Just saw a post about hxh hisoka and genuinely forgot he existed for a blissful minute and thought the post was about a3 Hisoka (the objectively better Hisoka)

my curse and my burden. I still follow quite a few of my hxh mutuals from the way back and once in a while i am forced to remember the clown exist and i get to cry.

Sometimes i see textposts about Hisoka on my dash, and i find the words used in it to be very weird and not at all appropriated to OUR Hisoka and then suddenly i see who posted it and i react like a cat who had a huge buck of cold water dumped on.

I'll never forgive the clown for it. Hisoka Mikage only Hisoka to matter. The better, bestest of all the Hisoka. Loving him for ever. Unlike the other one. Where's my banner.

Too Late

James was the one to find him. Thomas was hidden among the disused wagons behind Tidmouth. It didn't surprise James that none of the others had found him. Most tended to forget this part of the yard existed. James only knew because this was one of the spots he went to when everything became too much. As it had become for Caomhnóir.

The tank engine's fire had long gone out, his soot covering slowly washing away under the rain. Tear tracks covered his cheeks, but he was utterly unmoving. He had never looked so small to James as he did right then. Thomas had an energy that swelled past his frames, always moving, never still for longer than a second at a time. When he was upset it was easy to forget he wasn't as big as the main line engines. As Caomhnóir...there was a reason the likes of Flying Scotsman listened when he spoke. But right now? James just saw a little engine, bending under the weight placed on his frames.

James silently rolled to a stop in front of the tank engine, his crew walking away, leaving the two engines alone. For a long time, they remained in silence, James just letting him cry.

"I was too late." Caomhnóir finally whispered, his voice rough from crying. "She was already gone when we arrived."

James had no idea who he was talking about, but he could certainly guess at their fate.

"You can't save everyone." He reminded gently.

Caomhnóir's laugh was bitter and broken, "Everyone? Right now I'm failing to save anyone."

Well, that was enough of that.

"So you did dump that goods train on me last week for no reason."

Thomas looked up, confused, "No, I was..."

"And you had Henry sabotage the kipper the week before that for nothing."

"Of course not! I..."

"And Gordon derailed at Barrow completely by accident last month."

Thomas fell silent.

James raised an eyebrow, "Well? Did you or did you not need cover for engines sneaking in three times in a month?"

Thomas sighed, "I did...but it was not enough."

"No its not..and it never will be." James sighed, allowing his own grief to slip through. "But we can either accept that and help you save who we can, or let them take our kin unopposed."

"There's just so many." Caomhnóir sounded lost. "When I realized she was gone I grabbed who I could but..."

He was quiet for a long moment, " I moved as fast as I could but...." He looked helplessly up at James, "How do I tell Gordon Pretty Polly''s gone."

Oh. Well, that explained it.

"You don't," James said. "I will."

Thomas looked up to protest but James pressed their buffers together. "You have enough on your frames without this."

Thomas shook, "she wasn't supposed to be withdrawn yet. We had a plan, but suddenly they withdrew her, and by the time I got there..."

James took a deep breathe to steady himself, "it's still not your fault." He pushed on before the little engine could protest. "By all accounts, you made a sudden mad dash across the entire country undetected to try to save her. If you failed, then it was because there was no way to succeed, not because you failed in any way."

"I ran out of coal on the way back." Thomas admitted, "The midnight goods had to sneak me in."

Well, that explained why his fire was out.

"That only proves you did everything you could."

11 years later.

Thomas was resting at Tidmouth when he heard Gordon's whistle, joined by his siblings. He opened his eyes, expecting to see Gordon, Northern, and Scotsman.

Instead, a fourth engine was in front of him, the three expected Gresley's smirking on either side of her.

She, somehow was an A3 Pacific in BR Express Passenger Blue with the number 60061 on her buffer beam.

"I never got to thank you for trying to save me."

"POLLY?!?!?"

I've always been interested in Hanakotoba, ever since I started playing A3! I think it would be interesting to write about them!

(What if!) Albert Wesker as a Florist.

- Albert is one of the florists in the flower shop where you met him. It's unusual to discover a man with such a sweet interest in flowers. He said it was one of his passions because his grandma maintained a tiny garden in her home.

