Everything hurt.

Or, rather, everything that he could feel hurt—which wasn’t much, or was hard to categorize, considering that opening his eyes felt impossible and thus his brain couldn’t register whether or not all of his limbs were attached or not.

“.... ohn. John, wake up.”

No thanks, he thought, tiredly, as pain splintered up his spine and radiated through his skull. No, I’m really quite good right here where I am.

“John,” and it was Joseph’s voice, muddled with the sound of steady rain. “Wake up.”

John felt the groan, rattling somewhere deep in his chest, as he pushed his eyes open. Then, and only then, did the agony really fucking hit—real, pure body-pain, the kind that sank straight into the marrow of his bones and stayed for a good many days. Struggling, he forced himself into a sitting position, hands flat against cold, wet pavement.

Hands flat. Free. Not cuffed.

“Good,” Joseph said, sounding relieved, “you’re awake.”

When his older brother extended his hand out, John took it; with a surprising amount of strength, Joseph hauled him to his feet, and he finally got a good look around him.

Carnage.

The highway was littered with bodies and blood and the mangled metal of crashed vehicles. He saw dark figures; it was night, late, and his eyes burned, and his body ached, and when the low snarl of one of Jacob’s judges echoed in his ears, he thought, ah, that’s it, then.

Jacob was there too, with Faith glued to his side. Her palms skinned and her dress torn, and the blood from Jacob’s gunshot wound seeping through dark-crimson. A steady sheet of silver rain had begun to fall, drenching them all; the chill seeped straight into his bones.

And, of course, there was Joseph. Relatively unscathed. Not an open wound in sight.

“How did—” John started, his brain still foggy from pain and, presumably, being unconscious. Joseph gripped his shoulders. There was a kind of look in his eye; fervent, urgent, and John realized that it had been there all along—that his brother had always looked like this, and maybe he had just gotten used to looking into different eyes as of late.

“Our followers have stayed true,” Joseph told him, his voice low. “The Collapse remains on the horizon. Perhaps—”

His brother stopped, as though to gauge himself.

“Perhaps,” he began again, “not as close as I thought. I prayed, John. I prayed for us—for you, and for your child, and even for...” Joseph’s mouth twisted viciously for a moment. “Even for that Delilah of yours.”

Elliot, he thought, a wave of sickening, burning fury washing over him even when the venom in Joseph’s voice doused him like gasoline. Liar. Lied to me, lied to my family, lied—

Wretchedly clever and cruel. More devil than woman. He had always known it, had loved her for it, and he couldn’t be surprised when his hand had come back from the fire burned. You can’t have both, she’d said, and she’d meant it; of course she had. He wouldn’t love her if she wasn’t the kind of woman who meant what she’d said.

“We have much to do,” Joseph plunged on, as headlights turned around the corner of the road. “God is going to speak to me, I know it. I can feel that we have so little time left, John.”

“Okay,” John said, feeling a little dazed, trailing after Joseph when he began to move to one of the nearby trucks idling. “Okay, yes, we’ll—what do we do about—”

He stopped, opening the door to the car automatically for Faith to climb in. Of them all, he thought maybe he was the least fucked up—outwardly, anyway. Inside, his body felt like it had been jumbled around, tossed like a fucking salad at Olive Garden. The ache in his head didn’t dull as the seconds ticked by.

Jacob paused. The redhead’s mouth twisted, like he was biting back the things he wanted to say; John knew it had to be something like I fucking told you, I told you the situation wasn’t under control, I knew you couldn’t control her, but the words didn’t come out.

And in his own mouth, words sat, too: I’m sorry, I know I fucked up, but I know I can get her back.

Not can. Would. Would get her back, no matter what. By any means necessary.

“John,” Jacob barked out, and he realized that moments had passed—maybe minutes—of him standing in the rain, the door of the truck open. He moved on autopilot, hauling himself into the back seat of the truck and slamming the door shut.

The air inside the truck was humid, fizzing and popping with a strange energy. He could taste it on his tongue, electric; ozone; vibrating in his mouth and in his skeleton. Some of it the storm outside, and some of it the fury in his mouth, so potent it had become tangible.

Mine, he thought, shifting as pain splintered up his spine and shoulder. My wife. My baby. She thinks she’s done with us, huh? Not even fucking close.

“We have much to do,” Joseph murmured as the truck pulled a u-turn and began its route back to the compound. “Now, more than ever.” Through the rearview mirror, his gaze met John’s; lingered for a moment, and only a moment. “We will find her, John. Her, and your child.”

John felt his eyes flutter. Exhaustion was already beginning to try and take its toll on him. “She traded us in.”

“Yes,” Joseph replied, and his voice was terse, sharper than normal. “But God is ever merciful. And are we not to liken ourselves in his image, so that we may be as holy?”

He didn’t know if he wanted Elliot back to be holy. He thought maybe he wanted her back because she belonged to him—because they belonged to each other, two wretched creatures, and she owed him, and he would have what was rightfully his. What he was owed.

“Yes,” John agreed hoarsely. “Just as holy.”

Nothing like dry-heaving over a toilet with your mother standing by.

“You know,” Scarlet said, “us Honeysett women have always taken well to childbearing. You were the most perfect baby, Elliot.”

Her mother was perched on the edge of the sink, a glass of rosé (chilled glass, of course) in her hand, golden curls perfectly pinned and coiffed and the floor-length maxi dress pressed to perfection—in stark contrast to Elliot, gripping the edge of the toilet in her sweats, stomach somersaulting and trying its best to achieve Olympic level gymnastics.

You’re not a Honeysett woman, she thought exhaustedly. You’re a fucking Graves woman. She managed to spit, taking in a long-suffering breath. “You said I was colicky.”

“Well, yes. But I never got morning sickness.”

Elliot gritted her teeth, eyes fluttering shut at the hot wave of nausea rolling over her, prickling sickly heat along her spine in warning. “That’s awesome, mama. Good for—” She swallowed. “Good for you. So glad. Really cool.” She exhaled. “Thank goodness it’s five in the afternoon. What’s that, then? Afternoon sickness?”

“Mm.” Her mother sipped at her wine, setting it on the counter with a little clink that somehow managed to sound three thousand times louder in her wretched state. “Yes, we’ve always been excellent vessels for our children.”

“That’s lo-uuh—” She closed her eyes tight. “Lovely.”

Scarlet’s fingers brushed her hair back from her face, cinching it in a ponytail. “Must be the father.”

You don’t fucking say? Elliot wanted to spit, but there was no room. Scarlet Honeysett tolerated a great many things—poor weather on the day of her events, a lukewarm glass to transport her alcohol, the repeated and systematic abandonment of her by her husband—but a mouthy child she did not.

“Educated inference,” is what she said instead. “I think I’m done.”

“Well.” Scarlet looked at her, arching a manicured brow. “Stay here for a while longer, then, just so you don’t go puking on my carpet.”

“Thanks, mama.”

“Mmhm.”

When her mother swept out of the bathroom and took with her the scent of her perfume—normally familiar and comforting, now only nausea-inducing—Elliot closed the door with her foot and leaned back against the wall in the bathroom. Her chest was burning; the strain of dry-heaving while the skin on her chest was still tight and healing was enough to have probably broken it open if she hadn’t been meticulously taking care of it.

And thank God her mother hadn’t seen that yet.

After a few more minutes of questioning whether or not she was going to actually puke, Elliot pushed herself to her feet and rinsed her mouth out with Listerine. It had not been easy, the last two weeks. Not only was she acclimating to living with her mother again—a thing which she had not done since she was in high school—but she was doing it pregnant. Pregnant, and with the child’s father nowhere to be.

Her arrival at the ancestral Graves home—a meticulously kept two-story historic building that had not only been in their family for so many years, but was planted on twenty acres of premium real estate in what was otherwise a small town named Weyfield—had been a tumultuous one, to be sure. Though her mother seemed inquisitive about what had occurred, she wasn’t even aware that anything had been happening at all.

Because she hadn’t been there.

“What do you mean?” Elliot had asked, incredulous.

“Well, I always come down here when the weather is starting to turn,” Scarlet had replied idly, squeezing her lime wedge dry into her glass. “I left In July.”

