When You Can't Run

Warnings: captivity, torture, escape, hidden injury, infection, blood, wound, unconsciousness

"If you can't run you walk. If you can't walk you crawl. And if you can't crawl, I'll carry you."

Those were the words Team Leader always preached to their team. Team Leader would never let their team give up. Would never let a member fall behind. And they would never leave a teammate behind.

Team Leader trailed behind Teammate One. They felt like they had been walking for hours, but knew it had likely on been half an hour since they escaped Whumper's compound by the skin of their teeth. Teammate One had really stood up and taken charge the moment it became clear it was their time to run.

Team Leader was glad for that. They didn't think they were up for much of anything they were so weak. It wasn't the days of torture that had them so weak. Nor was it the minimal food and water that had them so weak. It was the deeply infected wound on the small of their back that had them so weak.

But they had to keep going. They had to get out of there. And Teammate One wasn't likely to leave them behind if Team Leader said they would wait here for rescue while Teammate One ran for help. Teammate One would never leave anyone behind.

"You ok, Team Leader? I can slow down if you like." Teammate One peered over their shoulder.

Team Leader shook their head. They could feel the blood dripping down their back as the wound reopened for the umpteenth time in the last hour. "I'm right behind you."

"You always said to us 'when you can't run you walk,' so let's just walk together." Teammate One slowed down until their strides matched Team Leader's clumsy ones. "Are you sure you're ok?"

"Just a little under the weather. Days of torture, you know," Team Leader joked, though they couldn't quite muster the energy to smile.

"Yeah, it was pretty shitty, wasn't it?" Teammate One said as they faced forward, though they kept one eye on Team Leader.

Team Leader nodded weakly as they stumbled. Teammate One grabbed their shoulder and was the only reason they didn't face plant on the dirt in front of them. "I.....I....I thinkkkkkk I......I.....I nnnneeeedddd y-y-you tttttto d-d-d-d-oooo th-th-the rest....st...st," Team Leader mumbled, unable to bring themself to say the rest of the words they always told their team.

"Team Leader?" Teammate One shouted as Team Leader's knees gave out and they collapsed. "Team Leader!"

Team Leader fainted dead away in Teammate One's grasp. They didn't hear Teammate One's frantic shouts. Didn't hear Teammate One's gasp as Teammate One finally found the wound on their back. And they didn't hear Teammate One curse as Teammate One lifted them.

"Don't you dare quit on me, Team Leader. I will carry you. And when you're awake, we are going to have a discussion about amending our team motto." Teammate One ran as fast as they could through the forest, Team Leader clutched tightly in their arms. They would get Team Leader to safety. Team Leader couldn't crawl, and so they would carry Team Leader the whole way home.

GW2 ROLEPLAYERS

So. I've had this idea reserved for some time, now I finally have the drive and time to pull it off.

Y'know how the GW2 world/public RP scene is kinda well, barely existent? I have an idea that may resurrect it in some way.

This will be for US servers!

HERE WE ARE! This is my WORLD RP RESURRECTION PROJECT!

The idea is to basically make whole cities or areas the " RP event" for quite a few hours, so it's a faux event with no set premise and is only really there to drag people to the area.

World sharding kinda broke random walk up RP for the most part, buuut what if there was some type of anchor point for a single shard?

I plan on being that anchor point, I'm going to select two days of the week and for about 5 hours a night/afternoon set up a squad for people to jump in and jump out of if they want, but at least everyone will be in the same shard. I will probably rotate through cities, meaning a different one each day, people can set up their own events or businesses for these days to make these places feel a lot more lived in, I would appreciate anyone reaching out to me if they are interested in doing such, a lot of coordination is going to help this kind of project in the long run. This will of course be headed by the efforts of a fairly small guild, any help will be extremely appreciated. We are currently deciding on what days this whole thing will be, might make a poll for it if people like this idea enough. Given that my post about why you are not obligated to blog about Current Events (whatever they are at any given time) is going around again, I'd like to say the same thing from a slightly different angle and state what you ARE obligated to do.

