So with Birdo joining Mario Kart 8 this month, we also found out that there are FIVE MORE characters getting added alongside future track packs. Awesome. Fucking radical.

BUT WHO!?! The only hint Nintendo has given is a quote that states: “Two upcoming waves of DLC are still to come, featuring more returning courses and characters from across the Mario Kart series”.

With that in mind, here is my baseless speculation, hopes, dreams, and armchair IP management.

Diddy Kong - After appearing in Double Dash!! and MK Wii, I was surprised he wasn't in 8 from the get-go. He's also in MK Tour! He's a 3-timer! He has cachet and cred, but he's not my favorite potential Kong addition. I'd be happy to see him, but I'd rather see Funky Kong or Dixie Kong.

Paratroopa - Nothing against Paratroopa, but I think we have Koopas covered with Koopa Troopa and Dry Bones. If we're getting a new low-level mook driver, it really, REALLY should be Goomba. Yeah he hasn't been playable in a Kart yet, but the track packs have included plenty of brand-new courses.... who's to say a newbie or two can't slip in?

Petey Piranha - Nintendo loves this big dumbass. He's not my top choice, but he's funny and weird. More Mario Sunshine/Double Dash!! representation is fun too.

Pac-Man - Yeah here's a wildcard. MK8 already has Link, Animal Crossing Villagers, Splatooners, and Miis... who's to say they couldn't branch out to Namco? He's already shown up in two different Mario Kart arcade games!

R.O.B. - Another longshot, but he was playable in MK DS! My personal R.O.B.-stalgia has come and gone, but I wouldn't kick the funky little robot out of kart either.

Honey Queen - She's only been in MK7, but a little more Galaxy representation would be cool. I also love that she's a heavyweight. A big cute fluffy bee is a charming alternative to the beefy lunkheads and villains that usually dominate that weight class.

Wiggler - Wiggler was also only playable in MK7, but he's also been a staple of the Mario franchise since his debut in Super Mario World 100 billion years ago. Another big cute bug, but with a little more cachet and cred. Bonus points for forcing Wiggler to drive the car shaped like him.

Pauline - The mayor of New Donk City and Mario's first damsel in distress is already playable in MK Tour! Her whole sultry singer thing would set her apart, and MK8 could REALLY use some Odyssey representation.

Hammer Bro - Another Tour driver! Yeah I know I said that the next mook should be Goomba, but have you considered the fact that I really like Hammer Bros??

Captain Toad - He's in Tour too! I don't know if he's different enough from Toad and Toadette to be worth it... but it'd be cool to see him. If we're getting a third Toad I think Toadsworth would be a lot more fun. Like Goomba, Toadsworth hasn't been playable in a previous Kart, but maaaayybe?

Nabbit - New Super Mario Bros. U's prankish bandit is also playable in Tour. Nabbit's popped up in plenty of spin-off titles since his debut, and who doesn't love a little klepto bunny? At the same time, I think the Koopa Kids have the "fun mischievous little shithead" archetype covered and then some.

King Bob-omb - The iconic first boss of Super Mario 64 made his driving debut in Tour. I would absolutely love to drive around as this big stupid idiot. Hilarious. He a orb with a mustache and a king hat. GIMME

SWEET BABY PRINCE KAMEK THEY DONE YOU SO DIRTY FOR LIKE 25 FUCKIN' YEARS - Bowser's wicked man-witch, advisor, babysitter and punching bag was ALMOST in Mario Kart 64. You can look up screenshots! He got dropped at the last second for Donkey Kong, which is totally fair, but then he didn't get another chance until Tour?! Tour IMO doesn't really count. It's just not as fun. My wishful thinking brain is gonna just hope that the Yoshi's Island track that was added is a hint that Kamek's on the way.

Chargin' Chuck - Another ridiculous Tour dude. Football Koopa! Fuck it, why not! His hamburger car kicks ass too. Look he's just more interesting than Paratroopa, okay?

And then it is fun to go full bluesky. If they want to add more guest characters, Kirby and Captain Falcon would both be perfect for wildly different reasons. Some Wario Ware representation would be insanely welcome, especially athletic disco-man Jimmy T. or the scooter-driving Mona. We could use some Luigi-love too! E. Gadd from the Luigi's Mansion games would make sense, but Kitsune Luigi from Super Mario 3D World would also be a delight! He'd fit right in with Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach!

