by far, the fungi and ruin machines are the best to possess, mostly because you can remain upright with those

(tho u did find some type of flying monkey that wasnt in game, but its like,, a real world and jungle now so that makes sense there'd be more complexity + stuff)

you do eventually think you should try and possess a person at this point... but ur kinda nervous 👉👈

its ur first time doin this okay nobody explained the basics to you youve been winging for a week now!

will your mind be replaced with theirs? it hasn't been so far with the creatures/bots

and as far as you can tell, they kinda just-

forget what happened or "wake up" after you possess them

(the tiger you were for a day looked confused as hell when it realized that there was a new pile of fruit next to it when it "woke up", it was your way of saying thank you to the animals of the jungle, u left them little piles of food you collected running around as them)

so THEORHETICALLY-

you should be good to go and possess a random poor eremite

... you figure you want to possess something human-like eventually even if you get a puppet body like wanderer/raiden so...

so it's been 2 weeks since you've been forcefully yanked into teyvat, and by the second week, you were trying to possess eremites

which! worked out!

mostly..!

you kinda convinced the entirety of two eremite camps that a certain part one of sumeru's forests is hella haunted bc ppl keep "blacking out" and doing things they don't remember doing, yknow... like possesssion LMAO

they kinda ran off to escape you but, hey!

experiment #2: people possession, success!!

now you were kinda convinced of this when you realized no matter the angle the animals and machines of sumeru didnt react to you getting super close to them (you dont have to touch something to posses it, just look at it really, but you wanted to test limits, so you walked up to sumpter beasts and fungi and ruin machines)

but no one can see you.

you don't have a "character" most of the time, you can float and glide around the ground like scaramouche lol

you cant touch stuff bc of this, you cant smell stuff (u saw the eremites campfires & couldnt smell the smoke until you were them)

you cant eat stuff w/o a body, so.. it makes sense that the eremites and passing merchants, cant see you when you float around, trying to reorient yourself after 2 weeks of experimenting

:( ur only a lil sad about it... but mostly not bc lol u got possession powers so trade off u guess

the first time you see a vision-bearer you literally scream

needless to say u stalk the forest ranger- ALL DAY.

Collei goes on patrol around the woods? you go on a patrol.

collei goes to visit other forest rangers? you "visit" other forest rangers at base (lol u def possess a guy who was asleep on a bench nearby & wake up to go talk to Collei "in-person", poor guy was so worried he sleep walked/talked so hard he went to see Tighnari an hour later lmao)

welp, you decide this is your life now, follow Collei everywhere, talk one-sided to Collei until you can possess a forest ranger w/o it being suspicious (dont wanna turn the poor rangers into the terrified eremites from a week or two ago...)

then, after you get the courage and erase the paranoia that tighnari can just... somehow hear your ghostly bullshit-

u do the same to Tighnari (then Cyno when he visits! no u didnt squeal, so what, nobody can hear you- )

Tighnari begins to get suspicious about 3 weeks into this routine.

he's been starting to collect and start a file on all the rangers or nearby villagers that've started randomly "blacking out/sleep walking" in the evenings usually

(u possess as close to nighttime as u can so it seems like sleepwalking)

So when Cyno comes back from a mission gone wrong,

having nearly been decapitated by a rogue flying ruin machine, only to black out and come to standing calmly 10 feet further than he remembered being 1 minute ago...

Tighnari's suspicions are confirmed, and he launches into researching this phenomenon.

his first thought is something like the aranara, but that doesn't account for the effect this thing is having on people

after all, what little forest spirit is strong enough to-

-control humans??

Tighnari begins to get the sense he's in over his head after he finds himself pushed into going into Sumeru City in order to collect more library books or ask around if the blackouts have spread to the city people

he answer is negative, on both accounts.

and he spends about one half of the day walking around, and the other reading up all he can on mythical creatures or ailments

Tighnari gives up for the day, and as he makes his way back to Ghandarvaville, he almost gets ambushed by some particularly nasty muggers

...and then he wakes up 20 feet away, his denro vision thrumming with power, full of worry and fondness for himself??, (just like Cyno said he felt happen to him..)

...Tighnari decides he needs reinforcements.

