Maybe he gets a knock on his door late at night, he opens up and its his s/o (they/them) coming over because theyve been having a rough moment with their mental health (mostly involving suicidal thoughts,though they never act on it or hurt themself) and feeling very alone and needing the attention and care of their boyfriend, If I recall correctly hes got run Ins with this kinda stuff before (as he was at risk of suicidal tendencies cannonically), so ig it wouldnt be surprising to him to deal w it.

If thats a little too out of your depth (which is fine!/gen) just write Tim comforting a lonely reader.

The heavy rain was pelting against the windshield of your car, as you parked it along the gravelly ground next to your boyfriends house.

You step out the car, the rain and your tears mixing together, the weather had already soaked you to the bone. You trudged forward to the cabin. (Which Tim had been staying at currently.)

Knocking on the door lightly, but hard enough to be heard over the rain. A few seconds later, you watched as Tim opened the door cautiously.

You saw the relief on his face when he realised it was just you, but that quickly turned to concern when he saw your tears flowing freely down your cheeks.

He opens the door wider, and it doesn’t take long before you practically pounce on him. Arms wrapping around his neck tightly. Like if you were to let go he’d vanish.

He slowly wraps his arms around your wet, cold, and shaking form. His brows furrowed as he stroked your back comfortingly.

He pulls you inside, so you don’t get even more soaked then you already were. He looks at you with a questioning look gracing his features.

“I-“

Your voice cracks and breaks as you try and get out the words, you never thought it would be this difficult to speak up about your feelings. You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself. You then start slowly explain how you’ve been feeling for the past few months.

How your mental health had been dwindling.

The scary thoughts you’d been getting.

He stared at you, feeling incredibly guilty, he’d been through this before… He should’ve noticed the changes in your behaviour. He should have noticed the signs.

He pulls your shaking form into another hug.

“Don’t you ever forget I’m right here.”

He whispers in your ear, placing a hand against your face, wiping your tears away.

“And I always will be.”

As long as he’s there, he’ll make sure nothing bad happens. Safe to say he won’t be leaving your side for a good long while.

post about old modded Minecraft creations.. (this ended up turning into an entire gallery but that is fine)

one time i made a giant pinata that was actually a really compact candy factory on the inside. different rooms linked together by organ-tubes, farms and material processors that crafted dozens of types of (pam's harvestcraft) candy from scratch. and when it was done it would be vomited out just onto the ground & you could go pick it up. one of my favorite artificial life experiments i still love them

their name is Gummi Guts and if you eat their candy they will be very happy :3

at one point i also was obsessed with Witchery and made a witches' hut and ritual circle in the forest; then roleplayed out a whole elaborate ritual using flashy magic items where i floated into the air & cast magic spells/potions and summoned an undead army & transformed into a lich while laughing evilly with lightning going off in the background..just normal fun stuff lol

my main magic place was this Thaumcraft eldritch temple built around the infusion altar (multiple layers everything in a room below it). there are eldritch-eyes blocks everywhere and these void fluid creatures who would rise out of the abyssal depths to help me with my rituals.. they are great friends!! they only need a little bit of your blood just a little.

largest build was an Applied Energistics megastructure computer-temple which was at the peak of FTB expert endgame and had like 6 levels of ME-network submachines that processed unlimited diamonds and other materials siphoned from pocket dimensions. my autism level was so high that i legit went and built this in survival using the blueprint placer thing and over 200k blocks (lots of screens)

i loove modded minecraft so much all the weird magitech aesthetic stuff... my favorite thing was doing builds/roleplays following the aesthetic of each mod

FTB expert (from 2015) my favorite modpack i love when stuff is just ludicrously overcomplicated to craft. not grindy but instead requiring automation of everything thru maaany steps. that tickles my brain a lot

(also the endgame machines were made with DRAGON HEARTS AND CAPTURED SOULS which is actually metal as fuck. like yeah i went and slayed 17 different gods and a couple hundred dragons to make my building nbd. automated dragon farms were a thing though i didn't get around to doing one)

(..ok i dont usually post my ramble ideas but leaving this here anyway)

at many points in Minecraft i just.. Ascended and found that nothing else existed for weeks. just minecraft building in every second of my thoughts. (it gets to be a weird time being disabled with nothing else to do 24/7)

if i played it again i would make my base a weird trippy biomechanical living-machines world where every machine is its own creature (like the pinata) with a name and personality .. and in the magic factory they would all work together :3 with the magic of friendship. or something like that. (also there would be way more RGB blocks everywhere & rave rooms)