- He always has a pleasant and calming scent. Every time you stood beside him, you'd find yourself floating through the air. You never ask him where or how he gets his pleasant scent. But you loved it!

- His shop is so calming and relaxing with cute decorations, and don't forget about the various flowers circling it.

- He's so inventive and creative that he can even find a romantic and sweet note in the bouquet. "My morning dew, I hope you have a beautiful day."

- He memorized every flower's language and recorded it in his thoughts; whenever people questioned him about flowers, he would respond with love. You could feel the warmth of a kind, compassionate grin on his face, which sometimes left you perplexed.

- When he noticed you were upset, or perhaps... when he sensed you were down, he would say something sweet to cheer you up, like...

Albert : Gerbera arrived today in my shop. Do you know what Gerbera means?

You : No... 

Albert : It means innocence, purity, cheerfulness, and loyal love. I hope you'll grow like a Gerbera. It's okay to be sad; sometimes things overwhelm you. But it's fine, everything is going to be okay.

- You know, you don't know much about flowers, but every time he talks about them with enthusiasm, something develops in your heart, and Albert is the one who grows them with that smile.

- When he heard a ringing bell at his shop, you could see a glint in his blue eyes. He'd greet you with a smile as if you were a valued customer.

- He rarely speaks about his grandma, but when he does, he considers you to be an important person with whom to express his feelings. He cherished his grandma so much; you have no idea how much he adores her.

Albert: I had a disease when I was a kid. Because of the pollution, I would get sick easily. So my parents sent me to live with my grandma, who lived in the countryside. She taught me everything about flowers.

- He even invited you to visit his grandma. And she greets you with a warm and lovely hug that wraps around your body. Oh, now you understand why Albert adores this lovely lady.

- She likes you and shows you a picture of Albert when he was a child. He resembles a young prince from a children's novel.

- You may see a photo of him drawing, playing with clay and plasticine, and baking cookies. He's adorable, and his grandma can't stop gushing about how great her grandson is.

Grandma: Al never invites anyone to my house. Hmm... I'm sure he has feelings for you.

You: No. I'm simply a friend of his, so it wasn't anything like that.

Grandma: I don't think so. People occasionally insult other people's hobbies because they appear strange to them, and Al has experienced this as well. They're always mean to him because he likes flowers, but you aren't like that. You're kind, and Al will be pleased if you're on his side.

- Everything around you feels like an Eden garden full of flowers floating around your mind when you hear that.

I don't know if everyone loves this, but I always loved writing about how kind and sweet Albert is, because in my headcanon, Albert would be this sweet if Spencer hadn't kidnapped him. I know he's evil in the franchise, and it's so sad that he's dead alone without anyone on his side. (⁠´⁠;⁠︵⁠;⁠`⁠)

Story of Tonoita:

I DIDN'T EVEN LIKE TONOOKA UNTIL LIKE EARLY 2022. THIS MAN HAS BEEN IN THE GAME SINCE 2018. OUR FIRST INTRODUCTION TO HIM IS HOW HE LITERALLY RUINED ITARU'S LAST YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL AND WAS THE REASON WHY ITARU CAN'T TRUST PEOPLE ANYMORE AFTER THAT AND CLOSES HIMSELF OFF.

AND YET. GOD.

Listen, I'm not an enemies to lovers liker. And exes to lovers is the kind of thing I like when I make them exes, not when they're canonically exes (they never canonically dated but like come on. they're basically exes). So why did I start shipping them?

I have these Twitter roleplay accounts for a3, a handful of them, and while roleplaying a different character in the series, I joined this little server of roleplay where we'd talk about stuff and plan out events and whatever, and one of them was roleplaying this fourth character (Citron!) mainly, but also had a Tonooka account, you might be able to see where I’m going with this.

We had this friend who had the Itaru roleplay account who really liked to roleplay this other Itaru ship (with a guy called Chikage), and sometimes he'd forget to do the replies to other ongoing roleplays. so my Citron/Tonooka friend dm'd me about it since they felt kind of left out whenever that happened, especially if there was an ongoing thread with Itaru and Citron, and I was like yeah I get it. I liked Chikaita a lot but it wasn't my go-to Itaru or Chikage ship, so I was like “uh huh nods”, and we got to talking about Itaru ships, and they mentioned Tonoita.

