Call me salty or whatever but I hate youtubers who spend tens of thousands of dollars to build/buy something that they're going to destroy in the video (or right afterwards). I made my son stop watching this youtuber after he paid $30k for a giant cake just for his friends to jump on it. "It's their money they can spend it however they want" but why throw that money IN THE TRASH when you could change someone's entire life with it??? I just couldn't imagine being a millionaire and being like "should I spend $20-50k on something that I'll throw away an hour after I get it, or should I use it to help someone escape poverty and make the money actually worth something that will last"
Idgaf how you earned that money, if you prefer LITERALLY THROWING MONEY AWAY over helping people, you're trash.

begin again
2.4k of a Piarles spiral that I might revisit in the future under the read more
Charles moves home after the divorce.
It’s George that suggests it. Well, he insists that he didn’t suggest it at all. He suggested that Charles do something for himself that he had always wanted to do but didn’t because of Peter and the…well, the crappy marriage thing.
“I meant for you to…go to Argentina to see that big waterfall or drive Route 66 or eat your way through Atlanta. I did not mean for you to sell this big house that you got in your divorce settlement and buy a house that is falling down in the middle of nowhere Alabama.”
But, that was what Charles wanted to do. After 10 years of playing the perfect spouse, he wanted to live in a little house and have a garden and be on his own.
And that’s what he intends on doing.
He buys a two bedroom house that looks like it’s in danger of blowing away, but it sits on five acres of land and the realtor tells him it’s got good soil for tomatoes.
Charles has too much money from his prenup and a college degree that he’s never used and so he decides to use both - slowly making this little house livable and presentable and also sitting for the teacher’s exam.
George and Alex come to visit over Thanksgiving, the only two who are still speaking to him from their life in Connecticut. The only two people Charles really cares about, and it’s good to see them. He shows them around the little town square and they have breakfast in the diner and Charles laughs himself silly when he gives George a big pour of the blackberry wine that Mrs. Fitzgerald - the biology teacher - makes and George sputters it all over his white shirt.
It’s good to see them and it’s good to see them go because Charles doesn’t feel sad about them leaving at all. He doesn’t miss a single second of that life and it’s like…the first time in the seven months since he moved here that he knows he did the right thing by selling that too big house with no happy memories.
Charles considers taking a trip over Christmas break. For the first Christmas in his adult life, he doesn’t have any place to be - both of his parents gone, Lorenzo is somewhere in the middle of the pacific ocean and Arthur is filming some new documentary in Colorado - but then he drives into Birmingham and spends 400 dollars on books and he spends the entire break eating cheese and cranberry sauce out of a can (a delight) and reading.
He has to YouTube how to start a fire in the fireplace because he’s never used it and then he has to pay triple to have an actual chimney sweep come and clean it out so he can use it.
Because sure, he had called Alabama home for the first 20 years of his life, but he had grown up in a house in Huntsville with a swimming pool and a gas fireplace.
And then when a year of life in Alabama rolls around, Charles looks in the mirror and smooths the wrinkles beside his eyes away with his fingertips and laughs because two years ago, he would have been obsessively checking them or Pieter would have pointed them out and the only reason he’s noticed them now is because he had dirt on his cheek.
It’s different than anything he ever imagined for his life, but it’s the best thing he’s ever experienced and it was absolutely the right choice. To move here. To begin again.
There are fifteen houses on the county road that Charles lives on. He knows them all by name and he knows their kids by name. He was a bit concerned when he moved that the gay divorcee would be a bit too much for them all to stomach, but they had embraced him with love and acceptance and help when he killed his tomato plants on accident last summer and when it froze and he wasn’t prepared for the whole county to shut down and when he realized he was going to have to buy some kind of lawn mower.
The point is that when the Harrison’s come by on a Tuesday night and tell him that they’re going to retire and move to Arizona where their oldest daughter lives, Charles is pretty upset about it - sad that they’re leaving, but also a bit worried about the new family that will move in. Until they tell him their nephew is going to be taking over the family place.
“Good boy,” Mrs. Harrison assures him, patting his cheek. “Handsome and single.”
Many things slide into place for Charles all at once and he laughs, brushing it off and telling them he’ll miss them and that he’ll stay in touch, and then he puts it out of his mind.
Until it’s mid-August and he’s carrying a box of books out to his car that he’s collected over the summer for his classroom and he sees a shiny black pick-up truck pull into his driveway and Charles knows that this is the nephew.
“Pierre,” he introduces himself and then he’s got to bend down to catch the two small children around their middles as they come barreling up to Charles. “And these are my hellions.”
But he smiles when he says it and Charles shakes both of their hands making them laugh and giggle, waiting on them to introduce themselves.
“Arabella, but Daddy calls me Ari.” who is six.
And then, “Jessop, but you can call me Jessie because I hate Jessop,” who is five.
The exchange lasts ten minutes and it only happened because Pierre promised his aunt he would stop by and say hello and then he has to go because the kids need dinner and Charles tells him that he’ll have to invite them over for dinner some night, but it seems a bit like a nicety because they don’t exchange numbers or say anything else before Pierre is helping the kids up into the backseat and driving off with a wave and a megawatt smile.
Charles asks no questions, but he’s curious enough that when Abby starts talking about Pierre two weeks later during lunch period, he ignores the grades he’s supposed to be entering into his computer and he sits down at the table with the math teachers and listens to the story.
A messy divorce with his ex-husband who is still in Iowa and two kids who they had through surrogacy that the ex apparently didn’t want and Charles goes home that night and makes a pie - or an attempt at a pie so he hauls himself out of bed the next morning before the sun and he makes another one, which turns out better so he takes it to Pierre and his kids and he invites them over for dinner on Wednesday night.
