The 141’s Music Taste
A/N: The genres and artists I’ve selected were chosen through the lenses of a Black American, and I have no clue how popular they are in the U.K. However, given that these men have traveled the world, I doubt that really matters. Anyway, enjoy :)
Tumblr media
Captain John Price:
Now, I know he’s canonically only in his late 30s, but I imagine him loving oldies. And when I say oldies, I mean songs older than him. Blues, jazz, and classic rock have his heart. After a mission, he loves nothing more than to kick back with a cigar and whiskey, with some Ray Charles or Louis Armstrong playing in the background.
The only modern genre he really likes is R&B, largely due to how much the aforementioned genres influenced it. And by modern, I mean the stuff around during the early 2000s.
Also, despite his love for old music, he cannot stand classical. It gives him a headache and irritates him to high-heaven.
Tumblr media
Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley:
I see a lot of people headcanon that Ghost is a metalhead. It’s an obvious choice and honestly makes sense. However, given his past, I believe that he’d have an aversion to metal. He might not be opposed to the classic rock ‘n roll sound, but metal? That’s a no-go.
I imagine him loving music that centers around self-expression and conveying what the artist has gone through. It grounds him and helps him feel a little more human. Thus, I think that he’d love blues and rap above all genres.
He especially loves 2Pac because of how often he talked about the social issues around him, even if Ghost himself can’t relate to the bulk of them. He just likes that 2Pac used his fame to talk about what his community was going through, and he loves his versatility.
R&B is another genre he regularly listens to, and I can even see him dabbling in pop. And by pop, I mean Lana Del Rey esc music. Also, as odd as it may seem, I can see him really liking Melanie Martinez.
Tumblr media
Johnny ‘Soap’ McTavish:
Soap’s the metalhead of the bunch. He can give you an in-depth critique of all the famous bands and has a list of underground metal artists he adores. Due to being a part of an elite task force, he rarely gets a chance to see his favorites, so when he does, he buys a ludicrous amount of merchandise to commemorate the show.
However, though he’s a metalhead first and foremost, he can vibe with any music he can dance to. Beyonce’s Renaissance? He had it on repeat, playing it so much, that his bunkmates were too annoyed to even tease him. And after a particularly rough mission, I imagine he’d turn to a softer-sounding genre like R&B.
But don’t play anything too slow around him, because he will complain. And opera? It makes him murderous.
Tumblr media
Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick:
Gaz was the only one to willingly listen to Renaissance with poor Johnny. I don’t know why, but I can picture him being a big Bey fan, his love for her going all the way back to her Destiny Child days when she was his celebrity crush. Play any Beyonce song, and he’ll be able to tell you the name of it within 2.3 seconds. And since he grew up during their domination, he’s also partial to the Spice Girls.
Prince and Michael Jackson are two more of his favorites, and he even managed to get Sosp hooked on them.
Now, he does also enjoy more ‘masculine’ music, the primary example being ‘90s gangsta rap. However, I imagine him preferring genres like R&B, pop, melodic rap, and neo-soul. And unlike Ghost, his pop music doesn’t need to have a sad girl or sad-core lilt. No, he’ll be fine jamming to Britney Spears, Dojo Cat, and Dua Lipa.
If you can’t tell by now, R&B is basically the only genre the 141 can agree on. Rhythm and Blues is a very versatile genre, allowing every member to enjoy it despite their varied music tastes. And honestly, I’m kinda obsessed with them blasting it during missions.

Let’s talk about KAZUI‼️‼️‼️
CW: S//cide
Yes something that’s NOT Adachi
Recently, his new trial video came out, called “Cat” and it’s honestly such a banger. Here is the link to the video, highly recommend to watch first before reading!
youtube
This is my theory and brain dump at 1 AM and my first ever big theory! There will most likely be disjointed and have grammar mistakes, but I hope it makes sense. If there are detrimental mistakes, please lmk, i want to make sure it’s not full of crap‼️
NOTES: I am not going to provide “Guilty or not guilty” here, you do you, I’m not interested in swaying opinions.
I will be fully assuming that the “Kazui is gay” theory to be true. I am not going to explain it myself because many people have already done that. Obviously, gay Kazui is not the only true, gospel answer to his character, there are multiple different interpretations that are all valid and I would be very interested in hearing different theories as well🤝.
I will also be using the tumblr post below for Voice Drama TL, thank you so much for the translation🙏
Outline
Ordered from “Yeah I have some good ideas” to “I’m not sure”
1. Background/Setting
2. Marriage, Cats, and Doves
3. Magic, Masquerade, & Drinking
4. The Bartender
5. Apples
6. Extra Details
(Crazy/Stretch theories will be in Italics)
Background/Setting
To understand Kazui’s story a little better, I would like to quickly go over when this is taking place.
Tumblr media
Here we see the wife with a flip phone. This means that Kazui’s marriage was most likely around the late 90’s to early 2000’s. During that time, I believe that LGTBQ+ people were not as widely accepted and that there were still toxic gender stereotypes and expectations (I’m not 100% though hmu if I’m wrong 🙏). Kazui also stated that his parents find him embarrassing. It could be that they blame him for the wife’s death, but also because he is gay. If his parents come from an older generation, it’s no wonder that they find him embarrassing because they’re ignorant and terrible.
Tumblr media
Marriage, Cats, and Doves
As everyone has discussed when this first came out, “Cat” shows a lot of different themes through cats, doves, magic, marriage, and apples. This section will go over the first three aspects.
Many have stated before that the dove represent his ring as, at the start, he turns his ring into the dove. Obviously, doves are well known for their symbolism of love, hope, and peace. While the dove is supposed to represent their marriage, I also think it ties with his wife, seeing how she seems to hope that their love will bring them happiness. Adding onto this, it also explains why he watched and invited the dove to fly onto his arm. He was “playing” or leading the dove to him. Then it cuts to his eye, blankly staring at the pristine white of the bird. Note that this eye is the same as the one at the end of the MV. It can be assumed that it represents how, at the beginning, he could suppress his true emotions and playing along, but at the end, he becomes feral and mutilates the bird. (Image below shows how different they take the marriage, he’s uncomfortable while she’s beaming with joy).
Tumblr media
On the other hand, cats symbolize independence, intelligence, and cunning, something that Kazui shows throughout the MV through his intricate lies. I think he also has the “mannerisms” of a cat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here he says he “wanted to be touched”, showing his yearning to be in a comfortable, safe relationship with a man. However, due to gay relationships not being accepted back then, he is unable to experience this and becomes increasingly lonely. It’s similar to how cats are reclusive and tend to stay away until someone or something has something that interests them. (I’m not a cat expert so I might be wrong). While the previous lyrics do say “I just wanted to touch, to caress”, implying he wanted his wife, I think this is the wife’s thoughts who wanted to “caress” and “touch” aka get closer to Kazui. When the lyrics play, it pans over to her with the circles in the background pulsing quickly, referring to her quick heartbeat when she looks at him and how she desires to be with him.
Another theory as to what’s happening in that moment is that she’s assuming what he’s thinking. Kazui: “I just wanted…” Wife: “to touch, to caress” Kazui: “to be touched”. I also find it interesting that the circle from 0:27 shatters at 0:30.
The next lyric “So it’s wrong? Shove that!” Could be him wondering if wanting to be touched was wrong and “unmanly” of him. But, deep inside, he wants to scream out and say that he yearns for that feeling, that he wants to be loved, even if it didn’t fit the norm of “what a man should be”.
On to their really terrible marriage. There were lots of societal pressures to be married back in the day, so Kazui suddenly marrying a woman he didn’t even like was due to others expectations of him. Plus, Kazui wanted to be loved and he was feeling the consequences of loneliness, and this love she had felt for him seemed like an opportunity to somehow get what he wanted. A desperate attempt to receive love in a marriage he was fully disinterested in. 0:46 to 0:48 show this as he suddenly went from giving her flowers to wanting to marry her. It implies that he wanted this to go as fast as it could so he wouldn’t disappoint his family or be judged for being unmarried and gay, even if it costed his mental health and forced him to lie, which steadily declines throughout the MV until he finally cracks (further explained in 3).
The way he calls her his “victim” really says how he just used her to satisfy his own needs and also his extreme guilt for her death. This also foreshadows the coming violence as the perpetrator (cat) kills the victim (dove).
Lastly, him wanting to “keep it simple” is him hoping that she isn’t going to take their relationship super far. He wants to stay away from the more intimate part of the relationship, but it’s difficult since he just continues to lie and doesn’t talk about himself at all.
(I will be skipping ahead to the end as I want to save the rest of the details for later) Now we’re at the most famous part of the MV, him smoking and then absolutely devouring and mauling a dove. He most likely did all of this in a drunken state. 1) There’s a glass at 1:49 that slowly drops to the ground, possibly him losing his grip on reality or his literal grip on the glass thanks to drinking way too much. 2) From 2:13 to 2:19, he struggles to get up and holds his head, he even takes off his ring IN FRONT of her, something he’d never do if he was thinking straight because it would break his lies. (I’ll explain the drinking later on).
Tumblr media
Finally, the violent part. We have no idea if the symbolism in this is exaggerated or if it’s 100% accurate, but judging from how much he hates himself, it’s probably over blown to an extent. So what does it mean? Well it definitely is supposed to show how he interpreted his outburst before his wife’s suicide. Him transitioning from perfectly calm (before smoke) to becoming this “evil” person (after smoke) is him showing that he doesn’t deserve forgiveness for what he’s done. Then, him killing the dove represents how he thought he said nasty or distasteful things. On top of that, it also represents how he believes he killed his wife by angerly venting his feelings out so much that pushed her over the edge, in other words, taking “chewing someone out” on a violent level. This is his interpretation of what happened though and I don’t think he exploded. Instead, I think he just made poor word choices. The two of them, or at least Kazui, lacked communication and due to his drunken state, he just blurted out what he was feeling. I don’t have any substantial evidence to back this up though, so take this last one with a grain of salt.
