Knowing I could own Danny Kaye's silly little jester outfit for 1.5k is making me insane actually

Not your followers thinking Jimin doesn't need to be big star also. Are they even sane ??? EACH AND EVERY MEMBER IN BTS IS AMBITIOUS AF, ESPECIALLY JM. But unlike JK, JM is not airhead to keep on saying he want to be next big thing, want to be seen as this het fuckboy who only sings about sex to be seen as mature, want to be one and only kpop star to do so bla bla bla all while not lifting a pen to write songs, won't have streams and sales without a 938397328 versions and all that mediaplay from company. Or atleast the bare minimum hold a mic properly and talk/sing without fidgeting and embarrassing yourself. How you gonna dominate western market without even communication skills lmao.. those times when he used to stand in shade of RM is gone lol. Jk's big project DREAMERS debuted under bubbling 100 while JM gave that YG company their 1st hot 100 entry by a collab. So saying JK is this and that while we are not seeing results organically is dumb af. Golden maknae because he sing and dance some white man's songs which company already bought success for ? Oh there's 100 other artists who sings and dance way better than him. He can't hold 5 mins on stage if he's doing a dance battle with Jimin lol.
What company doing to members IS INJUSTICE AF.. especially Jimin who fucking proved he can also be the 'next big thing'. But they conveniently sweep him under rug so his shine won't affect their industry plant launch. Or why can't they support him too ???? Is it that difficult ? JK didn't do a shit and got everything. I BET HE WONT DEBUT NO.1 FOR SEVEN NOR GET ALL THOSE RECORDS IF IT WAS NOT THE PUSH FROM SCOOTS. BE FR. Go and check his BB points to see how payola impacted his chart. It would've been a -48 like 3D on second week too. While what we asked for Jimin was the deserved support in 2nd week for a song which fucking went no.1 with fans support and artist impact alone. It's NOT secretly wishing JK's treatment for JM, but asking what he fucking deserves. Literally any company will give the extra promos for his in 2nd week but not hybe who's on a mission to sell themselves to somehow establish JK in west 😬
And don't say JM will chose me over JK. Did I said I want JM to chose me ????? THIS IS HIS CAREER HE WORKED HARD FOR NOT A FUCKASS RELATIONSHIP. Even if you look at their relationship also, it's the same lol. JM keep on giving and giving him his everything while JK sit back and enjoy Jimin while not even bothering to post a simple bday wish or go and meet him even after him begging a 100 times.
YOU CANT CALL OTHERS JK ANTIS BECAUSE THEY SEE TRUTH AND SAY IT OUT LOUD. Ask him to play fairly like a man 1st, then we will see who's the real winner here ?
DAMN IF PSYCHO WAS A PERSON
IF HE'S WINNING DOES IT MATTER HOW HE'S WINNING???? DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THINGS WORK IN THIS WORLD OR ARE YOU ONE OF THE DELULUS WHO THINK HARD WORK IS EVERYTHING?
You are crazy if you think money, connections, power, politics, privilege and luck play zero role in making a star. Please find other 2 yr olds and hug them, don't bring this shit to the adult table its embarrassing.
I'm embarrassed for you.

[PART 1]  [PART 2]  [PART 3]  [PART 4]  [PART 5]
Part 6 – Step Forward, Step Back, Find Your Partner Quick
Helen tried her best to console a distraught Rosemary as Officer Garcia spoke to several of his colleagues in the hallway.  Her screams had startled the director, who was already on edge due to the break-in and if the circumstances had been different, the look of surprise and horror on the officer’s face would have reduced Helen to peals of laughter.  But all the situation did was add worry to her shoulders.
For nearly two hours, the officers questioned Rosemary about the break-in, about the missing piece, and they kept asking if the museum had any enemies. As much as she wanted to say Fred Breyers out of pure spite, Rosemary kept her mouth shut – sure some people weren’t always pleased with some of their program or exhibit topics, but nothing that would result in the theft of an artifact or the physical beating of a staff member.  The two women were exhausted by the time the three cops left the building.  Rosemary laid on the couch in her office, a wet cloth over her eyes as the lingering headache from the attack ramped up under this new stress.
“Rose, are you going to be okay?”  Helen’s voice was soft, but unable to keep the worried tone at bay.
“I honestly don’t know.  That statue was the only thing missing.  I don’t know if I’m upset because I promised Robert we’d care for it or mad as hell that accepting that ugly ass hunk of bronze led to all of this and possibly hurt the museum’s reputation.”  She sighed heavily, the now cool cloth doing little to help her.  She slowly sat up, swinging her legs over the sofa’s edge.
“I wouldn’t worry about our reputation.  I’m already working with Marquetta on a press release to get ahead of the game.  Louis over at the Caller always does right by us, I’ll give him the scoop first and he’ll spin it in our favor.”  Helen leaned back.  “I’ll also call major donors today to inform them of the situation.”
“I’m sorry, Helen.  I never thought this would have happened!”  The younger woman groaned heavily as she tried to stand, but the director held out her hand to keep her from getting up.  The body stilled.
“Did Francois’ report show anything differently than what Robert had given you?”  Before Robert’s health worsened, Rosemary contacted an old friend of hers to appraise the piece as Helen wanted a second opinion for the insurance company.  The in-depth discussion about the findings with Helen was moved back first by Robert’s death and then the attack.  “Are we still looking at the same value?”
“I reread it the day before the attack to prep for the meeting that never obviously happened, and he seems to agree with the assessment Robert gave us. The statue was processed into the collections several months ago and I put in Robert’s information, but never got around to putting in Francois’ report.”
“Well, so long as the original value was imputed into the report, it’ll give us something for the insurance company.”
“Are we going to report it lost?  What if they recover it?”
“Rose, I don’t mean to sound mean, but I doubt these officers are going to find the piece.  Whoever has it is probably long gone by now.”  Helen glanced over at her.  “Unless a miracle happens.”
“Well good thing I believe in manifestation and miracles.”  For the first time in what seemed like a long while, Rosemary smiled as her old humor began to shine through.  The director smiled back, unable to let the infectious comment not affect her.
“We’ll see.”
---***---
Two Weeks Later
“Pike!  Get in here!” Carmichael’s voice carried through the small cluster of offices their department occupied.  “Pike!”
“I’m coming!  Damn, give me a second!”  Pike grumbled as he scurried from his office and across to hers.  She wasn’t a loud person, so the excited shout she gave had everyone around her curious.  As Pike entered the room, he could see his partner standing behind her desk, doing a little hop-dance.  He raised an eyebrow.
“You need to look at this!”  She pointed at the computer, her smile so big it nearly took over her face. He stopped because she was giggling, Carmichael never giggled.  Whatever this was, it had to been good.  Pike came around the desk and bent down to see what she was looking at and when his eyes landed on the screen, his eyes bugged out and his jaw dropped.
“This is one of them, isn’t it?”  Carmichael asked, her voice quivering in excitement.  He ran out of the office to the command center for the cold cases, his presence startling his crew.  He looked over at the evidence board and ripped off a picture hanging in the middle before rifling through one of the boxes to find the corresponding file. He ran back to the office.
The picture in his hand was faded with time, that grainy look of age that pictures older pictures were taking on, but despite those flaws, the sculpture in the photo matched the one in the new alert in the NSAF database.  The Cornucopia had always been breathtaking.
And it’s been missing since 1993.
The agents glanced over the dossier, reviewing the piece to try and discover how this priceless Russian artifact made its way to what looks like a small museum in Western Michigan.  Neither had reviewed the original case file closely and both felt their jaws dropping as they read further and further into its history:
A rare example of the early Ukrainian Avant Garde art movement, The Cornucopia was created by Artem Chumak, a well-known artist from Odessa. Commissioned by the then-governor of the country as a gift to Czar Nicolas II in 1907, the piece was designed to showcase the entirety of the Ukraine in a single moment.  Because the country was known for its agriculture, Chumak chose to use the image of the cornucopia as his inspiration.
The piece is made of bronze and inlaid with the following precious gemstones:
               Siberian diamond
               Ural sapphire
               Ural ruby
               Ural jade
               Russian emerald
               Russian opal
               Ukrainian pearl
Upon the fall of the Russian empire in 1917, Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna Romanov took the piece along with several others from the royal art collection when she fled Russia.  She remained owner of the piece until 1920, when she sold it to the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
In turn, the Grand Duke loaned the piece to the National Museum of History and Art and it remained with the museum until the outbreak of World War II. The ducal family took the piece back, along with several others to protect the collection from the advancement of the Nazis.
Unfortunately, the move did little good and much of the museum’s collection, including the pieces stored in the ducal family home, were taken by the Nazis, with intention of destroying them as part of the Germanization of the annexed country.
The pieces remained missing until 1949, when a team from the Monuments, Fine Arts, and Archives program (a.k.a. the Monument Men), recovered the stolen collections in a cellar in Hamburg and returned them to their respective homes.  The Cornucopia was returned to the museum and was on display until the ducal family attempted to sell the piece in 1965.  The sale failed and the family remained owners until the piece was loaned to the Luxembourg-American Cultural Museum in the U.S. in 1992.
In 1993, the piece was stolen from the museum and reported to the FBI’s Art Theft Squad days later.  The piece has yet to be recovered despite the best attempts of the team.
Pike looked at Carmichael and they grinned at each other.  While it being reported as missing didn’t mean that they had found it, it did mean that this cold case was heating up.
“Do you think we found our key?”  He didn’t want to sound hopeful, but he had to admit he was optimistic that they were much closer to solving this case.  The evidence they had been sifting through meticulously was painting a picture, but like a jigsaw puzzle, they were still missing pieces that brought it all together.
“I think we have.”  Carmichael replied.  They grinned at each other.
“Whose turn is it to go and do the interview?”
“Mine, but could you do it?  Marty is out of town on business this week and I can’t leave Dinah alone.”  She rarely asked to trade like this, but Pike held up his hands in understanding.  They smiled, grateful they were partnered up, their work relationship had always been a smooth one.
“Sure, what could possibly happen in Michigan?”
They laughed as they started to walk to the command center.
---***---
Rosemary and Banana walked into the house, both exhausted from the day, the museum’s annual fall field trip event a cacophony of noise and excitement. The program had been exactly what Rosemary needed – something that distracted her from everything that had happened over the last month.  Her stomach hurt all day from her laughter as young kids swarmed the museum in their Halloween costumes.
As she hung up her coat, she caught something out of the corner of her eye on the kitchen table.  Walking over, Rosemary immediately recognized Fern’s loopy handwriting.
Hey sweetie, probate hasn’t cleared yet, but I heard word it should within the month.  Not to jinx it, but welcome to Saugatuck – its’ about time!  I’m also including some keys to Robert’s safety deposit boxes for safekeeping.  You can’t open them until the probate has cleared, so don’t get ahead of yourself! Love you, ae-in.  Always.  -F
“Oh, thank god.”  She huffed as she opened the bulky envelope, dumping out various keys and paperwork, including the deed to the house and the store.  She had an underlying fear that something would happen, and Robert’s wishes would have been overturned and she would get nothing.  “Looks like we’re here for the time being, Baba!”
Rosemary read through the papers and picked up her phone to call Fern. For the next hour, the two women chatted about the changes, what she needed to do to register ownership with the state, and more.  After they said their good-byes, Rosemary pulled her jacket on and patted Banana on the head as she left the house.  It was dark now, but she knew the path through the cemetery and trudged up the hill towards Robert’s grave with no problem.
“You know, I’m certain you chose this spot for some reason or another, but I think it’s to punish me for not getting enough exercise.”  She groused at the polished granite, wondering how she made this walk as often as she did, and it still robbed her of her breath. She was out of shape.
Robert’s cheeky grin beamed from the porcelain cameo embedded into the stone.  She had never seen anything like it, but he had told her it was common among Eastern European communities.  He described how they used this horribly unflattering photo for his aunt Ionna’s cameo and that he vowed he’d choose his own rather than leave it to his relatives to decide.
She sat down on the damp ground and settle in.  She was still visiting the cemetery daily and while she didn’t cry as much as she had in the beginning, her throat always felt painful after she left.  Wrapping the coat around her tightly she sighed.
“You missed our field trip day.  I know you loved volunteering for it and the kids who remembered you from last year asked where you were.”  She smiled. “I told them you were attending as a ghost and that they couldn’t see you.  I think they believed me.
“I don’t know what strings you pulled up on that cloud of yours, but Fern thinks the probate will clear next month.  I’m glad, this whole process has been a pain and thank you for not making me go through it.  I’d give up and just die if Fern weren’t in charge.  My landlord was mad I’m breaking my lease, but I know you’re excited, you always hated that place.”  She sighed as a wave of sadness washed over her.
“I miss you.”  Her voice crackled with tears.  “I miss you so much, Robert!  I hate that you’re gone.  I hate that! I hate this!  And I failed you!  They still haven’t found the statue and I contacted the FBI and I haven’t heard anything, and I don’t know what to do!”
She cried harder, her ribs hurting as if the pain she experienced weeks ago was still fresh.  She gripped her sides as she continued to sob.   She was tired and everything that had happen in the month and a half since Robert died was catching up with her.  Rosemary sat in the cold evening for hours and let her sadness out.  When she finally left, the exhaustion she felt forced her straight to bed when she arrived at the house.  In a bit of mercy, she slept a dreamless sleep for once.
---***---
“Good morning.”  The deep voice caused Marquetta to turn from the display case she was working on.  A tall man with brown hair and a kind smile stood at the front desk.  She watched as Bob ambled over to welcome him.  She couldn’t hear their conversation after that, but she kept a subtle watch on the interaction as the two men talked.  The stranger smiled again and walked past her towards the stairs and she watched up trudge up each step until he was out of sight.
“You aren’t being very subtle.”  Bob’s voice sounded behind her and Marquetta jumped at the noise.  She felt herself grow hot, grateful her dark skin hid the blush rushing across her cheeks.  She turned to look at Bob, who was grinning at her.
“Who was that?”  She tried to keep her voice steady.
“Some FBI agent wanting to talk to Rosemary.”
“FBI?”  Marquette frowned before her eyebrows shot up.  “FBI!  Oh my god! They’re here!”
“Don’t shout.  It’s rude.”
“No, Bob!  Rosemary reported that statue that got stolen to the FBI!  That means they know about it!  They’re here for that!”
“Does that mean they’ll find the men who hurt her?”  He sounded hopeful at the idea.  Even if he thought her manners were lacking, Bob was deeply upset that Rosemary had been hurt the way she had been.  If this young agent can help find her attackers, he was all for it.
“I bet they do if they find the statue.”  The two stopped talking when Rosemary and Banana entered the building. She looked up and felt awkward when she realized they were staring at her.
“Um, is something wrong?”  She sounded unsure of herself and Bob got angry, realizing that these men didn’t just rob the museum of this ugly statue, it robbed Rosemary of her self-assurance.
“Never, Rose.  There is an agent from the FBI in your office.  Marquetta says you contacted them.”  She startled, not believing that her reporting the stolen item would bring them to her front door.  They were just a small history museum in Michigan, not the Detroit Institute of Art or the Smithsonian.  She figured she’d get an email or a call, but never a real agent.
“They’re here?  Really?” Her eyes lit up when Bob nodded. She started to laugh because she didn’t know what else to do.  Marquetta walked over to hug her and the physical contact help to ground her.
“He’s good looking, too.”  Marquetta whispered in her ear.  Rosemary pulled back at the comment. “Like really good looking.  His butt is cute.”
The two women giggled at the comment and hugged again.  Picking up the leash she dropped, the curator and her furry companion went towards the stairs, hope beginning to bubble in her chest. Maybe she hadn’t failed Robert after all, she thought.  When she reached the third floor, she stopped to catch her breath before walking down to her office.
When she stepped into the doorway, she saw him standing there, looking at her walls.  She couldn’t see his face, but everything about his presence radiated kindness – something she hadn’t expected from an FBI agent.  When he turned to look at her as she cleared her throat, his face lit up in a smile and she couldn’t help but smile back.  For the first time in weeks, she felt safe.
“I’m Special Agent Marcus Pike.”  He held out his hand to her.  She took it with her customary firm grip.
“I’m Rosemary Carter.  Welcome to Fort Jamison.”

