Oh my god a dog whistle...

I just looked it up and apparently they don't typically hurt the dog or cause any damage so long as they're used properly and not like... Directly in their ear and stuff. Apparently they're used for recall training and stuff which is neat! And with another look, there's sheepdog whistles used for training herding dogs which I really should have known since I've seen them do that before, but I didn't realise it was a specific kind of whistle. That's pretty cool! The more you know!

Honestly, at this point, all I can imagine is management or the Plex staff getting so annoyed at Roxy being Roxy and trying everything to try and get her to do as she's told for once. Like the manager assigns a handler to her who's whole job is try using the dog side of her brain against her by using dog training techniques on her. So some guy is trying to get her to do things on the whistle for a reward of some kind and it works, sure, but she's also not a dog. Like, she can figure out what they're doing here and find loopholes or just straight up steal the whistle. She can just take the reward when they're not looking cause she knows where they're kept and keeping it on a high shelf doesn't work with an animatronic wolf lmao

Maybe after several attempts going South, it's deemed a lost cause and now the whistle is only used to get her attention when she's ignoring all the messages they're sending her again. Or maybe to wake her up from a nap when she doesn't wanna cooperate or something I dunno but I love the mental image of management fucking chasing her around with a dog whistle, a clicker and a chew toy to try and get her to do stuff she doesn't wanna do lmao

If this starts happening in the Fazcade, DJ plays Yakity Sax every time. It's become free entertainment for the animatronics and staff members to watch management try every trick in the book on her and nothing ever works... It would be pretty funny if it worked in unintended ways though. Like, Roxy hears the whistle from across the Plex and in her brain, that means someone has something for her so she shows up immediately. She gets something, sure, but they also give her several commands or jobs to do that she may or may not do. It might give her something to do if she's bored, but I bet a lot of times she just shows up, takes the reward for showing up and leaves lmao

If the manager is particularly good at dog training, they might be trying so hard not to get frustrated with this. A dog is more likely to learn if they do it willingly and can leave if they want to, so if Roxy isn't willing, trying to force her will have the opposite effect. And they've come so far! She shows up for the whistle! And sometimes she does what she's asked to do! If they start trying to force her into things or start severely punishing lack of cooperation, she's just gonna go back on all of this! So they can't force her! No matter how much they want to just grab her by the nose and drag her where she needs to be! It's driving them insane but look how far they've come!

Roxy playing fucking mind games here. Shows up when whistled for, gets her reward and then sometimes does just enough of what they ask her to do to keep them thinking they're making progress, stringing them along as long as possible. It means she keeps getting rewarded for the absolute bare minimum she loves it

Of course, Roxy does everything she's supposed to anyway, but if they're going the dog training route, they've probably figured out she's bored most of the time. So now they're trying to keep her out of trouble with other things and this is the only one that's shown any semblance of success lmao she's so fucking lucky she's become the boardroom's favourite and is too expensive to replace now. Like as soon as she knows that, there's just no hope anymore.

Anyway, I know this isn't what you were asking about so... Imagine Roxy standing there, frozen solid, eyes closed, arms crossed, ears flat back and jaw tightly shut, because Gregory is trying to get her to chase a squeaky ball. He has a whole bag full of them. Roxy is struggling so hard with all the squeaks and she wants to just leave so badly but she knows if she moves even an inch, she's gonna break into zooms and she can't have that... So she's spamming Cassie with messages to come and save her right the fuck now.

Cassie shows up, sees what's going on and immediately drags Gregory out and confiscates all the squeaky balls. The door shuts behind him, she turns to Roxy. "Heehee he's gone!" and Roxy gives her the biggest puppy eyes ever. "You ready?" Cassie asks her as she holds a ball up. Roxy makes a little dog noise of affirmation, and in a flash, the ball is squeaked and thrown across the Raceway as far as Cassie could manage.