They really liked Tonoita, who is kinda unpopular in the general fandom because he caused Itaru a lot of trauma, and Itaru's like the number one or two most popular chara in the whole game, so a lot of people didn't like him. But my friend liked him a lot and told me so much about him, and literally he only appeared in one event story in the entire game at that point but I was listening so intently, and then I was like “mhm nods i understand”, and hey u can come to me about Tonoita whenever u want in case you feel judged or whatever.

BUT THAT WASN'T THE KICKER.

I was still kinda neutral about it but I didn't dislike it, but the aforementioned Itaru rp friend went inactive, so after a while, I was like “What if I make an Itaru account instead?” so I did! and then, fuck, I literally still have the roleplay bookmarked. My friend was on their Tonooka account goofing off about whatever shit and I posted this stupid reaction pic of the press x to doubt guy and then Tonooka fucking REPLIED. And then we had the usual exes banter. And then it became real??? LIKE THEY STARTED CRYING AND SHIT?? AND APOLOGIZED TO EACH OTHER?? AND COMMUNICATED WITH EACH OTHER??? AND THEN LIKE. AGREED TO AT LEAST BE CIVIL TO EACH OTHER AGAIN? WHICH TURNED INTO BEING FRIENDS AGAIN?? AND THEN THEY STARTED DATING AGAIN?????

AND THEN I JUST WENT SO INSANE ABOUT IT THAT THEY'VE NEVER LEFT MY HEAD SINCE, LIKE, THIS WAS IN EARLY 2022. SO IT'S BEEN A YEAR AND I'M STILL VISCERALLY INSANE OVER THEM BECAUSE OF THIS ONE THREAD THAT STARTS WITH A PIC OF A STUPID MEME. MY GOD, I HATE BEING OBSESSED WITH THEM BECAUSE LIKE I CAN COUNT ON ONE HAND THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO LIKE THIS SHIP (I KNOW LIKE. 2 PEOPLE AND I HAVE LIKE 200 TWITTER MUTUALS.) Once upon a time, one of my now-friends was posting stuff about them, I didn’t like it, but then I looked at the tags And she was tagging it as frEAKIN… DAIN… BALLAS… I DIED, YO. I couldn’t live with the fandom knowing the pairing as that so I conferred with my beta and we came up with NaviMind and MasterGuide.

Then I started interacting more with the fandom and started accidentally converting people to this pairing like it was a religion. KEEP IN MIND that I didn’t ship them yet??? Like actually I was talking about canonical things and the people I texted were like “It’s my OTP now” 😭😭😭😭. My record time from me meeting someone to converting that person was a few hours. Literally, I had a NaviMind aura, it was a passive effect.

Then afterward I actually started imagining super angsty things about them and I wrote about their friendship, and I thought it would be much sadder if they were in love but couldn’t be together because of Bain’s paranoia and Dallas’ refusal to admit his feelings. They’re already best friends in canon, I write it to where Dallas can’t live without his guy… yeah, I have the most fics about this duo. I’m still strong even though it’s been over a year.

Probably gonna fail a class so here are random headcanons for Izumi Tachibana from A3!

(It’s pretty long IMO and not proofread, sorry)

(I also am not caught up with the JP main story past Act 10 so sorry if anything contradicts sth that happens later)

CW: it gets kinda depressing near the end, my mood kinda seeped in 😓; mostly backstory stuff

- my girl is bi (more so bc I want a chance)

- her mom was always a stickler for a clean house so she’s super serious about making sure everyone does their chores, even more than Sakyo

- this one is more about Yukio and her mother but that man’s taste is women is definitely serious women in charge (they say you tend to fall for someone similar to your parents *winkwonk* SakyoIzu being the gender bent ver *winkwonk*

- Women on top tho, the men are simps (Yukio has to call at least once a week or else)