TWILIGHT GUNMAN: Event Translation Ch1-5
Something happened, I think I have to take a short break from translating for a while, but I finished the whole event story for this one... Epilogue might need to wait a bit though... I hope that I can get back soon. I think it’s not a good idea to put everything in 1 post so I divide it into 2 for now, will be uploading the other half as soon as I’m done with proofreading.

Amabi Student A:
Ha~, today’s lecture’s so tiring…
Amabi Student B:
Should we get lunch in the meantime?
Amabi Student A:
Right. Banri, you’re coming too right.
Banri:
Yeah
Professor:
Settsu, can I have a bit of your time?
Banri:
Me?
Professor:
Sorry, but come with me for a bit.
Amabi Student A:
What what? Banri did you do anything?
Amabi Student B:
As expected of our course’s proud yankee.
Banri:
I’m not a yankee.
Anyway, I didn’t know anything too.
(…But, seriously, what is it about?)
<Shifts to Dorm>
Director:
I’m home.
Citron:
Bang! Dayo!
Tumblr media
Director:
!?
Citron:
Oh, Director, it’s no good, you have to fall down properly!
Your reaction’s weak~
A person from Kansai should have been beaten with one shot you know…
Tsuzuru:
No, if you’re that abrupt of course you won’t be able to react properly.
Director:
Eh, umm, what do you mean?
Tsuzuru:
Citron-san seems to be getting into those Western Movies nowadays.
Previously, he was into Shinsengumi, and he even said he’s going to reform the government’s order…
Kazunari:
And after that, he was into role-playing Onmyouji right!
Director:
I see… That’s why the pistol huh.
Citron:
The game that I played with Itaru was so interesting!
Ha! Bang bang!
Tsumugi:
Ugh…!
Da, damn it…
Citron:
Bang!
Kazunari:
Ugh, you got me~!
Citron:
It’s no use hiding in the kitchen!
Bang bang bang!
Omi:
Arrghh!
Da, damn it…!
Citron:
Bang!
Tsuzuru:
I’m already tired of that.
Citron:
Oh, Tsuzuru you’re spoiling the mood~
Tsuzuru:
How many times have I played along with you since yesterday!
Director:
(Ahaha, everyone seems to be playing along with Citron-kun’s Western role-play…)
Citron:
It’s decided, I will be the lead in a Western setting for the next performance!
Tsuzuru, let’s start biting now!
Tsuzuru:
Don’t be impossible!
Anyway, it’s not biting, it’s writing right.
Banri:
Everyone’s lively as usual.
Director:
Banri-kun, welcome back.
Citron:
Banri, welcome back!
Ha! Bang bang!
Banri:
Ah? What’s that?
Citron:
You’ll know just by looking! It’s a gunman.
I’m playing as a Western gunman!
Banri:
Gunman? What a coincidence.
Director:
? What do you mean?
<End of Chapter 1>
Banri:
Anyway, I was thinking of telling this to Director-chan first, but—
A professor from my university was asking if members from MANKAI company theatre troupe want to appear in a movie as extras.
The recruitment of the movie extra seems to focus on Amabi’s student, but they need more people…
They also seem to want people with non-student feels, I heard that from a professor who knows that I belong to a theatre troupe.
Omi:
I see.
Banri:
It seems that the popularity of that Onmyouji performance from that time plays a part within the school too.
The shooting will include staying overnight, other than the general offer, there’s a special compensation too and my university load will be reduced.
Kazunari:
I might have seen that recruitment too!
It’s the title that they’ve been broadcasting on that big cinema complex right.
Director:
That sounds interesting!
I’ve thought so during the Onmyouji performance too, but we don’t really have the chance to touch any normal movies, so it might be a good opportunity.
Tsumugi:
If the cost is covered by them, it seems that we would be able to get approval from Sakyo-san too.
Tsuzuru:
You’re right.
Banri:
Then, I’ll tell that to the professor.
Citron:
Of course, I want to perform the gunman role~!
Bang! Bang!
Tsumugi:
In the meantime, Citron-kun’s participation has been decided I guess.
Banri:
…I guess.
<Time Skip>
Banri:
Thanks for the meal.
Omi:
Yeah.
Banri, you’re going off already?
Banri:
Yeah, I have first period today.
Honestly, I don’t feel like it, but…
Kazunari:
Ah, Settzer wait a bit!
I also have the first period, let’s go together!
Banri:
Yeah.
Kazunari:
Then, we’re going off!
Omi:
Yeah, be careful.
<Shifts to Road>
Kazunari:
Such a good weather today~
I’ve only gotten until third period today, I guess I’ll drop by somewhere on the way back after class later!
Tumblr media
Banri:
Seriously… I’m packed until fifth period today.
Kazunari:
Ah, is your second period today perhaps a lecture by Professor Suzucchi?
Banri:
Yeah.
Kazunari:
Professor Suzucchi sometimes gives you a report assignment.
I recommend you to choose the materials that you can find the related data from the books in the library!
Banri:
He-, really.
Kazunari:
I will recommend you some books that I have read later!
Banri:
Thank you. If it’s Kazunari’s recommendation, it cannot go wrong.
Kazunari:
Anyway, about the movie’s extra!
It looks super fun~!
Banri:
I guess. It might become something interesting on top of saving my honour.
Kazunari:
Right!
That will be another vibe point for you!
<End of Chapter 2>
Tumblr media
Director:
Then, we will participate as the movie extra with these members this time.
Sakuya:
Pleased to work with you!
Citron:
Fighting!
Tsumugi:
I’m glad that Citron-kun can participate without any problem.
Banri:
They seem to need a foreigner extra this time.
But rather than the gunman role, it seems that they want him to appear as the native people instead.
Kazunari:
Really!?
Tsumugi:
Even though he wanted the gunman role so much…
Citron:
I have no problem with it! I’m now in the middle of studying the role of the natives!
Awowowowwowo~!
Yuki:
You sure change your mind fast.
Director:
Yuki-kun won’t be extra, you’ll participate as the costume personnel right.
Yuki:
Yeah. I was contacted again by Kazunari’s acquaintance from Amabi University.
He was asking if I want to come and help with the costume arrangement.
It’s like a substitute for a part time job and it seems that I can pile up more experience.
Kazunari:
To participate as movie extra with these members, it’s so lit!
Everyone, let’s do our best!
Sakuya:
Yes!
Tsumugi:
Yeah, I’m really looking forward to it.
Banri:
Then, I’ll inform the professor about the member line up.
Director:
I’ll leave it to you!
<Shifts to University>
Kazunari:
Then, my classroom’s on the second floor! See you later!
Settzer too, good luck on your lesson~
Tumblr media
Banri:
Yeah, see you later.
Alright then…
Amabi Student A:
Oh, it’s Banri. Morning-.
Banri:
Morning.
Amabi Student A:
I think we’re together for the first period.
…Ah, anyway, have you heard?
Banri:
Hah? What is it.
Amabi Student A:
There’s going to be a change in the production work in Amabi, that Western movie.
The supporting role’s actor has dropped out for various reasons I heard.
<Shifts to Dorm>
Kazunari:
--Yeah yeah.
Ahaha, right~!
Yeah, then I’ll call you again some other time!
Later~
Alright, let’s go back to the room and…
Eh?
(There’s someone in the balcony?
I wonder who. Aririn’s tea session?
Maybe I should go and join~!)
<Shifts to Balcony>
Sakyo:
…Ah, right.
Banri:
I see.
Kazunari:
Eh!? It’s such a rare pair here!?
Good work today~!
Hey hey, what are you guys talking about?
Banri:
Nah… It’s nothing.
I have to get back to my room soon.
Then, later.
Kazunari:
…Eh, did I disturb anything perhaps?
Sakyo:
…Nah, it’s nothing particular.
I’m going back too.
It’s getting colder outside, you should get back to your room soon.
Kazunari:
Ah, yeah…

