You're a little nervous, you've been going over the script for several weeks, but finally the scene has arrived. The Walking Dead was a great opportunity for you, even though you started in the middle of the show, but you soon fit in with the cast, everyone welcomed you as one of them, they helped you with the complicated scenes.

Your character is part of The Kingdom, at the beginning your character doesn't interact much with Daryl, your affinity is linked to Carol, your first scene together was in Shiva's cage, you were already there and Daryl hides there looking for a moment of solitude, but he is surprised to find you next to the tigress.

The idea of the screenwriters is to form a relationship with you and Daryl, at first you are not convinced, Daryl is a beloved character, but it is not something forced, little by little your bond and your shots together are more frequent and as time goes by, people are comfortable with you around the archer.

Your relationship with Norman developed as slowly as your character's relationship with Daryl. At first you would stand on the sidelines on one side of the table to eat, you would share small conversations with the group, on the other side Norman would talk to Andy and Melissa, he didn't purposely ignore you, he tended to surround himself with the people he knew and felt more comfortable with. But you couldn't help but watch him, you tried to be discreet, you admired from a distance the way he acted, how he took the script and studied it until he became the Daryl he wanted to show the world. As your characters interacted, so did you and little by little you began to trust each other, to spend more time together, you no longer sat on one side of the table, Norman made room for you near his group and even though you all talked, you felt special for being there.

A year ago your character confessed to Daryl, after all the bad things Alexandria and its inhabitants had been through, your character couldn't take it anymore and told Daryl everything she felt. Your characters shared their first on-camera kiss.

It was the first time you kissed Norman.

Since then, a year ago, you feel Norman fooling around with you more evidently than you thought, it was nothing special, he didn't have any magic phrase, or anything like that, Norman is patient, he looks at you, he smiles at you, he jokes and talks to you, he makes it natural, easy and that's what has made you crazy about him.

That's why now you're shaking like a flan.

Your characters' relationship has been well accepted, so the producers want to go a step further and show some intimacy between you and Daryl, they wanted you to have a moment of peace and passion after so much pain and suffering.

The room is set up to shoot the scene, it's the room you share almost from the moment you arrive in Alexandria, when your character gets him to let his guard down. The lighting is dim, it's hot, hotter than it usually is in Georgia, there are several cameras, but you are relatively "alone". Norman appears in the room then dressed in Daryl's clothes, hair disheveled, but he was clean, neat, which was odd to his character, but the producers are excited.

"Alright guys, let's get started, remember, you're the one who starts the action." He looks at you indicating what to do. "We all know Daryl needs that push, take it easy, don't get overwhelmed."

"Okay..." You throat clear and put your script aside then face Norman.

You stare at each other, Norman immediately takes his stance as Daryl, but before you start to speak, he slyly winks at you and your cheeks redden.

"Daryl, stop it." You ask him nervously. "We have peace again." You walk up to him, resting your hands on his shoulders.

"Ya dunno that..." He's changed his voice to the gruff, growling tone so characteristic of Daryl. "What if they come back, what if another Negan shows up, another Alpha...?"

"Stop, no, don't think about that." You hold his face so he'll look at you. "Alexandria is safe again. We can relax, a little, take care of our people... be happy." You whisper without taking your eyes off him.

"Death is still out there..."

"And we'll keep fighting it, but..." You lick your lips, closing your eyes for a moment. Giving it a dramatic touch, remembering your phrases. "I love you, Daryl, I need you here..." You whisper once more and wait.

Norman has a line there, you know it, he has to reciprocate your feelings and then you should make the first move, but Norman says nothing, doesn't move. He bites his lip nervously, hair covering his eyes, avoiding your gaze. Your hands brush his cheeks before resting them on his shoulders again and then you stand on tiptoe, your lips meeting.

It's just a peck, your lips against his, you wanted to break away fast, but you feel his lips move under yours and you freeze. It's just a touch, you feel his lips press against yours, but you forget what you were going to do, your sentence, the kiss is getting long and awkward and uncomfortable. You curse mentally and pull away from him.

"S-sorry, I..." You stammer wanting to stop the scene, but Norman won't let you.

He holds your arm so you don't pull away, he pulls you in, his hand cradles your cheek and his lips trap yours in an intense kiss. TWD 9X5 [What Comes After] Thoughts and Feelings - Late Response.

With things at work being completely crazy, I haven’t had the energy when I get home to work on my breakdown of the show, so this is a little later than I meant to post it (like cutting it close later!). But it’s here and I just have a lot to say about this.

So on my way to work / during work, I was listening to @dynamicsymmetry AKA Sunny and their thoughts on the show. They give a very honest opinion on the show and while I do not always agree with them, they are good to listen to when it comes to me trying to outline what I want to talk about / what I need to think about with this show. So give them a listen! I enjoy their podcast immensely no matter how I agree or disagree with something and to me that’s a good podcast.

So, onto the show.

I’m going to flat out be honest; I did cry. Not like burst into tears crying. But more like I just got emotional. It hit me that even though I knew Rick would be okay (I just knew this wasn’t the end of Rick Grimes because of the way the damn show was advertising it, the constant talk of the bridge, and the whole emotional investigation Rick had to this whole Savior idea AKA we all know that shit needed to be aired out before anything could be done), I wasn’t ready to see his friends and family suffer.

Seeing Michonne have to be restrained – just like she had to do Maggie back at the end of AoW was heartbreaking and it just hit me that the women on this show do not have good luck with loved ones (Or the Gay folks either). Michonne – like a lot of fucking people on this show – has lost a lot. She’s lost two sons – her biological and the son that was also a true friend who helped bring her out of a dark place – and she lost a very close friend – Andrea – and has now lost the man she loves and has only Judith left of anything that brings her close to Carl (since technically Judith is Shane’s… Or maybe not, but that’s what Michonne and Rick believed) and Rick (in spirit!) and it’s just… Maggie’s line about raising a child on your own… Ouch.

Daryl’s reaction killed me more than I thought it would, actually. I was ready to be hurt by Daryl loosing Rick but I wasn’t ready for the pain that gave me that, for a good reason, Daryl is going to never return from this and he is never going to let himself forgive his actions – how he lead Rick so far out even if he didn’t want to hurt Rick it still got him hurt, how he didn’t make Rick get on the fucking bike with him, how the last thing Rick said to him was “You, too” as in you be safe as well… There’s just so much there and the way Norman played that scene – the lip wobble, the complete pain and disbelief, the utter horror – was amazing and beautiful… It was just as heart wrenching as watching him loose it after Merle was found and he had to put him down because that was another brother lost…. Also the look they shared before Rick blew up the bridge like yeah thanks, Rick, Daryl needed that memory too!

Okay! Had to get that out of the way and just say, yes, I had an emotional reaction to the damn “death” even though I smelled and saw that shit coming two thousand million miles away… Sometimes being a theatre and cinema major can just make TV shows not as surprising to watch, ya know?

Now let’s talk about – first – the side story that happened with Maggie and Michonne and Maggie and Negan.

I’ll start with Maggie and Michonne because I loved that scene but there was a part that did actually kind of piss me the fuck off and I’ll explain. First off, you have two very strong characters – two strong women – facing once another with two different choices… But also similar views. We all probably agree that a part of Michonne did believe that, yes, Rick did not have the right to make the final call on Negan. There’s a lot of calls Rick did not have the right to make without coming to an understanding with the others. But I’ll talk about how I’m glad he tried what he did.

So Maggie wants Negan dead because of Glenn. Michonne wanted Negan alive to help Rick honor what Carl wanted. Like Rick, she also couldn’t let go of Carl… But Michonne understood things better and was seeing things better. I really wasn’t surprised when she consented to giving Maggie the key to Negan’s cell. Because as I said, of course she knows what Maggie feels. Because she understands. But she wanted to give this to Rick and to what Carl wanted… But it isn’t up to her or Rick. None of the big choices with the Saviors and Negan should’ve been completely left to Rick.

Michonne steps aside and lets Maggie go… Now I’m okay with that. What I am NOT okay with is the line Maggie has about how she doesn’t know what Glenn would have wanted… That is complete and utter cockadoodle bullshit. Maggie… You are telling me that after all this time, all the private moments, all your memories with Glenn… That you don’t know what kind of person, what kind of choices, Glenn would make? Because I fucking know. I believe Glenn would not want you to kill someone in cold revenge and blood. And fuck off everyone who says “Well Glenn was gonna try to kill the Governor to get revenge for what he did to him and Maggie-“ NO. Shush. Yes, Glenn was in a dark place at that point… But Glenn DID NOT do it. Why? Because Hershel snapped him the fuck out of it and Glenn pulled himself out of that dark hole the rest of the way to be there for Maggie. He thought of her and his family before making a choice to back off. So yes, Glenn had his rage out moment. But he still chose to be bigger than his revenge and anger. Which is what I believe Glenn would’ve wanted for Maggie. “Maggie, I’ll find you” wasn’t just Glenn’s last words of “I’ll see you in the afterlife”. It was “I’ll find you in spirit and be with you and help you in your dark times”. That’s what that line spoke to me as Glenn was dying. That’s his final words to Maggie and I think, while tragic, it’s beautiful… So Maggie, dude, you KNOW what Glenn would’ve wanted and it’s bullshit for you to say otherwise.

I’m not gonna talk too much about the Negan VS Maggie shit, but I have seen people saying “he only said that because it’s what Maggie wants and he’s manipulating her” and… Yeah. A part of me agrees with it… But I also think not. Negan at that moment was still not completely in his head because of Michonne revealing what happened to “Lucille” AKA the bat. I believe that a part of Negan is a little unbalanced right now. But I believe he’s not so totally out of it that he can’t try to manipulate a situation. That’s something they told us. Negan is a manipulative person. That’s how he was in the comics and that’s how he is in the show. He manipulated the others to follow his way. He manipulated Rick. He tried to manipulate Daryl with psychological torture with Dwight. That’s what Negan does… So while I believe he was genuine in his “kill me”, I also believe a part of it was a manipulation to Maggie. I wouldn’t put it past his character.

I know a lot of people wanted Maggie to kill Negan but I’m glad she didn’t for her human side. I don’t really mind Negan. He’s just kind of a villain that is there for me… But I’m also glad because it gives us a chance to have this interesting choice of Judith being the one to become his new youthful communication with the outside world instead of Carl as it was in the comics… I’ll get more into that in a bit.

