An Upcoming Easter Miracle, Foreshadowed By Jesus in 6x10…?
And just to be clear, 6x10 The Next World was when Jesus was frist introduced to the TWDU...
The opening minutes of TOWL 1x5 mirrored TWD 6x10 like a carbon copy.
We had cold drinks:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had finding food in cars:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had drinking soda sexily:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had spearmint and baking soda flavored toothpaste:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had interrupted sleep:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right after Rick and Daryl find the food truck in 6x10, Jesus suddenly appears before them. He comes out of nowhere, and as he does, he delivers this dialogue:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ten walkers in 11 minutes. As Noah's t-shirt taught us, 11 can be read "one one". So it could be 10 and 2 (one + one = 2), and it could also be 10x11 as in a reference to 10x11 Morningstar. Jesus was referred to as the Morningstar in Revelation 22. Read this post for more on why that's significant, and how it relates to the Slabtown clock. And keep in mind that Sirius is a Morningstar, which is fitting, because we got a surprising appearance by Father Gabriel, a one-eyed Sirius figure.
Now, I've been talking a lot about licence plates lately. Here we see another interesting exemple:
LK8-4167
Tumblr media
And the reason it's interesting is because we've seen it before, in 5x9 WHAWGO:
Tumblr media
In WHAWGO, we see it practically as we simultanously hear Beth singing Struggling Man, as this was the last episode Beth appeared in (in Tyrese's fever dream). And back when season 5 aired, someone clever in TD (I'm sorry I don't remember who, it's been like a decade) theorized that it could be a reference to Luke 8:
Tumblr media
Why Luke 8, is that particular part relevant? Well...
Tumblr media
...there is that part about Jesus raising a dead girl, I suppose that could be relevant...especially now, just before Easter...
In this post I talk about Officer Lichari's Dodge Magnum and why it's such an interesting vehicle for TD, and in this post I talk more about the symbolism around the rams.
I'm bringing that up again, because the car where Rick and Michonne found the RAMen noodles was in fact a Dodge:
Tumblr media
...and the Dodge logo is a ram...
Tumblr media
And we did see some very fierce taxidermy rams in TOWL 1x5:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...so yeah! Happy Easter I guess! Let's keep an eye out for suspiscious resurrections!

🦚 geraskier fic rec 🐺
Better Than The Memory by objectlesson (E)
Warnings:
Squick and possible consent issues re: clothing?? Idk.
Author’s Summary:
Sure, Geralt was muscley and had beautiful, shapely, irritatingly symmetrical lips and an ass shaped by the hands of the gods themselves but—those features alone have never been enough to do it for Jaskier. He’s not a ruffian. He needs a little more than natural strength, he needs effort. It shouldn’t matter that Geralt is gifted in certain areas because he bathes once a week maybe if they’re lucky and lives in his armor and kisses his horse on the mouth and is otherwise a truly disgusting human. Or not human. A truly disgusting witcher.
So it’s absurd and quite shocking, really, when Jaskier starts to get hard every time he can smell Geralt of Rivia’s sweat.
Whoops’ words:
So. I’m working on a fic that involves some sweat/pit/stink kink, right? And I thought to myself hmm lets see what that ao3 tag is like, real casual, just out of curiosity...... 👀💦 Listen to me, listen-- I wasn’t even remotely prepared for this?? This shit is so hot, I’m embarrassed in my office by myself.
Jaskier’s just so fucking desperately turned on the whole way through and disgusted by how horned up he is about Geralt being fucking gross and well fuck me dude I guess I feel that on a newly awoken personal level?
And of course Geralt can smell that. I love fics where Geralt knows what’s up all along and just doesn’t say anything until the climax, no pun intended. And woof what a climax it is, because besides being so ungodly hot, there’s a few emotional lines that made me just--get up and walk in a circle for a second.
This fic is like 2 years old and I’m not sure she even writes for the witcher anymore, but boy howdy if you’re into raunch, give this a look. ⭐

RULES: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPS.
Hey! @resident-lambert-hoe tagged me! How dare you call me out like this in my own home!!
Just kidding, sure, let’s play! 💕 For my own sake, only going to count the ones that are actually in some way “in-progress”, as in I have opened them recently and still tend to them, because… I got folders full of bunnies and wildflowers I’m letting grow wild until I figure out if they need to be cleaned up and presented to the world wild web. 😅
…This was almost embarrassing to type out lmfao, the Fandom Trumps Hate fics get such nice, organized titles and then just jdfiasdlfasj BUT I only count 15 truly in progress WIPS. Plus another FTH fic once I get the prompt that will take spot #3, but I digress...
In order of most recent edits!! (with ships in parentheses)

🚨Roe's Emergency Fandom Response 🚨
We all heard they shot Roe. In the spirit of leaning into anger > despair, I’m making a very informal invite to tumblr at large.
If you are a creator willing to make something as thank you gift for people who make a donation to an abortion fund or a person willing to be said donor, hear ye, hear ye.
I threw together a google form for creators whose inboxes are open to people coming to them with requests in exchange for donations to an abortion fund or other reproductive justice organization. Assuming this gains traction, potential donors can review interested creators here.
Of course, if google makes you itch, feel free to just reblog this post and share your specific details/offerings below.
This is not a formal/moderated event. It's just a repository to keep a running list of interested creators for donors to review. Specific details (what will be created, minimum/proof of donations, timeline for completion, etc.) will need to be worked out between creators and donors BEFORE the donation is made.
You can message me at any point if you’d like your response deleted from the google sheet.
And as always, you’re not hopeless.
Thank you. Even being here counts for something, so thank you, thank you.

What is the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme by RBI, and How to Invest in It?
Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) schemes represent a government-backed initiative where gold serves as the underlying asset for these securities. They serve as an attractive alternative to physical gold ownership. Investors are required to make a cash payment at the time of issuance, and upon maturity, they receive the redemption amount in cash. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) administers the issuance of these bonds on behalf of the government.
Tumblr media
Advantages of the Scheme Investors benefit from the protection of the value of the gold they purchase, as they receive the prevailing market price upon redemption or premature redemption. SGBs offer a more secure option compared to storing physical gold, reducing associated risks and expenses. At maturity, investors are assured of receiving the market value of gold along with monthly interest. Importantly, SGBs do not carry the typical complications associated with gold jewelry, such as wastage and making charges.
Eligibility SGBs are open to Indian residents, including individuals, trusts, Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs), universities, and charitable institutions. Individual investors who change their status to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) can continue to hold their SGBs until maturity or redemption.
Scheme Tenure SGBs have an initial 8-year term, with investors having the option to exit in the fifth, sixth, or seventh year.
Joint Holding The RBI permits joint holding of SGBs.
Minimum and Maximum Investment Limits Individuals can invest a minimum of one gram and a maximum of four kilograms. The minimum investment is consistent across all entities, but for HUFs, the maximum limit is four kilograms, and for trusts and similar entities, it is twenty kilograms. In cases of joint ownership, the limit applies only to the primary applicant. The annual investment ceiling encompasses bonds subscribed to during the government's initial issuance and those acquired in the secondary market. Investments made as collateral with banks and other financial institutions are excluded from this limit.
Redemption Amount Upon maturity, Gold Bonds are redeemed in Indian Rupees, with the redemption price based on the average closing price of 999 pure gold over the preceding three business days, as reported by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Limited. Interest and redemption proceeds are credited to the customer's specified bank account. Investors are notified one month prior to the bond's maturity. Any changes in account details or contact information must be promptly communicated to the bank/SHCIL/Post Office.
Premature Encashment Despite the 8-year term, early withdrawal is possible on coupon payment days starting from the fifth year of issuance. Bonds can also be transferred to another eligible investor. Requests for early redemption should be made to the relevant bank/SHCIL office/Post Office/agent at least thirty days before the coupon payment date. RBI considers early redemption requests only if the investor visits the respective bank or post office at least one day before the coupon payment date. The redeemed funds are deposited into the customer's designated bank account as specified during the initial bond application.
Risks There is a risk of capital loss if the market price of gold declines. However, investors retain ownership of the gold units they have purchased.
Bond Pricing The principal amount of Gold Bonds is denominated in Indian Rupees, determined by the simple average of the closing price of 999 purity gold announced by the India Bullion and Jewelers Association Limited during the last three business days of the week preceding the subscription period.
Tax Implications Interest earned on the bonds is subject to taxation. Capital gains tax on SGB redemption has been waived. Long-term capital gains resulting from bond transfers are eligible for indexation benefits. TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) does not apply to the Bond, but bondholders are responsible for complying with tax regulations.
Application Process Customers can apply online through the websites of scheduled commercial banks, listed below. For online applications with digital payments, the Gold Bond price is discounted by Rs. 50 per gram from the nominal value. Application forms are available at issuing banks, SHCIL offices, designated Post Offices, and through agents. Additionally, they can be downloaded from the RBI's website. Some banks also offer online application services.
In conclusion, the Sovereign Gold Bond scheme represents a secure and low-risk investment opportunity designed to offer investors the prospect of substantial returns. For those seeking financial stability and future investment potential, this scheme should be a consideration.