You are still not obligated to blog about ANY specific subject, no matter how serious, no matter how urgent, no matter how grave. You never will be. The impact of social media on real world atrocities has the potential to be great, but it is cumulative. No one is going to die in a ditch somewhere, barely uttering the tragic final words, "if only...if only...tumblr users wormhentaiafficionado and mothmanbutthole...posted about how sad they are...then maybe things would be different..." - nor are policymakers going to change their minds because some tweet has 749,845 cumulative likes and retweets instead of 750,000. Make no mistake, if you have the energy to be sharing these kinds of things, it can be good to do! We live in a society, it's always good to help where you can, even if all you can do is show public support for people who are hurting - but if you can't do that, for any reason, you're not obligated to. Period. End of.

What are you obligated to do?

1. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Social media accounts are not most people's entire lives. Just because someone isn't blogging about whatever tragedy is occurring does not mean they don't care. Sometimes it does mean that, sure, and that sucks - but not only are you not going to change that by yelling at them, sometimes it means they care too much. Sometimes it means they're closer to it than you assumed and need a moment to think about something else, anything else. Sometimes it means it's not safe for them to be blogging about it, be it due to abusive family potentially finding out, being at risk of getting fired and quite possibly dying of poverty sooner rather than later, or even taking very illegal direct action that they do not want to be linked to on record in even the vaguest possible way. Sometimes it means dealing with it is their day job and they're on the internet after a long and exhausting day of trying to make things better. You don't know. You'll never know unless they decide to tell you. No one owes you that explanation. You are obligated to make peace with that fact.

2. Slow the fuck down.

Listen. When bad things happen, from natural disasters, to manmade horrors beyond our comprehension, it's only normal to get scared and desperate to do something, anything about it. That heightened emotional state is very vulnerable, and because of that, there will always be people out there looking to take advantage of the chaos for ulterior motives - and no matter how good your intentions, and in fact no matter how right you are in your values and at the core of your strategy, you will never be immune to garbage-in-garbage-out. Misinformation can be deadly, even in the hands of someone who means well. You need to pause long enough to sort out the garbage. You need to learn to fight the impulse to trust every single post that tells you that your share/comment/etc. is URGENT and WILL mean the difference between life and death for someone, somewhere. Do your fact checks. Scan for dogwhistles before you end up passing around a post that implies [insert group that is marginalized in most of the English-speaking world but has hegemonic power in some other part of the world and is committing some atrocity there] is coming after you next if you stay silent. Vet charity and advice links before you accidentally send scared, desperate, and vulnerable people to a scammer - or worse, hand them over to a honeypot operation or give them a recipe for poisonous "medicine".

Or, to put it another way, you are obligated to make an attempt to stay informed enough to avoid making things materially worse. You are not obligated to doomblog. In fact, doomblogging can be antithetical to your obligation to not make things worse. Choosing neutrality in times of great tragedy and injustice is bad, yes, but you should immediately be wary of anyone who says that simply not blogging about a subject - let alone not sharing a specific post - is inherently "choosing neutrality".

So remember: breathe. Be careful out there. Mourn for the people that whatever atrocity has this or my other post circulating has taken from us or will take from us, and do your best to be kind to the people who are still alive - and remember that kindness includes using social media responsibly.

Ghostlights Prompt Event: Blind Date with a Prompt

My first time ever posting anything and it's ghostlights, typical. Anyway this was tons of fun to do and I managed to pump this out in like two days. I really hope the smaller details are easy to see bc I had a lot of fun doing things like Dukes heart blush and eyes and Dannys electric scars and it would be a shame if Tumbler crunchifed it too much like Insta usually did.

The prompt I got was Duke is Danny's secret admirer and sharing headphones (that's a lie, it was actually sharing headphones and 1930 but I had no clue how I would do that so I just rerolled and got lucky lol). I might end up doing some more idk I've just never been this inspired before :>

So his stone was completely destroyed, and the IPC knows about it. I've also got the feeling that he wanted to free himself from the IPC. So why, at the end of 2.2, does he act as if most of 2.1 didn't happen? I mean, why would he expect a rise from Diamond? He clearly still has full support of the IPC too.

Can you even be Aventurine the Stoneheart without aventurine the stone? Is Diamond going to give him a new one? 

I hope he's up to something. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense.

I'm also a bit confused about this. Didn't it all happen exactly according to his plan? How was it foiled?
