Ranking and explaining my rankings of Mike Flanagan’s shows and how they make me feel in honor of spooky season and just finishing Usher!! Why not!! Everyone else is doing it!! I’m also going to give it a gay score based on how gay they are (which also includes how big of a role gay characters played).
Disclaimer: Every one of these shows is well-made in one way or another and deserves to be watched based on whether someone else finds the premise interesting and not whether I liked the show. Too often I see “that show was bad to me therefore you shouldn’t watch it” and I disagree with that line of thinking.
1. The Haunting of Bly Manor-I can already hear people screaming “Hill House is better!” In some ways, yes! In some very important ways, however, I disagree. The biggest being Bly Manor emotionally resonated with me a lot more. The themes, the found family (as someone who is an only child), and of course, the lesbianism. Dani’s story of compulsory heterosexuality may be one of if not the best in media and her love story with Jamie ended up being one of the best media has to offer, too. And really using a horror story and turning it into a love story is kind of brilliant (and annoying for the people who were just there for the jumpscares I guess). Don’t get me wrong the show has flaws (why the FUCK do Peter and Rebecca have so much screentime? was that eight episode really the best placement?) but the stuff that lands, really really lands. I’m still thinking about Dani and Jamie 3 years later. Hannah’s episode was very well done. The kid actors little Amelie and Ben were phenomenal. Upon rewatch you notice most decisions and dialogue in the show were made with some purpose and it usually relates to something thematic. Some people may say it doesn’t really have one defining central thesis therefore making it messy, but to me the fact it has many themes actually makes it more fun to think about. Gay score: 100000/10
2. The Haunting of Hill House-A horror classic that got me into Flanagan! This is Flanagan’s best series as far as making you pee your pants. That hat man is just scary! The character work is nice. Those first 6 episodes are incredible. Perfect. The thing that brings it under Bly Manor for me is honestly the ending. It left something to be desired for me. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is, but it just did not conclude in such an emotionally resonant way as Bly Manor to me. Shout out to the Newton Bros because the music on this damn show (and Bly too but that’s basically Hill House music continued) is so so good. Also the character work is masterful because Shirley Crain is kind of a bitch but you do come to love her. In fact, there wasn’t a Crain I didn’t feel for. They’re deeply fucked up, sympathetic people. It’s a great show with some great thematic work but it just doesn’t speak to me quite as much as Bly, that’s it. I know that’s unpopular but it is what it is. A great good show nonetheless. Gay score: 8/10
3. The Fall of the House of Usher-This show is wild and honestly I couldn’t decide between ranking this one or Midnight Club third. I went with this one because the acting and technical stuff was so phenomenal. I’m not really into gore horror so this wasn’t like my thing on the surface but I do appreciate what a homage to Poe it is in the very limited knowledge of Poe’s work that I have. It was fun to see all the cast from previous shows back again especially T’nia. One of the downsides to this show is it doesn’t really make you feel a lot and so compared to the Haunting shows for me that makes it inferior for sure. But it’s a fun watch and honestly I need to rewatch the final episode because I had a hard time paying attention for that one. Gay score: really fucking queer/10
4. The Midnight Club-Ah Flanagan’s little dud. This one is really not very loved compared to the others, seems to be just about nobody’s favorite, however personally I liked it. I think people are a little unfair to it and while it may not be Flanagan’s best, I don’t think it’s awful. It doesn’t really tackle anything new when it comes to themes. There’s some death, grief, stages of acceptance, and cult stuff. I think the way it has these kids telling stories to deal with their reality was really brilliant in a way. There was one episode (six I think) that dealt with depression and suicide that made me sob and I thought was super well done. That one stuck with me.I think it would have benefited from a more likeable main character and also from the second season that was planned! Gay score: 6/10
5. Midnight Mass-To be honest, I probably could have gone without watching this show. It just didn’t really resonate with me and didn’t really entertain me save like the very last two episodes. It’s technically well-made and I appreciate what Flanagan was trying to do and convey with the danger of cults and religion. It was obviously a very personal project and was him working through his own experiences but it wasn’t for me. It had a few too many monologues and I don’t think monologues make an interesting character piece. However, it’s a critically acclaimed work so I recommend anyone who wants to check out Flanagan’s work still check it out! Especially if you like weird vampire stuff I guess. Also the acting especially from the priest was phenomenal. So there’s definitely pros to this show, but it didn’t add anything to my life for me! Gay score: 3/10 :/
Also, shout out to Mike because every single one of these shows is queer to one degree or another. He loves the gays! Ally! Bisexual wife probably helps too!