Whoever ends up joining the race, I'm excited to see 'em! I love this friggin' game!

i've been brainrotting a pokémon au with gamblerduo (rtgame and jerma985) simply because i have nothing else to occupy my brain with.

i could only come up with jeremy's team up until now because rt's would be based on stats and stuff like that which would be a bit difficult and take a long time, at least until i rewatch a few of his pokémon videos and try to guess which pokémon he'd keep in a permanent team on an universe he's an actual trainer. jerma's team is far easier because he caught his pokémon based on weirdness, cuteness, ugliness. the uglier the better. giant doll eyes? absolutely. looks like a fucking beast who could smash him into a pulp and is also the most horrid thing you could ever see? it's his now.

anyways, hear me out:

his first pokémon was a buzzwole who was lurking after him, a huge ugly thing that was actually super clingy and lovely towards jerma after he caught it, but despite its jolly nature, he's scared shitless of it. he doesn't trap it in a pokéball because he thinks letting all his pokémon loose is good, but he's immensely scared of ever referring to it (he feeds it, and gives it Scared Affection when it needs, but nothing past it). also, the main reason why it liked jerma so much was because he was just some beefy blond guy with nice eyes walking around without any buddies yet (other than human friends), so the big bug just found himself in jeremy, deciding his vibe was nice enough.

the second one he had ever gotten was a pupitar, which he didn't even know was previously a larvitar. for some reason the idea of carrying around that big dumb cocoon was really funny and he decided to commit to the bit, putting it inside a backpack after he and his buzzwole decided to actually do something cool for once and go battle away in the world. BUT! when he had to make it fight after his low level buzzwole fainted, he simply watched it win, start shining and evolve into a huge tyranitar right in front of him. it has a naive nature, and it's almost as harmless as his buzzwole. he's also pretty scared of it because it's fucking huge, but jerma's more used to its cute eyes, so he learned how to take care of his two beasts and love them despite the fact they could easily kill him.

his third pokémon was espurr. he wasn't scared of it, just curious, thinking it was some funky little guy. he didn't know it had a sassy nature, so trying to befriend it was a bit stressful. in the end, he ended up adding it to his team after they went on a little mission together and he could properly bond with it. the big eyed little thing is now always on his shoulders, staring at people, like "this is my trainer. fuck off. i'm trying to explode you with my mind."

his noivern, of quirky nature, was literally the only noibat that had evolved in the cave jerma entered, and it flew right into his face. just fucking ran him over. and it startled literally everyone because of its weird ass ears that no one had ever seen before. and everyone screamed. and the noivern was stuck to him. and they were trying to run/fly. and it was fucking chaos. they ended up bonding after the screams made the entrance to the cave get closed off by falling rocks, the noivern helping him get out, not only getting closer to jerma but the team he had. it wanted jerma to catch it at the end, and it was welcomed with open arms.

oh, what about his toxtricity? his? he doesn't have any toxtricity???? oh. the one who suddenly started accompanying him on his journey but he never realized he didn't catch and it was simply a wild pokémon being his friend? just some low-key toxtricity who was Just There out of a sudden and no one really paid attention to the fact it just joined them like he was caught?? oh yeah, THAT toxtricity. he ended up giving it a pokéball after people pointed out how funny it was to have a pokémon be yours and not yours at the same time, the chill guy even bringing him an ultraball just because it didn't like regular pokéballs nor greatballs. it had chill nature obviously, and it helped jerma charge his phone even before becoming part of the team. overall an amazing buddy, bonded with noivern the most.

his final buddy was a goddamn shiinotic that just... has a lot of brains. it has brave nature. and it just gets really stressed watching everyone else get into trouble and get fucked up over the silliest things. so instead of using it's little fingers on a sleeping jerma the first time it saw him sleeping on the floor of the forest, it had to wake people up over his tyranitar rolling over and almost crushing him with its weight. and it just started doing that for him. instead of a c= face, it has a >=c face now. it's always on jerma's hair too, on clinging onto his backpack, it has become friends with espurr too since they seem to be the smallest in size yet the biggest in brains on the team.

