no title, just a little thing i wrote up just now bc i had the idea
takes place roughly around book 5-75, replacing the scene where yuu goes to look for grim. mild content warning for an injury but it's not too graphic i dont think
~
The sky is black and grey with the remains of storm clouds; the streets are glassy like mirrors, made as such by the sudden downpour of rain during the evening and all throughout the night. Reflected in the slick stone tiles is the magical flame from the streetlamps, setting the ground ablaze with harsh light.
Yu pays all of this little mind as he dashes across campus, his sneakers already soaked through the soles. The cold hardly bothers him—it doesn’t stand a chance when his anxiety is already gnawing away at him.
[ x1 Blot Crystal remains at the coliseum. ]
If the blot crystal remains at the Purple Stage, it won’t be found until after the Culture Fair—and if so, it will continue to affect visitors to the end of the event. Yu is far from a saint, but after bearing witness to five separate overblots, he refuses to run any risks.
He has to get to that crystal, and hide it with all the others. And soon.
After what feels like too long, he finally reaches the coliseum. The gates are closed, almost mockingly so, but that’s fine—they’re not too tall, so without too much overthinking, Yu manages to scale them and end up free on the other side. As soon as he does, he pushes his freezing feet and hurries to the stage.
[ Set tracker to find target object? ]
“Yes, please,” mutters Yu, feeling jittery. While he waits for the tracker to activate, he looks around in short, shivering jerks of his head.
[ USER is 10m from Blot Crystal. ]
And so begins the game of hot and cold pursuit—relying on the tracker, Yu searches desperately for the latest blot crystal, even as he has to zip up his pitifully thin jacket and rub his chilled hands together through his gloves. But he refuses to give up, strangely motivated by some reason.
Until he finally finds it.
[ USER is 0m from Blot Crystal. ]
Thank fuck, he thinks, forcing a hand through the foundations of the stage and blindly grabbing until his grip connects with a rock-like object. One numbly painful extrication later, he has the blot crystal in his hands. It’s almost identical to the others, but with a distinct sickeningly saccharine scent, and a violet hue around the edges.
And, disturbingly, it feels warm through Yu’s gloves. No, not warm—warm would describe the feeling of Riddle’s crystal, with the lingering effect of his overpowering fire spells. This feels more like—like—
At the same time that Yu becomes aware of his palm being corroded to rawness, his head is assaulted by an acute feeling of painful dizziness. He gasps and drops the crystal, hearing it sizzle menacingly all the way down, and tears off what remains of his glove. The cold air stings where it touches the now-exposed skin of his palm, an angry red. Veiny lines of black start to stretch outwards from the edges of the corrosion.
[ DEBUFF ACQUIRED — Fairest Poison: -1 HP every second until medical intervention or unconsciousness. Increased dizziness, nausea, and shortness of breathing. ]
[ DEBUFF ACQUIRED — Blot Exposure (Lvl. 2): USER will begin to experience lightheadedness and other symptoms of sickness. Max HP is reduced by 20 points. ]
[ BLOT METER: 30/100 … 38/100 … 46/100 … ]
[ HP: 68/80 … 67/80 … 66/80 … ]
“What the fuck?” asks Yu aloud, because his head hurts too much to think right now. “Why does the crystal have poison on it—oh, who am I kidding, it was V—”
He staggers, losing his sense of balance as pain blooms in his head again. It throbs again, then, so intensely that his vision blacks out for a moment. More and more notifications pop up in his peripheral, but he can’t read what they say.
“Ughh…”
Yu sways dangerously when he tries to take a step forward, losing control of his body for a frankly terrifying amount of seconds. When the coordination partially comes back to him, he tries to continue, but his head hurts even more, and—
Suddenly he’s on his knees. When did that happen?