“The weather is not turning in July.”

“Some of us, Elli,” her mother had snipped, “are sensitive to changes in the weather. It’s not my fault you couldn’t feel it. Nor my fault that you didn’t answer my phone calls.”

It provided, at the very least, a bit of leeway when it came to explaining what was going on. Her mother had, of course, been aware of the Seeds in some capacity; but only in the kind of capacity that she thought them a zealous nuisance, and a little slimy—“Except for the oldest one, he seems like a good man,” she’d said, much to Elliot’s disgust—but nothing more than that.

This meant that Elliot didn’t need to tell her anything she didn’t want to. For now. Until the news broke, if it ever did; it seemed like headlines these days were more preoccupied with what was going on overseas than what was going on within the States’ own borders.

“Here,” Scarlet said, planting a pill bottle in her hand. “Take one of these thirty minutes before you go to bed.”

“What are these?”

“Sleeping pills,” her mother explained.

Elliot’s mouth twisted. “I sleep fine.”

“If you slept at all, I might believe you. I know you, Elli, I birthed you from my own womb, and you’ve never been a good sleeper.” The blonde paused. “And I hear you at night, you know, moving around. You and that hound.”

Boomer was fairly good at being stealthy, but perhaps not so much so in a house that was almost exclusively hardwood flooring. She’d have to remember that the next time she decided to go on a walk at three in the morning.

Elliot looked at the label. Eszopiclone, it said. S. Honeysett. “I probably shouldn’t take your prescription, mama.” And why are you giving me sleeping pills you should be taking, anyway?

“You need to sleep,” Scarlet said firmly. “For you and baby.”

It took a concerted effort to swallow back bile that tried to surge up her throat—for some reason, the knowledge that there was now a she and a baby, that she was both herself and vessel, made her nausea want to kick in. She hadn’t been sleeping, it was true. Not for lack of trying, either. She’d drink some kind of stupid sleepy-time tea, settle herself into the bed, and lay there. And wait.

And wait.

But every time she’d close her eyes, she would be assaulted by images; Joey, jaw snapped and hanging loose from her face. Kian, face a bloody pulp. The blood seeping down her chest from the WRATH scar John had left. And John, of course.

He was always there, too. His eyes on her, his hands on her, his mouth on her.

So good, hellcat, it’s gonna look so good on you.

I’m all yours, just take what you need, I’ll give you anything, anything.

I’m fucking it for you.

I love you, Elliot.

“... listening to me?”

Elliot blinked. Her eyes burned, stinging with the threat of tears, and she swallowed thickly again. It felt like choking. Things often felt like choking, nowadays—things like breathing, swallowing, sleeping. It all felt too much for her to take, sometimes. Like she was deranged.

“I’m sorry,” she managed out, her voice barely breaking a whisper, and the second she felt the slip of a tear down her cheek she quickly wiped it away and sniffed. “I’m sorry, mama, I wasn’t.”

Something in her mother’s expression shifted for just a moment. Her eyes swept over Elliot, like maybe she thought she could see what it was that was really ailing her. Scarlet had tried to pry about John; she’d tried to figure out who it was that had left her daughter destitute, like this. What she didn’t know was that Elliot had left him destitute.

He deserves it, she thought through the heavy wave of exhaustion. Whatever they do to him, he deserves it.

“Maybe you should take a nap,” her mother suggested after a moment. “Dinner in an hour.”

“I’m going for a walk,” Elliot replied, tucking the bottle into her pocket for later. “Boomer gets crazy if I don’t.”

“Well, can’t have that. Back in an hour, then, bunny.”

She slipped past her mother, snagging the dog leash by the door and calling for the Heeler. He came sprinting down the stairs delightedly, and Elliot opened the door so he could go racing out. He’d certainly gotten less time running than he had prior to this, but he seemed in better spirits, anyway—new smells, friendly people. It was a dog’s dream.

“Don’t forget you have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow,” her mother called after her. “I’m taking you in at nine A.M. sharp.”

“Yes, mama.”

The afternoon had passed by in a blitz, as it was wont to do in late Autumn, and now Elliot found herself with so little golden daylight left; but she thought maybe she liked it best like this, walking with Boomer darting around ahead of her, watching the sky wring the last little rays of light out of the sun before it dipped fully behind the mountains.

I love you, Elliot.

She stopped walking, closing her eyes for a moment. A low, dull headache had begun to bloom behind her eyes. Lack of sleep, probably. Lack of sleep, and now she had a—

A fucking baby, she thought, with no absence of despair.

Boomer had doubled back when she stopped moving, and for a moment Elliot felt a vicious sting in her chest. Cry, it said, when the dog nosed her hand with a cold nose. Cry, it said, when she struggled to sit down in the damp, chilly grass, and Boomer could push his face into hers.

She had been alone, before. Alone in all the world. But not anymore.

Boomer tucked his face against her neck and stayed there, panting his hot doggy breath down the collar of her shirt. And as dusk fell, and the first speckling of stars started to make their appearance, Elliot felt herself come undone.

Just a little bit; just for now, while she could bury her face into her dog’s fur and cry, she would come undone.

And when she was finished, she would get up and walk back home. She would sit down and have dinner with her mother, and listen to her complain that while the doctor they were going to see was quite new but supposedly very nice, and she’d take a sleeping pill so that she could hopefully get some peace of mind for one night. In the morning, she would get up and out of bed, and she would keep living. That was all she could do.

For now, though—for a little while, she would let herself grieve. And every time she thought she couldn’t do it anymore—every time she thought she’d reached the absolute bottom—she’d keep fucking digging. What would she do with grief, if not lug it?

She would never heal otherwise.

“Where the fuck is Weyfield?”

Jacob’s derisive tone did nothing to help John’s mood. Hunched over a map, the scattered papers of the file he hadn’t thrown away, eyes stinging, he thought he’d felt shittier only once before—long before his reuniting with Joseph. Back before he’d been cleansed.

He’d read every paper three times over. Stared at her photo for hours. Nothing felt any better than it had two weeks ago, when she’d been screaming that she would kill him.

“Some nowhere corner of Georgia,” John muttered, passing a hand over his face. “Her file says she was born in Weyfield, but that can’t be right—that shit is so small. Like, population three hundred, maybe? And her mom’s rich, which means—”

“Probably some kind of old money, then,” Jacob suggested. “Historic home. Lots of farmland surrounding it. Didn’t you say her grandfather was a racing jockey, mom never worked, or something? Gotta have room for horses and big fancy homes to go with those horses.”

Oh, John thought absently. Oh, of course. Of course her mother is a trust-fund baby. They would have an ancestral home, wouldn’t they?

They’d been back at the compound for a few weeks; Joseph had been secluded, alone, ruminating and marinating or whatever else it was he had to do to really hear God, and that meant John had been free to figure out what his plan was. So far, it was pretty bare bones.

Find Elliot and baby. Bring Elliot and baby home.

Joseph did not have a timeline, yet. He didn’t even know what it was that had delayed the Collapse—not quite. He had fervently insisted he be left alone to himself and God, to ensure that there were no interruptions—“Interruptions,” he’d said, “interfered with it last time, I won’t have it again,”—and so John, Jacob, and Faith had been left to rebuild what they could.

What members of Eden’s Gate remained after the veritable slaughter the Family had brought upon them were run ragged, but the nice thing about having an enemy meant that they were bound together by the same hatred.

“So that’s it, huh?” Jacob asked, breaking him out of his thoughts. “Weyfield, for the little hellcat?”

“That’s it.” John sucked his teeth and came to a stand, grabbing his coat from the back of his chair. “I should head out to Atlanta as soon as possible. I’ll need—”

“That’s a big city,” his eldest brother cautioned.

“That city has resources I’ll need. As much as I’d like to think that I could just track her down and we’ll kiss and make-up, I get the feeling that if I don’t do this the right way, it’ll be dragging her back kicking and screaming.” He paused, his voice tightening. “And I will be getting her back.”

Jacob watched him for a moment. He exhaled out of his mouth before he reached over, planting a hand on John’s shoulder. He half expected his brother to say something like, just forget it, Johnny, or it’s not worth running the risk of getting recognized, but he didn’t.