Roxy is fucking gone. Cassie can't keep up with her. All you can hear in the empty Raceway is excited squeaking and laughter. Roxy is zooming around the place so fast she puts her go-karts to shame, squeaking the ball like crazy, jumping off the walls and flying over the railings, while Cassie keeps picking up more squeaky balls, squeaking them for Roxy's attention, and throwing them for her as far as possible again. She's curious how many Roxy will try to chew and squeak at once. If the Minis are here, they're helping grab and throw more of them, sometimes drawing her in three directions at once so she doesn't know who to run to first.

This is Roxy enrichment of the highest level! Her favourite game ever! Her brain just switches off and all that's going through her head is squeaks and the need to run even faster! She's having an absolute blast and a half! The game only ends once she's ran out of steam and flops over on the floor for a rest. Her tail does not stop wagging and the squeaking may slow down, but also won't stop at all for at least another hour lmao

It just hits the perfect spot in the dog half of her programming, it's so much fun for her and the most effective way to de-stress she's ever found. And of course, Cassie loves it too. It's so fun to play these kinds of games and to see how excited Roxy gets. If Cassie is an animatronic dog here too in the scenarios you've created? Sure, she doesn't wanna chase the ball too, but even humans roughhouse. There's no way Roxy doesn't crash into her and start a play fight, or that Cassie doesn't try and wrestle the ball away from her sometimes. And if it's a squeaky bear or something? Well there's always tug of war!

Only problem is Roxy getting too carried away and accidentally hurting Cassie a little bit. It's not usually that bad, and sometimes Cassie returns the favour in the next game by also getting carried away, but it upsets Roxy every single time. But she's still very much in her dog brain usually so she comes over to Cassie, eyes all big and pathetic, whining and nudging her with her nose all sad and apologetic... Cassie hugs her every time, says it's fine, she's not hurt that bad, it was an accident, it happens... And then grabs the squeaky ball from behind Roxy and brings the fun back by insisting they keep playing with a lot of squeaks lmao

- the testament of youth premiere had arrived, and to say taron was nervous was an understatement. this was his first real premiere, even if he played a minor role in it, he was still being recognized for his work. he of course had asked you to come with him, thankful for your support through everything so far.

“hey, are you ready?” you call out for taron, who was in the bathroom, finishing his hair.

“almost,” he replies. you can hear the uncertainty in his voice, and it hurts you to think that he’s worried. sure, it’s his first premiere and all, but he was made for this; he is an amazing actor and this movie is a wonderful example.

“alright, let’s head down to the car,” taron says as he steps into the bedroom of the hotel, gathering his phone, his wallet, and a charger. you follow him out of the hotel and into the car that was waiting to take you to the venue.

the drive was pretty quiet. you could tell that taron was overthinking and freaking out, so you reach over and grab his hand gently, squeezing it a little. your touch catches his attention and he smiles thankfully at you.

“alright, we’re here! have fun guys!” the driver announces as he comes to a stop in front of the carpet. taron takes a deep breath and steps out, helping you out after steadying himself.

“you can do this, taron. you were made to be a movie star.” again, taron grins and gives you a quick kiss on the cheek and grabs your hand.

“just stay by my side the whole time, yeah?” he asks.

“i can’t be by your side the entire time, but i promise i’ll be here when you need me.” he nods and begins walking towards the spot he was told.

“and please don’t let go of my hand.”

“never.”

dennis

- “you wanna go to the mall today, dennis?” you ask your boyfriend once you both are awake. dennis has been having bad anxiety since the tunnel fire and has been stuck in the house for weeks, so you figured you would go with him somewhere and try to help him a bit.

“uh,” dennis stutters, trying to come up with an excuse. but, he wanted to get better, and he loved that you were trying to help. so, pushing aside his worries, he agrees.

the entire drive there, dennis kept his hand on your thigh, something that helped calm him down. you knew he didn’t want to go in the first place, but you knew that taking baby steps would be the way to get him back to his normal self.

“what store do you wanna hit first?” dennis asks, holding the door open for you to enter the mall.