3. Magic, Masquerade, & Drinking
Tumblr media
I LOVE the magic and masquerade symbolism in particular as it is pretty much how he views the whole relationship. He interprets his lies as these magic tricks that fools people on the outside into believing that yes he truly does love this woman. It’s also why he turned the ring into a dove in the first place, he just sees the marriage as a big magic show that he has to put on for as long as he can.
“Lie until it gets better, follow the king of masquerade.”
I really love this line because he refers to himself as the “king of masquerade”. He calls himself this because all his life, he’s been putting up these different personas and characteristics that aren’t him. It’s literally seen in “half” as he wear different clothing and keeps a mask on the entire time. He knows that if he were to drop this act, no one would truly accept him. He would be cast out and never have the opportunity to be loved again. So living a life of lies seemed to be the most viable option to him, but he also resents himself for it. He admits that he can’t live unless he lies, it truly is his only life line and a life line others rely on too (aka his wife).
“So l've tried to change! I've tried to change. I have tried to stop lying to myself and others! I've confided in others. I've tried to be myself! I've tried to just be the way I was born! It's not my lies that killed her. She's dead because I stopped lying to her! If I had just kept lying- She wouldn't have died..! I can't live unless I lie. That's how I was born... I'm pathetic, aren't I?”
As is the magician’s code, he can’t reveal the secret to his “magic”.
However, all this lying obviously takes a toll on him as in the latter half of the MV, he starts drinking and smoking more. In each shot from 1:12 to 1:46 he is always seen indulging in his addictions. It’s his way to escape from reality and forget about his current relationship. What I find most interesting though is the meal he has with his wife. It seems they are celebrating something as the Ace of Spades (which hovers in between the two as they speak) symbolize good luck, hope, and change. They’re even drinking champagne and having a nice meal. What they could be celebrating though is beyond me, they’re probably on their first or third anniversary considering they look older? Besides that, there’s also the most interesting clip of a man when he holds up his champagne glass. I think that this is supposed to show that he uses drinking for more than just forgetting about his current situation, he also wants to dream about a life he couldn’t have. A life with someone he loves. He probably tries to replace his wife in his head with another man by drinking, trying to make the “magic show” more tolerable. The man could also be his guilt starting to rise and bubble up like the carbonation in the champagne, sitting in front of him and judging him, telling him “Are you really going to keep lying to her after all this time?”.
Finally, at the end of the MV, he is unable to keep up his magic show anymore due to drinking way too much. All his “tricks” fall to the ground, another way of showing his masquerade mask has finally fallen. He then ends his first act at the start of the MV (aka his marriage) by tearing it apart.
4. The Bartender
Now THIS is an interesting thing people have pointed out. The bartender from the previous MV comes back for a cameo in the newest one. But it’s not just a small, little nod, no he’s full front and center in the frame.
Tumblr media
Even more interesting is that he’s the only one with a wedding ring in the shot. I was really thinking that maybe everyone would have one as a way to show societal pressures, but this also works too.
This is the third time the man has shown up in Kazui’s MV’s. Though he might not have a face, it’s clear that he is of some sort of importance in Kazui’s life to show up so much, especially if he appears so clearly in “Cat”. Maybe Kazui wants to keep his identity a secret so he wouldn’t have to open up old wounds. With this information, we can assume he’s talking to the bartender from 1:13 to 1:24 as the table & drink is just like the one in “half”. There’s also the sound of a drink being prepared/served at 1:10. So he could very well be Kazui’s love interest as he carefully confesses to him. However, they’re both married, something that Kazui clearly remembers as he only sees his ring in the shot with all the guests. Though I think that, from this scene, he wished that they were the ones being married because he’s the only one with a ring, that is also similar to Kazui’s, on. That’s why he asked what he’d do if he said that he “liked-liked” him, would the bartender accept him or reject him? Although, I don’t actually think he’s drunk when he asks. Maybe he’s had a few drinks, but his speech is way too clear. Remember he’s also the “king of lies” so no one can really be sure of his true nature. His likely reasons about lying about being drunk is because 1) there are possibly people around and 2) he’d rather not embarrass himself if the bartender didn’t respond at all.
Now comes the tricky part, who is the bartender? The most common answer would be his be his childhood friend, and I’d have to agree. There really is no other person to identify him as and it would make the most sense as to why he appears so much. In “Interrogation Question 8”, he mentions that he “looks up to [his childhood friend]” implying that he could be older. If we’re willing to stretch this and say that age is shown through facial hair and the fact that the bartender possibly owns the establishment (Kazui mentioned his friend owned a boat, what kind is not mentioned, but it does say something about the man’s wealth), then he could very well be the childhood friend. At some point though, he seemed to stop going to the bar. Most likely because his friend responded badly to his “confession” or that they already knew it wasn’t possible and Kazui didn’t want to see his face anymore since he’d only feel even more lonely than he already was, thinking that what he had said ruined their friendship forever. It then cuts to him sitting alone drinking whiskey, something he always buys at the bar. He states that he “wanted to ask so it’s out in the open. I just got a little greedy.” This implies that he wanted to “let it slip” in his “drunk” state. However, it didn’t go very smoothly and his greed only brought him more pain.
There’s also a thing with whiskey in that whenever he has it he seems to be allow his masquerade mask to fall. It’s probably because it reminds him of his childhood friend who he loves as he always buys the same drink from his bar. The scenes where whiskey appears is the previously mentioned confession scene followed by him sitting alone. It also appears when he becomes feral as it is the beverage he drops at 1:50.
5. Apples
This one has been discussed the most and I honestly don’t have anything new to bring to the table with it. But I’ll just add it in here
First let’s start off with the symbolism of the red apple, which is pretty easy to pin point. In the MV, It’s only used in the middle after he pulls the cloth off of the wedding couple (aka Kazui and his wife) and at the end when the wife dies. There are an abundance of the red apples at the wedding, representing how much love she has for Kazui. Then, when she dies, it’s squashed, and it’s supposed to show her impact onto the ground and their love being ended right there.
The green apple is slightly harder to figure out. It seems to represent how Kazui feels about the relationship and how he only likes her platonically. The green apple appears in the abundance of red apples, underneath Kazui during the dinner, and, most importantly, as a man. The first two can be easily interpreted as him trying to keep his platonic feelings a secret. He even literally tried to keep it under the table to hide it from her. Then, there’s the apple-man(?). The first meaning of this is how he, again, sees the wife as only a friend. However, there’s also another meaning. The drawing takes great amounts of inspiration from the painting The Son of Man, by René Magritte, which makes sense given the similarities the MV and the meaning behind the painting. Magritte said,
“…You have the apparent face, the apple, hiding the visible but hidden… face of the person. It's something that happens constantly. Everything we see hides another thing, we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest in that which is hidden and which the visible does not show us. This interest can take the form of a quite intense feeling, a sort of conflict, one might say, between the visible that is hidden and the visible that is present."
Tumblr media
This painting’s meaning has so many parallels with Kazui’s character, almost as if the writers wanted us to realize it since the introduction of the green apple in “half”. The biggest difference between the two is that Kazui does not reveal his eyes. He keeps who he really is behind the apple, keeping who he is a secret and preventing any sort of “intense feeling” of wanting to get to know the true him. He doesn’t want any conflict to arise and fears the consequences of coming out.
6. Extra Details
I Wonder why at the start, he kind of just stares at the screen like he’s judging/hoping that Es will make the right decision. It’s also reminiscent of how he stared at Es in his 2nd Voice Drama. Very strange but I like it
Tumblr media
I love it when there’s similar scenes fr fr
Another thing id like to bring up rq is Kant. Es brought him up in Kazui’s 2nd voice drama since he had “killed” someone due to his lies. Es directly quotes him, “That would be Kant…A philosopher who stated that lying is inherently a sin, no matter the circumstances…Apparently, even if your friend is being chased by a murderer and the murderer asks you about their whereabouts, you shouldn't lie, according to Kant.” Kant’s reasoning for selling out your friend to a murderer is that if you were to lie about where they were and by chance the murderer found them, it’d be your fault. However, if you did sell them out and they died, it wouldn’t be your fault, your friend should’ve just avoided the psycho! This is what Kant believed and, personally, it makes no sense, especially if we’re considering a human life that’s on the line. Brushing over that though, the connection Es essentially tries to make is that Kazui’s lies are his greatest sin and that he should’ve told the truth from the start. While yes, most things would’ve been prevented if he had tried to be more true to others, there are also standards to consider as well. If Kazui had come out, then he’d be shunned, if he refused to marry, he’d be shunned, etc. so there wasn’t an easy way out for him. Kant’s philosophy fails to consider any other situation or being truthful to one self. His murderer example is way too extreme and it doesn’t hone in on the finer details. Which is why I don’t think Es really knew wtf they were talking about and I honestly find the Kant thing kind of dumb💀
The comments in this video explain how dumb Kant is way better than I can vv

Call of Duty headcanons - 141's favorite metal bands/metal genres
This headcanon was personal for me, so I didn't rush this one.
This is pure fluff!
Includes Phillip Graves
Comment what headcanons you guys wanna see, because I'm running out of ideas fast lol. It can be anything, any pairing, any headcanon, any character. You ask, I'll do it.
Enjoy my self indulging headcanons about heavy metal.
John "Soap" MacTavish - Hair/thrash metal
Tumblr media
If you ever asked Soap what his favorite kind of rock music was, he would say "party rock by lmfao" He's an airhead, be patient with him lol
In all seriousness, hair/thrash metal is more his style.
If you couldn't tell by the way Soap takes care of his mohawk, homeboy loves the crazy hairstyles. Goes feral over it.