TWD 10x19: More Stuff Pointing to Beth’s Imminent Return
Morning Everyone! As you can see, these are just a few more odds and ends about 10x19 that I didn’t cover yesterday. It’s not so much details or not details as just things I didn’t get around to in my first post, which was already very long. So, in no particular order, here goes.
***As always, spoilers abound below for 10x19. Don’t read until you’ve watched!***
First off, there were several Beth references that didn’t occur to me until I was watching the episode live.
Gabriel’s whole speech about how the bible is “still” important.
He gives Mays this rundown about how the word of God is still important and applicable. How it’s a beacon of light in an otherwise very dark world.
Tumblr media
Now, I’m sure lots of people picked up on this as a Beth reference. Talk of the bible. Talk of light in the darkness. These are symbols that have definitely been used around her before. But what struck me upon rewatching it was the way he said it was “still” important. It can be directly linked to her “I still sing.” And if you analyze both conversations, both are about transcendence, rather than just surviving.
Mays fires his gun at the little office, and then only afterward, tells Gabriel Aaron is inside and asks, “do you think he made it?”
Guys, this is subtle, but this is a huge parallel of Beth. Think about it. Aaron being in the office could almost represent a tomb of some kind. He’s tied up (imprisonment). Mays shoots the gun (bullets). Then asks, “Do you think he made it?” When he goes to check, he says, “looks like he’s still breathing.” And then, when he brings Aaron out, he’s bleeding from a wound in the left side of his forehead. Exactly same place as where Beth was shot.
Tumblr media
I can’t believe it took me like 3x watching the episode to pick that up, lol.
Gabriel’s story about his mentor
I felt like this had to be important, but it was hard for me to say how. And even now, I don’t think I have it all pinned down, but it may not matter. This speech may actually be more about Gabriel and his character than anything else.
I did wonder if the mentor in his story could represent Rick. It doesn’t all fit in detail (Rick’s not the biggest people person out there, lol) but there was a time when Rick really didn’t like Gabriel and wouldn’t give him the time of day (understandably) but eventually Gabriel earned his trust and they did become friends. Even if I’m right that this represents Rick, I’m not sure what the point of having this speech here is. It’s probably the kind of thing I’ll have to return to.
Tumblr media
As always, I wanted to relate it to Beth, but I wasn’t sure how. I did feel somewhat justified in looking for TD clues here, not only because the episode is so heavy in them, but because right before Gabriel starts relating the story about his mentor, he says, “I’m serious.” And there were a few small clues, such as talk of driving 80 mph (Beth’s been missing 8 years in the show). But that’s pretty small.
But the one big reference that got me kind of excited was the funeral reference. He talked about going to a funeral with his mentor. While there have obviously been other funerals, the one really big one we saw Gabriel preside over was Tyreese’s in 5x09. A huge Beth episode, where we actually saw the number 8 next to her. And we have to assume, if TF tried to bury Beth, that he would have presided there, too. We just haven’t seen that, yet.
But here’s what got me. Even though Gabriel says this was the funeral of the young man, he said he was a college kid. And while Beth never went to college that we know, in Still Daryl did accuse her of looking for hooch like some dumb college bitch.
So, between that and all the other callbacks and references in this episode, I do think this was a subtle reference to her and perhaps to her “funeral” that we never saw. I’m unsure why they’ve put it here or how it’s supposed to function for us, but I think that will become more clear as the story progresses.
TTD:
Tumblr media
I’m not going to do a separate Talking Dead post this week, because there just wasn’t tons to point to in this episode. Basically, there were three things that jumped out at me.
1. Ross Marquand mentioned the three people exiled from Alexandria in S5. And it seemed like a really random reference to bring up. I’m not sure why he did. For one thing, it’s a callback to S5. But that thing about those three being exiled was never hugely resolved. I know a couple of them were meant to be the walkers Aaron and Maggie found in the sewer, but still. It feels unresolved to me, and him bringing them up randomly here felt significant.
2. The Golf Sequence. So, I mentioned the golf parallels in the episode yesterday, but apparently there was a much larger, extended golf sequence where Aaron and Gabriel put together a whole mini golf course, but it got cut from the episode for time. So, not a big deal. It’s just that there would have been MUCH larger golf parallels in this episode if they could have included them.
3. The writer talked about how, at the end of the episode, where we see Gabriel and Aaron heading toward he water tower, there’s a dark, ominous forest between them and the water tower, and anything might happen in there. So, it     sounds like this story with the two of them isn’t exactly over, and we’ll probably see another episode about the two of them in S11.
Alright, I said yesterday I’d talk about where this is going. It still sounds like one of these two might die, and you know I lean toward it being Gabriel. I did have a few people message me and point out that Aaron putting a gun to his head might foreshadow his death, and that’s a possibility. I can’t deny it. Honestly, I don’t follow the symbolism around either of these characters (except where it indicates Beth) closely enough to make an educated prediction here. But I do still lean toward it being Gabriel. Mostly because, as I’ve said before, he’s the Sirius character. And there’s one more thing that may indicate this.
The Bible Passage Gabriel Looks At:
I talked yesterday about how Gabriel opened one of the bibles and we could see the passage. It’s 1 Samuel: 1-21. Read the passage HERE.
Tumblr media
Now, this passage basically talks about two things. This is where a new king needs to be crowned, and that king will eventually be David. First, the prophet (Samuel) goes to Bethlehem to offer up a sacrifice so the Lord will show him who is to be the new king.
Just the fact that we’re talking about a sacrifice, and it’s Gabriel reading the passage, screams death omen to me.
Also remember that both because of the cross she wore in the hallway at Grady, and because of Gabriel’s (yes, Gabriel’s) strange words to Sasha in 5x16 about “sacrificing one of your own,” Beth is often seen as a symbolic sacrifice of some kind. (I even think his white shirt in 5x16 could point toward him being a sacrifice, but that’s a whole other theory.)
Tumblr media
Back to the bible reference. So the second thing that’s done here is that each of Jessie’s sons is brought before the prophet so he can tell which one the Lord has anointed to be king, but he doesn’t choose any of them, saying the Lord is telling him that the king is not among them. He asks if these are all of Jessie’s sons, to which they reply that the youngest (David) is not present.
Now, if you know anything of the bible, David does become king, but they didn’t think to bring him before the prophet here, because they just didn’t think he was “king” material. David was a shepherd. He was humble. He was a poet and a bard.
Yes, you read that right. David sang. He actually sang very beautifully. Tended to totally mesmerize the court with his singing.
Sound like that could be a Beth parallel to you?
In this passage, David is not crowned king, but he is anointed to be king one day. I also notice that the page Gabriel looks at says 1 Sam 16:21, which just means verse 21 is the last verse on that page. Verse 21 ends with David basically living by and learning from the current king, Saul.
Just reminds me of Rick declaring Beth the “new sheriff in town” and how we’ve always said she’ll be his protégé.
So, all I’m saying is that I think this passage suggests both a sacrifice of some kind, and the coming of a new “king” (read: sheriff) that has a lot of things in common with Beth. And since it’s Gabriel who opens the bible, it makes sense that he’ll be the one to die as or just before she arrives. Just saying.
Okay, that’s all I have for today. I’ll get to some Asks tomorrow.

Before I begin, I want to make it known that this is OPTIONAL. I’m going to try to throw one of these up every week or so, and you’re free to do any of these optional challenges at any time. It doesn’t matter how long ago I posted the challenge prompt. You will want to tag them with sanctuary:challenge and you will want to @tdsimportant so that I am sure to find it and reblog it. You can put these in your headcanon and the #ooc-optional-tasks channels in the Discord server too.
The TDS OPTIONAL CHALLENGE for this week is A SEX QUESTIONNAIRE.
What does that mean? We’re challenging you to answer the questions under the readmore for your character(s). This challenge is going to be done a little differently, in order to get the most interaction and use out of this as possible. First, reply IN CHARACTER to each question. Then reply OUT OF CHARACTER with strikethroughs. That way, your character(s) get the chance to interact on the dash about this, while documenting both the truth and what your character is willing to admit to. When you’re all done, count how many times you said yes and feel free to document the number on your post somewhere. See how many questions you answered YES to and add them up to find out how naughty your character(s) really are.
1-10: You’re sexually inexperienced. You’re either a virgin, or you have missionary sex with your long-term partner every night at nine o’clock. No exceptions.
11-20: Your friends don’t wince when you tell them sex stories, because they can usually relate. Your bedroom habits are pretty average — which isn’t a bad thing. You have a healthy sex life. Good for you!
21-30: You get offended whenever people call you vanilla, because you know you’re open-minded. You’ll try MOST things, but not everything. You definitely aren’t porn star material, but you’re still a lot of fun to fuck.

