2024 US Election Information
We have roughly 1 year until the 2024 US election. I've put in some research, and here are my conclusions.
TLDR for those of you who don't have time or focus: Cornel West (Democratic Socialist running as People's Party -> Green Party) is the ideal candidate to vote for - normally I wouldn't advocate voting third party, but we may actually have a shot for once, and he has excellent policies. Jill Stein (Green Party) is a potential backup, though if West drops out, our best option for Democratic party is Marianne Williamson.
Please spread this information, especially to residents of Texas, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Nevada. Detailed information under the cut.
Current Fascist and Republican Candidates
Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Asa Hutchinson, Tim Scott, Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, Ryan Binkley, and Doug Burgum.
I'm not going to entertain their details, but I will note that the information I picked up while being exposed to alt-right communities from the inside via my fascist parents earlier this year shows strong evidence that Republicans are likely going to split between Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis (viewed as a betrayal by Trump supporters), and openly fascist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (I'll cover him later).
My guess is a 6/3/1 Republican vote split between Trump/DeSantis/Kennedy, Jr..
Current Democratic Candidates
Joe Biden, Marianne Williamson, and Dean Philips.
Biden has overall failed to complete the majority of his campaign promises, and has been directly supporting Israel during the genocide of Palestine, as well as deferring to Republicans to be "bipartisan" (I don't think I have to stress enough that a bipartisan democrat is not a democrat) - do not vote for him.
Williamson is a high-school educated 71-year-old author from Los Angeles, California. She is known for being Oprah Winfrey's, "spiritual advisor," (double red flag), and dropped out during the 2020 election (another red flag).
While she supports the reinstatement of Roe v. Wade, the decriminalization of cannabis and psychedelic drugs, the reduction of CO2, and moving to 100% renewable energy by 2035, her advocacy for the outright banning of assault and semi-assault weapons for civilians without military reform of the same is a slight red flag when combined with her relationship with Oprah Winfrey (an Obama supporter, the president who authorized quite a lot of drone strikes in West Asia) and drop-out makes her not a great candidate.
Philips is a Bachelor's (Brown University) and Master's Business (University of Minnesota) educated 54-year-old three-term congressman who is noted for criticizing Biden running for a second term on account of both political moderacy and medical concerns.
Philips unfortunately wants to increase police funding for some reason, but advocated for better training, including mental health training. He also advocates for what he calls, "comprehensive immigration reform," in the form of increased border security and streamlining legal entry (this ignores the problem outlined by the UN that people seeking asylum are likely to have to enter a country illegally before they can seek support), and the only real good stance he has is giving reproductive rights to patients, rather than politicians.
Philips is essentially a moderate Republican, and is a bad candidate. Do not vote for him.
Current Independent Candidates
Fascist (not his stated political stance, but it's what he is)
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is a fascist that has openly quoted Nazi propaganda in his political campaigns, is an anti-vaccine activist, and has spread anti-science conspiracy theories such as vaccines causing autism and the non-existence of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. I cannot stress this enough, do not fucking vote for Kennedy, Jr.
Democratic Socialist
Cornel West is a Bachelor's (Harvard University), Master's, and Ph.D. (both Princeton University) educated 70-year-old progressive activist that switched his running party from the People's Party to the Green Party, despite being a both public- and self-described democratic socialist.
When asked why he wasn't running as a Democrat against Biden, he stated that, "Neither party is speaking to the pressing needs of poor and working people."
His party plans are a wealth tax on the rich, a national $27 minimum wage, a federal Universal Basic Income, 6 months of paid family leave, a 4-day work week, national free Pre-K childcare, "Immediate cessation of all oil and gas leasing projects on federal lands and waters," "Federal moratorium on fracking, carbon capture, and direct air capture technologies, geoengineering, and other false climate solutions," putting abortion rights in the Constitution, and nationalized healthcare.
