i like to think everyone has a colour associated with them, whether its just your fave colour or what you generally wear most of or what colour your bedroom walls are. i always associate the name sophie with dark blue, my mum is always a nice turquoise, i like to think my colour is a bright sunflower yellow.

i advocate for tech art a lot when people ask about it since i do think as big a learning curve it can have there's ways of making it approachable but i do feel like it would be irresponsible to not mention that the videogame industry right now is kind of uh, Not Having A Great Time. there have been a lot of layoffs with no sign of stopping, so theres a lot of people looking for work and not a ton of open positions. and publishers are being a lottt more stingy about giving money to indiegames right now too. it is Rough Out There, and hopefully, it will get better over time, but, just setting the tone for how things are rn

Finaly finished watching MLP friendship is magic, the final season

Here's a couple of my few spoilery thoughts and reactions:

- when i saw that discord was hogarth my first thought was immediately "oh, thats kinda cute, since he was a redeemed villan, hes trying to teach some of the irredeemable ones about the power of friendship in their own way!" But NOPE! LMAO! hes just a fucking moron that just wanted to give twilight a final boss battle. my god. He keeps fucking up - So glad that they beat the crap out of Cozy glow, that was really funny. fuck them kids - All of the designs of the older mane 6 i very much liked! Exept twilight, i thought it was weird that they copy pasted celestia's lanky body on her (also spike looks WEIRD. but still better than gen 5 spike) - I was watching this all with my gf. When i saw older Applejack and Rainbow dash together with very loosely implied romance i instinctively muttered "i want to kms" It just. instinctively came out of me. Sorry Appledash shippers - I always knew Rarity would be a hot old woman but goddamn im so glad to be proven right. She'd serve cunt all the way to the grave - Brief chaos god pinkie was funny; i thought that was just smth from the comics! I'm already planning on putting that on a fanfic in the future either way heh. - Chrysalis's whole fit was very fun. As always, best villan purely by presentation (ty megamind) - I cant believe starlight glimmer is the one that got like. one of the few actually good fight scenes in the show, against chrysalis. She even did a couple of quips. My god that feels weird. I miss sunset so much. - I cant believe that all we get from Sunset shimmer on FIM is just. a brief, insignificant cameo on that rly awesome cute song in the end, one where she's getting mike-wazowski'd by twilight. What got you into dragon age?

this is plainly embarrassing but i was craving some fresh hurt/comfort fic just to feel something and i didn’t care where it came from, so i remembered the cool art i kept seeing for dragon age and cracked open ao3 and ended up with some kind of condition. a couple months of wiki-haunting, tag-lurking derangement later, and after buying world of thedas vol 1, in my late night fuelled desperate measures i discovered to my astonishment that dao would actually run on the laptop i’d bought for uni. i had never played a video game before, except failing to use my brother’s xbox to successfully make a character walk in a straight line, so this was genuinely quite an alarming development to me. but i endeavoured to succeed nonetheless (by which i mean running around on easy difficulty with my corpsesque prototype surana) and the rest is history

i do not recommend this. none of the above behaviours. cannot express that enough.

#this was like early to mid 2022 #actually on a serious note these have been a couple of the worst mental health years of my life #which shows. i think. JGSHSJSK #and dragon age has not been a perfect experience #but it HAS been a source of. you know. joy and community and passion and a remaining contact with my creativity over that time #its worth a lot to me. so ultimately i do have to be glad i made a series of truly incredibly online life decisions #in early to mid 2022. #but really the h/c fic quality around here is not even that good

1990 Phantom Fic Recs

Since the lovely @wheel-of-fish's stream of the 1990 TV production of POTO, I have been unable to stop thinking about Cherik and know there are countless others who likely feel the same.

Perhaps the only thing more tragic than the ending is the fact that there's so few 1990 fics! And among those tagged many of them take some character inspiration but don't really use the unique premise and setup and characters provided in the Y/K miniseries. So I've decided to compile this list of a few of my favourites! Enjoy!

A much gentler and happier picnic unmasking, where Christine reacts a little differently! I love the character work in this fic; the thoughts and emotions of the characters feel so real, and it really breaks down their motivations.

Together We Dream by Anonymous

This one is brand new and I'm in love with the prose and writing style of it! An extra conversation between Erik and Christine, one that could fit into canon or be a turning point. Christine reflects on some similarities between them, and it leads to this emotional conversation with angst and joy entwined gorgeously.

How Deep the Bullet Lies by oprhan__account

This is more of a hurt/comfort and whump fic, where Erik survives the ending of the miniseries. It's mainly him processing the events of the show and musing on what comes next, and does have a ending that is pointing towards things improving! Currently listed as chapter 1/? , but it's still worth reading as a fantastic exploration of an intriguing concept.

Incredibly fluffy E/C, where Christine gifts Erik some sunflowers. Filled with the adorable shyness and sweetness that this couple has, and I'm in love with the visual image of 1990 Erik and his bouquet of sunflowers. They suit him very well!

Erik takes Christine on their first date together! Fluff including a candlelit dinner and slow dancing. This is an AU where Gerard is willing to set up such a date, but the main focus is the budding romance between Erik and Christine.

A Magical World by pippa-writes

This is actually a collection of four ficlets! They're mostly canon compliant, and range from Christmas fluff to Christine regretting the picnic unmasking. The first one is even a Phillipe centric look at Christine's grief post canon (unfortunately with the canon ending), which I find quite unique and fascinating.

Rêver by trace-of-rouge

Somewhat tragic and angsty one shot, this is Erik musing on the nature of dreams and his feelings for Christine. It's a very good short character study, and I really enjoy the insight into Erik's thoughts.

The Strange Case of Monsieur Belladova by NPennyworth

If I constantly reread my own story then I'm allowed to put it on my own phic rec list, and I am seriously quite proud of how this one turned out! I wanted to explore a happier AU where Erik gets to just work at the opera house; this is written from the perspective of the opera company as they debate whether to say anything about the mask, but it seems rude to point it out when nobody else has. Mostly humor and fluff, with background E/C.