Instead, he said, “Be careful, keep in touch. And get my nephew back, yeah?”

John swallowed thickly. There was a lot wrapped up in those words; a lot that he had yet to parse through. Blinding, insatiable fury, that he had been tricked and lied to and deceived, but above all else—above all of that, he missed—

No, he thought, hands shaking and jaw clenching as he pulled his coat on. No, above all else, Elliot belongs to me, and that’s the beginning and the end of it.

“Don’t know it’s a boy,” he managed out, with all of those whispers rattling incessantly in his head. Jacob smiled.

“Joseph does.”

“I suppose so.”

A moment of silence stretched between them, and for the first time in a long time, John felt closer to Jacob than he did to Joseph—and maybe that was because he hadn’t seen his brother’s face in weeks, or maybe it was because he knew that for some strange reason, Jacob was pleased to have Elliot come back, and Joseph might not be.

Not if he was being honest, anyway.

“Off I go,” John blurted out, worried that he would get stuck in an infinite loop of trying to parse out things that weren’t meant for him to understand. “I’ll call when I get there.”

“Take someone with you?”

“It’ll just slow me down. Besides, I’m trying to not draw attention.” He paused, hesitating at the doorway of the church. “You’ll tell me when he knows, right?”

When he knows how much time I have?

Jacob’s expression hardened. He nodded once, short. “I will.”

“Thank you.”

John pushed the door open, stepping out into the night. It was chilly; soon, it’d be snowing, if it didn’t do so that very night, and the compound’s courtyard was bustling with sleepy life. As he climbed into the truck and took a breath to calm the rapid, unsteady beating of his heart, he closed his eyes for just one moment.

Just for now, he thought tiredly. I’m going to take a breath just for now, and then—

And then one more breath, and then another, turning the key in the ignition and shutting the radio off and throwing the car into drive, and then one more breath, until he was breathing all the way to fucking Georgia. He was going to get his wife back.

One way or another.

good morning everyone! our discord exclusive challenge is now in full swing, and those of us here on the staff have been thoroughly enjoying reading about your characters! if you haven’t joined the discord yet, we would highly recommend doing so so you can actively participate in the discord challenge for the chance to win some really cool prizes! we’ve got even more cool prizes available for development challenge #2 hosted here on tumblr, which i’m about to explain to you now.

the premise behind development challenge #2 is “road to euphoria,” and it is a series of prompts at three different difficulty levels designed to help you travel easily through the development process so that when we drop the application codes, you’re like “awe shit i basically have everything figured out already.”

now with all challenges, there are rules of the road so ... lets tackle those first.

O1. members of staff are encouraged to make development posts, however they will not be competing for prizes. O2. prompts from dev challenge one and dev challenge two can be stacked. ie: a post you made towards dev challenge one CAN be counted towards dev challenge two PROVIDED IT IS MADE VIA TUMBLR. any requests / posts made solely via the discord cannot be counted. additionally, you can stack multiple prompts from development challenge two, more on that later. O3. you can post for the same prompt more than once. ie; if you have three characters you can post from the “moodboard” prompt three separate times for each character. if you want to make one character six moodboards, you can also do that. have fun. ok, due to being in the hospital giving birth, i missed a second payment on my car insurance in one term. i was told by my broker that was it, there was nothing i could do, they would cancel. my insurance company is ING. i said ok so what next? she told me on july 10th that they were sending out a registewred letter that day stating it was cancelled (my payment was late on june 25th). 2 wks later i had not received anything so i called my broker again. this was at 1 pm (they close at 4) and no one called me back. finally, i called back again, she called ING and called me back saying ok they said if you can pay it today it wont be cancelled (i had asked MULTIPLE times if this was an option, i was told no) by the time she told me that, it was 330 pm. I live a 1/2 drive away and by the time i got the baby together, went to the bank etc, it would be after their closing time so i couldnt do that. i contacted another broker who my mother deals with and he told me that they would send me my""

I live in North Carolina and I'm trying to get a license to purchase and operate a 150cc motorcycle. In North Carolina you must have a license for an automobile before you can get an endorsement for a motorcycle. Right now I'm learning how to drive a van so I can get a motorcycle endorsement. Before you can get a license for an automobile you must have proof of liability insurance (DMV form DL-123). Do I actually need a vehicle with a VIN number to get liability insurance? Or do I have to purchase non-owners insurance first and then switch it over to motorcycle insurance after I get an automobile license with motorcycle endorsement?

On the recent updates

Screenshots to accompany later as we’re having some issues with the tumblr phone application.

1) Message bug - Positive change. The only complaint we have is that this has been a known bug for years. Staff knew a very terrible work around that involved guessing the ID of the message that was unread, which they passed to users having the problem. This should have been fixed 4 or more years ago.

2) Guides forum - Positive change. This helps a little with our complaint that there are too many stickied topics in the forums. It doesn’t entirely fix that particular problem and we still stand by our previous suggestions. This is a great addition for the simple fact that the topic about Premium subscriptions that we had mentioned in our original post about Karlos - and that was mentioned by Krasus/Gren - is now more obviously still available for viewing.

3) Pack Renaming - Positive change, but still another “Why wasn’t this done years ago?”. We won’t harp on this too much going forward because a lot of these changes are going to be ones that should be have been done ages ago.

4) Deleting posts alert - Positive change. According to Meraki aka Laney in the comments of the newest news post, there is now a confirmation alert when you try to delete a post. Great. Quick question? Why wasn’t this in the news post, and why is a member of Art Staff having to put this in the comments? Is it really that hard for Jekyll to edit these news posts? I swear we’ll both scream at the top of our lungs if we find out that news posts can’t be edited after they’re posted on site. At this point we really shouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.

5) Mod applications opened - Oh, boy. We don’t discourage anyone from applying but we would ask that anyone interested keep in mind the things discussed on this blog from former staffers. Our suggestions for anyone that wants to be a mod while being aware of the problems presented are this -

Always stand up for yourself.

Don’t let Karlos, Jekyll or any staff member bully you into things you aren’t comfortable with. Your position as a staff member isn’t worth it. If you feel like disagreeing with something will mean you’ll be demoted, let them demote you. Stand up for yourself and your beliefs.

Always take screenshots.

If something happens or something is said that you feel is inappropriate or unprofessional, screenshot it. Not because we want more content, truthfully. Should anytime in the future you want to confront any of these dimwits about something that was said or done, you need to have proof. Even if you just want to share with others. Make sure you get proof. If you have solid evidence, no one can discount your experience.

This goes double for anything Jekyll says to you, because she apparently cannot remember anything she said two minutes prior. Show her proof it happened so she can’t act like it never did.

Don’t work yourself into the ground.

This especially goes for anyone who becomes a staff artist. You’re not being paid, this is a volunteer position. If you’re dealing with so much as a moderator that you feel stressed about it, you’re working too hard. If no one else on staff is helping you, there is a problem. Leave.

Karlos won’t help you.

It’s very evident from numerous accounts that Karlos, the owner of the website, won’t do jack shit for you. And from what we’ve seen, if it involves Jekyll, Fang won’t stand up for you either. This goes back to the first suggestion - Always stand up for yoursef.

Interesting note that two moderators - Kiev and Faren - have stepped down recently. Their profiles claim this is due to school and finals coming up in the next month and that they might return. This is fine, but we’re curious why they stepped down. In the past and honestly currently, inactive staff members is just a part of Wolf-Haven. We almost never see LunaLuna or Laomi online or actively moderating, but they’ve been steady staff members for years. Now the staff list is comprised majorly of staff members that are usually inactive, which is quite funny. We’re confused why Faren/Kiev didn’t stay on as staff as finals can’t really take up more than two months of inactivity. That’s really nothing compared to the records some staff members hold.

This goes back to a post we made earlier calling Karlos a liar at his opening line -

“I've been messaged by a number of people who are unhappy with how the standing system is set up, the biggest issue seems to be that it's far too difficult to both get back to neutral from a negative standing as well as it being difficult to get a positive standing from either neutral or negative standing. These are fair complaints.” (Can you write a more annoying run-on sentence, might we add. Have you ever heard of commas? Or did you let Jekyll write this for you, Karl?)