“let’s go to the bookstore first. i wanted to get a new book that just came out.” so, dennis follows you around like a lost puppy, watching every move everyone makes and looking for any danger.

after that, you make sure dennis is keeping his mind off of his anxiety and focusing on you, something that makes him happy. and it works. until there is suddenly a loud noise that sounds like an explosion. in reality, it was a store display falling to the ground.

dennis is quick to grab you and hold onto, as if protecting you from potential danger. you turn in his grasp and see that his eyes are wide. immediately, you grab onto his hands tightly, looking right into his fear-stricken eyes.

“dennis, focus on me. it was a display falling. you’re okay,” you tell him. he nods along, knowing he is okay, but the anxiety still bubbles in his stomach.

“i-i’m okay,” he whispers.

“yes, you are.” he begins taking deep breaths as you bring your entwined hands up to your lips, pressing soft kisses to the backs of his hands. he watched you with so much love and admiration, and he suddenly forgets his anxiety and wonders how he got so lucky to have you.

“are you better now?” you ask. he gulps and nods, kissing you passionately and keeping you close to him.

eggsy

- roxy stood at the altar in front of her boyfriend of three years, wearing a beautiful white gown and veil; she looked like a princess and she was glowing with joy. tears sprung to your eyes as they each read their vows to each other. although you were happy for her, you were a bit envious.

eggsy had yet to propose to you, and you’ve been dating for five years. sure, everyone moves at their own pace in relationships and you knew eggsy loved you, but you couldn’t help but want to go through all of this with eggsy.

“you alright, love?” eggsy whispers in your ear, noticing you were a bit zoned out. glancing quickly at him, you nod and look down at your hands, fidgeting with them to ease your worries.

“i’ve known you for six years, i know when you’re not okay.” you sigh quietly and shake your head.

“it’s stupid, don’t worry about it.” eggsy huffs and lets the conversation die, diverting his attention back to the happy couple. it took him a couple minutes before everything finally clicked in his mind; you were wondering when he was going to propose.

upon realizing your worry, he reaches over silently and grabs your hand, giving it a comforting and understanding squeeze. you keep your eyes forward, not wanting to have the conversation now, in the middle of roxy’s wedding.

after the two exchange rings and kiss to complete the ceremony, everyone stands to watch them walk down the aisle as a married couple. eggsy, however, kept his attention on you, his hand still wrapped around yours.

“i promise that will be us soon, love,” eggsy whispers in your ear. “i saw you lookin’ at wedding dresses the other day and it got me thinking that it may be time to take this step in our lives. i don’t wanna propose at her wedding, though, so once we get back to the hotel, i will. it may not be romantic or a surprise now that i told you, but i want you to know that i want to spend the rest of my life with you.” tears pool in your eyes again, but this time, for a different reason. eggsy finally confessed that he wanted to marry you, and even promised a proposal tonight.

“eggsy, i don’t want you to think that i’m rushing to get married. i also don’t want to force you to propose. i-” eggsy is quick to shut you up with a kiss.

“believe me. there is nothing in the world that i want more than getting to call you mrs. unwin.”

dean

- everything has been fine in the beginning. you accompanied dean to a halloween party, although you two split up quickly upon finding your own groups of friends.

you were having fun, dancing with your friends, drinking some cocktails and enjoying the music. but of course, there had to be that one guy who always ruined everything.

your costume wasn’t too revealing, but you were wearing a tight leather skirt. either way, that gave this guy absolutely no right to grab your butt and pull you into him.

“hey sexy. you wanna grind that fine ass all over my python of a dick?” his words grossed you out to no avail, and before you could respond with a slap, dean appeared next to you and socked the man right in the jaw.

“who the fuck do you think you are! grabbing MY girlfriend like that!” the tone in dean’s voice was something you never heard before. it was mixed with anger, jealousy, and disgust.

you were so dazed and confused that you didn’t feel dean grab your hand and begin to drag you through the crowd. his hand held yours tightly, not too much that it hurt, but enough to make you worried there would be a bruise.

once you two burst through the door of the house the party was taking place at, dean pulls you into his body and holds you close, running his hands up and down your back.

“are you okay?” he asks quietly, a totally different tone than from moments ago. you nod against his chest and take a deep breath.

“i’m so sorry i left you alone.”

“it’s not your fault, dean. i wasn’t alone when it happened.”

