The problem with "sanders sides"

This is something i WANTED to touch on, because i want to know if anyone else has noticed this. through the start of the series, we're met with this extremely "Made From Home" vibe. from the camera angle, the editing, the lighting, the cut away gags-- its a youtube video.

Personally, around "Am I Original" is when we get this tone-shift. its still "youtube video" but you can tell that theres clearly a plot behind what you're watching. its interesting, its fun-- and you can easily connect with the characters THROUGH thomas.

from this point forward, the series slowly shifts from "youtube video" to an actual, proper webseries. something that takes time and effort to make-- the same as any other tv show would. theres a whole production team (in thomas' own way, of course) behind the series now, and you can TELL.

When i first left the fandom, there was apparently some things that went down. one major issue that i saw pop up consistently was people talking about the time gap between thomas posting videos, and when thomas would film again. there were a lot of issues, because at this point, we were all under the impression that this is still a youtube series. we hadn't all adapted to this tone shift, and most of us just took this tone shift as "better production quality" and didnt consider WHY it was changing.

The series CLEARLY has a story. theres a message behind EVERY. SINGLE. VIDEO. canon, or not. you learn more about the character each time you see them, and the ability to relate to a character, and create your own headcanons on their backstories is incredible. to leave it filled out enough to be a good character, but ambiguous enough that people feel the need to solve the puzzle.

i watched "Working through intrusive thoughts" and i... i honestly cant describe it. it almost scares me, because it has this bitter-sweet, gut wrenching feeling of "THIS. THIS IS A SERIES. this is something that could win awards, and this is something that could genuinely be a horror movie, had thomas WANTED to make that." It had this sad tone shift of "This is professional." it was sad for me because, it was done SO well. the pacing was incredible, and the script was genuinely something i will NEVER EVER EVER get over.

so, with all this being said-- whats the problem with sanders sides? the problem is that people havent realized that this isnt a "youtube vlog series" anymore. this is a proper production. something about this has changed, and it had this genuinely, real vibe to it now. with each video we get, the story is slowly revealed, and so many people are stuck up on how LONG a production takes, that it somewhat overlooks what it takes TO make these all happen. the cinematic value of sanders sides is so often overlooked, and its something i've come to appreciate, a LOT.

so much planning goes into making an episode. making sure to stay relevant while also not dating the video, making sure everything follows canon lore when its supposed to-- heck, just the ability to know the fanbase consuming the content the way they DO is beyond incredible. the inside jokes, and the way some of the script LITERALLY sounds like fanfiction, but in a way thats still realistic and in character.

Pastels, Peaches, and Pain is one of those sambucky wips i have mostly fully fleshed out in my head because of one (1) extreme moment of clarity after a rogue ‘what if’ tangent thought but havent written anything of yet out of restraint / knowing i need to finish at least one of my current sambucky wips before i start it or none of them will get done

this was the rogue tangent thought: “what if Sam is haunted by Figaro’s ghost and has been since he was a kid?”. i’ve changed the ghost cat to not be Figaro but that’s the premise !

i refer to the fic as the cat fic ‘cause the whole plot is based around sam’s ghost cat companion insisting he adopts nat’s cat Liho after endgame and then Figaro later and then [insert redacted because plot spoilers but just know it relates to Alpine]. no im not projecting my feelings about cats idk what youre talking about 

here’s some note snippets just for you:

the cat, inexplicably, takes a liking to bucky, which is really annoying bc sam doesnt know how to explain to him that all the oddly soft gusts of wind are actually sam's dead cat insisting on getting pats

bucky getting shade thrown at him by said ghost cat during all of tfatws + them making up (and not out. yet)

starts when sam's a kid & follows him as he grows up w/ a ghost kitty as a companion only he can see & interact with + angst with an undertone of comedy + getting together

he whispers to ghost kitty, who simply mmrrs happily

for the among us first draft thing, what basically happened is i saw this tweet and this video and my brain latched onto these dynamics so hard i had to write about them.

The thing having Cyan pause and stare out at the asteroid field is how the colors stretch to family. When they and Black came aboard, they had thought every crewmember was an adult working on the planet-change project. That the patch of off-white with a black something-pattern-or-shape signified status. In a way, Cyan supposes it does, but just not the way they expected. They had expected it to show what rank an individual held within the hierarchy of the crew, from deckhand to division leader to captain, not to show that you're family of the crew and not actually part of the crew itself. 