Oh, no you have not be messaged by anyone. Except maybe your own staff as they linked you this blog, which you check daily. The only reason you’re bringing this up is because Sheri came and mentioned account standings in her submission, along with us touching on it. Don’t act like you’ve suddenly decided to listen to random users. You’ve got your pride hurt because there is a blog out there, that people actively are reading, that don’t buy your lazy brand of bullshit.

Oh, well. On to the topic contents itself.

1) Negative Standing showing on profiles - Positive change. This needed to happen when negative standing was first put into place. Outside of moderators happening to notice someone with a negative standing trying to sell things, users have no idea if the person they’re commissioning or buying a design from has a negative standing. We imagine this has led to many users being scammed by someone well known for scamming.

2) Negative Standing = Last Warning - Conflicted/confused change. We’re confused because we wonder why this wasn’t already the protocol for moderators. From what we understand, receiving a warning - not a verbal warning, but an actual warning issued by some kind of automation triggered by a moderator - should give a user a negative standing. Do moderators not issue bans already to users in this situation?

The other conflict we have is wondering if a user has a negative standing for art theft, if they are then banned because they did an entirely different rule breaking offense. If so, that’s a bit stupid way to do things. Most websites work on a step system in terms of discipline for rule breaking. Verbal Warning -> Official Warning -> Mute/Suspension -> Ban (set time) -> Ban (longer time/permanent). If you stole art and received a verbal warning, and did it again and got an official warning but then spammed the forums, you should receive a verbal warning for spam. Not a ban. Each offense has its own steps that are followed. This of course may change depending on the situation, and perhaps sometimes a ban would be warranted.

3) Negative Standings have a “cool down” - Positive/conflicted change. Conflicted only because there are no doubt some users that should have a negative standing for longer than the “cool down” period. This is situational and a moderator would need to make a case by case evaluation. No doubt Karlos will not think of this and will not code an override for moderators. We would suggest this on the topic but that would lead to Karlos discovering one - or both - of our identities. We know he reads this blog so he’ll probably see this! If you choose to ignore it, it’ll only be at the suffering of your website, and the buffering of your pride.

4) Negative Standing “cool down” periods are paused during bans/mutes - Positive change. Not much to say about this, it makes sense.

5) Commendations for users - Conflicted change. This goes back to what Sheri was talking about, that staff are too lazy &/or inactive to notice when users do things that should deserve positive standing. This is just Karlos coding the current the nomination topic into the site. This doesn’t fix the problem that roots with staff performance.

The other issue we have is how staff are supposed to validate these commendations. If someone is nominating another user for something they did and it wasn’t public, they could just be lying. Is staff expected to investigate these commendations and make sure they’re real? Do you really expect your staff to put time into that, when they won’t give out positive standings on their own?

6) Users who lose positive standing, will have perks revoked - Neutral change. Removing the profile icon makes sense, removing a custom only fit for a positive standing account we’re iffy on. Customs rules are such a asinine nightmare that something as simple as not having horns cut off in as many emotes, could be grounds to having a custom stripped. Custom rules desperately need to be revamped by someone who isn’t Jekyll before we’d be more on board with this. Removing customs that are very clearly not wolves is an entirely different matter. There are, however, many customs that bend the stupidest custom rules and are so minor that most users wouldn’t even realize it required a positive standing to upload. If this is supposed to be about not visually “promoting” these users anymore, this needs to be done with a great deal more scrutiny.

That’s really it. The positive changes are things that should have been dealt with years ago. They are so few we wonder if Karlos just coded a couple of things in five minutes so it looked like he was doing something. Some of these things are so minor they really should be included in a huge changelog of other small touchups that needed to be done. Alas, as we’ve said many times before, Karlos only cares about his public image. Not his website.

Oh, before we forget, Karlos! Did you know that if you spam click the “## Comments” link under each news post, it drops down several instances of the comments in succession? Maybe something you should consider fixing!

2019 In Review

This year marked the start (or rather, a continuation) of my transition into society. It kind of sounds weird when I put it that way, but the truth is that I have much to learn about how society works and that despite all my time on the Internet, I’m gonna have to face up to reality sooner or later. I’ve never really created a name for myself outside of my anime posts, English dub rants, or even my work on preserving the Sea Princesses series, but I still hope to continue posting online at times.

Where previous reviews were released on New Year’s Eve, this year’s review will be released a bit earlier for reasons that I’ll elaborate on in this post. Let’s begin after the break.

Sea Princesses

2019 has been a big year for Sea Princesses. During the first half of the year, I worked on transcribing the episodes and writing plot details for the wiki, since not a lot of work was put into them since the other admin, Liggliluff, joined the wiki in 2015 and gave provision for them. In the second half of the year, I renovated the character pages, adding infoboxes and story involvement (highlights for the major characters) to them. I also created pages for the (named) animals that appeared in the series. Since the wiki is pretty much complete at this point with the addition of transcripts and episode plots, any further work on the wiki from me (in regards to the animated series) is up to whether I feel like doing any.

After six months of seeing no further uploads on the Mr Bean and Friends channel, I caved and decided to shell out some money on a premium account to download the Amazon Prime episodes someone had uploaded to a website. Six months after that, I found that someone had downloaded the episodes themselves and uploaded them to KimCartoon. I know this was way after everything I had done, but better late than never, I suppose. The sad thing was that a few weeks after that, someone reached out to me on the Lost Media Archive saying that they had ripped some of the episodes from ABC iView and put a link to their MEGA folder on 4chan /trash/ and not /co/, which led to me not realising it until he told me about it. Regardless, the split English episodes and Spanish Disney Channel raws are still in my cloud drive folder.

While working on the transcripts for the wiki, I also wrote a review of the series. After watching it, I found that there were quite a few disappointments here and there, but the series wasn’t as bad as I had remembered it. Also, from July to October this year, artist Princess Rainbow Channel did some amazing fanart of each character in the series (including background characters) that trumps everything I had seen before and possibly after. Feel free to check it out here along with my reaction and her response.

Public opinion of the series depends on where you are; in Brazil, people are still bringing it up in their childhood memories on Twitter (usually in response to the question “what were some cartoons you remember from when you were young”), while in Australia, you barely get anyone talking about the series and even if you did, quite a few of them would be people trashing it. I’d seen a couple of Americans who had apparently seen the series as well; aside from the Latin American Spanish version, I have no idea which channel the English version was broadcast or where, otherwise I’d have known by now.

So like I said, the wiki is pretty much complete in terms of the TV series. As for the Princesas do Mar books, I am hoping to cover them in the long term when I have the money and capacity to do so. If you want information about them now, then I’m hoping that someone (mostly from Brazil) will be kind enough to provide transcripts and/or snapshots of them. There won’t be anything about the books on the wiki (with the exception of Marcela and the titles of the books) until I get that information, whether it be from a kind volunteer or by myself, so the entire thing’s pretty much on hold until then.

One thing I realised - the author, Fabio Yabu, recently published the first volume of the Combo Rangers graphic novel for free on WEBTOON. No doubt about it, Sea Princesses would have been more popular if it had received as much love as Combo Rangers. Maybe it’s time that Yabu showed some love to the series after nearly a decade since the last Princesas do Mar book published by Panda Books - I wouldn’t mind seeing rereleases, a graphic novel, ebooks or a compendium of the ten books published by Panda Books (those are the titles that I’m hoping to focus on for the wiki, everything else is irrelevant). With my current situation right now, if I can’t get transcripts or screenshots, then I’d be more happy to spend my money buying ebooks than printed books from Brazil.

Doctor Who

Right at the start of the month, the release date for Doctor Who Series 12 was announced to be on New Year’s Day with subsequent episodes to air on Sundays. Like with Series 11, I’ll be continuing the Thirteenth Doctor reviews after the episode airs. The prelude post will come out later with more details. In fact, it’s because of this that I decided to release this post earlier instead of on New Year’s Eve. That’s pretty much the only reason.

English Dubbed Game News and English dub rants

In case you guys missed it, I’m fully moving on from talking about English dubbed games. I don’t know if anyone ever saw this coming since the end of the feud a couple of years back, but I guess my promise to stand tall back at the end of 2017 must sound ironic now.