OTHER IDEA the livingmachine world would actually just be building-creatures integrated with ComputerCraft consoles & turtles (the little robots). each console/turtle would be like a person and you would go talk to them asking them nicely to output resources for you or open a door. taking the idea even further they could have programmed personalities & needs, you would need to go run functions that talked with them or traded things to get what you wanted; they even could interact with EACH OTHER. :0

one other silly thing i used to think about was the theoretical idea of programming turtles who were self-replicating and would turn the entire world into a hollowed out machine-world that functions like its own society, the turtle apocalypse (if i was a godlike computer i would go and do that but i have meatbrain :/ ), also if you don't know i am talking about the computercraft robots this part is extra funny. (i found out people already coded that but it still is hardware-limited and doesn't end up with a million turtles)

what if the pinata was actually an earth-creature and way bigger like the entire map from top to bottom made in creative mode. just a whole custom map made with worldedit with cavelike biomes + random resources placed about. and then it switched to a survival map and you played INSIDE the creature and its whole body was your world. and you would be like a little red blood cell in there going and building all its organs and systems and maintaining them. the whole thing would be composed of biomechanical machinecreatures all linked to the central brain ComputerCraft/ME console that tracks all the resources & functions

gosh i haven't played minecraft in way too long v_v.. but how i adore it so

usually only singleplayer but i would love to play it someday with other people who are really into building and doing silly roleplays. and of course using the mods that make you a creature, like being an elemental dragons clan or something, or people doing different themes/characters based on one mod in the pack (like Bewitchment the really neat looking new witchery)

meet the youngest levi child: gabrielle. most know her as brielle, the nickname she started going by when she was thirteen. no one rlly calls her gabrielle except for her family & super close family friends.

she was always super close to her dad growing up. like.... total daddy’s girl. it probably had a lot to do with her dad being the ‘fun parent’ tbh 

looves her siblings! always. was v much the annoying nosy little sister growing up. meddled quite a bit in their personal affairs. did the same to her friends too tbh. but in a well meaning way! she just wants her friends and family to be happy and thinks that sometimes they just need a push, yanno??

juggled a million different activities throughout school. she was always picking up new hobbies and was just... trying new things constantly.  embroidery. sewing. drawing. she got rlly into writing one summer and even wrote a book! it uh... wasn’t very good. she was like twelve, ok?

she played quite a few sports in middle & high school. her personal favorite and the one she consistently came back to every year was tennis. oh, she loved everything about it! she did really contemplate maybe becoming a professional tennis player but... she wasn’t that good and she knew she wouldn’t be able to handle that much pressure. 

and even with her million hobbies, she still found time to act out a bit. she was constantly sneaking out of the house. to go to parties, to hang out with her on again/off again boyfriend, to sneak into abandoned buildings after dark. why? she couldn’t really tell you. maybe it was just her boyfriend’s influence or it was her acting out due to her parents fighting OR acting out because her dad was the mayor and it always seemed like everyone’s eyes were on her anyways. who knows! she doesn’t. it was fun though. she does look back on those times fondly.

she has always been very impulsive and not rlly the best at making decisions. she went and got a tattoo of her boyfriend’s initials when she was eighteen. like... right on her eighteenth birthday. she was young, in love, and wanted to prove it. he did the same.

two more impulsive tattoos followed that one. one of a bee on a flower & one that says “remember who you are”. she still has yet to regret the last two. she thinks they’re nice. 

and probably the biggest impulsive decision she’s ever made - she moved to new york city with her boyfriend when she was nineteen. it was while her parents were divorcing and she kinda just wanted to get away. from her mom more than her anyone, she was just like... really upset and angry with her. even though rationally she knew that her parents were probably better off apart. at first, she just wanted to take a trip but her boyfriend was wanting to move so she thought... hey! why not? and off she went. 

she got a job at a little flower shop in new york that really opened her eyes to just how much she loved flowers. she had always been the type of kid to just pluck flowers out of the ground (sometimes out of her neighbor’s garden) and give them to her friends and family. she just never really thought that she could do something with flowers as a job.

a year after the move though, she learned that her boyfriend had been cheating on her. almost for like... the whole time they had been living there??? a mutual friend told her and she was honestly just heartbroken. 