Now for Rick’s scenes. First off, I didn’t watch any spoilers for this episode because I wanted to be spoil free for Andy’s big moment here… And when Rick pulls his body off that slab, I about gagged. Not because it was gross, because God knows we’ve seen nastier shit on this show… But because I have never heard Rick in that much pain on the show. The pure scream of grief and agony and pain choked at me because goddamn you could FEEL that rod in his side as he pulled himself off it. That was amazing and I was there in pain with Rick. Plus getting to see him struggle to climb that horse (Rick, stay the fuck away from horse’s dude) and leave that blood on it’s pure white coloring was so… Beautiful and tragic looking.

Let’s start with the first visit. His iconic image of riding into Atlanta on his horse, an image so popular they used it to promote the show in season one and played it heavily in the trailers because of how surreal it was to the audience back then. It’s still one of my favorite TWD images honestly. And having Rick once again trotting down the road into the city was a nice little nudge… But also an interesting start for him to meet up with Shane again.

So before I get into Shane, we have three big scenes with Rick. His ride into Atalanta and running into Shane and the flipped over car. Ending up back on the farm, in the walker barn, with Hershel. Exiting the hospital hallway and stepping out into a sea of dead bodies and running into Sasha… The transition of these scene and the set up of them interests me because… They’re kind of out of order. Now of course we had the scene of Rick looking at his younger self in the hospital and looking outside and seeing birds turn into helicopters, so technically we have four big scenes with run ins with different characters. Because, yes, Season 1 Rick is not Season 9 Rick… But it’s the order that surprises me.

Twice Rick is back in Atlanta. Twice he in the hospital area. If you go in order, it should be Rick with Shane in the patrol car, Rick in the hospital, Rick going to Atlanta, and then making it to the farm. Now of course this is a fever dream so suspense of reality but I’m just fascinated that they even had Rick going to Atlanta… Because it really served no purpose. Twice.

We see Atlanta outside the window of the hospital room and then Rick is walking to Atlanta but he had no reason to be in Atlanta… Maybe if he had imagined Merle (Don’t see why the fuck he would since him and Merle were far from close) or maybe the time he met Glenn, then yeah I could understand the walk to Atlanta… But literally he’s in Atlanta and then he’s in the car with Shane in the field where he got shot… So I don’t fully understand why his brain kept taking him to Atlanta. Yes it’s where it started… But it didn’t serve anything in the fever dream… Again it’s a fever dream so it doesn’t necessarily need to mean anything but from a psychological stand point and from a viewers eyes and someone who studies film and scripts, I have to wonder why they wanted to showcase Atlanta so much… It just seems… Random. It’s really not but in some ways it is. Hmm…

But back to Shane. First off, I love Shane. He’s a complete asshole scumbag and he’s a nasty dude, but I really just was so happy when I heard we were gonna see Shane. I missed seeing Jon Bernthal outside of The Punisher and Daredevil honestly and plus, Shane was a big changing moment for Rick. Shane brought out just what Rick would do for his family. He made a choice and took down someone that was dangerous to Rick himself and the people around him. But also, it was a big change for Daryl and Rick to in terms of Daryl taking over as Rick’s right hand man and brought them closer. It’s also the big choice that put Rick in charge fully. He didn’t ask for it. It just… happened. Shane is the one who pushed Rick into this role. I believe that fully… That and I just always believed that the Sheriff in Rick was always geared to try and take over in situations. I work with our county Sheriff and I can honestly say that he would definitely try to take over as a leader in a live or die situation. So I think that was always in Rick. He’s not a good one by any means. But he is a leader type.

So at the farm, I was so emotional because seeing Scott Wilson made my heart swell and cry. RIP to this amazing character and to this amazing man that all I’ve heard is genuine love and appreciation for him from others around him and that makes me so happy that he got to have this final scene and moment with Andy and the show and as Hershel… But I will say, seeing him clean shaven again threw me off because no matter how I visualize Hershel, he still has his Santa beard lol. But they say in Heaven you’re younger looking and I thought he did look younger there so maybe he was Angel Hershel coming down to reach out to Rick (I don’t know if that’s what they were going for but it is what I felt and saw).

Anyway, Hershel shows up and has Rick look out across the land from the barn and Rick breaks down with apologies for what happened to him. But not just him. He apologizes for his family in general.

Rick: I'm so sorry for what happened to you. To Beth and Glenn. For everything Maggie's lost. Hershel: Rick. Rick: Maybe if I tried harder, done things different, listened more Hershel: My girl, she's strong, and my grandson, he'll only make her stronger.

Now of course it made me smile to hear Rick say Beth and Glenn’s name because it’s important that he acknowledge that he let these characters down. I do believe that Beth could be alive, there’s no hiding that I do… But even if she isn’t, it’s been a long time since we’ve heard Beth’s name and hearing that made me smile and sigh because it’s something.

This whole scene with Hershel was beautiful in that it was Rick talking to his heart. Hershel was his heart while Shane was Rick’s drive to make the heavy discussions – his strength. Hershel taught Rick that you still have to have heart in this world because you can’t just rely on physical strength alone. That’s what Hershel was for Rick. His heart and faith and this peaceful talk in the barn was just so heartwarming to me. I’m very happy for it.

So now for the scene that everyone was ready for and a scene from the comic covers… Rick in the field of bodies. So Rick ends up back in the hallway of the hospital he woke up in. Instead of running away from the chained door, he goes to the chained door… Which instead of reading “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” it reads “Don’t Open, Dead Outside”. Rick opens the door and outside we just see bodies upon bodies. Around Rick’s feet are the dead. Around his feet are the dead bodies of his family and friends.

Interestingly, this is where people from TD jerked up because we get a shot… of Beth. Of course it’s not Emily Kinney, it’s a stand in (I’m thinking she couldn’t come on due to maybe some scheduled conflict or something) and she’s wearing the yellow polo with blood all over her arm and none on the back of her head.

So here’s my bit of TD for you. One, I think the blood on her arm is from Daryl shooting Dawn. Dawn fell near or on top of Beth’s body when Daryl shot her. The way she jerks and falls down makes me think she fell on Beth… And the blood we see in the last shot of Beth’s hand, is Dawn’s blood. The shot we see of the blood pooling by Beth is Dawn’s since one, her body fell forward and when you have a massive head wound and lean forward, blood pools out (I have confirmation from my father whose head was split open after he was run over by a four-wheeler and the hole was big enough for my grandfathers hand to fit straight down without touching either side... A lot of blood pulled out every time he leaned forward or took a step).

Two, she’s not wearing the sweater and is just in the polo shirt and… Rick never saw Beth wearing just the polo shirt. I’m pretty sure the last time he saw Beth before the exchange, Beth was wearing the dirty grayish blue tank top over the yellow tank top thing and her jeans and boots… And when Daryl carried Beth out / during the exchange, Beth was wearing the gray button up sweater with the yellow polo underneath… So where is the sweater? Also, interestingly, Sasha is wearing the outfit she wore in S4. Daryl is wearing the outfit for season 9, Maggie from season 8 I believe, and Jesus season six and seven… Basically everyone is in different states of dress from different seasons and it’s interesting to me because for some that’s how Rick first saw them or how he sees them now… Or how he remembers them in general like with Sasha. Everyone except for Beth… Because Rick never saw her wearing just the polo shirt…

Now I’m thinking “Listen, Linds, this doesn’t mean anything”… But it’s a costume choice. This is the outfit they chose to put Beth – the stand in – in and it’s not an outfit Rick last saw her in or even knows… Also, the blood on Beth’s arm – on her right arm – is also the same side Rick was bleeding on and where all the blood was coming from.

Also, like everyone else, I did notice that she didn’t have her head wound… Now that doesn’t throw me off that much because like Sunny said in their podcast, everyone does look peaceful and a lot of them do have blood on them… But it is fascinating that Maggie and Beth have blood on them – we can see it. I don’t see any on Daryl or Carol. There’s a smudge on Jesus’s forehead to the left…. But I don’t see any on anyone else that’s team family… Which is interesting because Maggie is basically gonna be M.IA. for the rest of the season, Beth is considered dead, and it’s been rumored that Jesus is going to be dead (I don’t think he’s gonna die but I do think he’s going to disappear for a bit).

So little shit like that caught my eye and was fascinating to me…

On to Sasha! So am I the only one that was fascinated that it was Sasha standing up from the bodies… When back in I think S5, Sasha was killing walkers and then laying in a hole with them… She was laying among the dead. Now she’s standing among the dead with Rick in his fever dream… I thought that was kind of a nice little opposite parallel to how Sasha was then to how she is for Rick here… Plus I just was happy to see her. People seem to forget that Maggie isn’t the only one who lost someone she loved… Sasha had lost Abraham. Rosita lost Abe a long time ago and sure it hurt her and she she still deeply cared about him when he was killed, but Sasha loved Abe and Abe loved Sasha and she lost him and that really hurt her… So seeing her speak such hopeful, peaceful things to Rick… It was where Sasha was always trying to be with Bob and then later with Abe; at peace. It’s Sasha taking on the side that Tyreese was always trying to teach her to be and I think that’s beautiful.

BUT Like a lot of people and like Sunny said… I was surprised. I was expecting Glenn… And the stuff Sasha was saying is stuff I would expect to have Glenn say to Rick. So I agree with Sunny on that and kinda have to ponder if Steven Yeun simply couldn’t come/didn’t want to come or if they really just had Sonequa in mind… Also! I’m a little frustrated we didn’t get to see Carl or Lori. I mean I’m glad Rick saw Michonne but Lori and Carl were his family too, dammit.. I get it. The actors probably couldn’t/didn’t want to but… I don’t know, I wish we could’ve seen more characters from Rick’s past (I’m telling you, if Rick had seen Merle I would be cackling cause you know he’d say “Officer Friendly” to him lol) like Andrea or even Jim would’ve been interesting since that’s the first victim Rick had to leave behind/couldn’t really help you know? Or even seeing a flash of Sophia – the Barn scene was there but Sophia was also a big moment for Rick – would’ve been interesting… I just feel they missed a chance to really dig at Rick’s past. But I’m also aware they might not have been able to so… Yeah.

Now… I want to jump to the time jump. First off, I’m not sure exactly how many years have passed… Between season eight and none, it was said a year and six months – by Maggie – had passed since Glenn died… The AoW took place over about a week or two so… Yeah about eighteen months… So Judith had to be another year older, give or take… Now she’s supposed to be around ten years old (as stated by many articles) – similar age to how old Carl was in the comics (I believe he was 9 in the beginning) – and that means that she was around four/five when Rick died and that means that it’s been about five/six years later by the end of the episode…

First off, Judith Grimes is wearing the Sheriff hat (A symbol for Carl and Rick), has Rick’s gun (wonder if they found it among the rubble of the bridge looking for something of him), a katana (to represent Michonne), but did you all see that she is wearing a purple plaid shirt… Which is what Lori wore in many of her season photos and in the show… So they have Judith paying tribute to Carl, Rick, Michonne, and her biological mother Lori… Now we just need her to rub her head a lot and she can be showing signs of Shane (I kid I kid LOL!).

