Hello! I Just wanted to let you know that I LOVED the published ver. of "Don't Shoot the Messenger". And I was so excited to hear that Dale and Sana's story might get published too.

At first I was really unsure about getting the book, as I didn't want to be disappointed if the changes made didn't translate well compared to the original. BUT YOU KNOCKED MY EXPECTATIONS RIGHT OUT OF THE WATER!! IT WAS SO GOOD!!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm so excited for your future projects. And I wish you luck on your future publishing endeavours because I will be buying all future published books by you. And no one can stop me haha >:D

I also wanted to ask if there's a chance that any of your other previous works will also be published? Of course it's a huge effort of time and resources to publish something. But I do hold out hope that I might one day hold Heshi's story in my hands because truthfully it's such a comfort to me and I go back to it periodically to reread. I love that snakey boi. NO PRESSURE THO. If that's not in the cards, just the fact that it exists as a story is wonderful. Thank you so much for all the writing you do.

Dale and Sana's story definitely will be self-published,its just a matter of when. it's also probably gonna get more tweaks than DSM due to the length and the way the story evolved over 2 years lol

As for previous short stories that getting published, the answer is yes, i do have plans to publish them as well, they're just a lower priority for multiple reasons. firstly, me and everyone wants NWWD the most so its #1.

For 'Finally Woken' i actually already have the first 2 chapters converted to 3rd POV, however, its shorter than DSM and so would cost nearly as much to have edited but would sell for less (and amazon will try to tell me the spine is too narrow lol) so my current thoughts are to bundle it with 'Selfish' (helpfully already in 3rd person) and make a Naga Novella (called like 'Tangled Up in Tails' or something lol) with both of them in it so i can release it priced similarly to DSM.

For 'Sacrifice', i actually have plans to make that a 5 novella series about different forgotten deities returning to the same town, with 'Sacrifice' likely being offered as a cheaper, first book about a month or so before the second is published to get people into the series. the rest of the novellas would likely not go up on tumblr/AO3 at all and would only be published. i'd like to use this hypothetical series to see how that sort of model would work for me. i've planned out the 5 novellas to some extent but nothings really written yet besides 'Sacrifice'. as a complete project, its very low on my list after everything i'll b posting here and NWWD publishing, so since 'Sacrifice' is tied to that, its not likely to get published anytime soon.

For 'Snapped', i'd likely do something similar to 'Finally Woken' - write another short Sci-Fi/Alien story and bundle them together for publishing. However, i dont currently have anything written that would work so that's also a low priority evn if 'Snapped' is already 3rd POV.

I'm really excited to self-publish my work, but its expensive and what I've made from DSM has come nowhere close to covering my costs and likely won't. the only good thing is basically all the costs are up-front so its easy to jsut keep the books out there and making money when ppl buy it. i have a good job and am happy to spend my money to get my work out there and hope over time self-publishing will break-even, but that will take years at a minimum so it'll be slow going in the beginning.

my goal is to get everything self-published so it'll just be a matter of time - i too want to hold a copy of Heshi's story in my hands lol

I am afraid that my question could be a little negative one.

I want to ask your opinion about Wakana’s high note.

Listening to her performances of “Yakusoku no Yoake” on “Wakana Calassic 2022” and “Wakana Winter Special live 2019”, I hear her high note in the beginning of the song “まだ暗い空から( mada kurai sora kara)～” really grating though it is so sorry.

Not only it sounds grating or too shrill but I feel that her high note has something wrong, and it is disappointing that the problem seems not to be temporary thing.

I know some people says her high note is grating or shrill from when she started her solo career.

I guess this is due to her Kalafina era where she had been burdened with successive use of high note and it had worn out her throat. If it was correct, I could not say how disappointing this is.

How do you feel when listening to the part?

Don't worry, you phrased your question in a perfectly respectful manner, nothing bad about that at all. I apologise though for taking so long to reply. I wanted to do this justice.

Melody/composition-wise, "Yakusoku no Yoake" is actually one of my favourite tracks from Wakana's debut album (the Celtic vibes are just so gorgeous) but I agree that it is a very demanding song that is unfortunately not very flattering for her voice. There are certain parts that are either too high or too fast-paced for her so she often sounds out of breath or strained during these sections. Her breathing is pretty loud and noticeable so people who are not into that should give this song a pass. While you could argue that her non-existent breathing technique is almost part of her charm and trademark style, it's one of those times where it bothers me quite a bit. It truly baffles me that none of her mentors, producers, teachers or instructors have ever pointed out those issues (and possible solutions) to Wakana during the 20+ years of her singing activities.