and to like.... everyone’s surprise, her mom was the one she called in tears that night. she’ll say that she just called her mom because she knew her dad was busy as mayor but really... she just wanted her mom. her mom picked her up as soon as she could and brielle ended up staying with her for a few months. it was a nice time for the two of them and they repaired their relationship a bit. it was good for them 

she ended up moving into an apartment with some old friends from high school and has been ever since she moved back (which... if my math is correct was about a year ago?? give or take). she likes having roommates. 

lil fun facts

rides a bike basically everywhere she goes. she knows how to drive, she just prefers not to. the whole thing just makes her really nervous.

loves to cook!!! is always cooking different meals for her roommates. has been known to cook breakfast for any one nightstands/fwbs/significant others her roommates have had over. 

likes insects. she just thinks they’re Neat. has seriously considered starting up beekeeping as a hobby. she’s done a lot of research into it but she doesn’t think her current residence is the best place for it. 

went vegan for like a month back in high school. still enjoys a lot of vegan dishes though! she tries to eat vegan at least once a week. 

likes flavored lemonades. strawberry is her favorite and is the usually what she has in the house. whether she made it herself or just bought a jug from the store. depends on how she’s feeling that week. 

has a lil kitty cat named pepper! she technically adopted pepper with her ex-boyfriend but he just let her take her :) 

really likes pressing flowers. she likes to make art out of them and has considered starting an etsy shop. not just for the pressed flower art but for some of her embroidery and sewing projects.

almost lover/one that got away - this is gonna be the most specific one but like... they were always super close friends. they had feelings for brielle. had this dramatic “Hey, I Love You” confession right before she moved away in a hope that maybe she’d choose to stay. rlly confused her tbh. she left anyway. now she’s back! they could decide to just be friends. maybe they’re over her but brielle has feelings for them. maybe they BOTH like each other but think the other one doesn’t. we could do anything! i just like... angst.

Which is not to say their romance is not the main attraction of the story, but its… more nuanced and complex, as a plot, than any other yuri and tbh, than any other shoujo Ive read. Its more sensible, and slow paced, you know? I think its hard to make sense of the whole, now, that Ive read it, which is not a bad thing. I guess what I’m trying to say is that … Bloom into you, feels to me more like a collection of character studies, and I love that, and if I was going to categorize into a gender of literature, it would be it. Its one of the most introspective mangas Ive ever read.An unpopular opinion: Touko/Yui was a hard sell for me. Touko, herself, I think I only started to like the girl, after like… the first two volumes? And I think thats ok cuz Yui started to like her way later too, lol.My canon OTP: Touko/Yui was a hard sell but it did sell. I love their confessions.Non-canon OTP: Sayaka/Touko is really my main thing on this, like. I’ve CLOSED MY EYES thinking about them. What’s happened after The Empty House? I have my version

Just a touch

The good doctor is no surprise to find Holmes awakes, in fact, it's beautiful to see him again in front of the chimney, between their armchairs. He is so concentrating in thoughts, that he isn't able to see him and in his grey eyes, the flames of fire dancing, his face is so harsh. So John Watson decides to not bother him but just takes a few minutes to looks at him, tries to figure this is real: Sherlock Holmes is there.

Just a few minutes, a little more time to observe him, his tall figure so skinny instead the last time he saw him...but he is him, and this is real.

The doctor shakes himself and takes little steps to go into his room again.

«I had thought to not coming back...» while his whisper stops him, John Watson looks at him but as he imagined, Holmes attention is still in the fire so lost in that flames. Anyway, at that point, he doesn't want go to another place where Sherlock Holmes wasn't.

«My dear Watson, you are so tired, you need to rest.» finally he sees him, his voice reverberates in that room that for a long waited, and the doctor is surprised and reassures for the kindness he reserves to him. He saw it when Sherlock Holmes was in his office and decide to sleep into the patients bed; he even thought he did this for stayed close to him, but Watson deleted that idea because well, it's Holmes!

But now, maybe...

«You're really not the one to make that argument.»

Their eyes meeting and a little smiles go on his lips now, instead of the grave expression he had and John Watson's heart is filled with relief.

«My only wish that I could have seen my old friend Watson in the other chair which he has so often adorned. So please, take a sit.»

«Just a question, what do you meant earlier, when you said you thought to not coming back?»

Holmes face being dark again like a candle extinguished in the wind.

«Holmes, i apologize i didn't mind to...»