btw, he doesn't know the gender of any of his pokémon, and he doesn't care much, and when it comes to funky accessories, sometimes they wear ribbons, sometimes they put bowties, everyone just kinda stayed gender neutral to him and since they all don't seem to mind, he also doesn't ask. they're just his friends, being male or female doesn't really change his views on them or anything else, since they don't got attract or any gender based move. he also doesn't know that, at some point, his team became insanely strong. his buzzwole could be lvl 87 and he doesn't know. his tyranitar is about lvl 80, meanwhile espurr and shiinotic are both at lvl 100. toxtricity is a bit weaker, at lvl 69, but it's because it is a bit lazy to battle. the items they hold were all given by espurr too, he doesn't understand much about being a trainer yet, but he slowly starts getting the hang of it and is at a medium level amount of knowledge.

Here’s some stuff about each of them!!

Kajo

30 years old.

A gremlin who refuses to eat her vegetables. Doesn’t follow the Green Pact outside of Valenwood anymore, but it’s A Task to get her to try something other than potatoes. Cicero has somewhat succeeded in this, but he is about to give up as well.

Sometimes eats bugs and everyone else is like “cAN YOU NOT?”

That’s a nice big tree you got there, mind if I climb it? She will get stuck.

Biromantic asexual. Moronsexual.

Her mother taught her how to use bows. Her father taught her how to take naps anywhere.

Has two younger sisters, Kuisma and Kuura! Fun fact, all of their names mean something in finnish; Kajo means shimmer or gleam, Kuisma is the finnish name for the hypericum plant, and Kuura means frost. (Not sure how lore-friendly names for bosmer these are, but eh.)

She’s a whole damn circus and it’s even worse when she's adventuring with Cicero. Somehow manages to keep the Dark Brotherhood running (it’s actually Nazir who keeps it all together, shush).

She might be being a total fool and playing around a lot of the time, but does take her position as the Listener very seriously. 

Cailon

Kajo’s cousin! Their mothers are sisters and come from an altmer-bosmer family. 

55 years old.

Archmage of Winterhold. Also kind of sort of but not really a member of the DB. Doesn’t really do assassin stuff, but uses his connections to give the DB information and resources when needed.

A master of acting serious and professional by day, a funky dude by night. Has a weird sense of humor.

Gay.

Doesn’t like being called a Thalmor just because he’s an altmer and will snap someone’s fingers one day.

Neyon

She’s almost as tiny as Kajo and Rali.

31 years old.

Like Cailon, not really a member of the DB. Can’t resist when Kajo asks for help, tho. They’re close friends.

Bi.

Also a mage at the College, becomes Cailon’s right hand or smth. 

A brilliant scholar, likes to study and write a lot. 

Has some nasty scars on her face, says that she fought a bear. It’s just a joke, tho, she doesn’t know how she got them since she’s had them as long as she can remember.

Rali

Somehow functional lesbian.

A mysterious assassin never reveals her age (she’s like 22 years old, a fuckin toddler).

Always internally screaming. Even her neutral expression looks like she’s angry. Secretly a big softie.

Loves Halla, her big beefy girlfriend.

Likes to argue about everything with Kajo. It’s kind of a hobby at this point. Respects the Listener regardless.

Probably the most capable assassin in the DB at the moment. Can get any contract done nice and easy, sometimes gets bored when they’re not challenging enough.

Actually distantly related to Nerevarine Urtielle. No one believes her.

Her real name is Uleya. She thinks no one knows it, but actually everyone knows it.

Halla

Rali’s big girlfriend. Love her tiny, angry gf. Also a lesbian.’

Youngest one of the bunch, 20 years old.

Will and can fight a bear with her bare fists. Probably has. Claims that she has fought a giant and won, too. Everyone believes her.

Cailon has basically adopted Halla. 

Halla’s family greatly disapproves her life choices, but she really couldn’t care less.

Ran away from home, started doing mercenary work, accidentally messed with a DB contract and Kajo invited her to join the fam. (They met pretty much the same way Kajo met Astrid.)