It’s silly, but he has a kinship with Pierre that Pierre doesn’t know exists.
It’s extra silly because there’s no way for Charles to come out and say: I married an older man after I finished school because I was scared and I don’t think he really loved me. I never had children even though I desperately wanted them and I’m starting over and it sounds like you are too, so maybe we could be friends?
No, he just makes sure that he picks up his living room and he roasts a chicken and when the three of them show up on Charles doorstep at 6:30 sharp, he wonders if he miscalculated with Pierre.
By the end of the night, he doesn’t have to wonder. He knows he did.
Pierre listens to his children when they talk and he asks Charles questions about the school and he smiles with his nose scrunched up and when Jessie falls asleep on Charles’ couch while a movie plays, Pierre apologizes for having to get them back home and Charles’ apologizes for keeping them up so late on a school night and he leaves with a sleeping child on his shoulder and a promise to see Charles at the football game on Friday night.
Which turns out to be a joy. The two of them sit together and Charles buys the kids gigantic lollipops Ari tells him about how she’s going to play football when she grows up because girls can do anything and Charles' heart is stuck between breaking and falling.
“I don’t want to pry,” Pierre says a month later while the two of them are sitting on the bottom step of Charles' porch while Ari and Jessie run around in the yard and try and catch lightning bugs, “but sometimes you look at them like it pains you to do so.”
And that’s when the whole nasty business comes out about Charles’ finding his husband of ten years having an affair with his paralegal and how Charles feels like he just started living his life even if maybe he’s missed his chance at having a life with another person, Pierre takes his hand in his and kisses the back of it and asks him if he wants to go into town with him and the kids this weekend and see a movie.
“Don’t ask me on a date because you pity me,” Charles warns and Pierre kisses his knuckles again.
“I’ve been thinking about asking you out since you brought us that horrendous pie.”
And then…Charles spends six months waiting for the other shoe to drop - so to say.
Arthur comes in for Thanksgiving and he spend four days in the floor with the kids during the day and trying to get all the dirty details from Charles at night, but Pierre doesn’t get spooked by having a family Thanksgiving with Arthur - instead the two of them get a little too tipsy on Friday afternoon and Charles has to tuck them into the couch so they’ll take a nap, and Pierre kisses him about it when he wakes up two hours later.
Charles wakes up on Christmas morning and gets dressed before it’s even 5 AM so he can drive over to Pierre’s and spend the morning with them before they load up and go over to Pierre’s parents house two hours north.
Pierre kisses him on New Year’s Eve and then he fucks Charles slow and deep and asks him to stay over - let him wake up with him and the kids. Because they hadn’t done that yet - had been careful in front of the kids.
Pierre’s birthday is spent in Charles’ house where he makes another atrocious pie and Pierre takes his face in his hands and whispers what Charles has known for months now.
“I love you,” he whispers into Charles’ mouth and Charles puts his face in his hands and cries and cries until Pierre pries them away and kisses him again. “I love you,” he says, “I love you.”
It goes like that until the next fall - when Ari turns eight and says matter of factly while they’re sitting on the front porch and Charles cranks an old ice cream maker he found in town, “I think you should be our new dad.”
There isn’t enough oxygen on the planet for the next minute of Charles’ life, and the only reason he manages to keep it together is because Pierre is there squeezing his shoulder and it’s grounding him to earth.
It’s a month of frantic whispers between Charles and Pierre and tears on both ends and Ari and Jessie giving Charles a wide circle when he’s with them until Pierre sets a plate down on the counter with more force than necessary and hisses, “No one in this house is your ex and these kids deserve someone who loves them and wants them just as much as I do and you’re a fucking fool if you think there’s anyone else on this planet that I want to marry as much as I want to marry you because not only do I think you’re the other half of me, I think you were meant to be their dad all along.”
It shocks Charles enough that he stops crying silent, hot tears and then he says, “I want to take your last name.”
And Pierre knocks the plate off the counter in an effort to get Charles into his arms.
They get married in the courthouse and then they take the kids on vacation over winter break to Disneyworld and Jessie calls Charles Papa for the first time while they’re eating a breakfast of Mickey shaped waffles and later that night after Charles and Pierre have tucked them into their beds, they stand on the balcony of their overpriced family suite and Pierre soothes the hair away from Charles face over and over and says a hundred times i love you, Charles, I am so thankful to you.
Alex texts Charles on the five year anniversary of when the divorce became final and Charles laughs at the ridiculous picture George took of him holding up the divorce decree for the camera to see and Charles looks across the room to where Pierre is stitching Ari’s dance costume back together and he texts back, best thing that could have ever happened.
Charles and Pierre work out a system for dinner and activities and making sure everything is done and the kids are thriving and Charles has never wanted for anything else.
Pierre teaches him not to kill tomato plants and Ari teaches him the true meaning of forgiveness. Jessie makes him believe that he can do anything and so when Pierre looks at him while the two of them are driving home from another football game and says, “You ever thought about having a third?” Charles doesn’t hesitate to say yes.
“We’ll be ancient when they graduate.”
Pierre laughs and kisses the back of Charles hand like he always does and Charles could burst with love and affection and the feeling of it was all worth it.
So when they bring home their second daughter 14 months later, Charles sits on the couch with Jessie and Ari and Pierre and George stands across the room to take a series of pictures while tears stream down his face, Charles has to laugh when George says:
“This is definitely what I meant when I said you should do something for yourself.”