There are innocents on this ship. Children. It was not something any of them had anticipated, and not something Cyan had been prepared to deal with. They and Black boarded this horrible place to eradicate a threat, believing each and single one of the humans were accomplishes and dedicated to the goal of destroying Cyan and Black's species, and their planet. But, now?

marvel meets warframe meets a bunch of tumblr posts... doesn’t have a wip title or seperate document for itself yet cause it’s been stuck in my ‘story ideas’ document since its creation. so ‘marvel meets warframe meets a bunch of tumblr posts’ is literally just me describing the vibe of an original world gjkerfkds

the world came to be for two reasons. firstly, i want to do make take on a superhero universe because the plot and complete lack of communication in both the dcu and mcu piss me the fuck off. secondly, needed a place to dump ocs with elaborate backstories or fantasy / sci-fi abilities that dont fit into any of my existing worlds

which sounds super competent but trust me, it isn’t. it didn’t gain any solidity at all until i decided to do a personal ‘how different can i make spn castiel look & still retain the same vibe?’ challenge. i have my own cas now

however, the reason i said ‘marvel meets...’ is because i’ve snagged a couple of different things from the mcu, most notably: enemies to reluctant coworkers to lovers, yes our best friend have the same name. no they’re not the same person, secret evil org is controlling the government, and the assassin that tried to kill you several times is now your best friend

warframe was added to the world because i got attached to my Volt build, gave them a name, and have some headcanons idk what to do with because i refuse to interact with that fandom. also because the friend i made through discussing warframe lore + plot dicked me over so it feels Bad to create for

the glue to this whole mess is that one “in every friend group there’s a mean bisexual, an even meaner lesbian, a she/they, a he/they, a himbo, an astrology bitch, a short king, and a token straight” tumblr post. my main group of superheroes ala the avengers consist of these people. the token straight is the only one i havent figured out who is yet

ever since i figured that out ive been throwing story / character ideas and weirdly specific aesthetics from popular tumblr posts into this world’s notes. here’s some examples:

the time jumping dream movie was one of the first vivid dreams i had and the whole thing was so stupidly coherent and whacky i had to write it down. it grew plot, a queer love dynamic, weird sci-fi apocalypse elements, anti-military propaganda, questionable science, and a sequel while i wasnt looking and now i just. have to make it a real movie or i’ll combust

Bryce was born and raised in Scotland and eventually moved to America because of his mother’s job. In his new school he was immediately unpopular. He was shy, awkward looking, had a thick accent, and of course: a sonic fan.

my canon and meg’s canon start to diverge at this point

in my headcanons, Bryce goes on to possess the laptop he had in his bag. souls becoming attached to objects is somewhat of a running theme in my lore.

however for Bryce, figuring out that he’s dead takes a while. he woke up in a cold, black void and found he couldn’t do much except just float around. he had no idea if he was in a coma or some kind of purgatory.

a few months after his death, Bryce’s laptop gets sold to a new owner.

when the laptop is turned on he suddenly finds himself outside the void. he’s floating around...numbers. binary code. he’s inside the laptop

it takes him a while to figure out how to do anything. eventually he discovers how to actively watch whats being done on the laptop. he silently watches the new owner go about their business while trying to come to grips with where he is or what he’s supposed to do.

he discovers the camera and continues his silent watching

eventually he figures out how to interact with things on the laptop. he attempts to communicate with the new owner, typing things in the notepad and trying to ask for help

Of course this freaks the owner out and they assume the laptop is hacked. they try to clean it out but that doesn’t work, and so the laptop is sold again

bryce gets passed from person to person. some people assume it’s a hacker, some are actually freaked out, and absolutely nobody believes him.

until he falls into the possession of someone from slender mansion (havent decided who yet)

they see the laptop is haunted and go ‘’aW FUCK BEN THERES A FUCKIN GHOST IN MY LAPTOP’’

long story short he and ben are Best Fuckin Friends

Bryce is kinda quiet and withdrawn- well I say that but he gets pretty heated during gaming sessions. they probably bring out the violence in him

Okay, sorry for sending so many asks, posts, reblogs, submissions and stuff lately.  I have been more active on tumblr lately, esp. for Gravity Falls, TAU, and Transcendence stuff lately.  Which I like in general, but with the TAUathon and the Transcendence zine stuff going on, both of which I have been busy with, and have been going on more lately  But yeah, I have fics I have been working on for both and they are almost done. 