Soap wears tight jeans that extenuate his thighs all the time on missions, so he loves to just dress in the tightest of pants and pretend to be in an 80s music video.
Leather, animal print, spandex, even studded or spiky chaps. You name it, Soap will do it.
Will definitely put on some sensual 80s metal song during sex. Kingdom comes's "what Love Can Be" Sounds about right.
Soap once brought the 141 to a Pantera concert, and ended up brawling some punks in the moshpit for bullying Gaz.
They ended up getting kicked out by security and Ghost ended up dragging his sorry ass through the parking lot.
Price was definitely a disappointed dad that night. Mostly disappointed at himself for letting his children get too rowdy on his watch... and joining in on the brawl.
Simon "Ghost" Riley - Melodic/doom metal
Tumblr media
When the cold weather begins to come around later in the year, and bands like Katatonia, Opeth and Swallow the Sun put out more music, Ghost is always there.
Ghost is from Britain, so he appreciates any music that comes from Europe.
There are two types of moshpits when it comes to melodic/doom metal - The ones with viking chanting and feral animal noises - and the ones with the tear jerkers, the ones that go just to feel things.
Ghost once took a trip to Sweden with Soap for work, catching a Katatonia concert while there.
By the time the fith or sixth song starts playing, Soap is baffled and emotionally drained by how heavy Katatonia's riffs and lyrics are.
Standing in a sea of swaying, rowdy and possibly drunk crowd of thousands of Swedes, Ghost takes the opportunity to hold Soap's hand.
In Ghost's defense, it's an outdoor event, and it's so cold outside, hell could've froze over. Soap knows the real reason, though.
By the end of the night, everyone is headbanging and swaying.
They both plan to go again next year.
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick - Alt/nu/rap metal
Tumblr media
Gaz is that "I listen to everything" kind of friend.
Is definitely open to new groups, genres and sounds.
Leans more into the early 2000s rock/metal a little more.
Gaz is more "cultured" like the younger generation is, and loves the memes that came with the generation too.
Some of the rookies will catch Gaz singing along to a Rammstein song, and fail... miserably. His German sucks.
Soap and Gaz got so drunk one night that both men started belting "bring me to life" by Evanescence every time Ghost would walk into a room, and laughed so hard they almost threw up.
Some 90s rap metal is cheesy, but Gaz tolerates it. Since he mostly grew up with hip hop, Gaz feels obligated to like some rap metal.
Loves any kind of metal song with movie references or influences.
Gaz doesn't go to a lot of concerts, no matter how much of an extrovert he is. It's just not his thing, especially when it comes to heavy metal.
HUGE fan of Linkin Park.
Gaz definitely cried after Chester Bennington's death. Has a whole Playlist dedicated to the singer. 💙
John Price - Alt/classic/grunge metal
Tumblr media
Price is a man who loves the classics.
Just because something is "classic", doesn't necessarily mean it's "old".
Yes, Price is older than all of them (probably), and grew up with a lot of 70s and 80s music, but surprisingly, Price loves bands who are with the modern times.
The cure, Deftones, Bush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM. You name it.
Tried to get into punk metal once, definitely wasn't for him.
Like Gaz, he's the "I listen to everything" friend.
Price goes into bars once in a while while off duty, with the boys and Laswell and will hear a Soundgarden song playing. He likes it. A lot.
Cigars, whiskey, company of friends and some metal is what makes his nights better. It lifts his spirits tremendously.
Definitely doesn't go to concerts anymore. Will flat out say no if you asked, end of conversation.
Why go to concerts when you can watch them at home on YouTube? Lol
Will cook breakfast to the sound of Alice in Chains playing in the background.
Phillip Graves - Metalcore/post-hardcore
Tumblr media
Like the all American he is, Graves likes to fucking party. The best kind of parties? Metalcore concerts.
Graves' journey through his metal listening experience started tame enough. It soon turned into being fascinated with groups like Lorna Shore, the Dillinger Escape Plan and Atreyu.
Tried to once attempt a fry scream. Ended up blowing his vocal cords out.
He'll put Lorna Shore full blast on his headphones and let Will Ramos' voice numb his brain until his head is buzzing and his ears are ringing.
Likes to test people's ability to point out vocals. "Is this an animal? Or a human being making this sound?" LOL
Will throw shit with every breakdown in a song.
Comes up behind someone and will yell a "BLEGH!" just to scare the shit out of you. Lol

Okay so this is going to be my overall thoughts on Clone High season 2!
A lot of people have and will continue to complain about how it’s not as good or as funny as season one and that’s both fair and unfair. As a fanfic writer I know how hard it can be to continue writing a story after not working on it for a long time especially after working on new projects. And the same can be said for the show runners here, a lot has changed since they first produced season one. This was something that if it wasn’t for COVID it might have never been revived, so I can forgive them for it not feeling exactly the same as before after all it was twenty years ago. Jokes that worked then wouldn’t work now, I get and respect that. With that being said it could have been better.
For one besides Abe in the first episode no one seems to struggle with adjusting to 2023! That kinda of doesn’t make sense, I get not wanting to bring it up all the time but side jokes and cutaways could have worked. I also found it weird that we barely see any foster parents this season, you’re telling me that the Clones from 2003 parents weren’t freaking out when they suddenly came home after being gone for twenty years! I mean it’s not like the foster parents were important to the story but they could have shown some kind of reaction to them just showing up again?!
Like wouldn’t it have been funny if the foster parents were like super protective of their kids when they came back to the point of putting tracking devices on their phones or something?! I don’t know maybe not that but something! Also is John Stamos alive or dead after what happened? It’s also never addressed!
I do like the inclusion of all the new characters though, they do really add some new elements to the show and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. But again I expected this going into this season. Another thing that has changed is that besides Harriet no one seems to be trying to live up to or are pressured by expectations of their Clone parents. This was a running theme in season one for all the characters and yet this theme is just given to one person now? Sometimes the other clones might mention something but it’s very rare.
Now to get into the relationship that took up most of the season Joanfk, as a huge fan of the ship I was both excited and dreading to see how this relationship would develop. And that’s mostly because of the new intro, I personally don’t think the creators were ever going to make them a couple in 2003, they clearly seem to favor Abe/Joan which makes sense because during that time period the Friends to Lovers trope ruled most shows. I feel like Joanfk was done because they knew that a lot of the new fans wanted to see it, after all Joanfk shippers are one of the main reasons this show was not only revived but people kept talking about it until season two came out. I’m not gonna say that it’s not possible that they could get back together because Clone High is satire a parody of all the teen drama shows and movies it’s very possible that they could get back together again at some point. And honestly I hate the reason they gave for breaking them up being that JFK wasn’t smart enough both intellectually and emotionally for Joan to stay with him when throughout this season alone we can see that this isn’t even really true. I appreciate that they did this and even gave them a semi respectable breakup but (and I could be wrong) BUT clearly they’re not that into Joanfk. And yet still the biggest obstacle to Joanfk starts and ends with Joan not being sure how she feels about Abe (or even JFK sometimes) and not doing anything to resolve it.
Abe and Joan if the show had continued it’s run in 2003 this couple would have probably been end game, it’s the classic Friends to Lovers trope that the 90’s and early 2000’s loved. After all the show Friends basically coasted on this one trope as well as Saved by the Bell etc…Personally I think the Friends to Lovers trope can work if it’s done well Kim Possible is an example that I can think of that does this well and though some might not like Kim and Ron being endgame I think its actually done well and believable. And then there’s the times when I don’t think it’s done well (again this is just my opinion!) like with Danny Phantom. Don’t get me wrong Danny and Sam started off as cute and I did root for them…in season one after that the writers basically just dragged this trope out till the very end. And it didn’t help that (in my opinion) Valerie and Danny’s relationship was a lot more interesting. I mentioned this because Abe and Joan’s possible relationship seems to be something the writers want to drag out and this is bad because you could very easily lose your audience because of that. I get that dragging it out is part of the humor and satire but in a time where a lot of shows can easily be canceled (especially with the writers strike still going on) it’s not the best way to go. I will never like Abe and Joan being together as much as Joanfk (I really do think it’s the better relationship between the two of them despite what was said in episode seven) but I can at least get used to it and be happy for them if it’s not dragged out. Or they can make the three of them polyamorous I’m fine with that too!
The other couples are fine for the most part Confucius and Harriet will have their issues I can already see it but I am willing to give it a chance. Again the last episode (spoilers if you haven’t seen it) it makes sense that Harriet acted the way she did because again of all of the clones right now she seems to be the only one who feels any pressure about living up to her clone mother. And Confucius well he has rich foster parents even if he doesn’t qualify to get into a college he’ll be admitted it makes sense that he’s not worried about it or thinking about it.
Frida and Cleo are perfect, I only wish there had been more hints of them throughout the season but in like two episodes the pace and execution of this relationship was done perfectly and believable. It’s one of the few couples that’s just cute and has nothing else messing with it. Was it fair that Frida let go of Joan to save Cleo, not really but it made sense that she would save her girlfriend, over her girl friend.
Okay now to talk about the characters one on one.
JFK continues to improve and grow despite this being a satire teen drama show, he makes male friends, is in a committed relationship with one person where he Doesn’t cheat or even thinks about anyone else all the time. (Only one episode sorta counts) It’s hard but he accepts Joan’s decision to break things off with him even though he really does love her to the point of wanting what is best for her even if it’s not him. He even becomes friends with Abe and encourages him to pursue someone he still very clearly loves. I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out he was faking it in episode seven just to give Joan an excuse to leave because he was afraid he wasn’t enough to make her happy.