Operation: SWEETHEART!! - An Aphmau Dating Simulator

hello everyone!! so following my recent post i wanted to do i guess an official announcement for the project ive been working on....APHMAU DATING SIM!!! I just wanna talk about what it will be and stuff

So this is my second time ever making any sort of video game and its also a one man project so its NOT gonna be super good but...im trying my best LOL. The game will be taking place in the Mystreet universe! No specific time frame but generally around mystreet s1? Its kind of an AU where certain things are canon and certain things arent, also the characters act a little different since theyre all kind of following my personal interpretations of everyone. The game is kinda like 70% genuine 30% irony, so expect lots of humour

quick disclaimer: the game will include some mentions/depictions of death (out of humour, just silly game-overs and such) (no gore tho!!). things are still subject to change since im very VERY early in development so the final game will include a warning list just so everyone is aware of what theyre getting into! but there wont be anything super explicit besides swearing/light sexual humour

if i had to guess when this game will come out, i wanna say sometime around mid-late september? Again its a one-man project and i have other things going on so it may take a while but! progress is going pretty steady! so definitely pretty soon!

the dateable characters include: Aphmau, Aaron, Katelyn, Kawaii-chan, Lucinda, Laurence, Garroth, Travis, Zane, and Dante (pretty much all of the main characters)

this game is mainly just a passion project for me to learn some code and have an excuse to draw tons of aphmau fanart, so again, i apologize in advance if the game is kinda bad...just...let me live

First off- IM JUST SO GENERALLY HYPED FOR THE FULL STORY

Like I love romance and all— BUT THE ACTUAL PLOT??

It’s just so intriguing to me

I’m so excited to see what the full on plot is going to be—

Like take The Arcana and Last Legacy for example

Us, as MC, are a magician’s apprentice with years of lost memories, tasked with the responsibility of solving the dead count’s death. Doing so in the timeframe of a masquerade that the Devil arcana crashes, presenting his idea of merging realms—with him as ruler.

Then in Last Legacy

We’re a human from earth that gets transported to a recovering magical world that was only a game back home. Come to find out an old evil is slowly resurfacing—

LIKE BOTH ARE SO COOL

So what is the full story of Touchstarved gonna be? ?

I’m assuming it’s a longer game than the previously mentioned, so I just- GAHHHHH

I can’t wait

I also wonder how much of a center piece Touchstarved MC is gonna be

Like what is gonna be our role? Why are we important to the overall plot of the entire game?

We already know why we’re important to our own story—duh. UHH lemme articulate this-

Like MC’s story is clear in the demo, we’re cursed with hands that corrupts whoever we touch—and we’ve come to the dangerous city of Eridia to find a cure. But I can’t WAIT to find out how that ties in with everything else.

Like how does our curse connect us to the LIs? To Eridia? To everything?

How much of a role does MC really play?

Like in Arcana, we aren’t just the one given the job of solving a murder, but we’re also the one with powers that can rival the Devil’s. We’re the Fool Tarot card—the start of the journey.

And in Last Legacy we’re not just the human from earth brought into an unfamiliar world, but also the human that wields a relic that once belonged to the LI’s ‘dead’ friend/captain. (A relic that is later vital in saving the world)

So I’m just— I’m so excited to see why Touchstarved MC is connected to everything. What decisions we’ll be able to make, and why those decisions will lead to either a happy or horrific ending.

I already love these writers—and I love the characters, and I already love the glimpses we have of the start of the plot.

Like the vibe and plot of the story is what really got me INTO touchstarved. (That and the characters are uhhh rlly pretty 👉👈 AND THE ANIMATED INTRO WAS IMMACULATE)

I’m just so hyped to see what the story is—and how the routes are going to end. Will it truly be happy? Will we actually end it by saving whatever evil is corrupting the world? Or will it be a bittersweet end, where it’s only happy because MC and whatever LI they picked—survived and get to be together?

Like we’ll probably solve things- but I just wonder how bittersweet and still tragic the writers will make it—like what if to gain one character’s salvation, we have to doom another? I think I read somewhere where the Devs said our choice of LI will result in consequences for another— AND I THINK THATS JUST SO

Anyway—I’m just really excited for Touchstarved plot—can’t wait, mentally pained that it’s going to be like waiting for my sailor husband to return from sea. but I have faith it’ll be worth it- especially with how much love has already been put into it.

SO SO SO, now unto the romance hype

I’m vry excited for what the romance is gonna be like. Like, I’ve played a few of these games before. Mainly Arcana, Last Legacy, Mystic Messenger, etc.

And usually the romance starts pretty quick, (mainly due to these games being a bit shorter.)

But I wonder how fast or slow the romances are going to be in Touchstarved. Like, Mc is already pretty quickly attracted to the main cast(valid) but I wonder if some routes are going to be quicker than others?

And what are the CONFESSIONS going to be like?

I wonder if some routes will be slower or quicker than others?

Like my personal guesses for the quickest to slowest romance kinda goes like this: Leander, Ais, Kuras, Mhin, Vere

Okie Okie lemme explain my reasonings (I just like to ramble)

Leander feels like the type of character (if he’s not actually just using Mc) that clings, then obsesses over people he likes. And I can picture his romance starting pretty quick— I think the slower bit will be tied to actually getting him to be vulnerable—

Ais is already canon to get attached. So I can see his romance being a bit quicker.