- On that note, her mom definitely holds grudges by the way she doesn’t even want Yukio to be mentioned in her household; Izumi holds mini-grudges too but they eventually fade with time bc she’s forgetful and just really nice

- not one to scream at a person when she’s angry, just raises her voice and speaks in a firm tone (she’s really good at choosing the right words though so it’s kinda worse to get her mad bc she’s usually so tolerant and her words hit deep)

- always speaks from the heart so this skill not transfer to acting 😭

- when her dad left so suddenly, she tried watching plays to cope but then started crying in the middle of the performance bc she thought of what her dad would think of a specific scene bc they used to do daddy-daughter play trips

- briefly tried to take up a different artistic hobby instead of theatre but when that failed, she just threw herself into her studies

- average student but she can get higher scores if she really tries

- scores into a pretty good college but a friend encourages her to go to a decent college that at least has a good arts program bc they’re worried Izumi is gonna throw away her life’s passion

- although she had that horrible experience where the theatre head told her she has no acting talent, at least being able to help create plays with backstage work rekindles her love of theatre and gives her an even greater appreciation for behind the scenes positions

- she works her way up the back stage ladder, trying out all sorts of different jobs to get a feel for each of them and eventually gets to an assistant director position

- and she’s absolutely in love with it (my girl is a career woman through and through)

- she gets why her father loved it so much although he was a great actor himself

- so thankful to the friend who encouraged her to go to that college, they’re still in contact (long distance bc she’s still at their home town) and they text and do late night calls often (they’re platonic soulmates dw)

- She was decently popular before daddy issues happened and lost a lot of the fair weather friends and only has a few close ones she’s made and kept over the years; she’s making more connections via theatre nowadays bc MANKAI keeps her so busy (it’s a crime that Liber doesn’t even give Izumi just one friend outside of her relation with MANKAI)

- Although MANKAI and her friend have never met, they refer to each other by nicknames at this point bc of how often Izumi catches them up on what the other is doing

- I know for a fact this girl is a praiser, she’s just so proud about them like a mother (especially when it comes to MANKAI)

- Takes almost no credit for them however, my girl has some insecurity issues being around such immensely talented people 😢

- She’s very talented in managerial aspects but she only found out after years of no talent in various arts

- She’s not one to tell people about her troubles (she knows she should) but people who know her well can tell when she needs a pick me up

- and one last happy one bc wow it got depressing and long: at least every few months, she schedules a weekend off and goes back to her hometown to spend time with her mother, after realizing that she should cherish more the family she has close by after moving into the MANKAI dorm and being reminded of family by the boys (both mother and daughter look forward to this event every time) (what do they do? Just relax and chat over Japanese snacks while her mother gives Izumi some tips on how to better run the dorm) (If you think Izumi is a praiser, her mother is worse, 1000% yaps about her wonderful daughter all the time to her friends behind Izumi’s back)

-Sakuya totally does the thing his stage actor does with him where he pulls down his sweatshirt when he’s holding still it’s so CUTE

-Tsuzuru has become the family therapist bc he’s so easy to talk to and be around, and if you talk to him while he’s super sleep deprived he’ll probably treat u like a child on instinct and then forget about the whole incident(this one is kinda already canon but whatevs :p)

-Banri is a very giggly and smiley person but tries SO hard to hide it(it is vv cute)

-Hyodo-Sakisakas being self-deprecating is actually hereditary. Their family has a huge history with anxiety and depression

-Genderfluid Kazunari. That is all.

-on the subject of lgbt headcanons, Azuma is genderqueer(idk what exactly, I get agender vibes from him) and mlm, no I do not take constructive criticism

-and Sakuya and Muku are ace. Liber told me themselves.

-is Banri allergic to cats? No? Well he is now because I think it’s funny

-Summer Troupe always has a seasonal sleepover in one of their members’ rooms and silly shenanigans ensue :)

-Tsuzuru did this. Kazu witnessed it.

-He’ll never admit it, but Masumi sleeps with a big stuffed panda bear and he is very emotionally attached to it. The only three people who know are Tsuzuru, Sakuya, and Muku.

-When Itaru plays claw machines in arcades, most of the prizes go to Sakuya, Muku, and Yuki(though he does keep some).