«Don't worry my friend, i suppose both of us have dark thoughts, maybe different but similar in nature.» he sigh likes a heavy pain trouble him, and the doctor just able to go close to him so quietly, because he has fear Holmes can escape at the comfort he wants to give to him, even only just like this.

«You see, i was scared, yes i was afraid...you didn't want coming back here. I thought some examples of your possible reactions, and that's was a possibility. Maybe you could have just repudiated me.»

«Oh, Holmes,» his heart feels the heavy of his pain.

«How can you think that?» Watson's voice encrinites into an injured pride, this is so hurting that he needs to put his hand on the shelf of the fireplace, in front of Holmes' hand.

«I'm sorry Watson, in fact i even didn't predict your real reaction when you saw me, my deduction skills for the moment, is low with you. I'm sorry.»

«Holmes...»

«I just desired to find you here, to believe you are here and not a ridiculous fantasy of my dream.»

«I'm here, and i'm real.» his tone go soft for the fragility he sees in Holmes, he is so breakable; then the doctor have the feeling if he was going more close to him, Holmes would have vanished like a ghost that never existed.

Suddenly and automatically, his hand meeting Holmes hand in the shelf of the fireplace, and neither of them able to move don't want to interrupt that moment. When good doctor's eyes meeting the detective's, he expects to find some repulsion; as he always said in the past about feelings, but this is not what he finds. They are many emotions, but not that.

Just after a few minutes, John Watson is conscious of what they did, and his glance goes down, tries to distance the hands. But Sherlock Holmes stops him because he locks their fingers together.

«Holmes.» So shock and with hope, he calls his name, and when he looks at him, he sees the resignation in his grey- penetrates glance.

«I can't do otherwise.» And before Watson can completely understand this sentence, something happens: so gentle, Holmes leaned on him so Watson stood on tiptoe, and their foreheads touch.

Both remain quiet, and when Holmes closes his eyes and barely breathes, Watson cannot dare to do so, because he wants to observe him. Any part of his face, he wants to absorb every "breathing" of this perfect moment.

When the detective looks at him, flames of fire shine in his grey eyes and guide the doctor to do something; it had always been a hidden thought and a forbidden dream in the depths of his mind. Because of this is inappropriate in the period that unfortunately they were born, because it was wrong... but now it's not a problem, not anymore. After so many years, they have a chance from God to be together again, and both don't want to waste time again.

So he leaned a little more to him for brushing his lips and then he waits, with tiny eyes looking at him. Holmes remains still for a while, but later, so gentle like it's the most precious and delicate things in the world, he also touches Watson's lips.

They do nothing but this, and it's the world for them.

When they separate, only there Sherlock Holmes speaks again.

«John, I hazard a request and it's a bit odd, but if you may.»

The sound of his name from Holmes's lips is delicious, their hands still holding when Watson answers.

«This is not news with you, my Sherlock. Ask me.»

John Watson blesses the fire, because he sees Holmes's cheeks turn red, and his eyes shine for a while in the light of embarrassment.

«I think if it's possible, you want to sleep with me, we're both troubled by nightmares, so maybe together this would be solvable, there's a good chance. I promise you that Mrs. Hudson would do not realize, you know i'm a morning person. I know it's so inappropriate but ...»

«Yes, I want it!» Watson interrupts him with a sweet smile, so brilliant that Holmes duplicates.

«Perfect.»

Then they separate only to go together in Holmes' bedroom, there both lie down in silence and look at each other for endless minutes; their eyes shine like the stars in the dark sky, visible from the open window on that April night.

John Watson covers Sherlock Holmes with the sheet, a little more.

«Good night, my dear Sherlock.»

«Good night, my dear John.»

So their eyes close, while their hands meet in the bed and hold each other again.

Ooook. You asked for it. I’d say don’t even get me started on this one but u just got me started. I literally just finished listening to my *cough* limited vinyl FOR LIKE THE 67TH TIME SO HEEREEE WE GOOO I LOOVE THIS ALBUM OK

so FIRST OF ALL this is the best fucking album to listen to in the car if you have friends like me and all you do in your freetime is basically driving somewhere and singing your heart out o some good PANIC! IT’s SO FuN!