As I explained back in September, I’ve lost interest in video games altogether and had conflicting thoughts on how to deal with the occasional toxic comments on my pages. I didn’t mention this back then, but in case you were wondering, no, all the Vic Mignogna stuff did not play a factor in my decision. I’ve never been a fan of him so I don’t care and to be fair, innocent or guilty, he is really only one voice actor. In terms of Koei Tecmo games, he only voiced two characters in Dynasty Warriors 7 and 8 (Jia Xu/Xiahou Ba) along with two characters in Samurai Warriors 3 (Mitsuhide Akechi/Yoshimoto Imagawa), which, I should remind you, never made it onto a Warriors Orochi game. If Koei Tecmo wanted to replace him when the allegations came out, they would have done it already. Ironically however, they did just that with Dynasty Warriors 9, but with the whole cast because of the voice actor strike.

Speaking of the voice actor strike, I’ve noticed something that I never did back when I was writing the rants; a lot of voice actors are part of SAG-AFTRA and I’ve deduced that Japanese game companies are being cheap and cutting corners in localisation (specifically, dubbing) because they don’t want to hire union actors because of the cost (presumably). Additionally, I’ve also read that union actors can’t openly do non-union work, which leads to them being uncredited officially. I know I’ve supported the union during the voice actor strike, but I can’t help but think that I should have criticised them at some point during my rants because their rules for union actors kind of play a factor in this whole debacle of video game dubbing.

I’ve suggested crowdfunding as a way to raise funds to hire (union) voice actors, but in recent years, I’ve seen them go the way of Western game companies and put out season passes and neverending DLC packs. Anyone who defends game companies for being cheap and not dubbing their games has no right to complain about them being greedy in other areas. I kind of saw it coming myself, which didn’t come as a surprise to me. As far as I’ve heard, there aren’t any loot boxes or pay-to-win gimmicks in Japanese games, so I guess I’m still relieved.

As for my opinion on all of this or Japanese game companies, including Koei Tecmo, they haven’t changed much, although I’ve become more and more apathetic towards them given my declining interest in video games. Much as I hate to admit, I’ve gotten back into playing older Warriors games I still have for nostalgia and because I was bored and wanted to procrastinate. This shows that regardless of my thoughts, I’m still grateful towards Koei Tecmo for the games that inspired me in certain aspects of my life.

I’m going to burn a few bridges here and say some fuck yous to a few groups. First of all is a big fuck you to the haters, namely the dub haters, sub purists and opinion-neutrals (that much is obvious). Next up is a fuck you to Japanese game companies for being cheap in localisation (and by extension, even cheaper in DLCs), then a smaller, belated and ironic fuck you to voice actor unions like SAG-AFTRA for making the rules that lead to Japanese game companies being cheap in the first place and enabling them to keep doing it. Finally, a really ironic fuck you goes to my fans and all other fans of English dubbing - the fact that nobody else had made something like EDGN by this point, let alone before I found and joined the page, is really telling of what little you do to promote dub advocacy, let alone not being aware that things like said page or #NoDubNoBuy exist or supporting them by liking or sharing my posts.

Anyway, the current plan is to finish posting whatever games I’ve got in the backlog before New Year’s Eve and then unpublish the page sometime after. I’m not going to delete the page out of respect to its creator, who despite still being an admin on the page, has never posted anything since I joined it. The games list will be kept up through this link for reference. Despite the fuck you I just gave my fans (particularly the 230-so followers on EDGN), I want to thank everyone for the support you gave over the years and invite you to continue following me on my Facebook and Tumblr pages.

The state of social media

I felt that I should address something given YouTube’s new measures regarding COPPA, not forgetting that they literally said that they have no obligation to host content. At the start of last year’s review, I stated that there was always something that managed to affect my Internet life in stupid ways. I haven’t been affected directly this year, but YouTube’s measures have led me to think about what would happen if Facebook were to follow suit, particularly because Tumblr already banned NSFW content at the end of last year and Twitter looks like it’s about to follow suit themselves.

Sure enough, YouTube suddenly updated their harassment policy, which resulted in the Leafy Content Cop being removed as a result of retroactive enforcement. I’ve got nothing much to say about this except that it just proves what we’ve been suspecting all along. To be honest, around the time of the NSFW ban on Tumblr, I was kind of expecting that the parody I did would get flagged ironically, but I guess it never got near the radar, not that there would be any justifiable grounds for it.

Anyone who celebrates censorship or deplatforming with the same argument that “private companies can do whatever they want” should really look at themselves in the mirror because if any of this has proved anything, it’s that anyone can be censored or deplatformed with or without reason whether they’re following the rules or not. You’re all just sitting ducks and you don’t even know it even though you play by their rules in the hope that you won’t be next.

On a more lighter note, I wonder if I should use paragraph gaps instead of horizontal rules in future posts, given that Tumblr removed functionality for the latter in the rich text editor. Sure, I could manually add them in the HTML editor, but it would mean that they would disappear when I switched back to the rich text editor, regardless of whether I saved or not, and it would absolutely kill me to put them back in the exact same spots when I’ve changed something there.

In regards to Hong Kong

Back in August, I made a post about how I nearly got deplatformed from Facebook by the guy behind the feud because of what I said in my repostings of Hong Kong news. I really want to look back and laugh at it now not only because him doing so made him look like a pro-Beijing supporter, but because a pro-Beijing politician he scapegoated as a dub hater in a parody post to evade my criticism of him as such lost his seat in the district council to a pro-democracy newcomer.

In that post, I admitted that I did use some racial slurs in some of my repostings. Given the escalating violence (on both sides, police and protesters) since the start of the protests in June, I’m just gonna come right out and say it - if I could use one word to describe it and the negative reaction from those against the protesters (around the world), it would be the hard-r n-word. I used that word against said pro-Beijing politician because like many other people, I don’t think he’s a good person in any way. He’s advocated violence against pro-democracy supporters, has suspected links to the triads and commended old men in white shirts attacking people in black shirts at a train station following a protest some distance away. If that third thing doesn’t remind you of white (shirt) supremacy, then I don’t know what will. Let’s not forget that at the time, I reposted some news about him not being admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales, making him a “fake lawyer n-word”.

In case there are people who disagree with my (former) use of the slur, I want to acknowledge something here. I know I’m using the slur towards Chinese people instead of its historical target, namely people of African origin, but if it helps move the focus away from the latter, then so be it. If I could find another (preferably stronger) word to describe it, then I would, but at this point, I should be lucky that I’m able to control my anger and not use the actual word itself. If you don’t like how I used the n-word at all, then fuck you, you missed the point, but of course, you’re free to leave.

I don’t want to talk about the finer details or criticisms of any party involved in the protests, but I’m quite amazed with the pro-democracy protesters’ motto of not splitting their movement, not condemning the violence from the radical side and not ratting anyone out. In my interpretation, the radical protesters know that their so-called “violence” is illegal, but the other protesters can’t condemn them because words have barely had any effect on the government and they know that the radical protesters are the only people who have a chance of making the government cave into their demands or expose the true sides of Hong Kong and China’s governments to the international community, because their failure to do so five years ago was because they failed to keep their movement together. I probably don’t know as much about this compared to Hong Kong locals or immigrants, but I wager that at least some of my interpretation is spot on.

Two years ago, I said on my personal Facebook page, “I hope that the future of Hong Kong and its politics will improve for the benefit of the people, especially the younger generations, given everything that has happened up to now”. I know it may seem ironic right now, but I believe that the future will continue to improve for the better, but if it turns to the worst, then I hope that due justice may be served.

At the start of this post, I said that I was undergoing a transition into society. I’ll be finishing my university course and graduating at the end of next year, so at this point, I’m currently out looking for work. A lot of people make it look easy, but in truth, it’s been quite excruciating for me; because of some government benefit thing I signed up for, I have a quota of job applications that I need to send per month. It sounds easy, but after a while, it becomes so hard when you look at a job you think you’ll like and realise that you don’t have the necessary skills or experience for it. All I can say for myself is that I’ll keep praying for guidance and hope that I can find something that fits with my timetable, at least until I graduate.