It’s not like I think Kuras’ romance will be quick, but I do think it’ll be possibly quicker than Mhin’s. (Mainly for the scene where he keeps a hold on you when you trip. Especially if you pick ‘Can you step out?’ At the start.)

I am very curious how he’s gonna be in love though- it’s oddly hard for me to picture

Now Mhin—i can picture theirs being slower because they don’t just not want YOU to get hurt, but THEY don’t want to get hurt either.

And now Vere—I can see the physical parts of the romance being able to happen pretty quickly—but for Vere to actually like—develop sincere feelings? That’ll definitely take longer.

I can’t wait for it to happen tho

I also can’t wait for ✨feelings✨ to make drama. Like, what will the Senobium do when/if they find out Vere has like—genuinely fallen for someone 🧍🏻‍♀️ will they use us as leverage?

Will Kuras’ feelings for us make salvation harder to get?

nine aetharia. i got into their music in 2019 because of the good omens fandom and have stuck with their channel ever since. i know every song they have posted there since then, including deleted videos and changed lyrics. ive analyzed every song and know as much lore about them and the behind the scenes stuff as possible. honestly i should probably calm down bc this is almost getting stalkerish but im kind and respectful and too scared to talk to the creator so its. probably fine ahahaha

im painfully trying a rewatch of the show, i say painfully because my attention span watching a show vs a movie is KAPOOT! i can't stream 30 hours of a show but i can sit thru a 3 hr movie (if i haven't seen it before. Ill still have to get up and stretch sometime in the middle of it but ill be attentive nonetheless). LIKE... sitting thru a long movie holds more accountability to my mind i think. If i can't binge thru multiple episodes and end on a comfy, even number like episode 10, i can't bring myself to sit thru one without checking my phone 😭 BUT IT IS A GOOD SHOW! i just suck at watching shows in general, especially past the 1st season.. idek why.. it's like i get thru the 1st season in a happy binge breeze then BOOM! no more motivation... BUT WHAT I MEANT WITH THIS IS!!!!

This 1st post will mainly just kinda lightly touch on general knowledge from season 1 then expand in detail the more seasons i rewatch (with more ships too probably). This is mainly my fav ships i noticed now or back then

TO BE NOTED THO!! the wire isn't a really shippy show tbh, it's mainly about dynamics thru relationships contributing to story/effect on the story rather than romantic relationships. Every plot point has to have an eventual purpose for the story, every interaction, etc. It has like one will they won't they mainly for angst, and it's for Detective McNulty who has a general 'will he won't he' beat the Irish drinking gene or whatever lmao. If u wanna ship, u gotta really take the few nuggets the show might give u and REALLY turn them to gold. Cus they are gold in general, but it's up to you to make them really profit! IN CONCLUSION.. u gotta be. A little delusional. Hence our first 'ship' introduction..

this is a totally biased list so please excuse me. Stinkum n Bird are two of Avon's muscle in the game and they both get outta it pretty quick. Involuntarily, of course, because they're the typa freaks that love it. With these two, you need context clues n connections. Almost EVERY scene Stinkum is in, he's GOT TO bring up his boy Bird. Hell, it might just be every. This is mainly due to the writers knowing the actor of bird is a big shot cameo, so it'd be too expensive to have Bird in a lot of scenes, especially in a TV show budget. And they also knew Stinkum wasn't made to last long so why not just use him as a substitute introduction to Bird's character so we don't have to pay that much for personal appearance in prologue? Bird's supposed to be the 'unhinged' one in the crew, the Crazy Guy. Crude, rude, cruel, & ruthless. Don't have the budget to show it, cheaper to tell it instead. For cheap character intro to get us ready when Bird makes his short appearance eventually yea but WHAT ELSE? they're giving us an ELSE without rlly GIVING us an else! Stinkum, who's a bit of a dopey lil goon guy, might have been unknown to a certain shooting danger one night when BLAM! He turns around, not filled with lead, but with awe for the guy he just saw skin a man alive... save HIS skin by dealing with his unforeseen assailant. Stinkum sees a softer side to the craziest, cruelest guy in their group, and has his respect eternally earned. Does Bird ever return it?? We don't know.... Bird never mentions Stink. Which creates more fun for us cus we get bounce off that with whatever the hell we want. It always goes back to the source! IF YOU WANT.. i recommend looking up 'the wire stinkum' / 'the wire bird' and ull find their scenes that show more of their character. i mean its lisa, so am i gonna complain that much? the campfire conversations are a nice touch, but they're so sporadic and im not sure how to trigger them so i wasted a lot of time and resources trying to get the damn things to happen. as for the rest of the game tho, it really is pretty much exactly the same, just with an added layer of frustration to get bonus content thats like. fine i guess. the terry convo is obviously very charming and sweet but its kinda like i feel like the trailer/promo material kinda overpromised this feature lmfao

