Shizuroth, part two?

In a restroom near the infirmary, Shen Qingqiu takes a long look at himself, at his life, at his situation.

The coat does not close. It's literally too small. Who would've thought, the big bad badass boss of Final Fantasy VII had his tits out, because his clothes were just too small! What, did he out grow them?

Get a new coat!

Giving up on the clothes, Shen Qingqiu - or should he think of himself as Sephiroth now? - runs his only slightly shaking hands over and down his hair. At least that's sort of familiar. Sephiroth's hair is a bit longer than Shen Qingqiu's, but at least he's used to handling long hair like it. The colour is new, and he can tell it hasn't been oiled like his used to be in PIDW, but instead it has that nostalgic quality of being conditioned. And that's, honestly, something to look forward to! Shampoo and conditioner and, oh, gods, showers! Not only that, but there's electricity, and there are electrical appliances - so, following that logic, Sephiroth might even have a hairdryer!

If only it didn't come with the burden of becoming yet another doomed-to-die villain. At least it's not a scum villain this time - no, just the crazy one with mommy issues who tries to destroy the planet! Fun!

Curiously gathering his hair into a loose version of Shen Qingqiu's usual updo, he turns his face this way and that. Damn, but Sephiroth is pretty. Glowing green eyes and hair like spun silver, and body of Adonis. Yet another beautiful man with a terrible past and worse future.

Maybe Shen Yuan's soul is cursed in some way.

Dropping the hair and letting it cascade back down over the pauldrons capping his already ridiculously broad shoulders, he leans over the restroom sink and tries to remember what even happened in FFVII.

It's been well over two decades since he played it! It or Crisis Core - or whatever it was, the PSP sequel-prequel thing with Zack? Sephiroth had made a bunch of cameos in other games too, and then there was the movie - so who knows which version he's in! Which timeline, which moment in which timeline? Maybe he's in Kingdom Hearts! He could be! For all he knows, he might be in some official novel version, and he'd never read any of those, if they even exist!

Safe to say it's before the main game, though, what with him being alive and, judging by things… in Shinra. Figure they probably wouldn't be doing medical stuff for him if he'd already stabbed the president to death. And that happened years after he died, so, uh… it's probably somewhere in the Crisis Core era. Or any number of the mobile games that took place in between, though he'd never really looked into those. So. Uh…

After having his life revolve around PIDW and cultivation and Luo Binghe, it's weird, trying to remember an ancient PS1 game. Though he'd played it emulated on the computer. Thankfully, he's not in that version, graphics-wise, that would've been painful. And speaking of pain…

If nothing else, he's well out of Luo Binghe's reach now, far better than he would've been in just the Sun and Moon Dew Flower body. He paid back his debts best he could when he self-destructed, and now he's off to a whole different world, genre, even the media is different! No being torn limb from limb here! Just a lot of stab wounds. And, well, maybe some medical torture. And, uh, several short-term resurrections followed by more stabbing to death… while slowly losing his mind… and growing extra limbs… uh.

Still, definitely an upgrade from years upon years as a tortured human stick before being killed by his favourite character! And he doesn't even have a System here! No OOC lock! No B-points or System punishments!

He lights incense in his heart for Airplane-bro, all the while nodding to himself in congratulations for this positive turn of events. Airplane would've felt similarly in his boots, surely. His ridiculous, knee-high, edgelord boots.

Feeling a little better, he rummages through Sephiroth's pockets and comes away with a treasure trove of props. Keys, key cards, glowing marbles of Magic, which he knows are Materia, but which to his lingering Shen Qingqiu sensibilities look a lot like first grade spirit stones… and best of all…

He brings it out slowly and holds it up reverently. It's the most special, most magical thing he's seen in years! It's so beautiful, he could weep!

Sephiroth, it so happens, has a smartphone.

It's actually quite dark.

When she wakes up 2000 years have gone by, and humanity went extinct. While she was in that coma a disaster destroyed the human world. It collided with the world of the Gods. At first the combination of worlds brought forth a surge of prosperity. The Godly races are stronger than ever before. Breeding with humans made each race exponentially stronger....but that was the problem. The Gods continuously got stronger with each generation, but the human race remained weak. Eventually they died out. Billions of them, because they were seen as a means to get stronger...not as an independent race. The Gods started to fight over them, and the humans were too weak to do anything when they were caught in the crossfire.

Now, the Gods look mostly human. Their ancestors married many humans before the race died out.

Mashiro is literally the only human left, and she's only alive because she's an international secret.