Citron:
Location bus is so exciting!
I somehow managed to get snacks under 300yen!
Sakuya, I’ll give this to you.
Sakuya:
Woah, Citron-san, thank you so much!
Director:
No no, it’s 300yen, but it’s not like we’re on a trip or anything.
Tsumugi:
But as I thought, I’m feeling excited just by heading to the shooting location using this kind of bus.
Yuki:
Well, it’s not like I don’t understand their feeling.
Banri:
Kazunari:
Settzer~
Banri:
Hmm?
Kazunari:
Alright, here! It’s the new stock of snacks I found in the convenience store!
I’ll give one to Settzer too!
Banri:
Oh, thank you.
Kazunari:
Hey hey, Setzzer, about yesterday--
Citron:
I’ll give a banana to Banri!
Let’s add banana on our snack break!?
Banri:
No, I told you this is not a trip!
Citron:
Don’t be reserved, I received those from the aunties in the shopping district!
There’s a lot~!
Banri:
How much do you even get.
There are too many bananas here.
Extra A:
Ahaha, you’re such a good friend!
Extra B:
But Citron-san, you seriously have such a deep character~
Extra C:
Too interesting! It seems that even the journey will be fun.
Director:
(Citron-kun has become really popular among the extras it seems.)
Banri:
My bad, did you say anything just now?
Kazunari:
…Uh, it’s nothing!
<Shifts to Location>
Tsumugi:
Amazing… It really feels like I’m lost in the Western World.
Kazunari:
Seriously, it’s so lit~!
Tumblr media
Staff A:
Camera’s over here!
Staff B:
Please check the lighting!
Banri:
It seems like they’re not settling down.
Sakuya:
Seems bad…
Tumblr media
Director:
Ah, everyone’s finished changing it seems!
They really fit you well!
Tsumugi:
Thank you so much.
Staff C:
Oh~! You over there, your image fits the role so well!
Staff D:
Amazing! It’s perfect!
Citron:
It’s not bad!
Awowowo~
Tumblr media
Kazunari:
Settzer’s gunman’s super cool too!
Banri:
Oh, thank you.
Kazunari too, it looks pretty great on you.
Kazunari;
Seriously!? Thanks~
Tsumugi:
Eh, Yuki-chan will participate too?
Sakuya:
Is it a bar’s waitress costume?
I can really feel the atmosphere!
Yuki:
I heard that they don’t have enough people.
Well, I look cute like this, so I think it’s fine.
Staff A:
Everyone playing extra, you’ll be waiting for your turn so please go to the location bus at once!
Citron:
Understand~
Director:
Then, let’s go.
Yuki:
Yeah.
Sakuya:
I’m really looking forward to the shooting, I’m a bit nervous though…!
Banri:
It’s about time huh…
Sakuya:
? Banri-kun, what happened?
Banri:
My bad, Sakuya, I’ll be away for a while.
Sakuya:
Ah, Banri-kun…!
<End of Chapter 4>
Tumblr media
Kazunari:
But Ronron’s costume, the quality’s really high!?
Yuki:
They were particular about the fabrics too, but I might like this kind of access actually.
Director:
The feather decoration has a really beautiful colour too.
Citron:
It fits perfectly with my oriental feels!
I like it!
Kazunari:
Eh? By the way where’s Settzer?
I don’t see him anywhere…
Sakuya:
About that, he went away somewhere earlier…
Citron:
He’s running away by himself!?
That’s not fair!
Sakuya:
Umm, I think that’s not the situation…
Tsumugi:
Well well, maybe he has something else to do.
Kazunari:
Right! If it’s Settzer, it should be fine!
Director:
You’re right.
Kazunari:
<Shifts to Bar>
Staff:
Good work everyone!
We managed to end today’s shooting without any problem.
Tumblr media
We have prepared the food as well, please enjoy yourself!
Let’s stay in the costume as it is, we’ll still be using it from tomorrow onwards, so it’s a good chance to build your role, we seek your cooperation for that matter!
Extra A:
Ahaha, well, it’s true that the shop’s atmosphere feels very Western, it might end up becoming a good role study it seems.
Yuki:
It’s fine, but don’t you dare dirty the costume now.
Sakuya:
I, I’ll be careful!
Citron:
Without further ado, let’s eat!
Kazunari:
Woah! This meat’s super delish~!
Furthermore, your eyes are wild! Let’s take some pictures for Insta!
Director:
Even the food feels so Western!
The potato is delicious too.
Citron:
It’s delicious~! I want to dance a happy dance!
Awowowowo!
Sakuya:
The Western vibes are getting higher and higher!
Tsumugi:
By the way, there’s the lead actor too, but I’m glad that the movie’s by Director Uesugi, the aura’s really different…
Yuki:
I think that I’ve heard the story from him, if I’m not wrong, our useless actor has starred in that director’s work too.
Kazunari:
Seriously!? So lit!
Sakuya:
As expected of Tenma-kun…!
Banri:
Good work.
Director:
Ah, Banri-kun! You’re late.
Yuki:
Anyway, where did you go.
Citron:
Alright, Banri, did you run away to get signatures from the actors!?
Banri:
I wasn’t doing that obviously.
The theatrical and dance department from Amabi University was summoned to a different place.
I was just shooting in another location.
Yuki:
Then, isn’t it fine if you just explain from the beginning.
Sakuya:
Woah, what kind of scene was it?
Banri:
…Well, that, just look forward to it.
Yuki:
What’s that, don’t act like you’re so important.
Kazunari:

Always Gotta Don’t Stop (speculating about Smash)
So with Byleth incoming in just a few days, we also got other noteworth announcements that got me pretty excited about the possibilities for what could come to Smash Bros. Ultimate over the next two years. I felt like having some fun and came up with multiple lists using this template by Matthew Lovenzka, and I tried to find a balance between various factors -- perceived popularity (not just with Western Smash fans but that’s part of it), moveset potential (they CAN make a moveset out of anything but Sakurai specifically focuses lately on bringing new mechanics), and also a twist of marketing (since that IS part of it, as Byleth demonstrates).
Long post is LONG, I’m goin’ ham.
First up, just some general predictions for Fighters Pass Volume 2:
Tumblr media
Now, I don’t believe we will get Sora AND Geno, but it DOES feel likely we will get another Square character, and those two feel like the most popular picks with people from Square. I could Nintendo trying to get Sora in first and foremost, but if legal complications (or Square just being fussy) got in the way, they might compromise on Geno. I feel like with how big Activision/Blizzard is, they’d want a character in, and if Nintendo likewise WANTED to parley with that, and go for another western-themed pick, Bandicoot makes the most sense. Crash didn’t get into Playstation All-Stars but everyone still inherently associates Crash with the Playstation One, so it’d be a great pick and feel similar to Banjo-Kazooie in a lot of ways. I could see moveset being a little standard but they could probably come up with some fun elements. Given how much emphasis the Crash franchise has put on Coco more recently (made her fully playable in the Crash Trilogy, given her lots of attention in CTR Nitro-Fueled), it would feel in-character and also just be neat if she was added as an alt costume. Capcom: I feel like we’re all expecting a new Capcom rep, and that by no means entails we will get a new Capcom rep, buuut it feels pretty likely. Capcom is on good terms with Nintendo, Ultimate already has plenty of content from them, they even pitched in plenty of new music tracks to Ultimate. The real question is, who would Nintendo want from Capcom, and who would Capcom give their approval on? I would’ve thought Resident Evil a couple months ago, but since we just got RE spirits added, I’m starting to think that if a new Capcom rep got chosen, it must’ve been from somewhere else. (Maybe RE was considered first and they did spirits and all that but then it got cancelled or switched, I dunno). There’s plenty of possibilities, including multiple desired characters who have already been in Marvel vs Capcom. Personally, my money is on a Monster Hunter rep just because the game is so huge in Japan, and recently finally broke through to worldwide popularity. Next, a Bandai/Namco rep. Given that the company works on the series, it’s actually strange to me that B/N costumes from Smash 4 were removed, and we have yet to get anyone new added in. Pac-Man is still the only Bandai-Namco fighter in the game. As for who they’d add, most of the obvious picks might feel redundant (Tekken? Soul Calibur?) but if they went with something like Dark Souls, they could incorporate a stamina managing mechanic, as well as that grim-dark aesthetic (I feel like ONE of these six newcomers will be from a grim-dark game.
A year ago, you wanna know who EVERYONE was expecting to get into Smash? When it was revealed that NINTENDO was deciding the DLC, not Sakurai? Wanna know who everyone expected? ‘The new Fire Emblem protag.’ Which is...exactly what we got. I would say that at this point, we can’t really expect anyone or anything from Smash, but the exception to that rule is to expect a first party, corporate overlords pick. Could be a Gen 8 rep, could be Travis Touchdown to promo NMH3, could be a new Zelda rep to promo BotW2, I dunno, could be a new Splatoon character to promo that series (and whatever is coming next from it) but I feel it in my bones that one of these six will be first party, from a more recent game, basically to just be Nintendo flexing their own brands.
Tumblr media
But something we learned over the past year is that they are actively trying to add more franchises and characters via Mii Costumes. So here’s some theories as to what we might get from 1st/3rd party Mii costumes in the couple years to come. It feels like we’ll prolly get more Nintendo themed Mii costumes, and tbh I just feel like with more Pokemon DLC coming, they will want to push that here. Especially if we get a new Pokemon fighter/stage, it would feel natural for them to throw in a trainer-oriented costume.
If we get a new Square rep, which feels likely because Square is just THAT big, then I would suspect we’d get one or two more Square costumes, but I’d expect them to be underwhelming. So, like, bring back the Chocobo hat. Bare minimum, that’s been Square’s creed when it comes to Smash.
While Resident Evil feels like it didn’t make the cut, I could totally see them adding in one or two RE themed costumes as kind of a peace offering for the franchise. Leon/Claire would make sense with the RE2 remake being such a hit, and Leon’s history with Nintendo hardware.
TBH it feels kind of criminal that Chun-Li isn’t in the game in some way outside of a spirit and a music track. At least give that lady a costume, for Din’s sake.
2B is also technically Square, but her creator has been very open about being interested in just...selling her likeness all around. I feel like 2B could be a fighter, of course, like she already is in Soul Calibur 6, but I also feel like if Nintendo was going to aim for a Square character, they’d have their sights set on bigger fish. She would please plenty by appearing as a costume, at least.
OK, so, I have played a Minecraft or two over the years. Hell, I played it WAY back before it was even officially finished/released. I can definitely see the appeal of Minecraft coming to Smash, though more as a stage than as a fighter. I could easily see a Minecraft SOMETHING making its way in, and it is very possible to show up as a fighter, but a Mii Fighter skin feels more likely imo.
Tumblr media
So something else that hasn’t officially become a pattern yet but has definitely set up an anticipation is indie games getting their dues with ‘premium’ Mii costumes. So here’s my picks for those. I think three of these are actually still quite possible to be fighters, if IF IF Nintendo is willing to truly throw an indie a bone. But it feels more plausible that that bone would be much smaller, and we’d get popular indie reps in the form of these premium skins with music tracks. I feel like I don’t even need to really explain most of these, but VA11 HALLA is here more because I personally like it a lot, it’s a popular enough visual novel internationally, and it has a banging OST. But tbh if I could decide on a Stardew Valley skin that would’ve gone there instead, just because of how prominent the game is. You could likewise replace Cave Story with Stardew, except I feel like Cave Story was THE indie game that kind of kickstarted this whole ‘indie revolution.’ Tricky part there is the complicated and unfortunate nature of the series’ ownership (essentially taken away from its creator).
The other four, though, I could easily see them as fighters with their own unique gimmicks/mechanics and stages with cool music and aesthetics. The only other indie game/character I could envision more than them is coming up. I feel like if this indie trend continues, one of these is bound to show up.
Tumblr media
So Sakurai made a weirdly big deal about the concept of ‘echo fighters’ only to like...add three and call it a day? There’s so much more you could get out of the concept, and as many have discussed, doing an ‘Echo Fighter pass’ (or just piecemeal adding in Echo Fighters) over the course of the next two years would make extra bank, please lots of folks, and not actually take up more resources. The trick is they’d all have to be first party characters from already establishes franchises in Smash, otherwise I just don’t see them happening. To be a proper echo fighter, they would need to be slightly different than another fighter, but different in some way. This usually entails at least one special move being totally different, but it also often entails changing the characters’ properties in some way. To be clear: Tetra - Toon Link, Medusa - Palutena, Octoling - Inkling, Gooigi - Luigi, Impa- Sheik, Dixie - Diddy.
Personally, I think Impa would make the most sense of these to be her own fighter, and she has many forms she could take (pictured above is the Hyrule Warriors version), which tbh could just mean an entirely original, new adaptation, like they’ve already done with Sheik and, arguably, Zelda. But she could totally get away with being a Sheik echo, as well. You can probably imagine differences on your own, but if we were to get more echo fighters added, these are some of the more popular and perhaps plausible picks that might possibly please the higher proportion of people.
Tumblr media
So I don’t think any of these feel specifically likely outside of a Monster Hunter rep, and even then, I feel like Byleth essentially got the ‘gimmick’ you’d give to a Hunter fighter (like they got in MvCI), so you could swap the Hunter for a Palico or even a Monster or something, I dunno. I want someone from Monster Hunter, and I want a Monster Hunter stage/music. But I do feel like at this point, anyone feels possible for Smash, so these are picks I would personally DIE OVER, like I did with Mega Man, Lucina, Banjo-Kazooie, and Joker before them. Ones that I personally have great affection for and would main regardless of play style, but which also feel prominent enough and appropriate enough where you imagine them in Smash, imagine many people knowing who they are, etc etc.
ARMS was such a lovingly made game that just didn’t have mechanics deep enough to hold people’s attention in the long run. Which is a shame, because the characters, the world, the aesthetic, it’s all so well done and I adore it. I do feel like we’re bound to get at least one more Ninty rep (probably two or even three depending on how much Nintendo wants to dabble with third parties this go-around), and I feel like ARMS is a franchise worth inspiring interest in. The game did well, it just didn’t do SPLATOON well, and I don’t want Nintendo to abandon it. Give us the four most prominent characters from the game as different skins, use colors to reference the ones who are shaped differently from them, give them a unique mechanic with their arms and the swapping-fists element.
I do think we may very well get an Activision/Blizzard rep, and while I ain’t happy with that company right now, I do think they’re one of the biggest western companies who’s not in the game (Bethesda being another one, who I am also not happy with atm but who has much less defined characters). Tracer would tick many boxes in terms of what I want from a newcomer in Smash. She has lots of personality, she’s a woman (a thing sorely lacking in new Smash characters lately), she has what could be a VERY unique gimmick, and she would help advertise Overwatch 2 and other Blizzard games that have been coming to Switch. Make it so she doesn’t have a Final Smash but has an Ultimate that charges over time (and the Smash Ball just insta-fills it), but make it not as powerful AS a normal Final Smash. Give her Blinks and a Rewind but no traditional recovery, so you have a real intriguing balance between managing her cooldowns to either maximize offense at great risk, or grant very safe recovery but then lack ways to overcome neutral. Tracer’s kit could encapsulate just about everything interesting about competetive Smash gameplay. The only real downside is that Overwatch doesn’t have much in the way of music -- so incorporate other Blizzard stuff to make up the difference. Overwatch already crosses other Blizzard content into it, anyway.
Undertale may have gotten a nod in Smash already, and arguably in the form of one of the most desired characters/tracks added, but I also think the game is big enough of a deal that a full-on fighter/stage as the first indie properly added would feel...I dunno, fulfilling. Appropriate. Not to mention the moveset potential. Whereas Sans is already repped well enough tbh (even the nature of him being a costume FITS his too-lazy-to-actually-show-up-in-person mood), a concept for the actual player character of Undertale has way more potential imo. Not to mention that Sakurai/Nintendo seem much more keen on adding the primary/player character to rep a game before anyone else. Frisk could be played in a dual style: either a hyper defensive passive style that relies on turning the opponent’s strength against them, OR a hyper aggressive rush-down style that is fast and fierce but easily punishable if you make mistakes. The key to creating a truly fitting Undertale rep for Smash would be finding that balance of player choice between peace and violence and working it directly into the character’s kit. HOW you would implement it would be tricky -- ideally, you’d want to reward players for actually committing to ‘Frisk’ style or ‘Chara’ style, and punish them for middling between the two. Not only this, but an Undertale stage would bring with it one of the decade’s most beloved gaming OSTs, and you could probably get people in the gaming world who’d be JUMPING to arrange those tracks for Smash. The stage itself could take many forms but I think one that plays with the various characters and their attack styles would maximize the creativity of the team. If I had to pick one single character/stage to get added to Smash, I’d vouch for this one, probably, and I’d make it either the first of this pass, or the last; it’d have the biggest impact on either end but would be a big deal regardless.
Kat from Gravity Rush is, arguably THE least likely out of everyone here to show up in Smash, mainly because she is a Sony character. Unlike Joker or Crash, she isn’t a third party character who is associated with Sony, she is a Sony-owned character, to my knowledge. But out of every first party Sony character, she makes the most sense to me as a Smash character. She’s cute, cartoony, she has a primary gimmick that a PLATFORMING fighter could take full advantage of (imagine managing a gravity charge to go sideways or underneath the stage for kills, BUT dooming yourself if you mess up), and she would be a real “oh whoa wtf” moment in terms of bringing Sony into the fold. Main problem is, if Sony was to let of their characters in, it would probably be someone else, just because it seems they’ve lost sight of value in this series, unfortunately. Though, tbh, I’d be pretty damn down for Aloy, as well, I just think the stage/moveset wouldn’t be nearly as exciting or new.
Lastly, I want more Splatoon. We all want more Splatoon. I don’t know if the series has gone into hibernation until the next Nintendo hardware, or if a spinoff is coming sooner than we think, or what. But Nintendo knows how big Splatoon is. And the series FEELS big enough over the past decade to warrant more representation. I feel like we’re getting a new Ninty rep or two, anyway, and I’d much rather it be Splatoon than more Pokemon or Fire Emblem or JRPG etc. (nothing against those things, we just HAVE plenty of them). The pop idols of Splatoon have won the hearts of many, and you could definitely come up with a new moveset for them in many ways. It could be a tag-team moveset where the player swaps between them (maybe even on time intervals like a musical performance), it could be music-themed instead of ink-themed, it could be Ice Climbers -esque, I dunno, there’s a lot of possibilities. A Splatfest themed stage with multiple variations could keep things tied to the actual gameplay of Splatoon, as well (or they could do a Salmon Run based one, that mode is INSANE). It would drive up appeal in the brand even further, it would capitalize on the fanservice angle, it would highlight just how much the series has accomplished these past ten years -- for fuck’s sake, there are PHYSICAL CONCERTS YOU CAN GO TO to watch these characters perform. Who the hell else in Nintendo history can you say that for? And these characters are still pretty recent! That speaks a lot. If I had to rally for any first party add, it would be this, honestly. And yet, we already have Splatoon, but I think the brand is fresh enough and fun enough to warrant a whole new fighter.
So that’s my hopes, some predictions, and some shots in the dark.
The past year has been a WILD ride. The next two years will hopefully follow suit.

