Warsaw Misto got this thing that after "Grizabella" he just kinda ignores Griz

Like he has a bit of a weird reaction then and later sure he points her out when she shows up but then just immediately fucks off. And his non reaction to Griz getting touched is just hilarious. And then he is the only one to completely ignore her and not go say hi. Well sorta, Alonzo also misses it cuz he's not on stage for Memory and comes back during "the journey", and then he and Misto bow to Old D and Griz. (Although I feel Misto is still ignoring Griz and that the bow is mostly to old D cuz well he did bow to him a couple of times during the show)

And today I was hit with memory of some character blurbs that some newspaper released, idk how and why, but Misto's went smth like "He's young. He expresses his feelings through dance. Sometimes he can see the clan's near and often dramatic future." And like they had to have gotten it from somewhere

So what if during "Grizabella" he just kinda binged the whole show, or at least Griz' arc and just been waiting for everyone else to catch up without spoiling it ? Or even just saw that she would be allowed back/chosen and simply decided not to interfere and let it play out ?

Phew honestly I'm glad to see I may not the only one whose first thought seeing the solicitations for those next issues was something like "oh god, please not this shit again" lmao

Although I think there are at least a few reasons to be a bit more hopeful this time around

Like it kind of makes more sense in this case he'd be looking for problems given his restlessness at being stuck in the past with no directive, he will hopefully at least partially be vindicated by the time Mimic is revealed, and of course it's not gonna get him completely ostracized by the rest of the cast

And yet, I still find that the most optimistic thought of all is like 'at least if they get it out of the way now, there'll be less temptation to do this yet again for future stories'

I recall being super excited a few months ago when we heard that Silver was going to be featured a lot more in upcoming stories.... and then that all just kind of went the Oh No Not Like This route when we got the solicits for #63 and 64, like you describe😅😅 I would agree that the whole "Silver is actively looking for problems and therefore leaps onto anything that seems the slightest bit odd" directive you describe makes sense, but it kind of already starts with the fact he is in a situation I feel he should not be in to begin with. Silver is simply not the kind of person who gets in the way of others' training, and especially not because he is oogling at and being starstruck about Whisper. Even more egregious because he could work with her just fine at the end of the Metal Virus saga! So then why is he suddenly back to being all amazed by Whisper when he is far more powerful than she is, has seen both her good and bad sides when it comes to her fighting style and personal life, and is on clear friendly terms with her? I'm not saying that you can't be inspired by friends, but the whole mysterious angle of the unknown Guardian Angel protecting him from afar in a war is all but gone now. Not even mentioning the fact that Silver is quite confident and smug about himself and his own abilities? And furthermore, since Duo appears on later covers, we know Silver is not going to be believed, in all various ways the others can tell that to him. So all that together is making it quite difficult for me to really get engaged in the plot of him accusing Duo and the resulting fallout to begin with. And the fact that the solicits literally say said fallout is going to be awkward... It makes me not look forward to the story at all, basically. I don't like seeing my favourite character be ridiculed due to him being highly OoC and said ridicule then not even leading to anything until much later. And as for whether he'll be vindicated, I am not getting my hopes up much. Indeed, the most optimistic scenario I can get from it all is the fact it'll be one-and-done now and therefore likely won't return, but I truly would rather it wouldn't be done to begin with.

#I know there is a whole debate about Silver and his personality in IDW and I am firmly on the “he gets uwu-fied too much on occasion” side #he's got quite a few moments where he is great and you really see just how powerful and driven to protect he is!! #but sadly there's just as many‚ if not more‚ moments where he's far too much bby cutie cinnamon roll enthusiastic silly boyo #an IC Silver simply would not go *literally* starry-eyed with a beaming smile and enthusiastically-clenched fists when a means to collect- #-the Emeralds to stop the Metal Virus gets revealed #I simply don't want Silver to be a cringe-worthy failure who doesn't get taken seriously by anyone else when we KNOW he is right #yes he jumps to conclusions but I dread the way the comic is going to present that and the way it's going to have the other characters reac #we'll see when issue 63 and 64 get released I guess... #silver the hedgehog

Does it feel like life is permanently set to extreme hard mode and I still feel super crappy greater than 90% of the time? Yup. But! Emboldened by our relative success with last year's tomatoes, we have given it another go and have added a little pepper plant friend for them. :)

I completely agree! I'm glad you don't mind at least, but of course, it's totally natural to be predisposed to liking what you end up liking. I think that's gonna happen no matter what and it's not something that ever needs to be suppressed. There are very obvious patterns in my favorite characters and pairings for a reason lol

Same! I'm very selective as well, so a fic that stands out that much is always gonna be one for the books. I'm thrilled the language barrier didn't get in the way. The scene at the park GETS ME like the way Jo just knows that it's gonna eat away at Masato and does his best to accommodate instead of dragging him straight home like bro😭😭

I've always wanted to know what differs in Jo's and Arakawa's "parenting styles" that made Masato have such a clear "favorite," and maybe it's things like that that build up. ALSO AGREE on the drama theme in Confession, there's a bit of that in Y7 as-is so it was a great choice to hone in on and highlight it.

I knew you'd say that haha, but I think my subconscious simply understands that if I'd trust anyone with AraSawa, it's you. YEAHYEAH it especially felt great since like. Jo seeing Masato cry about not being able to walk was of course what got him back into his life, so it was nice to loop back to that and instead of Jo not being able to do anything like the first time, he go to be there for him now ;;

On the topic of parenting styles though, I'm genuinely surprised I haven't let slip any of my personal notes about how they parent Masato- or at least how I've speculated they parent him (of course we see how Masumi takes care of him more, so the 'speculation' part more so lies on Jo's end since obviously we didn't get to see it as explicitly). I actually thought of writing up a post about their parenting styles, but I thought I'd be repeating a lot of points we went over uu;;

Even if I might not ever write a fic, I'm glad that I've gotten the mark of approval for AraSawa interpretations (I guess my silly comics are the closest to written fics huh lmao)!

This is why I said this isn’t going to be a healthy relationship that lasts. Pleng is going to start hiding things from Yi because the second that there is a possible issue, Yi shuts down and Pleng is just going to learn to keep things from Yi to keep him happy and that is not how communication works.

Unfortunately the final boss fight against my enthralled superpowered character went really badly (for the rest of the party) and one party member is dead, one was plane shifted to the realm of a hostile god, one fled into a battle-enmeshed city, and one is like “????????????”

I didn’t want to be enthralled and I’m not sure what’s going to happen now, since my character is very difficult to defeat now. :(