They have a lot of references to other fics and head canons I have read.  Im also trying to research and make sure the lore and TAU is as correct and good as possible, so besides them being long, and me trying to make them as good as possible, the research is taking me awhile and stuff.  Anyways, for one of the fics, I want to clarify something, I want to make sure Im sticking to the canon or at lease the Squish as much possible, at least with these 2 fics.  Anyways, for the TAUathon fic Im almost done with, I want to ask this question, before I finish it, in case, however you answer makes me need to change things in the fic. 

I dont need to ask much questions for the TAU zine fic Im working on (which I hope they are still taking.  I did said I would be submitting something, but they didnt say any kind of due date, at least the last time I work.  I havent checked tumblr a lot until recently since I have been busy working on that TAU zine fic and the TAUathon fic, so yeah I have been busy) since Im pretty sure everything is right in it, and because Im pretty sure I cant tell and show much have a zine thing/fic (Im not completely sure on that, since this my 1st time entering a zine, or doing much zine things, though Im pretty sure, so yeah). 

Anyways, my question for the TAUathon fic I am working and I think is just an interesting question in general is how would Alcor’s (near) Omniscience would work with Gods?  I know in the TAU verse, Gods are more like Guardians of their Domain usually, and are usually less powerful than Angels and Demons, probably esp. the higher rank demons and angels.  Though, I bet there is probably some expectations with that too, esp. with more old/ancient, wise, and experienced Gods, but usually Gods are in TAU.  Gods remind a bit of Genius Loci (which I love too, I love Genius Loci stuff, I would love to read more on that.  I esp. love the Hank, Alcor Genius Loci stuff esp. in Portland, Gravity Falls, and some I have seen with LA, because those places are just great settings, esp. for mundane and prenatural stuff and coexisting. 

Gods remind me a bit of Genius Loci both protectors/guardians of their domain in a lot of ways (with Gods usually have having some stuff that shows who and what they are a God of and Genius Loci being basically literal personifications of the place), but probably a lot stronger and in most cases older, maybe not always though.  Anyways, back more on topic, how do you think Alcor’s (near) Omniscience, and probably others’ omniscience as well would work on Gods. 

I know Demons with other Demons its possible they might find out stuff about, or around the other demons, or the omniscience and the user might do works arounds to find out stuff, basically it can be very on the fritz, staticy, or/& barely working to not working at really.  I know demons usually cant read the others’ minds.  And Im basically do the same things with Gods, but both a lesser and more extent.  While Alcor’s omniscience is definitely on the fritz and kinda disjointed with the flow of words and information, it is probably giving him more information than he would be able to find out about demons right away, though sometimes if he pushes himself to find out more it causes bad physical stuff too, though the human form Alcor is right now, is not helping that, but basically pushing yourself can be bad with how Im writing that fic. 

And another more thing when it comes to trying to get read on Gods, esp. this particular Old God with his omniscience is that it is even harder to read their minds and get into their mindscapes maybe then even other demons (would omniscience with Angels work a bit similar to demons and Gods, or just completely differently now that I think about it?), and you would have to read and use aura and logical deductions a lot more maybe.  The reason why I think that, is because of the God Eye item helping against omniscient beings, though maybe whatever they do to turn an actual God Eye (I think its an actual God’s Eye) into an item/talisman maybe makes that stronger, I can see that.  Again, I know other people maybe different interpretations on how well or not well Omniscience and Alcor’s Omniscience will work against others.  Like I think I know pretty well on how well it works against (other) demons, but Im less sure about Angels and Gods. 

So if maybe you can tell your opinion and what you think that would be cool, esp. on the Gods stuff, because that is fic Im writing for TAU now.  And if think my ideas that I have been using in my TAU Gods fic makes sense when it comes to Omniscience and Alcor’s omniscience with them and also their own omniscience against other beings like gods, demons, angels, etc.  I think what Im doing in my fic with those ideas and stuff makes enough sense, but I would love to hear some of your thoughts if possible. 