“Gotta at least… get someone to help,” he mutters, shaking his head to try and clear the dizziness. It doesn’t work. And then, placing his damaged hand on his knee, he tries to stand up but immediately hisses in pain. “Shit—I just need to—”
Out of the corner of his eye flashes the biggest notification so far:
[ WARNING: HP is low. Fainting imminent. ]
“—get outta… here…”
The ground seems to come up to meet him. Yu’s eyes slip shut, and he experiences the peace of one’s senses vanishing.

For the ask game, would you do Gilraen and Gil-Galad, please?
Oh, great choices, these are fun
Gilraen
Sexuality Headcanon: She identifies as straight, but bi would probably be more accurate because she has had a few short-lived crushes on genders other than male
Gender Headcanon: Cis woman, but she does gender on her own terms
A ship I have with said character: Arathorn because I am basic like that
A BROTP I have with said character: ELROND AND I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT'S NOT A FANDOM FAVORITE. Aragorn, of course. Just... Rivendell in general. And the Dunedain in general even more strongly.
A NOTP I have with said character: I have never actually seen it in the wild, but Elrond, if I ever find it
A random headcanon: She's absolutely spectacular at astronomy and meteorology. One of the main ways she grounds herself through her many tragedies is by keeping a journal where she notes the placement of the stars at night and the weather during day.
General Opinion over said character: I love her and find her very underrated. In particular, I find it a shame many people seem to assume she would have a bland, nondescript motherly personality when her personality seems to be very strong and unique given the little we know about her
Gil-galad
Sexuality Headcanon: First of all, he is married to his job. Secondly: sex-favorable ace, pan-demiromantic and he finds that very distressing (should he try to be convincing himself to find himself a spouse, for the sake of PR??? Heirs at least can be adopted if necessary, but spouses?????)
Gender Headcanon: You know when you have an internet friend who disappears off the face of the internet one day and you just hope they are fine? One such friend of mine once proposed male-presenting, enby-identifying intersex Gil-galad and I think it's brilliant for a myriad of reasons
A ship I have with said character: I've had a thing for the concept of Gil-galad/Celebrimbor for many years, but besides that, I would say I tend not to ship Gil-galad to anyone.
A BROTP I have with said character: The whole White Council + Elros (briefly), Celebrian, Celebrimbor and Elendil. Occasionally, I brotp ship him and other characters too, but these are the main ones. Oh, Elwing, sometimes, depending on my mood.
A NOTP I have with said character: None? I mean, Elrond, I guess, but it's less "I can't stand it" and more "you'll have to do a lot of work to sell me on it"
A random headcanon: Super controversial but: I headcanon he fits the criteria for clinical anxiety, which is fairly rare, statistically speaking, among elves (depression on the other hand is over-represented.) And because the world isn't perpetually on fire in the Second Age, he actually gets accommodations for it for much of his reign (war makes things... difficult. For everyone.)
General Opinion over said character: I'm one of the five people on the internet who literally doesn't care who Gil-galad's parents are (meaning, any option can work for me with very little work). But putting that aside, I agree with the fandom: he's a fascinating character and should get more fanon content to make up for the very little canon we get

the biggest challenge on debating climate change and global warming is coming up with the best understandable analogy.
because we humans have been fixated with lifetime metrics, visible, audible, tactile, odoriferous, etc and so it took human civilization centuries to accept science, celestial things, and in fact, climate.
basically, for however long the human civilizations have existed, let it be greater than 10k years or 5k years, human race had only just started to truly appreciate meteorology since maybe 30 years after the invention of jet airplanes. sue me if you think i'm not precise or accurate about the meteorology or jet airplanes.
for sure, we could not possibly study anything in the upper atmosphere until the introduction of aviation. therefore, at the risk of sounding like i'm a climate change denier apologist, human civilizations, despite of continuing progress, we have actually been historically, brace yourself, dumb as fuck (and double whammied with crazy as fuck in believing the invisible "man" in the sky wants us to ignore climate change).
do the math. at 5k years, we're like 50 over 5,000 years as 1/100 intelligent, which means we're 99% historically fucking stupid. lol.