The Freshman, Book 4, Chapter Four: My Thoughts

So like, why bring luggage in the place if you were just gonna leave the next day? Seriously, save the arm work and just grab a few clothes to wear to bed and then to get dressed in the next morning. I’m either efficient or lazy.

So we’re going to go to a club, and apparently we gotta get there early because it fills up fast. Chris says we just had lunch, but then James explains that it’s in Manhattan, which is two hours away, more with traffic. Which means we gotta go now.

Someone texted James, and he got all frowny-faced. Who is it? Is it Yasmin? Some other chick? MOFO WE JUST BROKE UP LIKE?!?!

It’s his friend Teddy (Let’s have a game on the Teddy Picker) and apparently ol’ boy is trying to make it big in comedy. He invited James to open mic night. Apparently James has to rain check for poor timing. And I’m sitting here like bruh, fuck the club let’s go have a laugh.

I’m up for some comedy. Aww, Chris mentioned Tyler. I miss him! He’s always been a sweetie and a good friend. I wonder how he and Abbie are? Hopefully the exact opposite of Zack and Brandon.

Again, wtf was the point? We got her approval on the outfit that I’m not going to buy, big fucking whoop. No new information was presented. No drama bombs. Absolutely nothing to forward the story in any way. This is all just filler content. This is just a bullshit story for money and not for the sake of telling a god damned story. I’m legit considering not reading this book any longer. But I need diamonds, so I’ll do it anyway. Doesn’t mean I’ll waste my time reviewing it.

We eat hot dogs for dinner and chill out. We start singing. Someone throw us a dollar or something. Or shoot us. I’m open to all kinds of things.

End chapter. I’ll consider reviewing the next one tomorrow, since I’m a week behind it but also very much hate this book right now.

I attended SWC5 in Seoul on the global package SM offers and I wanted to share my experience on the tour and at the concert with everyone! Mainly so I can talk about the global package and explain what it is and how it works as there wasn’t too many sources about it when I was doing my research prior to going on the package.. That and I also wanted to talk about the awesome experience I had at the concert, because oh my god SHINee was absolutely incredible!!

The details of the global package & the first day of the global package: merch pick up

Before I get into this, here’s a big tip if you’re going on global package, well a Korean concert tour package at the least. Try bringing a friend or find someone beforehand who is in the same tour group as you online, or be able to speak Japanese. There were about 25 or so people in the tour group I was in and there were five people who weren’t from Japan (from what I found out) including myself, all the others were Japanese shawols. I was aware beforehand that Japanese fans take most of the global packages on Korean tours, but I did not expect for there to be as many J-shawols as there was. For every.. 10 shawols there were, I would say maybe one or possibly two of them were a foreigner where as the others would be Japanese. I went to the package alone, with the friends that I had made online in other tour groups and had hopes of befriending some of the people in my tour group. I didn’t get to do that, mainly because of the language barriers with the Japanese shawols (who were all still super lovely despite not being able to properly communicate with them!!) and also because of the foreigners who were in my tour group.. Which I’ll be touching on later.. But anyway! Though I still had a great time on the tour by myself, but it would have been a much better experience if I had had someone with me. So do try befriend people before going or get a friend to do a twin package so you’re not like me and snapchatting your best friend who was fast asleep in Finland because she is the only person who you can communicate with about everything going on around you!

Back on topic! I went on the 2 day (Saturday & Sunday) superior global package for SHINee World Concert 5. There were 4 different package levels for SWC5; economy, superior, deluxe and premium. Most of the time if you’re looking into the packages, most of the info you’ll find will be on the premium, because that one is definitely the most interesting out of them all. Premium allows you to have an extra event to do on your tour and also a bunch of exclusive premium package only goods. The economy, superior and deluxe are all still really good too, they just don’t have the extra event and you don’t get as many goods as the premium package (which is could possibly be a good thing because you get SO MUCH extra stuff). As you can probably guess by the titles of the packages, the package you buy determines how nice of a hotel you stay in and also how good your seat is for the concert(s). In my superior package I was in a 3 star hotel in Gangnam, and I personally liked the hotel (Mainly because the TV had an Australian channel and to hear Australian accents after only hearing Korean and watching CNN with all their American accents for the last few days was absolutely amazing) and was comfortable there. For the concert, I reckon that I got pretty good seats as well! The tickets are drawn the night before your first concert so you only find out the night before where you’ll be seated. I was on the left side of the stage both nights, in the stands the first night and on floor the second night. I was in the front row of the stands for the first concert I attended and was about three or four seats away from the railing and had a really amazing view of the concert. Second night I was six seats away from the left of the extended stage. I preferred the stands, mainly because I got a better view of the whole concert and it wasn’t as overwhelming for myself, but I did like them both and I got to see SHINee in person so. I’m not too sure about the seating for the other three categories but I know in premium you can get front row seats of the main stage or extended stage, which sounds amazing!

If you want to get in the package, you have to be quick. You will be up against a lot of people, mainly the J-shawols as they are the majority of people who are going for the packages on Korean tours. With SWC4, I know that it sold out in minutes and barely anyone was able to get tickets. SWC5 was a lot more relaxed but still very stressful anyway, all the tickets sold out in an hour but I would still recommend getting on to it as soon as it opens because you would obviously want your preferred package rather than what is left over. Packages will also come back in stock as well, since you can hold a package for 2 hours before paying, if you don’t it’ll be relisted and also people may abandon the tour. So even if you don’t get into the package right away, keep checking back often because who knows, maybe you’ll be able to get one that someone had to cancel on! Also, the last two SWC added a third concert later on (I’m not sure about 1, 2 & 3 since I’m forgetful otl), and SM will offer the global package again for that day too so you could have a chance with that concert too!

Sign up with SM Travel beforehand if you’re considering the global package. They will send you emails of the packages they’re offering and will also give you the first notice of when the package will be on sale. The concert is usually announced a month or so in advance and the global package tickets are sold a few days after that announcement. You get emailed about the date and time of the tickets release about 24 hours before hand, which I personally didn’t like because guess who is very good at stressing themselves out, so please be prepared for the ticket sales to be randomly thrown at you. You also won’t get access to the ticket-selling page until a few hours before hand, so I would recommend checking out the other packages that SM is offering for a vague idea of what you’ll be paying. Also make sure that you fill out your details in the SM Travel site so you can claim your tickets as soon as you possibly can with out having to dilly-dally as you’re madly rushing to make sure you got your tickets. The global package is expensive, especially if you live in Australia and the AUD is forever weak little shit head. A one day economy ticket was about.. $300 to $400 USD I think? I didn’t check, sorry. The premium for 2 days was over $1000 USD if I remember correctly. My package for the superior level 2 concert days was.. I think $900 USD? I honestly don’t really remember because I cared more about the AUD value which was obviously more since the AUD is weak and really needs to pick up it’s bloody game, god. Anyway!! You select your package when the tickets go on sale and if you are successful you have 2 hours to pay for your package via paypal. And then you cry a bit because you actually got tickets. You’re seeing SHINee. Holy Shit!!

I had 2 friends I knew beforehand who also went on the global package for SWC5 too and we all had problems with the SM travel site. The SM Travel site is where the status of your ticket can be found, as you don’t get too many emails from SM about the package until merch preorder, which is about a week or two before the concert. Myself and one of my friends both had the problem where our payment status was saying that it hadn’t been done and my other friend had some issues with worrying that she didn’t get tickets which lead to some more stuff that isn’t extremely important unless you’re in the situation she was in. But if you have any worries about the status of your ticket or the package, the SM Travel team are easy to communicate with you can just email them or send them your question in the Q&A tab they offer on the site. I contacted them two or three times before the concert, the first they gave me a response a few hours later and the second time.. I had to email them a few times because they didn’t answer me until over a week later. Otl. But despite it taking so long, they did apologise and gave me the answers that I was after. Though they’re pretty vague with their answers, they will still help you and get your problems fixed. So if there are any issues, just email SM Travel and they will fix what you need and give you answers, even if it takes a week of you panicking to do so. When you do contact them though, make sure you give them your name and client number so they can directly help you and not give you a general answer!