-Sakuya n citron have a galaxy light. It’s sweet. They just have calm n pleasant conversations at night and the atmosphere is just very comfy. Yeah they’re siblings Liber told me that, too.

-Saku seems like the kind of person who enjoys cleaning :)

oh my goodness gracious! you like blue b too?? I thought I would never find anyone like me literally everyone in the fandom forgets he exists (and to be real I don’t blame them) but do you have any headcanons on him? like his relationship with his father/uncle or just the third raikage in general?

AHH I love Blue Bee yeah! I really wish there was more with him in the series.

I think his dynamic with the third Raikage and its parallels (and more importantly its differences) with Killer Bee and the fourth Raikage are so neat.

It can be kind of hard to analyze these characters because there's so little about them (although I think there's more added in the anime? But I don't know anything about that) buuut that just means we get more headcanons! Here are a few random thoughts I've got:

I think that Kumo has SUCH interesting dynamics what with the current Jinchūki getting to know the future.

I think that would create... a lot of complex emotions. Blue Bee seems to be a pretty kind person, but even so (and especially with Gyūki's influence) I can see that becoming a tough pill to swallow.

I just can't imagine looking this kid in the eye and knowing they're going to replace you. Being told your successor has been picked and knowing (or maybe feeling before then) that your time is running out.

And on the flip side... knowing that your burden will be passed on to this kid. There was no way for Blue Bee to know Killer Bee would connect with Gyūki so well, and because of that he likely would have believed there to be a 50/50 that it would end horribly.

I think Fourth A supported KB a lot better than Third supported BB. I think that's for a few reasons (A4 and KB being closer in age and a brothers dynamic vs A3 and BB's uncle-nephew dynamic, for example), but I think the primary reason is because A4 just... loved KB so much.

I think A4 was willing to bend the rules a lot more, and he was willing to put KB first even when he perhaps shouldn't.

BUT. I think the reason why he was able to do that was because of his earlier dynamic with BB. He knew BB well, and he was able to see where his father had succeeded with him and where he had failed. And he had heard from BB's own mouth his reflections on being a Jinchūriki. And it meant when the time came he had a background on how to help KB.

And in conclusion: while far from perfect, Kumo's system on Jinchūriki continues to be the best.

it’s so funny to me that in Hisoka’s Phantom of the Opera’s backstage card he manages to fool the entire Winter Troupe into thinking he got possessed by a ghost, and the whole troupe believed him because “well we all lived through supernatural events, what’s one more” meanwhile Hisoka only did that because Tasuku got him out of his hedonist coffin and he decided to be evil in retaliation and he spent the whole duration of his fake possession eating marshmallow, ordering people around and flirting with Izumi. What a lad that guy is.

happy 1000 haruseonne days!

i originally wanted an a10-related au but it didn't feel right for my 1000 days with haruto so instead of overcomplicating things, i went with the au that encapsulates the essence of who i am as a person. :3

so here's a very smol piece of the whole a3 ballet au gig i have going krazy in my head and in my heart!

"Stop. Do that one more time, from the top."

"Hah!? What did I even do wrong now?"

Another late night, overtime stay at the studio. It's way past rehearsal hours now, so no dancer's supposed to be within GOD-za vicinity anymore; save for some of the staff and guards. But then, audition day for the role of Prince Siegfried in the ballet classic 'Swan Lake' is closing in very quickly, and my desired partner and I still have quite a lot of our work cut out for us.

"You have to elongate your developpe en avant more, really hold your arabesque, and make sure you land facing the audience in your attitude." I try to keep my critiques as concise as possible.

"Oh. That so? But I thought I was already doing all those..." Haruto furrows his brows and frowns. It isn't an expression made out of frustration per se, but more so of confusion.

It hasn't been that long since Haruto started ballet; in fact, his promotion from first artist to soloist happened only earlier this season. And if he does get casted as Prince Siegfried this time around, who knows, maybe another sweet promotion to first soloist is what's in store for him next. But he's improved so much in such time; even if he often rides high on praise, he'll insist mentally to himself that he's got an even longer way to go. He never changed being a hardworker, and I like that about him.