some things i think about this album in general:

i guess all of you know brendons voice like holy hell it’s so amazing. he is so good. I love him and i love the music he writes but sometimes i felt like his music doesn’t rly allow him to show everything he’s got. I’m not hating or anything but if you’ve heard his performance of let’s say soul of a man for example, you could get a feeling that his voice is just too big for albums such as afycso or twtltrtd. don’t get me wrong i LOVE those albums. I love all of them so fucking much. But i sometimes felt like he didn’t get the chance to show off how talented he is, like he did on broadway.

when he said that his broadway experience influenced the writing process i HOPED it would be music that is as big as his voice can potentially be if u know what i’m talking about and then he comes out with something  like THIS. and EVERY SINGLE SONG is so freaking BIG, i think any of them could easily be in a musical of could have been a single or whatever bc they are ALL. SO. STRONG. when i listened to the album for the first time and it was just one huge ass bod after another it was like DOES HE EVER STOP and no he does not. And i’m so happy he doesn’t.

short but intense. not a big surprise rn since it’s been out for a while already but WHEN i listened to it for the first time i was fucking SHOOK like it’s the second song i’ve ever heard from this album (after say amen when they both came out) and it’s such a new and different thing. i love it. it’s a fucking bop. It’s amazing how there’s so much energy going on and it doesn’t ever stop, like even in the “calmer” parts u still have to move somehow cause its SUCH a BOP

2. Say Amen (Saturday Night)

the first piece of art i’ve heard from this era. good god. I had now idea what this album would sound like and when i heard the first few seconds of this for the first time i was like OKaY this is DIFFERENT but I LOVE IT SO MUCH. so freakin catchy, such a bop. 3. Hey Look Ma, I Made It

when i listened to the entire album on the night of its release, this was the first song i didn’t know already so I WAS READY. the melody and rhythm of the verses are so fucking cool and then THAT PRE CHORUS HOLY Moly. I knew that Dillon Francis was somewhere on this album and dear god i love that man so much, he’s so talented. so when i heard the chorus it just felt very dillon-like so i looked it up and i was right lol. somehow this song got me so emotional, i just sat there in the middle of the night and felt so happy for brendon bc its so good and well yeah, he made it and he deserves all of this bc he’s worked so hard for this and yeh it just makes me happy. also DID I MENTION HOW CATCHY IT IS

4. High Hopes

and again, we’ve heard this one before, it’s fucking solid, such a good song. I personally like choruses with a lot of words in them, just like we have it. also FUCKING INSPIRATIONAL. i mean i’m pretty much dead inside and all my dreams are dead BUT STILL. harmonies in the bridge r very dope, again, i love it when the band does back up vocals.

5. Roaring 20s

This one’s my favourite so far. my opinion might change but rn i love this one the most. In the beginning i was like ok what country r we in but god, is that song good. I mean WHAT A RHYTHM. this song just pushes itself forward with tempo and catchy good ass rhymy lines such as MAYBE I’LL SMILE A BIT, MAYBE THE OPPOSITE and the lyrics in general a just fucking cool. Well, roll me like a blunt cause i wanna go home doesn’t rly make any sense to be but you know what i’m talkin about. AND THEN THE BRIDGE. and THOSe MOTHERFUCKING TRIPLETS in that one chorus oh my god. g e n i u s

6. Dancing’s Not A Crime

This might be my least favourite song at the moment but DON’t GET mE wrong i still like it a lot but some other songs are a bit stronger in my opinion. i love the bridge and the lyrics r cute. it’s my best friend’s favourite and she keeps dancing to it and it’s cute. and i LOVE how he sings I JUST WANNA BE YOUR BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND in the bridge, such integrity.

7. One Of The Drunks

I LOVE the instrumentaion on this one. and the lyrics, i’m a big fan of the rhymes. the verse, again, freaking catchy. A lot of songs have that in common on this album: A verse with a good melody and rhythm, then a fantastic pre chorus. and especially in this song i love the pre chorus with that EVERY WEEKEND WITH YOUR FRIENDS, EVERY WEEKEND WHEN IT ENDS and then that lil damn its all good, i guess. so precious. i REALLY like this song and for me personally its so relatable.  

