I’ve been watching videos of Star Trek ships and one of the videos noted that the Enterprise started out as a Constitution class ship.
The refitted Enterprise-G is a neo-Constitution class.
In a time when Starfleet needs to rebuild (again) and restore its reputation, I think it makes sense for the new Starfleet flagship to be a neo-constitution class.
Making a statement, perhaps, that they are returning back to their roots of exploration and science, going boldly where no man has go before.
Reinforcing alliances, and becoming less militant.
But also as one of two ships has protected Earth will also signal that they are protectors.
Also, its possible even after a year a lot of the Starfleet ships are still out of commission.
Because damn, the Space Dock really showed its mettle! It was able to withstand the combined force of Starfleet.
It eventually succumbed but it held for longer than I thought it would.
Going back to the point I think in the long run Starfleet re-christening the Titan into the Enterprise-G, a neo-constitution class is a good signal and face to present to the galaxy at large.
Also, let’s be real, after all the losses, it might also be the most prudent and practical at this point with the loss of materials and the Utopia Plantia Shipyards in Mars Starfleet can’t afford to build anymore.
Enterprise-F was already set to be decommissioned.
Also, there’s no better face to present to the galaxy at large than with the person/s who put their ship against a whole armada.
And also no better person for people to look up to, for these young officers who were forcibly assimilated into the Borg than someone who has gone through it and made it to the other side.
Seven hugging Sydney was everything.
I am curious what new technology was added to the Enterprise-G because it seems that the ship had undergone more than repairs especially if it has to go through a Shakedown cruise.
Then again, I’m not really aware what that would entail, but if I had to guess Seven would be heavily involved in retrofitting the ship. After all, that was a lot of her function in the Voyager— oh I wonder if Enterprise G has its own Astromech lab?
I bet Seven drove the engineers batty. I also bet most of the time Raffi had to mitigate between Seven and engineering.
Speaking of, if and when we ever get a new series, I want to know who will be Enterprise’s Chief Engineer? It would be so fun to have another grumpy engineer on the team.
Edited to Add: B’Elanna. It’s B’Elanna, I want her Chief Engineer to B’Elanna. Okay but I bet she’s already high up in rank to serve as one. Possibly, Miral Paris then?
TLDR, it feels right to have the Enterprise be a Connie class again, and it’s so great to have this crew and command team onboard!