Well, I like everything about him to begin with.

"Enjoy watching me struggle with my variation?" He asks, while he takes a short break to secure the laces on both of his worn out shoes more tightly.

"Hm, not always. But I do love seeing your progress critique after critique." I hand over a water bottle to him, forgetting not to sneak in another one of the many compliments I have about him that he deserves to hear every now and then.

"So you do enjoy seeing me struggle," he says, accepting the bottle and shaking his head in disbelief. "You can be a real meanie sometimes too, y'know? More than I ever was before, even."

A lighthearted laugh escapes my lips and reduces the built up tension caused by hours and hours of practice inside the quiet room. The playful banter exchanged amidst our exhaustion leaves a creative rhythm in the air that can only be heard and recognized by us, two. Our unwavering devotion and yearning for the stage binds not only our careers together, but also our very hearts, most importantly.

"Stay with me, Seonne," Haruto requests, ignoring completely the beads of sweat forming all over his forehead and dripping down either side of his temples. "Just a few more runs and we'll call it a day, I promise."

I abruptly rise, toes aching a fair but tolerable bit from moving around in pointe shoes for more than eight hours now, eager to convince him that that is no where near a good idea. Setting down the music player containing recordings of each of our solos and pas de deux, I walk over to his crouched figure and kneel before him.

"Haruto-san." My index finger's right in front of his nose. "I'm sure you mean, just one last run, yes?"

"But, Seonneー"

I place my raised index finger over his lips, cutting him and his almost unreasonable reasons short.

"We're both well aware that GOD-za, as a ballet company, is extremely driven by the results of our shows. Just what do you think will Reni-san say when he finds out we're overexerting ourselves with our own set of rehearsals every night? If we become physically incapable of performing our roles due to overfatigue, then we're doomed!"

Haruto brings his eyes down to his lap, where his hands rest, seemingly in contemplation. I didn't want to sound too harsh, but it's the truth. We can't keep doing this until audition day. He can't keep forcing himself to go beyond the limits of his body. I can't afford to risk seeing him seated among the audience members with a broken ankle while I'm stuck on stage.

Clearing his throat, he tries for a compromise. "What if Iー"

"We run the whole thing?" I firmly insist. "From Allegro, to the Adage, to your solo, then mine, and lastly the Coda."

A couple moments more of careful consideration, and my Prince Siegfried understudy finally gives in. "Fine. Let's settle with that for tonight."

"Yay!" I happily cheer, throwing myself at him and wrapping my arms around his neck is an act of pure instinct. The fact that we are still technically in 'public' flew way outside my scope of consciousness. "Oops, sorry. Got a little excited there..."

"It's alright," Haruto flashes that cheeky grin of his, before quickly leaving a small peck over my browline. "After all, I can't have my dearest first soloist and soon to be principal dancer ruining their Swan Lake debut now, can I?"

"Absolutely not!"

With a race to see who gets to press play on our music player first, Haruto and Iーno. Prince Siegfried and Odile take over the rest of the night. For just how point(e)less would it be if we hadn't gone all out like it truly is our last?

Dancing to the beat of Tchaikovsky's greatest masterpiece is one thing; but to be sharing this beautiful work of art together with the person who I consider is the other half of me, is everything I ever dreamed of.

I got tagged by @skuitti like two months ago, and kept forgetting, but here I am! So, ten characters I enjoy, in no particular order

Alphinaud Leveilleur from Final Fantasy XIV. He is my brother, he is my son, and I love him to death. Ride or die. The assistance to his artisticness. In ARR he starts off overly sure of himself, and I have a weakness for characters like that, and then he grows from uh, that little experience in post-ARR and keeps learning about the world and how to live in it. A bleeding heart, though I'm sure he'd put it in different terms. He's way too smart for his own good, buddy needs to stop getting involved in every project in existence, but then he wouldn't be Alphinaud, I suppose.

Seere from Drakengard 1. He's kind in a world that offers little solace to those whose strength comes from kindness and compassion, and despite going through all that happens in DoD1, he doesn't lose that compassionate heart in DoD2.