On Donnie Kwak’s dismissing BTS and frustrating comparisons.
Here’s the Kwak article I’m talking about:
To that end, BTS — from the relatively tiny label Big Hit Entertainment — leans hard into K-pop conventions. Keeping it real in K-pop, ironically, means keeping it somewhat fake. They dress similarly; they dye their hair; they smile for pictures and make cute finger hearts; they are “super excited to be here”; they sing and rap adequately; they lip-sync and dance impeccably. They are incredibly polished performers, seasoned over years of K-pop factory training, who choreograph their offstage decorum as carefully as their onstage theatrics. Their personas are anodyne to the point of artifice, more cringey than cool. This is K-pop.
Other people have picked this apart already with regards to BTS, so I won’t pile on; I will point out that Kwak wrote a much more nuanced article about CL last year, so I suspect his dismissive take on BTS is not rooted in wholesale K-pop dislike or some sort of Asian-American less-off-the-boat-than-thou stance, but rather greater familiarity with and respect for YG acts.
But his description stung in another way, for me. It doesn’t fit BTS very well; BTS’s charm has been only partly how much they’re willing to conform to Korean idol pop standards but also how much they’re willing to reveal of themselves within those standards (see this example and this one from the  seminal BTS Week by @maddieloveskpop, and that’s 2 1/2 years old now). But Kwak’s dismissive summary actually works quite well if you apply it to Infinite.
I watched the American Music Awards last night, and the Twitter livestream of the red carpet, and various other bits and pieces of interviews this past week; much as I’d like to be all, “Oh, no, I’m not an ARMY, I just check in on BTS once in a while,” that would be a barefaced lie. (Once you’ve used the dance-practice videos for “War of Hormone” or “Baepsae” or “21st Century Girl” or “Go Go” for temporary emotional ballast, the jig is up.) You know what I haven’t watched? Any Infinite VLive made since Hoya left. Actually, no, wait. I think I did watch one solo VLive Sungjong made, and after the fifteenth or sixteenth time he said, “Inspirits, I miss you, please wait for us,” in a five-minute span, I turned it off.
When @knight-of-clubs visited me over the summer we watched a VLive together, of Dongwoo and Sungyeol in traditional costumes, joking around. It was a half hour long, and afterwards she said, “Wow, I can’t believe they managed to keep it up that long without actually saying anything,” and I agreed. It was polished and practiced; silly and completely insubstantial; boring.
One of the frustrating things about watching BTS, as much as I enjoy it and as glad as I am for their success, is wondering how much they’ve been able to accomplish because they were allowed to. This is not to take away credit from BTS for creating their own destiny: my understanding is that RM and Suga, as underground rappers, wouldn’t have plumped for an idol group that wouldn’t have let them write their own beats and lyrics, and Jungkook chose BigHit over other companies in part due to RM’s presence. But how many artists would talk about mental health and societal pressure, if they felt (or if their bosses felt) comfortable enough to take the risk?
(As I’m typing I can hear @anonciate going “BUT TWICE THOUGH,” and we definitely need to have a conversation about the Grand Unified Theory of Twice’s Emotional Constipation as related to lyric composition and JYP’s approach to management.)
And the thing is, there was a time when Infinite was able to act more open and less bland, and I distinctly remember it: the spring of 2013, just after I had begun following them, when they were promoting “Man in Love”: interviews where they were drinking and interviews where they vented about not being able to take bathroom breaks as trainees, and one memorable Twitter exchange where Hoya and Sungyeol were comparing Dragonball Z drawings and Myungsoo was like, oh by the way here is my published book of photography thanks guys. And then they got hit by several scandals: Sunggyu calling a woman a yomeul, but much bigger than that was Myungsoo’s dating scandal, the one that left him crying during the One Great Step tour. My theory is that the members grew much more conservative in their communications after that. (The rocky launch of Lovelyz probably didn’t help either.) Only gradually, here and there, did they start to open up again (the VLive sessions to promote Infinite Only—Sungyeol's casual, impatient, fifteen-minute session was a hoot—and then Woohyun’s rambling VLives at the begining of the summer, before Hoya left); and now, having to prove themselves as six, they’re going to be extra careful this promotional period.
Previously I never quite understood the (reported) Korean idol fan ideal of staying true to one group and one group identity; feeling like, well I like Infinite first and foremost but I also like SHINee and 4Minute and Ladies’ Code and EXID and so on and so forth. Now I actually feel like I’m cheating on Infinite, as irrational (and egotistical) as that is. And for something that isn’t within their control! Infinite’s style of music and presentation was always going to play better in the East Asian and Southeast Asian markets than in Western ones; it was to their advantage to concentrate on learning Japanese instead of English; they’ve always been in a market that doesn’t allow for slipups, under a company seemingly more afraid of risking market share than BigHit has been. I can’t argue for years that Infinite is more than their onscreen personae and then turn around and wander off because their onscreen personae have become less interesting than someone else’s.
I hope this comeback, whenever it happens, goes well: well enough to reassure the guys that even though Hoya’s employed elsewhere and Sunggyu has to enlist soon and they’re now no longer the hot new thing, they still have a loyal audience, they don’t have to be flawless to the point of boring, they can let themselves relax a bit. I’m rooting for them, still; them and BTS, no matter how impressive the latter gets.

