I was thinking, "One day I shall find my writer's voice and then things will be a LOT more clear--pertaining to what I want to write and how I want to write it" but the truth is that everything that I'm writing technically IS IN my writer's voice.... I might not like my own voice or understand it all that well, or know how to convey what I'm trying to convey in the way I want to make it come across, but my voice IS there and it IS mine, even when I'm frustrated with it and its limitations (it also helps to think about Whisper of the Heart and how Seiji's grandfather tells Shizuku after reading her manuscript that her writing is a diamond in the rough that needs to be polished and refined and honed).... it's just a matter of practice and of listening!

#am finishing up the summer project which my diana requested as her Christmas present and whew it is all over the place #i've narrowed it down to seven stories but even that is a LOT #four are done and need to be edited heavily #one is done and needs a LOT of restructuring #and the last few are.... not done #it has been such a journey but it has been so challenging in the best of ways #summer project: the spiderman meme novel #it is in fact still the spiderman meme novel xD there are uncomfortable reflections of myself everywhere #especially the post-mr knight songbird who was unbearably sad and cried on the train in her bed in the church pew etc. #but it has been good in a way to look at past songbird and say. it is okay now songbird it will be okay #writing this particular story in the collection (the nina story) has been a way of holding heartbroken songbird by the hand gently #while i was writing i also had a Strong Strong urge to write a really angry story but i couldn't find a way to do it without tiring myself #out and so i never did xD as it turns out all these stories are about sad endings and good beginnings
