I had a really fucked up dream last night where instead of the totk final boss being a draconified Ganondorf you literally had to fight the Light Dragon. I think what happened was Ganondorf used a stupid amount of gloom to corrupt her (even though that’s probably impossible since she’s made of pure light) and send her into a frenzy. The battle took place in the middle of Hyrule field and was nearly impossible because the Light Dragon is just so big and fast. The bits I remember the most is that Zelda is still talking to Link and telling him what to do and the only way to defeat the boss is by having the right amount of hearts because half way through the Light Dragon grabs you with her mouth and if you run out of hearts before Link can fight his way out she just straight up eats him 😭.

I think it would honestly be a really cool alternative ending but also it just wouldn’t make any sense so idk why I decided to dream about it lmao

Bought September 2022, one day before my local Build a Bear closed. She has sparkly fur and is the perfect balance of squishy and firmness. She does make me sad though, I miss my local BAB so much, especially with all the new bears that have been released since its closure

Bought January 24 in a closing down sale. I actually wanted him for Christmas but didn’t ask for him in the end, so when I saw him in the sale I was like “hell yeah £5 off”. He’s so silly and cute. Bird plushies go hard

Maple - Wrendale Designs Fox

Bought April 2023. Honestly it was love at first sight with her. She’s really soft and has got a lil pudgy tummy. Also her fur actually looks like the artists, Hannah Dale’s, art style?? If you know who I’m talking about then you’ll know what I mean. My fave fox related item, and I have a lot of fox things lmao (also her name is officially Autumn but like that’s my cats name, it’s gonna get confusing, so I call her maple)

Sebastian - JellyCat Bashful Tiger (Medium)

Bought June 2022 as a reward for finishing my A Levels. He’s usually the plush I take with me on holiday to sleep with, since Cookie Dough is a bit too big. He’s very soft and I love his long tail. A handsome boy :)

BASTARD aka Toon Link Plush (Wind Waker HD edition)

The absolute creature of creatures. A Christmas present from 2022. His peak moment was when I put the tip of my pride flag under his tunic and carried him around at the local Pride Parade. I hate him, I want to cherish him. Also my cat hates him for some reason it’s so funny

KWEEBLY - JellyCat Fabulous Fruit Kiwi

The smallest here, but he’s had the biggest impact on my life. I bought him on a whim around the 28th August 2021 and he proceeded to be the biggest comfort I could have ever asked for. I carried him around in my bag for most of Year 13 when my mental health hit rock bottom. He’s been squeezed, thrown at walls, bitten etc etc but I love him dearly. I don’t need his assistance as much now, as I’m in a better place, but he still sits in my bag just in case. Any of my irls mutuals on here know the absolute icon that is Kweebly, dude was a mini celebrity in the sixth form common room. Also my acnh island is named after him

I’m gonna get a bit emotional for a bit because I suddenly remembered how much I miss my Year 3/4 teacher. She was honestly the kindest, funniest and most understanding teacher I ever met. Shit was so rough for me as an undiagnosed autistic child as so many other kids would pick on me for my inability to control my emotions and/or intense interests. I would always be getting in trouble for lashing out without meaning to, and while most adults severely punished me she made sure to talk to both me and the bully. I also took longer to understand/learn how to do things, and while my horrible maths teacher destroyed my confidence my main teacher let me do things at my own pace and encouraged me. She loved how creative I was, and encouraged me to continue writing and drawing. We had the same birthday and one year she bought me a little bracelet (which I think I’ve lost now). When I left her class she would always look for me on the playground and chat to me about how I was getting on. The rest of my teachers in junior school were great, but I always wanted to go back to her class.

Obviously I eventually went to high school and didn’t see her for years until there was a fete at the junior school. She was there. Her hair was still neat and curly, but it was grey. She still wore the same shape glasses and was starting to get wrinkles. The funniest part was how small she was next to me (I was 14 then). She hugged me, asked me how I was getting on and what GCSE’s I was doing. We couldn’t chat for long but I remember her wishing me luck with my exams.

I didn’t visit my junior school again until September 2022 when they had a grand reopening after having a huge remodel. My Year 6 teacher was still there and gave me and my mum a little tour and I obviously asked about her. She retired at the end of the 2020/21 school year and moved probably as far away from where I live in the UK as you could. My Year 6 teacher didn’t have any contact with her. Maybe at the time I didn’t really think anything of it, but now after I’ve been diagnosed with autism I wish I could see her again. I think she knew long before anyone else did. It hurts a little, and maybe I wish she’d said something, but I think all I want to do is just say thank you and hug her one last time. I just hope she knows what a positive impact she had on my life.

I rant about Mario Kart Wii because I can

So the final wave of the Mario Kart 8 booster course pass is coming out next week and obviously I am super excited for it!! The new courses look awesome, and I can’t wait to try out the new characters, but since it’s the last wave I am a bit sad as well. There were so many courses that deserved to be remade into Mario Kart 8, but what was the roster mostly made up of instead?

Wii tracks

I do love Mario Kart Wii with all of my heart, it was my first Mario Kart experience and one of the first video games I ever played as a child, but holy shit. It got WAYYY too much representation

So out of the 16 nitro Wii courses only 5 didn’t make it into the game, which is kind of crazy. Not to mention all the retro tracks that were in Wii that also made it to MK8, like Peach Gardens (DS) and Waluigi Stadium (GCN)

How does that compare to the other games then?

