My brainrot over it is driving me crazy, so I will now be rambling about my Honkai Star Rail x Hualian AU. I haven’t been able to discuss it with anyone because I’ve got no friends who are TGCF mains, who also enjoy HSR & know a decent amount of lore…

(If you are that person and are 18+, then please please please please let me spill the contents of my overfilled brain in your presence, thank you. I need more friends… especially ones who like TGCF.)

Anyways, time to let my rambling begin. For now I’ll talk about Hualian and relevant info about them, the plot I have in mind is still being sorted out.

Their lives take place on the Xianzhou Luofu, and the plot starts when they’re young childhood friends, around 100 years or so before the present (in game.)

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian are both from the Vidyadhara race, though they’re drastically different. Hua Cheng isn’t as pure in blood, thus he resembles the various npcs with pointed ears you see walking around the Luofu. No horns, no tail, and no important social status. Xie Lian on the other hand, is more pure in blood. (this may be going slightly against canon hsr lore, since I’m pretty sure only those chosen as successors for the High Elder position can have a tail and horns. I think that’s silly though, so in this AU horns and tail can exist on Vidyadhara who aren’t the High Elder, it’s just rare to find one. They merely lack the power which is strictly for the High Elder position.) Xie Lian is a rarity among Vidyadhara as he has horns and a tail, thus he was held in high regard even in his past reincarnation. He has no interest in learning about his past self though, and was adamant about it ever since he could express it after hatching from his shell.

I am still debating where to place the “present day” plot. I’m not sure if I’d like to have everything occur before the Stellaron burst, or have it occur during and after. Most of my plot takes place in the present, as the past is for showing the childhood friendship between Hualian prior to Hua Cheng’s mysterious disappearance.

Now, for their paths, elements, and affiliations.

Hua Cheng:

• Path of The Destruction / Quantum / Stellaron Hunter

Xie Lian:

• Path of The Erudition / Imaginary / Judge in the Ten-Lords Commission

As for their weapons, Xie Lian will normally wield a sword which I will design based off Fang Xin’s manhua look. Ruoye will exist, I am just trying to figure out how to make Ruoye fit in.

E-Ming exists as well, and I DO have lore for it, thanks to the latest patch in hsr. E-Ming is a Heliobus that Hua Cheng encountered outside the Luofu, it took the form of a Scimitar. It approached Hua Cheng with a singular wish, to be wielded and used as a mighty weapon by a capable swordsman. Hua Cheng is not a fool, however, and knows that the Heliobi are parasitic in nature… at least, the ones he heard about on the Luofu were. In exchange for wielding E-Ming as his weapon, the Heliobus must agree to be bound to him permanently, and sealed in a way where it was under his control, not vice versa. Thus it explains how Hua Cheng lost the red eye he loathed so much. E-Ming was sealed within the eye Hua Cheng tore from himself, and with the blood he had spilled, E-Ming was then bound to him. E-Ming had no issue with this though, as it had not been exposed to human emotions and remained an innocent being. (This is me just taking the fact that a Heliobus can be sealed inside someone (HuoHuo) and running with the idea to make it fit Hua Cheng.)

Relationships with others

Astral Express:

Dan Heng - He has once managed to hack into the Data Bank of the Astral Express and typed in an entry about himself. - It was filled with nothing but the most random, irrelevant facts about himself and it was simply titled 'Masked Fools' Favorite'. - He made 30 copies of the same entry, just to make sure that they saw it. - The day after they deleted the fake entries, made an entry that only said, 'Hello, Dan Heng! :D" in it.

Himeko - Has implanted one of his jester cards on one of her satellites before. - He enjoys bothering her with questions on what else she would add to the jester cards - Has tried all of her suggestions before. Not all of them worked, sadly.

Herta Space Station:

Herta - Once hacked into the Simulated Universe with a lot of extra help from a certain Stellaron Hunter. - Made it so that you could buy fake blessings from him which secretly did the opposite of what they said. - He replaced the spot of some of the Herta puppets which caused annoyance from the genius.

Jarilo-VI:

Gepard - Likes to mess with him through his jester cards - Bonds with him over stories of Blythe - Has once somehow committed a crime using his cards, don't ask how. - He had to be arrested in a tiny cage just for the card for a few days.

Bronya - Has a jester card snuck into her office bookshelves. - Teases her whenever about Seele. - Loves getting her flustered about her feelings.

Luka - Enjoys watching his matches through his cards. - Makes sure that he is able to see Luka's highs and lows. - Has once teased him about being liked by a lot of people.

The Xianzhou Luofu:

Tingyun - Made a deal with her to include his jester card on every trade she does. - Whenever the client declines or is aggressive for no reason, makes sure to spook them as much as he can with the cards. - Is a great helping hand to Tingyun, as long as she is able to give him some sort of entertainment while he does it.

Yukong - Bullies her about overworking herself. - Makes sure that she takes sufficient breaks all the while. - Though he sometimes is a menace and when he knows that the foxian is tired, hides the jester card in between her papers and scares her when she finds it.

Bailu - Loves telling her stories about different things that he has encountered. - Finds her very interesting. - Helps her escape the Alchemy Commission - Has once gotten the card confiscated by the Cloud Knights due to this, to Bailu's displeasure.

Huohuo - Has never actually revealed the fact that he has a jester card going around the area to her. - Enjoys making her scared, thinking there's a heliobus lurking around. - Very much enjoys annoying Tail as well. - Though he never caused her too much trouble other than just spooking her. Yet.

Xueyi - Had a card caught by her while he went to spook Huohuo for the 5th time that night. - Almost got sent to the Shackling Prison for that. - Explained his situation and had to promise that he wasn't gonna do anything bad to the foxian. - Was permitted to continue afterwards.

