“You help people all the time,” they hummed, “Is it really all that surprising someone would return the favor?” “I’m a hero, it’s my job,” [Hero] stared at them. “You’re a villain, meaning it’s decidedly not your job to help people, especially not me.”

“Ah well,” [Villain] focused on their wound, “call it some remnants of the hippocratic oath I broke long ago still kicking.”

"[Villain]." [Lover] gave them a tight smile, their eyes filled only with resignation, "You're here."

"I presume you know why I'm here." [Villain] said as they loomed over [Lover], they nodded. "Then let's cut to chase, any last words?"

"If you love [Hero], if you truly love them, then don't do this. Just let them be happy." [Lover] begged, but not for their own sake.

"They'll get over it." [Villain] stated.

"They won't."

"They will. I'll help them. And eventually, after that, Hero will love me for this."

"No, they won't." [Lover] glared at them, "If you do this, if you break them down and make them love you, it won't be them. All you'll have is a twisted, broken thing in [Hero]'s skin."

"And that will be enough." [Villain] said, trying to convince themselves more than [Lover] as they grabbed them by the throat and squeezed.