SPEAKING of overpromising... i was really hoping for more enemies lmfao.... area 3 has always felt extremely unbalanced to me and i was kinda hoping like. something would be done about that, but it wasnt, so whatever. i do feel like im the promo stuff it was stated there would be more battles but perhaps i just misunderstood?

anyways, its lisa! obviously i had fun playing it. i was just kind of hoping it would be like... harder.... or like maybe had an even harder mode than pain mode... outside of savescumming to bring back guys who died in battle and falling off a cliff once, i think i only game overed during battle once? i dont give brad joy and i usually play one-armed, tho i have beaten it armless and even then i still didnt struggle as much as i hoped i would... oh how i miss the highs of being killed by the mens hair club like 5 times before getting into the proper groove of things and the rush of finally defeating them... i guess this is just what happens when youve played a video game like 20 times.... you git gud as they say. sometimes i really appreciate the ability to stunlock (for ex, when fighting an enemy with permadeath moves lol) but sometimes being able to do that really detracts from the challenge ykwim?

2 me as like, one of the CHillest maelstrom, which, isnt saying a lot, but 2 me (maybe as an adhd person who experiences the same and mayyy be reflecting a bit teehee) hes someone whos experiencing some level of understimulation who gets over it w extremity.

I usually imagine ngl that its caused by being so overstimulated by an extreme enviroment for his whole life (i mean. night city yk?) that he needs constant punching to get through life. this makes for a vERY hollow feeling life for him but 2 me.

Royces chaos kinda enhances it for him 2 some kinda point of like. purpose? Almost? which is why he seems 2 have at least. like some mild genuine respect & dedication to him. yipee yk.

bc of that i kinda like to think that they r both. unwell sleepers if that makes sense? Dont sleep enough. Royce sleeps naturally very little and dum dum keeps up w him. We doo see dum dum usually just hanging about, lounging, I can totally imagine him taking mininaps constantly, eyes flickering from time to time, head nodding. Snapping 2 awakenness suddenly when Royce starts speaking again.

ive looked at some rotations of dum dums model and some of his bodymods are DEFINETLY more just aesthetic than functional.. at LEAST his upper lip rings. Those r trditional piercings. Probably also is chin metal n much of the stuff around his mouth. Again im not technically adept and Idk what the designers were going for, but I'd love to think that also the cored part around his neck, where they've just taken a part around his spine and replaced it w a dent of metal, is fully appearences, just bc its so extreme and interesting. He likes his bodymods he enjoys the process!!!! Perhaps he even enjoys the care that goes into them, bodymods that heavy must require a lot of care.

I dont. think he has tattoos in his final design right? og dumdum had the tats? Though i do love to think that he got tattoos when he was younger but most of them have just gone through being torn apart by his later bodymodifications. okay so first, ARE we actually dead???  like I made a joke about it to my friend like “they are such Gen Z, like oh were dead?  Cool AND THEN DIDN’T QUESTION ANYTHING ABOUT THAT” but then it kept going and we still haven't talked about it?  Until we finally met Beat (my boy, I’ll get to you)  and he firmly says he's alive.  That opens a whole host of questions for me

I’m pretty sure there's some legit dead players, but now that im thinking about it I can't remember now if they actually said they died, or if they've just been playing the game long term (Motoi, and one of the Variabeauties come to mind)

and then what does that mean if they’re taking living players???  is that even allowed???  

which brings me to my second point: WHER IS JOSH???  like im not expecting him to be a main character, but he is/was basically GOD, so is this him???  I don't think it is because we thought he learned a lesson since last time, and living players was never a thing when he was in charge.  So did he get taken out of commission?  is he the mysterious “you” that the hat character is talking about.  (I have a theory, ill get to it)

and Neku.  My son, my boy, my little spicy tuna roll.  How does this man come back into play now of all times.  first of all, what did he do to get back on the reapers radar after three years.  these ‘new’ games have been running for at least a year (we know Motoi has been playing for a year at least) and its been three years since the Big Game that took every one out, so how long have they been looking for him, how long has he been in hiding, and why can't they find him?  they wanted us players to track him down and fight him, which implies that he's still currently connected to the UG in a way that lets us interact with him, but if that's the case, shouldn't they be able to like, trace him or something (that might be a fanfic thing I've made canon in my head, about people having traceable auras or whatever).  because it sounded like Beat’s been looking for him too, and up until recently Beat was in the UG, so where's Neku?

and then Beat, poor guy.  Why is he looking for Neku anyway?  I mean, I guess if my friend is missing, id look too, but how long has Beat been looking for him?  How long has be been missing?  Why did he get dragged back into this mess too???  I’m digging the new fit tho, don't get me wrong, I liked Beat well enough before, but he looks a lot more Sk8ter Boi and less ‘basketball player’ now.  I do hope Rhyme and Shiki are doing okay without their guys tho, I wonder if we’ll hear anything about them at all?

