My deaf spiderwoman OC, Marisol 🕷

Miles knows ASL and even tho it's the Insomniac version of him Imma headcanon all versions of Miles know ASL because that cool asf!

Marisol communicates solely in ASL. She's Italian-American and LOVES pastels and hearts.

In deaf culture they use light to alert and get others attention so I wanted to incorporate light into her fighting style. She uses flash bombs and the main part of her suit, which is based off of the Mirror Spider's reflective back, can blind temporarily enemies. The eyes of her suit allow her to see in the intense light and are very expressive (an important part of signing).

She's not fully flushed out yet and this is only the 2nd iteration of her design so she will definitely change in the future. But for now I want to figure out what her face looks like and draw her with clothes over her suit because she does so all the time.

Ngl, I get mad as fuck when I think about what the fandomfication process is doing to Hobie.

He's not mean! He's not a bully! He's not "toxic"! He's like, the best Black Punk rep I've seen in media in a long time and the best anarchist rep I've seen in media, EVER! Type: Isolating + Deceiving

Romantic

I think Hobie would be the type to frame someone for his crimes to get them out of his way. I know all Spider people show high intelligence but I think Hobie shows himself as someone who could easily escape any sort of predicament using his intelligence. Like how he gathered the right items needed to make Gwen a watch. So ultimately speaking, if he sees a rival he needs to get rid of, he'll commit a light crime, frame them, and everything's safe for him

He won't express his feelings until you're trapped in a corner, or discover he's the one committing all the crimes. When he does, he'll confess normally before stealing you to his universe and don't think of escaping because he knows all the cheats.

He's a normal boyfriend otherwise, except for the fact he won't let anyone from other universes rescue you or interact with you whatsoever. He's not overwhelmingly affectionate but he does like giving an occasional little knick-knack for you to have fun with.

Back on before he steals you away, I think he's the type to cover up his emotions for the most part (negative emotions I mean). I personally say he gets a little pissy if anyone's being too close to you, so he again either frames them or does a "simple" little trick on them to keep them away.

If you ask him for something he'll get it for you- one benefit of him being able to travel through universes and be very cunning.

"You do realize that you're talking to THE Hobie Brown. He'll always find a way to slip past barriers, love~"

i keep seeing people make the argument that hobie's WAY older than gwen and pavitr despite the fact that they're all really close friends in the movie. and i get that there's no canon established age for him in atsv yet but let's be honest. it's because he's black and miles is 'less threatening' than him isn't it

Hobie Comfort Headcannons

Synopsis: If Hobie came home to see you crying

Master List

-I could never see him as the type to ask you what’s wrong

-Or at least not at first

Walking into your apartment, Hobie takes off his mask and throws it onto the couch as he makes his way toward your room. He opens the door, setting his guitar by your vanity. “Luv, ‘m back how was your-” He stops as he sees you curled up with a pillow in the corner of your bed against the wall. Your face is placed on a pillow as it muffles your cries, catching your tears. Not being able to look your boyfriend in the eyes you keep your head down, feeling his eyes on you. Suddenly you feel a dip in the bed. Hobie’s long lanky arms wrap around your figure, picking you up carefully and placing you in his lap as he holds you close to him, his head resting on top of yours. The ambiance of the city fills the room.

-He’s the type of person that will let you cry because crying is good

“People need a good cry, maybe then everyone would be less stuck up”

-So when he finds you crying he’ll just hold you till you're ready to talk

-He’d just keep you close drawing circles in your skin with his calloused fingers

-When you are ready to talk he’ll just listen

-I feel like unless you specifically ask him for advice he won’t give it

-unless he feels like you really need some

-ONE THING I CAN NOT GET OUT OF MY HEAD

-While you're talking about whatever happened he’d just hold your face WITH HIS BIG ASS HANDS

-His thumbs resting below the outer corners of your eyes

-And if you start crying while talking about it he’d just wipe your tears with his thumbs

Lifting your head from the pillow you look up and see your boyfriend Hobie. “Ya ready to talk ‘bout it, swee’heart?”

He says lifting you and shifting you to sit on his lap facing him. “Yea…yea ‘m ready,” you say, wiping the years from your face. You feel Hobie’s hands cup your face as he looks at you with concern “Well ‘m ready to listen” he says softly placing his forehead against yours.