This is your Han Solo now ...
So we had the first as-yet-untitled-Han Solo project cast photo this week, wow, the “SW” Facebook page deteriorated into the childish and moronic “if you don’t want this; you’re not a fan” generation-gap mentality argument pretty damn quickly.
I don’t know how alone I am in this, but being one of the people who were part of the last Lucasfilm/fan focus group; I, at least, can say that I have pretty much directly told Lucasfilm in no uncertain terms what I thought of this particular project and I assure you that my comments were not very pretty and, in my opinion, rather scathing.  I must state for all purposes that I did that knowing that the “go/no-go” point to have this project green lit was at least 18 months ago and understand that anything I had to say had absolutely no effect on the outcome.
I can see that this film has currently split the fandom somewhat evenly, but I think the “don’t want” have the edge for the time being.  I know that there will be fans who are not happy about this project now who will be swept up in the coming months as more BTS shots are released, and there might be a “something” at this year’s Celebration to give buzz about, and there are many fans are looking forward to it.  Yes, there will also be those fans who will see it 6 times (at least) and whom will take to the myriad of social media platforms to tell just everyone who watches or listens or reads just how much they hated it every single time they saw it.
But is this project a good idea – no, it is not.  Personally, for those of us who continue to feel Solo’s fate in TFA deeply, simply have not been allowed to grieve by Disney/Lucasfilm and this as-yet-untitled-Han Solo project does very much feel like the character is barely cold in his grave and we are being presented with a new step-father and told to call him “daddy”.  OK, that’s probably a bit too Drama Queen-y, but, gorramit, it’s how I feel.
These standalone projects highlight Disney’s business model need for this franchise - a “SW” film every year ad infinitum.  They are also, unfortunately, the embodiment of Lucas’ extremely ill chosen and inelegant analogy made during his Charlie Rose interview in 2015.  However, the decision for the return to the May release date is in itself fascinating (for those of you interested in the business of distribution) as it actually doesn’t give the title the potential longevity of theatrical release as keeping the mid-December date does, but hey; that’s likely to be all about getting it onto the home entertainment market ASAP to recoup that ROI, but I digress ... Would it have been better if the decision had been made to simply find a new director for the Boba Fett project and proceed with that?  Yes and no.
I say yes, because following the character’s somewhat gauche exit in ROTJ, Boba Fett’s “myth” has become even more entrenched especially being one of the remarkably few (and I am counting the fingers on one hand) OT characters that has a rich (read cinematic) backstory exploitation potential. And, hey, his costume’s, like, really cool!
I say no, because it doesn’t take away the “meat-grinder” element of what this fandom has to now accept.   And those canon novels, comics and video games will simply not write themselves.
As a 1 of those characters ripe for cinematic exploitation – Han Solo has it all.  Being the eldest of the original OT triumvirate, his backstory is an untapped source, which if handled correctly, could go for more than 1 film (and I don’t care what Hidalgo vehemently countered last year on his Twitter regarding the “news” of possibly more than 1 Han Solo film; potential further Solo sequels or similar is likely to have been considered due to Disney’s business model and the last thing the studio want is to keep negotiating with Alden Ehrenreich’s reps especially as this could open big enough).   Considering the career that Harrison Ford went on to have; Solo has audience brand awareness like you wouldn’t believe and is consistently voted as The Favourite “SW” CharacterTM.  This was very much put to maximum use for TFA when that film was sold to the general public on Ford’s back.
Disney, like all companies, has its shareholder obligations and therefore quarterly projections to meet.  And I have no doubt whatsoever, that numbers have already been run for this as-yet-untitled Han Solo offering (but please, indulge me a second time while I contribute some title suggestions:  “21 Jump Falcon” or “48 Parsecs” or tapping into Kennedy’s western idea, “Butch Calrissian and the Sundance Solo” or maybe it should just be “Firefly” …  Oh, wait, that last 1 already happened, didn’t it?) so there’s an idea of possible BO both domestic and worldwide that will be gaining traction within the Mouse House.    Just add the audience …
As a Han Solo/Harrison Ford fan for 4 decades I have a number of issues with this as-yet-untitled-Han Solo project (bet you’re surprised by that, huh?)  The primary one is this:  Following the events regarding this character in TFA, why on Earth would I, as a consumer, want to buy into a Han Solo film, especially when it has been written by 2 of the architects of the character’s fate and personality in TFA?
I was never a particular fan of the former EU, so I never bought into the Han/Leia white picket fence around the Millennium Falcon scenario as was presented.  But I most definitively do not buy into the never around father and husband as presented by J J Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan in TFA (which is being currently cemented by both Chuck Wendig and Claudia Gray into a man who felt confined in his relationship and impending fatherhood, more interested in racing and general itchy-feet in their “canon” novels) as it would appear that their Han Solo remained as we first met him in ANH.  My Han Solo grew up without knowing who his parents were, very much lived a hand-to-mouth existence on whatever planet’s streets – an “SW” version of the Artful Dodger if you will, and yet was able to pull himself out of wherever to make it to the Imperial Navy to pursue a dream.   I, personally, have great difficulty in acknowledging how that Han Solo would condone his child to a similarly emotionally difficult life.  Han Solo was at that point in ANH and by the end of ROTJ, he’d found enduring friendship (the people he’d dismissed at the beginning rescued him at great danger to themselves), companionship (he’d developed love) and a sense of belonging (he stayed with the Rebellion – yes, in the beginning it was likely for ulterior motives, but not by the closing shots of ROTJ) – that is a character arc which someone who has experienced the worst that life could throw their way would not easily give up.  As it stands, for me, the Han Solo of TFA is tantamount to character assassination solely for our leisure cash.
Of course, I understand that the Han Solo we will be presented with in the as-yet-untitled-Han Solo project will be the Han of ANH as the Messer’s Kasdan can put the character in more thrilling situations, and minus Leia, give him a passing, but no doubt intense love interest.  But we’ve seen how this character’s story ends - being callously murdered for narrative purposes on the modern screenwriting altar of cheap audience manipulation; so, again, why should I spend my hard earned money on this?  And anyway, with Woody Harrelson admitting that his character’s name is Garris Shrike, I can only wonder just how much of this film will be owe to A C Crispin’s 1997 Han Solo trilogy novels (yes, OK, former EU has no place …  Right …) The very sad thing is that if this film has scenarios recognizable to her novels there is likely to be no credit for Ms Crispin which is beyond awful while the Messer’s Kasdan will call it their own work.
The last fan focus group survey was about this project and it would appear that I was one of very, very few people who actually knew who Ehrenreich is and could recognise a photo of him.  I have seen his performance in “HAIL, CAESAR!” and enjoyed it; in fact it was of a standard that I would expect of a Coen Brothers production, so do I think he will give a poor performance?  Most definitely not; but his Han Solo will not be my Han Solo and creatives/business involved in this ignore that at their error.
Rightly or wrongly, I feel that a lot of this has to be with clearing the copyright decks of Lucas’ vision (and again whatever you think of Lucas IN THE SLIGHTEST; you feel it BECAUSE you bought into his original creation) and as I’ve stated earlier, there is an element of churning out product.  I am of a certain age where I feel that quality is superior to quantity, but I also accept that there are fans (regardless of age) who are extremely happy with the thought of a film every year ad infinitum and all good luck to you.  If your question is do I think it will be a bad film?  No; no it will not, no one spends the money these days on film production expecting to make a bad film!
Once upon a time, the former EU evolved from the foundation of the OT and weaved its own path for 6 years until the announcement was made in ‘96/97 regarding the PT.  By 2005, Lucas expressed that in his opinion there were 3 streams for “SW”:  The films which was his vision and which were canon (just think, kids, there was a time when if it wasn’t on screen it simply wasn’t canon); then there was the merchandise, which included the EU, comics, etc; and lastly there was ours, the fans’, “SW” – and none of those necessarily met in a neat junction, but all ran parallel with the films trumping everything, and Lucas (whether you remain supportive or dismissive) very much recognized that, and as long as the fandom played that game, acknowledged the fandom in a manner in which no other entertainment producing entity every has or is likely to again.
The last word I have to make regarding this as-of-yet-untitled Han Solo project is this:  I can not wait for the utterly ridiculous blustering explanation that will come from Pablo Hidalgo and the Lucasfilm Story Group either in a direct social media proclamation or a canon novel which addresses how a mature adult male in his mid-20s grew 5 inches by the time that mature adult male was in his mid-30s or will that physical element simply be part of the “this is your Han Solo now” mentality?