Cleo didn’t get enough screen time for someone who is a main character, and besides her relationship with Frida and squashing her beef with Joan. And the fact that most of the beef was between them fighting over Abe is strangely never brought up. She’s not given much to do throughout this season besides being Homecoming Queen. An episode where she has to navigate the world of social media like Instagram would have been interesting to see. Maybe in season three?
Frida is one of the new main characters and I think she fits well with the show so far. Again love her relationship with Cleo, but besides that I think she’ll be like voice of reason character going forward. Not much to say besides that because well this is her first season on the show!
Harriet another new main character and again seems to be the one dealing with the pressures of being a clone the most. Wanting to be great because her Clone mother was Harriet Tubman makes a lot of sense and I think it touches on a lot of people’s fears of not doing anything important with their lives. I looked forward to seeing how she grows.
Confucius another new main character who is just trying to gain the attention of his foster parents. It’s very clear that attention is what he wants out of anything. You can see it whenever they show him on FlipFlop, and again the fact that he’s not worried about college makes sense whether he doesn’t want to go or knows that his parents will pay for him eventually. I look forward to seeing how he develops.
Topher the last new main character, there is a lot that someone can say about him, I’m pretty sure he’s now the favorite character whether it’s because you love or hate him. Honestly I like that they have a character that’s awful, do I think he’s closeted…maybe but I do believe that one of the reasons he was “white leveraging” Abe is to keep Abe’s attention to himself. I don’t think he had any friends before Abe was thawed out and he probably wouldn’t be able to hang around the group if it wasn’t for him. So it makes sense that he would “white leverage” him from telling Joan how he felt because then Topher would no longer have an audience because Abe would likely spend all his time with Joan.
Abe learns a bit throughout the season but I don’t think he grows much until nearly the end. He spends most of season pinning over Joan and…that’s it he doesn’t become friends with JFK until the last episode and as far a we know the reason why he even realized that he loved Joan was because Cleo had made her look hot in season one. It’s never addressed why he suddenly loves her, and yeah that’s it. Sure he’s “punished for his behavior” in the first episode and it almost makes it seem that Joan and Abe won’t be friends this season but that is quickly forgotten by the end of the episode. Again I do think the Joan/Abe relationship will happen or at least be addressed between them but it’s likely that it will be dragged for a while. I will admit that the moments where they’re together just being friends is nice though.
Joan changes the most throughout this season whether you liked the changes or not. It starts with her dating JFK which while I enjoyed seeing, it was never addressed on why she accepted his offer in the first place. Sure they slept together at prom but there wasn’t enough done to explain within the show why she agreed to date him. (Honestly it’s like the show runners were like, the Joanfk fanfic writers did that for us we don’t have to explain ourselves!) Then she becomes friends with Frida and Harriet which I thought was nicely done, then she and Cleo come to an understanding! But her feelings for Abe linger throughout the season and something that I noticed after episode ten is that Joan is codependent, if she believes that she doesn’t have a boyfriend or friends to support her then she turns into a monster. Season three will either address what she did in the first episode or throughout the season either way she’ll be punished for it. Even if she did realize at the last minute that what she was doing was wrong.
The rest of the cast was fine Mr. B’s backstory was compelling, I don’t know why the writers felt that Scudworth needed a love interest but…it happened? Candide is interesting enough we’ll see how it goes. Sorry not saying more but this is pretty long already.

Rottmnt Splinter Age Analysis:
I think Splinter is in his early to mid 40’s during the show and movie. This is how I came to that conclusion.
I’d say Yoshi left his grandfather to pursue acting in America in his late teens, probably shortly after graduating. We see this in his character design during the memory where he leaves. I say late teens and not early twenties also because he says he wished he had payed better attention to his grandfather’s “stories” and not “training” as might be expected if he had started a clan education (beyond ninjitsu training) to prevent the return of the Shredder, which assumably would intensify after graduation
Given his mastery of ninjitsu and combat, it is not unrealistic to assume Yoshi was spotted and cast quite quickly after arriving in America.
From the show, we know Lou Jitsu starred in at least 10 movies (this includes his J.I.T.S.U instructional video), so he acted for approximately 10 years as far as we know.
I say 10 movies in 10 years as straight action movies before cgi had a relatively quick turnaround for production to screen and this would have been the 90’s to early 2000’s but movies with an early career Bruce Lee & Jackie Chan style. Bruce Lee was actively acting for 32 years and made 37 feature films, plus 20 television appearances. So a film a year is being generous given that Yoshi probably did a lot of things for real and not as choreographed stunts, cutting down shooting time and prep.
So that gives us an approximate age of late 20’s / early 30’s for when Big Mama kidnaps him. She probably had him fighting for at least a couple months before his escape given the fact that he was reigning champ but got tired and turned to pacifism. So I’d say at most he was in the Nexus for a year.
We know that the kidnapping by Barry and mutation / lab explosion happened 13/14 years prior to the show’s timeline as Draxum sings so in the show
So this leads me to say Splinter is in his early to mid 40’s during the show
Now I say all this in lead up to my actual thesis point:
40’s is pretty young to have serious back issues (without pre-existing disabilities/heath issues), let alone one that can immobilize him one moment then be totally fine the next (with some realignment)
So I have two possible explanations for Splinter’s back problems:
#1 — Stunt injuries. He was an action hero with a decent career of high intensity fighting movies. Even without injuries on set, stunt work takes a toll on the body
#2 — (the far more sad & angsty reason) Being mutated into a rat has shortened his lifespan. Rats only live 2-3 years on average, so the mutation may have had an effect on his speed of aging
His (presumably) premature greying could also be a sign of the fast aging as greying hair rate has been proven to not be influenced by stress and is purely genetic. He is a grey rat with white hair in the more human places despite having black hair as a human. Additionally, Asians are know to start greying in their late 30’s on average (later than white people but earlier than black people). Grandpa Sho had white hair in flashbacks in the show, but would have been in his 60’s at least when Yoshi left. So I admit it could also be argued that the greying is genetic depending on what age you think Hamatos started their families
Anyways, thank you for reading my analysis rant 😅
I put moderate research in and double checked facts concerning my points, but take this with a grain of salt lol

Reading Break - Worms & Spiders
Featured Art: MotaArt: (above) Rick Leonardi & Al Williamson:  Spider-man 2099 #1 Mark Bagley & Art Thibert: Ultimate Spider-man #11 Patrick Olliffe: Amazing Spider-man Family #3
Welp!
It’s been longer since I last posted here than I'd hoped it would be.  Unfortunately, I’ve had to prioritize work for the time being, and it’ll probably be a little while longer before I have the opportunity to post my next episode review [TNG ep. 123 will be next in line, when I do finally get to it].  In lieu of writing, I’ve been trying to be at least bit more mindful with my downtime, avoiding the various social media timewasters, and taking more time to read.
For my "serious" reading, I’ve been slowly picking away at ‘God Emperor of Dune’, which is pretty fucking trippy.  Seriously, If you thought the first book was weird, then I’m here to tell you that whatever "spice" Frank Herbert was using, he upped the dose exponentially for each subsequent entry.  I’ve read a lot of disparaging reviews and comments online about ‘God Emperor’ that led me to believe it might be pompous and dull, but I’ve honestly found it to be thoroughly engaging, though admittedly subject-at-times to some ignorant world views.
Tumblr media
For my "fun" reading, my recent reviews of ‘Spider-man: TAS’ have inspired me to peruse through my old Spidey comics, which have been a real trip down memory lane (and very on-brand for this blog). The two series I’ve been bouncing between are the original ‘Ultimate Spider-man’ from the early 00’s, and ‘Spider-man 2099’ (early 90’s).  I remember when each respective series was first being released, and how cutting edge each of them seemed.  Overall, I’d say they hold up decently well, although clearly products of their time.
‘Spider-man 2099’ is unsurprisingly the more noticeably dated of the two, and a lot of that comes down to the now-unmistakeable 90’s aesthetic, along with the somewhat clunky ‘future slang’, which seems to predominantly consist of substituting profanity with vaguely techno-sounding-words.  If you don’t know what the Shock I’m talking about you can go look it up for yourself. But It’s Rick Leonardi’s artwork where the book really stands out to me, though.  I always thought he was an underappreciated artist, and deserved a proper run on ASM, but 2099 probably gave him a better opportunity to flex his talents.
Tumblr media
I feel like a lot of people forget today (as I suppose they inevitably tend to) that Ultimate Spider-man was once THE hottest Spider book on the market, and while reboots-featuring-a-teenage-peter-parker may be a dime a dozen today, it was a breath of fresh air in the year 2000.  It’s easy to see why too, Bendis and Bagley work great together, and it didn’t hurt that Marvel spared no expense on the physical presentation of the book.  Simply put, each issue looks sharp, from the digitally painted cardstock covers, to the glossy pages; this was a book with high production values, featuring top tier talent. No expense was spared in making sure the artists were featured in the best possible light.
Tumblr media
One thing I’ve can’t help but notice is the differences in attitudes and ideals between the two books. I know a lot of people like to pretend that comics were less political ‘back in the day’ but that’s never been true.  I do think that politics have sometimes been easier to ignore during times of less civil unrest, but clearly the writers have always had opinions and ideals that were being expressed whether they knew it or not.  For instance, Peter David’s work on 2099 seems to lean more politically left, and is notably quite critical of nationalist, corporate, and capitalist interests, depicting a world that feels (in some ways) more relevant now than it was back when the series was being released.
Comparatively, Bendis’ writing seems to play it a bit safer.  He appears largely progressive in his social views, but also less willing to criticize institutions like the military or government beyond anything on a surface level.  I can’t say it’s too surprising, since ‘Ultimate Spider-man’ only began it’s run shortly before the 9/11 attacks, and I can imagine that even if he were inclined to do so, Bendis would have likely received pushback from anything deemed too politically controversial. But some of his writing leads me to suspect he falls towards a more politically centrist stance, resulting in a book that, while being LOADS of fun, has perhaps less to say on certain social issues. Some people might argue it’s for the best, but I kinda like it when writers are willing to get a bit messy, as I think it makes for more interesting discourse.  But then again, maybe I’ll find myself eating these words as I continue my read through.