Also what the fuck is Hype-Chan’s deal?  (I KNOW she has a name now, but she's been Hype-chan since 2012, she will be Hype-chan until I die). Like, something is going on with her and I can't wait to find out what.

Another question: I think its pretty obvious that the ruin bringers are getting special treatment.  the question is, why?  Whats the goal of keeping everybody in the UG like this indefinitely?  because that's what it looks like to me.  The whole point of the reapers game, as Kariya put it, is to find the best and brightest Shibuya has to offer, to give the people who can make Shibuya a better place a second chance at life.  Obviously the rules have changed since the last time we played, but what's the point of keeping everyone in Limbo like this?  Obviously Shiba’s having a good time (also, who made him the new conductor???  it couldn't have been Josh, no way) but what's even the point of having a game if you won't let anyone come back to life???

And where did all of these reapers even come from?  Uzuki told us that there are reapers all over the place, but did they wander here themselves, where they appointed by the higher ups?  Who's the producer now, since CAT is apparently on hiatus (I guess Sanae got in trouble after all?)

and then there's that whole vision Rindo had and keeps having about Shibuya like, blowing up or whatever.  Thats a whole thing I don't even have thoughts about yet.

theres a bigger story here im not seeing yet (at least I hope so, ill be disappointed if im wrong). 

Heres what I think.  My predictions, if you will.

I think that something happened to Joshua after the Big Game.  We know that Sanae got in trouble, so it would stand to reason that Josh did too.  I think he disappeared himself (like with Another Day) and left Shibuya a vacuum, with very few strays left to pick up the pieces (Uzuki, Kariya, and that one wall reaper who said he knew Neku from before are the ones I can think of).  I think that, seeing this open playing field, reapers from other districts were either moved in, or they took it themselves (they seem like the sort.  All the new reapers are kinda sleazy and I don't trust them). I think that Neku, for whatever reason, figured this out, or was told, or kept some kind of connection with the UG or with Josh (hello fanfic brain, I see you) - I honestly wouldn't put it past Kariya to know more than he’s telling us so far, and to have something to do with it.  I think Neku dug himself back into the UG somehow to look for Joshua, so that Joshua can fix things again - they said they wanted to make Neku a reaper, but I don't know how they pan on doing that because it never seemed like something you could force on someone, and also Beat was able to quit being one, so how were they planning on making him stay?  I think that the reapers are gonna try and pull something similar to what Kitaniji did with his red pins, but this time I think the goal is to... merge the RG and the UG - it would make sense what with the living player angle, I just don't know what the end goal is.

I ALSo think that Shokie is gonna be a party member at some point, just based on the box art.  Do I want her too?  not really, but I think she will be.

I didn't even get into WHATEVER Minamimoto has going on, I couldn't make heads or tails of it, other than I think he’s also looking for Joshua (I don't personally think he has any reason to look for Neku specifically, outside of to get to Josh). Meeting alot of people at her first day, she enjoy being with them, she met Ace who teases her for a min and later on Ace help her tour around the campus, Deuce was also there.

Y/N was very hyped on her new school, after first time seeing many intriguing things.

She got close with Ace and Deuce and Grim too.

Today. Her second day begins.

i’m gonna put my splat 3 thoughts under the cut because i have so many

overall:

i need to be able to play this game more right fucking now

i’m obsessed with everyone continuing to squidbag despite the visuals for it not being as satisfying

the plaza is SO fucking huge and i love it

i’m in love with the ghosts despite not being huge on them in the direct

the lobby, menus, everything is so much faster and it’s so subtle it feels so right

i really like the new visual effects for everything even if it’s gonna take me to adjust from 2- it all feels a lot more punchy and satisfying

the only thing i am not 100% comfortable on yet is holding A for lobby stuff because i am just not used to holding A while i do firing range stuff

i ended the fest at 690k clout so like i really won regardless of the results.  i didn’t try pro mode at all tho, i only did fest with friends today (#teamscissors)

i didn’t really use the new movement tech at all but that’s probably just because i’m so new to this.  i didn’t use charge hold in 2′s testfires either but it is now my default charger activity so like i think they’ll click with me in time

i think overall there aren’t any weapons that i think are truly like Bad or have shitty kits, i’m glad everything feels like it has options this time even if it gets walled by some of the more obnoxious combinations.  even things like ink mine at least feel more threatening than they did in 2

tri-color turf war splatfest thing is so much fun and so chaotic!!  i really like the way the map accommodates the other 2 spawns and i think it’s a fun balancing challenge, they did really good so far i think, each round felt so different

i hate that there’s only 1 tri-color map for the full rotation, and i will say i was kinda hurting for a third map in rotation at all times, but i can deal with 2 i guess.