Here's where I want to lay out something important. I normally wouldn't advocate for voting for a third party candidate due to the Spoiler Effect, but
Considering the United States' Democratic majority, popular vote records showing a common Republican minority, the absolutely incredible policies West stands for,
The growing support for third parties in the United States, and his policies aligning with public opinion,
Cornel West is the ideal candidate to vote for. Spread this information like wildfire - we may have one shot at the first third party win in US history in the upcoming 2024 election, and
If successful the dominant parties will be Fascist vs. Socialist, denying most, if not all, future Republican wins.
Our target toss-up states are Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Nevada.
Converting Texas to third party, or even just Democrat, will throw the Republican vote entirely and all but guarantee a Democrat, or hopefully third party, 2024 election win,
Which is absolutely possible, as Texas is majority Democrat and wins Republican votes via gerrymandering despite public opinion, which is why it swings occasionally.
Democrat states also need to be switched to majority third party votes, with particular emphasis on California, New York, and Illinois.
GET PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR CORNEL WEST!
Reference map of polling for the future 2024 election:
Tumblr media
Libertarian (slightly Conservative to alt-right, really depends on the person)
Chase Oliver is a surprisingly progressive high school educated 38-year-old anti-war Libertarian that left the Democratic party after witnessing Obama's aggressive anti-West Asian war policies who has expressed desires for criminal justice reform and ending wars abroad, though hasn't elaborated on either.
Green Party
Jill Stein is a Bachelor's (Harvard University) and Medical (Harvard Medical University) 73-year-old Jewish doctor who previously ran for and represented the Green-Rainbow Party as the governor of Massachusetts.
Stein is notable for being an activist and protestor who has both protested outside buildings and testified before legislative and other government bodies against coal plants, mercury leaks, and unclean and unsafe groundwater.
Presumably, her stances will focus on environmental protections, trans rights, and Jewish protections, making her a potential alternative should West drop out.
Conclusions:
Again, don't fucking vote for Trump, Haley, Ramaswamy, Hutchinson, Scott, DeSantis, Christie, Binkley, Burgum, Biden, Philips, or Kennedy, Jr..
Our potential backup Democratic candidate is Williamson.
The ideal candidate is West, with Stein as a viable backup.
As absurd as it sounds, I want you to vote third party for Cornel West.
If you want a wealth tax on the rich, a national $27 minimum wage, a federal Universal Basic Income,
6 months of paid family leave, a 4-day work week, national free Pre-K childcare,
"Immediate cessation of all oil and gas leasing projects on federal lands and waters," "Federal moratorium on fracking, carbon capture, and direct air capture technologies, geoengineering, and other false climate solutions,"
putting abortion rights in the Constitution, and nationalized healthcare,
VOTE FOR CORNEL WEST AND GET OTHER PEOPLE TO DO THE SAME.
WE HAVE A CHANCE AT THE FIRST THIRD PARTY WIN IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE DENIAL OF FUTURE REPUBLICAN WINS.

According to Fox 9 News, Hennepin County, Minnesota Sheriff Dave Hutchinson, who oversees county-level law enforcement in Minneapolis, made racist and homophobic comments in a series of texts to subordinates.
The texts messages, uncovered by an outside investigator, come in the weeks and months after he drunkenly crashed a police SUV while driving at 125 miles per hour.
"In a text message from Dec. 30, he refers to Suwana Kirkland, director of Dakota County Community Corrections, who at the time was seeking the DFL endorsement for Hennepin County Sheriff," said the report. "'She get (sic) dfl for sure. Black all the (sic) care about,' Hutchinson texted to a member of his staff. 'People are sick of black people getting things solely on being black,' Hutchinson continued. Kirkland, who is African American, dropped out of the race to focus on her growing family."
"In another text on May 3, a command staff member asks Hutchinson if he needs any information in preparation for a phone call with Minnesota Department of Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell," said the report. "Hutchinson responds, 'Idk. Maybe. ‘F--k you-ya bald mumbling f----t,’' using a homophobic slur. When Hutchinson was elected in 2018, he was lauded in HuffPost as the 'first openly gay sheriff in the Midwest.'"
All of this comes as Hutchinson has been on medical leave since the middle of May, and is filing paperwork for PTSD disability.