A (Very Long) Theater Glossary
I’ll be adding to this as I add chapters—please let me know if any terms aren’t clear, correct, or if I’m missing any!
(now alphabetized by chapter by the very awesome @osmriceu)
You can read the fic here, and find the glossary below the cut!
CHAPTER 1
Actor’s Equity: The theater actor’s union. An actor will accrue “points” mainly by being in productions under an Equity contract, or in theaters associated with the union. At a certain number of points, they will get their Equity card and be part of the union.
Assistant stage manager (ASM): The stage manager’s arms and legs. The amount of them is dependent on the size of the production, but often there are only two. They communicate with each other, members of the run crew and the stage manager over single-ear headsets, usually staying backstage to assist in the running of the show, as well as helping during rehearsals, with paperwork, and any other duties that may arise during the course of a production.
Black box: A type of theater, literally a room painted black on all sides, usually with a tension grid (will explain later) for hanging lights and curtains. Here, it is where they’re having their rehearsals, but it can also be used for shows. Some theaters will have multiple stages for rehearsals/multiple shows. Picture here.
Box office/box: Where audience members will get their tickets. Run by the box office manager (once Glimmer, now Micah.)
Cue: A trigger for an action, usually called by the stage manager. These are often scenery, lighting or sound cues, but there are many assorted cues that a stage manager may call depending on the needs of the production.
Curtain speech (the title of the chapter lol): Before a show, the director, artistic director of the theater, or other manager will speak on stage about the goings on in the theater and other events of import. It’s called a curtain speech because it usually happens in front of a curtain, but it doesn’t have to.
Fly rail: The area where a backstage crew member will pull ropes that raise and lower scenery/curtains/etc. Picture here.
Fly system: A series of counterweighted pulleys that allow scenery, soft goods (curtains, screens, etc), and even actors to be raised and lowered by a fly rail operator. The operator will pull ropes, usually at a stage manager’s cue, to do so. Diagram here.
Half-bricks/stage weights: Solid bricks of metal with grooves cut out of either end. Each is usually around 20lbs (~9kg.) Mostly used as counterweights to operate a fly system. Picture here.
“In the house”: Here, it refers to Bow working as an usher, directing audience members to their seats.
Lead: The lead actor/star of the show.
Lighting board/console: The device that programs and controls all lights used in a show. Manned by the light board operator. It is often moved out during technical rehearsals. Pictures here.
Loading rail: In theaters with a fly system, it is usually a second-floor catwalk along the side of a stage wall where someone can load weight on to the fly system to counterbalance it.
“Mid-stage coming in/going out”: Here, Scorpia is announcing that she’s using the fly system to bring a curtain down so it’s visible, and then back up to be hidden. Its location is important too (mid-stage,) as well as Entrapta’s acknowledgement of “thank you” because in the theater, as is the case anywhere, you don’t want a pipe coming down on your head. These call-and-responses are very common when working with dangerous technical elements.
Off-Broadway: Theaters specifically in Manhattan, New York City with an occupancy of between 100 and 499.
“Operating on blind”: Using the “blind” feature of a lighting board, which essentially allows you to program lights in the board without actually turning them on.
Principal’s dressing room: A private dressing room for the lead actor/star of the show/dumb jock lesbian.
Production booth: The room behind the audience where the stage manager operates the show from. Usually houses the lighting board and assorted lighting and sound equipment. Picture here.
Projections: Exactly what they sound like. Projection designers will often use parts of the set and even walls of the theater to project images on to, making solid pieces look animated. Picture here.
Scene shop foreman: The person in charge of safety and care of all crew and elements of the scene shop.
Set/shop crew: Carpenters and welders. The people responsible for building the scenery. They usually work out of a scene shop, where scenery pieces are built and housed until they are moved to the theater. This crew then installs the scenery on-location. This was one of my main jobs! :)
Spike tape: Usually very bright, comes in many colors. Used mainly on the floor of the stage to denote where furniture, set pieces, and other props will be on stage, so when there needs to be a shift in scenery, it can be set in the right place. Picture here.
Stage manager (SM): Essentially the liaison between all elements of a show. Runs rehearsals, keeps track of time, does paperwork, calls when the lights, sounds, and assorted other show elements happen during the show, among so many other things.
Tech crew: The technical crew responsible for all non-performance elements of the show. Carpenters, welders, lighting and sound technicians, the list goes on forever.
Technical director (TD): The person responsible for overseeing all technical elements of a show. Be it set building, lighting, sound, projections—they’re the boss and often the liaison between the different departments of tech.
The house: Where the audience sits.
Tie line: Thin black or white rope used mainly to attach curtains to pipes so they can be hung in the air.
Universe: In very simple terms, one universe is the 512 lights a lighting console with a single output can handle. More advanced boards have multiple outputs, and therefore can handle more than 512 lights.
-
CHAPTER 2
Blocking: The positions and movements of actors on stage. Usually decided by a director or choreographer.
Fight captain: The cast member responsible for overseeing the choreography of fight scenes.
Ghost light: A light that is placed on the stage after everyone has left the theater. Meant to offer some light, as most theaters are very dark when empty, but also meant to help guide theater ghosts. ;)
Leko light: A type of stage light. Newer versions of this light are more commonly referred to as Source 4′s. Picture here.
Stage directions: Sections of text in the script that describe potential actor movement, scenery, lighting, and other effects and elements that are to exist within a given scene/moment. Also describe how lines are to be read (intent, volume, etc.) Often read by an ASM at a table read.
Table read: The gathering of director, actors, and management at a table where the script of the show is read out loud for the first time.
-
CHAPTER 3
Contact sheet: A paper with contact information for everyone involved in a production.
Costume shop: Where all costumes are made/altered/and sometimes stored. Picture here.
Daily call: The list of actors required (or “called”) for a rehearsal. Usually placed on a call board (a cork board near where actors and crew enter the space,) where all pertinent information from stage management is posted for everyone to see.
Fitting sheet: Paperwork outlining each actor’s measurements, to be used when making costumes.
Green room: Essentially a break room for actors and crew. Sometimes actually painted green. Picture here.
Ground plan: A 2-dimensional diagram of the set from an aerial view. In a rehearsal space, it will be outlined in brightly-colored tape on the floor so actors can have an idea of where set pieces, stairs, and other objects will be on stage. Picture here.
Line notes: The first day rehearsals are conducted without the actors having access to their scripts is the first day ASMs will write down line notes. These are where the ASMs can keep track of a particular actor’s mistakes in regards to their lines. The actors are given these pages at the end of each rehearsal to brush up on problem sections.
Rehearsal report: Usually done by the stage manager or assistant stage manager, this is the log of what happened during any given rehearsal, along with notes for designers, length of rehearsal, and any other pertinent information.
-
CHAPTER 4
A1: An audio engineer. Responsible for most setup and technical audio elements of a show. Communicates often with the sound designer and A2 (see next).
A2/“mic wrangler”: The person responsible for helping actors with microphones, and maintaining said microphones (batteries, sound checks, other general maintenance) for use in the show. This was also one of my jobs! :)
Cardinal stage/house directions (diagram here)
(Back)stage left/(back)stage right: Left and right from the perspective of someone onstage or backstage, facing the audience.
Downstage: Onstage, towards the audience.
House left/right: Left and right from the perspective of someone in the audience, facing the stage.
Upstage: Onstage, away from the audience.
Ear rig: A setup for a lavaliere mic (see definition) where the mic capsule and wire are attached to a piece of metal or plastic that goes around the ear of an actor. Example here.
“Giving notes”: In this context, after a rehearsal, the director will give the cast suggestions/direction that they might not have been able to implement during the rehearsal. Notes sessions can happen after the rehearsal is over. Notes can also be given to/received from the designers of the technical elements of the show (light, sound, costume, props, projections, set, etc.)
Halo mic: A setup for a lavaliere mic (see below) where the mic capsule (picture here) rests at the center of an actor’s hairline. Example here.
House manager: The person responsible for opening the house to the audience, addressing patron concerns, and communicating with stage management.
Lavaliere mic/lav: A small, wireless microphone used by actors. Picture here.
Mic belt: An elastic belt with a pouch that holds the transmitter for an actor’s wireless mic. Picture here.
Mixing: Mixing a show involves adjusting sounds, adding effects, and raising/lowering the volume of all audio cues/music that will play during the show. In shows that have microphones that need to be adjusted manually during the course of the show, an audio engineer (A1) will use the mixing board to do this. This is known as “live mixing”.
Prop master: The person in charge of acquiring/making all props in a show. This can range from small, handheld items, to pieces of furniture, to real food/other consumable items.
Run crew: The people that work backstage during a show. This usually refers to those crew members that move set pieces/props, but can pretty much refer to anyone backstage, doing anything. Usually under the supervision of an ASM. I worked on run crew for a bunch of shows—the longest for 8 months! :)
“Run cue thirty-six”: In lighting and sound programming, cues are numbered or lettered so that a stage manager can call them during a show, and so that they can be ordered easily. “Running a cue” just means that the light or sound board operator will turn that particular cue on.
“Show blacks”: An entirely black outfit used by members of the run crew (see definition) to stay hidden during a show. Since most shows aim to keep areas behind and to either side of the stage in the dark, this allows crew members to blend in easier.
Soundboard/mixing console: The device that programs and controls all sound effects/music used in a show. Manned by the soundboard operator. Picture here.
The rack: A piece of machinery that can allow an A2 (see below) or other backstage technician to control mic levels and other audio elements. Picture here.
Transpore/mic tape: Porous, opaque tape used for securing the thin wires of actor’s microphones to their skin. Often leaves a sticky residue/sweats right off. I hate it. Picture here.
Wings: The sides of the stage, usually hidden from the audience.
-
CHAPTER 5
Tech week: The week (more or less) that all technical elements of a show are practiced with actors onstage. The week before the opening performances of a show.
Equity card: (see Actor’s Equity definition)
Fly harness: What the performer who will be flying wears so that they can be hoisted safely. There are multiple types depending on what movements the performer will be doing.
God mic: A microphone used mainly by the stage manager and director during tech week to address the cast and crew wherever they may be in the theater. During tech week, it is hooked up to be heard on the stage as well as throughout the theater, but when live performances begin, it will be hooked up to a theater’s PA system so that the stage manager’s voice can only be heard backstage by those working on the show.
Rigging: Any work that involves using ropes, pulleys, chains, or other such implements to hang curtains, pieces of scenery, and other objects that might hang from above the stage. A rigger is required to have some knowledge of proper weight distributions and load-bearing pipes (known in the theater as battens) to safely rig these objects. A rigger may also be responsible for overseeing a fly system or any of the performers that will have to fly.
-
CHAPTER 6
Lenses: A convex piece of glass or other refractive material used in stage lights. Picture here.
Lighting plot: The diagram made by the lighting designer and used by the master electrician (the person in charge of all technical lighting elements, often shortened to “ME”)  and the rest of the lighting crew that outlines where all lights will be and what lights will be used. Picture here.
One-person lift (Genie): More often referred to as a “Genie” (after the company that makes most of them.) It is an electric (can be battery- or cable-powered) lift that can raise a person upwards of 40ft (~12m) in the air to work on lights, curtains, and other stage elements that may be high up. Picture here.
“Par” (Par can/PAR 64): A type of stage light. Picture here.
“The bucket”: The part of a lift that a person stands in.
Ten-out-of-twelves: Twelve-hour rehearsals that have an hour break for lunch and an hour break for dinner, amounting in ten hours out of twelve being used to work.
-
CHAPTER 7
Prop table: Tables kept backstage that are labeled (often by an ASM or prop master) with each prop that appears in the show. Each prop usually has a special place on or under the table that it will always be returned to when not in use. This keeps props from getting lost (most of the time.) Example here.
Safety cable: All stage lights have a piece of metal aircraft-grade cable attached to them that is the first and last thing attached to the pipe the light will be hung from. It acts as another layer of protection, should the light come loose. Example here.
Shift plot: Usually made by someone in management, a shift plot is a detailed list of how the show will run. It can outline when actors exit and enter, when large props or scenery will be moved on or offstage, when costume changes will be done, and any other information that will be useful to the backstage crew in regards to running the show. It is often posted somewhere backstage for everyone to see.
-
CHAPTER 8
“Break a leg”: Used in the theater in place of “good luck”. (It’s supposed to be bad luck in the theater to say “good luck”.) The history I always heard is that in the days of Vaudeville shows, there was no guarantee that an actor would get to perform, so the hope was that they’d “break”, or walk beyond the “legs” (the long curtains that obscure backstage from the audience) and get on stage.
“Calling half hour/fifteen/ten/five/etc.”: A stage manager will say over headset to their ASMs when a show is a half hour, fifteen, ten, and five minutes from beginning. The ASMs will relay this information to the actors and crew (if they are not on headsets as well.)
Dress rehearsal: Some of the last rehearsals before a show opens. These rehearsals are the first in full costumes, and incorporate all technical elements of the show.
Foley: The art of designing sounds. Here’s a cool video on foley.
Haze: One of two primary kinds of atmospheric effects. Usually produced by a haze machine, haze hangs in the air while fog rolls low to the ground.
Previews: Usually the week a show opens there will be anywhere between one and four nights of previews in which press events happen and critics come. During previews, show elements can still be changed before the opening night.
Quick change: When an actor has to change from costume to costume in a short amount of time, they will have dressers backstage that will assist them in doing so. Costumes are often designed with these changes in mind, and may have snaps or velcro for easy removal and dressing.
“Thank you five/ten/half hour/etc.”: The acknowledgement that there are five/ten/thirty/etc minutes until the show starts.
Top-of-show: The name of this story!! (Also, literally, the beginning of the show.)