Here's a quick summary of her four husbands.

Noel his wolf characteristics. He is descended from the Gods of War. He feels like he's not strong enough. War is brewing, and there are no more humans to breed with. He feels inadequate in the face of this threat. His nation protected Mashiro's sleeping body for a while. He claims he will never love her. He wants to ensure she lives in comfort, but he sees her as a way to keep his nation strong.

(He has a crush on her but he can't admit it)

Alfred is a prince with angel wings. He's actually the strongest member of his race. His own father hates him, because he's jealous. The son surpassed the father too fast. Alfred is very lonely, because powerful children are rare now. He wasn't allowed to play or have fun as a kid. He had to use his healing powers to help his people, and Mashiro. Mashiro was healed and stabilized by him. Without him she would have stayed asleep. He fell madly in love with her. He feels connected to her, because they are both tools being manipulated by international politics. He's a little crazy, but he wants Mashiro to love him.

Fei Shen is the strongest God present. He did not feel attracted to Mashiro when she was asleep. He is the last pure blood God, but he feels no kinship with her because she's the last of her race too. He became one of her husband's because it's only natural for the strongest to have the best of everything. He falls madly in love with Mashiro AFTER she wakes up. He's not sweet like Alfred. He's always ready to dump harsh facts on Mashiro, but he also wants her to rely on him. He also takes her virginity. She offers it to him in exchange for many lives. Fei Shen isn't interested in protecting the world. Only the castle. She has to offer herself up to convince him to save regular people.

Oma the demon doesn't really feel like a "husband". He has many wives and children at home. He's with Mashiro because his race has suffered too many devastating losses. They need a new leader, with new powers. Oma is a sympathetic character, and he tries to be patient with Mashiro, but he's really here as a plot device. Oma has seen the worst of war. He's not overly special. He's older, and he can't just do whatever he pleases like Fei. He will never place Mashiro above the needs of his people.

Mashiro was asleep, but she was also being preserved by magic. It took four whole nations, an unfathomable amount of money, Alfred, and Fei's influence to keep her alive. Generations of gods have been protecting her. It's pretty freaky. Alfred, Noel, and Oma all knew Mashiro when they were children. Yes, they knew about the bride thing the whole time. Fei Shen was brought in later as a wild card, to add an extra layer of protection.

It's blunt. It's horrible, but her awakening is because of their hard work and they expect......some kids in exchange.

I do think it's nice that Fei doesn't beat around the bush. Fei was recruited as a ruthless final measure. Mashiro has a very distinct scent and appearance. Other males will try to kidnap her. She is the most desirable wife worldwide. Only the threat of the strongest living God around can keep them at bay.

Mashiro develops feelings for Noel first. I totally get it. It's easy to read how he really feels if you pay attention. He's in denial. He doesn't like sharing, but he understands that protecting Mashiro is not a one man job. He's also...nice? Mashiro actually enjoys hanging out with him, and he doesn’t constantly whine about babies. He is pretty manipulative though. His devotion to his nation pushes him to do shady things behind the scenes, but he's always kind when Mashiro needs him.

She wanted to give him her virginity, but then war broke out.

Alfred is the most stereotypical yandere in the cast, but he is quickly overshadowed by Fei. He's also kind of a purity freak. He wants to give his whole virginity to Mashiro. He hasn't even touched himself before. The other men actually chasten him and tell him to sleep with some other women, because he could hurt Mashiro. Alfred is blinded by love for a while, but he snaps out of it before he does anything unforgivable.

After the virginity deal we get another surprise. Fei wasn't exclusively protecting the castle just because he's an asshole. He's the strongest, but that doesn’t mean he can fix everything with a snap of his fingers. Mashiro orders him to protect a wave of villages in exchange for a night with her, and he returns covered in wounds. He is also, somewhat understandably, upset when she isn't as excited as him. Even though he completed her insane order to fend off multiple armies alone.

Mashiro feels a little guilty. She didn’t know she was asking for so much.

Before they sleep together they have a nice moment. Fei also takes her away for a couple days, because he wants to show her his palace. He's a capable and powerful yandere, but I feel like most of the story will focus on her first crush. Noel.

I quite like how initially we draw some conclusions about mxtx that are not in fact true at all?

Xie lian in the start to me give the blush maid vibes. Like he was naive and clueless to hua Cheng intentions. But the more the book went on, the more I realized he knew exactly who San Lang was and what he was doing. He was not naive, just mostly keep this observations to himself, until it was necessary to be talked about.