Who would be the IRL Huntlow...?
Ok, so I think I figured out the kind of couple Huntlow are, both as a couple and individually as Hunter and Willow……….. ……Have you guys ever watched Critical Role? It’s a Twitch series where ‘a bunch of nerdy ass voice actors sit around and play Dungeons and Dragons.’ Two of these dorky voice actors are Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey. For you Critical Role fans, you already know where this shit is going.
Tumblr media
Hunter is more or less Travis. He’s a large man with training (Hunter is a former soldier, Travis is big on exercise and… I don’t think body building is the right word, but he’s pretty damn muscular.) Despite their outward appearance, Travis is absurdly good at mental math, he’s really smart (even if he does a lot of dumb things.) Travis is also a big scaredy cat, he’s not good with jumpscares and there is video of him going through a haunted house and being all scared. Overall Travis and Hunter are extremely similar.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Willow is 100% Laura Bailey. Both are kind, caring, loving people………… Who will absolutely snap your spines if you piss them off hard enough. No magic, no powers. You’ll just get suplexed through a table. On top of that, Laura Bailey has the mentality of a 12-year-old boy. If she even hears the whiff of a dirty joke, she laughs and adds to it. She burps without so much as blinking. Hell, Laura has no problem casually threatening people or saying some surprisingly hardcore shit like it’s nothing. Sounds a lot like a certain Plant Witch, right? But it’s more than that. Travis and Laura are a couple who both fawn over each other, they’re silly together, they’re a mix of Morticia and Gomez and a pair of gremlins who just learned how to make mouth noises. They are two of the most chaotic people at the D&D table and have worked together on so many things. Like, seriously, this is from Gencon in 2019. That is Laura dressed up as a Gothic Lolita and Travis, this musclebound 6’3” man, falling head over heels for her in the background.
Tumblr media
Is this not Hunter and Willow IRL? Would Willow not collect a metric ton of shiny math rocks (Dice, it’s a thing) on a regular basis? Would Hunter not try to be anti-romance in a D&D game, only to be romanced by his girlfriend AT THE TABLE? Also, Travis is hella into werewolves, to a point where his current character is an old gnome man who turns into a salient werewolf. IS THAT NOT EXACTLY THE CHARACTER HUNTER WOULD PLAY IN D&D?! My point here is that, if you need any help understanding Hunter (well say Noceda for the sake of this conversation) and Willow Park as well as their relationship with each other…. Please, I beg you, go watch Critical Role, and vice versa if you are a Critter needing a good series to watch like Owl House. Travis and Laura are just real life Huntlow.

(i couldn't think of which member to center this around so you can pick however you wish)
how about one where the itzy girls are going into a haunted house and the reader is one of the workers there and ends up scaring them so badly that one of the members punch the reader making them bleed, and they are apologising endlessy then reader takes off their mask and the member is just flustered by their beauty and is speechless and you can decide how it ends
Tumblr media
pairing: ryujin x female!reader
summary: girls on halloween decided to go to haunted house, as they missed previous halloween. as they almost were at the end of that haunted house, they hoped that no actors here will scare them, but you had other plans. as you stood right there, your face was covered with the mask, you jumped out of corner, scaring all of the girls.
warnings: blood, nose bleeding, please do not read if sensitive/uncomfortable with such themes!
genre: fluff
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Chaeryeong’s death grip on Yeji’s hand, as younger buried her face, hiding behind her unnie. They were already so close to the end of this house, but it felt like eternity, while those haunted house’s actors scared them endlessly, like they wouldn’t let them escape that place without getting a heart attack.
Ryujin was leading her members through this place, as they said she was the bravest person among them. Although she thought it wouldn’t be scary at all, she twitched at every movement she could see in the corner of her eye. Lia with Yuna were screaming at everything they could see, even if it was just someone’s shadow.
As an actress in haunted house, you already knew every possible scenarios that could happen with you and visitor, could it be them falling down, screaming or they trying to punch you. Mentally, you were prepared for any scenario coming, not sure if you need to scare those girls who were coming to you. Deciding to jumpscare them, you put your mask on, positioning yourself.
Ryujin could see the door, probably leading them out of this place, and she sighed with relief. “See? We’re already at the—“ she couldn’t finish her sentence, as another actor jumpscared them, jumping out of nowhere. Her, too good, reaction lead Ryujin punching you in the face, unfortunately right in your nose. Instead of screaming, other girls yelled at her, already scolding her for her behaviour.