9/20/20 Ben Meiselas, One of the Golden Boys with the MeidasTouch
Tumblr media
Ben Meiselas is the co-founder of the MeidasTouch Network (MTN), which he started with his brothers, Brett and Jordan.  The MeidasTouch is responsible for thousands of anti-Trump videos on YouTube and other social media sites.  They have posted over 6,500,000 videos and have over 1.6 million subscribers according to YouTube.
Ben and his brothers promised to always state the truth on their MeidasTouch vids.  In the 11/28/2020 issue of the “Hollywood Reporter,” Brett stated, “We are very careful and put a lot of thought into our messaging and into everything that we create, but we also don’t sit on it for weeks to make sure that everything about it is absolutely perfect. [emphasis added].  We need to be current. We need to be provocative. We need to be truthful and on top of it and continuously get the message out.”
A Google search showed some cracks.
During the December 2020 debate between Rev. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), a strand of her long hair appeared lighter than other strands.  Her critics claimed that this was proof that she was wearing a wire, and Ben was one of those critics.  He shared this theory with his 100,000+ followers.  The allegation was soon refuted.
The Meiselas brothers’ transparency took another hit after an interview with Seth Hettena, a freelance writer for the Rolling Stone.  He interviewed the brothers in December 2010, and the article ran in the April 2021 issue.  The headline read, “The Trouble with MeidasTouch,” and the opening continued, “The brothers behind the breakout anti-Trump PAC are the golden boys of the #Resistance, but when ‘Rolling Stone’ took a look beneath the surface, their response turned Trumpian.”  Ouch!
Mr. Hettena continued, “The group spent more than $1 million on an advertising strategy that it calls revolutionary but campaign veterans and independent experts say is nonsensical and a more effective tool for fundraising than for helping Democrats win elections. And despite its promised transparency, MeidasTouch’s financial structure makes a dollar-for-dollar accounting of its spending impossible — and, according to a former Federal Election Commission attorney, raises some of the same legal issues that got the Trump campaign into trouble in 2020.”  That had to hurt.
The brothers made the declaration that they had supported Democratic nominees with their money.  Mr. Hettena made the distinction that MeidasTouch were using other people’s money, not their own.
The brothers used their platform to protest Mr. Hettena’s article in a 40-minute rant.  Among other statements, Ben declared that he doesn’t earn a salary for his work on MeidasTouch and that he has also shut down a significant portion of his law practice since Covid started.  He described Mr. Hettena as a hack freelance who wants to write a journalistic hit piece on them because of their SuperPAC status.
Is Seth Hettena really a hack?  To find out, I did a background check on the investigative journalist.  A Google Scholar search yielded many links.  I learned that he wrote two books: Trump/Russia: A Definitive History, which documented the two world leaders’ history together.  Jane Mayer, author of “The New York Times’bestseller, Dark Money, wrote "Hettena is a first-rate reporter and wonderful story-teller, and the tale he tells here is mind-boggling.”
Hettena clearly supports the anti-Trump rhetoric created by the Meiselas brothers, but he has a problem with their SuperPac status.  For starters, the reporter stated that after the brothers declared a six-figure advertising airtime buy, a search of invoices TV stations filed with the Federal Communications Commission shows the group spent less than $80,000 worth of donor money.
I don’t share Ben Meiselas’s opinion that Seth Hettena is a political hack.  He has written two well-received books and was endorsed by a New York Times columnist.  In addition to The Rolling Stone, Mr. Hettena has written for other reputable journals like The New Republic, and he is currently working on an expose of the CIA and Navy Seals in Iraq.  Mr. Hettena applauds the MeidasTouch Network for the good that they do.  His problem is with SuperPacs in general, an opinion he shares with many others.  The Brennan Center for Justice outlined those concerns on their website. as documented in their blog “10 Years of Super PACs Show Courts Were Wrong on Corruption Risks.
The MeidasTouch continues to air hundreds of videos per month.  The ex-president is less of a focal point in these videos as the brothers have targeted other far right Republicans as well.
As the saying goes, nobody is perfect, which clearly applies to the Meiselas brothers.  But I applaud their efforts trying to keep our nation intact.

i never see anyone talk about how cheap it is to live in Eastern Europe like. provided you aren't paying rent (and where i am, less than 10% of the population rent, the rest either have their own place or live in community housing such as student dorms or social housing), you can live pretty well on a minimum wage!
me and my bf spent half a year living off of 400$ a month, which is actually below minimum wage though not by much. we don't pay rent so this money mostly goes to food, transport, meds, and nice things. we had to do a fair bit of budgeting but it really wasn't that hard. we spend less than 200$ a month on all supermarket trips and despite insane inflation this year, i am consistently surprised about how much food you can buy with the equivalent of 20$... like, we need two people (2 full shopping bags plus my backpack) to carry 20$ worth of food every supermarket trip. a bus ticket for an hour is less than a dollar. train ticket to a different city is like 10 bucks for me (with a student discount). i used to go to therapy every week to a very good specialist and she charged less than 30$ an hour
this is why i am so obsessed with making YouTube or writing into an income source like. i could happily and easily live off of a 100 of five dollar patrons. a very modest book advance of 5k dollars would feed me and another person for a year... yeah