I find it very interesting that you chose the very first part of the song as the one that sounds most grating to your ears => “まだ暗い空から (mada kurai sora kara)～”

In my opinion, the intro is one of the better parts with Wakana managing to have moderate control of her voice. Not always of course but I think she sounds decent during most live performances. Ultra high of course but not unpleasant to my ears yet. The chorus is where she struggles most if you ask me (probably due to the higher tempo). The "hikatta" for example in the first line of the chorus, "あの向こうで光った", is a little too shrill for me. And then it just builds up for the remainder of the chorus, I really struggle listening to the following section: [...] 行ければいい | [...] ikereba ii 明日へ進む道に | Ashita e susumu michi ni 飛び込んで [...]| Tobikonde yukou [...]

I thought I'd include her three officially released live performances in this post to give everyone an idea what we are talking about. It's the first time I am inserting audio with the new Tumblr format so we'll see how it goes. Please note that I have no music education to speak of so everything you read below is based on my personal feelings regarding the individual performances.

Wakana Live Tour 2019 ～VOICE～

During her early stages of performing this song live, she seemed a bit rushed? I guess she was trying to emulate the original sound of the studio version but I prefer it when she takes her time (especially during the intro). I am glad they slowed down the tempo for some of the later performances. However, I thought the performance was actually quite good. Yes, she doesn't sound 100% comfortable in the higher registers but I can honestly still enjoy it. It's not damaging my eardrums or anything. And for the most part her singing comes across as more or less effortless, not too flimsy or strained, yes, it's unnecessarily breathy but it sounds relatively stable to me

Wakana Winter Special Live 2019 ～瞬き～

This is probably my favourite live version of "Yakusoku no Yoake". The reduced tempo seems to allow her to polish a couple of those super high notes. It's still far from being perfect but it feels like she is not constantly in need of catching her breath.

Wakana Classics 2022 ～Christmas Special～

Maybe the weakest performance. Her voice is pretty shaky and thin, I'm sure some of that can be chalked up to nervousness but a lot of it might be due to a bad technique.

As I've mentioned in my review post for "Sono Saki e", Wakana keeps talking about all the vocal lessons she's taking but they don't seem to be doing her any good, if anything I would say they are actually making things worse for her. I have never been one of the people who have complained about Wakana's voice essentially deteriorating ever since 2012, I acknowledge of course that certain changes have taken place but overall, she has continued to sound good to me, sometimes more so than other times. There are more than enough occasions where she can access facets of her voice that are reminiscent of the "old-Wakana", with her singing sounding strong, rich and emotional. This indicates to me that the potential is still there, buried somewhere deep inside her but for whatever reason, Wakana doesn't always rely on those skills. It could be a conscious choice to spare her voice or maybe she just doesn't receive enough professional guidance...? There's no doubt in my mind that Kalafina's brutal schedule has taken a major toll on her throughout the years but unlike many other fans, I don't think she is a lost cause with irreversibly damaged vocals...

Monday Updates 11.29.21

So I know I've been quiet but I've got a fantastic excuse! Well not so much as an excuse as I've been up to my neck in projects. Anyone who has been around since the beginning knows that I can be a slow poke but this time, I've been putting in work.

Starting with my collab with SM and Blue; I don't want to spoil too much here but lets just say Santa is close than you think! And after sorting out sims and renders, he'll be even closer!

After that, this isn't really sims related but my second life endeavors have been doing somewhat well! I got into my very first event! The December Round eBODY's Reborn event! Yay!

Like I said, this isn't really sims related but I've been thinking of what I'll do with my Flickr when I become Cupid! I was thinking that maybe I'll make an album for my MISSME promo images so I can keep it in a time capsule of sorts. I might be rebranding but I don't wanna forget my roots. Just like how I just can't seem to shake the fact that I was once named "Chocolaty Nugget" back in 2015. Now you can't either, hehe~!

Next up are the projects I've been working on under the Cupid name! I have about 4 or 5 made up so far. I've been trying to nail down substance painter as of late and needless to say, I've been experimenting! I've finally worked out how to...(semi) properly use the program and it's giving me very "pretty results".