“Ryujin-ah!”
“No!”
Too late to react, you curled up in pain, covering your face. Ryujin gasped at her actions, immediately starting to apologise endlessly. “O-Oh my- I’m so sorry! I didn’t meant to… Are you ok? Oh my god…” you felt something warm going down on your lips, as you felt metallic taste in your mouth. Not responding to her questions, you silently stood up, removing the mask from your face.
Oh hell no… Ryujin tried to help haunted house actor, asking them questions, but they wouldn’t answer. Usually, they should be prepared for this kind of scenario, right? But it seems that she punched them too hard, probably causing them to bleed. “Are you ok? Damn, I’m so sorry, I…” she couldn’t finish the sentence, as she saw the actor removing the mask they wore.
All of the girls went silent, as they finally saw your face, stunningly beautiful, yet with bleeding nose from Ryujin’s punch. Her jaw dropped, not able to say anything, not even continuing apologising for the accident.
Yeji was the first one who regained from the shock, asking if you were alright. You nodded, but your nose still bleeding, and she hold your arm to lead you out of the place. Walking out, all of the girls asked you if you need any help, but you only waved it off, excusing yourself to get back to the work. “No, that’s totally ok! I understand you. I still need to stop bleeding, so I’m going back.” you said, already walking away from the group.
Yeji pinched Ryujin in the back, making her look away from you. “What? If I knew there was a beautiful girl behind the mask, I wouldn’t even punch her!” she said, quite loud, even you could hear it. You laughed at Ryujin’s remark, turning back, smiling at her while your nose still bleed. “Haha, thanks for the compliment!” you said, waving her, while you walked back in the room, leaving Ryujin flustered.

Y'like creepy stories n horror films? ...Ever heard of The Tar G-Man?
I’ve got mixed feelings about the horror genre...
On one hand there’s some BRILLIANT and absolutely AMAZING stories that can be told through the lens of human fear. Also, unsettling and upsetting media used to portray certain feelings or just make really cool shit happen where you get fascinated or even wonder “why am i so upset by this?” is so so sooo good. It took a lot of my life to figure out how to parse the horror genre because I used to be pretty adverse to gore and killing for no reason (still am, kinda), so i would avoid things all together. I watched the Grudge when I was 11 and then Yoko with her missing lower jaw showed up I cried and had to sleep in my dads bed that night because I was so scared! But somewhere down the line, after I was done being obsessed with how scared I was, instead I just started thinking “wait... isn’t she a regular person who was just hurt? What if she doesn’t want to get me? What if she’s just as scared as I am?” and I started to like, picture what it would be like if I went up to her and made friends with her. I would imagine us just sitting down and drawing pictures for each other, and all the fear went away! That’s how I started REALLY loving monsters and the horror genre, is when I could really sympathize with the monsters.
Now as for horror movies, ehhh. It’s really over-washed with... bullshit. Unreal “the schizophrenic psycho was the killer” ableism, the constant stream of “it was a satan worshiping demon summoning cult” boring nonsense, it got so fucking trite and over-done that the horror genre actually just pisses me off now. It’s so fuckin stupid. Like okay bro I get it you were raised Christian and don’t understand how any other religion works. Oh God don’t even get me started on the “making you wait for 20 minutes, watching an actor slowly nervously walk down a dark hallway with a candle so that you can have a two second jump scare” idiocy. Go fuck yourself I have ADHD and you didn’t even scare me you just bored me until I fell asleep.
I’m also kinda concerned about people actively marketing horror to kids. Five Nights at Freddys, Bendy and the Ink Machine, Slenderman, and I think a lot of Trevor Hendersons artwork is being made into games for kids now too. Henderson is an incredible artist, so I’m cheering him on to make that schmoney, but still. Something about it feels odd. See a part of me is like “we should let kids do what they want so long as its not hurting anyone” and it’s not, and also I kinda like that kids can now express fears or frustrations they might have in harmless and fun ways. Actually on second thought, letting kids have their own genre of horror doesn’t sound too bad. Just don’t let them condone murder or violence and we’re fine. I mostly just don’t want big companies marketing off the fear of children. A lot of these games and stories are also kinda boring to me, they’re not really my type of fun horror. I like psychohorror and not just “ooo imma getchee” horror.
So sliding aside the shit that’s very clearly “Here’s some overdone bullhankey we’re throwing at you so you can give us money”...