Teach them something about the transformation they already desire or looking for before you make them an offer the likelihood of them saying yes to the offer increases exponentially, it's mind-blowing.
YouTube channel that gets about 2.1 million views every month. when I am talking about indoctrination you becoming more familiar with the people that you sell to, and you are less likely to buy something from the person you've just met than you are from somebody you know, if you know them too well you are not likely to buy from them either just keeping it real but you need to feel like you know them enough to believe they are creditable and know them enough that they believe you have their best interest in mind and you have to believe on some level they are better at getting the result you lack than you are, so I don't sell stuff on my youtube channel. I do 10-20 content value-based videos on YouTube whenever somebody sees me promoting. a person has to spend 7 hours with you before they feel like they know you and can trust you enough to buy something from you, unfortunately, you are trying to sell the person as soon as they see you. that's like saying !! hi, my name is XYZ? will you marry me?
LAW OF THE FARM - every deed is the seed, every word is the seed, every thought is the seed, and every dollar is the seed that I am sewing into the garden of my future if I sow good seeds it's impossible for me not to reap a good harvest, I literally put up a video everyday on youtube. I give people something they want to hear from me. an educated customer is gonna be the best customer. when was the last time you solved a problem for your client? don't chase people, provide them value. There are already 100 thousands of people in the world right now who would love to pay me if they only knew I existed and had their solution. the reason why I make so much money and sales is that I don't go looking for those people, I make myself so findable that they stumble upon me and ask this question where you've been all my life and you are so worried about what somebody is gonna think about the sound of your voice or how your hair looks, how you look, how much you weigh. here is the thing - all of us know something that will help somebody other than us!!
the biggest breakthrough is serving the people, caring more about them getting results rather than caring about getting their money and I promise you, you will start making sales, the law of averages. I am never trying to anybody to get buy, selling is not me trying to get you to buy, selling to me is persuading which is not equivalent to convincing you. convincing is the opposite of sales, convincing is what people with bad at sales resort to because they are so terrible at sales. you can't convince me, I know what I want. I don't like talking on the phone even if I like you, the phone is like a handcuff and when my phone rings and I see a number I don't recognise I don't answer, I am telling you there are people looking for you right now in your town lets get to the part if you wanna get better at sales, get better at buying, become a happy payer because everybody reproduces after it's own kind, people are happy to pay me because I am happy to pay them, I don't hesitate either. my recommendation is when it comes to selling and coaching groups are better than 1:1, you figure out a way to sell what you sell to a group vs selling 1 person at a time, you will make way more money way faster, do your presentation to a group and If the offer gets to be above 5000 dollars, do your closing 1:1, that way people who it's not for can disqualify themselves without wasting any of your time, you can do a webinar when you are new you should book calls with people to close low ticket sale just so you can get good at that!! so the presentation happens to the group !! maybe it was a webinar, maybe it was a challenge, maybe it was a video sales letter.
ask them at the end!! '
ques 1 - what did you like the best about the presentation
ques 2 - what questions do you have?
ques 3 - what other question do you have?
how do you overcome objections? I do not let questions turn into objections, what is an objection? an objection is a question you are allowed to fester by not answering in your presentation !!
keep answering their question until they run out of questions and finally, they will say !!
The questions I should ask!! - what appeals to you the most, what you have seen so far, like building a successful business and creating generational wealth for your family in the next 3-5 years or both. they always say both !!! if you had the opportunity to start benefitting from both would you choose later or would you choose sooner? they say sooner!!
Don't sell show what you can do for them !!

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️
Tumblr media
Well, we’re in another of Virginia’s 12 seasons. Fake Spring is over, now it’s time for Winter Two or Three, I can’t remember the funny names given to them. 🤣 It’s been gray and rainy with thunderstorms all week. ⛈️ After a month of beautiful, mostly sunny days, it’s hard to go back to rain. Oh well, such is life in the Southeast.
Hey, good news! That project I loved so much is extended through the end of June. That makes me super happy. 😃
Gracie and Kolby are fired up this morning. Let’s see if they’ll let me get through this in a decent amount of time. Apparently it’s playtime. 🐶
Hope you enjoy the links.
Campbell Robertson • The New York Times
After a meeting that lasted for hours, the Shenandoah County school board voted early Friday morning to restore the names of three Confederate officers to schools in the district.
Good grief. Just when you think the South is finally making some progress stuff like this happens.
Racist bastards. 🤬

As nice as the new OLED display looks, and no matter how powerful the new M4 may be, the iPad’s problem in 2024 — or another year for that matter — is the software.
Power users continue to basically want macOS installed on their iPads.
I say Federico Viticci should find a way to make his FrankenPad easy to reproduce with a full line of accessories and how-to articles to guid you through the process.
He’d make tens of dollars.
Tim Murphy • Mother Jones
Musk is not a tech visionary with a side interest in politics these days, nor is he just another bored billionaire with a nativist streak; the political activism and the technological ambitions are inseparable. He believes his work is part of a civilizational struggle in which woke progressives pose an existential threat to humanity. And he spends most of his days inside a feedback loop that’s radicalizing him even more.
I think we all know good old Space Karen has been Red Pilled for a very long time. Folks like him and Jack Dorsey slide further and further down the rabbit hole with each passing day.
Good riddance I say. I hope they buy some island, move there, and never come back. 🤡