Is it a bit fanservice? Of fucking course it is… But who cares? This is a zombie show. I stopped caring about realistic shit forever ago with this show lol. Plus I kind of like it. It makes sense for Judith to be… Well, kind of a little asskicker. First off, that’s a tribute to Daryl nicknaming her that. Plus this is a child that completely grew up in this kind of world. Carl was still old enough to remember the old world. Judith only knows this world. It makes sense to me that she’d be more “adjusted” than anyone on this show. You grow as your environment allows and this is the world Judith knows… SO I’m okay with her being a little fanservice like… Now I just need to hear her call Daryl “Uncle Daryl” please!

And… I am beyond fascinated by her taking Carl’s roll to talk to Negan. To seem to have formed some kind of semi-comfortable relationship to Negan of all people… Think about it. Negan, the man who once had a Harem and who tried to kill her family, becoming some kind of associate to Judith is fascinating... It’s very similar to Carl in the comics (not completely since Carl was pretty vicious in the comics and Judith doesn’t seem vicious to me… yet) so… I’m very curious about this. Because Negan in the comic does a few things to try and make Carl trust him and even considers Carl a friend… I wont spoil that for those that haven’t read it but man I’m so so so interested to see where they take Judith’s character now that she’s older (Plus, hello, she’s played by Baby Rey! I may not be the biggest fan of the new Sta Wars movies but I did like Rey enough that I perked up when I saw it was Cailey Fleming… I can’t wait to watch this little girl get to grow her acting chops on the show).

So overall for the episode as a whole… It was a good episode. I’m heartbroken that Daryl has been off on his own in the woods in a crappy tent for the last five-six years but hey, least he gets a dog… That’s nice. I’m interested to see the new folks (especially Magna and Yumiko… Honestly, I’m excited for Connie and Kelly too because in the comics Connie isn’t deaf and Kelly in the comics was a male and Connie was his girlfriend… So they’re going way different here and I love it) and I’m VERY intrigued by the fact they’re focusing on Radio signals and reaching out to new people again.

Tonight’s episode is going to be fun, I think. I’m ready to see how everything is after the time jump and how they explain somethings and what’s changed.

Reveling in Richonne

122: The I Love You’s (8x14)

First of all…

I have so been looking forward to breaking down this solid gold moment right here. Cuz y’all, it’s everything. 🙌🏾 So you already know I have to happy dance in advance lol.

Wait it’s still not out of my system. 😋

(Side note: I’m already extra when it comes to even their smallest moments so this is about to be extra x10. So thank you for putting up with me lol 🙏🏽😂 And this post is particularly long (cuz of course), so I’ll spare your TL with this one 👌🏽😊)

Lemme tell you, every time I see or even just remember this moment I cannot help but react to it with the same high energy I had when I first saw it. This moment gives me complete and utter joy and it also really moves me, so this will always be me when it comes to this scene…

Cuz y’all...they said it!! 🎉Won’t He Do It! Yes He Will! All the time! Forever and Ever! Amen. 🙌🏾😌🙌🏾��

And I love that while it was a big celebratory moment for us, it was such a normal thing for them. All the way here for it. 👌🏽😊

It’s funny cuz I generally avoid spoilers but, the week before, I had been hearing murmerings that 8x14 might be the episode where they say it, and just the mere notion of that had me turning up. So literally the whole episode I was just waiting and watching like...

Cuz ever since I boarded this ship the thought of what those “I love you’s” would be like and when they would come was on my mind often. And we finally got to see it! And of course Danai and Andy knocked it out of the park. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

But first, to back track just a little bit, in the few moments prior we see Carol open up to Ezekiel about her daughter.

(Side note: I wish Carol and Michonne would talk more. They’re different in a lot of ways but also have a lot of similarities too. Like in Carol’s conversation with Ezekiel she shares about how these people helped her find a better version of herself and that’s the case for Michonne as well.👌🏽)

The main reason I bring up this moment tho, is because, when they cut to the wider shot, Carol and Ezekiel are holding hands which is sweet, and what I love most about it is that you can see Michonne sitting in the background, almost center with the hand hold. And y’all that’s not a coincidence. 💯

How did Richonne’s romantic relationship start? With a glorious hand hold. 🙌🏾😋 And it’s cool that we get some parallel to R&M’s 6x10 moment in the same episode that we get to witness another long awaited exchange. 😊 (And this also sort of suggests that Carol and Ezekiel might be joining the couples club that I think only Rick and Michonne are in rn.)

But seeing Michonne sitting alone made me kind of sad too cuz it makes me think about how she would totally be spending that time with Carl if he was there (or Rick if he wasn’t out wildin 🙃)

So they hear the gate open and then Michonne springs up cuz she knows her man has come home, which is probably a big relief for her, knowing his recent inclinations to leave and get himself in serious predicaments.

My favorite thing about seeing Michonne spring up like this is cuz, as many have pointed out, it’s so reminiscent to when Rick heard her arriving at the gate in the season 4 premiere. Y’all their magnetic connection is still going strong all these seasons. 😊

So then Rick and Morgan walk in looking like two bad kids who can solemnly swear they’ve been up to no good. 😂

And when Michonne sees him, she has a look that says she’s both relieved and also that she can tell her man has likely spent the day wildin all the way out.

Morgan walks up to Henry and tells him he was able to kill the Savior who killed his brother. And rather than relish the vengeance, Henry actually expresses sympathy that Morgan had to kill again and he tells him sorry.

And then I get hit hard upon hearing Morgan tell Henry “Don’t ever be sorry” cuz it’s exactly what Morgan told Carl back in “Clear.” 😭

I’m always here for a “Clear” reference in this show even tho it’s also a heartbreaking reminder that Carl isn’t there anymore. (And I hope this show knows that in no way will Henry be a legitimate replacement, so TWD don’t try to make fetch happen. Just saying.)

So while that’s going on, Rick is walking towards the main house and people are looking at him cuz Homeboy def looks like he’s been suspect. And he’s just sort of looking right back at people like “Say something, I dare you.” 😅

One person he doesn’t look at tho is Michonne and y’all I admit I was not feeling that. I was like; Rick don’t you walk past your girl without acknowledging her in some way. Like I know he’s in a daze and probably feeling guilty but at least nod or something bruh, especially after likely making her stressed all day about where he went.

As he walks away, Michonne watches him go and they emphasize her having this look.

Seeing this reaction from her briefly made me worried that maybe this show was heading towards another moment of distance between them or even disappointment cuz tbh Michonne wouldn’t be out of line if she did feel a little disappointed. So at first, when it came to where they stand, I was like…

But the thing is, Sis is so understanding and the epitome of a great wife so any worry that maybe this was going to cause an issue between them was quickly dispelled in the final scene of the episode.

So now onto the scene that has kept me on cloud nine for months. ☺️Lol. Lemme get prepared.

The scene starts with Rick walking into their room seeming freshly showered, and I love that there seems to be this comfortability with him returning to him and his woman’s room. Like I think they have him enter the scene this way to hit home that this is Rick at the most settled he’s been in a while.

And it’s significant to see him putting on a clean white tee cuz it really does feel like it’s meant to imply a clean slate as well as the lighter side he’s coming back to. He’s leaning into the good again, (now that he’s gotten some of the savagery out of his system lol)

Also I love that there’s this candlelight glow that’s totally paralleling the precious candlelit dinner proposal scene in 7x12. 🙌🏾 I think having that similar glow going just helps to set the tone that he’s more in that 7x12 headspace again, rather than the headspace we saw in the dive bar.

We then see Rick have a visible moment where he knows this is the time to open his letter, like his North Star told him to in this very room earlier in the episode. Everything that’s happened today has shown him that now is the time to stop running. So he goes to the drawer and takes out the letter.

So then, Michonne walks in and stops at the doorway and this whole moment is super similar to the scene earlier. Cuz just like Rick walked in and found Michonne holding her letter near the dresser, Michonne walks in to find Rick holding his letter in the same spot.

Their reactions are different tho cuz where Rick saw her holding the letter and felt a sense of fear and anxiety, Michonne sees him holding the letter and you can tell there’s a sense of relief.

Like she definitely seems a little surprised too with finding Rick right there with the letter, but also happy that whatever he did outside the walls led to the letter and not more suppressing or running from coping.

So the first thing Rick says is “Thank you.” And Rick is a real one for knowing he needs to thank her. And I love how Rick so often says thank you to Michonne in this series cuz Homeboy knows he’s with a queen and he’s grateful. 😊

Now, you know my extra self had to really reflect on what each line of dialogue meant in this scene, and to me Rick’s thank you was for her getting him to see the light slowly but surely, and for fighting for Carl and for himself, for being by his side this whole time, for loving him, and sharing with him, and for everything she is. 👌🏽😊

It was also thanking her for being patient as he took a little detour to where she knew he needed to be. But I think most of all, at the root, this is Rick telling her thank you for not giving up on me. 💯

I love how it’s so visible that a weight is taken off Michonne when he says this cuz it lets her know that he’s in a much better clearer space than before. She was carrying so much for the both of them, to the point that I was like Sis is overdue for a shoulder to cry on, but in hearing and seeing Rick like this, some of that load on her is lightened.

What I adore most about this moment is the way they both take this deep breath when he says this. They are legitimately one and so in sync. 😍🙌🏾

In seeing that Rick is in a clearer headspace she knows they’re making some progress and it’s a relief that he’s more present and stable cuz again, if he’s okay she’s okay and you see that in the synchronicity of their body language.

They both seem to just loosen up due to knowing/sensing that they’re a little more centered than earlier. It’s not that all their external problems are gone, but they’re centered with one another, which is enough to make them feel a lot better. 💯

I love that seeing he’s okay means the world to Michonne and in both of them taking this breath it reminds me of the moment in This Is Us where they all take a deep breath to take a step towards releasing the pain of their loss. As TIU said, when you don’t deal with your grief it’s like your holding your breath, so it’s big for R&M to be able to take this breath together.

The next thing he tells her is “I’m sorry” and I was very proud of Rick for telling her that.

Like hearing him apologize had me like…

And to me, the sorry was for the way he’s been running from her and the pain, for not being there for her the way she’s been there for him, for leaving and putting himself in harms way, and doing the opposite of what she and Carl wanted, for letting irrational Rick dictate his actions and not the Rick that knows to listen to her, and for distancing himself when he knows that’s not the way they are meant to be.