Tour - 14 tracks (17 if counting Merry Mountain, Ninja Hideaway and Sky-High Sundae but tbh the amount of Tour tracks is just as much of a problem as Wii tracks)

Wii - 11 tracks

3DS - 8 tracks

GBA - 8 tracks

DS - 7 tracks

GCN - 7 tracks

N64 - 6 tracks

SNES - 4 tracks

That’s a pretty big difference.

Personally, to level out the numbers and bring back some tracks that deserved to be remade, I would drop Mushroom Gorge and Koopa Cape from the mix. Both were retro courses in MK7, and Mushroom Gorge has barely changed between MK7 and MK8, apart from one mushroom being removed and a higher quality version of the theme. Koopa Cape has had some minor changes: the underwater pipe is now antigravity and the MK8 version has mixed the gliders from MK7 with the half pipes from the original, but I just don’t think it needed it?

Another track that I’m not sure on is Moonview Highway. I love Moonview Highway, but wha are some other non-Tour city tracks with moving vehicles that have only been remade once/have never been remade? Mushroom Bridge and Mushroom City from Double Dash, though I’m leaning more towards Mushroom City since it has a similar vibe to Moonview Highway and has never been remade, whereas Mushroom Bridge was in MKDS.

I think Wario’s Galleon from MK7 would be a good stand in for Koopa Cape. Although it’s far from a tropical and upbeat track, it’s mostly water based, and even though it’s not one of my favourite 3DS tracks I think it would vastly benefit from antigravity since it’s layout already has some nearly vertical climbs. I was actually hoping for this track over Rosalina’s Ice World in the latest wave

As for Mushroom Gorge, I would put Airship Fortress in its place. There aren’t many similarities between the two, but goddamn it I just want a remake of this track is that too much to ask? It was my favourite DS track when I was younger, and I know it was in MK7 like Mushroom Gorge but I can actually see some improvements to be made!! Turn the spiralling tower into antigravity!! Have some singing Shy Guys added to the music because I know for a damn fact they’d be sitting inside the ship!! Add some really strong electric guitars to the music as well while you’re at it!! Nintendo are missing out big time give us Airship Fortress cowards!!

If they were still insistent on giving us 11 Wii courses at least bring back ones which have never been remade before. Toad’s Factory is an obvious choice. It’s a fan favourite and just a super cool track overall. It’s honestly a crime that it’s been stuck in MKWii all these years. Honestly Dry Dry Ruins and Bowser’s Castle could also be good for a remake but they’re nowhere near as popular

Other tracks that deserved to be included, in my very biased opinion, are: Wuhu Island Loop/Wuhu Mountain Loop, Shy Guy Bazaar, Luigi’s Mansion, Delfino Square, Dino Dino Jungle, Rainbow Road GCN, Shy Guy Beach (yeah I could just go on-)

To sum it up, Mario Kart Wii gets too much spotlight and other courses deserved a remake more than some of theirs. Also, I’m a nerd with a Mario Kart fixation, if you couldn’t tell already

Happy new year hollysoda nation!! It’s officially 2024 here in the uk and it already kinda sucks I would hold onto 2023 a lil bit longer if you could-

I don’t usually do resolutions, but after this year I kinda feel like I need to? It’s not like I didn’t accomplish anything but there’s a lot I need to improve on or simply just do ig

Make new friends/be a better friend to my existing buddies: I had a pretty big fall out with some of my irls this year and although most wounds have healed I’ve lost a connection to one or two. I’m gonna try to see them as much as I can, and also meet new people!! Because why not, I’m an adult, I can do things

Sell my art: whether it be through commissions, adopts or craft things idc I just wanna sell my art AND be more confident with what I can make

Declutter my room and clean it more often: the clutter is getting too much to handle not gonna lie. I have some ideas on how to improve things though so hopefully I can get this one done quickly

Embrace who I am: my autism diagnosis this past month, and the whole journey of getting said diagnosis, has slowly made me more comfortable in my own skin but now I really want to try and embrace the tism. Not in like a showy off way, but in a “yeah I’m autistic what about it?” way. Maybe I’ll go to some groups or something idk

Write more: I did manage to post two fics in 2023 which is good for me but I now have a brand new laptop as of two days ago!! It loads in like two seconds I literally don’t have an excuse to write on my phone anymore. Hoping to write some lu fics and some warrior cats stuff as well!

Be more independent: I rely on my mum too much tbh. I love her to death and she loves me too but I can tell she’s just as mentally exhausted as I am from this year. Passing my driving test will definitely help with this but I just need to do more things myself, like driving myself places, arranging things, adulting like I should be etc

I probably won’t follow any of these but oh well it’s here to look back on in 12 months. Have a good year everyone!

Honest to god opinion, Phantom Hourglass was SO GOOD and is definitely one of the more underrated Zelda games. I was critical of it at first because it was something I just wasn’t used to control-wise and as someone who loves osts I thought it was lacking but I soon grew to love it. The final boss against Bellum, all phases, was probably the best part of the game (I secretly wish the time-stopping mechanic had been introduced sooner because it’s rlly rlly cool but I understand why it wasn’t) and the ending itself was just so bittersweet. It’s still probably at the bottom of the list of Zelda games I’ve played (only four as of now) BUT I do love it with all my heart.

Also I got Spirit Tracks the other day so I’ll eventually start that when I have the time. I really am playing the whole adult timeline completely out of order lmao