Wei wuxian first gives the impression that he descends to pure evil, he is a genius that is pretending to be a crazy homosexual, but in fact he is hero that is also a crazy homosexual. It is pretty common in fact for the dark bl protagonist in BL novels. I mean, if mdzs is your first maybe you already expect wxx to be "good" but the evil protagonist is no unusual.

Now, Shen Qingqiu I have no idea what I expect of him first but it was definitely not that. Such an unreliable narrator.

The more I think about it, the cultivation world and academia are similar. High drop out rates? Reverence towards the people who 'make it to the end'? Meritocracy but not really? Age old 'talent' vs 'hard work' vs 'privilege'? Possibly just side effects of being learning institutions but yeah. Anyway, headcanons for peak lords as professors.

SQQ (SY) The chill professor everyone loves. Is often absent for months at a time doing field studies but comes back with loads of cool stories. Has a tendency to veer off course and everyone's grades may suffer because of how little time is actually spent on examinable material, but at least you'll enjoy yourself. He says he's only there for the fun and doesn't do much research, but you've spied a number of very big names going to him for advice. If you manage to make him drunk, his personality does a 180 and he complains extensively about everything, including his latest webnovel obsession.

og!SQQ (SJ) The salty professor everyone hates. Obsessed with rankings and citation counts, has a constant rivalry with LQG, and does the absolute minimum when it comes to undergrad teaching because he thinks it's a waste of time. He's convinced there's an agenda against him because he didn't get funding for the third time in a row and takes it out on the students. But damn does he know what he's talking about, and you've heard he's actually a genius, albeit one with complicated background. The few phd students he has are utterly enamored with him.

SQH Everyone forgets that he's not a student, including himself. When he teaches, it feels like he's giving a presentation and waiting for feedback. He answers questions with questions. Nobody knows what research he's doing, including the other members of department. Both Shens and LQG alike think he's a waste of space. But he seems to have some mysterious connections to a very fancy research facility up north.

LQG Absent professor. Literally cannot teach. Reads off last year's notes (written by other people) and calls it a lecture. But he's got many fancy awards under his belt for his research and the rest of the department talk about him with awe in their voice. If you take work to him, he will undoubtedly rip it to shreds, but not in a mean way. Half the students hate him. Half the students make him a meme. A few of them worship him like a god.

YQY The nice one. He teaches amazingly, heads a healthy research team, and has some banging papers under his name. The students know him as the best teacher, but behind the scenes he is literally keeping the department together. Wrangles with management and does a lot of outreach stuff on top of all of this. The students are convinced he literally lives on site because they keep seeing him at weird hours of the day. This is half true.

MQF The Professor. When you say 'professor', MQF is the person who comes to mind. The students think he is actually a robot, because they've never seen him do anything other than his job. His teaching is adequate but without personality, and he is extremely mild mannered. Unbeknownst to them, he is known as the 'mad scientist' of the department - he has a bizarre attitude to safety and often goes utterly crazy with experiments which are only just toeing regulations. A pioneer of his (somewhat niche) field.

QQQ Social justice warrior. The one who actually strikes when there's a strike on, and organises all of the diversity events. The student have mixed views on her. She struggled against a very sexist department back in her day and still gets a lot of hateful feedback, so she's learnt to take zero fucks. Which is cool but also means a lot of valid criticism gets taken as personal attacks. With all the drama, everyone seems to forget that she's actually a really big name in the field, receiving some fancy awards around the same time as LQG. Her phd group is surprisingly chill.

I finished svsss

I quite liked it. I didn't cry as i expected but i did feel extremely bad at some scenes to the point that i get teary when i think of them

But while reading I was very unbothered

I have a few points to make

Luo Binghe is an interesting character and he's so well written. All of them are really well written i have no complaints about that. Sadly even if I enjoyed his character i didn't get very attached to him. Both Luo Binghe And Shen Qingqiu have some issues and they misunderstand each other so much! Reading tgcf changed me- XL and HC are so understanding with each other and then we have these two.

Really a 180° from the "even if you must keep secrets from me I understand" couple to the "I don't trust you because im pretty sure you hate me" couple.

My favourite character that didn't even appear except for flashbacks was Shen Jiu. I wish there was more of him i love characters who are sad and bitter and jealous and mean. I'd say I have an "I can fix him mentality" but its really more of an "I want him as he is" one.

And he was always on my mind while reading cause Shen Yuan really came and took over just like that and we aren't told what happened to my man. And if he saw what was happening to his body he'd be horrified too.