Rick knows he owes her better cuz in all this grief he has every right to wrestle with it but again, when it comes to Michonne he also has every responsibility to be there for her too, for so many reasons.

To name one, he wanted her in season four to continue this bond with Carl and she did and they became best friends so she opened her heart so fully to Carl and raised him with Rick, so Rick knows that as the husband he has to walk with her in this, and he’s apologizing for not doing that fully.

But Michonne stays out here teaching how to be a great wife cuz with so much love and compassion she tells him “You don’t have to be.”

I love this. 👏🏽😊 Cuz it’s not that she’s just passively letting Rick slide, she just understands that since they can’t reverse the past, all they can do is move forward, learn from it, and be better. And this is her way of showing she’s still here for him and they can be better together.

And I feel like in her telling him he doesn’t have to be sorry it’s not just her saying you don’t have to be sorry for what you did (cuz y’all Michonne and Rick are cut from the same cloth so she can understand what he did cuz she’s capable of going ham on the Saviors like that too) but it’s also saying you don’t have to be in a sorry state forever.

I appreciate that she chooses not to linger on this or reprimand him and make this cause a wedge. Also probably part of why she feels he doesn’t have to be sorry is because she knows his grieving journey has finally led him to the letter, which is where the healing process will begin.

She wants him to know he doesn’t have to be sorry for his grieving process cuz she knows this specific process very well considering she’s experienced it twice now. I love that she understands him so fully and so deeply and more than anyone else I think Rick has ever come across. 🙏🏽😊

Cuz low key someone who wasn’t his soul mate might not have had a response like “You don’t have to be” when he apologizes but more like “you better be”, but Rick’s got himself the best of the best who supports him through literally thick and thin. 👏🏽👸🏾

Rick seems to often be waiting for someone to tear him down or doubt him or be disappointed in him (probably cuz of his past) but she never does. 🙌🏾

Michonne always uplifts him and this moment was yet another way of saying “I’m still with you” and you know Sis always means it. 😌

So after she tells him this, Rick faces her and finally really looks at her with clear eyes again and it makes all the difference. He’s got himself the best wife and he knows it. Cuz she’s so compassionate and understanding and just genuinely wants the best for him without judgment. At the same time she’s not passive and naïve, she knows what’s up but she always chooses to see the man over the mistakes. #RealLove 👌🏽

And then comes the words we’ve been waiting for. Cuz Rick turns and faces Michonne and with the sweetest sincerity says, “I love you.”

Every. Last. Thing.

That “I love you” was a reminder and a promise that, as much as his whole world has changed, his love for her hasn’t. It’s still there and going strong. 💕

I appreciate that he turns to face her more head on when he says this cuz he wants it to be crystal clear that he means this. We’ve seen that when he’s not being totally honest he can’t really look at people, but here he looks right in her eyes cuz this is the 100% truth. 💯😊

I said in the last post how I was nervous that because this episode tried to make Rick’s word seem like it was questionable that they’d want this scene to be interpreted as questioning if Rick’s words are sincere or just manipulative, but all you have to do is see his face to know he’s serious.

He’s looking at her the way he looks at her when he’s in his right mind, which is like she’s his sun, moon, and stars. ☺️

And y’all, when he says this it came out so effortlessly that I had to pause cuz it was so clear that not only was this not the first time he’s said this but it was very clear that Homeboy has told her plenty of many of times. 👏🏽😊

Before this episode, I was thinking they’ve said it before but of course Andrew Lincoln found a way to deliver this line in a way where it sounds like this is something Rick says all the time. 😋

But it still feels really special and significant this time, because while I feel this totally isn’t their first, second, or even tenth time exchanging “I love you’s”, I think this may be their first time saying it since losing Carl, which is why it’s so meaningful and a milestone, cuz it’s showing they’re back to telling each other what’s always been true.

And after seeing this so many times, I’ve come to like the sort of melodic way he says it cuz there’s something so tender about it.

Also it’s sweet that he nods when he says it cuz this isn’t meant to be angsty, it’s supposed to be more like he’s saying; “you know that thing I tell you all the time? It’s still true” And it never stopped being true, he’s just now in a healthy spot to tell her again. 😌👌🏽

And once he says that, Michonne then completes this perfection by telling him, “I love you too”

And I gotta happy dance one more again.

But for real, her delivery of that line was beautiful. 😭 It was so sincere and meaningful while also sounding comfortable and certain.

And there’s definitely something emotional in her delivery because they’re expressing this sentiment post-Carl, but there’s also such a sense that this is so normal and natural for them.

Danai is so good at communicating so much in just a facial expression but also in just a tone of voice like this moment here. 👸🏾

And I love that Michonne got to say I love you to both Carl and Rick in 8B. They’re family. 😭💕

Now as I was first taking this all in, I was like why didn’t they show Michonne’s face as she said that (cuz y’all my extra self would have wanted a split screen so I could see both of their every move in real time lol 😂)

But what works about doing it this way is that it just goes to show that those three words are so normal for her to hear and say that it didn’t need this reveal of her reaction. She said it like she means it and like she knows he means it too cuz he’s said it fourteen thousand times before. 😋

And Richonne tones for the win, y’all. Like the way they speak to each other is always so loving and genuine and melts my heart. 🙌🏾

Lol so if my heart turned into Simone Biles, and I’ve only been waiting like two years for this, I can only imagine how gratifying this moment must’ve been for those that had been waiting for this since season 3 and 4.

Like y’all have been going strong for this couple for years and that allowed people like me to jump on board down the line to see what’s always been there between them. So I was celebrating not just for me but for y’all who believed this day would come as early as the moment R&M laid eyes on each other. 😊 And y’all were so right. Won’t He Do It! 🙌 🏾😋

And I love that this moment had so many of us like...

So while I still would have loved to see Michonne’s reaction, I do love that we get to see Rick’s reaction to her.

Rick nods when she tells him, cuz she’s told him this plenty of many of times too. Amen. 🙌🏾☺️

And y’all I already adored this scene and watched it a ton of times lol, but I never noticed, until I saw it pointed out recently, that Rick actually subtly sheds a tear when she tells him she loves him.

And seeing that has me even more emotional than I already was. 😭

It makes this moment even more moving because even tho these “I love you’s” are not some new profession for them, it still means the world to them. 😊

And I think for Rick to hear his woman so genuinely express that she loves him too, it moves him in this way because he’s reminded yet again that he still has extremely valuable love left in his life.

After losing Carl, he’d been convincing himself that he’s a failure. But Michonne is here and showing him that he’s still loved, and seen, and cared about, and forgiven, and believed in, and that hits home for Rick and makes him really grateful. 😊

Y’all we really are so blessed that this relationship is in such capable hands with these actors. They’re so skilled at making these moments feel so authentic and personal because they’re characters are so lived in and it really does feel like we’re getting just a peek into the deep closeness and intimacy R&M have in everyday life. It makes you feel like it’s too personal to have an audience almost, but it’s perfect. 😌👌🏽

Like every night since 6x10, R&M get ready to go to bed in a room they share and this is how they talk, except more weighted this time given the circumstances.

I appreciate that they’re also so in tune with the characters so they knew to play this moment as meaningful but also casual because it’s a sentiment often expressed between them. They don’t just know they love each other, they clearly tell each other often too. ☺️

8x01, 7x16, 7x12, 7x10, 7x09, 7x08, 7x05, 7x04, 6x11, and even as early as the day they went canon in 6x10; those are all the episodes where I love you’s could totally have been exchanged. Here for it. 😋

And y’all I have to have my reoccurring epiphany that this is Rick and Michonne. The Rick and Michonne that met at that fence, and constantly found themselves staring each other down when they were just strangers in season 3.

The Rick and Michonne who were glad to see each other at the gate in season 4. The Rick and Michonne who knew the rules had changed for them in season 5. The Rick and Michonne who just needed a pair of mints to finally embrace the fact that they were in love in season 6. And now we’re here. It’s a blessing. 🙌🏾🎉

I love thinking about any Richonne scene prior, especially pre-canon, and then thinking about this glorious “I love you” scene following it. Cuz y’all these two have been expressing “I love you’s” to each other in so many different ways for the longest. And it’s just so great to get crystal clear undeniable confirmation that their journey, starting way back in season, 3 was about these two falling in love and now being this strong couple in love. 🙌🏾😌

My favorite is thinking about their moment in the season three finale which parallels this one. In both scenes Rick apologizes and she’s understanding, but in s3 he tells her that it “must’ve been something else” that led him to bring her in. And now in s8 we can pretty much confirm that the “something else” was cuz Homeboy was falling in love. 🙌🏾🎉

Y’all there’s just no denying that what these two have is the real deal. It’s crazy tho cuz even now, with the literal ILYs having been said, there’s people who still completely overlook their relationship or “don’t see the chemistry” or don’t get that Michonne and Rick are a soul mate package deal relationship, which just confirms that…

And again, I acknowledge that everyone absolutely has a right to their opinion on it. 👌🏽 But imho, if people can’t see that Rick and Michonne’s relationship is a soul mate relationship now, then it’s cuz they don’t want to see it since in every scene Rick and Michonne are in the “I love you” is evident.

Whether it’s in action or in different words, and now in those exact special three words. They are in love. And they are going to stay in love til the end. 💯

So to the people who specifically hate on them, I low key feel like this scene was also a way to say…

But regardless of who’s on board, Richonne only gets stronger and stronger and better and better, so it’s all good.

And y’all the scene doesn’t just end with the I love you’s! There’s more gold to witness. 🙌🏾

Cuz after they share these wonderful words, Michonne goes to Rick and reaches for him cuz he can finally receive it, in fact he needs that.

The way he looks down before she walks over, I feel like Rick doesn’t think she’s about to kiss him, probably cuz he still doesn’t think he deserves that.

But again, Michonne quiets those doubts in him and gives him the love and connection they both need and y’all it’s beyond precious. 🙌🏾

Like this reminded me of one of Richonne’s most life-giving moments with the Kiss of Life in 7x05, in the way Michonne reaches for him and reminds him why he’s got a bomb ride or die wife. 👸🏾

I love that they’re able to share this kiss and just be completely enraptured in this moment. And you can tell they’ve both been wanting to connect this way for a while. 😊

And that mirror showing us all the angles. 👌🏽That mirror is a Richonner and I’m here for it. 😋

And then the looks they share tho…like y’all this love goes deep. ☺️And it’s great how Richonne can’t help but do everything passionately when they’re with each other. 👏🏽

And then the forehead touch, making them like a perfect heart, is such a beautiful establishment of the strong unit they are and the way they lean on each other and are magnetically connected. This right here is unbreakable. 😌💯

To see them both just be fully locked into this moment and not fight the connection their meant to have is so refreshing. 🙌🏾😊 #magnets

And seeing them in front of this whole mirror is def meant to contrast the broken mirror Rick was in at the bar. In the broken mirror he was alone and troubled, but here he is focused and with the woman that’s his rock so he’s much more whole.