8. The Overpass

now THIS is a HUGE ASS SONG like i see people freaking out on a musical stage or in a movie scene right in front of my eyes when i listen to this one. and that little “let me hear you say something” sounds so cute. who IS THAT? and then the bridge, it’s so different to the rest of the song and so dreamy and then the chorus comes back RIGHT in your FACE BAM

9. King Of The Clouds

this one was out earlier too and god, he had me at carl sagan. no actually he had me at the first second when i heard those harmonies. i ADORE these lyrics, i can relate to them so much bc i spend a lot of time thinking about space and the universe and how unimportant we might be and i love carl sagan. and HOW can a song that only lasts 2:40 contain so much depth and power and everything like ITS BIGGER ON THE INSIDE

10. Old Fashioned

Ok i’m a HOE for CHORDPOGRESSIONS that aren’t the classic pop shit with like F G Am C, you know? Old Fashioned has such a diversitiy between the chorus and the verses and i LOVE that. and most of the songs on pftw do that.

11. Dying in LA

there had to be a slow one on the album and here it is. more like crying in LA tho. ok so the melody in the verses, that swing he does on BELIEVE IT good god. and then you looked at death in a tarot card and you saw what you had to do OMG YES. also i’m a huge sucker for this entire LA kinda concept thing, how its representing dreams and hopes and stuff but also the negative aspects and god i just love it. LA Devotee is still one of my faves too btw. oh and fun fact, brendon said he wrote la devotee with the same person he wrote daying in LA with. yeah so basically i love love love that song, made me cry multiple times. that’s how you end an album godamnit.

ETUDE HOUSE [Pink Bird] February Box: Wonder Fun Park Line Swatches & Review ♡

Hi hi ✌︎. It’s that time of the month again...no, not that time of the month, it’s Pink Bird box time! For February’s box, I decided to go through all the products in one post just to change it up a bit and also because all the products don’t really require a super in depth review. This month’s theme is from their new line Wonder Fun Park and it is beyond adorable. I loove theme parks so they have definitely won me over with their concept and packaging! But of course it’s the product performance that is most important. 

Here is the list of products I got sent this month from the line:

• Dear Darling Soda Tint [PK001 & BL601]  • Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara [Pang Pang Purple] • Candy Highlighter  • Highlighter Brush 

Etude House were lovely to send me some extra goodies for my birthday month and I’ve shown them at the end of this post but I will do a separate review on some of those products in the future. 

First up we have two Dear Darling Soda Tints. There are 10 colours, with 6 being cool toned pink and reds, and 4 warm tone oranges and corals. I was sent 2 cool tone colours: PK001 and BL601.

Packaging They both come in clear plastic tubes with a mint green screw on cap. 

Claims  • Bright and clear colour expression • Smudge-free, close adherence to lips  • Dewy moisturising texture 

The applicator has a heart shaped tip and actually picks up a lot of product. You’ll be able to see each of the applicators below. 

Let’s start with PK001. 

PK001 is a bright pinky red colour. It looks extremely bright in the tube and the swatch but it’s actually not too bad when you apply it. 

Unfortunately the application is really streaky and you can see it how it just looks like a layer of product on my lips in the photo below. The tint doesn’t stay put and moves around as I was trying to get it settle. At this point it feels slippery on the lips. I used my finger to try and even it out afterwards but all that did was transfer the product to my finger 😩

Sooo I decided to do a kiss test - which is basically where you use a tissue to get rid of excess product. It looks much nicer and more natural afterwards. The staining power is average so it was easy to remove. 

NEEEEXT. 

BL601 is a purpleish bluey colour in the tube but when you apply it, it’s very sheer and looks more like a gloss. It looks very shimmery and from the tube, I assumed it would be an actual blue-purpley colour it actually changes colour when it’s on your lips. 

This one I was skeptical about at first but I actually like this one a lot more than PK001. The effect you get looks like the Dior lip glow but with some sparkle. I didn’t need to do a kiss-test with this one. As you can see from the photo below, it gives a nice soft glow to my lips - quite pretty! 

On to the mascara! There are 2 colours: Purple and Mint. Mint looks more turquoise to be honest from the photo. I got sent purple and I fun testing it. 

This is my first time trying an Etude House mascara, meaning I can’t compare it to other mascaras they have, sooo I will give my first impressions on it based on what I look for in mascaras. 

It claims to have a 24 hour curling and waterproof effect. You get 8g of product. 

IT’S SO CUUTE. Does anyone like riding the pirate ship? I used to hate it when I was younger but now I could go on it and endless number of times. 

“This is a curl fix mascara that completes powerfully curled up, long-lasting fine eyelashes with its strong adherence on drooped lashes.” 

Basically that means this mascara should have a curling effect on your lashes without needing to use a curler and the effect should be long-lasting. 