Masumi Usui from A3! (the game, I never watched the anime). I have a fondness for character types like him, who love someone with their whole being and then some. Though he also tries to understand why the one he loves thinks it's unhealthy, and reflects on it, which I appreciate, since it's a bit less common to see in media with characters like him.

Byleth Eisner from Fire Emblem Three Houses (disclaimer: I only finished the Golden Deer ending). I actually love silent protagonists, and I thought it was fun how the game gave us a reason the MC didn't emote much. Yet the game allowed Byleth to mourn properly instead of glossing over that whole thing, which I also really appreciated. A low-emotion character was allowed to show their emotions, and not thought of as weird for it. I also thought it was sweet how throughout the game Byleth learns to show their emotions more, and seems to become happier than before. I also see myself in them somewhat, so there is that.

Atton Rand from Knights of the Old Republic II. He's fun, he's sassy, and he's always got the one-liner for the job. Despite that, he struggles with his past, and is hard to dig out the truth from, which I thought was a nice contrast. Every time I play KOTOR2 I have him in my team.

Gundham Tanaka from Super Danganronpa 2. He's such a fun character to play around with and ponder about. He's eccentric, and not afraid to show that. Unapologetic about being who he is, and yet he clearly has some issues I'd love to explore. I so badly want to learn how the world he's constructed in his head works, I want a guided tour and a pamphlet.

Infinite the Jackal from Sonic Forces. Now listen. He's cool, he's edgy, and over-the-top. What more could you want in a villain? If I had the money and the know-how, I'd love to make a proper cosplay of him.

Piers from Pokémon Sword and Shield (I've only played the game, I haven't seen the anime). He looks like a depressed raccoon, and moves in such slouchy arcs I can't help but relate. I respect and admire his attitude, in how he's ready to give hell to anyone who's trying to force him to conform, and how he goes his own way as much as he can without outright breaking the rules.

Albedo from Genshin Impact. I enjoy and relate to his calm but teasing personality, as well as how curious he is about everything. I find his lore interesting, and would love to hear more about it all. Besides that, I also really like the Dragonspine mountain, so that might've made me like him more. If I ever get back into Genshin, I'll try to pull for his constellations, he's like the most built character I have.

Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter (I stopped reading at around when the gang heard about the Dark Continent). I don't really have an explanation as to why I like him, I just remember him being instantly my favourite out of the main team. I did find it somewhat funny though how when he's traveling with Gon & Co. he's really enjoying himself, but when he's out and about by himself, he is absolutely miserable, and wallowing in rage. Poor guy needs a break. I actually almost made my first ever cosplay him, but ended up not doing that. Maybe if I ever pick up HxH again, I'll get inspired to do that. His robe looks so comfortable, and I'd love to wear the chain "glove" he has. Man, now that I've said that, I feel like going back to reading HxH (maybe re-read it?) just for him. Maybe this time I'll get past where I left off, which I've done twice now.

All in all, to become a character I like, you have to either be difficult to parse/be mysterious, be low-emotion, be fun, or be goth.

I love to see how each kid looks like their parents in different ways. I feel Lo’ak takes after Jake a lot more than Neytiri, who Neteyam definitely looks like. Their similarity emphasizes Lo’ak’s struggle to fit in with the Metkayina and to stay out of trouble. I feel Jake is hard on Lo’ak because he doesn’t want his son to repeat his mistakes.

Sometimes the callbacks to the first Avatar are too blatant for my taste, but I do love seeing Lo’ak act just like Jake. They’re both impulsive and strong-willed, curious and brave. I look forward to seeing his character development in avatar 3.

What kind of thoughts do you have about this?

Yeah, the call-backs could definitely feel a little ham-fisted/in your face, but perhaps they thought enough people wouldn't notice lol.

I think you're right about the kids taking after their parents. I wish we could've seen more comparisons between the kids and parents that included Slywanin and Tom, but they're still never mentioned, which sucks.

Lo'ak feels like such a complex character, and Jakes treatment of him made me mad tbh. Spoilers for sure ahead, but I think Jake saying "you've done enough." After Neteyam is killed is something that Lo'ak will NEVER forget.

I'm certainly interested to see where this will lead for A3!