SOME HORROR THAT I GENUINELY LOVE, GAMES AND MOVIES: -Jordan Peele’s “Get Out”, absolutely brilliant thriller about racism with a satisfying ending. Poignant, realistic, haunting and terrifying. I need to watch Peele’s other things, I think he’d doing the candyman soon??? VERY excited for that. I also still need to see “Us”
-Playdead’s “INSIDE”- ABSOLUTELY FUCKING SHOWSTOPPING IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE WAY. EASY TO PLAY VIDEO GAME PUZZLE PLATFORMER. HAUNTING VISUALS. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SOUND DESIGN. Not even that scary imo just deeply unsettling and an absolute delight to play and watch. The story behind it is left vague for you to interpret but imo that’s a part of the charm! There’s a sense that you’re being hunted, but it’s not a single psycho killer, it’s a mass of guards and some kind of corporation and mermaids and all types of scary shit that’s outside your control. The ending is glorious and sad as it is beautiful.
-For a nice sheer shot of “oh god oh god oh fuck i’m going to die i’m so fucking scared someone please help” just play or watch PT. See, PT is one of those things that hits all the “what’s over done w the horror genre” but does it RIGHT. Distressingly realistic visuals. Madness from being in the same place all at one. Jumpscares done at tasteful times. Seriously upsetting visuals that make you want to throw up. It’s one of those horror games that is GENUINELY FUCKING SCARY. it leaves you “time to breathe” but gives you NO place to feel safe while breathing. You have no weapon, you’re locked in a house and you’re slowly being peeled apart bit by bit with guilt and resentment as you’re being pulled slowly down into hell as the ghost of what you did comes at you. It’s soooo good. There’s no killing unless you (the player) get killed.
...but to answer your question, no, I have not heard of the Tar G-man.

HILL HOUSE NOTES !!
Objectively speaking, I like the show as a weird crossover between Transparent and American Horror Story but there are always some cons :/ One thing I will say is that I find it hard to review horror bc I'm too busy swimming in cortisol to notice plot holes but I watched the scary scenes w subtitles and no audio and that will have to do!!!
Cons:
The diologue is occasionally awful.
Scratch that it's terrible and the more the show goes on the more it nears Grey's Anatomy levels of nauseating
Firstly, there are way too many name drops esp when there are only two characters in the room, sometimes even one sentence after another, it's exhausting.
i.e. 'Stay right here, honey. I'm going to talk to the police now sweetie, I'll be right back.' // 'You eat people, Steve. You are a parasite, Steve.'
Second of all, 'Don't do that ever again. Don't do that. Where were you? I thought the house thingy got you.' kids don't talk like this. I know irl children tend to imitate the adults around them but the sheer amount of stock cliches these child actors are required to say is incredible
And honestly overall there's too much talking period. There are dozens of scenes where a character monologues for almost five minutes!!!!
I loved mind doppelgänger Leigh's speech but really let's tally it up: we've got Mrs Dudley's monologue, Olivia monologues a few times, Theo's monologue, Luke 2 or three monologues, one from Shirley, Hugh is not much of a talker so thank god they were consistent. And of course a lot of these are important to the story and even close to entertaining (see also: Nell yelling at Steve) but it's way too much and anything actually significant is diluted in this deluge of info-dump-y speeches
Why god??? Why?
Like this is television not radio but I guess it's another case of Forced Diegesis when summarising w flashbacks would actually be way easier on my psyche but Tacky for these Kinematic Auteurs
I would've liked a more in depth exploration of Olivia and her childhood experiences of paranormal tragedy to give us a better context for her morally grey slip into an evil mother
Still somewhat peeved at how, bc of supernatural instinct, we can justify Theo and CPS taking a child away from her home. Obviously the show can't waste so much time on what's only supposed to be a quick detour into Theo's character and it works within the world of the show given that the guy did confess but portrayals of police, first responders, social workers, ad nauseum making snap descisions like that is Not Good for people's real world perception of their rights. Just sayin.
Maybe a scene where Steve and Hugh apologise for being garbage humans or something idk that would've been nice
This show has many layers and interpretations which could either skew towards clever ambiguity or clumsy indescision and while I'm leaning toward the former, I will say it does go a little all over the place for me.
Are the Crains' superpowers genetic, from their mother? Did it come from the house? Why is the house was so vindictive? What does it want? Or is it more symbolic of the emptiness inside the characters? Why is Olivia decidedly an over controlling mother but Nell is an innocent? Is really the only thing Steve had to do to save his marriage was reverse the vasectomy? Nell died of her own paradoxical haunting that began when she was six so was the cause ultimately a sadness within herself before the house of strictly the house's pull?