Note
working for the bruins and it being kinda awkward and tense between you and mo after they loose to boston in game 7?
THIS PROMPT, OH MY GOODNESS. Hope I did it justice with the angst.
The entire series, the entire season, the entire time you worked for the Bruins you never imagined it would end like this. Sure, the Leafs had faced the Bruins three times in the playoffs since 2013 but what were the chances it would happen again.
You were so stupid.
You should’ve known you had been tempting fate the entire time.
You should’ve thought better and more level-headed when Morgan told you that no matter what, it’d be fine no matter the outcome.
You should’ve had an actual conversation about this.
And when that final buzzer sounded, you jumped up with your co-workers, who were just as tired as you were, broken down, celebrating in pure elation and relief and ran onto the ice not even for one second thinking of Morgan until you watched as he hung his head as the Bruins celebrated. You couldn’t react fast enough and he lifted his head just in time to catch you, pure joy, smile radiating bright enough to light TD Garden on its own.
Your heart thudded to a stop in your chest and shattered into millions of pieces. Your boyfriend, who had been so supportive hundreds of miles away, who visited you when he could, who flew you out when you could, who encouraged you to chase every single one your dreams just saw his childhood dream crumble right before his eyes at the expense of your own happiness.
You didn’t even have time to throw him a glance of pity before you were pulled away by the PR staff directing you to capture Tuukka’s celebration for social. When you had finally found a second to glance over your shoulder, his eyes dropped down, his head shaking.
“Y/N, focus!” your co-worker yelled at you, running off to oversee the interviews taking place by the benches. And you had no choice but return to work.
By the time you had finished up and returned to the locker rooms for post-game, your co-worker had already claimed B’s coverage and you had no choice but to return to your offices but not before being stopped by a barrage of Leafs returning to their bus.
You stopped out of courtesy and just maybe to catch a glimpse of Mo before he had to return to his hotel and you got what you wished for.
None of your friends even acknowledged you or looked at you despite being a part of the Leafs family the three years you had been with Morgan and that you understood. What you couldn’t understand was Jake audibly telling Morgan that you were standing there and Morgan shrugging his shoulders and walking by you like you were invisible.
Your heart broke and your breath halted, your blood running cold in your veins. It hurt you.
You moved, your feet carrying you so that you walked in stride alongside your boyfriend of three years.
“Mo,” you whispered only loud enough that he and Jake could hear it so as to not get in trouble. You watched as Jake lifted his head to look at his best friend who walked stoically between you two.
You huffed readjusting your heavy bag on your shoulders which wasn’t helping much with the pace you had to keep.
“Morgan, are you going to even look at her?” Jake asked firmly as he took in your struggle. Morgan didn’t even bat an eyelash, continuing to stare at his feet as he beelined for the bus. That was until Jake had anything to do with it and shoved Morgan just enough for him to collide with you, causing you to drop your bag and thankfully, not your laptop.
“Dude!” Mo yells in frustration, causing busy eyes around you to float toward where the three of you were standing.
Your heart sinks in your chest and your stomach falls when he barely even looked at you, instead glaring at his best friend before taking off.
“Fuck,” you mumble, your hand quickly swatting at the tears that were inevitably coming. You bend down to gather your things when Jake’s hands join yours.
“Jake, you don’t have to—“
“You don’t deserve this, Y/N.” He gathered your media guide, notebooks and pens and shoved them back into your bag.
“Jake, you’ve had a long day, don’t worry about me.” You stand up and pull the strap over your shoulder before you take off, practically running for the privacy of your office.
Once in your space with the door closed behind you, you slide down, your laptop gently falling along your bag onto the carpeted floor. You pull your legs to your chest and try to regulate your breathing. Your mind was racing. Your heart pounding. Your ears were ringing.
“Fuck,” you cursed, trying to count to ten. “One,” breathe. “Two,” breathe.
Your phone buzzes in your hand and before you could even reach three, you’re thrown off again, this time by a message from Jake:
He’s talking to you tonight. I don’t fucking care. We’re still at the Ritz. Come whenever you’re done at work. I’m not letting him do this to you.
You throw your head back in frustration hitting the solid wood door but you don’t even care. You don’t know how you’re going to deal with this at all.
“Fuck,” you curse again and begin scrambling when you hear the feet of others that share your office suite and realize you have quite a bit of work left before you could even think of leaving. You swipe at the tears that fell from your eyes and try your best to look put together while feeling anything but.
Your fingers type shakily, your brain going into overdrive as you tried to process what it was you were tweeting while you tried to calm and distract yourself at the same time.
The quiet knock at your door goes unnoticed with your noise cancelling headphones drowning out all possible distractions until a hand claps on your shoulder causing you to audibly gasp and jump.
“Hey, how’re you doing? Almost done?” your flirty co-worker asks, a grin spreading across his cheeks.
“Yeah,” you mumbled. “Just wrapping up.”
“You wanna get outta here? A lot of us are going out to celebrate.”
You shrink away from him closing your laptop and standing up to create as much distance between the two of you as possible.
“I have something I have to take care of.” You begin to stuff your backpack with your belongings not even bothering to keep polite eye contact.
“At 10:45 at night?” he points out.
You shake your head. “I just gotta go, Ryan. I—“ you don’t even hesitate moving past him and holding your door open for him to leave, locking up and turning on your heel before he could even come up with some retort.
You practically run to your car, leaning your head back against the seat rest as soon as you lock the door behind you. Your eyes fall close and a tear escapes.
Before you could talk yourself down and head home, you put your car into drive and pull out into traffic in the direction of the Leafs’ hotel.
I’m parking, you text Jake.
You sit in your car for a moment, dreading every second of what is to come.
It had never been this bad with Morgan. Everything had always been easy. You had gotten into arguments before but it was always resolved at the end of the day when he crawled into bed with you and pressed a kiss to your shoulder, whispered an apology. If this wasn’t resolved, who knew what was to come? He wasn’t going to be here with you come sunrise. You didn’t have much time.
Your time was cut even shorter when you spotted Morgan waiting for you in the lobby. He didn’t even wait for you to come to him. He didn’t want to.
Your arms wrap around yourself, holding yourself together.
When you approach him, you get nothing but a cold, empty stare.
“Hey,” you greet, coming to a stop in front of where he sat on a one seat chair in the shadows of the lobby.
“Hi.” You stood there awkwardly before turning around and slowly lowering yourself to the coffee table behind you, your knees pressed up against Morgan’s.
You sigh, breathing coming more difficult that you could even imagine.
“Talk to me,” you beg trying to grab his hands out of his lap. You needed to feel him, his warmth to know that you were going to be okay. Your heart only breaks even more when he pulls his hands away from you and he leans back in the chair.
“What is there to talk about?” he questions stubbornly, his blue eyes nothing but harsh when they take your desperation in.
And suddenly you’re angry about his passiveness. “So what? This is it? You don’t want to look at me? Talk to me anymore? My touch is so disgusting that you have to move away?” You could feel the angry tears touch your cheeks, leave their trail.
“You don’t want to see me anymore because of a fucking loss that I had nothing to do with? Something you said wouldn’t bother you, wouldn’t hinder us.” You wanted to inflict pain on him, the same kind of pain he was inflicting on you. “You coward.”
That got him. That hit him. The fire ignited in his eyes and he leaned forward and laughs.
“You think this is funny? Morgan, I haven’t slept well in weeks. I haven’t felt normal and unstressed and for once, for a split second I was happy and you—“
“You’re stressed?” Morgan cut you off. “You don’t know what that’s like.”
You drop your gaze from Morgan’s and shake your head, wiping the tears away. You couldn’t get to him. You didn’t know this man.
“I didn’t expect you to be happy. I just wanted you to be proud,” you whisper quietly, breaking. “I’m—I’m going home,” you sigh, having given up. You stand to leave without looking at him but you couldn’t help it. You take one last look at Morgan who had returned his attention to the phone in his hand.
“So you don’t want to see me? Don’t want me in Vancouver with you this summer?” You couldn’t help the defeat in your voice. Everything about you was beaten down.
You watched as Morgan’s face contorted with something, his eyebrows pulling together although he doesn’t look away from the screen in his hand.
“I don’t know… what I do know is that I have a flight to catch tomorrow and loose ends to tie up in Toronto so I should get going.” You flinched as he got up abruptly and brushed past you, his hand gently falling along your forearm in the process to stabilize you. You closed your eyes as his fingers lingered, though you were sure you imagined it as an act of self-preservation.
The walk back to your car was a cold and lonely one despite your warm coat, Morgan’s old scarf wrapped around you and the pitying look Jake shot you as you found your way back home.
It had been four days and two home games since you had any contact with Morgan. To say you were exhausted was an absolute understatement, between long days and long nights spent tossing and turning with nothing but blonde hair and blue eyes on your mind and in your dreams. If it wasn’t for coffee and melatonin, you weren’t sure how you would’ve survived.
So when the time came to leave early and return home following a long media session before the team took to the road, you were ready to just hide in your sheets not to see the light of day until absolutely necessary.
However, as luck had it, that wasn’t going to happen.
You spotted your kitchen light lit from your window and the idea creeping in the back of your mind sent your heart racing. Surely you had turned it off before you left for the rink that morning but you weren’t sure of anything anymore. Your hand shook as you unlocked your front door, your heart racing in your chest.
You creeped in quietly, not ready for any confrontation but bracing yourself for whatever was to come, stranger be damned. You had gone through enough these past few days that a break in would just be something added to the list.
Suddenly strong arms wrap around you and before you could scream and fight, you feel. You sink into the feeling of familiarity, of being welcomed home. You would know this feeling anywhere in the world. You would always know him.
You couldn’t help the sob that escapes your lips as he holds you there in the foyer of your tiny Boston apartment. Your arms drop everything you’re holding and clutch onto him.
Despite everything that had happened, you needed him.
“Please forgive me,” he begs, his lips pressing to the crown of your head as he holds you to his chest. You bury your face in his hoodie and let the frustrations of the last few days pour out, your glass finally emptied, your bubble burst. “I was so stupid, so selfish to do that to you. I’m so proud of you, baby girl and I let myself make you think otherwise.”
You try to regulate your breathing, just like you had done so much recently but this time, Morgan’s hand rubbing gently circles on the skin at the base of your neck helps immensely and your breaths even out in a matter of seconds.
“I will never forgive myself,” he vows. “I may be upset with myself for not leading the team—but this… this is unforgivable. I wouldn’t blame you if you never wanted to see me again.”
You breathe in and out. “There will never be a day that passes that I don’t want to see you, that I don’t want you by side,” you answer truthfully. “These past few days have been hell for me and for you. I just want you to hold me… please.”
“I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do.” He pulls back and takes the purse that was half hanging off your shoulder and your bag that was in the floor and moved it aside before pulling you back into his side and leading you into your apartment.
“Go get changed, baby girl,” he suggests, gently. “I’ll be right here.” And you do, washing your face of the makeup and impurities of the day, shrugging into the pair of joggers and Morgan’s comfy crew neck that he left out for you.
When you pad back to your living room, Morgan was just setting down a cup of tea on your coffee table. He looks to you and for the first time you take him in, tired and drained, the bag under his eyes bruised with exhaustion.
He takes a seat and holds his arms open to you and you oblige, straddling him and your arms encircling him as your head falls on his shoulder. He drapes a blanket over you both and holds you to his chest. You press your nose into his neck and let yourself give in and for the first time in almost a week, completely unwind.
“I love you,” he whispers against your forehead.
“I love you, too, Morgan,” you murmur, pressing a kiss to his neck.
Morgan’s hand finds the back of your neck and gently guides you back and you sit up in his lap. His fingers gently trace your features as you watch him lovingly. His thumb follow the curve of your lips and when they reach the dark circles under your eyes, he frowns deeply.
“I caused that,” he says so softly yet harshly that you’re not so sure you hear it. “I’m so fucking stupid.”
Your hand grasps his in yours and you bring it down and kiss his palm.
“You had so much on your shoulders that it finally caved in on you. You can’t do this on your own, Mo and I wish that I could’ve been there for you. I’m so proud of you and everything you are. That loss does not define you, it doesn’t define that team. I’m proud of you. You are the heart and soul of that team.” You trace along his palm and when you look back to him, his eyes are burning into yours, suddenly a deep ocean rather than a clear sky.
His hands gently grasp your face in his and pull you to him, his lips molding around yours for the first time in weeks, his sweet taste in your tongue and all around you.
He pulls back suddenly. “And for the record, I am so proud of you. I am happy for you… Even though you look better in Leafs blue,” he teases, grin lopsided. And that’s your boy. He’s back and with you and all around you.
You can’t help but press your lips to his again but pull back much to his displeasure.
“So you do want me back with you in Vancouver?” you ask, teasing him, making him wait.
He smiles at you brightly. “Who needs to wait for Vancouver when I’ll be here cheering you on here in Boston.”
He pulls you back to him, your head resting on his shoulder, his arms rubbing up the skin of your back, comfortingly.
He presses a kiss to your shoulder and you know, that come the morning, everything will be more than okay.

TRUNK RESURRECTION; PART 2
Tumblr media
In part 1 of the Trunk Resurrection post I discussed how TPTB are careful to take any oppertunity to make creative choises that points to TRUNKS is any shape, form or fashion. Car trunks and tree trunks. Human torsos or elephant trunks, it doesnt matter. If it’s a trunk, it can be used by TPTB to say something about TRUNK symbolism.
In Part 2 I’m going to try to explain why this is so important for TD.
ETA: here’s a link to Part 1:
https://frangipanilove.tumblr.com/post/611940721067474944/trunk-resurrection-part-one
I’ve already mentioned that many of us, myself included, believe that after “Coda”, a situation somehow arose,  where TF had to leave Beth behind. It wasn’t by choise, we imagine that it was a matter of survival. The general consensus is that they were surprised by a massive horde, and couldn’t get away fast enough. They had to leave Beth in order to survive themselves, and they put her in the trunk of a car to protect her from getting eaten by the walker horde.
Tumblr media
Like I mentioned in part 1, when Beth and Daryl hid from the horde in the trunk of a car in 4x12 “Still”, it was a forshadow of how she’d later be hid in the trunk of a car to avoid getting eaten. And similarly; when we watched the sequence of the abandoned cars from 5x10 “Them”, it served as a callback to events that happened off camera in those missing 17 days.
In “Them”, we watched Maggie find a car with a locked trunk. She located the keys and got it opened, and inside she of course found a beautiful, tragic figure. TPTB at one point confirmed that the Trunk Walker was supposed to represent Beth, and it’s one of the most haunting scenes of the entire series in my opinion.
Tumblr media
And as I explained in Part 1 of this post, there is no shortage of exemples where TPTB use every trick in the book to bring attention to a trunk in some shape or form.
In Part 2 I’m going to analyse the symbolism around about seven specific instances where CARS and TRUNKS were front and center, both in a symbolical sense as well as in a literal sense.
And I’ll start with Officer Licari’s Dodge Magnum.
TRUNK RESURRECTION 1: OFFICER LICARI’S DODGE MAGNUM: THE ORIGINAL BLUE TRUNK