Data centers in Northern Virginia are using “absurd amounts of water” to power cooling systems, writes Sachi Kitajima Mulkey in Grist, causing concern among local officials.
How is it I live in Virginia and didn’t know it was home to so many data centers?
You’d think all these smart people would figure out how to power everything with good clean energy and find alternative cooling methods. Like building underground or something. 💧
Joan Westenberg
It’s time to wake up, folks. When someone offers you “exposure” or says they want to “empower creators,” keep a firm hand on your wallet. They’re not your friend, and they don’t care about supporting the arts. They care about money, pure and simple, and they see creators as resources to be exploited.
I instantly thought of most YouTubers and Musicians. Sure, there are some who make a killing off their works but most make almost nothing.
Tumblr media
I thought, very foolishly, I’d be able to make $200 a month with my Indie Apps. Boy was I ever dumb to think that way. At its high point in 2009 to 2011 I was making about $20 a month from RxCalc. It’s still my biggest money maker between it and Stream. That is, of course, my fault. Making my apps better may result in better income.
Do YouTubers and Musicians feel that way or do they feel ripped off by the platforms?

Jack Dorsey claims Bluesky is ‘repeating all the mistakes’ he made at Twitter
Dorsey also seems to have been Red Pilled. I’m not really sure what he’s after. It sounds like he wants and no hold barred free for all. What he’s after would turn into a giant garbage fire. A flame war to end all flame wars. It would boil out into the streets. An ultimate chaos machine.
Countries have laws. Those laws are largely in place to protect people.
We don’t need a lawless social network but apparently Dorsey now thinks X is the bastion of free speech. It’s not. It’s become a right wing propaganda machine full of Nazis, white supremacist, and vile right wing extremists with your occasional famous actor or favorite personality. 🗑️

I am leaving my position as Community Manager at Micro.blog at the end of this month.
I wish Jean all the best. She’s been ever present on Micro.blog since day one and she made it a better place.
Cheers, Jean, and all the best in your next adventure! ❤️

Michael McDowell and Spire Motorsports have announced a multi-year agreement for McDowell to become the driver of the team’s No. 71 Chevrolet beginning in 2025.
This caught me off guard! Michael McDowell seems like one of those loyal to a fault type guys. He’s single handedly kept Front Row Motorsports afloat, in my opinion. He’s been very competitive this year at times and spent time leading races. He even came darned close to winning at Talladega. Apparently he told Dale Jr. he was willing to die to win that race. A bit too aggressive for my blood, but that’s the attitude he’ll bring with him to Spire Motorsports.
Here’s hoping he goes to that next level and wins more races.

Boeing says workers skipped required tests on 787 but recorded work as completed
I just can’t with this company. How can anyone get on a plane now?
I’m afraid of heights and flying in general. So, yeah, I already had issues with getting on a giant tube held in the air by some magical force. Ok, ok, you know what I mean.
Now I’m really leery of getting on one. 😰

Open source software is having a midlife crisis. Open source contributors are struggling to keep pace. Popular open source projects are making restrictive licensing changes. Backdoor threats are placing the open source supply chain in jeopardy. And, no one seems to have a clear grasp on what “open” means in the context of artificial intelligence.
There’s a lot of open source software available for individuals and corporations to use without paying a dime for it. That can come at a price. We’ve seen developers remove their packages from node, breaking developers worldwide, we’ve seen plenty of repositories go dark and watch contributions waste away from but rot, and recently we’ve witnessed a long game infiltration into an extremely important piece of software by what appears to be a nation state.
I have no idea how to fix these problems. I suppose treating people with kindness and respect could help with certain issues but some are going to take vigilance one all of our parts to make sure the things we use continue to work and aren’t used for nefarious purposes.
Sarah Perez • TechCrunch
Meta’s move into the open social web, also known as the fediverse, is puzzling. Does the Facebook owner see open protocols as the future? Will it embrace the fediverse only to shut it down, shifting people back to its proprietary platforms and decimating startups building in the space? Will it bring its advertising empire to the fediverse, where today clients like Mastodon and others remain ad-free?
It’s hard for me to imagine what Meta can do to take over the Fediverse but I don’t have a devious mind.
The Fediverse feels like the place we commoners can make a place to flourish. To date I know we have Mastodon as a Twitter replacement and PixelFed as an Instagram replacement. What about YouTube and the likes of Spotify and Apple Music? Is there a brave enough musician or group of musicians willing to build a music streaming service based on open protocols and API’s?
Maybe Taylor Swift would like to back a small team to build streaming software that federates and gives indies a way to host their own music and their own stores. I don’t know if something like that is plausible? Anything is possible to build given enough will, inspiration, time, and resources.
Maybe we’ll see some new ventures spring out of the Fediverse related to video and music streaming.