Even during their distance in 8x13, I knew we wouldn’t have to wait long until they were back in each other’s arms, and just an episode later they’re right back where they’re meant to be. 👌🏽

So then, still so close and connected, they both look over at this letter and it’s kind of like these two are looking at Carl in a way.

And it’s deep cuz Carl really was their North Star and such a driving force for these two as individuals. But he still is their North Star because he helped to give them each other, which is how they are able to get through this. 😭

Rick lifts the letter to imply he’s ready to take her words to heart and read it. And Michonne walks away cuz she wants to allow him time to fully take this in on his own.

Before leaving, she looks at him in a way that says; alright it’s time to take this leap, no more running and once you jump I’ll be right there with you. 👌🏽😊

And having gotten his strength from his everything, he’s able to sit and finally let Carl speak to him one last time, cuz I think part of him knows now that Carl won’t end with that letter.

Like Glenn said; the dead live on in the living. So Carl lives on in Judith and in him and in the woman he’s in love with especially, Michonne. So long as they have each other and love each other, they’ll never lose Carl. 😌

Before Rick reads the letter, he looks up and it’s like he’s trying to look up towards Carl cuz now the roles are switched and Rick has to look up to his son.

This episode concludes with Rick reading the letter and emotionally taking in the words. It’s clear this whole scene is not to suggest that Rick is continuing to be jaded, but to show he’s rising above that unhealthy space.

He’s open to the letter, he’s opening up to Michonne again and focusing on what he loves over what he hates, cuz real Rick is returning.

Y’all love covers a multitude of sins and, while TWD does not get a pass for all the baffling dumb decisions made this season, those “I love you’s” def sustained me for a good while lol.

That day was Easter, it was I Love You’s, it was a good celebratory day.👌🏽😊

And this special moment between Rick and Michonne was such a beautiful way to end the episode, having that moment be the final thing. It just goes to show how Richonne only get stronger and closer through adversity. They endure things that should break them, but together they’re stronger than all of it and they always find their way back to each other.

So I truly adore this scene for giving us the golden “I love you’s” and for showing us how lovingly and authentically they’ve found their way back to each other after the hardest adversity yet. And as long as they have each other they’ll thrive, because they are really and truly soul mates. 💯☺️

Rick and Michonne need each other, y’all. And they’re perfect together. And most importantly, they love each other.👌🏽😌🎉🙌🏾

So I feel like I should already know the answer to this but what came first, your love for Andy or your love for TWD? Did you start watching because of him?

Haha, I don’t think I’ve really talked about this much before, so you’re good. But definitely my love for TWD came first. I only knew of Andy from Love Actually, and I absolutely didn’t recognize him in this. I remember seeing the commercials for the show while watching Mad Men/Breaking Bad and thinking he was kind of cute. (It was always that scene of him stumbling through the hospital doors, lol.) So after three seasons, I finally gave it a try and at some point watching season two, I looked him up because I got the feeling he was British. I was shocked to find out he was Mark, lol.

So I think it was season 4 when I genuinely started liking Rick (by way of Richonne, tbh) and between 4A and 4B, I started looking up interviews with the cast. This is probably the first interview I watched, and also when I fell in love. 😄☺️

Season 8 Caryl

So The Walking Dead season 8 premiere is in less than two weeks (9 days, holy crap!), and I figured I’d give in my two cents on the potential for some Carylness during the premiere as well as the entire season.

Speculation below the cut:

I’ve always hated the last few weeks before premieres to be honest. We get all of these reviews from various magazines and news sources about episode one, and it can cause some major stress leading up to it for people who actually read them. But unfortunately, at the end of the day, whether or not the episode is good is always arbitrary. Same thing with Caryl moments.

We know from TSDF page that Carol and Daryl share a hug and a brief conversation during the premiere, so there’s definitely some massive potential for good interaction. However, not a whole lot of commentary has appeared in regards to the way in which they interact. Brandon Davis said nothing about a Caryl moment, but then again he’s not a Caryl person, so his opinion should always be taken with a grain of salt. The only other source that we’ve heard from about the Caryl moment had said that “we don’t ship them anymore. Carol just looks like a friend Daryl desperately needs”...

First of all, who’s ‘we’? Secondly, for me it really depends on the reason as to why they don’t ship Caryl anymore to think like that. Is it because Carol and Daryl’s interaction in the premiere is more platonic? Or is it because so much time has passed and so little interaction has occurred between them that they’ve just given up on the idea that it’ll happen? B/c, logically, a relationship (or at least ambiguous potential of one happening in the future) would’ve happened by now, right?... if the writing was good, then yes it would’ve. So I wouldn’t get too worried about that review b/c, again, it’s arbitrary. I think they don’t ship them anymore simply b/c it’s been too long and the writers have failed to show enough that there’s a potential relationship there.

Now I’m not saying Caryl won’t happen, I’m just trying to make a point that the writers struggle with relationships. The vast majority of the relationships on TWD right now happened very suddenly, and with barely any progression to it. Denise and Tara were out of the blue, Sasha and Abe (although sweet) were still awkward and sudden, even Richonne’s canon moment was questionable. I swear to any Richonners reading this that I’m not downplaying your ship, I am simply stating that the writers should’ve done better for you. They had obviously progressed Rick and Jessie’s relationship before they actually kissed, most ppl knew that was going to happen eventually. Then Jessie dies, and literally the next episode, Rick and Michonne get together. Yes there was potential build up before they arrived at ASZ, but recent buildup was nonexistent. He was with Jessie, she dies, then bam, he’s with Michonne.

My point is, the canon moments for most of the relationships we’ve seen are often very out of the blue, and unfortunately I don’t see Caryl happening any differently. I’m sure when it happens we’re going to jump for joy... then start complaining about lack of progression beforehand. But it’s been a problem that the writers have had all this time. I’m not saying this to be negative, I’m only saying that just because there’s not much progression, doesn’t necessarily mean canon won’t happen. Is it the right way to write it? Fuck no, but we’re stuck with the writers we got.

In regards to Norman’s comments about various ships with Daryl, honestly, I don’t pay much attention to what he says most of the time. Ever since season 4, Norman has always been a bit uncomfortable with shipper questions. But he doesn’t like confrontation and he also doesn’t like letting people down, so he doesn’t ask “don’t ask me those questions please”. He is a people pleaser first and foremost, and he’d rather flirt the canon line with every ship than pick one to fangirl over b/c he’s seen the hate that comes from the shipper wars attacking each other. Is it the right way to play the field? Nope, but he doesn’t see it from our perspective. That’s why he’s sometimes described the idea of making Caryl canon almost scary b/c he’s seen the hate that can come from it. Melissa got a shit ton of hate after Beth died b/c there were stupid rumors about Mel’s influence on Beth’s death (none whatsoever). She still gets hate now from ageist assholes and the like, so I’m sure even Mel has some trepidation about them going canon. I’m not saying this to defend him, I’m just saying it to help ppl understand why he says stupid shit. Norman does have the potential to say really good things, but at the same time he’s said really crap things, so I just focus on the good. Keeps me sane XD.

At the end of the day, only listen to Norman if he’s flanked by Andy or Melissa b/c his answers will be much more thoughtful then... and for the love of god, run the fuck away if he’s flanked by Kirkman or Greg (especially).

8x01 Hug

Okay, so supposedly Caryl share another hug in the premiere (woo!) as well as a brief conversation. So far we haven’t really gotten the specifics on what this hug looks like or how it goes down, and we probably won’t until we see it for ourselves. What I will say is that oftentimes a caryl scene is downplayed to the audience, whether be from Brandon Davis or TSDF peeps. For example, in The Same Boat, the only thing we heard about the Caryl reunion was that “they share a quick hug”. It wasn’t that much to go on, and I know many of us were bummed at how that sounded. However, it wound up being more sweet than we anticipated. We got the soft shoulder grab and him asking, almost desperately if she was alright. Then the chin tilt, and then the hug with Daryl’s hand holding Carol’s head. Not to mention he stuck by her after, putting himself between her and the last Savior. That was a lot of detail within “a quick hug”, and I’m sure this one will be no different. Melissa and Norman, whether ppl like it or not, have very good chemistry, and they are able to use it and feed off each other to create powerful scenes, even if the writing sucks ass.

So when I think of the premiere hug I picture it as either Carol coming up and hugging him while he’s sitting on his bike and nuzzles him again (he does the same). Extra brownie points in that scenario b/c she’ll technically be in between his legs :D. Or Carol will say stay safe and walk away, but he calls her and walks up and hugs her, b/c he doesn’t know if he’ll ever see her again.

In regards to their brief conversation, since it’s brief I highly doubt they’ll talk about the really tough stuff, like Carol’s guilt over the girls or Daryl’s guilt over Glenn. I think it may just be them joking a little bit to ease some tension, and then they hug, and he’ll say “stay safe”, and she’ll say “nine lives” before pulling away. Personally I do hope that when the explosion happens later, that we get to see Daryl’s reaction. That’ll bring even more potential for an even greater reunion later on in the show b/c he won’t know if she survived the blast.

Season 8 Canon

Now I never really expected Caryl to go canon in the premiere (motherfuckers!), but I still very much expect canon by the end of the season. I know we’re very hesitant to believe anything from AMC, and we’re scared that they published those season 8 photos just to tease/torment us. But AMC isn’t dumb, they know that if they teased Caryl and (god forbid) had Carzekiel happen, then shit would hit the fan and not in a good way. That would be a complete bitch slap to the fans, and they know that a good chunk of them wants Caryl to happen. So I don’t see them promoting Caryl pre-season as a bad sign or just a stupid tease so they could get more ratings. I think they want people to tune in b/c they’ve got something big, and they know that if they put Carzekiel together then the ppl they’ve convinced to watch will just leave again.

I’m with Ripley, and I don’t think they’d go canon until the war is over b/c that’s just not a good time to do so. In fact I’d actually get more nervous if they went canon in the middle of the war b/c then they’d have more potential for more drama if they killed one of them off later. So I think we’ll get to see them interact throughout the season, and see the potential of a romance there. But I don’t think they’d be in the right mindset for romance until after the fighting is done.