Tumblr media
The reason I call this a Blue Trunk doesn’t have much to do with the actual color of the car, even though it’s dark blue or maybe back. When I say BLUE TRUNK, it has to do with the fact that it’s a car that belonged to the Grady cops, specifically it belonged to Officer Licari. Therefore, it’s a “Blue Trunk”.
The Blue Clues ultimately points to some sort of police reference. Because Beth at one point wore the Sheriff's hat and was named «The New Sheriff In Town», she’s a part of the Blue Clues. In fact, you could probably say she’s in the center of it.
But there are also other police officers worth taking notice of, and like I said,  Grady cop Licari is one of them. I’m going to explain why shortly, but first let’s revisit a scene from 5x15 «Try». Daryl and Aaron try to catch Buttons The Horse, but they fail miserably. Buttons falls prey to a walker horde, and gets eaten in the most gruesome way. Daryl and Aaron can only watch in horror.
However, as they were trying to save Buttons, TPTB served us up a few very suspicious scenes, such as the one where Aaron trips over a ram (!) that’s laying on top of a walker. If that doesn't seem super random to you, then I don't know what will. And it gets crazier. The walker manages to grab a hold of Aarons foot, almost managing to bite it, but fortunately, Daryl comes to the rescue. And Aaron gets free.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Now, a few things about this scene. I will get to the foot/boot part of it later. It’s obviously something we’ve seen time after time, season after season, and I believe I have a pretty decent interpretation of the foot/boot symbolism. But first things first.
That ram struck me as possibly the pinnacle of randomness! Even for a show that likes to put random details into random places, the ram from 5x15 was just too wild to not be significant. You just KNOW it hides massive clues.
And it did.
If you remember back to 5x7 «Crossed», we saw a close-up of the back of Licari’s Dodge Magnum as Rick chased after Officer Bob.
Tumblr media
And there it was! The logo of the Dodge car brand is a ram! Their signature model is even called Dodge Ram!
Tumblr media
The logo specifically sits on the back of the car, on the trunk, you could procably say, even if its not called that of this particular car. The whole sequence with the walker trapped under a ram that grabs Aaron’s foot, specifically points to the back of Officer Licari’s car.
That’s not the only suspicious thing about that car, @twdmusicboxmystery has written several posts about the cars at Grady, their licence plates and other weird coincidences.
https://twdmusicboxmystery.tumblr.com/post/127651055999/getkath-twdmusicboxmystery-the-foreshadowing
https://twdmusicboxmystery.tumblr.com/post/142791336629/the-aftermath-of-grady-and-evidence-for-it
Also, in 5x7 «Crossed, Sasha and Tyreese actually discussed Sasha’s sorrow over losing Bob right in front of the trunk/back of Licari’s Dodge Magnum. In fact, it is not entirely unrealistic to speculate that if Beth was left in the trunk of a car, it could actually be that she was left in this specific car, Officer Licari’s Dodge Magnum.
TRUNK RESURRECTION 2: THE JEEP CHEROKEE FROM 6X6 «ALWAYS ACCOUNTABLE»
In 10A, we watched a scene where Carol and Daryl were throwing acorns on a can. Carol found a «double-capper», and gave it to Daryl for luck. And look, I’m trying to stay out of ship wars. I’m a Bethyler and a Carol fan simultaneously, and while I’m aware that these acorn scenes have become significant for C@rylers, I respectfully want to offer my interpretation of it. It involves Beth (no surprise there). It also ties into the tree/three/trunk symbolism. I’ll explain how below.
Remember back to s2. Sophia was missing, and Daryl refused to give up on finding her alive. He took Andrea out to search for her in the woods, and while they were walking, he shared a story from his childhood. As a child, he lived under tremendous parental neglect. His father was gone, partying with some waitress, and Merle was doing another stint in juvie.
Daryl somehow got lost in the woods, and was gone for nine days before he found his way back. And he was fine, so in Daryl’s mind there was no reason Sophia couldn't also be fine. The only injury he sustained during those nine days was a rash due to wiping his ass with Poison Oak.
The interesting thing with this scene is that it’s the first time we get an «oak» reference. We get it in combination with a «missing/lost/gone girl reference, and interestingly we also get it in combination with an «ass» reference (Toilet Paper Theory, but that’s a post for a different day). What we actually can take from this, is that the acorn as a symbol is synonymous with the Cherokee Rose from season 2.
Tumblr media
Remember the legend of the Trail Of Tears. The Cherokee Rose grew where the tears of the mothers had fallen, to provide «faith and hope» to people who had lost their loved ones. Daryl gave Carol a Cherokee Rose, sitting in a beer bottle, to offer her “hope and faith” that they’d find Sophia. Let’s break down the different parts of the symbolism here. The Cherokee Rose. The beer bottle. The Poison Oak. The acorn.
Acorns grow on Oak trees, so obviously they are synonymous. The beer bottle represents the beer/bear symbolism, which points to Beth through the Ursa Major/Ursa Menor symbolism (or the Big and Little Dipper if you will). I’ve talked a lot about that in several other posts.
In 6x6 «Always Accountable», we saw a Cherokee Rose growing on the back of a mossy walker. Daryl was able to kill it, and perhaps the sight of the Cherokee Rose inspired him to do the right thing by returning the insulin to Tina, Dwight and Sherry.
Tumblr media
And it was an amazing thing to see another Cherokee Rose so long after the first one, and here's how we can tell that it is about Beth; it’s about hope and faith in that one day you’ll once again see your missing loved ones that you’ve lost along the way.
Both Sophia and Beth are part of «the missing girl» theme. We know what ultimately happened to Sophia, but we never saw what ultimately happened to Beth. The Cherokee Rose from 6x6 «AA» is as much a beacon of hope to us, the audience, as it is to Daryl.
But what most people don’t realize, is that there was a second Cherokee reference in that episode. Not a Cherokee Rose, but a Jeep Cherokee! And it ties right into the Trunk Theory. At one point we see Sasha and Abraham crouching besides a car, having a discussion on Daryl’s whereabouts. Their choice of words are important in order to properly understand this scene, pay close attention! Abraham says he believes that Daryl has abandoned them, because that’s what he did earlier in the episode. Sasha argues that he came BACK. He RETURNED!
It’s important that they’re having this particular conversation in itself, but the real significance is WHERE they’re having it: Besides the Jeep Cherokee!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Cherokee Rose symbol was always there to give hope and faith to people who had lost loved ones. It’s not some token of love between Daryl And Carol. It’s something that represents hope and faith after having lost people. And in this particular case, the «hope» presents itself as «the trunk of a car»! It ties right into Team Delusional’s theories of Beth somehow surviving in relation to the trunk of a car. It represents “resurrection”!
So the initial Cherokee Rose in a beer bottle from s2 was always about Sophia and the missing/lost/gone girl symbolism, the Cherokee Rose on the walker’s back from 6x6 «AA» was about Beth, and we know that because of the convo Abe and Sasha has having while sitting next to it. They talk about getting left behind, about Daryl coming back, RETURNING, and finally, we see how Abe asks how they are gonna find Daryl. Sasha replies that they're not! They're gonna let Daryl find them. Then she plants her BOOT in the mud, the camera lingers on it for a moment. Then she says «Daryl is a tracker», they’re gonna let him track them down. And we see her boot print in the mud. I’ll talk more about that boot print later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we do know that the Trunk Survival theme applies specifically to Beth, because we did see her hide in a trunk with Daryl in «Still». We also saw a Beth-walker in the trunk of a car in 5x10 “Them», that was confirmed by TPTB to represent Beth. The “trunk theme” is inextricably linked to Beth. And here we also see it along with a Cherokee Rose and a Jeep Cherokee. And Sasha’s boot!
As far as the Cherokee Rose as a symbol is concerned, remember that Daryl placed a Cherokee Rose on Carol’s (EMPTY) grave back in season 3. Daryl believed that Carol was dead, lost somewhere in the tombs of the prison.
Tumblr media
From a symbolism standpoint, the important thing is that the Cherokee Rose delivered on its symbolical promise. Its purpose is to provide faith and hope for people who has lost loved ones. In the case of Carol from s3, she was eventually found alive. And that’s why the Cherokee Rose is an important symbol for TD. Thats why it’s interesting that there was a Cherokee Rose in 6x6 “AA”, and that a Jeep Cherokee was involved in a scene where Abe and Sasha were talking about “being left behind”. And ultimatly, when Sasha placed her bootprint in the mud next to the car, it was a direct reference to the trunk/baggage compartment of the car! I will explain the boot/trunk connection shortly, but keep it in mind until then!
And the acorns? They represent Daryls convo with Andrea from s2, when they were out searching for a missing/lost/gone girl. Daryl’s Poison Oak story is evidence  that surviving being «lost»  truly is possible! When Carol gives Daryl the «double-capper acorn» in «Bonds», they’ve just had a conversation about Connie. And Now Connie (and Magna) is the Missing Girl, but most likely she’ll be OK. No way to tell for sure, because the symbolism is about being lost/missing/gone. Daryl was lost as a child and he turned out fine. Sophia resurfaced as a walker, but she resurfaced. Carol was found alive when she went missing in the tombs. Henry became a beheaded walker, but at least he wasn’t lost, never to be seen again. We don’t know yet what will happen to Connie, and Beth is still missing. But the acorns are synonymous with the Cherokee Rose, and represents «Hope and Faith.
Tumblr media
TRUNK RESURRECTION 3: SILVER WING/MERLE HAGGARD In 5x4 «Slabtown» we heard Dr. Edwards say that he’d found a patient under a bridge along with a Merle Haggard tape and two packets of Bisquick. Then, in 6x10 «The Next World» we see two posters of a fictional brand of cigarettes; «Silver Wings».
Tumblr media
«Silver Wings» is a well known Merle Haggard song, and therefore it’s natural to think of the two posters as Merle Haggard references, and that they tie into the MH reference from «Slabtown».
(Also, there was another Merle Haggard song, «Mama Tried»  being played in FTWD 4x2 «Another Day At The Diamond», and I’ll do a separate post on that one day. Hopefully.)
6x10 starts off with Daryl and Rick leaving ASZ to go on a scavenging mission, hoping to score some food, (and toothpaste, on Michonne’s request). They find a food truck in a Sorghum barn, but they also find a Jesus. Not Christ, but Paul Rovia. But for symbolism purposes, that works wonderfully.
As they leave ASZ, TPTB give us an excellent shot of the back of the car they’re driving. It’s definitely a Chrysler. We see the back of the car a few times, we also see how they stop and reverse the car, driving back into our view. An interesting creative choice by TPTB, where everything is about the back of the Chrysler. Or the trunk...
Why am I going on about the back of this particular Chrysler? Because the logo of the Chrysler brand cars are affectionately called «Silver Wings»...
Tumblr media
And the logos are typically located on the back of the car, such as in this shot from 6x10:
Tumblr media
We see the silver wings on the trunk of the car.
Also worth mentioning is that due to unforeseen events involving meeting Jesus, Jesus strealing their food truck, and other complications, the Chrysler got left behind. They planned to go back for it later, but it’s certainly interesting what type of car they eventually chose to ride back to ASZ in, with an unconscious Jesus in the back seat. According to the page walkingdead.fandom.com they chose to return to ASZ in a Jeep Cherokee..
Tumblr media
A Jeep Cherokee....with Jesus in the backseat...
Oh, and in Part 1 I explained how the symbol “tree” in certain ways refers to the Cross of Christ, and therefore ultimately means “resurrection”. The symbol “tree” is of course also synonymous with the symbol “trunk”, both in the sense of “tree trunk” and in the sense of “car trunk”. We see an interesting illustration of that in 6x10, when Daryl says he rather would’ve left Jesus (Paul Rovia, not Christ) up in a tree, than bringing him home to ASZ. That is literally TPTB confirming the tree = cross connection. “Jesus up in a tree” is a TWD translation for “Cross of Christ”. And by confirming the tree = cross connection, they are at the same time confirming the trunk = resurrection part of the equation. And now is a good time to remind y’all of how Beth is a Christ figure!
Tumblr media
TRUNK RESURRECTION 4: RICHONNE’S ROMANTIC ROADTRIP IN 7X12 «SAY YES»
In 7x12 «Say Yes», Rick and Michonne are out scavenging for guns. They come across an overrun carnival, and it is here they have the peculiar «Something serious happened here, these are serious rounds, there might be serious guns here» convo.
In an attempt to get guns off of zombified soldiers, they decide to use a car. And here is where symbolism galore ensues. First, Rick tries to remove a soldier-walker that’s jammed through the windshield. Grabbing his foot, his whole boot with foot comes off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later, when they try to push the car to where they’d ideally want it, Michonne must suddenly seek shelter from a walker accidentally shooting around him at random. She dives into the trunk of the car for protection, and as such survives the random bullets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not the first to point out this sequence. It was always obvious to TD that this was symbolical, and TD has always interpreted it as a representation of how things went down post-Coda. They eventually get out through the sunroof. I don’t have much to add to it, except one thing: the meaning of all the weird foot/boot references we’ve had over the years. Hang on, I’ll get to that in a minute...
TRUNK RESURRECTION 5: THE GREEN JAGUAR FROM 8X11
In my «Morningstar» post, I elaborated on episode 10x11 a little, and how tremendously important I expect it to be for symbolism reasons.
https://frangipanilove.tumblr.com/post/190946439370/episode-10x11-morningstar-sirius-the-star-that
(At the time of posting this, I haven’t actually watched it yet, as TWD airs Monday nights here, and it’s still only early afternoon.)
One of the reasons I expect it to be huge on Sirius symbolism, is that Noah’s t-shirt, with the “one one” text, kind of pointed towards it. And while it primarily pointed towards 8x2 and the Blue Heron painting, there was a huge symbolical takeaway from 8x11 as well. I didn’t know the full magnitude of the symbolism back then, but it’s becoming increasingly clear what an important episode 8x11 was.
It has perhaps gone somewhat under the radar, the symbolism in it is the kind that is slowly starting to shine as the seasons progress and we’re given a larger part of the picture.
We remember how Dr. Carson and FG escaped from the Sanctuary, and FG was in a less than stellar condition. He suffered from some kind of infection, and Dr. Carson was seriously concerned that he’d maybe end up loosing his eyesight. They find this dilapidated cabin in the woods, and go in searching for antibiotics.
Which they find, so FG only loses one eye, and this is how he becomes a Sirius figure.
Episode 8x11 turned out to be a virtual treasure trove of symbolism. The radio equipment (a Sirius reference due to the connotation to Sirius Satellite Radio), the «Sirius piggy-bank» parallel to the Sirius piggyback from «Alone». I talked about these things in in my recent post.
But there’s more.
In the opening minutes of the episode, we watch a walker, stuck in an animal trap, clawing his way towards the broken down car in which FG and Dr. Carson are sitting.
This episode is symbolism galore from the get-go. Guess what kind of car they’re driving?
Tumblr media
A green Jaguar. And during the opening minutes we view the car from the walker’s point of view, and what we see, is the trunk!
Jaguars are cats, remember, and cats have nine lives. That’s the symbolic takeaway. The trunk represents survival through the nine lives symbolism. The trunk represents the way many of us believes Beth most likely survived. She was put in a trunk, which protected her from the approaching walker horde. When they went back to get her, she was «just gone». And this episode, 8x11, is filled to the brim with Beth-specific survival symbolism.
There’s the radio equipment, representing Sirius The Dog Star, the star that disappears from the night sky for some time but returns before dawn.
There’s the Sirius piggy-bank.
There’s the ham radio references (a reference to violet the pig, explained in more detail here:
https://frangipanilove.tumblr.com/post/183736635005/sirius-and-the-north-star-or-pigs-feet-and-frosty
There’s a suspicious clock! I’ve discussed it with fellow theorists, and they’ve come up with a few great interpretations. However I do feel like its significant that the hands of the clock points towards the 6 and the 3, which could indicate that it’s a reference to Glenns death fake out episode 6x3.
The clock appears as they find the antibiotics thas FG needs, and Dr. Carson says “This man saved your life!”, referring to the dead man that presumably lived there before. The potential 6x3 reference of the clock and Dr. Carsons statement suggests that the symbolic takeaway is something to do with survival.
And this is all related to Beth because she’s in the center of the Sirius symbolism!
Tumblr media
A 6:30 clock was pivotal in Noah’s t-shirt theory, which ultimately pointed towards 8x2 (when we found the Blue Heron painting), but because of the «one one» text written on Noah’s T-shirt, I was aware that it could potentially also point towards 8x11. You could say there’s a 6x3 reference in both ends of the Noah's t-shirt theory. There’s a  6x3 reference in the episode that introduces the theory, and there’s a 6x3 reference in the episode that fulfills and bookends the theory.
There’s even a couple of «serious/Sirius» mentions. They’re sitting on the trunk of the green Jaguar while Dr. Carson examines FG’s eyesight. Dr. Carson is “Siriusly” worried.
Tumblr media
We've seen Jadis paint a blue cat. Jaguars are cats. Cats have nine lives. We’ve also seen her sculpt a large replica of the Jaguar logo cat. There are plenty of blue clues around Jadis, and Jadis/Anne was the one who ultimately saved Rick. And the symbolism around Rick is symbolism we also see around Beth, so if Rick is alive, so is Beth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that the Jaguar is green just ties even closer to Beth, because her last name is Greene! And Beth is part of the “blue” symbolism because “blue” ultimately refers to police. Beth is part of that because she’s the New Sheriff In Town.
Ultimately, this episode tells us that the Sirius symbolism is still in play because FG becomes a one-eyed Sirius figure. It confirms that “radio” still is a Sirius symbol, there’s a Sirius mention as FG and Dr. Carson are sitting on the trunk of the Jaguar (”Sirius” reference in combination with “nine lives” reference). There are also plenty of references to «Alone», through» the animal trap callbacks. And keep in mind; Beth got her boot caught in an animal trap in «Alone». Dr. Carson got his foot caught in an animal trap in 8x11. Il’l get to the “boot” symbolism shortly, it’s important, so keep it in mind.
TRUNK RESURRECTION 6: THE FORD MUSTANG ON THE HIGHWAY IN S2
When Sophia went missing 2x1,  they prepared some foods and drinks for her on the hood of a Ford Mustang in case she made it back after they’d moved on to the Greene Farm.