Law enforcement officials around the country have landed in hot water for offensive text messages. In March, an investigation revealed Wichita, Kansas police officers using racial slurs, mocking the murder of George Floyd, and joking about "hunting" Black people. And last year, a barrage of racist messages sent by police in Torrance, California — including exchanges about lynchings and gassing Jewish people — threw hundreds of cases into jeopardy.

ICYMI: Killing the news; Pinocchio politics; Trump’s foreign adventures; "Kevlar Ken" Paxton
Killing the news: Sadly, the newspaper where I first wrote about 60 years ago became one of the latest victims of a vulture hedge fund. The Litchfield Independent Review will end its almost-150-year run this month, alone with the Hutchinson Leader and seven other Minnesota local newspapers. They are not alone. Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism reports on the devastating losses…

WOLF PACK WEEKEND RECAP: MARCH 11th, 2024
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT—The Hartford Wolf Pack scored three of a possible four points over the weekend, extending their current point streak to five games (3-0-1-1). Thanks to their three points over the weekend, the Wolf Pack is tied with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for third place in the Atlantic Division. The Pack spent Monday morning traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they will meet the Checkers on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Friday, March 8th, 2024, Vs. Providence Bruins (7-4 W): The Wolf Pack tied their season high for both goals (seven) and powerplay goals (four) in a single game on Friday night. The Pack roared out to a 6-0 lead, blowing away the Bruins to take a 5-4 edge in the ten-game season series. Brett Berard scored the first hat trick of his professional career, scoring three times on the powerplay. He struck at 7:26 and 14:20 of the first period and made it 5-0 2:35 into the middle frame. Berard's three powerplay goals tie a franchise record for powerplay goals in a single game. Andrew Hutchinson was the last to do in on February 8th, 2008, against the Bruins. Ryan Callahan had previously done it twice. Berard's hat trick goal also stood as the game-winning goal, his team-leading eighth of the season. Alex Belzile also notched three points in his return to the lineup, scoring a goal and two assists. Blade Jenkins and Nikolas Brouillard scored a goal and an assist in the win, while Matej Pekar, Brennan Othmann, and Mac Hollowell recorded two helpers. Dylan Garand made 33 saves to pick up his career-high 16th victory of the season. With the win, the Wolf Pack are now 5-3-1-0 against the Bruins this season. The Bruins, who saw a five-game road winning streak snapped, are now 4-3-1-1 in the head-to-head matchup. Saturday, March 9th, 2024, @ Bridgeport Islanders (3-2 SOL): Trailing 1-0 through 40 minutes of play, the Wolf Pack struck twice in the third period to take a 2-1 lead over the rival Bridgeport Islanders. Belzile tied the contest 6:48 into the third period, jamming home a rebound for his 16th goal of the season. Nic Petan, making his Wolf Pack debut, earned the primary assist on the goal. 2:56 later, Jake Leschyshyn scored his sixth goal of the season at 10:41 to give the Wolf Pack a 2-1 lead and put them in the driver's seat. However, William Dufour tied the game with a shot from the right-wing faceoff circle at 12:03. Dufour's 13th goal of the season would force an overtime period, the second in as many meetings at Total Mortgage Arena between the sides. The Wolf Pack got an early penalty kill in overtime, then nearly won the game when Brouillard set up Berard on a two-on-zero. Jakub Skarek made a terrific save, keeping the Islanders alive and forcing a shootout. In the shootout, Matthew Maggio and Petan both scored to make it 1-1, entering the bottom half of the third round. Ruslan Iskhakov went between the legs and scored a beautiful goal to earn the Isles the second point. The loss snapped the Wolf Pack's seven-game winning streak in Bridgeport and their six-game winning streak overall in the season series. Quick Hits: - Brouillard has been red-hot as of late from the blue line. In his first year with the Wolf Pack, the defenseman scored an assist in seven of the team's last eight games. He's also scored a goal during that stretch and is working on a four-game point streak. - Thanks to his hat trick on Friday night, Berard leads the Wolf Pack with 22 goals on the season. He is second in the AHL in goals among rookies, tied with Tucson's Josh Doan. Logan