Now hang on, bare with me for a second. I’m saying this because of Melissa’s recent interview about Carol’s mentality. Norman of course had said that Daryl’s not in the right headspace to have a romance, and we basically fried him on a stick for that, but Mel said something similar in that ‘Carzekiel’ specific article. They were talking about the potential for Carzekiel in season 8, but Melissa herself had said that Carol’s trying to keep herself from letting him in, or letting anyone in. She’s keeping everyone at arm’s length b/c she’s still having issues with having to kill people. I was hoping that after season 7 she would be on the mend with her inner demons but it still sounds like she will struggle with herself throughout the season. So it actually looks like neither character is in the right mindset for a romance, that’s why I think they’ll wait till the war is over for anything to happen.

Anyways, I do hope we get to see Caryl interact and heal together before the season ends though, b/c frankly, I’m tired of Carol being in a miserable arc, and I’m tired of Daryl being in a hot headed, revenge quest arc. Enough with the self tormenting, I want them happy!! But fuck everyone who says anything negative about this ship, I will fucking go down with it. I will never give up on Caryl!

The U.S. Open Papping Train Wreck:

Okay, I felt I had to post something publicly about the train wreck that was the papping of Norman and queen of bitch yesterday, since so many of you are wondering what is going on.

1.The Papping of Norman (Again): Most people agree looking at the papping pictures that they look staged af. The more she does this to him the more, the more it looks like one desperate attempt after another to to try and prove they are a “loving couple.” Too bad she has resting bitch face in most of the pictures and he looks awkward as fuck being papped, like he wants to run. Funny the staged “happy” smile she put on for the jumbotron was not seen the rest of the day.

2. The Gross Staged Kiss: Man, it is like pap walk of shame all over again and I know you are all feeling it. The first “kissing” pic that came out was legit fake, they were staging it. Their lips weren’t even touching and he was hiding that by his sweatshirt. The other two that came out that showed their lips touching, reminded me of the pap walk. He legit is just standing there awkwardly while she does all the work. And please, she is forcing herself to kiss him, it looks so awkward and not anything like a loving kiss. I mean jesus is that how you would kiss him? Hell no! Staged af.

3. The AMC Handler: Today more pics come out and we see that Norman arrived with Jill, the AMC handler he took to the same open last year. She sat with him and dk, as if it were just a friendly outing. I am hearing the staged PDA didn’t start till Jill left. I guess dk knew that AMC was watching her ass and she pulled her shit when she was gone only. Otherwise, all the pap pics till then legit looked like two friends, near strangers, watching the game. She of course smiled directly at the camera because she is the one who paid them to be there, you can tell when she knows her paps are taking her pic vs when legit press is. The one with his arm awkwardly around her i think was legit press and they looked miserable together, because that is how they really are together. But, when she is spinning her rag /pap bullshit she is acting so “in love.” It is so fake it is so obvious. I again, really worry for Daryl in this shit storm she has created because we know the network hates her papping shit. So another hit at his career for her! Yep, totally something you do to someone you “love.” -_- What is she going to do if he gets kicked off? She will lose his name recognition. Which, let’s be honest is all she wants out of him.

4. It Doesn’t Add Up: He didn’t walk the carpet with her, he went in with the handler. Why? If he was using this to out them publicly why not pose with your supposed gf and not meet inside? I doesn’t add up. Why does she always have to pap him every time she is seen with him? I legit am starting to think this entire thing is a show they are putting on or she is for press. We know her Cannes win got her delusional enough to thinking she has a chance at an Oscar nod. I think hell would have to freeze over for that, from what I hear elite Hollywood thinks of her, she is a laughing stock and dragging Norman’s name down with her.

None of his behavior up till Costa was saying he was remotely interested in her. She kept showing up unannounced, knowing she wasn’t supposed to be in GA, doing it anyway. Most every weekend he told her to fuck off, only a couple he let her ass stick around (Memorial Day/Moth Gate - Cookie Gate he drove her ass out of state, and road trip fro awkward af “you call that love” hell). The rest he has consistently told her to stay away from him and out of GA. We know he told her to fuck off on the 4th of July weekend and ran away from her to upstate. The facetime papping, well Shadi seemed to prove that was surely a papping he didn’t know about and on set, which again got him in a shit ton of hot water. But, she doesn’t care she got her pic.

She was hella pissed no one believed her facetime shit and I hear it effected her Leroy job, getting her part cut down. She was fucking pissed he didn’t answer his phone and that she had to fake a facetime with him and it looked fake af too. Guess she doesn’t have a graphic artist on her payroll lol. Then after that she begged to go to Costa. He told her to be good. What did she do? Out their location day one and out andy and greg’s location. I hear another argument over that. Then they were barely seen together except the charity thing and her papping bullshit. Where she proceeded to pap Andy and his family, driving a huge wedge between the two. Andy hates paps and never wants his kids papped, I hear he is beyond pissed. Again, something a “loving” gf does? Nope. Norman walked off when he saw her bring her paps back, pissed, and another fight ensued.

Then we have him ghosting her, aside from ig likes here and there, in real life since costa until now. I am hearing she skipped out on her movie premiere Thursday and flew to NYC instead. Probably, hoping to go to Mingus’s show. But, nope. She wasn’t there. Wouldn’t that be something he would bring his “loving gf” too? But, nope she didn’t go and was probably hella pissed he wouldn’t let her go and then the open happened.

There are two ways this could have gone down.

#1 - Norman wasn’t in on the papping at the open:

We know she has papped him several times before without his permission, so him not knowing she was bringing her paps is a possibility. If this is the case again she fucked him over. He could have said, sure come but as friends and nothing in the spotlight. And bang, she paps him again. She has a tendency not to give a fuck about his wants or wishes, she walks all over him and his friends and acts like she has done nothing wrong. Meanwhile, she is tanking his career and health.

#2 - Norman was in on the papping at the open:

The staged af kissing has me believing he might have agreed to the papping. If so. Why? They legit look miserable nearly all the time together. the Costa papping was painful, he looked miserable as fuck and then the bitch papped Andy and Greg.

So why would he be in on it?

This is the question no one knows yet. But, it could be they have an agreement to look like a “couple” in the public eye as she can’t admit she threw away JJ just to be a fuck buddy, a very casual one at that. Funny, how we know Norman has been with plenty of other women throughout the three years since Sky. Yet he hasn’t been seen with anyone female since the pap walk. Almost like it was agreed upon to make this thing look legit. We all remember the pap walk, it also was staged af. He was only happy coming out of the bar.

An agreement for her Oscar bullshit seems to make the most sense to me at this point. Because that is not love at all and they both know it, don’t tell me they don’t. She is miserable. He is miserable. But, they have to sell this image that they started in March. I think he really regrets that pap walk. Without it no one would ever have thought they were anything official. Again, she had to make it look like they hadn’t been already sneaking around for two years and that Norman was exclusive to her now, which I don’t believe is the case according to things I have heard. But, that is the illusion she is selling.

Why Norman would go along I don’t know. I hear his depression is at a all time high. He is losing friends and family support left and right because of her shit and he has to hit the bottle every time she is around. He has aged 10 years in 1 because of her bullshit. I would hope that Norman sees that she wants him isolated so she can get away with bullshit just like this. She papped Andy to get him pissed at Norman, because she hated that Andy didn’t like her and knew she was bad news for him. She has brought his castmates into her bullshit for far too long and now everyone is shying away from him. Which I fear only pushed him further toward her and back to his toxic habits and life. You know she encouraged his heavy drinking and who knows what other toxic behaviors. Because, she gets her way, probably because she threatens to out those same behaviors to the public if he doesn’t play along.

5. Just Worried At This Point: At the end of the day, after all of this information we know, I am just really, really worried for him. She has fucked his career so bad, just by being associated with him and the cheating. He hasn’t gotten any offers since her bullshit. Daryl could very well be on the table right now with the network just done with her papping and rag bullshit. Notice she mentioned TWD in the latest daily mail article after the open last night, bet they will LOVE that. -_-

On top of all that his health has just nose dived with all the drinking he has to do to just be around her. It looked like he was yesterday too. And he is losing his close friends and family, who were there to help him cleanse his toxic before her. I believe he has fallen into a depression trap and legit doesn’t know how to get out. Everyone is shunning him, his twd family has lost respect and that has to kill him inside, and she just keeps showing up and won’t leave.

I am wondering knowing all of this if, (if) he did make an agreement, maybe this is the only way she would leave. I mean you have to be spotted together and be seen to be a “couple,” and we know till recently he has hidden her and told her off (aside from the pap walk). Now this open thing when the media is actually talking about her for once. They legit aren’t seen much together and she keeps putting out articles about their “long distance relationship.” She is trying so hard to make them look like they are a couple, when in reality they do nothing a couple does. Does a couple need to pay paps to take their pic when they could have just posed out front? Nope. Does a bf not invite his gf to his son’s runway show? Nope. Does a gf pap her bf’s best friend, knowing he would blow his lid about it? Nope. Does a happy couple look miserable af when their own pap cam isn’t on them? Nope.

It could also be dk made him feel guilty for being part of the reason JJ kicked her. Most people agree that Norman was just something on the side she did to try and make JJ jealous. That didn’t work. JJ ran. Probably, relieved someone else she had to leech on. She really hates that JJ didn’t take her back you can see this in all her rag shit. She just using Norman to get back at JJ and save face in Hollywood, imo.

What worries me in the end is his physical and mental health. He is an amazing man with a great heart, but he isn’t good at sticking up for himself. He needs to see what he is doing is hurting not only others, but more importantly, himself! I feel like he is in a pit of despair and for whatever reason can’t get out of her shit.

This is all for show. I am damn certain of that at this point. The reasons why he might go along with it? I am not sure. But an agreement of some kind seems to make the most sense at this time. We know she is the type to leak shit on people, so who knows if she has something on him or like I said, this is the only way she will let him go without dragging him through the mud after he leaves. His behavior has screamed he is done with her since May. This doesn’t add up to anything more than an agreement to me. Their behavior says it all.

That ain’t love. Not even close.

[EDIT]: And sadly, her career only rises because of this and his will fall. Not that she cares. Because all she cares about is herself and whatever image she is selling this week. He needs to cut and run. She will do nothing but bad things for him, his relationships and friendships, and career.

I think that is all I have on the subject lol. Sorry it was long, but I have been fielding questions all night and day, so I wanted to just lay it out there for you all to read. At the end of the day we agree her papping shit since costa came out of nowhere, as his behavior before that was showing he wasn’t with her and she was just showing up unannounced. So here are my thoughts.