I'm not too great at writing butttttt,,,I can admit that I haven't been making cute little characters and story-lines in my head xD

I've really been trying to go for this mystical look and I think I've been doing an alright job capturing it. I also made another render, which is currently my patreon banner, for what might be Cupid's head-quarters. Not sure yet, heheh~

Re: vers/switch- last year I went through the emotional whiplash of finding out switch is associated with kink now. It was freaky because I'm heavily closeted and like ... how much am I saying is kink-coded and outs me before I even say anything? I don't like this trend of not only dni banners that I feel compelled to follow but now there's practically a "how to spot a dirty queer" guide for anti-kinksters? I don't even scene! Yet I don't feel safe at all, and I'm worried for my friends that do

Switch still isn’t actually universally associated with kink. That’s a tumblr and twitter neologism. Vers is still primarily popular among young gay men (the under 35s), and switch is still popular with everyone the fuck else.

This is, honest to god, just a new manifestation of the same old language policing that sees people called racist for saying they’re in a poly relationship, that they have and NB gender.

It’s a way of demanding conformity.

You saying you’re a switch doesn’t out you as being interested in kink even to these dumb, dumb motherfuckers propagating this bullshit misinformation campaign.

Every time one of them comes at me about calling myself switch, they never think I mean it as a kink thing, even though I’m pretty open about being a kinkster.

They always come at me with suffocating “kindness” and “generosity” and “friendly reminder” “just an FYI” “I’m sure you didn’t mean that” bullshit.

The literally acknowledge that “switch” is used by non-kinky people and in non-kinky situations by virtue of those assumptions. But then they insist that they have the One True Queer Language and that I need to change myself to conform to their stupid bullshit standards.

What I’m getting at here, underneath all of my absolutely frothing rage and churning incoherence?

You’re fine. Calling yourself a switch is mostly just going to get over-eager language police on your tail, and not out you as anything.

If in doubt, any time someone slaps you with the “don’t you mean vers lmao switch is for BDSM” thing, you go ahead and let them know that no: switch just didn’t come from men, and vers is literally used exactly as often as switch in kink.

(And yes, that line of argument does ignore the entire overlap between the queer and kinky communities, because the kinds of peopel who ever-so-sweetly remind you that you’re not allowed to determine things for yourself are also the ones who hate kink so much they’d rather die than admit that the modern queer rights we love today came on the backs of kinksters, sex workers, and deviants.)

No stress when answering! Answer whenever you have the time. :) Oohh I don't watch many jdramas (I really should though) so I'll definitely look up Kikazaru Koi ni wa Riyuu ga Atte. The synopsis sounds cute~! I saw Be Melodramatic via gifs here on tumblr and I think I'll save it for when I want a good cry. I LOVED Into the Ring! Nana and Park Sung Hoon were ridiculously adorable and healthy and adorable together. Their chemistry was sooo gooood!

hmm... from the top of my head the dramas that I would like to rec. are...

The Crowned Clown: It's the drama ver. of the film Masquerade. The drama has dark and really heavy themes especially in the first two episodes but it's sooo good. Yeo Jin Goo and Lee Se Young and the rest of the cast are amazing in this drama. Also, the PD for Vincenzo also directed this drama too! It's one of my top fav historicals.

Extraordinary You: Like you for Run On, the drama aired when I was having a hard time and helped me come out of a funk. I related to the character Dan Oh so much. Her character, fighting to make her own decisions when her whole world was against her really hit me.

20th Century Boy and Girl: I feel like this is such an underrated romcom gem. It has Han Ye Seul and Kim Ji Suk as leads. They're soooo cute in this drama! I really recommend it if you're looking for a cute binge watch. If you want to watch a good thriller/horror I would recommend watching Midnight Mass on Netflix. I just finished the series and wow it was really good!

Are there any genres you tend to avoid?

I don't watch many jdramas either but I've LOVED the few ones I've seen so I'd like to watch more jdramas! And yayyy an Into the Ring fan!! I'm glad that you loved it too!