ViSULOG February “MEMENTO” Interview Part 2
Part 1 Here
So, please tell us things about from when A9 were a new band. You started out as アリス九號., then you became Alice Nine and now you're A9, so your band name has changed three times.
Show: Yes. Together with the concept of "Japanese meets Western", we stylised our name as “アリス九號.”. We started appearing on TV and front covers of magazines more, and we didn't like the fact that the way we stylised our name gave off the feeling of being a minor group. So we discussed it with management at the time, and when we welcomed our 5th year anniversary we changed it to the English stylisation of "Alice Nine".
What was the reaction when you changed the name?
Show: We had been told by experts in the field "Isn't the previous stylisation better since it has impact?", but it's just the stylisation that had changed; the pronunciation hasn't changed. However, when we became “A9” from “Alice Nine”, the pronunciation also changed.
Hiroto: People thought we were a different band entirely.
There are people who think A9, Alice Nine and アリス九號. are all different bands.
Show: That's right. The people interested in us know they are all the same band, but I suppose the people who aren't interested in us don't know.
When you formed アリス九號. and first came out in the Visual Kei scene, what kind of position did you have in the scene?
Saga: Good-looking guys!
He answered straight away (laughs). Did you form a band of good-looking people?
Saga: No. It's not like we were only looking for good-looking guys.
Show: Personality is important.
Saga: We were told at the time "It's a miracle all these nice-looking faces came together", but we didn't do it on purpose. It's not like I thought of myself as "good-looking".
Nao: I also never thought of myself as good-looking. But since everyone around us kept saying it, I thought "Huh? So I'm a good-looking guy".
All: (Explosive Laughter)
Huh?! Did that many people call you a “good-looking band”?
Saga: They called us "the SMAP of Visual Kei".
(laughs) Really?
Hiroto: They did (laughs). The people around us always said "Be the SMAP of the Visual Kei world".
Tora: That brings back memories (laughs)
Show: But I could only ever think of them as them ridiculing us. Even if we were told "You guys are a good-looking band", I thought "You're making fun of us, aren't you?"
Tora: That's not it. It's just that we were relatively fast in realising the importance of design and re-touching. It was a time where people didn't do it that much.
So you even set yourselves apart in that respect.
Show: Yeah. We certainly did start doing that stuff relatively early (laughs)
Tora: Really early.
Show: But now it's become the norm.
Saga: If it's a five person band, there would be about one or two cool people. In our generation. That's why when I first saw our band photos that had been edited, I was like "Huh?! How is everyone looking so good?!"
So it turned out so nice that even you yourselves were surprised.
Show: That's why re-touching is important.
And since you all looked so good, some people got jealous and said things like "Those guys are just pretty faces"?
Saga: Yeah. A lot of people said that.
Tora: Well, it was true.
Dahahaha (laughs)
Tora: But the reason why we were told that is our aura when we stood on stage lost to the aura we gave off in those edited photos.
Saga: We should have been more aware of that back then. If we were more aware of the fact that we were good-looking we definitely would have been more popular.
Nao: Fuhahahaha (laughs)
Show: What left the biggest impression on me at the time were words said to us by someone who wasn't our fan: "Even though these guys can't do a thing, what is with their "We're the winners here" aura?"
Tora + Nao: Gyahahahaha (laughs)
Show: I just remembered that we were told that even though what we were doing was rubbish, only our aura and "We're the winners" feeling we gave off was amazing (laughs)
I suppose the impression that アリス九號. and Alice Nine would give off to non-fans were about your appearance.
Show: Yeah. At that time, we were either the band that wore school uniforms in 「Shunkashuuto」 or the band that appeared on a music show called 『HEY!HEY!HEY!』 with Downtown for the song 「TSUBASA.」 where Nao got a roundhouse kick from Hama-chan1. It was either one of those two images that a large majority of non-fans had of us.
Hiroto: That really was the case eight or nine times out of ten. But our seniors and people close to us would often say to us "アリス九號./Alice Nine actually also play some old-school rock and progressive rock". They never really said this or that about our faces. It would be nice if people could start talking about our music instead.
Show: They say it takes ten to twenty years for peoples' first impressions of you to change, so we've still got a way to go.
Tora: I mean Dragon Ash still has this hip-hop image. Even now.
Show: Even though they've stopped rapping.
Meaning the same goes for アリス九號./Alice Nine's image.
Show: I guess there are a lot of people who just look at our faces and think that we're completely devoid of substance and stop there.
So rather than your music, you presented your faces to people instead?
Tora: Not presented, but "were able to present". Assertively. I think that was our style back then. I mean, even though we hadn't finished any songs we took new photos first. We couldn't even talk about musical direction or anything.
So you took on the words 「You guys are just pretty faces」 and even though you didn't have any songs, you kept on presenting new, cool visuals.
Tora: Right. At the time, there weren't any people to put visuals as the top priority. Although after that there were people who started to imitate us. That's why I think we're an example of succeeding (though putting visuals as a top priority)
And ever since then you've been putting visuals as the top priority?
Show: When we got signed to a major label, we gradually stopped doing it that way. Because you start learning about how to make music. At the time, we were also told by our company to make songs with more grown-ups. We were quite resistant to that, and that's when Saga brought in the song 「JEWELS」 and we were able to make the company understand that "We are going to do the songs that we make ourselves". I think things started changing from there.
You shifted from having the top priority as visuals to music.
Show: That's right. And from then Saga started thinking about the basics of music. We've been putting visuals a top priority for about nine years, and I think that the point at which people started to acknowledge that we weren't just a bunch of pretty faces but a band that plays music was last year at 「PARTY ZOO〜Ken Entwines Naughty stars」(L’Arc〜en〜Ciel's Ken's live event). When we played at that event with our latest musical style with the rock band style which we thought was cool, Ken told us "No! You look basic! I didn't call you here for that. Don't you have any white suits?" (laughs). Ken had said to us "Put out your “Good guy aura” more to the point it makes us choke", and Tatsuro (MUCC) told us "You need to use your "good-looking guy" part 100% more! Even though I hate those kinds of bands".
Tora: We were like "Oh, really?"
Nao: It seems like I'm still a good-looking guy (laughs)
Show: Being told that, we became more aware of our colour. To a certain extent, MUCC has shown us an example of that. MUCC is overwhelmingly MUCC. They're a band that does exactly what people, including the fans, want from MUCC. They don't "spoil" themselves at all and say that next they're going to make the music they're into lately. And if we look at ourselves in the same way, I think that the things people want from A9 were the things that Ken had said, so we've accepted that. But we really don't think of ourselves as good-looking. Ah, except for Nao (laughs)
Nao: Hahahahahaha (smiles)
Show: But we've accepted this. After that 「PARTY ZOO」, we've played at events in all-white costumes (laughs). 「PARTY ZOO」 had the effect of making us stop spoiling ourselves, like "We're in this mode right now so that's why we're doing it like this", and letting us do the things that we should be doing. I think that the results of that can be seen in our latest single.
So please tell us about your latest song 「MEMENTO」. How did this song come about?
Saga: It's a song that was made being influenced by our 12th year anniversary live last year and all the live events we've appeared at up until now. The advice we got from Ken and Tatsuro at 「PARTY ZOO」. The us that third parties see us as, the things we want to do, the things that our fans or fans of the scene want from us; they are all different. That's why we thought to put all of that in this song. But what it comes down to is what we want to do. I thought that if it didn't have the things we wanted to express, it wouldn't catch on, so while taking into account the advice, we properly express the things we want to express. I really thought about that balance.
Was it the uplifting chorus you made taking into account the advice you received?
Saga: I suppose so, if we were to talk about specific parts. I think that you wouldn't imagine a song with that kind of intro to have this kind of chorus. I think that perhaps our distinctive feature is that we can do that sort of thing.
Was the second bridge always supposed to be like that?
Saga: Yeah. That is kind of like my bad habit, I just want to make the song go in that direction. I am trying to treasure those parts too. Because that also makes up a part of our "unique characteristics".
I think another part that you couldn't imagine just from hearing the intro is the piano part before the solo.
Saga: For this song, I asked nishi-ken to do the arrangement. I didn't say anything at all like "Put a piano part there" but it seems like nishi-ken had the image of a piano at that part. At first there were a lot more notes but we cut down on some.
I felt that the uniqueness of the song is also that it quickly develops and the melodies keep changing.
Saga: Personally, I think it's important that you don't bore the listener. So taking that into consideration, I did think that it would be better to have a fast-changing development. And with all of that, while using things that are also popular in this scene, we gave of this "rock feeling" that even fans not into this kind of music could listen to.
What about the other members?
Hiroto: I think it's turned out to be a song that reflects the motivation we received from the live events. Personally, it's been a while since I used down-tuning for a song. Hearing the completed song for myself, rather than it being intense it has energy, but I thought that we made a song with an awesome uplifting feeling when the five of us play it together on stage, so I think it's great that this is the song being released as a single, as we haven't released a single in a really long time.
Tora: The lead song on our previous release 『LIGHT AND DARKNESS』 was a danceable track but this time the song is intense. I'm the kind of person to go with the flow of the other members, but this kind of song is easier to groove along to. But it really is the kind of song Saga would make. Even if Saga makes an intense song, as expected, it's also really melodious. I think there has to be a reason why it's like that.
Nao: The start makes me nervous. Because it's a song that starts off with the drums. And because if I mess up the beginning there's going to be trouble. It's a song that make you that nervous. It's also got a fast tempo.
And the title has the meaning of "memento", right?
Show: That's right. For us, there was a moment where the future of the band was in danger. But even though we've been doing this for more than 12 years, I don't really feel that we've done all we could, or that we've left an impression behind. That's why we want to leave something behind in this scene. That is expressed as the lyrics of a hand reaching out to the light.
So those intentions are in the lyrics.
Show: Yes. Although there are a lot of ambiguous expressions, that is the main point of the lyrics. During lives, it appears as if the audience is reflecting the light of the venue, so the feeling of reaching out to that light is linked to the uplifting feeling of the chorus.
I hear that Tora was involved in the editing for this MV. What did you pay attention to when editing the footage?
Tora: I looked for the members good-looking “nice faces”.
Based on your own tastes.
Tora: Yeah. I used all the parts where I thought that the members probably wanted me to use. Hiroto shines during the performance parts, so rather than the acting parts, I mainly used his performance parts. The way he moves during the parts he wants you to use is usually the same for all takes, so you just know. But there was also some conflicting moments. There were times when Nao or someone wants you to use his shot but you can't due to the flow of the MV. Those are difficult to deal with. But I have few shots in this MV. I put in my own cuts when I thought I had to. It's quite hard for you yourself to put in your own shots (bitter smile). That's why the main part of the MV is the performance part.
So what is the concept for the visuals in 「MEMENTO」?
Show: Up until now, I've sort of being like the artistic director, but this time I asked a designer to do this for us, for the first time in a while. It had been a while since I met a person that made me think "This person is amazing!", so I left it all up to them. They're a person who does designs by combining mode fashion and 3D, so that's why the artwork has turned out that way too. Even though it's really fashionable it has an eccentric atmosphere to it and that's really interesting. So that's why even though it's a single, the booklet is oddly quite detailed, so do please take a look.
After the release of this single, you'll also be releasing your album 『IDEAL』 in April and prepare for your nationwide tour 「IDEAL HORIZON」. For A9 lives, the lights that the fans wear on their arms are also a part of the performance. From when did you start using those?
Show: Ever since we were アリス九號., we thought about other ways to enjoy the live apart from the moves, head banging and reverse stage diving. We're the pioneers in the Visual Kei scene when it comes to using those lights.
Really?
Show: Aren't we?
Hiroto: In the past, the use of these lights were only limited to idol culture, so when we, a band started using them we were hated by the fans.
Show: We were bashed quite a lot.
Hiroto: But we started using them from around the time we made our 1st album.
Show: At that time, there weren’t any bands that were using those lights, but once we started using it other bands caught on too.
The “A jump” in 「RAINBOWS」 is also something that only this band does. Whose idea was that?
Show: That was from a live in Niigata or something.
Hiroto: We were talking about the X-jump2.
Show: During the MC.
Hiroto: And since we're A for Alice Nine.
Show: We do the A jump.
Hiroto: Did we start doing it there too?
Saga: At first we were joking around and did the X-jump. If I remember correctly. But the fans were like "Since it's Alice Nine shouldn't it be an A jump?". That's when it became the A jump.
I see. Finally, please give a message to the readers about the tour.
Saga: I think there are a lot of people who first saw our photo or read our interview from ViSULOG. If you come to our live, there will definitely be good-looking male fans since people always call us a good-looking band. So maybe you can meet new people there.
Show: That's your message?! (laughs)
Saga: No, I'm sure it's much better than going to “group dates”.
And on top of that, you have this good-looking band standing on stage.
Saga: We're not scary and we talk a lot, and we also have a comedian in our band (laughs). And we're the kind of band that at an event the other day, we were told that there wasn't enough time so when we had to choose between playing another song or talking more, we chose to talk more (laughs). We're a band with that kind of sense of humour.
Watching your live really gets the point across that though A9 is a good-looking band, they don't put on airs.
Saga: I think you can enjoy that "SMAP" feeling we have.
Nao: Since it's April, it's a new school year. Why don't you get a change of pace and come to our lives and get a good start to the year? Also, to those who haven't come to see us live yet, why don't you start a new relationship with us?
Tora: I think we're a really approachable band. Even though distance-wise we're far from the audience, we are also close to them. There are also cool parts in our live shows, so I hope you watch our lives with an open mind.
Hiroto: We're definitely a band that never gets told that we're boring, even by people who don't know us or people who came along with their friends. I think something will catch your attention. So I want people to come see us on tour and not hesitate to invite their friends along.
Show: We're actually a good band. I think that we will definitely be able to make all those involved in our band happy. It's okay to read opinions online, but if you actually come to our live show, we will make you happy. Do come see us. 1 Hama-chan is one half of the comedic duo "Downtown".

Someone should make a game about: Muscle Men • Eurogamer.net
Does anyone here remember Muscle Men? Not actual muscle men, they’re still a thing, but those little pink rubber figures from the 80s that were about two inches tall. Remember them? I can still smell them, that rubbery waft, and I can still almost feel them, that slight give in an otherwise solid rubber skin.
I distinctly remember the moment they turned up in my life. I was in my pyjamas at the top of the stairs, watching people come into the house for a party. I had to go to bed and was throwing a bit of a wobbler about it. I was a child just in case that isn’t clear. I might still be in my pyjamas now but I can go to bed when I like!
Anyway, one of the people coming into the house doesn’t disappear below but comes upstairs bearing gifts. I honestly can’t remember who they were but I remember what they brought: a strange tiny dustbin with see-through sides containing a load of little rubber men. Muscle Men, the label says.
A tub just like that! Image credit: Muscle World.
Me and my brother both get one – he’s upstairs tantruming with me – and suddenly we’re all smiles. We thank the guest, the best guest my parents ever invited over, and run into the bedroom to fight over what we got. What are these things?! We tip them on the floor to see and they’re incredible. They look like wrestlers. They’ve got big bulging chests and biceps like loaves of bread, and some have helmets and outlandish costumes on. But they get way weirder than that. Some have six arms! One has got what looks like a pasta machine for a stomach, and another another is just a big hand. Hey everybody, give him a big hand! Sorry it’s just that I wasn’t this razor-sharp when I was a kid so I’m enjoying myself now.
But as engrossing as these Muscle Men are to look at, they don’t actually do anything. Their arms don’t move, their legs don’t move, they aren’t “articulated” as they say in toy collecting circles, and they’re all one homogeneous colour you can’t paint. They’re just there, lying on my threadbare carpet because it’s too hard to stand them up.
I went on to use mine as the rank and file of my toy armies. I’d take over the whole bedroom, brother be damned, scatter a few obstacles around and then divvy up my teams. A few Thundercats here (we had a great red-robed Mumm-ra), a few wrestlers there (the bullet-proof 80s kind you could spin so hard they would hurt, say, your brother) and then handfuls of Muscle Men to fill in the gaps.
I love how creepy the guy on the right looks. Image credit: unknown I’m afraid.
But they weren’t cannon fodder, the Muscle Men, I was really fond of some of them. Obviously I’d sacrifice a few to get the scene going, give the bigger toys a bit of an entrance, you know, but I’d hold my favourite Muscle Men back as a kind of cautionary tale for the over confident Lion-Os of the world. Think you’re going to chop them down like grass do you Lion-O? Guess again. Now they’re all over you like ants. “Hooo!” your way out of that.
Come to think of it, Muscle Men were my toy soldiers, the underestimated force that worked together as a team. Only, Muscle Men were way cooler, and to be honest, I’d completely forgotten about them until today. I have no idea why they popped into my head but being the rigorous journalist I am, I decided to find out more.
It turns out Muscle Men came from Japan. The story begins with a manga comic called Kinnikuman, first published in 1978. It told the tongue-in-cheek story of a bumbling superhero called Suguru Kinniku, who one day discovered he was the long lost prince of a planet called Kinniku – planet Muscle to me and you. This planet was where all the greatest superheroes in the universe came from and in order to prove he was worthy of the throne, Kinniku would have to wrestle them. He would have to beat characters like Ramenman, Buffalo Man, and Terry Bull. They were hardly a serious bunch.
Unsurprisingly, with a premise like that, the comic took off and in 1983 became a cartoon for TV. This is an important moment because it’s at this point merchandise arrived: Muscle Men. They were known as Kinkeshi (a mash-up of the words Kinniku and Keshigomu, which translates to “rubber eraser”) and were apparently sold in gumball machines around the country. Everything must have gone very well because more than 130 episodes of Kinnikuman aired before the show ended in 1986.