Like it's v unclear (probably deliberately) wether or not the story was Psychosis All Along or it was the house's vendetta or bc the Crains specifically are a supernatural mutant family
We never find out what Nell does for a living and I'm curious
Finally: it's really white sometimes. Like. Painfully white. Granted, the Crains come close to my favourite kind of white person, the quirky dysfunctional family of adult children scattered all over the country who only reunite at their dead sister's funeral. Still, the POC tally up to two love interests (one of which DIES), one cop, one naïve widow, and one poor daughter-less foster parent. One could argue only a middle class white family would stay in a haunted house for so long ://
Pros
The show juggles seven characters and two plots flawlessly. Each character is recognisable w a distinct personality after about only two episodes, the nonlinear structure as we alternate between the present day frame story and the main plot in flashbacks before ultimately converging when the family reunites at the house for the last time is not only clear but parses its information in way that's not only not confusing but strengthens the tension and dread. Even while they show the flashbacks' ending (w Olivia and later Nell's death) as well as the epilogue, the build up still feels entirely justified. This is peak plotting right there.
Furthermore, Nell's ghost still manages to be in the spotlight with some jumpscares even after we know who she is
My soul pretty much left my body when Nell's ghost attempts to bond w her sisters via screaming as they argue in the car
A quintessential microcosm of the show's representation of time and memory is Nell's final speech: whimsically disjointed at first, poignant and clear by the end
It's a horror show that is completely dedicated to its characters (and I'm sure some of you already know my love of dysfunctional families) and centres around human themes of connection, mourning, and trauma and the necessity of vulnerability and letting go in order to live a full life. That's very rare in horror where we usually get gratuitous gore with a small spattering of sentimental scenes to further the gore.
Olivia's Forever House served as an excellent symbol for her need to control, the house's monicker implying her fear of change.
An incomplete but not bad portrayal of trauma, a decent addition to the topical and ever-expanding mental illness discourse
Also ft. meta commentary on writers
In the beginning, Olivia really was portrayed as a concerned mother who was always trying to be considerate of her children's emotional well-being despite her occasional snaps. One has to wonder wether her slip into an irrational need to control might reflect society's paradoxically oppressive expectations of motherhood: to have absolute control of your children while also being a benevolent saviour to them 24/7. I mean in all fairness to Olivia, she was working and raising 5 kids. I'd lose my marbles too.
Or maybe I'm giving the creators too much credit and they were only angling for an Other Mother thing. I like this Foucaultian nihilism though so we're gonna go w that.
The show's acknowledgment of Useless Dad and Entitled Eldest Son syndrome.
Spat my tea when doppelgänger Leigh ripped Steve a new one, and since she's a representation of his psyche maybe that means that Steve himself has gained some self awareness. (He should still... apologise to his family....)
I mean they were really spot-on with how birth order family drama goes.
Human portrayal of a lesbian as an adult and a child! As tumblr user Lesbeet said, this is very rare and deftly done!
Theo doing literally anything
Shirl is p adorable
Theo and Shirl: the comedy duo we absolutely need in our lives
Arthur and Nell's romance is joining Up's prologue in the golden vault of world's greatest ten minute love montages. (Both of which ended in tragédie. ☹️)
Shirl's AU dream sequence, which unlike the others, presents us with an extramarital faux pas that we were not previously aware of, manages to seem totally appropriate for her character
The set and costume design are perfect for the primordial fear of the unknown aesthetic the show was going for. Fairy flappers! Gothic stairwells! Punk rock leather gloves! A McMansion that doubles as a funeral home! Motels! A curvilinear LA mansion! The absolutely insane brutalist million dollar rehab centre! Oh boy!!!
Accurate mortician portrayal: they really do gotta wire the corpses' mouths shut. Those damn chatty dead people.
Tumblr media
Tldr:
Diologue is lengthy and cheesy while the characters are Too White. The rare portrayals of POC and how social services work were lacklustre. 👎
The show's incredible ambition and dedication to its characters and themes of trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, and the consequences of coping via trying to control your life is amazing. Theo, especially, is amazing. It's a very goth show with clinically depressed ghosts.👍

ndrv3 boys with their S/O on Halloween?
this was really fun to write!! i hope you enjoy! :D HAPPY HALLOWEEN FOLKS! *in the beat of the cha-cha slide* it’s time to get spooky
Shuichi Saihara
doesn’t really want to go out
would much rather just stay in and do whatever
that’s how you ended up watching movies
you didn’t wanna pressure him if he wasn’t going to enjoy it anyway
you popped some popcorn and grabbed the bowl of candy you were going to pass out
sleepy hollow ended up being a movie of choice
nothin like a good ol tim burton film
you just kinda sit in each other’s company
you end up asleep on his shoulder with 20 minutes left in the movie
does he wake you? does he turn it off?