Wahhh and the relationship he had with Liu Qingge! I actually don't remember them interacting more than once? And its Liu Qingge reminding him he didn't get to start cultivation at the age he was supposedly to (so mean!!). I really wish they had the chance to make up. Do i ship them?? Idk possibly but i mainly just want them to get along.

Not only his relationship with Liu Qingge but also Yue Qingyuan! I know what happened between them but i don't think it was from the main story? I believe i saw some posts about it since I don't remember much being said of them in the actual book other that Yue Qingyuan seems to favour him. Perhaps it's in one of the extras. They're so sad anyway! Yue Qingyuan is so understanding and good to Shen Jiu! Obviously its partly cause he feels bad but did he really even have the chance to save Shen Jiu? Im sure he would have if he really had the means.

Idk if you can tell I go crazy for tragic bitter-sweet character relationships...

What im realising is that i really just wanted a book from the perspective of Shen Jiu (T°T)

okaaaayy, so, i saw a post that i think was sort of targeted towards one of my posts talking about how "lbh was better than me bc i too would've gone bat shit insane"

and i would just like to say that i am in no way justifying bingge or bingmei's actions, and i think i made it pretty clear that i knew how fucked and unhinged lbh was ahaha..? though it's not just because one guy rejected him, but because of the terrible side dishes, nasty after taste, and tragedy galore!

all i was rlly doing was putting myself in lbh's shoes. in my post, i was saying how if i was thoroughly bullied and alone throughout my whole life and then was randomly taken cared of by someone and proceeded to fall completely in love with them, and then out of nowhere they turned a complete 180 and pretty much told me to fuck myself bc of my race and pushed me down into literal hell, i think i would've gone crazy! absolutely bonkers. then that person kept running away from me when i'm just trying to talk to them? i don't know how my mental health would be able to take that! the post was more placed in a joke-y manner, but i do think that i would've done the same if that was my situation. is that okay? hell to the fucking no, i'd be horrified of myself if i were to see me doing that no matter the reason. the same goes for the og, the pidw binghe's situation

and really, the same goes for sj as well. if throughout my whole life i was on the streets and then a slave and beaten etc... shit, i probably would've turned out just like him. it doesn't make it right, and i'm not justifying it, but i'm placing myself in the characters' shoes and understanding how they came to be such a way

so, i was pretty much saying that i understood luo binghe, though in no way did i mean to excuse his actions. but i understand that it sounded like i was justifying it, so i can 100% see that now looking back which i am completely at fault for. and, i for one also dislike it when people try to downplay luo binghe's actions or justify what he did

"by your logic, can we excuse serial killers going on a rampage because the person they liked refused them?" no, absolutely not. and no, i wouldn't be okay with a crazy bastard taking it out on someone i cherish for a stupid reason. i wouldn't be okay with someone taking it out on anyone for any reason. there is a line between reality and fiction that i do not cross, and even in fiction i can very thoroughly recognize the fucked up side of my favorite characters

lbh's fucked and definitely a little more than unhinged, and i don't truly think that he's a completely good or even bad person, but i do appreciate that (at least, to me) he seems to try to become a better one after all of that at the end of the series and recognizes that he can't own sqq

and, hey, sj is one of my favorite characters! i enjoy how mxtx made the svsss characters be fucked in some degree. like how lqg thinks just beating up his disciples is a valid teaching method. i enjoy stories with characters who aren't necessarily "good" or "bad" only. moral ambiguity with characters is so interesting!

i really don't think that we should be putting lbh stans and sj stans against each other because, well, there will always be people on both sides who justify the characters' actions. it's not just one side is doing this and the other side isn't doing that, ykwim? and this isn't even just about lbh and sj when we think about it, it's how some people perceive characters who are morally questionable and don't truly look at all sides of the character! the bad, the good, and the ugly

i love sj and lbh, i love my characters with ambiguous morals, and i love that i can put myself in their shoes and see where they're coming from/why they're the way they are no matter how delightfully screwed it is. especially bingge, he's a deliciously tragic and horrible person

so, if i were to believe that lbh's (or tbh any svsss's characters') actions were okay and justified, and also proceeded to believe so if it took place in real life, then there "might" just be something wrong with me

Things I would change in Shredder and Karai's relationship, and Splinter and Karai.

Shredder and Karai

Ok, I'm going to start with Shredder. Frist, people like me, can obviously see that Shredder was being totally abusive towards Karai, in more ways than one and the thing I would change, I would change how we did not get to explore enough of Karai's childhood.