weapons:

splatana is my beloved evil child!!  which is a total shock because tbh it was the thing i was least hype for.  its almost rhythmic-like vertical swipe is fun to learn and stringing together combos of directs to get a ton of quick kills is satisfying.  also its kit is INCREDIBLY well put together

stringer was wonky imo but i’ve seen a lot of people really like it.  i think i’m missing something about how it plays but maybe it’ll make more sense when the full game’s out and i’ve had some time to mess with it more

on the matter of the 2 above, they’re both a lot more inconsistent and not as immediate as the other mains, which is fine but it is a bit jarring, they remind me most of like.  the brellas from 2 in that they don’t quite click immediately with everyone in the same way a lot of the other weapons do.  high skill ceilings but also higher skill floors i guess

tacticooler is the devil and nzap has once again become my worst enemy.  we got spawncamped by a team of 4 nzaps within the first 2 hours.  this game never changes

while im on tacticooler, dapple dualies is still a thing!  it has beakon AND tacticooler!  im prepared to never get to see middle again.  they arent even in the demo and im scared

the other big cunt weapon i saw was basically every single person playing splat roller was out on a mission to jumpscare people and i hated it because its still as inconsistent hitbox-wise as it is in 2 so its just like a nightmare to encounter i think

also overall it feels like you build special and gain points INSANELY quickly in this game, i was often at 200p basically before i even left spawn plat and it was always a little shocking.  maybe it’s just me forgetting how this game works tho LMAO

honestly the weapon picks overall were really good, but i do wish they had picked one of every sub and special in the game, like i would’ve liked to see tenta missles and ink storm here but :/

OH i forgot to say: zipcaster is fucking weird and i don’t like it so far, crab tank is a bit slow for my taste and i think it’s a bit hit or miss, triple inkstrike is my best friend even if it’s only on weapons i dislike, reefslider feels a lot better to play than it looked in the direct, and inkjet is so weird now but i’m not arguing with it.  oh also booyah bomb is so visually satisfying now and ultra stamp is as fragile as ever, if not even more fragile than before, which kills me.

writing this at the very end -- i keep forgetting i wanted to talk about the other returning mains: hydra splatling is a force to be reckoned with now and it makes me so afraid of sloshing machine to follow in its tracks, .52 gal is just as much of a cunt as ever but at least it can’t really be that evil with such a passive kit, dynamo roller can be a total cunt -- as someone who played it and played against it being evil both ways, e-liter is so satisfying in this game and even if its kit leaves it vulnerable still -- it feels more prepared to handle things than its 2 counterpart, slosher feels different in a good way, tri slosher is still the absolute devil and i’m terrified of seeing what people do with it in the full game, dark tetra dualies are still my children and are pretty much entirely unchanged, and tenta brella feels beefier but it also feels exactly the same

maps:

overall i think these maps feel fucking HUGE and it’s strange because when you look at some of them, they’re rather straightforward and small, but they feel really large here and idk why (particularly speaking of mahi mahi resort and eeltail alley here)

museum d’alfonsino is so much fucking better and i love it now.  it losing its verticality and being made a lot better to navigate turned it from a clunkfest into something i actually enjoy exploring.  also the fact i can fully enter spawn on it is so funny to me like did they intend that...

mahi mahi resort is ...so different?  i don’t dislike it but, it doesn’t quite work the way i thought it would, or the way i want it to.  it reminds me of goby arena from 2 now, in the sense that it has like One way in and One way out and if those are blocked, fuck you i guess.  i’m interested to see how this one plays in ranked

i really love undertow spillway after fearing it might be a clunky mess from the previews.  mincemeat metalworks is also a lot of fun!

tbh overall all the new maps feel very different from splatoon 2 but they all feel really good to play on, there isn’t a single one of them that i dislike playing on atm

i’m mad we didn’t get to see the other 6 maps but i get why.  i wish we got to see makomart tho >:(

full game stuff / post-launch content wishes:

the fact it looks like there’s only gonna be two salmon run maps at launch is pathetic, like please at least bring back one from splat 2 and make it three like the game??  there also better be more later, and more frequently than splat 2′s too.  i hope the mystery rotations also return bc i love them in 2

the lack of new weapons at launch + the lack of variants actually makes this game feel a bit lesser than splat 2 at launch, but i think that’ll even as early as season 2 in december.  i hope we continue seeing a fuckton of new weapons for every class because on top of the two new classes having at most two weapons per class right now (which is way under the standard 5 per class that should be followed strictly tbh, give us more brushes and brellas) -- splat 2 had clash blaster, flingza roller, and goo tuber at launch + squeezer not long after, which this game lacks for now (but will get later)

the maps i really want to see back as of now are like: bluefin depot, moray towers, humpback pump track, snapper canal, and shellendorf institute.  the only map i don’t want to return is camp triggerfish but that’s because i fucking despise it

