But to answer your question: Yes, I absolutely have considered the idea of Aki coming face to face with the Black Rose Witch and being forced to confront her own past in a very literal way. The problem with this scenario is mainly one: Logistics. Seeing as Aki can hardly physically split herself in two, making this possible would require supernatural shenanigans of some kind, if you ask me. And sure, 5Ds has plenty of those, but what to use? Time travel? (High potential to shoot yourself in the foot.) A sort of supernatural test of willpower? (Okay, sure, but where, why, and how?) Try to keep it simple, say it's just a nightmare and all in Aki's head? (Possible, but pretty basic.) Say Iliaster creates another signer double, and Aki has to take it down same as Jack took down his? (Runs the risk of being a rehash of the fake Jack episodes, unfortunately.)

Depending on how they're written, I don't necessarily think any of these options are better or worse than the other, and I agree, the opportunity to have Aki literally confront herself would have been great. As far as my own writing is concerned, my main issue, personally, would be where the hell to slot this into canon. Because writing it just as-is, with zero context and no place on the canon timeline, isn't my style. Therefore, I'd have to find a spot for this, and ideally give it some kind of nice payoff, too. And the way my Aki stuff is going right now, especially with the next, big fic I'm currently working on, I'm not sure I could fit this in anywhere. (At least not without making things seem really, really bloated in terms of plot threads and tension.)

That said, I have thought about it before, and may yet think more about it in the future. So I'm not categorically denying I'll ever write this. I'd just love to place it somewhere where it makes sense and haven't found that spot (nor the best way to execute this scenario) just yet.

Kinda weird but what’s the story behind you winning a war against the university of Waterloo on r/place?

ohhh man it like...over a year ago at this point, but lemme see what I can remember

so, I wasn't around for the first r/place. i mean, I was alive for it, but I wasn't in the right circles to have an interest in participating. but i still thought it was cool. so when the second one rolled around, i was super excited to join.

now, at the time, most of the fandoms/groups i was in were well-equipped to handle themselves, so while i could join those causes, it didn't feel like I needed to be there. but then i learned that one of my favourite twitch streamers, DumbDog, was organizing to put him and his friends (chiblee, HCJustin) on the map. Nothing big. Maybe a total of like, 50x15 pixels. But as a smaller community, they definitely needed all the help they could get.

So for a while, it was the typical r/place experience. You get a picture down, one or two pixels get griefed, and you fix it. At one point, the logo for the NY Jets popped up to our right, and we became fast friends. Anytime they started losing ground, we'd charge in with reinforcements.

And then the universities showed up. On our left, in a cute little row, four crests came into being: University of British Colombia, University of Alberta, McMaster University, and University of Toronto. They slot in perfectly next to our spot. It was serendipitous.

Except apparently, the University of Waterloo disagreed. See, they wanted to go next to their buddies. But that would mean covering up part of our claim. And sure, we could keep trying to fend them off, but the problem with most of the Twitch graphics on r/place was that the audience was only engaged while the streamer was live. Once they logged off, most people jumped to another community.

But here's the thing.

r/place happened in April.

And by a stroke of luck, DumbDog happened to be in the middle of a subathon.

DumbDog was live 24 hours a day.

Our community was NON-STOP. Already invigorated by the idea of passing milestones, hitting subgoals, and making our streamer do silly bits, we were relentless in our defense. We had spies infiltrate the Universities' discord, and whenever they tried to coordinate a big takeover, we shut them down.

(funnily enough, I don't think we ever revealed ourselves. to this day, I think they blame UofT for everything)

In the end, UWaterloo had to take the L and moved themselves down. They looked very silly, being out of alignment from the other crests.

And at the very end, when the white void was consuming the canvas, you can bet your ass we vanished them in an instant.

Can we see your oldest bear?

Debby was the oldest known polar bear to ever live. She was born in Russia in 1966 and passed away on November 17, 2008 in the at the age of 41 (or 42, since no one know exactly when this queen was born).

And don't forget Brownie, the absolute legend of a grizzly bear who was at least 56 years old (again, no one knows when he was born) when he had to be euthanized in 2009 due to failing health. Unfortunately the team was unable to locate a verifiable photo of this utter king.

Some facts about the ro's, please? or anything you can share!

Thank you for asking anon! Unfortunately, I'm terrible at summoning facts lol. I read facts and suddenly I forget everything ever about my characters. But I'll do my best!

Chartres may be the only main character that is a historical figure, he's still heavily fictionalized for the sake of the story. Some bits are accurate, however, like his interest in arts. He composed several operas in collaboration with a couple of composers.

The Peyrolles I write has little in common with the one from the book which I find rather bland. But they're very heavily influenced by the Peyrolles from the 1960s tv series Lagardère, with his quiet and stoic demeanor.

Aurore's daughter, in the book, is also named Aurore which can create a lot of confusion as you can imagine. In several adaptations, they kept the daughter as Aurore and changed the mother's name to Blanche. I decided to go the other way around and kept the mother as Aurore since her role would be more significant in my story, and changed her daughter's name to Inès, which was Aurore's mother's name. I don't care for Blanche as a name and it made sense to me that Aurore would want to honor her mother.