we could give a discount for the earliest 4,500 years because human civilizations were not yet on track to continuous technology advancement, guess what, 50 over 500, still makes us 90% stupid, as fuck. lol
you do the math if we count from 10k ago. anyway, i digressed for too long. threats of climate change can be as distant as our solar system turning into a blackhole, however, the whole thing is about the invisible thing in life-air.
we are doing things to earth's atmosphere on an unprecedented scale. and we don't need empirical evidence to prove it, or al gore's movie, the inconvenient truth, or greta thunberg to give us a sense of urgency.
just check out the great dust bowl of 1930. i'm leave it to you all to learn about it. human did not cause the draught of 1930, but human caused the dust bowl because of over farming. and it was all caused by texans and they're fucking doing it again with global warming.
human effect on climate change is like playing jenga, like leaking stove gas in a window-shut house. game over when the whole thing falls. it will not be gradual. it cannot be remedied within a few years.
it's not even refutable or even unknown to human history. the fact that we know different regions on earth have different climate and seasons, we inherently understand that slightest differences in weather is all the reason why we choose to live one place or another or adhere to different survival practices. we know. we all know. we have always known.

If it's not too much trouble, do you mind telling us what the winx's/main boys'/trix's/possibly other character's REAL-LIFE college majors would be? You don't have to do this if it's too much, but I love your re-imagining of the series and was just curious!
i….. still dont understand college so idk how accurate these will be
Bloom: BA in art
Stella: BA in fashion design and a minor in business
Flora: double major BS in Pharmacology and Toxicology, BS in Molecular Plant Biology
Aisha: went in for a basic management degree switched to a BS in Dance Therapy and physical rehabilitation
Tecna: BS in computer and mechanical engineering, eventually a masters in technology.
Musa: BA in music theory and composition
Sky: BS in accounting bcus its what his dad wants him to get
Brandon: BS in Homeland Security (which is apparently a type of degree???? who knew)
Helia: another art degree but this time its a BA in 3D art
Nabu: BS(probably??) in Public Administration that he dropped out of in his second year and went to international school to escape his parents expectation. eventually got a BS in  Environmental Science cus i think he would be big on conservationism
Nex: Trade school babeyyyyy!! Nex is a park ranger, and works as a welder in the off season.
Timmy: combo trade school, electrician,  and classic college, BS in computer science.
Riven: riven honestly probably would have gone straight into the military in irl, but for the sake of this prompt lets say he went to college of some kind, probably a BS in criminal justice and into the police force?
Icy: weirdly i could see her being a dentist????
Stormy: irl stormy would work for part of the year and then go storm chasing, so like a BS in Meteorology over the course of a few years.
Darcy: BS in Psychology so she can gaslight people more effectively (a bs in bitchology)

Hey I have a question so I live in Wylie TX so Central Texas we normally get hit a little bit like just the edge of the storm I'm guessing it won't be that way this time.... How bad will central Texas be hit and will the two lakes that I'm like right smack in the middle of be a problem... I'm just confused because this is a new situation and we don't have tornados often because of the lakes. (Also unrelated note this is the worst possible time for my dog to have a bladder stone and UTI)
So my askbox ate this until today for some reason, which makes my response criminally late... but, I'm afraid I wouldn't really have known too well anyway. I haven't lived in this part of the US for most of my life and so I'm not familiar with the geography or the weather patterns outside of the part of Arkansas where I live.
Sometimes, that gives me an advantage, cause when the weather service says shit's gonna be bad, I believe them. Others, it's a curse.
Even though it's painfully belated, I do have a bit to offer generally speaking, that should hopefully help in the future.
Even if your house wouldn’t be reached by floodwaters (like if it's on a hill or other elevelated ground), you would have to consider whether floodwaters could leave you trapped, potentially without power. It looks like those lakes are miles apart, so I would imagine that they wouldn't be likely to merge or anything, but I have no real idea of the elevation of the land between them, or how they tend to flood.
