It's interesting to consider Suguro would have issues with his parents, despite being a model student at his high school. It's interesting to consider his visual and style choices would not have gone well with his, perhaps culturally conservative parents, even if they were familiar with jujutsu or were jujutsu sorcerers themselves.

But for me it's even more interesting to consider he actually got along well with his parents. That perhaps they were understanding, supportive even. I can easily imagine Suguro having a young mother that dotes on him for being so tall and handsome and forward with his appearance and style. A father who's understanding and spends time with him doing something calm like playing Go and listening to his stories of what happened at school and how his best friend Satoru acts, a father who became his role model of patience and how to act in the face of turbulence. Doesn't that hit harder? The image of a Suguro who gets along perfectly well with his parents and, inside his moral conundrum, decides to kill them anyway so he can never look back. Seems like the harsher position a guy so extreme over his own conduct, would put himself into. I'm haunted by Toji's words in his victory over Suguro: "be thankful to your parents [for your survival]" clashed with his following words: "a monkey like me could beat y'all". I think Suguro was haunted the rest of his life not only by the latter, but also by the former.

One time I ate probably way too many mushrooms and I could feel my trip going bad. So, I turned to my roommate and I said something along the lines of,

"I feel amazing but I feel like this sensation has a price and I'm about to pay it."

To which he responded, "What are you, catholic?" And that knocked me so firmly out of my mental state that the rest of the trip was hands down the best time I ever did mushrooms.