So, what do you get with the global package. I should have mentioned this earlier but I’m too lazy to go back through this already 1600 word mircrosoft word document and put it in nicely. Sorry, otl. Pretty much what you get is your hotel for the night before the concert and the nights you attend the concert(s) (You can also extend the time that you spend in the hotel, which you have to pay extra for), your concert tickets, a global package only tour, preorder of concert merch, global package only goods and one meal. All the rest like flights, travel insurance, spending money and such are things that aren’t included in the package that you’ll have to source and buy yourself.

Okay so there is like a week and a half until you leave to go to Korea and you finally get your merch preorder email! You get about a day’s notice of the fact you can order your merch soon and you’ll see the merch you’re able to order a little before you can actually place your order. Something that really pissed me off with merch preorders was sharing images of the merch. You get told several times not to share the pictures of the merch you receive on social media, so please don’t do that. I saw a lot of pictures from the listings flying about on twitter and tumblr before I was able to place my order and I was very very annoyed by that, so please don’t do it. If you see it, don’t share it. God. But yeah, merch preorder. You get to preorder your merch so you’re not waiting in crazy lines on the day(s) of the concert. You are only able to order one of each thing, besides the light sticks, which you can order two of. You’re able to place a few orders from what I’m aware of.. But just not of the merch that you’ve already ordered. Say I wanted to add an extra item that I forgot to put in my last order; you’re able do that. You just can’t buy, for example, another poster if you already ordered a poster in another order. With some of the merch as well, there was not enough stock of certain things so they had to be put up for a raffle amongst the people who ordered them. Nothing that I ordered was put into a raffle so I can’t tell you how it worked, sorry. You get a weekend to order the merch, so I wouldn’t put it off for too long because you don’t want to forget and miss this opportunity that you’ve paid for. The merch you buy isn’t included in the price for the package, so it’ll be something extra you pay for which you’ll also do via paypal.

You find out your hotel a bit after you order your merch. You’ll have a vague idea of where you will possibly be before you get told as on the forum you select your tickets on has a list of hotels you can be placed in. I’m pretty sure that there were around 6 options in the list for superior? I’m also not sure about where all the levels of the hotels were, but I was in Gangnam with a 10 minute walk away from Coex with the package that I was in. I also know that the premium people were placed in a hotel that is pretty much in the Coex shopping centre and that it’s fancy. But yeah, your hotel email pretty much tells you what hotel you’re in, how to get there and when you need to check in and out. It isn’t much, but trust me it’s a relief to know where you’re staying after not knowing for almost a month.

Then after your hotel email you’ll get your schedule a few days later with the tour group you’ll be in, so now you can start scampering about online to try and hunt down people in the same group as you so you’re not all alone like me during the tour! I’d explain what was in the schedule, but I’m pretty much going to go through the entire schedule in detail now because oh my gosh!! 2000 words later I’m actually going to talk about the tour and concert now!!!!

I had headed to South Korea a few days before hand so I could experience more than just the concert while I was in the country. I checked into my hotel at around 1pm, even though the check in was at 2pm.. Otl. I then ran off to go to Hallyu Star Street and Lotte World before the merch and ticket pick up started at 9pm. Another tip. Pick up your merch early and don’t leave it till late, seriously. I had been out all day so I was very tired and just wanted to stay in my hotel room watching Bondi Rescue but I eventually forced myself to get my shit together and go down to the hotel lobby and collect my stuff at around.. I would say 10pm? I went down there and collected my preordered merch and signed something, probably just to confirm that I was actually there I was too tired then to remember now. But while I was doing that they were handing me my preordered merch and all this extra stuff. It was very overwhelming oh my gosh. There was so much that they were giving me! I knew I would be getting a few little goods for being part of the package, but I wasn’t them to be handing me another poster (I had been stressing out quite a bit about if the poster I preordered would fit into my luggage before I left for Korea, so to be given a BIGGER poster scared me very much) and so many other goodies. Once I signed my life away and was smothered with SHINee goods, I was able to choose my tickets. Pretty much they had them all in these pretty little envelopes so we didn’t have any idea of the ticket we were getting and randomly drew the tickets out. Then I was told to go find my seat on the map that they had up on a white board with other information and then go back to my room. But of course, me being me, I skim read over the whiteboard and map because I had too many things in my arms and just wanted to go back up to my room and go through all the stuff I had, meaning that I pretty much had no idea where I was sitting the next day. Lol. But it was okay because I obviously found out the day after when I got to the concert.

So I got up to my room and went through my merch while I skyped with my best friend and realised I had to do something that would keep me up all night and also realised I really should have gone down stairs earlier. I had two sheets of paper asking me to write a letter to SHINee. It was probably around 11pm once I got off skype with my friend and I still hadn’t showered or actually settled myself down in the hotel room, nor had I started my letter to SHINee, so I kinda didn’t get all the sleep that I desperately needed that night. After doing the things I needed to do, I sat down and wrote my letter to SHINee, which was very hard for me to do.. Because I’ve got so many things I want to say to SHINee and I had to summarise it all into 2 pages at 11:30pm when I’m already dead tired. I did it though and ended up focusing on the main thing I wanted to tell them, even though they probably couldn’t understand it all because well.. English. I just hope Key’s English is as good as I think it is so that at least he can read it. Pretty much I just told them thank you for everything that they’ve done for me and how I just want them to be happy, because at the end of the day that is all I want for them, just for them to be happy. So after crying about 3 times over the fact that SHINee is actually going to see something that I wrote for them, I had finished my letter to SHINee at 1am and I fell asleep right away because I was that fucking tired.

I don’t usually translate S!N stuff on Tumblr, but my friend Giul (who you probably know if you are a S!N fan on Twitter?) pointed out this blog and recent situation to me and I really wanted to help however I could ;;; Basically, S!N is starting a new solo tour soon, but his ticket sales are very low and it’s understandably upsetting to him. He wrote about that issue in this blog post, as well as his thoughts about why he thinks this is happening. I’ve included a lot of notes after the translation itself that are relevant to the situation, so check them out if you’re interested! And please consider attending a concert of his if you’re able to do so! If Giul and I could help even one more person go to one of his concerts, we’d be really happy!!

Since I’ve been talking about this on Twitter, you’re probably already aware, but the amount of ticket applicants is lower than I expected, and I’m spending each day in full realization of my own insufficiency.

Some of the reasons are surely things like:

Since I’m going to many places, there’s no need for people to travel from far away (It’s spread out over every location)

I announced them all at the same time, so paying for them might be difficult and some people haven’t applied yet

Other reasons are perhaps:

I’ve changed over the last year (or so I believe) and people have drifted away from me

I have a scary image so it’s difficult to go to my concerts

I think those kind of problems with my personal character are a big factor as well, so I’m reflecting on that and trying some things out now to see how they go! (I don’t mean it in a depressing way, just in a positive way)

When the day of each concert arrives, everyone will be able to see it, and I don’t think it’s something to hide, so I’ll be showing my current ticket sales here. This is probably pretty uncool for an artist to do But I think it’d be even more uncool to hide it until the day comes and there’s no one in the audience.

For Scalat!on and Shinkoushin, my expectation wasn’t “I can probably sell out with how I am right now!” but rather “I want to go to those places so I’m gonna try it!” This time I was thinking like, “I’m not sure about some of these locations, but I think I’ll get around 50%~” I was too naive!! (extreme introspection)

First of all, I’m not what the world would call a “popular performer” But some people chose me from all the others out there to support, they offer me sacrifices of time and money, and even come to my concerts. I’m as grateful for them as I could possibly be! Thank you for everything! It might not be possible in a packed, stuffy venue But my own energy is going to be the same as always, so I’ll be working hard for everyone to be able to enjoy themselves!

Additionally, I really do want more of both the “people who have attended before” and “people who have newly taken an interest in me” to come to the concerts. It’s pretty difficult to hold concerts in general, and especially ones where you travel from region to region. In my last blog I stated my objective of “If this tour goes well then 2 years from now I want to tour all of Japan’s 47 districts!” With how this year is going, that’s honestly going to be difficult! How… How regrettable…!