How to Pass Prop Firm Challenge: 4 Tips for Success

How to Pass Prop Firm Challenge: 4 Tips for Success
As a professional trader with over 10 years of experience, I have passed many Prop firm challenges and have developed a set of rules that I always follow to ensure my success. In this post, I’ll share with you these rules, so you can also pass Prop firm challenges and become a successful trader.
How to Pass Prop Firm Challenge: Tip #1: Follow Your Strategy 100%
The first and most important rule is to follow your strategy 100%. Whether you’re trading manually or with Robots, you must always follow the rules of the strategy you’ve selected. Even if you strongly believe that the market is moving in a particular direction, if your strategy says it’s time to buy, then buy. Following your strategy will help you avoid making emotional and fear-based decisions that can lead to losses.
Tip #2: Start with a small challenge.
Many new traders start with high-cost challenges because they want to get funded with hundreds of thousands of dollars immediately. They hope to quit their day job and spend just a few hours trading to make a living from trading. However, Prop firm challenges aim to fund the best traders, and although their trading objectives may sound easy, they are not.
Recent research shows that between 80 to 99% of traders fail in trading. With the Prop Firm challenges, it’s not just about failing or winning. You must be profitable and fulfill certain trading objectives which makes it even harder. Less than 1% of traders who attempt the challenge pass and get funded.
It’s best to invest in a few challenges. Instead of purchasing a 200K FTMO Challenge, take five smaller 10K challenges. The smaller challenges would cost you less and you will have plenty of time to prove not to the FTMO but to yourself that you are ready for a bigger challenge. You can use the money earned from getting funded with a 10K challenge to pay for a bigger challenge.
The ultimate strategy here is to buy the 10K challenge just once, pass the challenge, pass the verification and get funded. The first rewards you withdraw, you can use to pay for a 200k Challenge. If this doesn’t happen on your first attempt, you can take another shot because you use just a small amount from the money you were about to lose on the 200k challenge.

How to Pass Prop Firm Challenge: Tip #3: Don’t be in a hurry
Do not rush. Your goal shouldn’t be to try the expensive challenges as quickly as possible but rather to successfully complete the smaller challenges and prepare yourself properly. Most people fail because they rush through it.
Don’t be fooled by YouTubers who claim to pass FTMO challenges quickly. Passing FTMO challenges is not an easy task and it takes time. Take your time and do not rush through it. You have a whole month to complete it, which is usually more than 20 trading days. If you do not reach the 10% Target but you fulfill all the training objectives, you can usually ask for a free retake. The various influencers and YouTube content creators are just that. Content creators. Their goal is to get as many views as possible. They are not necessarily successful traders.

Tip #4: The Challenge is just the start
Passing the challenge is just the beginning. You will still have to go through the verification process and get funded before you can start earning real money. That’s why you need a profitable trading strategy that will generate consistent results over time.
Click to Pass Your Prop Firm Challenge
Don’t let a few lucky trades make you overconfident. Instead, use the challenge as an opportunity to evaluate your risk and trading objectives, and work on improving and mastering your trading strategy. This will help you generate profits continuously, not just with a few lucky trades.
If you fail at first, don’t worry. You can always learn from your trading mistakes and make the necessary changes to become a better trader. Starting with a demo account or free trial can be a great way to practice without risking your own money.

If you don’t have a trading strategy at all, you might want to check out the FTMO challenge Master Class. The ready-to-use strategy has helped many traders pass the challenge.
How to Pass Prop Firm Challenge: Final Thoughts
Remember, becoming a successful trader takes time and effort. But with the right mindset and strategy, you can achieve your goals. Good luck, and have a wonderful day!

POSTER CHILD
True story: A publisher made a deal to produce comics and posters featuring a popular YouTube celebrity. Glass House Graphics created 10 painted covers for the project. Because the celeb agreed to attend Comic-Con and spend the whole time signing at the booth, the publisher decided to release all the images as retail posters.
"We'll make a million dollars at the Con!" the publisher told me during an in-person meeting.
I couldn't find words at that moment. Seeing the look of confusion on my face, he explained further. "I'll print them in China, air freight them in directly to the Con. I'll even create a massive new booth with the celeb's face gigantic on it. Ten posters, we'll print 10,000 of each."
"Jesus, that's a lot of expense," I said, running likely numbers in my head. "A new booth, airfreight shipping, the event's Union costs to set it up, the drayage charges to store and forklift out that many posters...."
The publisher wasn't hearing me. He was on a roll. "It'll be $20 for one signed poster, a sliding scale, if they buy all 10 it'll be $10 each, $100 for the set. We'll move 100,000 posters at the show and make at least a million bucks."
I shook my head in disbelief. "Nope. I'd suggest printing 500 of each, maybe you'll sell 5,000 total if you're lucky," I told him. "If he has time to sign any leftovers, you can sell them online later. Your math doesn't match reality."
"You're an idiot," he argued. "Of course it does."
"The arithmetic...doesn't...work," I said, with deliberate emphasis. "The Convention is 10 hours a day, maybe four hours on Preview night. That's 44 hours MAX. You're expecting a lot for a celeb to be there every minute. Even if he intends to, he'll have to break for lunch, to stretch his legs, bathroom breaks, probably have a meeting or two, some buddy will come by who he'll need to chat with. It will all take away from his signing time."
"I'm allowing for that. We'll have hired staff to corral people through the line fast."
"All right," I said. "So someone goes through the line, selects a poster or two, pays for them, talks to the celeb, maybe hands him a gift, they chat for a few seconds, he makes a joke, they take a picture together, shake hands, then on to the next person. Their special moment, that's maybe one minute." I pulled out my phone and ran the calculator. "Sixty people an hour. In an ideal world, 44 hours x 60 people an hour is 2,650 people. If each buys a poster or two, you'll MAYBE sell 5,000 posters at the outside."
"You're wrong," he told me. "We'll sell multiples."
Of course, the publisher proceeded to do as he pleased: Pricey new booth, 100,000 posters air-freighted in at considerable expense, con staff expenses, celebrity costs, all of it.
After Comic-Con was over, I heard that roughly 4,800 posters got sold. While some of the 95,000+ leftover posters shipped to a warehouse, many were left on the convention floor to be trashed. The company imploded shortly thereafter.
And as you might suspect, the artists who painted those posters never received their comp copies OR a dime of their contracted royalties for the ones that did sell.