10. Dendy from OK KO!

Everyone loves an adorable nerd side character, but Dendy is something special to me. She never had any friends before meeting KO, and has learned a lot about friendship and helping those in need since her debut. She reminds me a little on Hatsume from BNHA (which is kind of like the anime version of OKKO anyway) in the sense that she isn’t bound to the limits of her power. Even though she has the power to jump super high by charging up her feet, she does most of her amazing feats with her inventing and coding skills. A 10/10 friend!

9. Commander Peepers from WOY!

Out of the four main characters from Wander Over Yonder, it wasn’t until the very end of the series that I had decided on a favorite. Another nerd here, but very confident and a master at getting shit done! Even though some of the reason that I love Peepers so much is his legendary voice actor, I still admire his creative design and role in the series. Some of his best moments, in my opinion, are when he and Sylvia put aside their fighting tendencies and work together to do something badass. 10/10 fucking superb you funky little eyeball

8. Oscar from SCI!

Summer Camp Island hasn’t been around for very long yet, but Oscar’s design, voice, and passion immediately caught my eye. His never-ending friendship with Hedgehog is just what this age needs: an innocent friendship between different genders without drama about crushes or anything. Oscar has so much passion for everything, and even though he gets picked on about it by Susie, a kind heart and a child’s spirit. 10/10 best friend material.

7. Radicles from OKKO!

This dude deserves a ten on every list. His telekinetic powers go well with his beefy alien appearance, but below the surface he has heart of gold and a pure soul. He’s passionate about pretty much everything, and loves his friends more than anything. His love for cats and playing with cars is something that he is reluctant to admit, but everyone still loves him for it. 10/10 good boy

6. Nerris from CC!

Camp Campbell is full of personality, from our spunky wild child to this determined D+D mage. Nerris, apart from having a unique design and adorable voice, is one of Camp Camp’s best side characters. Her spontaneous and mildly violent nature at the beginning of the show has shown a lot of growth through bonding with her fellow campers and learning to put aside differences with her former magic camp rival, Harrison. 10/10 would recommend on a quest.

5. Nikki from CC!

Another Camp Camp character! Whooo! Nikki stole my heart immediately, shortly followed by Nerris. Nikki’s wild personality is always apparent, whether she is climbing trees, eating bugs, or digging up human bones. Her energy seems to hold the main three together, somehow always finding a way to rope her best friends Max and Neil into wild adventures. 10/10 Nature child

4. Marceline the Vampire Queen from AT!

All the way from her debut back at the start of Adventure Time, Marceline has always been a big favorite of mine. Her personality, design, voice, and fire-as-hell music will always hold a special place in my heart. Her amazing character development has turned her from a bossy fun-loving goth to a passionate, friendly bisexual icon :) Marcy’s character arc was one of my favorites in the whole series, added to her healing relationship with Simon and Princess Bubblegum, making for an amazing iconic character with multiple layers. 10/10 at everything

3. Milo from MML!

Milo Murphy’s Law can never beat it’s creators’ previous timeless masterpeice, Phineas and Ferb, but with a main character like this, people will certainly remember this one. Despite his genetic condition to attract the worst possible scenarios, he is always on step ahead and ready for anything Murphy’s Law throws at him and his friends. Milo is well designed and has a great personality, not to mention he is voiced by the legendary Weird Al! He would almost definitely go to hell and back for his friends, add with his luck, he probably will at some point :D 10/10 amazing

2. Connie from SU!

Connie’s character development throughout Steven Universe is one of the most amazing things in the show. She started out as a shy book nerd without any friends, but after meeting Steven, her life turned upside down completely. One of my favorite details is how her former self was seeing things through a rose-colored glass, literally. Her glasses were tinted pink and a big part of her personality. But after Steven magically heals her eyes, she has a revalation about the gems and their war. She pops out her lenses and becomes a whole new person after that. Since then, Connie has become a master swordfighter, a brave warrior, and a crystal gem! 10/10 strong independent warrior

1. Mabel from GF!

Ah, Gravity Falls. A classic. Mabel, as well as being my favorite cartoon character of all time, very much has the potential to be one of the best. Her spunky, bubbly personality is a perfect touch to this amazing mystery show, adding sparkles and rainbows in even the darkest of times. Her love for her family and friends will always be one of my favorite parts of this show, and her sweaters made for a great Halloween costume in seventh grade! Keep shining Mabel! We all love you!