If you dont know everything (yet) thats fine, Im just curious.  And Im also sure other people might come with really good TAU Gods (and even more Angels) lore, head canons, and stuff.  If you cant answer soon that is fine.  If I finish the fic before you answer, I might make another (updated) version with any information you tell me someday, till then I hope my fic is good enough representation of the kind stuff im asking about and accurate enough.  Ever seeing that Mother Gaia Prompt, been wanting more Gods and Old Gods in TAU, so Im making one (and maybe even more later) myself.  Also, sorry about long this was, I ended talking more than just the omniscience thing, haha.

Glad to see your enthusiasm! Sorry this took a little bit to answer; we’re aware that you’ve posted your TAU fic already. No worries, though; you’re pretty much spot on with the long and short of it, which is this: Alcor’s Omniscience may not be 100% reliable at all times.

In many works and headcanons in TAU, this ability of his seems to work a little more like a cosmic google search than anything. He often has to know what he wants to know about in the first place, and then be able to give it a moment of thought. Now, once he does so, any and all information that may be available to him is instantly downloaded and understood, as it were. That being said, sometimes the sources - or the subjects - of that information have enough power to put up blocks of some sort (for the most powerful, most exclusive example in this AU, consider True Names - no being, however omniscient, can simply reach into this well of knowledge and draw out the True Name of another being). Of creatures and beings with this amount of power, other demons would be some, and it’s very reasonable to assume that angels and even gods would be others. In theory, perhaps one with enough power could overwhelm the blocks around one with very little, but I’m not sure if that’s been explored as a concept.

So in short, I’m pretty sure you’ve got it! Have fun writing those Old Gods and Conceptual Deities!

ppl have been asking me my opinions on space channel 5 vr... and i guess since i bought a vr headset off craigslist just so i could play it and speedrun it before work the day it came out... i should talk abt it now... i dont rly think i’ll be able to separate it into ‘good’ and ‘bad’ things i think i’m just going to do a rambly stream of consciousness bc i have a headache... but i DO have good things to say abt this game... so st.... sta stay t tune  d

right off the bat, the thing i appreciate most abt this game- i like that space channel 5 vr doesnt have cash grab vibes. i Do genuinely believe that they Wanted to make this game For the people who are still obsessed with it, and that they ultimately did what they set out to do when they intended to scale certain aspects of the series up conceptually to match the way the fandom perceives it nowadays. but like i’ve said before... i’m not going to Disagree with the very common conclusion that it Needed to be longer, or at Least more intricate plot-wise. one of my fun and fresh excuses for sc5vr being as short as it is is because you arent really supposed to be playing vr games for too long anyways, its really disorienting and kinda painful, but even that doesn’t account for why so much of the game that we got is a rehash of old settings, concepts, songs, and characters. [i dont even have a problem with reusing old songs, i just think the ones they chose ended up being misleading]

for example i think it makes sense that the first report is a remake of the first games first report on the surface, it’s meant to take you back to the way the first game felt and give you an idea of what it means that the games classic scenery can be rendered in actual high quality detail now [same with the recurrence of events like encountering the space pirates in the asteroid belt/the last battle against a villain being singing to it about what it’s done wrong], but i really thought, like, report 1 was going to end up being a simulated scenario for the benefit of lou and kee’s training... which i dont think ended up being the case??? i think they really did write ‘ok here you are in the first game’s setting again, fighting the old enemies again, because... :^) ok have fun playing report 2!’

and then whats report 2... you fight another old boss from the first game... but theres Still no clear villain or motivation for anything thats happening... and there wont be until like... basically the end of the game...

like, glitter is a really cute character, but its kind of underwhelming that shes just a random citizen who was kidnapped by an entity that we NEVER LEARN ANYTHING ABOUT... like part 1 was extremely notable for being about corporate greed and corruption, part 2 honestly wasnt that political in comparison but at least made you do a think wrt purge’s motivation and his methods, and this game just has a plot device that feels like it’ll do smth but then ends up not doing anything beyond what we already learned about it from the information on its character bio before the game was out. if it turns out that cell x is actually relevant again in a future entry in the franchise and they do have a more developed concept for what cell x Is in mind, i’ll do an entire backflip, but for now its just chalked up to being the result of More Space Hijinks that dont need to be explained