My advice to anyone who needs to step away, do it. I had to with JJ. I completely understand and it will save your sanity not to see her spinning her bullshit. But, at the end of the day that is all it ever is. Bullshit.

Richonne “Say Yes” Review by Lauren Avila

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS SPOILERS TO TWD'S 7.12 "SAY YES"..... AND IT'S ALSO YVETTE NICOLE BROWN'S NOTEBOOK LONG!

I'm the queen of the world! Woo-hoo! I feel like I'm flying at the front of the most magnificent ship on television. Rick and Michonne Grimes are honestly one of the strongest, healthiest, and inspiring couples I've ever seen in any media form. I know it sounds cliche, and they are anything but cliche, but they complete each other. It's remarkable really because independently they are already capable warriors who don't NEED anyone but that's essentially what makes this pair so amazing. Rick and Michonne on their own are survivors, but together they are an unstoppable force. This episode really was a beautiful tribute to each character but a undeniable display of their impressive teamwork. I loved this episode so much I can hardly express why. It was the little things that made me the happiest. I truly appreciate the hardwork that goes into The Walking Dead. The whole cast, crew, writers, and producers are in a caliber quite different from any other tv show out there. It's such a gift to be able to pick up on new things each time you see an episode. As some fans might have noticed. There was a lot more to the episode than just what was at the surface, as often there is in any episode. Okay, so let's dive in. There were parts of the episode that I was swooning over as a fangirl but other parts that I found I was completely fascinated by as a regular viewer. I found there was a lot of symbolism and signs going on especially regarding callbacks to other episodes and possible foreshadowing to the future. Let's first discuss all the callbacks. As a whole, I feel like this episode sort of embodied their journey so far, individually and together. If you look enough into it (as a fangirl), you might even say this was like going down an AISLE of memory lane. ;)

There were Claimed references like Michonne's past, staying put in one safe place for awhile, scavenging, and Michonne's love of cheese. Sitting around a campfire and "You okay?" was an A reference. Even saying "Clear" very distinctly during their dinner felt like a throwback moment. Going after the deer didn't actually make me think of a few episodes prior like they talk about, but rather Carl. He went after the deer just before being shot. Obviously we've now learned that Grimes boys and deers aren't a safe combination. However, I've now heard people talk about a deer being a symbol of fertility... and Rick owes Michonne a deer? Hmm. Time will tell on that one. The roof caving has happened before in Season 4 when Michonne comes back from going after a past villain, the Governor. It's also in that episode that Rick wants her "to stay awhile" just like in this episode. I could go into a lot more detail about the parallels between "Say Yes" and "30 Days Without an Accident" but it might have to be another post. Let's just keep it at: characters struggling with inner demons, establishing a new life for Carl, fighting for a chance, etc. While I'm on the subject of the prison though, I felt like the whole carnival setting was reminiscent of that with the walkers roaming inside gated areas and taking down barriers. I'm sure if you look deep enough you will find all sorts of little things, but the final callback I want to acknowledge is the car from this episode and the tank from the pilot. Rick was once again stuck in a car, surrounded by walkers. Only this time, he didn't have Glenn to navigate him out. :( By the way, I love that Richonne even have chemistry while separated by an entire car backseat.

Speaking of Glenn, I think that Rick's grief over Glenn's death is also a big reason why he doesn't want to lead anymore. Even though Michonne has been encouraging to him with her confidence in his ability to lead, I think he's scared. She has told him before that it's not his fault when people die but I think that every loss is going to weigh on him for a very long time. He can't forgive himself for some things which is why I think it terrifies him to be responsible for anyone. This brings me to the most official unofficial proposal/marriage on tv. It seems that Rick only truly believes in himself because of Michonne's faith in him. He says later "You led me here." That's why he will only consider leading with her beside him. These are the facts as far as I'm concerned: Rick asked her if she would be willing to lead a life with him. She said yeah. They sealed it with a kiss. They are married, folks. They are Chilli and Mac&Cheese together.

Shoutout to @siancore for noticing something I noticed too. I wondered if I was reaching a bit far with it but I guess I'm not totally fangirl crazy because someone else hears it too. They sound different when talking to each other. I'm so in love with this acting decision! I assume that Andy and Danai do this purposely, that is. They have a soft, playfulness in their voices that they really only use with Carl and that's about it. It's like you can hear them letting their emotional guard down. I heard it A LOT in this episode. Whether it was during their comedic relief, their lovey-dovey giddiness, or even in their vulnerable heart-to-hearts. The only time I heard Rick sound like the Rick we're used to was when he was talking about the upcoming war. It was the natural and serious protector coming out in him. I could talk about their subtle voice changes throughout the episode in an entire post like their old-married couple tones, their smitten teenager tones, and their warrior lover tones but I'll leave it at that for now. You get what I'm saying though. The flirting... the love... the softness... it was all on point!!

Let's talk about Michonne's post-traumatic stress. First of all, I wonder if this abandoned school reminded Michonne of the camp she lost Andre to. The way she immediately identified the place as somewhere something serious has happened. It seem to not settle well with her. I also found it interesting how fast she went back to that dark place that Rick and Carl pulled her out of. When she thought Rick was lost to walkers, like Andre, she emptied right before our eyes. She became the shadowy creature she once was because her whole world collapsed in that moment. Yes, she's a strong woman, but Rick gives her life meaning. Without him, she would be lost. She later says, "I can't lose you." We've seen how Rick and Michonne react to extreme grief and trauma, but they both have survived it. Of course, I think that they helped each other find joy and hope again in each other, but they have others who were part of that too. When Rick told her "You can lose me. I can lose you," it surprised me at first. Right away I thought he meant that they were capable of bearing that loss because they've done it before. I thought that he should at least say it more gently like, "Yeah, it would be difficult but we can survive. We're the ones that live." Then I realized, no he's not talking about the ability to lose each other, rather the possibility. He's telling her that it's entirely likely that he can lose her in this war they're about to start and vice versa. He's telling her that there's a chance that they might not come out of this alive but it's still a battle worth fighting because the future is worth fighting for. He wants a life that's worth having for the kids but also for each other. I think it was really important for them to have this talk. I think something that really crushed Rick when it came to Negan was how far he fell. He was basically getting cocky over the world being theirs. This new mentality will probably be a lot more useful to them though. They know what they are fighting for, who they're fighting for, and what they're willing to sacrifice to win. They are both putting the greater good above themselves.

While I'm on the topic of future, let's talk about something a little happier. There seems to be a lot of signs of a potential future pregnancy for Richonne. The baby blanket they found in a drawer, kissing Michonne's belly, and then that whole deer thing that I talked about earlier. Based on Michonne's mood swings from devastation to joy and her growing hunger for those ready-to-eat meals, I might even guess she's already expecting. In all seriousness, I think it's a very real possibility that we'll see a little Richonne baby one day.

That leads me to my fangirl list of episode highlights: - I loved that in a series where the characters rarely get to smile, this episode was nothing but smiles and laughs! Their joy brought me joy. I had a big smile on my face the whole night. - Their epic embrace when Michonne knew Rick was alive and ok. It was emotional and so real. They held each other so tight like they were literally each other's whole world. - Rick's negotiation to keep the cat. I'm thinking that this was the line that Nicotero had in mind as the funniest line of the season. It's hard to figure out because there were a lot of good ones but the idea that Ricky-Dicky Grimes (who has ripped out throats, dissected walkers, survived herds, murdered Terminites and Negan's crew in cold-blood, and has beast-mode against anything to live) is negotiating with a dumpster diva for a cat statue is hilarious. - All their physical contact: kissing, hand-holding, hugging, other stuff ;) - All their non-physical contact: watching/staring at each other - Favorite lines: (also contenders for funniest line) "We found the only way in, so..." "It's Chilli and Mac & Cheese... Together. C'mon." "This is about doing it quiet, with the sword... You can handle 8." "You got your 8 walkers. I can push." "Or we could just go." "You wanna go?" "Nah, we can do this." "Yeah, I know we can."

One more thing I want to touch on before wrapping up. Did you guys notice them kissing each other's hands/wrists? Personally I've got a thing for character's holding hands. I sometimes think it's even more sexy than kissing. So them kissing each other like that already had me fangirling but then I thought about the symbolism. Had it been their left hands, I would've freaked out and said that it was a metaphor for them exchanging rings. It would've furthered my argument that they are married now. However it was their right, dominant hands. These are their stronger hands that they rely on to do everything and to survive by. They are each other's right-hand people. "And having one of those is important." Without them you would be left, to an extent, helpless in this world. They are each other's strength. Think about that for a minute...

[Update: Upon further review, I noticed it is actually Michonne’s left hand. Therefore both metaphors apply. Carry on.]

Even though I think I could discuss this episode until the season ends, I've already gone on for awhile. As a proud Richonner, I give this episode a 5 star rating and highly recommend it for constant rewatch. I really enjoyed the Talking Dead episode too! I loved YNB and Denise Huth’s commentary! Congrats to Jill & Brandan on winning the Ultimate Fan Search! I'll post again some day about how I met Brandan and his mom at the S7 premiere in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Until then, that's all I have for you.

Sidenote: I really enjoyed Tara and Judith's scene. I'm a fan of both characters so this scene was really cute to me.

What was your first post about Rick/Andy? Can you reblog your first post please? I’m on mobile so I don’t know how find your old posts lol. I just want to know how and where your love for Andy started.

I can’t reblog it, actually 😕 Last summer I tried to back up my blog which caused it to get kicked into the matrix, so to speak, and I lost it for like 2 days. After that I tried to back it up again but the file was like 10GB and growing since I’ve been here since 2010 and my old dinosaur of a laptop couldn’t take that. So I went through and deleted a fuckton of stuff, old fandom stuff like Doctor Who and old TWD reblogs, since I’ve switched this to just being an Andy blog it was stuff I didn’t care about keeping. I think my blog only goes back to 2013 now.

I have the memory of an elephant sometimes so I can tell you I became a fan in 2012, and I don’t believe I ever had any kind of “I’m a fan now” post so it was probably just a picture. I knew him from Love Actually but TWD gave the love a jumpstart and it just went far and way way beyond the show, probably obvious 😂, to the point where when it comes to his work if it’s possible to get your hands on it I’ve seen it and people occasionally use me as a Rolodex for questions n’ such. Here I still am 6 ½ years later just puddlin’ along.