Am I the only one who, after watching the Lone Rat and Cubs episode, was like, "Huh, I wonder what Karai's childhood was like?"

I mean I get it, the turtles were the main characters, so we got to see their origin but, in my opinion, I think seeing Karai's origin, her childhood, would have helped and made up for all the things we don't know about her!

Like how did she become a kunoichi? How did she meet Shinigami? Did she have any other friends besides Shinigami? And we could have seen more of her and Shredder's relationship but nope! No. Karai doesn't get an origin or even an episode of her very own, no, she gets nothing but LeoRai. Barf!

So, yeah, I would defiantly explore more in Karai's life and her relationships in the Foot, mainly, Shredder and Shinigami. Sad as it would be, I would have liked to see, how neglectful, emotionally, mentally, or even physically abusive Shredder was towards Karai. And I would have loved, to see how she and Shinigami became friends, and get a little bit of Shinigami's story as well.

Another thing I would change, is Shredder's obsession over her. Shredder comes off way too obsessive and creepy, and I know you guys think I am crazy but, he honestly does come off as some sort of predator.

The way he says, "She's mine!" Is the same way, how he said Shen was his. It just feels like Karai was Tang Shen's replacement to him. I mean, honestly, I wouldn't put it below him because I truly believe Shredder is that evil and sick, but...no. No. I would have done it like Thanos and Gamora.

He still would not love her, just act like he did. At first, Shredder took Karai and kept her, because he wanted complete revenge of what Hamato Yuuta did to him and he wanted something to remind him of his victory, also a reminder of the woman he (so-called) loved.

In truth, Shredder hated Karai, and hated being around her. He would never speak to her unless absolutely necessary or when he punishes her. Every time he looks at her, he sees the face of the woman he killed, and she would also remind him of her father almost as much as she reminds him of her mother, which would just fill him with so much hate and disguised.

But then, when he saw Karai's potential, saw how useful and deadly she was, Shredder found a new use for her and so, he trained her as his weapon. A weapon he trusted most to get the job done. After that, Karai was almost always by Shredder's side. He still would see Shen or Yoshi in her, and when that happened, he would lash out, violently but he was slowly, shaping Karai into his perfect image and he hoped that soon, he would rid of all traits of Yoshi.

However, Karai was stubborn as her father was and she was fierce as her mother. No matter what Shredder did, Karai never lost herself completely, never gave him too much control over her. She was his perfect weapon, his favorite daughter, but she was never going to allow him to own her and her choices.

Last thing I would change, is that I would have not let Karai get captured by him so much! I am so sick of the whole, damsel in distress! The only one, I would keep is Vengeance is mine because I do like Karai's mutation and I think it's really cool, and different for her character. (Sucks that we didn't get to explore much of her mutation either)

Splinter and Karai

Ok, first thing I would change, is how these two have no relationship at all! Don't you guys want to get to know each other, make up for lost time?! Splinter, since episode two you have been saying how much you miss your daughter and regret what happened the night she died! Karai, you have been wanting your father's love and attention since we've met you, and you now have a father who is ready to give that to you! Like, what was the point of Splinter having a long-lost daughter if they were never ever going to spend any time together or have at least one episode of them, spending time together, like Splinter does with April!

When Karai comes back, saying she wants to rebuild the Foot and yadda yadda, I would want Splinter to one day check on her and then somehow, have Shinigami convince Karai to let him join on a mission.

They do some bonding, maybe a little bickering, and their father-daughter relationship start to grow from there.

I would have also liked it if Splinter got to tell Karai, how he met his mother and maybe a little background of his childhood.

Another thing I would change, is how after Splinter saved Karai from the brainworm, I wouldn't have let her fall. I mean, this man got a pile of steal metal pipes off of him, sending them flying when Shredder hurt Leatherhead and yet, he could not pull up his own daughter from falling down a drain? Give me a break!

No, I would have let Karai be saved and reunited with her family, and instead of going to Japan to get Shinigami, she stays with her family and calls her friend to come to New York because she will need her help for future battles.

Finally, the last thing I would change, is how Splinter does not help Karai through her trauma when she clearly has a lot. He probably just wants her to make the first step and come to him when she is ready, which I understand but I would have loved it, if Splinter helped guide her, like he always guides his sons in the right direction. Maybe telling her of some of the mistakes he made because when he first warned her of revenge, I swear, it sounded like he was speaking from his own experience with it.