This video is fab.
It’s here that the Western story of Muscle Men begins. US toy company Mattel was running dry on ideas and looking for something to follow the fading He-Man line, so it looked to Japan and saw Kinnikuman. It was a perfect fit. Except, oh, that cartoon is a bit violent, parents won’t like that, and actually, while we’re at it, can we really be bothered to translate all those comics? No, so Mattel bins them both off and decides to come up with its own idea instead. M.U.S.C.L.E. is born.
It stands for Millions of Unusually Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere, and the advertising campaign played on exactly that: the United States invaded by millions of bizarre little toys, and now it desperately needs the help of kids all over to round them up. Or in other word, buy and collect them. Just to make sure you’ve understood that: the marketing campaign for Muscle Men, in 1986, was for kids to collect them all. This was 10 years before Pokemon.
There were around 235 Muscle Men and you could buy them in either little boxes, big boxes or – as me and my brother found out – small bin-like plastic tubs. Evidently they caught on because Mattel expanded the range with a tiny wrestling ring, a tacky-looking wrestling belt and an awful-looking NES video game (it didn’t even have the homogeneous pink colour). But what it couldn’t do was create more Muscle Men designs because it didn’t own the rights, Bandai did (and I believe still does). Mattel tried to relaunch the same Muscle Men designs in different colours but collectors lost interest. The fad faded and in 1988 was done.

Goodness me.
But Muscle Men or Keshi, to be more specific, are not completely dead. A company called Super7 still makes them, albeit not with the official Muscle Men licence though they look identical. Super7 also does pop culture crossovers with brands like Transformers, Toxic Crusaders (remember them?!) and I don’t know why but Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.
There are also plenty of places on Etsy and beyond where you can buy the original Muscle Men figures if you want to collect them. They’re a bit pricey, though, at a few pounds a pop. I remember buying fists full of the things at the local market for the same kind of money. Mind you, I particularly like a poster someone made of hundreds of Muscle Men all bundled together.
Funny how slices of childhood rear their faces some days, isn’t it? My memory of Muscle Men is really strong, even now, and my brother knew instantly what they were when I sent him a picture out of the blue. I spent hours playing with those toys, dreaming up little stories for them while they overpowered Hulk Hogan for the umpteenth time, giving them identities I didn’t think they had. Then today I discovered they already had them, had stories, had identities, had a whole universe of lore Mattel simply hadn’t bothered to bring West, and it sounds sillier and more entertaining than I ever would have imagined. And now I want to go there and experience it all. Don’t you?

Is allstate good insurance?
"Is allstate good insurance?
My husband and I are buying a house and shopping around for homeowner's insurance. So far, we've found that Allstate has the best rates. Are they a good insurance company? I'd love to hear from current/previous Allstate customers. We currently have auto insurance through Geico, who we're happy with, but their homeowner's rates are high. We'll probably switch auto policies to whoever we insure our home through. So, any info on Allstate home and/or auto insurance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Has you health insurance premium cost gone up or down?
Individuals buying health insurance on their own will see their premiums tumble next year in New York State as changes under the federal health care law take effect, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced on Wednesday. State insurance regulators say they have approved rates for 2014 that are at least 50 percent lower on average than those currently available in New York. Beginning in October, individuals in New York City who now pay $1,000 a month or more for coverage will be able to shop for health insurance for as little as $308 monthly. With federal subsidies, the cost will be even lower. Supporters of the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, credited the drop in rates to the online purchasing exchanges the law created, which they say are spurring competition among insurers that are anticipating an influx of new customers. The law requires that an exchange be started in every state.""

Insurance Cost Starting Driver-?
Statement of Facts: 16 (soon turning 17) Good Grades, above B, honors Several after school activities (Student Council, if that is even relevant) Impeccable driving history (no infractions) State of Residence: Maine Rural/sub-city? Insured under fathers plan, also clean record (51 and 1 ticket?) Alright, I'm currently under my fathers policy and am driving his vehicle to school and back. Soon we will be purchasing a vehicle for my own, and I have a few questions. To be frank, I am looking at mustangs. Not v6s, but GT v8s, preferably standard transmissions. Dad's biggest problem is insurance, which is understandable. My question is how much said insurance would cost/ raise his existing policy? -I like this model because I want a vehicle with performance. When I think of performance, Muscle comes into mind. The quintessential of this and most feasible is a mustang. Many older versions (such as 1990's, early 2000's) so they are affordable, and I just like them. Also I know a considerable amount of knowledge for my age about vehicles due to helping in my grandfathers garage past summers and many weekend projects.""

Primary and Secondary Health Insurance?
This has been a big complication for a few months, but back in October of 2008, I had a physical exam and my provider billed, what I assumed at the time, my primary insurance company (Horizon NJ Health). However, two years later, Horizon took back that money and my provider has been billing me for that physical back in 2008. I called Horizon and apparently they took back the money because I had another health insurance, and Horizon was no longer my primary. I had not known about my other health insurance company, Aetna student health care, since they never gave me any information or membership details, and I was automatically enrolled for it when I entered my university. When I contacted Aetna, they told me that they weren't the primary insurance company because they were just student health care. After several phone calls back and forth between Aetna and Horizon... I STILL haven't figured out who my primary insurance company is since they both claim to be the secondary insurance (and they seem to have endless reasons why the other is primary). I contacted my provider and asked them who they have listed as my primary, and they seem to be clueless about it too (when I spoke to the receptionist and asked, they kinda changed the topic). Is it possible to have two secondary insurance? If not, who should be my primary insurance? If Horizon is my primary, doesn't that mean they shouldn't have taken the money back for the physical exam?""

I have a policy from New York Life, but 2 of my friends who are financial planners, say Mass Mutual would be better... there's a bunch of baloney I'm not understanding i.e. guaranteed benefits, crap about withdrawing money for retirement. Altogether, it doesn't seem like I am getting that much from death benefits with the amount I am putting in ($1K/year until pretty much I'm 65). I don't want to pay forever for this... where in my policy does it say when I can stop paying?""
Car insurance?
I got my license 2 weeks ago and I am getting a car this week. What insurance company would you recommend that I go with? Progressive, Gieco or AIG. If you have any others, feel free to throw it out there.""
Obama Compares forced health insurance with car insurance? WTF/ No one is forced to buy a car?
Why does obama compare forcing citizens to buy his corrupt insurance for welfare medicine to buying auto insurance? No one has to own auto insurance...IF YOU DON'T OWN A CAR? How did we end up with the stupidest man on the planet as our president when he's just an idiot?who cannot debate the simplest issue--and make wild irrelevant examples. His plan is not like auto insurance--so why can't his fans as dumb as he?
What is the best/cheap dental isurance?
What is the best and cheapest dental insurance in CA for someone who isnt married or have kids is on a tight budget, and needs major exstensive dental work including cosmetic and anestesia?""
Are classic cars cheap to insure?
for example all cars older then 1990: trans am and camaro's older then cadillac eldorado's older then rolls royce silver shadow chevy belair dodge charger chevrolet suburban mercedes 500sel mercedes 500sl and other american and classic european cars
How much is car insurance?
I know it depends on a lot of things, but whenever I mention me getting my license, they have the same excuse over and over... So what's an idealistic amount for a young teen w/ 3.0+gpa and a sports car be? In california.""
How much would insurance cost for a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse?
I'm 17 years old with a clean driving record. All the insurance websites won't give you quotes until your 18, and i'm just curious how much monthly insurance would be because i'm paying for it.""
Good car insurance rate?
Is $400/annually for 1 way car insurance a good deal? I an with triple a, and drive a 94 Honda accord 1 way policy. Ive been with them for a couple years now bcuz they got towing in my policy. Just wondering is this a good price? as my policy renewal deadline is near.?""
How much would car insurance be for me?
Does anybody know how much (on average) car insurance is for an 18 year old with no accidents/tickets? I'm thinking about getting my first car by Dec. 2012 (or maybe early 2013). Of course it will be a used car (probably a sedan from somewhere between 2005 - present) since it's my first car (idk if that matters w/ the insurance, i think it does)
When can I drop full coverage insurance?
I have a 2010 nissan versa I have full coverage I wanted to know how long until i can drop the full coverage and will my insurance rate be lower?
Will my dad's car insurance go up if I get my license?
I'm 19 and want to get my license without getting my dad's car insurance going up.
Where can i find cheap full coverage auto insurance?
Where can i find cheap full coverage auto insurance?
Do I need Liability insurance?
I live in So california, and just brought lots In Texas,Arkansas and Utah. The lots are vacant land. Im being told that laibility insurance might be wise. is there someone out there who knows for sure.""
Is allstate good insurance?
My husband and I are buying a house and shopping around for homeowner's insurance. So far, we've found that Allstate has the best rates. Are they a good insurance company? I'd love to hear from current/previous Allstate customers. We currently have auto insurance through Geico, who we're happy with, but their homeowner's rates are high. We'll probably switch auto policies to whoever we insure our home through. So, any info on Allstate home and/or auto insurance would be appreciated. Thanks!