Here is the wand! This is their C-curl brush made with “densed elastic white hair”. The shape of this brush is meant to give a natural curl without needing to use a curler. 

On the box it’s directions say there are 2 steps.  Step 1: use the inner surface of the curve starting from the root of the eyelashes and work it to the tip. This is how you get the curling effect. 

Step 2: use the outer surface of the curve to lightly touch the tip of the eyelashes in order to lengthen and thicken them. 

With one layer it took a few tries and even then I couldn’t coat the inner corner area. It takes a while for the colour to really show but I didn’t want to poke around the inner area too much so that’s why there’s nothing there (sorry haha).

The consistency was really wet for a mascara so it doesn’t coat my lashes evenly. I’m pretty sure I don’t have as many lashes as it looks in the photos because with other mascaras, it definitely doesn’t look feathery. 

(I added some plum coloured eyeshadow in the second photo unless you couldn’t tell 😋 ) 

With another layer on, the mascara becomes really clumpy and not so flattering. It hardened my lashes and it also felt like I just had glue on. I think I could get away with wearing it on the lower lashes to add a pop of cuteness.

If you guys are in on the latest beauty trends, you will know that there was this trend going on with rainbow highlighters. It looks like Etude House have come up with their own rainbow highlight and it looks delicious 😅  I’ll talk about the highlighter first then mention the brush later on. 

Once again cute af packaging! 

The highlighter consists of 5 pastel shades that should blend together to create a beautiful highlight. You get 7.5 of product. 

Where do I begin with this highlighter :/ To be completely honest I can’t find anything good to say about it. In the photo it doesnt look too too bad but in real life it really just looks like a streak of white glittery chalk on my cheeks. It’s very powdery and chalky looking. While it does give that highlight effect on my cheeks, it doesn’t look natural. The highlight itself doesn’t last long and it can be easily rubbed off. 

There are a lot of fall outs if you use a brush that isn’t dense enough.

The last product from the Wonder Fun Park line in this box is the highlighter brush. This is a true unicorn-like brush xD the handle is white and the bristles have 3 pastel colours - supposedly to match with the highlight. 

Unfortunately this brush doesn’t work well at all with the highlight because the hairs are very sparse and are too long. The bristles are soft though, but the brush just doesn’t pick up anything. 

Instead, I would use this brush for powder or to stipple out cream blushers.

That’s it for the February box! That’s already 2 boxes down. Final thoughts: these products from Wonder Fun Park line are super adorable but the product performance is quite poor. Out of all the products that I received, I would probably only use the Dear Darling Soda Tints again.

Leafs Talk - Defense

The defense has been a huge talking point surrounding the Leafs. One might say it’s the most vital weakness, other than perhaps the lack of a stable and reliable backup goaltender.

As a disclaimer, I haven’t done any analysis of the numbers myself so take my words with a grain of salt. My opinions are based on my casual watching of the games, plus of a mix of what I’ve heard from other analyses. So hold on to your hats because you’re gonna get a lot of senseless rambling from me.

Nikita Zaitsev: I’ve been quite impressed with Zaitsev’s performance this year. There are two defensemen on the team that seem to be on the ice when there’s a good play happening. One of them is Nikita Zaitsev. I often see him handling the puck, and I almost rarely see him in his own zone, so he seems pretty reliable. He is a 7 year KHL vet, but he is also technically a rookie on NHL ice, so I am pleased to see how well he’s adapted. I’m excited to see how he can elevate his game when he feels totally comfortable on NHL ice.

Morgan Rielly: It looks like he still has a lot to offer. He used to be a pretty offensively-minded defenseman and was always getting up close to the net in the offensive zone. However, I’ve been seeing less of that from him, and I think Babs and the coaches want him to improve on his defensive aspects so that he can become a more complete player. 

Jake Gardiner: Jake Gardiner is the other player who I feel is always on the ice when there’s a good play. Similarly with Rielly, I feel like Gardiner’s been asked to tone down the offense (because that’s what the forwards are for). But he’s also older than Rielly by a few years, so I think he’s been able to adjust his game better than Rielly. Between Gardiner and Nazem Kadri, I feel like both of these players matured and “figured it out” over the off-season and have finally found their groove. I definitely feel very comfortable seeing him on the ice. 