Did You Miss Me
Okay, what has it been? A little over a month? I guess I have become a once a month blogger.
(Insert sad face emoji)
I know it is hard to keep a following in this day and age of the 20 second video blurb. Especially when I am only writing once a month and readership of any kind of print is down worldwide. Yet, I love a challenge. So, let's try this one. It is a story I dreamt up last night.
*****
   Hop aboard! Everyone ready?
We are taking a time machine back to a day where music was mostly heard only on a thing called the Radio and seldom on Network TV. A time before MTV, the internet, YouTube, and streaming services. Yes children, we are going back to the dark ages where people had to buy a round thing called "a record" and then buy another thing called "a record player" to play the records on.
I know it sounds frightening, but do not fret. All these people still manage to live through these dark times to become your parents and grandparents.
(Warning! Do Not Remind Your Parents Or Your Grandparents Of Those Dark Ages Because Your Benevolent Government Has Suppressed Those Memories In Them So They Can Lead Happy, Productive Lives)
If you left one of these record disks out in the sun or in a hot car, you would cry because you had to spend another seven dollars on a new one.
It also took time for the sound quality to improve.
youtube
But singers did have high tech technology with the original auto-tune. Covering one ear with a hand.
So forgive your parents or grandparents when the mumble out foolish statements like, "Music was so much better back when I was growing up."
It wasn't. Each generation grows up with their own sound.
(Disclaimer: Every era has great, good, and bad music. They are restricted only by the technology of the time and the available instruments.)
This is,
Your Federal Government Denies All Efforts Of Programing Your Relatives So They Can Lead Happy, Productive Lives
Unfortunately, They Were Born That Way
Jim Hauenstein
And
“The only truth is music.” - Jack Kerouac -
That is my story and I am sticking to it! Like what you are reading? Sign up as a Follower or Leave a Comment  I would love to hear from you Thanks for reading  Be kind to everyone  I'll be seeing you
Check these Books out

And before anyone complains about how the music of their generation is the best, remember, this was only a dream. A work of fiction.
Let the hate mail begin!

Incoming rant:
I have seen this fucking trend of gamerbros bitching about game length. I mean, we all know they're talking about their dicks, but hey, we'll take it at face value. They're now bitching that some games are too short.
Hilariously, not 10 years ago people were bitching games were too long. Funny.
Look, if a game costs $20 - $25 dollars, and I get at least a movie's worth of hours out of it, then I feel like I got my money's worth.
Small studios produce some amazing fucking games, and sometimes the stories don't need 80 hours to tell. There are any number of ways to find out how long a game is. FUCKING LOOK IT UP BEFORE YOU BUY, YA DICKS.
Gods, gamerbros always look for something to bitch about, and I have yet to figure out how they still think they have power. What kills me even more is these are the same fuckers who like to pull the victim card like "I was bullied in school, so now I will act like a serial killer and dox you which gives me the power now!" This is not fucking Grayskull, and you aren't He-Man, and frankly, he would be disappointed in your incel ass anyway.
ANYWAY
We live in the age of fucking information and there is zero reason to bitch when you can look it up!
Gasp! Shock!
And, guess what? Sometimes, you can get a game like Hades that's only $25 and get a shitload of hours out of it because for every death you get another part of the story. And, there is more than one story to tell on top of that!
Look, I played three games this week. Two took me about 3 hours each. One took me about 7. And, each were $20. And, you know what? They were gorgeous, fun, and at least one made me cry because it was so fucking touching. (The Spirit and the Mouse, y'all. Y'ALL!)
I saw one of my favorite youtubers talking about this dickhole who was giving a game shit for being too short. It's $20. My dude, if you enjoyed it and would play it again just for the joy of playing it. If you got the cost of a movie ticket with snacks worth, YOU GOT YOUR MONEY'S WORTH.
Look, I love me some long ass games. I loooooove my RPGs, my story rich adventures, my sandboxes. I'll paid $60 no problem for Falloout 4, Witcher 3, Skyrim, Elden Ring, etc.! (Fuck that $70 bullshit. I refuse to pay $70 for AAA games because they are only trying to charge that because they can. They literally are not paying the people who make those games more. They are only paying CEOs more. I'll steal a fucking game before I pay $70 to a fucking AAA studio.) But, sometimes, sometimes, those little bite-sized games are just what you need at that moment.
I've played some small studio $20 games that take HOURS to complete. (Fucking hell, Stardew Valley, Dinkum, and Vampire Survivors are all made by ONE PERSON EACH, have ridiculous amounts of hours, and are stupid cheap for the gameplay.) I've also played some of the same price I finished in like 4 hours. Now, I've played games that are like an hour, and those...I wouldn't pay $20 for. That seems a little much to ask, but frankly, the ones that I can finish in that short a time are usually free or like $5. Fuck, I spend more than that at a fast food joint just because I don't wanna cook.
If you're buying from a small studio, don't bitch about the cost. I can't count the times I've read "why is it small studios can make twice the quality for half the cost?" That's because they aren't paying fucking CEOs and shareholders. Those small studios and solo devs are literally charging what it takes for them to pay to live while they make the games and recoup overhead like the equipment to make said games you love upon. Because, guess what, dear assholes who bitch, PEOPLE'S TIME ARE AN ACTUAL COMMODITY. Artists deserve to be paid for their time. Games are art.
Not to say I'm against being concerned about the amount of hours you get out of a game. Shit, sometimes, you have a little extra money, and want a nice game for a distraction from all the horrible shit going on in the world, and sometimes you want more than a couple of hours. You can go to howlongtobeat.com. That gives you a pretty good idea. But, it's not the end all be all, because, like, I'm slow when I play because I like to take my time or I might play while I'm doing other things because ADHD. It's all depending on your personal gameplay style. So, be sure to check what actual players are saying. (One dick on the game forum was like "Lost in Play is only like 1.5 hours and they charged $20?!" Um...yo, asshole, for a normal player it's more like 5 hours. So, fuck you.)
So, yeah, $20 is not too much to pay for a game that is complete, fun, scratches your particular gaming itch, and possibly has more emotion and style than any AAA company could produce.
And, hey, if you have a PC, Steam has massive sales, the biggest being Summer and Winter. Those $20 games that can give you hours of joy can be as cheap as $5. So, honestly, stop bitching.
Fucking gamerbros. I hates them, my precious.