Thank you for the ask!! Oh man…its been a while since I’ve looked at my askbox and there is….so much in here yall get ready for a backlog of accidentally unanswered asks.

1) What was the current story release when you started playing?

Unofficially I started playing during the beta! My first character was a Norn Elementalist and I played it over at the house of a guy I really hated because my beta key didnt work but he had offered to let me use his if I came over. So my first play experience was on a wonky green TV screen sitting on the gnarliest couch you’ve ever seen while a bunch of guys tried to impress me with how many words per minute they could type. Classic.

Officially tho I started at launch! It was all so new and exciting and I was so fresh off all the leading preproduction hype. As an avid GW1 player I was so excited for continued lore and was also sinking deep into the nostalgia and missing my friends who used to play with me. It wasn’t dissimilar from when I started GW1. Where I started playing alone but was determined to rope other friends into playing with me. And this was before I had even really gotten much farther than character creation haha. Despite how I feel about the personal story now (which is not that its outright bad, just that its kinda boring) it was really fun back then! I crafted all my characters’ stories to fit into it somehow because I had this weird idea that I had to for some reason, but they’ve all changed drastically since then.

8) Do you have any items you keep in your characters’ inventory for purely sentimental reasons?

I cant think of anything specific I keep in anyones inventory for sentimental reasons but I do keep a very cluttered inventory. I’m what you might call an in-game hoarder. You never know when those random item drops might come in handy! This one even has flavor text! What do you mean its a junk item?!

I am guilty of playing the game sub-optimally for character driven reasons though. Like how I refuse to elite spec Matthias because None Of The Ranger Elite Specs Suit Him And I Was Really Hoping EoDs Would But It Still Does Not. 🤣

13) Do you have a favourite story episode (including expansion chapters)?

Tbh I’m really fond of a lot of the stuff they did with season 1 and Im really glad its playable again! I think it can be hit or miss for a lot of people but back then it was really impressive and immersive how many big, lasting changes they made to the world during the events of LW ssn 1. The battle for lions arch was big and dramatic and felt high-stakes. There were some awesome locale introduced and some really interesting narrative ideas. It wasnt all good, and a lot of it had its flaws, but it was still exciting to see things being altered and affected by the story on such a big scale.

ok so i was having a conniption last week about how canonically there's like at least 3 hetalia countries that are twitch streamers (like BRO ,,,sexie funy manboob -core for real) and now im working on an au / fanfic / ?? where a bunch of the young and/or social media capable characters make the worlds shittiest hype house

so far the setup is that hongkong made a joke tweet aimed at provoking iceland and liechtenstein (canonically a trio of friends and painfully underutilized imo), bcz the latter two are um. liech is like 12~14 she uses the internet exclusively for playing barbie dressup games. and ice is a young teen but is canonically struggling with modern tech which i think is so great

anyway all this is to say that larger influencers like the philippines were like Our Species needs better marketing let me hook you up and make this happen and then idk there's a hashtag trending and it gets the attention of the USA who is like waow just like the netflix show ill set u up in LA like a real hype house. who are u guys again (<- doesn't know his world geography )

and hong is like ok um fuck it we ball. ill double down im not a pussy. should we stream minecraft or something. and his bestie liech is like ok! whats minecraft

im still trying to figure out how to fit in femboy streamer poland (<- literally a thing he does in canon) since he's probably almost 30 and not a fun character to write for anyway but his presence feels necessary

so ya im still working through how this comes together but im excited to plan the fan response (if any) and then the swift downfall. the bit is that everyone they get involved has little to no technology know-how or otherwise their sense of pop culture is outdated. ideally they will end up giving their kind a worse image than before and get targetted for being cringe

most of my time so far has been spent researching like...... liechtenstein political history or cantonese slang or southeast asian historical relations. such is the danger of hetalia related wiki rabbit holes. thres a lot of ground im trying to cover and i want everything to be believable enough. ive read a lot of shitty heta fics in my time and i refuse to commit common mistakes

im also obsessed w using mostly minor characters while avoiding too many major ones. hetalia has so so so so so so many canonized characters and all of them are incredibly interesting. there's a lot of dynamics that can be mined for gold. and ppl like to focus on like ... 12? 12 of them. not in my house tho i wanna talk about some real obscure guys. america gets to be there tho bcz he's my number one best boy forever

im honestly kinda sad that among us died

it wasnt my favorite game of all time, and it wasnt even the best game ever made and had some serious game design flaws, but man. I miss the inherent chaoticness of a lobby and feeling like an ace detective when u catch an impostor and watching hours upon hours of youtube vids/twitch streams trying to "git gud".