Stankoven of the Texas Stars leads all rookies with 24 goals. - Both Berard (T-5th, 39 points) and Othmann (T-7th, 38 points) are in the top ten in points among rookies in the AHL. - On Friday, the parent New York Rangers (NHL) traded forward Turner Elson to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Nic Petan. Petan, wearing #7, made his Wolf Pack debut Saturday night in Bridgeport. He recorded an assist and scored in the shootout. - On Sunday morning, the Rangers announced a one-year contract extension for goaltender Louis Domingue. Over two seasons with the Wolf Pack, Domingue is 35-19-12 with five shutouts. - Defenseman Zach Berzolla returned to the lineup on Saturday night, playing his first AHL game since November 25th, 2023. He suffered a lower-body injury that night against the Belleville Senators. The Week Ahead: - Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, @ Charlotte Checkers (7:00 p.m., Bojangles Coliseum) - Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, @ Charlotte Checkers (7:00 p.m., Bojangles Coliseum) - Saturday, March 16th, 2024, Vs. Mugshot Monday - "Little Tall Mug" by Clarice Allgood of Mostly Good Pots with Ethiopia Single Origin Light Roast by Peace Coffee
My friend Adam (@px10_pottery) and I had a fabulous time at the annual Minnesota Pottery Festival in Hutchinson, MN.
We saw a ton of amazing pottery and had great conversations with so many incredible potters.
One of those amazing people was Clarice Allgood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I first met Clarice when I was walking through the resident artist area at Northern Clay Center and saw a small cart in the hallway overflowing with some gorgeous pottery.
Clarice said, "Hi!" and I asked if the cart was hers. She had just unloaded the kiln and was heading back to her studio space. I told her the mugs with that white slip on the black clay-body were just incredible.
It's been about 3 years since then and now I'm stoked that I finally have one of her mugs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The texture is amazing on this cup. And I love how when the sun hits the mug's lip just right, you can see some bright blue cobalt peeking through. 😍
It was great chatting with Clarice about her work. The whole day was awesome--there were Raku firing demos and a "Pottery Olympics" to watch. What a great event.

RECAP: Lions at Cowboys
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Courtesy: detroitlions The Detroit Lions faced a tough battle against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, ultimately losing 20-19. Despite the loss, the Lions demonstrated their competitiveness against one of the NFC's top teams. The game was particularly close, with the Lions taking the lead in the final seconds through a touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Amon-Ra St. Brown. However, a two-point conversion attempt was thwarted by a penalty, and a second attempt fell incomplete. The Cowboys managed to secure their closest home win of the season, breaking the Lions' hopes of ending Dallas's undefeated streak at AT&T Stadium. Detroit's defense deserves credit for holding the Cowboys to 20 points below their home scoring average for the season. A critical moment occurred when Aidan Hutchinson secured his third sack of the game, giving the Lions an opportunity to drive 89 yards for a potential game-winning score. Unfortunately, Goff was intercepted by Dallas safety Donovan Wilson, leading to a Cowboys field goal. Despite the loss, the Lions maintain a solid 11-5 record for the season and hold the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoff picture as the champions of the NFC North division. Dallas improves to 11-5, keeping their hopes alive for the NFC East title. Quarterback comparisons showed Goff completing 19 of 34 passes with a touchdown, two interceptions, and a 67.2 rating. Prescott, on the other hand, went 26-of-38 for 345 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and a 103.5 rating. A significant play in the game was Prescott's 92-yard touchdown pass to Lamb, a play that could have resulted in a safety for the Lions. Unfortunately, a missed sack opportunity and a trip by cornerback Kindle Vildor allowed the Cowboys to take the lead. Detroit struggled on third downs, converting only 4 of 13 attempts, compared to their season average of 43.6%. Wide receiver Jameson Williams left the game in the second half with an ankle injury and did not return. Looking ahead, the Lions will face the Minnesota Vikings in the next week, aiming to bounce back from this narrow defeat. Read the full article