As for the severity of incoming storms... get a weather app with a doppler radar and look at it often. Follow the projected paths of storms and weather systems and compare that to where they actually go. Weatherman can be wrong. Computer models can be wrong, often because local geography/topography affects weather in ways that are difficult to account for in a simulation. Computer models have difficulty predicting storm paths where I live due to a "mountain" (just a tall, very wide hill, really) to the west of me, for example. But you can learn your local weather patterns by observation and get a feel for what a storm looks like on approach if it's gonna be a big one, or where/if storms tend to be deflected by local geography.
I use the weather channel app (which sucks, but its doppler works well enough for me), as it shows both the past path of the storm as well as the predicted path, but there are far better ones out there. My boss swears by Weather Underground, which (if I understand it correctly) is more of a grassroots thing that uses a network of weather stations in the yards of millions of private citizens. It generally has the most complete, accurate, and specific real-time weather data (for my area, at least).
As for tornadoes... there's no shame in that being new and unfamiliar, and thus a little frightening. I don’t know if there are tornado sirens in your town, but be listening for those if a tornado watch has been issued for your area.
A tornado watch means the conditions are right for a tornado, a tornado warning means there is a tornado. (I like the Cupcake mnemonic: Cupcake watch means the ingredients are on the countertop, and a cupcake warning means the cupcakes have come out of the oven/there are cupcakes on he countertop). Monitor your local weather service and, when a tornado watch is issued, you should be ready to shelter at the sound of a siren or the issuing of a warning.
If either of those things happens, it is time to bunker down. Go to your basement or, failing that, an inner room with no windows on the first floor (if possible/in a house), preferably a bathroom (the plumbing is supposed to anchor and support the walls, provide better protection) and wait it out.
Generally, bodies of water have a stabilizing effect on weather. I believe that effect is somewhat dampened in the context of large storm systems though, but I don't know enough about meteorology to be sure. There may be an elevated area, such as a ridge or large hill, that shields your town from the worst part of most incoming storms (as is the case with the town where I live as well as the one where my family lives). That's something you could better determine by watching the doppler and comparing the behavior of weather patterns to, say, a topography map. Or people say things like "the ridge keeps tornadoes from getting here" or something like (although I'd be careful to make sure and note which direction such a feature shields you from). Notably, bodies of water do not stop tornadoes! That is a very dangerous myth, and I just had to look it up to make sure. Tornadoes form due to rotation that starts high up near/in the clouds and then stretches down, and so they don't really care what happens near their feet. Never believe anyone who says a body of water will stop a tornado.
When deciding whether or not to shelter, use discretion. I'm more careful about tornadoes than a lot of people who've lived in the south their whole lives, and they think I'm silly to hunker down because a tornado is in the next town over, but I'd rather make someone overly cautious than get them hurt. And I'd rather hide from 99 tornadoes that never get close than end up not hiding from the one that does.
I hope that you and yours are safe and came through the storm no worse for the wear. I am truly so, so very sorry that I'm answering this so very late.
Also, is your doggo alright? Do they know that I, and at least half the internet, love them implicitly? Do they know that they're a good dog?

A sailing class ? That sounds pretty fun ! Is it a impulse decision or have you been thinking about this for a long time ? (If you don't mind me asking)
Nah, not impulsive. I provide forecasting for yachts worldwide with my job. Some of our boats are also sailboats. it’s important to know how sailboats function in different types of winds (angles/speeds/direction..... etc) in order to accurately interpret their expected speed, and accurately predict weather conditions they would expect. Meteorology is fascinating in the fact that if a vessel is even 15 miles away from where we think they are, they can be experiencing extremely different weather conditions then forecast. Taking a sailing class will help me learn, in real time, about these parameters for sailing and help me better understand how these types of vessels perform in winds. When all is said and done it will help me forecast more accurately for sailboats. At least, I hope that’s what it will do.