ESPECIALLY WITH ALL OF THE ALLUSIONS TO CELL X BEING AN ENTITY THAT FEEDS OFF OF DANCE ENERGY... it had me thinking that there would have to be some New Method of fighting it off that didn’t just lend it more power in the process, but nah apparently just tacking on the disclaimer ‘*this dance energy is not for glitter’ is enough to turn it from smth it can consume for power into big attacks you can use to kill it... like honestly it sounds like im asking for a lot from a game that has Never made too much sense, but considering that in part 2 they could add details like ‘oh didnt you know purge can open pocket dimensions? ulala is capable of manifesting tangible dance energy and the only other person who can do that is purge???’, its not like they havent come up with weird new shit for dance energy to do within the plot before. they just didnt do it in this game fsr

like did anyone else think that cell x/glitter was going to be the result of tossing purge out into deep space and him encountering the sc5 universe’s equivalent of an eldritch alien creature, smth more bestial than morolians?? even if purge wasnt part of it, when you say ‘uh oh, this guy Eats this society’s only source of energy!!!’ i expect the stakes to get HIGH, and i want the ramifications of it to be kinda STARTLING, because blank wanted money and purge wanted to ritualistically end the world but something this near to an ecological disaster that would force an entire paradigm shift hasn’t occurred yet in the series?? its totally new!!! there’s a lot they could do with this but OH DONT WORRY ABOUT IT EVERYONE ulala knows how to make dance energy kill cell x instead of feed it she’s got this we’re good no need to investigate more into all that

i can’t explain why the game is like this. and i dont expect grounding to address it in any meaningful way either. i’m sure they’re Aware of these complaints by now- the game reviewing community has Not been kind to sc5vr specifically due to all of these shortcomings [i didnt even touch on the issues with motion sensing and how many of the games mechanics were removed in favor of smth presumably easier to program yet much less satisfying, like Secret Moves just being mini quicktime events and Turning Your Ratings Into Stars just being replaced with the standard Three Strikes You’re Out method of scoring], but the pr team still seems very enthusiastic abt the game and is still promising dlc and potentially even more games in the series after this one- heres hoping that they’ll at least take these grievances to heart and consider making the experience not only more accessible [aka it will... go back to being a rhythm game with controller input.... and not... an exclusive vr experience...], but also as immersive and detailed as the old games, with less reused plot beats. i can let some of it off the hook in this game simply because i’m aware that it began its life as a tech demo that was only supposed to be that initial first report from the first game But Happening All Around You!, but i Really dont think they could get away with doing this little to expand upon the groundwork set by the first two games again. not with the way people remember part 2 being such a vast upgrade from part 1... the bar had been set so high that this just felt like a huge backslide into something even sillier and harder to take seriously than part 1 before we had any idea what kind of staying power the franchise would have as a hallmark of sega’s quirky antics. like... this game is what i think space channel 5 looks like to people who don’t understand the appeal of the first two games. and that scares me

but i guess for the most part, aside from wishing they had done more to revitalize the setting and the lore of the sc5 universe itself, im kind of glad it didnt do a lot to change the existing storylines the characters have kinda forged for themselves- here i was stressing out that they would pull out some plot development that would utterly and drastically change the way we talked abt the series for the rest of time, but so little happened and so little was added to the bank of sc5 lore that we can kind of all just carry on as usual and keep having the same headcanons we always had.

BUT!!! there ARE a lot of cute little details here and there that make the experience feel wholesome and like i said not an utter cashgrab- like so many of the character profiles referencing previous games [all of the references to npcs in this game being relatives of the npcs of the last games made me lose it] and how often ulala changes her expressions up and looks right at you and talks to you. the new music they wrote for the game also all slaps and everyones redesigns [if they got a redesign... rip pudding] are stunning

one of the most important things they did in this game was give a nice sort of Update to every character.... for example explaining that ulala isn’t a rookie reporter any more like she was in the first 2 games, that she’s moved up to being in charge of training new channel 5 reporters, and that while pudding is still somewhat stuck on her rivalry with ulala her career isn’t stagnant either, she was just cast in a romcom series as the lead... which is really nice considering how in the past she was portrayed as somewhat of a loser with almost no remaining fans left from her idol years

lore is revealed about eir, eir's lives, loki's power, sharena's character, the other world and then they rescue eir, kill death, go home ZEBZEB IS NOWHERE he is too smart to be anywhere near this book