But even if I knew this beforehand, of course there would still be places that I wouldn’t be able to go to So I’m glad I made that decision without knowing anything. Ignorance works wonders 😇 This year, I’ll be able to go see you! Next year I might not be able to. I’ll work hard so that doesn’t happen, but I’ll need help from you all as well.

People tell me, “You’re just trying to suck up to your audience,” and I guess from an objective perspective I kind of agree with that But that’s how I use my words. Or rather, it’s just that my Twitter is awful, and the words I use during livestreams are awful But I’ve always been able to properly convey my gratitude during face to face events!! I want to show people my smile and lively cheers that I use during Comiket and handshake events! For people who don’t know that side of me, it might look like I’ve changed suddenly and that I’m trying to suck up to people.

It’s true that my concerts might be scary That’s something that definitely makes people take a step back and look at them with cold eyes. But if you look at them while thinking, “I’ll join and have a cheery fun time so that I can use it as an outlet for all my regular stress~~~!!” I think that perhaps before you realize it, you’ll be covered in sweat, your voice will be hoarse, you’ll forget yourself, and you’ll end up going wild. It’s fun~~~~ Come on out, come on out.

If you’re worried about it, please do come!! Every one of you is a very valuable person!! It doesn’t matter if it’s sudden or if you have no one to go with!! I’ll keep dyeing you in the color called “me!!” Come on!!

If you’ve already decided to go, then involve the people around you too! If everyone brings 3 people, we can fill the venues!! (That’s a high hurdle)

To the many people who left me last year, come back!! I still need your support!! What the hell are you abandoning me for! I’m lonely, idiot!!

You also may need to use a proxy service to order them, since as far as I know, sometimes this site requires a Japanese address/phone number/card to order tickets through. as much as I don’t draw much I do know a thing or two about websites, so if anyone still follows this dead account and also likes to draw I’d like you to take some of this into account if you want to post your art somewhere Tumblr we’ll start off here since you’re probably used to it by now, but in terms of searching for, filtering and tagging artwork, tumblr has it down magnificently, say what you will about it’s userbase, I know I can but it’s an extremely well designed website for artists!..... Those of the non NSFW variety, and even then that’s not saying much you’re probably aware of the ban of 18+ content on the site, that mostly being 2d porn because gore, cussing and 3d porn is much better for the minds of the children that shouldn’t even be on the internet apparently. (also some people defended this? Why?) So unless you’re absolutely peachy clean, nothing that could offend a single soul in your art or you know a loophole or two you’d probably be fine, though ignoring the redacted statement your art’s probably a straight line Twitter ah yes twitte- twitter sucks for art lets be real. despite being one of the last bastions of “wild west internet” and even then that’s being generous, twitter wasn’t designed to show off creations or anything for more than 12 seconds wanna find a piece of art you just remembered from months ago on tumblr? go searching through tags, maybe the artist’s account and you’ll find it eventually wanna find a piece of art on twitter? See you in 30 years bro, just hope you remembered the artist’s name though all that aside twitter is surprisingly ok with 18+ content, I know since I’ve seen some shit that I will never forget considering that I had it saved on a hard drive somewhere, so if you’re ok with your art getting clout for like a minute and having to go through the alps to find art for something even a little specific have fun either that or you just put them up on twitter and then link put a link to- Pixiv I’m not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but pixiv, for me, is a mixed bag most of the time. Yes there are some absolutely fantastic art pieces on pixiv but it can go between from “decent” to “that art website” in seconds with no inbetween, oh, and we’ll cover that one quick. now, going through a bunch of bad apples to get to that juicy one wouldn’t be a problem since pixiv is a dedicated art website, and most of them have a “sort by most popular” option, which would be true.. but only if you pay for pixiv premium I mean you don’t have to PAY for it, there is a free trial but still having such an option locked behind a paywall is kinda scummy, I wouldn’t even be mad if they locked something like “see oldest” behind premium because that seems like the kind of thing someone more interested in the site would use. that aside pixiv being a japanese website is, of course, mostly in japanese. Yes, there is an extensive translation effort made by those in charge but it doesn’t seem like a place very friendly towards non japanese people, atleast in terms of language (cont. later)

Fresh flour mills cater to consumers seeking whole, traceable baking ingredients

VANCOUVER — In a small warehouse near the southern edge of Vancouver, a man scoops freshly milled flour into brown paper bags stamped “Flourist” that will soon ship out to customers hungry for fresh, additive-free baked goods.

Flourist and other fresh flour producers have seized on rising demand for whole, traceable baking ingredients, as well as a stronger connection between consumers and farmers.

Flourist’s cofounders wanted to make fresh flour — the type without any additives and that needs to be stored in a fridge — available to Canadians.

“Flour should be consumed fresh after milling and it just wasn’t something we had access to in grocery stores at all,” says cofounder Shira McDermott, lamenting the long list of ingredients that can be used in mass-produced flour to keep the product stable over time.

She recalls when her business partner first started gifting her chickpeas and other products from her stepfather’s farm in 2012.

“I was just completely blown away by the difference in quality,” she said of their freshness compared to what she says are overly processed grocery store options. They soon started Grain, recently rebranded as Flourist, and sold lentils, wheat berries and other grains in stores and online.

The duo purchased a custom-built stone mill from a family-owned company in Austria in 2014, but it wasn’t until the spring of 2017 that they managed to overcome regulatory hurdles and start fulfilling orders.

They now mill about a dozen varieties and ship to customers across North America, including dozens of restaurants, mostly in Vancouver.

In June, they’ll open an eponymous bakery in an effort to convert more consumers into carb lovers. The 260-square-metre (2,800-square-foot) space will house the mill and sell baked goods, coffee as well as freshly milled flour.

All types of consumers seem hungry for their additive-free flour, as well as loaves baked with it. Flourist’s buyers span “a wide stretch,” said McDermott, though its core demographic is probably mothers, foodies and hobby bakers.

“Sourdough bread baking is exploding,” she said, and the company plans to use the retail store, in part, to show people what a difference fresh flour makes to a loaf.

Recent health trends, like the shift toward gluten-free and anti-carbohydrate diets, pushed Canadians to eat less bread and turn to more premium varieties, according to a recent industry report from market-research firm IBISWorld.

There’s a market now — albeit a small one — for artisanal bread, said Dara Gallinger, co-founder and CEO of Brodflour. The mill and bakery opened in early 2019 in Toronto’s Liberty Village neighbourhood, and sells a selection of flour based on what it’s milling that day.

“People are starting to be less afraid and I think people are starting to demand more from their bread,” she said, which has also grown into a curiosity about fresh flour.

That wasn’t always the case.

Garret Jones first attempted to sell flour, freshly milled at home using his countertop contraction about the size of a tea kettle, at Vancouver farmers’ markets about five years ago. But passersby favoured the already baked loaves of bread that used the flour instead.

“There wasn’t a huge market for it,” said Jones, one half of the duo behind Vancouver-based Lakehouse Foods, a bread subscription service . “People weren’t too interested in it.”

Now, the general awareness around how food is made is growing, he said, and the demand for artisanal bread is likely to increase.

He’s hoping to open a bakery in Vancouver within the next year or so where customers can buy grains, much like they would coffee, and mill it themselves at countertop stations.

“It’s kind of reaching a tipping point where a lot of people are turning away from factory-produced bread and other baked goods for good reasons.”

These companies also provide an alternative buyer for farmers.

Will Robbins is one of three partners operating the family farm he grew up on about an hour west of Saskatoon. He was looking to shorten the supply chain for his crops, and develop closer relationships with bakeries and flour mills. He learned about Flourist and now sells his French lentils and red spring wheat to the company.

He wanted to make the shift because he thinks it’s important people understand where their food comes from. A cartoon sketch of his face graces the Flourist boxes containing his products.

It’s also a financial benefit to him.

“The more as a farm we can get out of the commodity markets and into direct relationships with people the more we sort of protect ourselves from the swings of the commodity market pricing,” he said.

The farm currently sells about five to 10 per cent of its crops outside commodity markets, he said, but he hopes to grow these direct relationships to 25 or 40 per cent in the near future.

“I’m rooting for those companies to do well and they are for me too… It’s gratifying on a personal level.”