Tumblr media
She didn’t come back, but if she had, she would have found everything she needed to survive, along with a sign saying «we’ll come back every day». If she’d made her way back there, she likely would’ve survived. That Ford Mustang represented her way to survival. It was a «missing girl survival-kit». Unfortunately Sophia didn’t survive, but the Ford Mustang represents the first time we see the entanglement between the “horse” symbolism, the “car/trunk” symbolism and the “missing girl” symbolism.
Symbolically, there are a couple of interesting things happening here simultaneously.
It’s a car, and it has a trunk, so there’s that.
The name of the car, «Mustang», refers to a species of wild horses, that are known to be fast, smart and difficult to catch.
Tumblr media

It’s a yellow car. Remember Beth’s yellow polo shirt, that covered her upper body/trunk? A very weird sentence to write, but
I explained in Part 1 that TPTB use anything that has a connotation to the word “trunk”, also the human torso/trunk.
Remember the keychain from 5x10, the one that has a yellow seahorse on it? It’s a reference to Sophias “survival kit-car”,  the yellow Ford Mustang
. It’s a reference to Buttons  The Horse from 5x15 that died horribly. However, there was a ram involved that scene, and symbolically the ram ties Buttons to Sophia’s survival kit-car, via the trunk of Officer Licari’s Dodge Magnum.
Tumblr media
When Buttons The Horse died, symbolically it’s ok because the ram points to the trunk of Licari’s Dodge Magnum, and trunks ultimately symbolize resurrection.
“Horse” symbolism is tied to the “resurrection” symbolism through the “trunk” symbolism. It’s complex because it’s so intertwined, but that is how it works. And speaking of horses; remember this sign?
Tumblr media
Right next to it, Morgan found a horse!
Tumblr media
This all calls back to the yellow Ford Mustang that was equipped to help Sophia survive, and to the yellow seahorse keychain in the shape of a “3″, that eventually unlocked the trunk from 5x10 “Them”. The message for us is one of “survival”, or “resurrection”.
TRUNK RESURRECTION 7: THE JEEP CHEROKEE FROM «CODA» AND “SLABTOWN”.
Because yes! There actually was a Jeep Cherokee in 5x8 «Coda» as well! We didn’t really see it much, it was basically just sitting there in the parking lot outside Grady the whole time. There was that one scene in «Slabtown», when Beth and Noah almost succeeded in escaping. Beth is running full speed towards freedom, then slows to make sure that Noah is following her, and as she slows, we get a glimpse of this black Jeep Cherokee with a white cross on the back window, sitting next to Licari’s Dodge Magnum.
Tumblr media
That Jeep Cherokee was there during «Coda» as well, and whether or not it is the actual car they left her in, it is undoubtedly a reference to the Cherokee Rose in the beer bottle from season 2, the one that symbolized “hope and faith”in the search for Sophia. It was a reference to Carol’s EMPTY grave from season 3, and because we see another Cherokee Rose in 6x6 «AA», along with another Jeep Cherokee, we can assume that the Jeep Cherokee from «Slabtown» and «Coda» are also there to provide faith and hope!
Tumblr media
We can see it in the bottom left corner of this heartbreaking shot that ended the episode.
Tumblr media
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN “BOOTS”, “PIKES” AND “TRUNKS”
In the “Tree Trunk Theory”,  I’ve explained why the words «cross» and «tree» are so intertwined. As I mentioned, it originates from the earliest written versions of the New Testament, and the fact that they were written in Greek. They used mainly two words for “cross”. One was the greek word for “tree” (and by extension “wood”), and another word they used was was «stavros» which literally translates to «pike»! “Wooden pike”.
Isn’t that just fascinating? While we know absolutely nothing about where Henry was buried, we know that the pike where his head was found has become his «grave marker», his “cross”. Not in a literal sense, but that’s what the pike represents to everyone. To us, the audience, and to Carol and the rest of the characters . The pikes are reminders of the gruesome killings of these innocent people.
In 10x5  something interesting took place. We saw that the border pikes had been moved, and Carol was not particularly happy about it. She was not on her best behavior. She was reckless and egotistical, something which almost caused her to step right into a bear trap.
It was a big, powerful trap. I could have taken her foot off, but fotunately Daryl came to her rescue.
Tumblr media
Now, I’ve written plenty on why Bear symbolism is linked to Beth (it’s through the Ursa Major/Menor star constellations, or as you say in North America, the Big and Little Dipper). Also, I’m sure every member of TD remembers vividly how Beth got her ankle caught in a smaller animal trap in 4x13 «Alone». And I'm sure every member of TD took notice of the bear trap in 10x5. We all recognized it as a Beth symbol.
So what did Daryl do, after saving Carol from getting her foot hacked off by the bear trap?
Tumblr media
He set off the trap by putting the pike through it! The wooden pike, the pike that is a symbolism synonym for «cross»! The wooden pike that acts as a grave marker for Beth-Proxy Extraordinarie; Henry.
And here comes the juicy part.
In US English, it’s normal to refer to the rear storage compartment of a car as «the trunk»
However, in other parts of the English speaking world, such as for instance the UK and Australia, the appropriate term for the baggage compartment of a car is actually….
The «BOOT»!
With that in mind, think back to some of the numerous foot/boot/dismembered limb symbolism we’ve seen so consistently over the years on TWD and even FTWD. I’ve mentioned a fair few of the exemples in this two-part post, but there are of course too many to recount.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Think of Beth getting her BOOT caught in the animal trap in 4x13 «Alone». Think about Rick pulling off the foot (with the BOOT) of the soldier in 7x12, and Michonne jumping into the trunk to escape the walkers. Think of Jadis stripping Rick naked save for his boxers/trunks, and then stealing his BOOTS. Then think of Daryl, setting off the bear trap around the pike that represents the Cross of Christ, that represents death and resurrection. Think back to «Crossed», when FG escaped his church and got his BOOT pierced by a nail! He was symbolically crucified in that scene. It was a stigmata reference! On the wall behind him there was written «You'll burn for this», which in terms of plot referred to how he saved himself at the expense of his parish. But on a symbolical level, that marked FG as a future Sirius figure (burn/fire is a Sirius symbol because Sirius means «scorching/glowing»). And sure enough, in 8x11, an episode that was foreshadowed by Noah's t-shirt, FG lost his eyesight on one eye, making him a Sirius figure like the one-eyed dog from «Alone» and the «dog with a star in one eye» from Robert Frost’s poems.
Take a look at the “boot” symbolism we’ve seen over the years with fresh eyes, imagine what a scene means if the feet/shoes/boots we see are references to the trunk that Beth was placed in, the trunk that means “resurrection”, the trunk that is synonomous with “tree trunk” and therefore “cross”, as in “The Cross Of Christ”.
Need more evidence? Here we have a scene from “Consumed”, where Carol has an unfortunate encounter with a 1995 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon. It’s a car that has wooden panels on the sides, and they’re popularily called “Woody Wagons”. After she has been run over by the Grady cops, they place her on a gurney and puts her....in the back of the car! The wood reference of a Woody Wagon represents the wood/tree/cross and therefore “resurrection”. The back of the car, where Carol was placed, of course represents “the trunk”. This whole scene represents how even a dramatic accident like Carol’s can end with “resurrection”, if the proper symbolism is applied.
Tumblr media
And finally there’s this:
Tumblr media
This is of course Morgan, from 5x1 “No Sanctuary”. I’m sure it’s obvious where I’m going with this. It’s a tree. With an X (a cross). We actually see...guess how many...yes, three (3) tree crosses.
We also see Morgan in 5x8 “Coda”, literally seconds after we’ve watched Beth “die”. And we also see the same X (cross) on the threes in “Coda”.
It is resurrection symbolism on top of resurrection symbolism.