I think that’s enough musing from me.  The fact remains that each of the artists I’ve discussed in this post are far more accomplished than I will likely ever be.   At any rate these criticisms are really more just meandering observations, about which I could easily change my mind later on.  Hopefully I’ll have more time to focus on my proper episode reviews in the coming months.
But if you’ve made it this far, thanks for hanging out.

okay so i'm a bit of a fashion history hobbyist and i know a bit! I will say that most people, depending on their amount of disposable income, are probably going to be wearing things years out of date, so using early 1980's styles wouldnt be that anachronistic. That all being said, as for late 1980's-early 1990's fashion, darker and muted colors start to be more popular compared to earlier years, as well as a slightly slimmer silhouette around the shoulders, though still fairly loose clothing, and patterns start becoming smaller though theres still plenty of them, but the 1980's/90's is full of a bunch of different popular styles, even more than most other earlier eras (there's some links here to the slow but steady androgenization of clothing due to more progressive politics/subcultures gaining traction, and black people's styles started to be co-opted a lot more by the white public, but these are different topics), so i might suggest looking up fashion magazines from 1985, 1986, and 1987? which, unless your characters are buying new clothing regularly (which is a totally valid character choice btw!) would be fairly reasonable. uhh i know i use fashionhistory.fitnyc.edu sometimes, and they might have a page going through the 1980's decade? ultimately though! you can never go wrong with a button up in 20th/21st century fashion! might be worth picking a celebrity who was active during the 1980's and seeing what they wear!
idk if any of this helps and you might have known this all already!!, but i thought some of this might be worth mentioning haha!
omg thanks!!! yeah you're totally right about characters/people holding onto clothes for years (stares at my closet that has clothes from like 10 years ago probably) lol. it's a good reminder to not get fixated on that. earlier in the story, when i referenced a specific car, i picked a 1978 model knowing that i definitely didn't want him to have a new car. i also tend to not include technology unless it was being sold for at least two years, to try and account for people not adopting it on the cutting edge. anyway, i do not think anybody in firewatch au is going to be on the forefront of trendy fashion lmao but i appreciate the tips so i can try to establish some realistic everyday looks that aren't just [insert 80s stereotype]
thank you for the sources! fashion/hair wasn't my only struggles but it was the more difficult one to nail down. i found it much easier to research technology, and also fairly easy to look at forest service policy history since there were so many sources following the 1988 fires. it's wild because i'm quite good at fashion within my own lifetime--like i can pick out the little differences between 2000s to now and construct a sort of "mental timeline" of how popular looks evolved, but as soon as you go back to before i was born i've got no concept of it beyond basic decades vibes sldjfsdlkfjsl

120: Warren Zevon // Life'll Kill Ya
Tumblr media
Life'll Kill Ya Warren Zevon 2000, Artemis
In the mid-1990s, after 20 years as a confirmed rocker, Warren Zevon started volunteering to interviewers that he had always really considered himself a folk singer at heart, the one-off success of “Werewolves of London” notwithstanding. This tact was largely a way of putting a positive spin on the fact that Zevon could no longer afford to tour with a full band, forcing him to play predominantly solo acoustic shows to a dwindling audience. But this new economic reality did push Zevon’s songwriting in a folkier direction, and the quieter, more intimate records that comprise his late period contain some of his finest music.
youtube
The transition began with 1995’s home-recorded Mutineer, which despite the quality of its songs (“The Indifference of Heaven,” “Mutineer,” “Monkey Wash, Donkey Rinse”) was undone by Zevon’s disastrously inept self-production. His new management was determined not to repeat the error for his latest comeback attempt (every Zevon record since 1982 had been billed as a “comeback”), and they decided to look for a contemporary producer who could play to Zevon’s strengths while freshening up his sound. They asked Warren what recent albums he’d liked the production on, and he told them “Radiohead.” To Zevon’s surprise, they replied that they could get Radiohead’s producer—although, granted, it was Pablo Honey’s Paul Q. Kolderie rather than Nigel Godrich, which is kind of a “We have Radiohead at home” situation. Still, Kolderie proved to be an excellent choice. When he listened to Zevon’s demos, he understood that the power of the songs was accentuated by their spare arrangements, and he was able to steer Zevon away from the star-studded guest lists he’d relied upon to drum up commercial interest in his music since his late ‘70s breakthrough. The resulting LP, 2000’s Life’ll Kill Ya, plays like the album Mutineer should’ve been, a stripped-down, well-recorded affair focused on Zevon’s remarkable words and increasingly skilful guitar playing.
It was frequently observed around the time of Zevon’s untimely death in 2003 from mesothelioma that, despite his final LP The Wind being pitched as a meditation of mortality, he’d already cut his ‘death’ album three years prior. Zevon was unaware of his burgeoning illness during the writing of Life’ll Kill Ya, but it’s hard not to read foreshadowing into the blunt doctor-patient dialogue of “My Shit’s Fucked Up” or the humanist prayer “Don’t Let Us Get Sick.” Death is everywhere on this album, whether Zevon’s pondering what comes after this life, poking at the corpse of Elvis Presley, or comparing his relationship history to a series of gruesomely botched magic tricks (“I can saw a woman in two / But you won’t wanna look / In the box when I’m through / I can make love disappear / For my next trick, I’ll need a volunteer”).
Still, mordant humour had been Zevon’s stock in trade for decades, and the album continues the fascinations that animated him his whole career. What makes Life’ll Kill Ya a standout is its sensitivity, a quality that often got a little lost in the macho mythologizing of his ‘80s and early ‘90s catalogue. At another time, Zevon might’ve written something like “Hostage-O” as a throwaway joke, but instead it turns into one of the better songs ever written about BDSM. The apparent contradiction between Zevon’s music box guitar melody and schoolboy vocal with the sheer transgressive weirdness of the lyric (“I can see me bound and gagged / Dragged behind the clownmobile / You can treat me like a dog / If you make me feel what others feel”) echoes the tensions between what D/S partners do to each other and how tenderly these actions are negotiated. It becomes a song true both to its direct subject matter, and to the risks that come of putting yourself in someone else’s hands emotionally. The song is a joke, and it isn’t—at certain extremes of intensity, you may not know what you’re feeling, only that you are.
youtube
With the possible exception of his sainted 1976 self-titled effort, even the best of Zevon’s albums are warts-and-all affairs, and Life’ll Kill Ya has a couple of duds, like the pleasant-enough but seemingly endless “Fistful of Rain.” On balance though, it’s among his most consistent efforts, and the last great album he had the chance to cut. Warren has been a special artist to me since I discovered him in high school, and I can’t think of many I’ve spent more time with. Warren’s wounded, sardonic outlook was a good match for the way I saw the world at 17, but I also think it played a role in the way I gradually twisted into the person I am now, for good and ill. I’m glad that this later Zevon exists, because it shows how a person can deepen and grow, even as other bad habits persist—and how it’s possible to see both sides, and love them all the same.
BONUS: Selections from Zevon's later years

Various WWF Wrestlers x Fem Reader- "She's Faking It"
I need to say this...I've been talking with some people I'm friends with online about how I'm upset over seeing people online seemingly nostalgic over trashy 90's and early 2000's talk shows like Jerry Springer, Jenny Jones and Ricki Lake.
However...some of the fanfiction I've posted would be considered trashy and "too hot for TV".
______________________________________________________________
For decades, professional wrestling has been infamous for being "fake", so much so it's arguably the biggest reason professional wrestling has always been looked down upon for generations.
But one thing that's fake even though some people might not know isn't real is pornography.
What I mean by porn being fake is that women and men in porn's orgasms are fake.
The sex in porn might be real, but the orgasms are all fake.
And speaking of porn and wrestling, in the late 1990's, the World Wrestling Federation became increasingly more for adults rather than for kids like it was during the 80's and even the early to mid 1990's.
And the World Wrestling Federation in the late 1990's was reduced to pornography many times.
Because professional wrestling and porn are both fake, on a "Monday Night Raw" episode in November of 1998, there was one of those "coming up next" vignettes where the guitar riff to Slam Jam's "We're All Together Now" plays.
During that vignette, you were sitting on Val Venis' lap, where your back was in front of his torso.
You and Val were both topless in this segment, and you were pretending to ride up and down his penis.
However, you and Val were both filmed from above the waists.
Triple H, Christian and Jeff Hardy were all standing in front of you, where your hands were placed at Christian and Jeff's crotches and your hands looked like you were masturbating their penises.
However, you really weren't masturbating their dicks, their cocks weren't even hanging out of their tights.
Not to mention, you also looked like you were sucking on Triple H's dick while you pretended to jack off Christian and Jeff's dicks and ride on Val's lap, but again, Triple H's penis wasn't exposed in front of you.
Although, Trips' jeans were undone to make it really look like you're giving him a blowjob.
Christian and Triple H both had their long hair hanging down, although Christian in general usually always has his long hair hanging down.
Shawn Michaels and this jobber wrestler named Steve Dunn were squatting and crouching in front of your chest, where their heads were blocking and censoring your nipples and areolas being shown on television.
Shawn and Steve both looked like they were sucking your nipples, which was implied.
If you don't know who Steve Dunn is, he was a professional wrestler in the 1980's and 1990's who never really went anywhere, however, he did do a few jobber matches in the WWF during the late 1990's, including one tagteam match with the Hardy Boyz on "Shotgun Saturday Night" in 1998.
During this vignette, Shawn had his long hair hanging down and not tied back in a ponytail, and the same goes for Steve.