BUT! someone, havent decided who, found out that while hel can kill the souls of the dead, eir can absorb them they are permanently eliminated and fuel her and someone, again, dont know who yet, started using her like a battery basically so this is what hel was draining from her this is why other world sharena and other world anna and bruno never show up theyve been PERMA permakilled

anyway i think that could be funa nice character building moment for teh askrans: do we accept this person who LITERALLY killed and absorbed the souls of our friends? we could also use that as a moment to ponder about what people in other worlds are, is there a main world, what are Heroes etc intsys could have used this to introduce a permadeath mode too, good use for all the leftover three and four stars just saying but anyway

Everyone’s favourite muscle man Enkidu!!

First impression: I had watched some pro-level UNIST matches and because Enkidu was everywhere I actually assumed he was really high tier, because why would everyone play the same character unless they were high tier? I also actually thought his design was a bit generic, like someone coming out of a Street Fighter or Tekken game.

Impression now: I now know why everyone plays Enkidu. It’s because he’s fucking awesome dslkfjdsg. It’s so hard to not love all the characters in UNIB and Enkidu is no exception. I love this badass fighter man!!

Favorite moment: In his chronicles mode when you find out that Enkidu actually controls very little EXS and his in-birth powers are comparatively very weak compared to the rest of the cast. As it turns out, Enkidu is just so fucking strong and proficient at martial arts, that he hardly even needs EXS to beat your ass. He uses it to enhance the strength of his strikes and the rest is pure skill and strength. What’s more is that it is because of his insane resolve and strength that he has very little EXS; the void that bit him could hardly pierce his vessel to allow EXS to enter. It’s just so awesome.

Idea for a story: Connected to the idea I had for Carmine’s story in another ask, but I want a story about Carmine joining Amnesia and becoming friends with Enkidu! At first Carmine acts like a bastard as usual and Enkidu is all “Yare yare daze…” then one day Carmine is complaining about how boring it is at Amnesia because of the lack of fighting. So Enkidu offers to spar with him and Carmine is all “Heh, are you sure? You’re gonna regret it you know” and of course Enkidu promptly shuts down his wild and aggresive fighting style. Carmine then gains a big sense of respect for Enkidu and his fighting skill, and the two become like a student and mentor pair of friends. Enkidu teaches Carmine all about how to fight effectively and how to be a true respectful fighter, although Carmine is still slow on learning the latter.

Unpopular opinion: Pretty much just going to repeat what I said about Gordeau with Enkidu, but no, Enkidu doesn’t want to get in with Hilda!! Anyone who spends enough time around her has any chance of romantic attraction destroyed after they realise how much of an airhead she is. Besides, even if Hilda wasn’t so haughty and dramatic, she isn’t Enkidu’s type. Enkidu would want a partner that values their physique and mind as much as he does, and someone who’s trying to become a rebirth doesn’t fit into that category at all.

Favorite relationship: It’s hard to pin-point just one, as Enkidu hasn’t been shown to have lots on one-on-one with any characters really, but I love his dynamic with Hilda. Hilda seems to constantly be trying to tease something out of Enkidu, figure out what his deal is, while Enkidu kind of just entertains all her antics as if he was babysitting a kid or something. My favourite example is when Hilda hosts a huge buffet at Amnesia celebrating their success and much fewer people than expected show up to her event. So when Enkidu arrives Hilda is so excited and she’s all like “Oh Enkidu! We have so much food, please help yourself! Go on, have more!” and Enkidu feels bad for this absolute buffoon but he also can’t help but find her endearing and so he’s like “I suppose I’ll have some more food even though I really shouldn’t over-eat… it’s just to make her feel happier.” Like, GOD, you are such a dad Enkidu.