“but i wasn’t there to protect you from it happening.”

“the only person who’s fault this is is that guy’s. and thankfully you saved me before it could get worse.” dean pulls out of the hug and cups your face with his hands.

“i’ll always protect you, sweets.”

liam

- when liam asked you out on a date, you were a bit surprised. you didn’t expect him to like you in that way, you thought he liked ruth. but, you were overjoyed to be going out with him; he is so adorable and you knew he would treat you well if anything went farther.

“so, how long have you been playing guitar?” you ask as you two casually stroll through the park.

“i’ve been playing since i was young. my parents bought me one when i was six and i immediately started learning. they said i was always singing, making up songs. so much so, they entered me in our local church choir,” he explains.

“well they aren’t wrong. you have a lovely voice and you play so beautifully.” liam blushes and smiles, casting his eyes to the ground.

“i’m glad someone thinks so. everyone else is annoyed with how much i play. but i busk in my free time, so i need all the practice on songs i can get.”

“i didn’t know you busk?” you respond in surprise. he turns to you, the same adorable smile on his face.

“you should come with me sometime. i may make more money if i have a beautiful girl by side,” he flirts, slightly bumping his shoulder into yours in a playful way.

“i’d love to accompany you.” liam’s eyes dart from yours down to your hand that was at your side. he looks back up and slyly brushes his pinkie against yours. you catch onto the hint and entwine your fingers with his. neither of you say anything, just enjoy the comfort and warmth of each other’s hands.

“i really like you, (y/n),” liam whispers, glancing down at you with soft eyes. you grin back up at him and lean up to kiss his cheek.

“i like you too, liam.”

I've never heard of her, but her surname and the "STAR avenue" kind of made me think of Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Peggy Carter, haha.

Magical Animal Companion Heal Rescue... that's one hell of a title. I wonder that's also a reference to something real or just referencing Dammek's Deer Lusus on Alternia that we've seen in some concept-art before? Also gives me some Captain Planet vibes. :P

...Examining that poster closer, Shika kinda reminds me of Sailor Moon (the outfit) and Nepeta (the tail)! And that <> shape on the deer reminds me of Joey's own compass symbol.

So uh, I suddenly wondered if perhaps we'd get a different view of the ceiling from this other side of the room (perhaps something about the Homestuck sun), but no.

BUT, we hadn't noticed yet that we could also CLICK on the stars and the compass symbol here!!!

Wow... so Ms. Claire painted the compass symbol first, then Joey's babysitter turned it into a shirt for her!!!! Wow, Mom really DID have quite the influence on her it seems.

Fuck... I just got hit with the sad thought that when Grandpa died, when he was having the tea party with the doll, perhaps he was imagining the doll to be Ms. Claire. That's really sad to think about and puts the scene into an entirely different light. D:

On a happier note, apparently she calls Grandpa Pa! Ha, makes sense!

Also, "moving on to greener pastures and bluer beauties"... well, I guess that's a way to describe the island in the Pacific Ocean and Jade.

....I thought clicking on the Joey/Tesseract picture would give a much happier feeling, but I was wrong. So wrong. Poor Joey. :(

Oh boy, now it's time to examine her diary! Let's see if she'll let us, unlike how Rose didn't want to let us read her journals. :P

Oh hell fricking yes, plainWonder had the best idea to try and use the Cherub key on the diary instead of the actual diary key. I'm just loving these narrations.

TAP-DANCE THE DIARY OFF THE TABLE. SENTENCES I NEVER THOUGHT I'D HEAR BUT HERE WE ARE. The sillyness of this reminds me so much of those early commands in the introductions of Homestuck characters where they are usually commanded to do something extraordinarly silly and they refuse to do it (unless their name is Jade of course).

And damn... so Grandpa's latest visit was only "weeks" ago! I kinda thought it would have been longer ago, but I guess it's good to hear that he still does come around (...though not very often).

I love the reference to his stupid collection of old globes and mummies and all that stuff.

But now that I'm thinking of him... I wonder what's going to make him actually STOP coming to visit Joey and Jude. Does he stop once Jade has landed? Does he stop before that? What even happens to Joey and Jude at the end of Hiveswap?