Aside from old Love Actually gifsets, my first Andy posts were back in October 2012 when I started watching TWD, just before S3 aired, almost 6 years ago now. Assuming I didn't forget to tag something it was a gifset of an interview I reblogged from SDCC 2010, to be exact. I knew him from Love Actually but 6 years ago is when my brain went “💓that 💓 one 💓” And now here we are 😆😙🤓

Reveling in Richonne

#46: The Kiss (7x5)

The Kiss of Life!!!! This. kiss. was. every. thing. Before I start, I just need to do my happy dance for the millionth time over this perfection. 🙌🏾

I don't know what's wrong with me but every single time I see this scene, I react like it’s my first time ever seeing this scene and I literally have the reaction of this gif above 😂...Like every single time, without fail, because this moment is everything and then some. Like perfection. Like tens across the board. Like mesmerizing and magical and definitely on my nonexistent “Top Ten Richonne moments” list. It’s like they sprinkled something over this scene that makes it where you have to watch it over and over. You can't not smile and cheer and celebrate every time you see this. (PS: This lengthy post is going to be half analysis, half pure rejoicing lol. I can't help it! 😁) Y'all, this kiss was something special and whoever thought to choreograph it this way should receive a medal. It was this moment. It was this exchange that took my love for Richonne to a whole new level, cuz it was the first time Richonne left me completely and utterly shook. Don’t get me wrong, I adored all their other moments, but this one was entrancing like no other.

Basically the low five put me on the ship and then this moment put me in the dumpster lol.

Like, seriously, round of applause to everyone involved. The light crew gets a medal. The stylist gets a medal. The composer gets a medal. The director and cinematographer and writers get a medal. And you already know Andy and Danai get all the medals. (But seriously imma need some Emmys or Golden Globe noms headed TWD’s way before the show ends)

This scene was beautiful. I've seen a lot of people excellently dissect this breathtaking moment, and people's thoughts and insight and celebration of this moment is so good and brings me so much joy to read! So a lot of my analysis is really just me preaching to the choir, but you know I have to join in and give my play by play lol. 😋 So, Rick goes in for that little hug and peck on the cheek I mentioned earlier. It's a “casual” husband/wife send off and it's sweet that he just wants some form of physical connection with her before he goes cuz...this is Rick and Michonne! (an epiphany that hits me over and over again cuz it's just so amazing and crazy to me that these people we've been watching for years are now able to express the love they've had inside for so long)

Like think of how many times, pre-canon, R&M have gone out to do separate things and maybe wanted to give a hug goodbye and now they can. Think about the "I'm still with you" moment that preciously parallels this one!

You can't help but be happy for them that they now get to do all the things they've been wanting to do. So, again, if all they had done was hug it would have been super sweet.

But instead, honey, we got blessed and spoiled! Cuz as Rick goes in for the hug, Michonne so gracefully and intimately places her hand on his face.

Just to do something as intimate and personal as touch his face, lets you know that R&M feel very very close and connected to one another. I also notice that Michonne immediately puts her hand on his face the second she realizes Rick is going in for this peck on the cheek thing. By putting her hand on his face so quickly it lets me know that she knew from the second he stepped towards her that she wanted to give him a more proper sendoff than the one he was about to do.

Like this kiss wasn't an after thought or some uncertain thing for her. She doesn’t just let the casual hug happen and then hesitantly think "Oh wait, maybe I should give him his entire life right now" 😂 No, she was confident and knew from the jump that she wanted to do that. Now, when this first happened it could seem to some like she was about to reject the hug. In fact, Rick looks like he's thinking that for a second too. It absolutely pains me when you see the quick look of uncertainty on Rick's face as Michonne redirects him. Like he was already a little hesitant to go in for the peck on the cheek and for a split second it feels like he's thinking "Dang, she doesn't even want me to touch her.".

Rick really thinks he's about to take yet another L and get rejected. But I love that Michonne doesn't give Rick much time to linger on the possible thought of rejection before she's letting him know exactly where they stand and how she feels about him, without even having to say a single word.

Like this kiss was a loud and clear "I love you" from both of them. 😍

I love the way it's choreographed for her to take his face and sort of lead the way here. It conveys oh so much. Like one; this is Michonne saying "Nah, we don't do that platonic peck on the cheek stuff. Our love is too strong for that." 😂

And two; it's a reminder of how R&M are equals. And three; it’s a reminder that they are so in sync with one another. Like Michonne can see that if they just do a casual sendoff it could cause more disconnect for them so, like the wise strong 👸🏾 she is, she steps in and she closes the distance between them literally and figuratively.

And four; this is Michonne teaching us yet another way to say, “I’m still with you”. Like so far Michonne’s taught us that you can say “I’m still with you” by:

Saying the actual words to him

Being the first one out to aid him in fighting a herd of walkers

Giving a warning pop to a chick that tries him

Pleading his case to a psycho while a gun’s aimed at your head.

Helping him make a bed

And then you can also give him the literal kiss of life. 🙌🏾

I love that now that they’re a couple, Michonne can more intimately let Rick know she’s still with him. And this kiss is so powerful because it feels like a game changer for them. Because it communicated to both of them what they might have not been verbally communicating to each other since Negan’s arrival and that’s that; there is literally no amount of differing opinions, or distance, or tension, or anything at all that’s going to break us up. We’re still with each other and we want to be with each other forever.

I love this moment too cuz, as breathtaking as it was, it felt so authentic and not sappy in the slightest. It just felt like grown healthy love. And yet it was still so magical cuz, y'all, I'm not a sappy person (or so I thought lol) but I could practically hear angels singing when this moment first aired.

Like I promise, when I first saw it, I felt like it was in slow motion or something. 😂 It was that mesmerizing. It just felt like it was straight out of an apocalyptic Disney movie lol. It was True Love's Kiss! 😍 I love that Michonne's leading the way at first on the kiss and then it does not take long for Rick to be right there with her. I love that he, of course, pulls her in closer and they literally get lost in each other, as any concern that they are on the rocks quickly disappears. Like you literally see them both radiate equal amounts of intense love and energy.

They are so engulfed by each other that it's like no one else is there. And it’s funny cuz I remember thinking about how R&M are doing all this with Carl definitely right there in the next room with the door open lol. But I love that for this one moment it was just them two in this world. 😊 And you can tell they never want this moment to end.

And y'all can I just say one more time...that's Rick and Michonne! That’s “Your face is losing the war” Michonne and “You gonna stay awhile?” Rick. These two have been knowing each other for the longest and now they're doing this.🙌🏾

I remember even my sister, who’s a more casual viewer, took note of this scene and was like “Well okay then.” 😂 Everyone took note of this moment. 👏🏽

Like if someone watches this scene and still doesn't buy the deep love between Rick and Michonne it might be time for them to consider if they’re a...

Lol. But Haters are just going to stay mad because this couple isn't only going to survive but thrive. 👌🏽😊 Their bond is unbreakable and this kiss made that crystal clear. The passion, chemistry, sincerity, unity, desire, respect, longing, support, and just pure love conveyed in that kiss, from both of them, is A1. 👌🏽

I love that Michonne knew that her man needed to be reminded that he's still the man in this world and so she reminded him of just that. Michonne always be knowing just what to do lol. 👏🏽 Like she wanted to remind Rick just who he is in her eyes. He is still the Rick Grimes to Michonne.

R&M are completely on the same page in this moment and it just reminds you that they are truly made for one another. And I adore how much R&M can say without words. Like, apart from “I’m still with you”, that kiss was Michonne telling Rick "I respect you, I believe in you, I support you, I want you, I love you" and Rick seriously needed that.

You can tell that Rick is overcome by this woman and has just gotten even more proof that he was very right in saying “this is different”. It’s 100% clear that Rick got his entire life from that kiss lol. 😊

And I love that it doesn't just end with the kisses! Afterwards, R&M both lean in, so beyond close to each other, and they stay in this moment just a little longer. It really is like they melt into each other. And they just visually look like they fit together like puzzle pieces. I love that as they just stay here for a moment it really feels like they are leaning on their rock and their other half. Like as hesitant as the scene started it ends with such strength and unity and power between them. 😍

It's so evident that they don't want to pull away from each other as the kiss ends and their foreheads touch. Like they almost seem dizzy from the immense amount of love that has just poured out of them. Their love is so powerful it overwhelms them just as much as us lol.

And then Rick says the only appropriate response...

"Thank you". 😋 I adore this very sweet and very accurate response. Like I know some people say Rick was technically saying thank you in regards to Michonne saying good luck, but let's be real y'all, he was thanking her for the greatest kiss of his life. (Plus, when she said “good luck” he said “yeah” so he technically already responded to that. 😁)

To me, the “thank” you has even deeper meaning. This was Rick saying thank you to Michonne for being his ride or die, for never giving up on him, for being there for him and loving him and choosing him every time, no matter what. He was thanking her for being her. (and, again, for giving him his entire life in one kiss 😋) With this world being more dangerous than ever, it's a big deal to leave home and you really don't know if your goodbye is truly your last goodbye so, as R&M head off separate ways, Michonne wanted to make sure they have a proper and fitting farewell, which of course is an epic one for an epic couple. So, in a way, this kiss was her also saying "Just in case this is the last goodbye you should know exactly how I feel about you". But the kiss was also very strategic, cuz I know Homegirl was trying to give Rick some serious incentive to get back asap. I'm honestly a little surprised Rick didn’t go tell Aaron their trip’s cancelled lol. Cuz after this kiss, Rick really looked like he was thinking, ‘Negan who?” 😂.

I know with complete certainty that Rick had this moment with Michonne on replay the whole time he was out with Aaron. As Rick walks away, Michonne watches both sad to see him go and also knowing full well she just put that man in a trance. 😂 She knows what she's done lol. Like Rick's now beyond whipped. Is there a term stronger than whipped? Cuz that's what he is now lol.

To date, this is my favorite kiss between them. Hence why I can gush about it forever. It was just so much more than a kiss. It was everything. It was their unbreakable love fully on display. And they've come so far since season three, and have had many moments in past seasons that could have led to a kiss, so it just feels so rewarding and wonderful that they're finally at this point in the relationship. I can imagine for long-time shippers this moment sent you straight up to heaven lol. 🙌🏾 😋 Literally every time I see a gif of this moment I can't help but get that same overwhelming joy I had the first time watching it. It's just so good and so magical yet so realistic and organic. Richonne is always so well done cuz it's always conveyed like grown, healthy, natural, genuine true love. And this kiss gives you no doubt that R&M’s relationship will not just last, but it will stand the test of time. They are ride or die, they are partners for life, they are one.

This scene was towards the beginning of 7x5, but low key the rest of the episode was kind of a blur cuz, as far as I'm concerned, this one scene stole the whole show. 😋

So, in short (lol), every time I see this moment I can’t help but say, “I’m...

Cuz this scene was, is, and will always be a masterpiece. 🙌🏾👌🏽👏🏽👏