-But if you don't wanna talk he’ll just hold you

-Like I said he won’t force you to talk about it, why would he?

-He just wants you to be okay, even if that means he just has to hold you while you cry in his arms

-NOW if you’re like me and just wanna cry alone in your corner until there are no more tears left he’ll let you…..to an extent

-Don’t get me wrong he’ll give you your space, BUT

-He’s gonna sit in the opposite corner…

-He won't say anything or do anything he’s just gonna sit there and make sure you’re okay

-He’ll probably fill up a water bottle and give it to you

-After a few minutes of sitting there making sure you're okay he’ll actually leave

-When you’re finally done crying you’ll walk out into the living room and see how on the couch

-WITH your favorite movie on, a pizza and some soda or something to drink 🙈

-He’ll just look up at you and pat the spot next to him on the couch

-As you sit down he’ll pull you into his chest and ask if you're okay

Sitting down on the couch next to Hobie as (insert favorite movie) played on your tv. Hobie pulled you into himself as you both sat quietly watching the movie “You alrigh’ now?” Hobie asked his eyes not leaving the tv. “Yea…I’m okay now” you said, taking his hand into your own.

Ending A/n: Came to my mind at like 3am 🤷🏾‍♀️ thought it was cute so i wrote it up idk if i rlly like this but we’ll see anyways have a good (day/afternoon/night) peace and love 🫶🏾

Hobie was a lot of things to you. A roommate, a best friend, and sometimes more. Sure, he kisses you and you sleep in the same bed on occasion but there was no label. There wasn't a name for whatever the two of you had going on and it seemed that Hobie liked it that way.

He never really was one for consistency some days he would be more like your boyfriend than anything. He would take you out with his hand in your back pocket and a smile that goes up to his ears. Kissing you as gently as he could like he feared you would break. Hobie held you like water in his hands. Other days he was your best friend and just that. You would sit together on the shitty sofa you bought together for your apartment (he calls it your flat). You could have moments of peace where the two of you pigged out on takeout and watched the worst movies imaginable.

There was nothing really wrong with the way things were now or at least that's what he thought, but to you this was hell on Earth-138. The thought of the simple instability in your maybe relationship gave you a headache. Not sure how to approach the topic one day you knock on his door.

Hobie opens his door of course and greets you with a smile. The type of smile a child with an ice cream cone has. An unadulterated childlike happiness. Until he sees the look on your face.

Nervous isn't even enough to describe the way you feel walking into his room and plopping yourself on his bed. The feelings of anxiety settle in the pit of your stomach and manifest physically. Tapping your feet and picking at the skin surrounding the cuticles trying your best not to blurt out the first thing that comes to mind.

"We need to talk" You sighs out her words as they move slowly out from your stomach into the air. Hobie tilts his head and sighs wiping a hand across his face

"This sounds...serious" His voice reflects his emotions perfectly he's not too calm but not too nervous. The exact opposite of how you felt.

You take a few breaths trying to unjumble your thoughts and get your words in the right order. A heavy silence fills the air as both of you wait for the words to come out of your mouth.

"What are we Hobie. I mean- I like what we have going I just need to know what exactly it is, or I'll lose my mind. Are you my boyfriend are we just friends are we just roommates. We go on dates we do dating stuff but you haven't made it official are you talking to other people?" All the thoughts you've been pilling in your head for the past few months come spilling out in awkward ways. Your voice is quick and stutters not knowing how to express the way you feel due to all the nerves and other thinking.

He laughs. Of all things Hobie can do in a situation like this he laughs because of course he does. Then he sees the look on your face and realizes the reality of the situation. He takes your hands in his and bends down slightly to look you in the eyes.

"You're my person. I thought we both knew that we were each other's people. If you wanna put a label on this, we can. Just thought it wasn't needed since we both knew we belong to each other."

He shrugs trying to be nonchalant. "Guess that was stupid though."

An immense weight lifts off your shoulders as you now know you and Hobie have been exclusive this whole time. Next time his weird friends come around he introduces you as his "partner in crime aka the love of my life" The labels help you relax a bit and Hobie learns to respect that.