10 Personal Finance Tips for Girls in their 20s
Tumblr media
1. Personal finance advice is PERSONAL. Take any advice you see online with a grain of salt, including this one. That being said, there is a lot of basic advice that could apply to a lot of people and do a lot of good.
2. Be interested about money. You’re being ignorant if you think that money doesn’t affect you, or that you don’t care about money. It is one of the most important areas of your life as a grown adult. You don’t have to think deeply about it every day–you just need to learn the basics and put some time into it at the beginning, and that will set you up better than most people. Read books. Read forums. Watch YouTube videos. Listen to podcasts.
3. Debt is complicated–think about it before you take it on. Think about whether or not it’s a good choice for you in your personal situation. Generally speaking, mortgages are acceptable debt, and consumer debt is not.
Student loans are a grey area, but don’t take it lightly! Make sure the cost is worth what you think you’ll be able to make with an income. Talk to people who are in your field and ask whether or not your level of student loans is worth it. Be educated about debt before taking it on, or else it will be a very ugly monster.
4. You Need a Budget (YNAB) is the best app for budgeting, period. I don’t want to hear anything about tracking your expenses, because that’s retroactive. We want to be proactive with our finances. YNAB lets you do that. There’s a year-long free trial for students too.
5. Credit cards aren’t the devil, but if you can’t use them responsibly, figure yourself out before you use them. The maximum amount of money you can borrow from your credit card (aka your credit limit) is NOT your money. It’s debt. If you can’t control yourself, then take a step back and reign in your spending habits before you get a credit card again. YNAB will help with this. I have access to over 6 figures in credit from the bank, but I’m not out here blowing that money on designer bags and whatever.
Tumblr media
6. Your savings are wasted in a savings account at your bank. Big banks have the customers by brand name alone, so their interest rate will be measly compared to smaller banks. Be sure to do your research before you commit to a smaller bank because there can be some scammy ones! My bank’s interest rate on a savings account right now is 0.05%. My high interest savings account interest rate is 1.5%–x30 higher!!
7. Your significant other is a significant decision not only for your life but also your finances. Don’t rush into marriage. Don’t rush into buying a house together. Don’t rush. Divorce is painful and expensive. And being with someone whose financial values align with yours is important. You don’t want to be scrimping and saving when your partner is out buying everything under the sun.
8. You don’t know anyone else’s finances, so fighting to keep up with the Joneses is stupid. There are athletes making millions of dollars a year who have flashy lifestyles and can’t handle their finances and end up bankrupt. You don’t know how the girls on Instagram or the other rich people in your life are affording things, so you can’t compare your situations. You don’t know how much money they make, or how much money their parents give them, or how much student loans they have. Eyes on your own paper. Focus on your own financial security.
9. Reconsider how much you eat out. Eating out is such a money suck for many young people, either because of convenience or because you don’t know how to cook. Learn how to cook. Don’t be lazy. If you’re getting takeout, consider at least picking it up instead of getting it delivered and paying an abhorrent amount of extra charges in service fees, delivery fees, and tips. I’ve cut down my eating out significantly and my wallet thanks me for it.
10. You are in control of your money. (Side note: don’t give that control to anyone!!!) You CAN make good and responsible choices. You CAN achieve financial goals if you do your research and educate yourself and put in the work. You CAN reach a point where money is not a stressor in your life. I believe in you.
Now go out and get wealthy.