Triple H, Christian, and Jeff were being filmed from behind their backs while you sat on Val's lap pretending to ride him, whereas the backs of Shawn's and Steve's heads as well as their backs were filmed.
Shawn and Steve were going a very good job of blocking and censoring your nipples and areolas being shown on television by using the backs of their heads, although the fans are probably pissed they won't see some breasts.
You also had some fake precum on your face, the precum on your face was really just drips of baby oil on your face to make it look realistic.
Because porn is fake and so is the sex in this segment, you were moaning manically and faking your orgasm while your eyes were closed and your head sometimes arched back.
Not only that, Triple H's hands formed an "x" shape above his genitals, as his hands made that "x" shape above his crotch, he shoved and pushed his crotch forward closer to your face, where he exclaimed "suck it!" while his wrists crossed an "x" shape and he thrust his pelvis in front of you.
And suck it you literally did, where you leaned your face closer to his crotch and your face pretended to look like you were sucking on his penis.
The camera filmed Triple H behind his back so it would look like you were giving Triple H head and his penis wouldn't be exposed on television.
You moaned loudly with your mouth open before you implied to suck on Triple H's penis because when people say porn is fake, they mean people in porn are faking their orgasms.
And you can't really moan while having a dick in your mouth, it wouldn't be heard, especially when you have the guitar riff to Slam Jam's "We're All Together Now" blaring and nearly drowning your moans.
There have been many moments in the World Wrestling Federation---even the WWE---and other wrestling companies where the sex you have with other pro wrestlers is fake.
Like when you did a WWF commercial for a pay-per-view in the summer of 1998, where you pretended to ride on Triple H's dick and suck on Val Venis' cock, as well as when you've done moments where you're filmed behind your back and you're sitting on your knees with the back of your head covering Triple H's crotch and looking like you're giving him a blowjob, which is what was implied.
There are Chris Jericho-like lists of the fake sex you've had in professional wrestling, you've even had fake sex in movies and television shows.

Publisher: Aspyr  Developer: Aspyr
Tumblr media
EARLY DEVELOPMENT
In 2018, Realtech VR developed unauthorized remasters of the first three Tomb Raider titles for iOS, Android, and Windows, which were removed by then-franchise owner Square Enix. In 2022, after acquiring Tomb Raider among several other assets from Square Enix Europe, Embracer Group expressed interest in sequels, remakes, and remasters of established franchises, including Tomb Raider.
Tomb Raider I–III Remastered was revealed on 14 September 2023 during a Nintendo Direct and was announced to be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on 14 February 2024 (coinciding with the birthday of the series' main protagonist Lara Croft). It includes three expansion packs from the original trilogy: Unfinished Business, The Golden Mask, and The Lost Artefact. The game was developed and published by Embracer subsidiary Aspyr (who had previously ported the first six Tomb Raider games to macOS in the 2000s) in partnership with current series developer Crystal Dynamics. In January 2024, the developers promised that it would have "plenty more to share soon". In a 2024 interview, Aspyr has also expressed interest in making more Tomb Raider remasters in the future, including The Last Revelation and Chronicles.
Aspyr, having wanted to revisit the original Tomb Raider titles but always debated "the right approach", knew they would use the original source code and engine, allowing players to revert to the original look and feel for all three games. Director of product Chris Bashaar described Remastered as a love letter to all of their "memories of these games, but it's also truly fascinating to see how far hardware pushed in the '90s to make Tomb Raider work".
Timur "XProger" Gagiev, developer of the unofficial Tomb Raider open source engine OpenLara, was brought in to serve as technical director for the remaster, allowing him to "assemble a dream team of true fans" to work on the project, aided by "source code for [Tomb Raider's] Mac ports" provided by Aspyr. For the modern controller settings, the team took inspiration from Crystal Dynamics' first rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy: Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld. As a result, the way Lara controls in-game changes significantly; the player can rotate the camera with the right stick and the character's movement is direction-dependent based on camera position. However, the original tank controls are available to players via a menu toggle. The team added health bars for boss fights as the games' minimal UI can be considered "frustrating for tougher bosses with massive amounts of health", as well as replacing 2D sprites of in-game items with 3D models.
For the art of Remastered, Aspyr worked closely with Crystal Dynamics on modern art updates, such as "baked and real-time" lighting effects, graphics toggle, and adding new models, environments, and enemies. According to Crystal Dynamics, the team used an artificial intelligence program to upscale textures for the remaster. Bashaar further stated, "Our philosophy here was rather straightforward; we want the games to look the way they did in your mind. We knew we were on the right track in our early playtests because some playtesters didn't even know they were playing with the modern art toggled on."

Welcome to the second part of my Mario Movie Retrospective. Here's the first part if you're interested.
Super Mario Bros. (1993)
Tumblr media
This movie can be fun at times, and if nothing else, a testament that no matter how many things go wrong, you can still wind up with a piece of art that is charming in its own way to some people.
But like the tagline says, this ain’t no game. It has enough to make it bizarre on its own, but it gets even weirder when considering it in the context of the franchise’s history.
I first saw this movie in the early 2000’s, not 10 years after its release, and I remember being so confused. Why is Mario so gruff? Why doesn’t Luigi have a mustache? Why does everything look so dark?
Why are Mario and Luigi from the real world?
In the late 80’s/early 90’s, the franchise cemented that Mario and Luigi were plumbers from Brooklyn before stumbling into the Mushroom Kingdom. This is especially true in US-produced media like the DiC cartoons, the Mario Ice Capades, and Hotel Mario. I think this movie is the last thing to reference that before the 2023 one.
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island got released in 1995, which has it so that the brothers are born in the Mushroom Kingdom, and that’s the story many games afterward go with. Charles Martinet’s portrayal of the Mario Bros. forewent a Brooklyn accent entirely starting from 1996, becoming iconic soon after.
Mario’s image and premise changed drastically in a short window of time. If you’re like me and got into the series during Super Mario 64 or after, there’s a lot in previous portrayals of Mario and Luigi that feel foreign. People my age and younger can be a little unfair to this movie for that reason. It’s something I always found grating.
Besides, there’s enough to criticize as it is. I can still see the cartoons as Mario-related. Even if I was a kid who grew up on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, I’d still be deeply confused if I went into “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and got hit with a loredump about evolution and parallel universes.
As you might recall from last time, each Mario Movie faces a dilemma: How to stretch such a simple premise to movie length without adding so much that it feels divorced from the source material? How to balance making it a movie and making it Mario?
The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach focused more on the Mario. Sure, it had Mario and Luigi go on a mandatory treasure hunt for power ups, but even then, that movie had to throw in walking montages to make it to an hour.
The live action movie focused more on the movie. And its relationship with the source material? They see each other from time to time, but, well… someone’s paying alimony. The movie wasn’t always meant to stray so far, judging by the earlier scripts, but it changed so many hands on the way to completion that things got lost, rewritten, or outright ignored.
There’s a lot to cover when talking about this movie. It’s a little more character-focused than the previous one, so let’s start with the cast.
Mario - This Mario has no time to dream or think about what-ifs. He’s a plumber; he’s got work to do and bills to pay. A cautious man, getting thrust into adventure is not his idea of a good time. Though he calls Luigi his brother, he found him as a baby and raised him, so he’s more like Luigi’s father (-figure.) I find it interesting that though Mario had no official personality at this point, both The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach and the cartoons went with more optimistic, determined portrayals that share a lot with how he’s depicted now. This may be the only version to deviate from that.
Luigi - He’s a young, starry-eyed dreamer who wants to believe there’s something more to the world than meets the eye, like parallel dimensions, aliens, and so on. He’s endearingly awkward at times and becomes lovestruck with Daisy at first sight. Extremely impulsive, he’s neither the brightest nor the strongest, but he has heart. Also, he is a gamer. This Luigi just so happens to be the protagonist. …Is anyone else getting deja vu?
Daisy - Not yet known as Peach in the US, the writers must’ve felt Toadstool wasn’t the most charming name for a love interest, nor realistic. This version is raised in the real world, after all. Luckily for them, someone along the way discovered that a Princess Daisy existed, which was kind of a deep cut at the time; she wasn’t really an established character yet. In this movie, Daisy is a passionate archeologist, feeling a connection to dinosaur bones. The kind of girl who takes her date to a dig site. While she does spend a chunk of the movie in peril, she’s shown to be willing to stand up for herself and resourceful enough to eventually escape capture. Fun Fact(?): Allegedly, she has a character arc that was completely cut from the theatrical release. The extended cut is available, but I’m only focusing on the theatrical version because it’s what most people have seen.
Koopa - This human version of Koopa/Bowser lacks the brute force of others and is instead more conniving. He reigns over the perpetually exploding Dinohattan. He’s also very concerned with germs. His motivation is closely tied with the movie’s plot, so bear with me. When the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs hit, it did not kill the dinosaurs, it just threw them and some fungus into an alternate dimension where they evolved into humanoids. Stay with me. A kingdom developed in this dimension before being taken over by Koopa around the time of Daisy’s birth. He used a machine to de-evolve her father into fungus. Daisy’s mother flees through the dimensional portal into New York, leaving her with some nuns before going back, only to be killed by Koopa. She left a necklace with Daisy containing a meteor shard, which will merge both dimensions back into one when placed back into the meteor. Koopa wants to merge both dimensions because the dino dimension has much less natural resources than the real world, and they’re not doing well. Also, he wants to turn humans into monkeys and rule both worlds. He sends some henchmen to kidnap Daisy in order to get the necklace back, but also because she’s the only one who can insert it into the rest of the meteor. Mario and Luigi end up taking the necklace, which is why he hates them.
Toad - A musician protesting Koopa’s reign, spreading rumors that the fungus infesting the city is the true king. He’s arrested along with Mario and Luigi before being forcefully devolved into a Goomba and placed into servitude. Despite this, he retains his morals (and harmonica) and helps the protagonists.
