In many ways, the home of the Holy Family was the first Christian monastery with perpetual Adoration which lasted 30 years! • St. Peter Julian Eymard wrote an amazing book called “The Month of St. Joseph” that offers incredible insights on St. Joseph’s life of prayer and adoration. It’s a masterpiece. Here’s an excerpt: • “Saint Joseph was the first adorer, the first religious...From his [Jesus’] entry into the world, even while still enclosed in Mary’s womb as in a living ciborium, Jesus singled out Mary and Joseph to be his adorers . Joseph responded royally. He never ceased adoring Jesus in her womb. And after the child’s birth at Bethlehem, Joseph and Mary adored him uninterruptedly as he lay before their eyes. They represented all mankind at the feet of Christ. Those who are married know this to be true. Marriage is not easy. It begins with a honeymoon and will be filled with many hardships, difficulties, and trials. For a marriage to work, mutual love, sacrifice, and faithfulness are necessary. A Christian relationship with God is a spiritual marriage. It too, requires mutual love, sacrifice, and faithfulness. Those who are espoused to God need to be faithful in good times and in bad, in health and in plague, in riches and in poverty. St. Joseph was always faithful to his wife and to God. It’s how he’s usually referred to most. And it’s often the most underscored title because of the way our generation views marriage. Somehow it seems demeaning to be referred to in such a way as though he’s second to his wife. At least that’s how most people I’ve spoken to see it. But that’s not how God sees it. It’s not how Jesus saw it. The world will tell you a man must lead his wife. She should be his, like a possession to be bought with a dowry. But Joseph tells us this is not the way. A man of virtue will truly see his wife as she is, a crown upon his head. He will adore her and exalt her even above his own head. He will unite himself to her mission. Like the kings and queens of old, he will sacrifice everything he is to protect the Crown. He will become her servant, even unto death, to protect her virtues and ensure she lives forever to protect and guide the people united under her. As the Son of David, Joseph knew the ways of royalty. He made himself King to His Queen. God made him spouse to the Crown of Heaven. • St. Joseph, spouse of the Mother of God, pray for us. Guide us in the supernatural ways of royalty. IT 👏🏽 STARTS 👏🏽 AT 👏🏽 HOME 👏🏽 — Recognize, families, that you are your children's first and most important catechists and teachers of the Faith. You've heard it said, children are like sponges 🧽 and they soak in all that they hear and see. So, if they see and hear you cussing, yelling, and fighting, guess what they're gonna grow up to do? But if they see you praying persistently, speaking, and acting with charity, reading Scripture, going to Mass, etc, guess what they're gonna most likely do? — Most especially you, fathers and heads of your households, YOU are the ultimate catechist and teacher. Studies and statistics all say that if the father isn't present in the children's lives, and if he is but doesn't go to church, the children will have a great difficulty practicing the Faith nor become virtuous adults. They will grow up troubled and with relationship problems of all kinds. — That is why we started this page, to help couples and families recognize the importance of prayer in the home. We ourselves grew up in homes where God was almost inexistent, most especially prayer and Mass attendance. — So, father and mother, PRAY 👏🏽 AT 👏🏽 HOME 👏🏽. Make it a priority to start praying as a couple AND as a family. We schedule 📆 everything in our lives, what time ⏰ we wake up, what time we head out the door, our lunch time, our time to head home... our life is full of schedules, times set aside to fulfill a task, but when was the last time you penciled in prayer 🙏🏽 time with your spouse??? — This is the greatest of all tasks to fulfill! Our whole vocation in marriage 👩‍❤️‍👨 calls us to praise God with our whole being, the moment our marriage is consecrated to God, it does not end! We must renew this consecration regularly through our prayers. — I know it's what we don't wanna hear, especially with children, but let us not be fixated on a "Date Night" 🕯️🍽️🕯️ if we haven't figured out a prayer time. Unless your date includes Mass or Adoration, it won't be satisfying. — NOTHING can fix all the struggles in a marriage like praying together. Washing dishes and growing in virtue?! 🤔 Can you even imagine such a thing? ••• I have to admit that the dishes were never the most exciting part of the day. I would always think of how many prayers I could have been saying in front of our home altar, or at Adoration, and it would make me irritated that the dishes would pile up. I remember even having minimalists tell me to donate the dishes and save myself some time! They didn't understand that I had to conquer my dishes to conquer my own selfish appetite. Doing the dishes is a service of #Love, just as much as cooking for my husband and for my family is. I enjoy washing the dishes now because I have turned it into a #Prayer and a labor of Love. Jesus Christ has blessed us with a roof over our heads, food on our plate, and yes, even the dishes in our sink! ••• When we pray while performing the jobs and tasks of the day we begin to love the tasks we once disliked for the sake of Christ Our Love.