Favorite headcanon: Enkidu lives in a private traditional Japanese Minka on his own. He has a large garden where he grows many plants and he takes great pride in the yard work he does to grow excellent food. He has just the absolute essential rooms in his house, and the rest of the space is dedicated to a large meditation room. Outside he has an open training area he spends much of his time in, and nearby his house is a long mountain walking trail he enjoys taking strolls on. The pay he gets from Amnesia is extremely generous but he doesn’t end up needing a very large portion of it. He just spends a small portion of it on things like good quality meat and incense, and gives the rest to charities and funding local facilities.

Azrael the Tyrant!

First impression: “Who IS this guy!? Why is flying around everywhere and slamming people his with coat and fists???”

Impression now: Still not anymore sure as to the answer of those earlier questions, but I do know that he’s an absolutely chaotic bastard.

Favorite moment: It’s gotta be in CF when Azrael goes through the whole deal of being in the embryo and then he meets Izanami and is like “You look pretty strong, I’m gonna punch the hell out of you” and then he realises he is physically incapable of killing her due to reasons outside of his control. So Izanami is like “How about this, you join me and punch certain people for me and in exchange I’ll let you have a punch-on with a literal god” and Azrael is like “Oh my god that’s the nicest thing anyone has ever told me. YOU’VE GOT A DEAL.”

Idea for a story: An AU-like story where Azrael joins forces with the good guys because he’s impressed with Kagura and Ragna’s abilities after the events of CP. Azrael would be like the “dangerous ally” sort of character who would be like a berserker you set loose in a locked room with only him and Terumi inside. Also throw in a moment about Azrael trying to be nice for the first time in his life when his allies invite him over to Hibiki’s buffet at the NOL HQ and treat him to some good food and drink.

Unpopular opinion: I’ve mentioned this before on this blog, but Azrael is probably my least favourite male character in BB. I know pretty much everyone loves him, but he sticks out like a sore thumb in the lore and world of Blazblue to me. We know very little about his backstory, why he’s as powerful as he is, why he wants to fight everyone aside from just “because I want to fight strong people”, and he accomplishes very little in the story and serves very little purpose. As with every other side character in CF, Azrael gets basically no development at all either, so we will never know the answer to any of these questions.

Favorite relationship: Connected to the ‘favourite moment’ part, but him and Izanami. It’s one of the most bizarre alliances in Blazblue and it’s like leading a rhinoceros forward with a carrot on a stick except the rhino is a ripped cannibal who wants to punch people. It’s a shame that nothing much comes of this alliance aside from Arcade modes where Azrael teleports in to punch random members of the cast, but it’s still cool and funny at the same time.

Favorite headcanon: While he may be a cannibal, Azrael still loves other dishes and is a big eater in general, whether meat or not. Nothing is quite as good as a barbecue with lots of meat, salads, and alcohol.

for the headcanon thing: medic & reaper

MedicA: what I think realistically-medic was heavily isolated as a child due to him being LGBT and jewish in wwii-era germany, the only human beings he interacted with were his parents [and his parents unconscious patients]. it shows very clearly with his complete social ineptitude, often mistaken for naivity B: what I think is fucking hilarious -medic wouldnt understand a subtle hint or a social cue if u beat him over the head with it. u think im exagerating for comedic effect but no. no. like i said he was isolated and basically cut off from human contact for years so he just like? never learned [that plus The Autism + The Mental Illnesses which make it even harder for him 2 understand shit]. before they were dating heavy made an offhanded comment about wanting to kiss medic and medic didnt realize the romantic connations of that. this is one example of thousandsC: what is heart-crushing and awful but fun to inflict on friends-very few of my hcs have gotten me the same chorus of ��FUCK YOU” as “medic dealt with a lot of trauma yeaaaars before joining the merc and found his own way of coping and dealing with it, he thought the worst was long over and he was past it all, and then he gets roped into working with cheavy and within weeks, years of recovery are destroyed as cheavy figures out his biggest weak point is his attachment to his birds, and uses that to his advantage, threatening harm to medic’s flock [and oftentimes demonstrating how serious he was] if medic didnt follow orders to a T; so by the end of his time with working with classic heavy, medic is much more of a nervous wreck, more prone to panicking, and even more protective of his birds than he was before, and it takes a lot of time and effort to slowly get past that”D: what would never work with canon but the canon is shit so I believe it anyway-medic is basically scout’s adoptive father and he loves them so much——-