Iggy and Spike - Koopa’s bumbling henchmen. He gets so fed up with them that he reverses the settings on his de-evolution machine to evolve them into smarter beings. This only results in them saying big words. They switch alliances off screen since the scene that shows them doing so got cut. All of their lines go on for too long, leaving their comedic bits falling flat.
Yoshi - Koopa’s pet who ends up helping Daisy after she shows him kindness. The practical effects make him look like a tinier version of the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park. He’s kinda cute in an ugly way.
Lena - Koopa’s girlfriend/wife/main henchwoman? Her jealousy of Daisy makes her go to the extreme in order to win back Koopa’s attention. At least I think that’s what her motivation is? She keeps talking about “what I deserve,” but never elaborates on what that means.
Big Bertha - Not a fish. Instead, she’s a club bouncer who steals the meteor necklace from Mario and Luigi with the help of her jumping boots. Mario woos her in order to steal the necklace, then ditches her in the middle of their dance. She ends up helping the brothers afterwards. Why? Good question.
Daniella - Mario’s girlfriend. She and a few other women get kidnapped by Iggy and Spike, being mistaken for Daisy. Her actress looks a little like how Nintendo would later redesign Pauline from Donkey Kong, which I think is interesting.
As hinted at in Luigi’s description, he’s a lot like the previous movie’s Mario in his determination. The same is true with this Mario and the previous Luigi being the more practical ones. These traits are amped up in the live action movie characters. But while Luigi is the protagonist, Mario’s worldview sets the tone. The alternate dimension Luigi dreamed of–the main setting–is just a worse version of where they already live: a crowded city rife with crime and corruption.
Now, I originally wrote some stuff about Luigi’s idealism and Mario’s world weariness butting heads and how it represents the older characters vs. the younger characters in this movie. Something-something about fighting the power and believing in yourself. That didn’t quite hold up after a rewatch.
Mario’s willing to stick up for himself and anyone who he feels needs it (meanwhile, Luigi tries to sell him out to the cops.) His and Luigi’s conflict comes from Mario not believing hard enough. Nothing is impossible; that’s Luigi’s motto and the movie’s. He believes fungus is telling him to use bombs, he’ll jump off a cliff so long as he believes it’ll be okay, and he’s right every time.
Undermining this conflict is the fact that Mario will also do things at random. What’s his plan for sneaking back into Koopa’s tower? Turn off the heating system, steal some clothes, ???, profit!
This is an overarching issue in the writing: Everyone just kinda does stuff for no reason, conveniently moving the plot to where it needs to be. Characters’ alliances change between scenes. Important items appear and disappear at whim. Some of this is due to scenes that were cut, but others are unexplained. It leaves the movie feeling like it’s falling apart after the first hour.
Another writing issue is that the movie treats lines that make no sense like the hardest one-liners ever dropped. “You know what I love about mud? It’s clean and it’s dirty at the same time.” –Koopa, 1993. Cool, what does that mean?
There’s bright spots in the writing, though. It can have fun with itself, leading to jokes I enjoy, like the reveal of Mario and Luigi’s last name, the elevator scene, and some visual gags.
Everyone in charge of the visuals–the practical effects, CGI, costume, and makeup artists–did a fantastic job bringing the settings to life, even if they’re not what anyone would expect from the title.
The music score is surprisingly full of wonder, but something I noticed when listening to this soundtrack vs. The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach’s is that the latter was filled with arrangements of songs from the game. The live action movie plays the Super Mario Bros. theme for exactly 20 seconds, and that’s it. That sums up the difference between these two movies better than I can.
The only things in this movie that feel vaguely Mario-esque in vibes are the lighthearted elements that feel necessary to make it suitable for a child audience. Otherwise, it’s too dark, gungy, and horny to match the series. Toad is lobotomized and enslaved. Daisy’s dad is a diseased-looking mass of fungus and slime. Mario dives into Big Bertha's chest like he’s bobbing for apples.
When the movie does want to reference the games, easter eggs are prioritized over recognizability. Enemy names are in the background if you squint, yet Luigi wears red more often than green. There’s no powerups, but Miyamoto’s in a crowd shot, so I’ve heard. It feels like missing the forest for a blade of grass. Though focusing on recognizability won’t fix much, at least viewers will know they’re watching the right movie.
As it stands, we’re left with a Mario movie where the main characters don’t wear overalls and the villain is only a monster in the figurative sense. Nowhere are the blue skies and rolling hills of the Mushroom Kingdom. Instead, we go from New York City to… dystopian New York City. Toad’s some guy with a guitar.
This movie might be received better if it scrubbed the references and called itself “Directionless in Dinohattan” or something. I can see how people would get a kick out of it, even if it’s held together by duct tape and dreams. The thing that holds it back most is its disinterest in being Mario-related while shambling around in Mario’s skin. Like the Ice Capades costumes.
Tumblr media
People with skill worked on this movie. There’s heart somewhere, regardless of whether it’s in the right place or not. The choices it makes are so baffling it makes sense to be a little fascinated. For those who want to enjoy the chaos, pick it apart, or just gawk at the weirdness, there’s something for different types of people. All of this gives it the makings of a cult classic.
Also, heads up if you do end up checking it out, Koopa is a real creep to Daisy. He tries to force a kiss on her and implies that he’s going to do something way worse later on. So if you’re sensitive to attempted/implied SA, skip a few minutes ahead after Yoshi’s first appearance. Didn’t think I’d have to warn for that in a Mario movie, but this one is committed to proving that nothing is impossible.
Here's some other stuff I have to say about the movie that I couldn't fit here or in the tags.
Next are my thoughts on Super Mario Bros. (2023).

Ringu (1998) Review
Tumblr media
Following along with the subject of Japanese Horror Films of the 1990’s and 2000’s, the film I will be focusing on in this assignment is Ringu (1998) by Hideo Nakata. This production fits the criteria perfectly of what a J-Horror film consisted of during its boom in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. A physiological aspect of a vengeful spirit haunting on characters throughout the entirety of the film. That spirit in this film is the spirit of Sadako.
The film begins with two people talking about a legend of watching a tape that will curse you to die a week later following a phone call. One of the characters, Tomoko, says she had watched a weird video a week prior and had received a phone call following. When Masami, the person with Tomoko, leaves and comes back to see Tomoko killed. Quickly it is found out by Tomoko’s aunt, Reiko, that the other girls that had watched the film with Tomoko had also died at the same exact time. Wanting to discover more, Reiko finds the tape and watches it herself then gets the strange phone call. Reiko then goes to her ex-husband, Ryuji, for help, and he too watches the tape, with their child Yoichi getting a glimpse of it as well. The ex-couple look deeper into the film and realize they have to go to Oshima to try and break the curse. Upon their mission, they find out information about Sadako, the daughter of Shizuko who killed herself following a demonstration of her physic, sixth sense, ability. After traveling to a well, Reiko and Ryuji learn that Sadako was pushed into it and trapped. She died physically, however, remained alive through this curse of the tape of her being tortured. Back home shortly after, we find out how the curse really works as Ryuji is killed as the spirit spills out from the TV and kills him, but nothing has happened to Reiko. The way to stop the curse is copying the tap and showing it to someone else. The film concludes with Reiko remembering her young child had seen the film right before they left for Oshima and rushes to save Yoichi.
The scenes showing the well where Sadako was tortured and eventually murdered perfectly depict how well Ringu was shot and directed by Hideo Nakata. The images shown of the well originally are extremely eerie and unsettling before the audience even discovers the significance of it. Nakata uses a long shot to build the unsettlement as the camera is fixated on the well alone in a big field. Then later in the film, that same well is shown once again, except this time Sadako comes out of it. Not only is this scene scary, it is genius as well. The shot earlier in the film that stayed on the well for a long amount of time had Sadako in it the whole time and could have popped out at any moment. The scene of Sadako creeping out towards the end is familiar to the audience because Nakata made sure everyone would remember the well.

This wasn't originally intended as a Sex and the City post, but it will now become one. The other day I was walking through Value Village, and thats kinda my thing on the weekends. I have a routine during the colder months, that gets thrown off when summer rolls through Toronto.
But anyways, I was walking through Value Village, and I have been looking to expand my DVD collection. I was an early 2000's kid that used to go to Blockbuster and Pacific Mall. I used to go to one to rent, the other one to purchase cheap quality DVD's. I remember the quality of the DVD was awful, but the covers were even worse. Half the time it looked like it was printed by someone in their garage.
I was thinking to go online to purchase some DVD's, but then my BF told me of the large selection that Value Village has. So I went the first time with him over a year ago to VV for to hunt down some good DVD's. Last week though, I had the most amazing find, which I think was a casual sign from g-d.
What I found was the entire Sex and the City series in a felt book, with episode descriptors, pictures of the cast and more. So I was walking through VV, I saw it, and I bought it. For a total of $6.27, I own the entire series of Sex and the City (thats like $1 a season LOL). But I love the felt cover the discs came in, and I love the plastic that it comes in.
Now lets talk about the rainbow elephant in the room. I am not a religious person, but I do believe in signs from a higher power. So one day I sat down to create the Rainbow Investments blog. The idea was to help people who have felt left out of the Real Estate Industry because they are members of the LGBTQ+ Community. I have not watched the entire Sex and the City series, but I guess I have become Carrie in some weird way.
I live in Downtown Toronto, I blog about Real Estate, I am doing it at my desk looking out at the world, I am doing it all on my Macbook or Ipad, and I am trying to figure out all the other things that adults are supposed to do. I guess I have a little pep in my step knowing that I am kinda living out some sort of 90's TV Show Fantasy.