he ends up finishing the movie himself before waking you up gently and suggesting you two move from the couch
Kiibo
doesn’t dress up
i mean does he really need to?
you’re out trick or treating, it’s a fun time
until someone compliments his costume
stress
“W-what do you mean, costume?”
the person just kinda stares and blinks
you take his hand and guide him off the porch
“Was that person being robophobic?!”
he’s a bit upset now
you have to explain to him that they meant no harm, it was a compliment if anything
he’s unsure but takes your word for it
you head home after that
Kaito Momota
oh god, help him
you probably stay in passing out candy
you will not be able to drag him to Halloween attractions under any circumstances
he doesn’t care if it’s fake, he’s terrified
of course he won’t outright say that, he’ll make up an excuse
but you know
you still dress up though!!
Starlord and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy? Yes please.
he has a lot of fun with it, gets really in character when kids come to the door
you can’t help but smile
you may just be able to get him to watch a scary movie or two later on in the evening
he just has no excuse not to
but he gets to hold you so, hey, a win for him
you end up holding each other, you’re both scared shitless
Rantaro Amami
you’d been the one to suggest going to a haunted hotel attraction
but he was totally down
and you couldn’t tell but also totally excited
you held his hand and stayed really close to him
he Protec
he was doing pretty well, he’d jump at a few things
he’s the kind of guy to start conversations with the actors
“Oh, hey, how’s it going?” “Nice weather, huh?”
gives a few “Man, do you want a mint?”
even if you run ahead because something scared you from behind, he keeps his pace
he laughs as they chase after you that is why you don’t run folks
he does catch up and “saves you”
you near the end and you smell the gasoline, putting two and two together
but he doesn’t
you enter a room with stobe lights and fake meat hanging from the ceiling
then, you hear it, the revving of a chainsaw
suddenly, Rantaro is out of there
he actually books it, they chase him, it’s your turn to laugh
Kokichi Ouma
oh you know y’all are going trick or treating
pulling some pranks later on in the night too
but are you surprised? not in the slightest
gets mistaken for a little kid, but that has its benefits
basically he goes up with a large group of younger kids first and then again with you
he’s pleased with the biggest smile on his face
it’s actually really pure he’d have so much fun
and then, the pranks begin
“Do we really have to?”
“Nishishishi~ Well of course, S/O, what’s the point of trick or treating without any tricks?”
he has a point
don’t worry, they’re harmless and nonviolent pranks
still he picked another neighborhood so you wouldn’t have angry neighbors
harmless or not, toilet paper is a pain in the ass to clean up
you’re on the third house when suddenly their lights turn on
you drop everything, minus the candy obviously, and BOLT
Korekiyo Shinguji
he wants to go to a haunted house
no, not an attraction, an actual haunted house
you convince him that an attraction will suffice
he reluctantly agrees
is convinced it won’t be as enjoyable
surprisingly calm when people are jumping out at you?? he even laughs???
he likes you jumping and clinging onto him the entire time though, he finds it utterly adorable
afterwards when you ask him how he wasn’t scared whatsoever he just says “Oh, S/O, real encounters are much more eccentric than that.”
that explains it
he didn’t expect to enjoy it so much, but he surprisingly did??
probably because you were so close to him the entire time
now every year he sets to find the scariest attractions possible, it’s the closest he can get to the real thing with you
he’ll still try to get you to participate in some sort of ritual though
Gonta Gokuhara
“Haa-low-eeeen?”
after you explained, he was excited and all for it
he loved the idea of dressing up
you help him figure out a costume
“What is the best costume for gentleman?”
LIGHTBULB!
a knight and you’re a princess/prince
he’s really excited now
chivalry is not dead my friends
he gets really into the character of a knight
it gets you both extra candy from some people because he’s acting so cute towards you
he has a really memorable experience!!
looks forward to it every year after
Ryoma Hoshi
you two just stay in watching films
it’s a very chill, laidback night for the two of you
the house was decorated solely by your request
not very jumpy so jumpscares don’t get him
he’ll gladly hold you if they get you though
you make a point to try and scare him yourself
spoiler: it doesn’t work
he just glances at you, blinks, looks back to the tv
you tried, A+ for effort
enjoys the time spent with you
you bring him joy