Park in front of a bus stop illegally? Okay, I'll get your car impounded.
Cast:
Me: Local jiffy lube
RL: Rude lady
OF: Officer
TD: Tow truck driver
A little backstory: I moved to a new city almost a year ago and started to take the bus to and from school. This all started in October but I stopped dealing with her shit in January.
Anyways. So I was waiting outside school one day and this lady came and parked right in front of the bus stop. I knocked on her window and she rolled it down, the following conversation ensues.
Me: Hi, do you mind moving your car? It's a bus stop.
RL: scoffs and rolls up window
Now I have a short temper sometimes, and this is one of those times.
couple minutes later Me, slightly annoyed: Please move your car.
RL: sighs Where else is there to park?
(Many other spaces open)
Me, more annoyed: Literally anywhere else. Get your eyes checked. I pointed to other spots
RL: Ugh! fuck you! drives to another spot
Now this is happening every day up until January when I loose my shit. But during this time, I do some research and find out parking in front of the bus stop is illegal. Oh boy am I ever happy for some sweet sweet revenge.
So I start taking some photos proving that she is parking illegally, write down her plate number and the address of where this is happening. Once I had enough evidence, I emailed the city bylaws department and they confirmed that parking there was in fact, illegal. I also attached my phone number so they could call anytime. And they did. They asked me to call them when I saw her again so they could send a tow truck and an officer.
Monday. The day. She parks in the bus stop. I have a grin on my face.
Me knocking on window: Move your car. If you dont, I will call the boys in blue and get your car impounded.
RL: Pft. No you wont. You dumb teenager. No respect.
Me: Just fucking move.
RL: No. Wait and see where you park when you start driving.
Me: Not in front of a bus stop like a crackhead.
RL: HOW DARE YOU! I WILL TELL THE PRINCIPAL!
Me: Try me.
RL: huffs and turns off car IM DOING IT NOW!
She runs inside and I call the the bylaws department. they say that they will be there soon.
About five minutes later and officer and a truck shows up. The officer gets out and asks:
This her car?
Me: Sure is.
OF: Alrighty signals for tow truck driver
TD begins to prepare the truck and attach the car while the officer writes a ticket.
RL comes storming out
RL: WHAT IN THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!
OF: You parked here illegally and your car is being impounded.
RL: THERES NOWHERE ELSE TO PARK!
OF: Doesn't matter. Law is law.
The RL starts yelling at the OF for a few minutes, in the meantime the TD has hooked her car up to the truck and writes a bill.
when RL has seemed to calm down, the officer handed her a ticket for a parking violation, the TD gave her the towing bill as well.
RLs jaw dropped to earth's core.
OF: The fee is 50 dollars per day for your car being stowed in the lot.
RL now fuming: YOU CANT DO THIS!
OF: Neither can you park in a bus stop.
RL turning to me: YOU LITTLE SHIT! YOU DID THIS
The bus turns around the corner and stops to let me on.
Me: Thanks OF and TD. I grinned and gave RL the bird as I got on.
It's now April and I haven't seen her since.
first post on here, sorry for quality.

Remaining Orders Announcement
Hi! My name is Cari, or @Storyofthedoor online, and I will try to explain what is taking so long with the shipping! :D Sorry this announcement is really long, it is quite detailed, I tried to thoroughly explain what has happened with the remaining 60ish orders.
TL;DR version: 60 orders to go! Struggling with getting money transferred from one mod to the other. Still trying though!
Long version:
First I want to apologize that it is taking so long to finish the last orders. When I joined this project, I really wanted to make sure the shipping was fast! I’ve been a part of, and purchased, a lot of zines that take months and months and months …. To the point that I’ve wondered if the zine is actually coming or….? So I didn’t want that to happen to Bonds Across Time. I’m sorry that for some orders, they have had to wait a long long time.
So I’m gonna start at the beginning, and then try to explain the difficulty.
In the beginning there were two mods! They were Nayuun and (x). They worked on Bonds Across Time together throughout the making of the zine. Nayuun organized artists, and (x) organized writers, and the zine came together to the point of being a book ready for preorders. At this time, I was just an artist. My total involvement was to make an art, and occasionally talk to Nayuun. I didn’t attend to anything other than that.
And then the paypal problems started.
Some of you who have been wanting a book since the beginning of January remember the paypal account being frozen with funds in it just a little bit into preorders. There was never a way to get the funds out of paypal. Nayuun tried to talk to paypal several times, and if you’ve ever had a problem with paypal, you can imagine how that went. Their customer service does not particularly deserve applause. At all. There was no resolution, all the preorders were returned to the buyers. Around this time, (x) needed to leave the project. Their work is still in the zine, but they had no other involvement after the initial paypal problems.
This left Nayuun by herself, and this is her first zine. It is most definitely difficult to run a zine, especially as a single mod, and especially if you’ve never done it before.
So I, Story, joined the mod team! C: My duties are getting stuff printed, and shipping out US and further abroad orders. Nayuun will handle Canadian shipping.
I’ve run a few projects, including kickstarters and a tarot deck zine, so I feel comfortable working with printers and doing shipping.
With this new layout of mod tasks, Nayuun and I opened preorders again! This time with payments being directed to Stripe, through the Storenvy shop.
Now begins the second round of financial problems. Remember: Nayuun has not run a zine before, so couldn’t see this coming. I *have* run zines before, but I and my fellow mods have been completely US based while running them. Nayuun and (x) are both Canadian.
Preorders go great through Storenvy with Stripe receiving payment! Honestly thank you for that. C: We are both really grateful that the preorders went well.
Storenvy is set up to receive payment in USD and dish it out to Stripe in CAD. (Because both prior organizers are Canadian this set up makes sense. This right here is where the problem happened. If hindsight was helpful at all, I would use hindsight to make Stripe receive funds in USD.)
No problems so far.
Because I, Story, am handling the printing and most of the shipping, we determine it’d be easiest if I received the payout from Stripe.
Stripe is holding the money as CAD.
My bank accounts are all in USD.
This isn’t really that big of a problem ….? Americans and Canadians transfer money to each other and conduct trade all the time…..?
We deposit the money into Nayuun’s bank, Stripe won’t let anything else happen.
There are plenty of ways to transfer money internationally. Paypal comes to mind, but we’ve just had huge problems with paypal freezing funds. Also they take a percentage instead of a flat fee. So two other methods are more common with large amounts of money. Wire transfers, and money orders. I’ve done both wire transfers and money orders, but only to US and China receivers. I’ve never tried to receive a wire transfer or money order from Canada.
I think a wire transfer is faster than a money order. It only takes a few days. So I tell Nayuun to try it.  I provide bank info for me.
For this first wire transfer attempt, I use my local credit union. I go in person and speak to them, they say a wire transfer from Canada is fine? It just needs to land as USD. Sounds fine.
A few days later, Nayuun’s bank receives the money back and claims they can’t send money to my credit union. To be fair, that credit union I use is small, who knows if they even know what they’re doing.
So I use a larger online bank for a second attempt at a wire transfer.
I guess which banks we’re using is not terribly important private information. This is a wire transfer from TD Bank in Canada, to Discover Bank in the US. These are two giant, common banks. They both know how to do wire transfers. I mean they probably both do wire transfers, to each other, dozens of times a day, independent of Nayuun and myself. Is there something I’m missing or not understanding?
We wait for the transfer to work. Nothing. TD Bank says it will take 4 - 5 business days.
I call Discover Bank. They say it will take 14 business days. They also say they cannot look up the wire transfer without a firm USD amount. When we initiated the wire transfer, it was for this large sum of CAD, and I assume a fixed USD amount was not given because it would be based on the exchange rate the day the transfer occurs……………? Discover Bank will not look up the transfer with the firm CAD amount. Who knows why. No amount of asking or calling will change their refusal. If I were to try a wire transfer a third time, I think we should initiate it as a firm USD amount, and whatever CAD is required is what goes. Not exactly convenient there but possibly more traceable by Discover.
TD Bank now claims the wire transfer may take up to 20 business days.
We wait ….
We waited a week for the first wire transfer to fail.
Now we wait four weeks.
The second wire transfer fails.
No explanation is given. None. At. All.
I know it’s hard for you, the preorderers, to count out the time here and understand why things are taking so long.
We closed preorders mid Feb or something like that?
And then had to wait about two weeks for Stripe to release all the funds to Nayuun’s bank.
And then we work on the zine and put it all together and get the printing going. Maybe a week or two for print prep and initiate the printing. I think I paid for printing beginning of March on all the merch and books.
A week to try a wire transfer.
Four weeks to try ANOTHER wire transfer ….
And we arrive now at mid April.
This …. Might? Maybe? Lead you to ask how any merch has been printed at all? Or how any zines have been shipped at present? If the funds have been tied up in multiple failed wire transfer attempts?
I, Story, have been paying for the printing and the shipping so far, just on my credit card. I don’t mind getting it all going. I do really care about the project. C: I love zines, and I love self publishing. I really want people to feel happy preordering an artist produced book, too! The helpfulness of a credit card is it does allow me to get a project going! While I wait for Stripe to make funds available … while I wait for a wire transfer … and a second wire transfer … but of course a credit card payment does come due. I paid for all these things at the beginning of March. That billing cycle closes end of March. That bill becomes due end of April, and I must pay the card bill or pay an additional interest penalty. That is how the credit cards do the do.
So! Here in a week or two I am indeed paying this card bill, for a few thousand dollars of printing and shipping. ^^; I have a bit of money saved, it will be ok.
But I’ve got about 40 orders left to ship, and about 20 orders that are Canadian and need to go to Nayuun for her to ship. And I have no more money to get stuff going until one of these methods of fund transfers works out.
It is pretty tiresome and frustrating that the funds exist, they just can’t be moved from Canada to the United States? None of our banks will tell us why.
Now we are trying a money order. When I last shipped a proof copy of the book to Nayuun, it took about 9 days? She lives in Alberta, I live in Maryland. Maybe in 9 days I’ll have a money order in my mailbox? *But can I just point out here that we have experienced first hand that MAIL DOES INDEED MOVE BETWEEN US …. Ok money order, you have no excuses.*
I’m sure you can imagine, I feel pretty dumb now. I’ve spent a lot of money, and am struggling to be reimbursed, and it is no one’s fault. Not Nayuun’s, not mine, just cosmic bad luck maybe. All we can do is keep trying to find a way to deal with a funds transfer? If not a money order through the post office … then…. Western Union? Or we try paypal again (my hopes are not high.)
I’m sorry again that I’ve got all this stuff printed and I’m unable to get the remaining orders going until we can manage this funds transfer. ;_; I really hope a money order would finally work. That would be really great if this kind of old fashioned method could just go through and be fine. ^^;
Thank you to those who have received your orders so far and loved them! You’ve made all the effort worth while, and I really appreciate it. C: I hope that when the remaining orders go out, they will be worth the wait.

hii, first of all I wanted to say that I just love your blog and that you seem lovely! sorry if this has been asked before, but i was wondering: do you think it’s possibile that if tfp it’s johns dream while he’s dying it could actually be after his suicide attempt and not after “”euros”” shot him? (also sorry if there’s any mistake, I’m not a native speaker)
Hi Nonny!
Oh absolutely! I believe I’ve brought it up before as a side thought, that John shot himself in the head, as an alternative to me trying to figure out how Mary would have survived (or maybe I wrote it offline somewhere, because I cannot find the post I did it on), but my fave theory is still John was shot in the head by Mary while he was under the influence of TD-12 which caused him to hallucinate. Here’s a couple posts with related topics that you may find of interest:
TFP is John’s TAB Masterpost
John Loses an Eye
Bond Night
Wouldn’t a Reveal of this be Worse in S5?
Suicidal John Meta Masterpost
I hope those help you out a bit more to my and others’ thoughts!
That said, it always makes me sad that John himself tried to kill himself in this theory, though it is something that has been foreshadowed since the opening scenes of ASiP with John looking briefly at his own Sig. TLD is full of reasons for John to feel suicidal, and given we’re shown he’s drinking again, it’s not unlikely that, after all the guilt he feels (in my Tinhat Theory: for killing Mary, for hurting Sherlock, for realizing he’s not going to be a / the father, being manipulated by Smith, and suffering PTSD again), he would shoot himself. The thing with this theory I see err with, though, is why did he shoot himself in a different place / home / building / office? It’s something I’d like to look into deeper, but I think I’m set more on Mary = Eurus and she shot John in the head as revenge.