Let's See how This Goes
Signed

Fan Fiction Writers Questions that I have been asked and had answered so far
What’s your favorite character(s) to write for?
I started to get into writing again and for Sebastian Stan. If it’s Bucky/Sebastian Stan-related, I’ve only been able to two for them (Birthday Girl and Rock Star). I have them posted up on my Tumblr page and I’ll share the links for them as well. Starting to enjoy writing for him and some of his various movie characters. In the past, actor wise I’ve written for Orlando Bloom, some for his other movie roles, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz (I was a huge Twilight fan when the movies were out).
8. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered stories?
When I was younger (20 moons ago lol) back during the early 2000’s when I was working in retail, in college for my first unfinished college degree, I had the energy wasn’t tired, I loved writing multi-chaptered stories. My old Orlando Bloom ones got tons of feedback when I was in Yahoo Orlando Bloom fan groups These days, it seems I am lucky if I can find some time where I can work on and write a one-shot.
12. Who is your favorite author?
Hmm tough question, I have a lot. In my teens, I loved Johanna Lindsey, I often bought her books. I later got into more erotic romances by Susan Johnson and Robin Schone. In my twenties, I liked Allison Brennan Mystery, Thriller, and Romance. Lately, I’ve been reading Sadie Kincaid’s books. Her new book in the LA Ruthless series just came out on June 3rd. I also like Lindsey Powell, Amber Adams, Fiona Cole, and Nicole Snow. My list often grows because of author’s books popping up in my Facebook feed. I sometimes will share in my Tumblr posts about books I just finished reading or what are some of my favorites that aren’t exactly erotic-related romance.
15. What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of?
Well, if you can consider a movie script a form of fanfic, I would say my first movie script called Shattered I wrote in May 2007. I wrote that after I had just gotten out of an abusive relationship/engagement it helped me heal and find some closure. It didn’t hurt that seeing Pirates of the Caribbean 3, 9 times either helped with how fast I was writing it. It was the first piece of my work that I actually got registered with the Writers Guild Of America (WGA) in March 2015 and actually sent to Kellan Lutz to read as a 30th birthday gift. It also was a way of saying thanks for commenting me that I was vocal, and he liked that about me, giving me courage to get brave enough finally do that. After doing that, I wouldn’t rule out trying to write something for Sebastian Stan.
29. What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most? (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, etc)
It’s probably got to be Brainstorming. I don’t think my brain ever sleeps or takes a break from wanting to be creative. I can get ideas at the most random times or most random of places. I wish I could just be able to write the story in my head alone since it can play out like a movie preview. I also have a bit too much fun when I get into research.
Do you have any WIPs that you would never let see the light of day? If yes, what are they about?
Yes, and even some finished ones that I would not ever let see the light of day again (thankfully, the websites that were hosting the stories have been taken down as well, lol). Before, I explain I will mention that this was during the mid-late 90’s and into early-mid 00’s when I was in high school and my first three years in college before I switched majors and was in my early 20’s (I’m 40 right now). When I use to be a Backstreet Boys fan, I use to write fan fiction and smutty one-shots about them. Believe me, I’ve embarrassed myself in front of Nick Carter a handful of times on more than one occasion, that’s another story for another day. My story plots and way of writing was embarrassing, (it didn’t help that I went to a Private Christian School as well 6-12th grade, I think I started to become corrupt when I turned 13, believe me another story for another day lol) it mostly was like Mary Sue styled writing.
My smut wasn’t as good as it is now, now I can really get into more detail and descriptions. I’m not against co-writing, but there were one or two I co-wrote with a few authors, their style and direction they wanted to take the story made it suck. One was lost when a virus affected that computer, we had to throw it out, other I believe I did delete it, so it would never once again see the light of day. Would I ever let those WIP see the light of day again, very likely, only after I re-edited the hell out of them and probably re-wrote in into new story characters with more details and a believable plot. At least now there is a good handful of actors/actresses I don’t mind writing for that I can develop a plot of a story or rewrite one of those works for.
Who is one character you haven’t yet written for that you would like to?
Wow, I am gonna say that there are a few and it’s for two actors. For Sebastian Stan characters/roles I haven’t written for yet that I would like to would be Nick Fowler, Carter Baizen, Chase Collins, T.J. Hammond, and Jack Benjamin. Then for Henry Cavill it would be Geralt of Rivia. The only problem is that I would first need to take a weekend or two off from work so I can binge-watch these movies/shows and get a temporary subscription to Netflix so that I can access one of the shows. I unfortunately still haven’t seen or fully watched any of these movies. They are on my list of things to do though that is slowly being checked off as I complete them.
4. Do you have writing habits or rituals?
Ritual-wise, I’ll do research if I need to for sections of my story. Sometimes I may go a bit overboard with that. I’ll have a picture with me if I want to think of the character(s) in a certain way. I play music sometimes that goes with the mood of the story, if a certain movie inspires me to have a writing idea let alone to write, I’ll watch that movie on repeat in the background while I’m writing. I can’t explain this, but for some strange reason, the notebook that I am writing in must be a 5-subject 5-star notebook, I just like how the paper is fresh, firm, and crisp along with a certain 5 lead model type machinal pencil.
8. Favorite trope to write.
I do like AU I’ve written Crime/Murder/Thriller before for movie scripts, Enemies to Lovers, Friends to Lovers, Arranged Marriages, Pacts and Deals, and Strong Female Characters. Rather it’s a Domestic Violence or Sexual Assault Survivor. She Doesn’t Let Any Men Violate Her Personal Boundaries. A little bit of Alpha Male but respects Female Character treats her like an equal. I do like Romantic, Erotic, and Smutty. I have a feeling the list might grow, that’s what I have down for now.
9. Least favorite trope to write.
Don’t kill the Fan Fic Writer, this is my honest answer. So, there is more than one that I Won’t Ever Write For. This is based mainly on the fact that I chose to be child-free and never have children, plus not everyone wants children and because I am a Domestic Violence Survivor and have been placed in the situation where I was almost at coercive reproduction with my Ex-Fiancé also likely plays into this. It’s Breeding Kink. The male character is so obsessed with knocking up the female character and has a Baby Fever/Baby Bump Fetish. Not every reader has dreams or fantasies where they want to be bred and knotted and knocked up. I just feel like the Alpha/Beta/Omega trope has been overdone. It just makes it sound like the female character is only there for the male character’s sexual enjoyment use of her body and the male ego of using her as a reproductive sexual objective item. Hey, this could only be me who thinks or feels like this. Some have been good, and I don’t mind reading, to me it’s not a turn-on. Then there is the Non-Consent trope along with choking, slapping, hitting, and degrading types of violent sex. It’s not exactly easy to write about Sexual Assault, let alone at times about Domestic Violence. I think maybe because it just brings back traumatic memories from when I was there in that position and that was a moment of opportunity for the abuser to kill me or any victim for that matter. Often during pregnancies Domestic Abuse becomes worse and worsens, it’s a higher risk and chance that the pregnant abuse victim will or can be killed. It’s like you have No Boundaries or any Personal Boundaries Are Respected. That I feel and am safe while sort of in a vulnerable position. I hope that answer makes sense.

SAM!
Spotify Playlist or YouTube Playlist
Tumblr media
Sam! Thanks for (hopefully) agreeing to be one of my groomsmen! To celebrate, I made you a lil' playlist of songs from artists we've seen, will see, anddd others from the 90s that made me think of Cait! Enjoy!
Summer Friends — City wide, city wide, city wide (specifically remember handing you the 4Hands beer and you singing this)
You and Me on the Rock — September 9!
Big Parade — Gonna feel like a dummy if it was a different Lumineers song, but your first wedding dance song!
Surprise Yourself — Gotta pay tribute to the one man band of Jack Garratt and his Excel jokes/ridicule?
Sleepyhead — A tribute to Cait loving Passion Pit
The Bk Lounge — Like it or not, the Ferrell siblings listened to a great deal of Dane Cook in the early 2000s...this one's still kinda funny, though? Maybe? Cheese? Pickles?? Extra pickley pickles??
The High Road — If we had Spotify in 2010 I think this would've been Cait's most-played song
Just Another Name — Lifehouse!! I have a long lost memory of Cait and I listening to this and her picking it for a St. Joe's retreat mix CD (a sentence that epitomizes the 2000s catholic high school experience)
Wonderboy — High above the mucky muck, castle made of clouds!! On a real streak of songs for Cait instead of you 😬
Walking in Memphis — But to break the streak, a song not for Cait, but for Kevin Ferrell
U (Man Like) — I think 22, A Million is actually your favorite Bon Iver album, but damn, this one's also a keeper
MMMBop — I don't have a specific memory for this one, but I LOVED me some MMMBop in 1997 and I think Cait was right there with me in that boat
I'll Tumble 4 Ya — *Billy Madison dancing down the staircase*
Are You That Somebody — Cait and I learned Aaliyah's dance to this from a how-to VHS tape. A wonderful time in our lives
Super Rich Kids — I have a vivid memory of you and Cait putting this on during a car ride to a Ferrell family Christmas or something of the sort. And rightfully so because it's a JAM!
Fighting / Background Music — Maybe the Ferrells' favorite comedy clip of the 90s. If not this, then Kerpal prank calling someone about kicking his dog
Love Shack — Cait and Mike's first karaoke duet! (in Cancún with their parents)
Canned Heat — Cait, do you remember watching Napoleon Dynamite in the Waterman basement and having no idea what was happening? And then immediately loving the movie after Napoleon's Canned Heat dance? (another great movie to use this ploy: Little Miss Sunshine)
22 (OVER S∞∞N) — My favorite from your favorite album. I'm seeing him in a few days! (as of this writing; hopefully he was awesome)
Angels — Eric's song, but I love thinking about it and him going for it at your wedding!
Bachelor Party Info!