Connor Carrick: The times when I notice Connor Carrick are probably when he gets up close to the net to get shots in. Other than that, I unfortunately don’t pay as much attention to him. What I’ve heard about him is that he is still a little prone to mistakes here and there, but he is still pretty young, so I’m not totally worried at this point. Also, I hear he’s got #grit despite not being a giant so that’ll be interesting. If I recall correctly, this is the kid who got into a fight in the first game he played after getting traded to the Leafs lol.

The further down we go on the depth chart, the more “controversial” the players get, which makes sense. On we go.

Martin Marincin: I would call Marincin a defensive defenseman. He doesn’t get in on the action a whole lot, and seems mostly concerned with keeping the puck in the offensive zone. So with that knowledge, whenever he does make a defensive mistake, I feel like it’s highlighted even more because otherwise, he doesn’t draw much attention. Some people are uncomfortable with him getting too much time, but I don’t mind having him as a depth defenseman.

Roman Polak: One half of the controversial defenseman pairing that people hate. Nicknamed “the Centurion,” I have to admit that I’ve grown attached to him over the past season and a bit, despite what people have said of him. He’s definitely one of the drivers of the infamous Leafs penalty kill, which has been doing very well this season. He doesn’t get in on the offense much, but I think that the Leafs’ powerful offense is enough to get that done. He’s probably not a long-term solution for the Leafs, but until the Leafs are able to develop some reliable defensemen of the young Marlies, Polak seems to be doing an okay enough job of holding down the fort. 

Matt Hunwick: The other half of the Hunlak pairing that people love to dismiss. Also plays on the fabulous penalty kill. I tend to see him moving up the ice more than Polak does, but he’s not an offensive defenseman by any means. I’ve been told that Mike Babcock loves him for his work ethic (especially in the weight room), so perhaps that’s why Babcock likes keeping him around. Similarly to Polak, I don’t think he’s a long-term solution for the Leafs. But he currently holds an A, and I think that Babcock expects him to be a role model for the younger kids while just being a serviceable defenseman.

Frankie Corrado: #FreeFrankie has been a trending topic among Leafs Nation. For those of you who don’t know, Frankie’s been going to practice and working out, but has only played 2 games with the Leafs so far. It’s been frustrating for both him and the fans because it feels like he’s wasting away and not getting any practice playing actual games. He was sent down to the Marlies for a conditioning stint briefly, but other than that, he’s only been able to focus on off-ice aspects (so supposedly he’s really jacked now because of all the time he spends working out). In the games that he has appeared in, he hasn’t looked particularly spectacular, and who can blame him? Mike Babcock’s insisted that he gives ice time based on performance, but it’s difficult to see how Frankie can work his way into the lineup. At this point, some fans feel bad and would rather him even be traded for some ice time :( Yeah, this paragraph just became a sad Frankie post, I’m sorry.

The Marlies

Andrew Nielsen: I haven’t watched him play, but according to his stats, he has the highest point production among the Marlies defense by quite a wide margin. I’ll refrain from commenting though because I haven’t seen him play and I also haven’t heard too much about him (not because he’s necessarily bad, but just because I haven’t paid as much attention to Marlies news this year).

Travis Dermott: Dermott is behind Nielsen in terms of defenseman point production and is also quite young, so it looks like this fellow is on the right track. Similarly though, I won’t say too much because I don’t have a lot of information on him.

Rinat Valiev: I did see Rinat Valiev play a little last year, both in the Marlies and for a brief stint on the Leafs. He looks alright. I don’t remember him being a star, but I also didn’t remember any major mistakes, so it looks like he might be a reliable guy. 

Justin Holl: I remember hearing good things about Holl, but it doesn’t seem that the Leafs are ready to call him up yet. That being said, he is one of the older prospects along with Viktor Loov, so if there is any chance of an emergency call-up, I can see Campbell, Valiev, or Holl being added to the Leafs lineup (after Corrado of course).

Andrew Campbell: He is the captain of the Marlies, but he’s also somewhat of a career AHL-er. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. Between Campbell and Dicky Clune, it looks like they’re the team dads who are helping the kids adjust to professional hockey in a North American men’s league. As I said before though, I can see him being called up for brief 1-2 game stints in cases of emergency.

Viktor Loov: Loov was called up for a bit last year, but since then, I haven’t heard much about him unfortunately. His point production hasn’t been great, and he is one of the older Marlies defensemen. That being said, he’s still only 24, so there’s a chance that he can be a late bloomer. (As a personal aside, I just kind of want him to succeed because he has an awesome name that would be great for all the punny headlines. Also he seems like a decent fellow).