Nevers didn't have much of a character in the book, which makes sense since he's only there to die right at the beginning. So I had pretty much free reign with his character and decided to indulge. Yes I tried to make him as likable as possible so it would hurt when he dies, sorryyyyyyy. (I'll be the first one to be in pain, if it makes it any better.)

Gonzague is a lot more evil in the book than how I'm writing them. BUT. To my surprise, when I started re-reading the book, I discovered that the roots of what I'm trying to accomplish with them were already there. There's a passage that says Gonzague didn't really regret any of the terrible things he did, but he may have become trapped on the slippery slope of crime. When you start committing horrible things, you find yourself having the commit more and more to cover up the rest.

What's the story behind your username?

Honestly? It was a combination of wanting to go for a less weeaboo name and YET wanting something to honor one of my interests in a round-about way. It was something I came up with back in my Gaia Online days. I always liked the name Liccy, since LIC are my actual initials and Roald Dahl was a big influence to me growing up. Also, in my head, I pronounce it as "Lih-See" which is close to Lizzie (the nickname given to me by those who cannot pronounce my actual name.)

do you ever think that joker's character would be hated less if harley was never created? dont get me wrong i love her, its just that her inclusion in the first place was for joker to beat the gay allegations and the abuse isnt rlly fun imo. whining about this is kinda pointless since we cant change the past but i just wanted to hear how you feel about this topic

Mm. This is a bit complicated. I know that it's a popular belief, the idea Harley Quinn was created to make Joker appear less queer, but that's not entirely rooted in fact. Not saying this motivation didn't play a role at all, but if you read up on Harley's origins, some writers involved were against her becoming a regular character on BTAS because it would humanize Joker too much to have a love interest; that was a significant concern. When introducing her to main comic continuity, Dini specifically had Joker be as dark and murderous towards her from the start, and this persisted in most comics featuring them afterwards.

It's not Harley's sheer existence that contributed to the hatred for Joker's character in recent times, in my opinion. It's three combined factors: her redemption arc for the past decade or so, Joker's abusiveness towards her, and the fact she was given a female love interest in Poison Ivy (which turned her into explicit queer representation). The draw of Harlivy as a ship and of Harley being depicted as an abused woman standing up for herself was understandably massive, for a big segment of fandom. And unfortunately, many were eager to forget about Harley's past crimes and choices because of this; after all, it's not difficult to just blame Joker for all the "evil" parts of Harley in order to justify her actions. Joker undoubtedly had a big influence, but it really takes away from her character if her agency is denied entirely (I do hate this recent cross-fandom tendency to take conflicted darker characters and sanitize them). And there is something to be said about Joker being written as a one-dimensional abusive asshole, in order to uplift Harley's character arc and make her triumphs over him more impactful. It is a pity... while I can't say I am a fan of Harley, I find her interesting, and her relationship with Joker has some fascinating aspects to it that get downplayed and ignored in this wave of oversimplification. The main reason she stayed with him was because she thought there was humanity to him, and that she could be the one to bring it out. The tragedy of it, of course, is that she's not wrong-- it's simply that Joker is pretty much incapable of seeing anyone other than Batman as an equal and a fellow human being. Joker does care about her in his own twisted way, but as an extension of himself; a possession, something he created. He also treats her as an extension of himself, which is to say... badly. Because despite how contradictory it might seem at first glance, Joker is suicidal and self-loathing.

Anyway, an analysis of Jarley isn't the point of this :)) To make a long story short, it's true that Harley never being created would've led to none of this happening... but thing is, I do think a female sidekick was inevitable. If they didn't give Joker Harley Quinn, they would've come up with a different character like her eventually, and then who knows where that would've gone. And even if you try to imagine a world with Joker having no one like Harley in his story... the current hatred towards Joker in Tumblr and Twitter circles is quite intertwined with the rise of purity culture and with Joker fatigue (due to DC's overuse of him). Joker as a villain is associated with alpha male toxicity and the whole "we live in a society" mindset, which instantly makes fans on this side of the fence wary; although, even leaving aside the fact Joker has killed countless people in canon, it's more that he shot Barbara Gordon and killed Jason Todd that gets him the biggest amount of hatred. Of course that his abuse towards Harley plays a big part as well, but personally, I don't think it's the main cause. Batman has so many villains, but few of them have harmed Bruce and his Family as personally as Joker has. Seeing as the fandom for the Batfamily is the biggest one, it's not surprising that Joker is disliked within it. (Which is perfectly fine. Issues only arise when fans don't make the distinction between reality and fiction and begin to harass each other over make-pretend non-existent people.)

I just finished reading all your Aki fics, including the To Be of Use. Small curiosity question about what is or isn't known in your little AU here. Aki figured out she her powers can heal people. Did I miss her informing others that she can do this? I can totally see it being an off-screen conversation, but I wasn't sure if maybe you were holding off on having her talk about it with someone in a later fic.

You did not miss it! It was meant to be an off-screen thing. And actually, it's a good thing that you ask, because the extent of the information the others have has now, in the plotting stage, actually turned out to be relevant to the WIP fic I'm working on right now. So the extent of the others' knowledge is this: Aki mentioned that she has the power variation that allows her to heal people and that she's testing what those powers can actually do now. But because she doesn't want to injure herself or anyone else on purpose for this (duh), she hasn't healed anything bigger than like, small cuts or the occasional burn yet.