Also, I just want to say that Joey's art style is incredibly cute.

...Huh, the first part of the narration here is suggesting that she might find something from her past here that will be important to what's happening here. I wonder what that could be? Something about this Cherub key, perhaps?

Okay, so she's locking the diary again. Wait... hiding the key again? Does that mean she's putting it back in the Puppy Surprise? Can we just go and retrieve it again now, or can't we? Or did she put it somewhere else?

Oh wow, I can't believe you can also use the items/tap shoes on the pictures! Though that actually makes sense I guess.

...N'aww, poor Tesseract. I like how it isn't just some silly gag about tap-dancing the picture of the desk but actually some neat background information!

Maybe trying to use the tap shoes on the picture of the mother will make her think about what her mother thought of her tap dancing?

This actually just made us realize that we can probably use the Cherub key ON ALL THOSE ITEMS IN HER ROOM TOO, and of course also the diary key! ...In the past, before we used the diary key on the diary here.

We're gonna reload our game here to find out just that!

Hehe, I like how trying to use the Cherub Key on the Joey/Tesseract picture gives some information on the timeline of events! That's some pretty cool background info.

I wonder what we're going to learn when trying to use that Cherub Key on the Ms. Claire picture, knowing that she gave the key to her...

Huh! So apparently Ms. Claire didn't give the key to Joey herself but she simply found in her jewelrey box! That might be some pretty important information actually, because it might mean it DIDN'T actually belong to her! Perhaps it was Grandpa who put it in there (or god forbid, someone else entirely).

Anyway, let's see what trying to tap dance on the Ms. Claire picture does...

Anyway, we're gonna wait a while before we use the diary key on the diary again. It might be interesting to try and use the diary key on a lot more items here! Who knows what we could learn from that.

Alright, we're gonna call it a day here, it's already 11:10 PM here. We didn't make much progress tonight, but dang we learned a lot of new stuff!

This game is so fucking awesome and we've barely even scratched the surface after about 3-4 hours of playing this game, Holy CRAP.

Week-End Update: Kismet

Making sure that dogs and families are a great, mutual, match for one another is something we at TLC work hard to accomplish. We know that some times, it just seems to take a while to find just the right family and, some times, people who thought one dog would be the one realize that someone else is actually the best match. When things are meant to be, they’re just meant to be and this week’s adoption featured a lot of that “yup, this was worth the wait” moments.

Our little Jedi master, Tink, waited patiently for the right family to come along and the worth was definitely worth it! Chico II also hung around a little longer than we expected but, once he met his new family, it became clear that the universe was doing him a solid for being so patient.  Some things are just mean to be. The Chihuahua mixes weren’t the only lucky pups celebrating gotcha days this week: Cilantro (now Charlie), Delilah, Diana (now Luna Tonks), Gabbana (now Faith – the last of Guess’s pups), Otis, Penny, Shayna & Sheba (now Pippin) were adopted this week, as was Anna Lee’s pup, Chewy.

Two of the pups already have TLC alumni family connections: Diana’s new big sister is Mady FKA Tamber of the Ta litter from March/April 2014 & Sheba’s new cousin is TLC alumn Samwise FKA Wrangler.

“Hi everyone, Baby’s DNA results came back. It was a 27 page report. She is 37.5 lab, 25 chow chow, and 37.5 mixed breed (sporting, guard, and terrier groups). She tested normal for MDR 1 (multi-drug sensitivity). She is a carrier for exercise-induced collapse. It’s an interesting report to read. You can see her family tree. Have a good one!”

“We are so happy that Annalee is part of our family. She is the sweetest, funniest little girl. We kept her name because she answers to it and also because Annalee is the name of a river in county Cavan Ireland and I always wanted a dog with an Irish name or connection. I think we are meant to be together. It just seems like she fits right in and has always belonged here. I’m attaching some pictures. Please excuse the one in the dress, a friend gave it to us and we just had to take a picture with her in it. I never imagined I’d be someone who dresses up their pet but here I am lol!