9x16: TD Clues - Just Try to Ignore These; I Dare Ya!
Okay guys, I said this would be a details post, but I think I’m gonna have to push that by one more day. I have SO much to say and so much to post, but I don’t want to bombard you with it all at once. So I sat down to write this and just started with the broader parallels I saw and this is already too long. So again, this today, details tomorrow.
***As always, spoilers abound for 9x16 below. Don’t read until you’ve watched!***
Tumblr media
I’m going to talk about what I mentioned last night: The Alone parallel which involved Negan and Judith, the suicide parallel going on with Lydia, and Daryl staring at the paintings in Maggie’s office at Hilltop, since I can tell from comments and messages that that’s definitely on everyone’s mind. (Don’t worry; it’s on mine too. 😉)
Before we begin, let me reiterate something I’ve said many times, and will continue to say whenever we watch a season premiere, a season finale, or the beginning of a new arc. Structurally, first episodes are used to set up what will happen in the coming arc and/or the coming season. Season finales are used to foreshadow and kick us into the next season. We have ample proof of them doing this in the past on TWD, and especially as the big, dramatic reveal of the heads on pikes was last episode, you know this episode had to be all about foreshadowing what is to come. Keep that in mind as you read.
Alone Parallel:
So when we saw the members of TF at Alexandria struggling to get through the snow from where they had been staying (and the fireplace blew up) to Aaron’s house, that’s when Judith ran off. My first thought was that hearing the dog bark that way, out of sight and in the distance somewhere, sounded a LOT like the dog barking outside the funeral home. Of course, that led to Daryl letting the walkers in and Beth disappearing. In this case, Judith disappeared (chasing Dog) and Negan ran after her. Much like Beth ran after Daryl.
Not to mention, at the beginning of the episode, Dog was missing. Kinda like the dog star goes missing but eventually returns?
Tumblr media
I didn’t know where it would go, exactly, but made the observation about the dog barking to my group and said I wondered if this would turn into an Alone parallel. Low and behold, it did. We saw several specific Alone callbacks in this sequence. Negan hurt his leg, as Beth did. Different kind of injury, but still. There was the dog, of course. And then, because Judith was feeling weak because of the cold, Negan carried her, bridal style, through the snow.
Tumblr media
(Disclaimer for the haters: I’m not saying Negan is in love with Judith, nor am I saying Daryl and Beth’s relationship was the same as Judith and Negan’s. I think there is genuine affection in both cases, but of two different kinds. I’m merely pointing out the actual, physical parallels. Yes followers, if you can’t tell, I’ve been dealing with a lot of hate this week. But moving on…)
So we saw Dog lure Judith away (inadvertently; Dog is not criminal mastermind or anti-TF spy or anything ;D) and Negan chase after her, calling her name, just as Daryl did with Beth in Alone. The major difference here is that Negan quickly finds Judith and brings her home.
Tumblr media
This is super-interesting for a couple of reasons. In terms of Judith and Negan, I think it does two things:
1)      It probably foreshadows something for next season. Remember, this is the finale and the finale does that. I don’t’ know what it will be, but Negan will probably save Judith from something bigger—maybe the Whisperers?—next season as well.
2)      It solidifies Judith and Negan’s relationship. Negan didn’t hesitate to run after Judith and save her, just as if she were his own daughter. As I said above, there’s real affection there and it will probably move him toward being a more productive member of the community. Actually, it already has. Obviously it’s endeared him to Michonne at least enough for her to start considering him an ally rather than an enemy. And that, my friends, heads in a straight line toward Carl’s vision of the future from S8.
Tumblr media
But what about TD? Since this is an obvious callback to Alone, I do think we should consider it a Beth thing as well. I think it foreshadows that the thing it’s being paralleled with (Beth’s disappearance from the funeral home and Daryl searching for her) will happen next season as well. What I mean is, just as Negan brought Judith home, Daryl will finally be able to bring Beth home as well. Again, this is a season finale and what we’re seeing set up here will probably happen next season, so I think this points to that.
And while I’m on the subject, let me say this. I know there are plenty of people out there who won’t believe me when I say it, but I’m not predicting Beth’s return in S10 JUST because we didn’t see her in S9. We’ve said since the beginning of the season—mostly because of all the Xs around her—that S10 would make a certain amount of sense for her return. But we have SO much evidence that she’s still coming and very close. I’ll get into it more below, and throughout the week as I post more.
Lydia’s Suicide Arc:
The first thing that tipped us off about this was when Daryl and TF are on the road and they look over to see walkers in the field.
Tumblr media
In terms of the plot, they were worried that those walkers might be whisperers. But this LOOKED identical to the walker Shane and Rick saw in the field in S2. In fact, that scene was used in the opening credits for years afterward. We even had theories involving that shot in the opening credits, which is why we recognized it so readily.
The thing is, that scene where Rick and Shane saw the walker in the field originally came from 2x10, 18 Miles Out. If you want to know how many symbols the writers took from that episode and later incorporated into Beth’s arc, read THIS. For purposes of the S9 finale, just recall that 2x10 was Beth’s suicide arc. The one where she cut her wrist—which Daryl razzed her about in Still—but then realized she wanted to live.
Why is this important? Obviously it was being used as a parallel for Lydia, who was also obviously suicidal in this episode. You could even argue that, when she offered the trapped walker her arm, had she gone through with it, it would have bitten either on the forearm or wrist, very close to the same spot Beth cut herself with the mirror.
Tumblr media
The thing is, why would they feel the need to include the walkers-in-the-field scene just to show Lydia’s state of mind. It certainly wasn’t necessary. Why callback to Beth? Unless of course there’s some greater purpose to that, you know? So that was very important.
Aside: I do want to say that I think this suicide arc with Lydia had heavy, HEAVY ties to Lizzie and Mica. I’ll talk about that in the next couple of days when I talk more about Carol and Ezekiel and how what happened here is good for TD. But we did see a lot of growth from Carol here, which I thought was beautiful. While she IS falling back into some of her same old patterns, we did see some growth for her, and I really loved seeing it. But more on that later. Trying to stay focused here. So much to say! Dah!
Tumblr media
P.S. Angela Kang? One of the writers of 18 Miles Out. Several people worked on that episode, including her, Gimple, Kirkman, and Darabont, but still. She wrote last night’s finale too, and the walker in the field scene appeared in both. I’m just saying, the parallels are FOR REALS, y’all.
Daryl Staring at the Portraits:
Okay, the first thing most people picked up on as being strange is that we didn’t actually SEE Beth’s portrait in this scene. I agree with all of you that it’s weird. But it’s more than just weird. It’s VERY weird. Given that we saw it earlier in the season with Jesus sitting in front of it, and then that we saw her body very obviously in Rick’s vision, why suddenly decide to hide the portrait from us now? It makes no sense.
Tumblr media
So on the one hand, I think it’s part of the “what is hidden” theme. They’ve hidden a lot of things about Beth from us, so it’s just more of that. But again, why now after showing us several images of her this season, letting us hear her voice, not to mention all the Henry parallels that were so ridiculously blatant that even non-TDers picked up on them. So why go back to this now?
I think it has everything to do with this scene and Daryl staring at the portraits. I think it boils down to them trying hard not to be too obvious. And, you know, mission accomplished. This was extremely subtle.
So, when Daryl looks at the portraits, watch his face very carefully. (Yes, I’m totally giving you permission to stare at Daryl for hours on end. ;D) And a shout out to Norman for this. Only someone who can use such subtle facial expressions to emote so powerfully could even pull this off. It’s a testament to his acting prowess.
Anyway, some are saying he looked sad when looking at the portraits. Others say he looked happy. I submit that we saw both emotions, but not at the same time.
Tumblr media
He first looks up at them and his eyes shift to the left (his right, our left). This is when we see a small, nostalgic smile. Now, the portraits we saw—of Glenn and Hershel—are on the left. So he’s looking at them when he smiles. I think that’s very sweet because it shows that he’s moved past the guilt he felt at both of their deaths and has reached a place where he can remember them fondly and smile.
Tumblr media
Then, just for a fraction of section, his eyes shift to the right—where we already know Beth’s portrait hangs—and the smile fades. That’s when he looks sad.
So even just typing that out, I’m having another thought. Let’s look at the writers intentions coming from the opposite direction. Maybe the whole point of showing us Beth’s portrait earlier in the season was specifically so we could figure out what Daryl was looking at in this moment. It was still SUPER subtle, and you pretty much have to watch the show as closely as TD does to get it, but if we hadn’t seen her portrait earlier in the season, we would have no hope of understanding the emotions running across Daryl’s face here. Angela is a sneaky woman, but I like her!
So what am I taking away from this. Oh, so much. The most obvious thing is that he’s not yet moved past his negative feelings over Beth’s death, as he seems to with Glenn and Hershel. So, even after all these seasons, he’s still not over her. (That’s why Donnie would have never happened y’all!)
Tumblr media
But something else interesting happened in this scene. Lydia asked him why he left Alexandria in the first place to live on his own in the woods. He tells her that he’ll talk to her about it someday. That’s totally huge, you guys!
First off, once again, this is a season finale, and setting up for next season. So I think it’s safe to say this talk will happen in S10. Small potatoes, maybe, but important to keep in mind.
Second, we’ve been wanting Daryl to talk to SOMEONE about Beth since S5. We’ve predicted more than once that maybe he would talk to Carol about it—such as in 7x10—but we were always wrong and it never happened. I don’t think it ever will. Not with Carol, anyway. But this was kind of a promise that he’ll talk to Lydia about it. Yet another reason all the parallels with Beth/Daryl and Henry/Lydia make sense. Why Daryl seeing their relationship, seeing Lydia lose Henry as he lost Beth, and now fathering Lydia, make perfect sense. He’s the one she’ll talk to.
Tumblr media
Now, ostensibly, what she means is why he left Hilltop and that had, plot-wise, to do with Rick and finding Rick’s body. So obviously they’ll talk about that. But if this is going to be a deep heart-to-heart, we all know Daryl’s feelings about what happened with Rick really started with Beth. Why did he search so long and so hard for Rick? Because he never found Beth, either. Why was he so devastated to lose Rick? Because he lost Beth first. And I don’t in any way mean to impugn Rick and Daryl’s relationship. Not at all. But Daryl’s grief for Rick did come on the heels of his unresolved grief for Beth, which made it worse.
So my point is that, even from a purely plot-based standpoint, talking to Lydia about Rick will have to include Beth. But the fact that he said this while standing in front of the portraits, right after he looked at Beth’s and stopped smiling, is a foreshadow that he’ll also talk about Beth. And remember, seeing this in the finale suggests that it’s something that will happen next season, in S10.
So I want to add one more thing to this about when Beth will return. While turning this all over in my head, I couldn’t help but think of 5x10, Them. (When don’t I, right?)
Daryl was super sad all throughout the episode (like Lydia in this one) but finally at the end, managed to talk to Maggie—very briefly—about Beth and even smile about her. It was only after that that the music box woke up.
Tumblr media
So I think this is setting up not only that Daryl will talk to Lydia about Beth, but that he’ll actually manage to heal from her death. At least to the point of talking about her fondly and being able to smile at the memories.
And, one more time (yes, I know I’ve hit broken record status, but don’t care) because this is the finale, I believe we’ll see this play out in S10. All this, combined with stuff Angela said last night about S10 really makes it sound like that’s when we’ll see Beth. I’ll get more into the details of that tomorrow.
So while we really hoped we’d see her in S9, and didn’t, nothing we said about S9 has turned out to be wrong. The parallels are still there, the symbolism is still strong, she’s still coming, and soon, but this show is notorious for moving slowly. So we just have to wait a little longer.
And I’ve tried to stress throughout the season that, while most of this shows that we’ll see her in this arc, that didn’t necessarily mean it would be in this season. So while I know lots of people are disappointed not to have seen her last night—I am too—I hope most of you will stick it out. Because our girl is still coming home. At this point, she’s practically circling the neighborhood.