among us blew up at the perfect time, when the pandemic kept people indoors and fall guys was dying due to the amount of hackers ruining it. Despite it being published 2 years prior at the time, it was able to blow up insanely quickly and save innersloth.

among us seemed like it was one top of the world. everywhere u looked there was among us. it was infectious. everything had an among us character plastered on top of it. vovid was still out there and airborne, but bro, among us was the deadlier virus (not actullay. this is a joke. /j haha dont kill me pls)

and then... it proceeded to not get updates for like. a year.

huh.

i know obviously game development takes a long time, and i dont wanna blame innersloth for being the downfall of among us, since they were clearly trying their best to adjust to all this new attention and popularity and they simply just got in over their heads but dude.

all that lack of meaningful content over the years outside of the big map updates really killed the hype. people simply got bored of it, and went onto other things. I did too. i got bored of playing the same maps over and over, and began to drift off into other stuff. i came back briefly to play around with the new roles update, and i had fun! especially with the shapeshifter role, that was my fav (i mean, they kinda just stole the idea from the roles mod, but hey, it was good there so it's good here).

but the problem was that it came out too late. most people didnt play anymore. most people grew used to only having 2 roles, and refused to activate any of the new roles in their lobby settings.

I just... didn't care about among us anymore to bother playing it.

btw heere;s my ranking of the maps:

Skeld (classic, never gets old, always fun, tho the doors are a bit annoying as crew)

Mira (delicious upside down Y shape my beloved, fun for both crew and imp, but i never could figure out the logs)

Polus (dont play it often since my brain associated it with like. tournament lobbies and sweaty among us competitors, but i love watching vids of others playing it)

Airship (fuck this guy. who thought it was a good idea tomake this the biggest one with the most complicated layout and the most rooms and that goddamn procedurally generated elec maze. any time some asshole with better internet connection than you takes the lil moving platform, you have to walk alllllllll the way around thru the records room, then through showers, through main hall, down the staircase at the end, thru engine room, up the hall in engine room, through the brig, [YES. I STILL REMEMBER THE ENTIRE LAYOUT. IT'S BURNED INTO MY MEMORY] then when youve FINALLY arrived at the other end and do ur task and are ready to go back... some asshole comes down from the meeting room ladder and takes it away from you. fuckighffjhfdjhdfjdfs)

I havent played the newest one so idk where to rank it. it looks pr cool tho. I also havent played the 5up map but it looks cool too.

idk what this whole rant was for. idk if it resonated w/ anyone, or if anyone shares the same feelings as me about this dumb lil astronaut game. but uh. im sad among us died since i think it had a lot of potential.

bruh. classes just started and im already overwhelmed. even tho i think this is gonna be an easier semester than last year i still think a couple classes r gonna give me hell.

my ww1 history class has a fuck ton of reading which is expected cuz like duh its a history class but i also had gotten so lucky with my history classes before being mostly lecture based instead of reading so itll be something to get used to again.

my other 2 history classes havent met yet so idk what to expect from them just yet but hopefully its manageable..

i met with my two studio classes today and im rlly excited for them. i think my painting class is gonna b a lot easier than my drawing class but thats fine. i almost wish it was the other way around because im more into painting but its fine im kinda excited to try new stuff and a class doesnt have to make me want to kill myself in order for me to create good work

but theres also something ab the culture of art school that feels like a competition of who can run themselves into the ground for the sake of their work more. whoever kills their mental health more for the sake of art wins

both of the art classes are more abstract based which will also be new and im both nervous and excited for that cuz thats not really a direction ive gone before. in drawing we did an exercise that was like a game of telephone where we took a drawing of ours we did before and then made a drawing based on that and then one based on that one and so on and so fourth,.. im weirdly happy with the results!

in about a week me n my friends r gonna have a galentines which im rlly hyped for, hopefully all goes to plan even tho with my track record that stuff usually doesnt but one can dream (ill definitely have a breakdown if people start canceling last min)(i already feel like i dont have friends and that will only fuel the fire) and like i obviously do have friends?? just not a friend group??? its only like 5 ppl im close to individually and then a bunch of like we hang out at parties friends so idk im in a weird spot rn...

anyway! i think thats all the life updates for now, ill try to be more frequent with posts cuz future me will thank me