“Our dog has settled in pretty well and has quickly found a place in our hearts.  After much deliberation for the week we’ve reached agreement and have changed his name from Wolf to Bowie.  He has enjoyed numerous walks and has met most of the neighbors and their dogs.  We have plans to get him to the vet soon.  I’m not very good with social media but have attached some pictures to this email.  Please thank the foster family and all of the volunteers at TLC for the wonderful care he’s received.  We feel extremely fortunate.”

“Yes, the time’s flown by and I can’t believe that Zoey’s been with us for 7 months now. When she came to us she was a reticent dog who didn’t like to be touched or cuddled and would bare her teeth at the smallest instance. Today, she’s a loving dog who loves to go on car rides, enjoys vanilla ice cream, loves chicken jerky and doesn’t leave my son’s side. We have really been busy over the last few months and in the chaos and our ups and downs she’s helped us stay sane. She’s just wonderful! Here are some pics for you and the amazing TLC team. “Today is Piper’s six month birthday (we think) and we wanted to send an update on how she’s doing!

Piper is now up to 27 pounds, growing long and wide but not very tall

She was originally described to us as “independent and confident” and she has definitely displayed those characteristics at the Agility classes she has been taking at Zoom Room in Philadelphia

Piper is a social butterfly always excited to meet new dogs in the city and to see her normal doggy friends at the local dog parks

Our biggest challenge with Piper has been due to her protective instincts as she is always on alert for strangers walking by – and makes sure that they hear her bark!

We would love to hear about any of Piper’s siblings if you have any updates on them.”

“Endor (FKA Lawler) is doing great. We had a rough start with him, but we found an excellent local trainer, and it’s really helped a lot. Endor has two kids, 5.5 and just-turned 1, and two cats. (We have our hands full!!) Every day he enjoys going to the bus stop to see all of his neighborhood friends; he’s very popular. We’ve even had people stop their cars to ask what he is and where they can get one.

He’s a bit unsure of strangers, especially men, but we’re working on that. He loves to play fetch with a number of frisbees outside and one particular tennis ball inside. He seems to be a water dog; he’s  always digging in his water bowl and playing in our little garden pond. I can’t wait to get him a baby pool.  Right now he’s a very hot puppy with this heat wave. We’re looking forward to hearing about his adorable siblings!”

“Luna is doing great! She’s up to 25 pounds and is extremely intelligent! She is still very wiry of new people and can be a bit protective at times but she has her big bulldog sister to reassure her! The two are always together! She eats like a horse and loves car rides but can’t help but get sick if it’s too long. She LOVES attention and always has to sit right next to you or right on top of you! She learned many of her tricks while she was very young at only 12 weeks! She knows how to shake with each paw, lay, roll over, wave, and dance! She also knows to sit before I open the door outside so that she will never rush out of the house. We went away over the weekend one time so far since we have had Luna and it took her quite a bit to trust the family member we left her with so she takes time to warm up to others when alone with them but she comes around and loves other dogs! She is overall an amazing intelligent dog! We have so happy to have her as a part of our family!  “

“Yes, we are all doing well and McCall and Kors have settled in nicely. We are into a regular routine of going potty and playing outdoors.

My son initially wanted to adopt Versace but he was taken…so he has renamed Kors. He is Versace now but I call him cuddlebug and chunky spunky monkey! He’s full of energy and loves playing with McCall. They play tug of war daily over rope toys, bones and sticks. Versace has a big, loud mouth and when he is sleeping, we whisper and tip toe so we don’t wake him.! He is crate training and learning quickly to hold it until he gets outside. He is a joy!

McCall has also been renamed. He is Bandit now. It is very fitting too! He runs really fast, like a bullet. Versace and Smokey try hard to keep up but bandit leaves them in the dust. Just like the movie characters, we have our own Smokey and the Bandit. Bandit is a sweet heart. He is very curious and enjoys exploring the house and yard. He has boundless energy and loves to get the others to chase him. He is also protective of our home and is quick to bark at anyone passing by our house. He loves to jump on the couch, cuddle up and sleep next to us. I have attached a few pics for you to show their foster Moms.”
