Circus of Strange

There's an odd little place, it's just out of town, up a dirt road. During the day it is silent, desolate and rotted. Circus tents lie empty, edges of fabric held on by bare threads. Props faded and half eaten by bugs. The remains of poor people and animals sit in the freakshow cages, scattered by the few scavengers that could reach.

No one knows what happened here.

But it's said that if you visit, late at night, as the clock ticks past midnight, the old lights flicker to life. Rusty old instruments play beautiful, whimsical tunes. Strange beasts roar in the cages, stepping on their own bones. A bearish man sits in a stall and offers you a taste of the best food you've ever smelled. A pretty man with pink hair offers you a palm reading. A contortionist with a spidery costume performs on a small stage, across the way from a supposedly half-lion man who breathes fire into the air.

The big top sits in the center, but no one is allowed in yet. They're preparing for the big show!

At 2am, a clown who's too tall is said to step out, to begin leading people in. It's said the show is the best in the world, with acts impossible and amazing. There are beasts fast as lightning that dart about with beautiful agility. There's an act of acrobats who seem like hundreds all at once, acting all in perfect sync.

It's said it's so wonderful a show...

That it's to die for.

i crave a fanfiction whereghostly/demonic akashi is haunting/stalking furihata. lurking in shadows, constantly in the corner of the eye such that furi think he is there but when he looks closer a second time- he isn’t but a part of his brain thinks he saw a shift of the light and shadows as he turned as if a figure melted into the side wall. I want furi to see him in reflective surfaces, the window, the mirror, i want him to see a faint foggy outline in the dawn light, i want him to see this figure on top of his apartment building- arms outstretched, welcoming him in for an embrace only to dissipate as the beginning sunrays touch him. i want furi to be tormented by dreams of darkness and a hollow laugh. of a flickering light and a cheshire grin. i want him to hear whispers in his mind. i want the shadows to rumble with hunger. i want furi to be trapped in a bathroom, his mind falling apart, and finding comfort in the shadow in his mirror- his tormentor- his salvation- his demise- his ascension. i want him to embrace the darkness. to be swallowed by it. to become it

I'm usually the type of writer that likes to name my project before I write, but when you keep rewriting and restarting the same story every few years your title will inevitably be taken by some other book or movie just famous enough that you wouldn't want to use it.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, all of my titles keep getting taken by weird religious movies (and one super hero movie), which I suppose teaches me that I need to think a little more outside the bun.

#I need to figure out a unique but memorable and meaningful phrase #Goodness every time I try to start this story so many things change around and new details are added #A real ship of Theseus situation #Some form of it has been kicked around since 2000 #Main character changed 3 times #But I think it's ready now #I've said that before but at least this time I've ironed out a lot of the bumps #Somebody wasn't very likable and the answer was to make him a baby #Sorry Adole but you were too old to be that naive #And a whole dungeon crawl type section needed to be chopped out

While the Phantom Thieves have their signature weapons, I want Joker, Akechi, and Joker’s father (who will be revealed soon) to have their own 4-gun set

Unlike Jeanne, I want Akechi to have two gun sets, each one relating to one of his Personas

There’s Sherwood, with the individual names Much, Scarlet, Tuck, and Little John

And then there’s Ragnarok, which contains Hel, Jormungandr, Fenrir, and Sleipnir

I’m not sure about Joker though, should I give him Scarborough Fair, etc. or his own unique guns?

If the latter, what do I call them?

I also want each Phantom Thief to have their own Beast Within form, but what?

Some are obvious, like Yusuke is a fox. Maybe Haru could be a dog, specifically a poodle because of her curls? But the others are tricky.

I thought of making Joker a panther like Bayo, but Ann is literally called Panther. So I don’t know about that one

Also Ryuji is a monkey because I said so (and his second-tier persona)

Each thief will also get their chance to summon their Persona during a climax. Who it is will depend on the scenario

I realize this nerfs Joker a bit, but I want everyone to get their chance in the spotlight, so I think it balances out

But here’s some stuff I have trouble answering

How should a demon be summoned? Should it be like in Bayonetta, through the user’s hair, or like in Persona, taking off the mask and calling the name?

Will the Phantom Thieves’ clothes be made out of their hair or not?

Who would be good substitutes for demons like Gomorrah and Labolas?

What should I call little Akira’s stuffed friend? Should I stick with Cheshire, or call it Violet?

I've spent at least half to 75% of my waking hours the past 5 days either working on my outline, working on chapter 4, or entirely revamping posted chapters of ASE (still got one left to go, guess what I'm doing tomorrow). And the other half on college and work. I am slowly losing my sanity.