It's very funny that you ask what genres I tend to avoid..... because I always avoid thrillers and horror stuff 😭 I prefer character-based stories but thrillers are plot-based so I avoid them because I know I will probably be bored watching it. As for horror, I want to enjoy it but I'm such a scaredy-cat and get very anxious easily! So I avoid it because I know it will makes me feel bad. When it comes to kdramas, I don't watch sageuks. I actually love European period dramas but I know very little about Korean history so I'm afraid of not understanding sageuks enough to enjoy them... But I've started watching Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung last year and I've loved it!! I know this one is not very accurate but it's so light and easy that it can be a nice gateway to sageuks!

I've heard very little of The Crowned Clown but it sounds so great! I'm adding it to my watchlist! I don't think I'll watch it anytime soon because of the reasons I've mentioned before but it's so intriguing so I don't want to forget about this one!

I've been intrigued by Extraordinary You since it came out!!! The plot seemed so cool but I wasn't sure if I'd like it because it's set in a school... I've made my mind now and I've added it to my watchlist as well! I hope I'll get to watch it soon!

I've actually seen 20th Century Boy and Girl!!! But I haven't finished it yet... My toxic trait is that I never finish watching the shows I like... I think I only have like 6 episodes left?? I need to watch those last eps because I need that serotonin boost. I totally get why you like this drama, it's such a cute romcom! (If anyone who's not my Secret Valentine is reading this: go watch 20th Century Boy and Girl!). Thanks for the reminder, I need to binge the last episodes!

I politely asked a fellow Baby on tumblr to please not cuss out other Babyz for "not doing enough" and failing to get a win for BAP. I thought she would at least tone it down but instead she began to attack me, implying that I don't care about BAP and that I was a terrible fan when I have been voting and streaming non-stop. In my entire time as a Baby, I never met someone in the fandom this ugly and it really hurt and discouraged me. I could really use some encouraging words from another Baby.

I’m sorry you had an experience like that :( I can understand where the person is coming from, because it can be frustrating to see so many people whine about B.A.P being “underrated” and “slept on” and that people “need to stan them” and that they “deserve to win” etc etc, yet disappear when it actually comes to supporting them through voting and streaming and buying the album. However, attacking other fans achieves nothing positive, and in fact, only does the opposite of what the person wants to see.

The only thing someone needs to do to be a fan is to like B.A.P and/or their music! That’s literally it! Not everyone has the money to buy an album or a melon pass, or has the time to stream on youtube and vote constantly. That being said, if everyone at least did something that they could do (ie had the money or time to do of course), then we’d make a big impact! For example: the mv on youtube (tsent ver.) has 117k likes. If 100,000 of those people who liked the mv (which makes them fans! you don’t need to be a full-on devoted fan to be a fan in general) streamed the mv even an average of 3 times a day, we’d increase the views by 300,000 each day! 

Of course, not everyone has time, and not everyone knows about the importance or rules of streaming. But I’ve definitely seen some improvement! I’ve seen loads of people ask about how to stream properly, and I’ve had messages asking me how else they could help if they didn’t have the means to stream on melon. I sincerely hope nobody is embarrassed or shy to ask how to help if they want to! In all honesty, I’ve been a fan of B.A.P since No Mercy era, and a devoted fan since One Shot, but I only understood how to vote and stream on youtube during Carnival era, and how to stream on melon during Noir era! Heck, I’m still learning how to do things: I only just realised you can vote more than ten times a day for M Countdown a few weeks ago! It’s ok that we’re not all experts on how to support B.A.P; there are people and resources out there to teach us if we do want to learn how.

Please don’t be discouraged! You say you’ve been streaming and voting non-stop: thank you so much for your efforts! We really shouldn’t be turning on one another: we’re already a small fandom compared to other groups, so we should be minimising the drama and the negativity, and focusing on uniting to achieve good things. That’s what B.A.P would want, and that’s what’s right. Rather than shaming and hurting other fans for not knowing how to support B.A.P or knowing but not doing it for time or money purposes or whatever other reason, I think we should simply just be encouraging each other to support them in a positive manner. Eg my “fun places to stream B.A.P” thread: it’s partly for me to look back in the future and laugh at my own antics, but also partly to serve as a soft reminder for others to stream if they wanted to but forgot! I hope it’s come across that way :D

All in all, your efforts and intentions are appreciated. Please don’t let negative people get you down, and let’s all focus on the positive things. Let’s enjoy this comeback, the quality music B.A.P has provided us with yet again, the new fans we’ve gained, and celebrate their Bonsang at the Soribada Awards today! And hopefully succeed in getting them a win tomorrow at M Countdown!