Penacony:

Sunday - Enjoys messing around with him. - Sometimes teases him for being way too serious. - Never gets his name right, just for the fun of it. - He knows about a lot of things in Penacony that Sunday is hiding. How? Well, let's say those jester cards have a lot more use than you'd think.

Stellaron Hunters:

Silver Wolf - Has gotten into contact with her just to mess with Herta a few times - They enjoy gaming together when they both are free. - He sometimes helps her hack the games they play so that they are able to do whatever they want without limitations.

Kafka - Enjoys talking about different things with her. - From the most exquisite coats to buy and wear to how to insert stellarons into people. - If he wasn't so into being a Masked Fool, he would probably be along with them by now. - He sometimes helps with their plans but makes sure that he isn't caught by any IPC and isn't placed on a bounty.

Masked Fools:

Sampo - Thinks his outfit isn't very useful for the planet he usually stays on. - Though he doesn't really mind. Why would he anyways? - Enjoys talking about Blythe together.

Sparkle - The two share too many wavelengths it's terrifying. - They have to keep them apart from each other because of how dangerous those two are when they team up. - Pretends to dislike her in front of non-Fools, but every Fool knows that they are quite close. - Please don't put them in a room together. For everyone's safety.

Ahanon/Blythe - Self-proclaimed older brother. - He never actually did anything to make himself nicer as an older brother, just stayed the same. - He just called himself an older brother of Blythe's since they were calling Sampo that and he was bored. - Loves bothering them whenever he has the chance to. - Teases them about anything that he can.

Others:

Aventurine - Loves messing with his head. - He knows barely anything about his past but isn't an idiot to the tattoo on his neck. - His goal is to break him down and make him miserable. For what reason? Nothing more than his own entertainment. - Unbeknownst to himself, he started to gain a bit of feelings for the gambler. - He'll always try to deny it when in private. - But he loves joking about it with others.

Dr. Ratio - Has no idea who this man is. - But he does think that he is way too serious. - Loves to mock his name. - Is slightly jealous of him for having so much time with Aventurine but doesn't realize it.

Keep in mind, this is just wishful thinking.

Anyway:

I’m starting to wonder if there might be potential for future interactions between Dan Heng and someone connected to the Remembrance (like Black Swan, for example) because if there’s anything that can help him (and the players by extension) unravel his past life’s memories to learn and understand the full details of the Sedition, it has to be the Remembrance.

My mental gymnastics so far:

List of unreliable narrators:

Blade: marastruck, and likely doesn’t have a good grasp of Yingxing’s memories. Probably doesn’t care enough (anymore) to find out what happened and what went wrong.

Dan Heng: his hatching rebirth was botched and he was fed a negative narrative of Dan Feng.

Jing Yuan: he most likely doesn’t know all the details, just that Dan Feng and Yingxing attempted to revive Baiheng.

Jingliu: same reason as Jing Yuan (and something tells me she might not care enough to investigate on her own).

Preceptors (and some other Vidyadhara): obviously, they’re shady as fuck (something something about Preceptor Taoran having horns despite not being a High Elder, please correct me if I’m mistaken) and while there may be some good apples in the basket, we don’t know who that could be (just look at what happened in Bailu’s quest). It was also mentioned in the Summary of the Luofu’s Ambrosial Arbor Crisis that some of them had dealings with Dan Shu, who we are familiar with as the mastermind behind Sanctus Medicus. Those suspects may be the same ones who might have something to do with the Sedition.

List of possible allies:

That one maid from one of Bailu’s character stories: the one who warned Bailu to not tell anyone about her dreams. There’s a good chance they don’t know what was happening before, during or after the Sedition, but they might still be of some help to Bailu and Dan Heng.

The author of the Summary of the Luofu’s Ambrosial Arbor Crisis: I forgot where I was going with this one but definitely read the full article. I think you can find it at Fyxestroll Garden where the ghost hunters (Huohuo, Guinaifen, Sushang, TB) meet up.

Hanya: she may be a Ten-Lords judge, but she mentions in the Summary that the suspected Preceptors have sort of revealed themselves (though, unfortunately, not to the audience yet)…and I forgot where I was going with this.

Huohuo: also a Ten-Lords judge, but if you recall that side-mission with March and a non-threatening heliobus, there is an option to release that heliobus and allow it to roam free through the universe and Huohuo will turn a blind eye when you report it. (Gdi I also forgot where I was going with this.)

Xuepu: I could be seriously wrong since she’s a Preceptor, but she was also Dan Feng’s mentor. Even if there is that chance that even she doesn’t know what happened, she could dispel some of the narrative Dan Heng was given while he was still in the Shackling Prison. She might even be able to teach him what she did Dan Feng (behind the Preceptors’ backs, anyway).

Yuluo the Chief Alchemist after Dan Shu: just a Vidyadhara NPC, but being (temporarily) nominated the Cauldron Master (and thus one of the Luofu’s Six Charioteers) means she now holds a fair amount of authority and can dig into records she normally wouldn’t be able to as a normal healer. She most likely has a limited amount of time though, and the authority she’s given most likely isn’t that much since her position is just a temporary measure, given the whole thing with Dan Shu and that someone is also calling for the return of Yunhua (who was apparently the Cauldron Master before “a dispute regarding the Vidyadhara” that led to her banishment) so there is a very high chance we will see nothing of her, and nothing will come of this.

Now that I’m thinking a little about this Yunhua, I have to wonder if her banishment was also the result of the Preceptors’ meddling…

It didn't take much for him to find who he was looking for. The description of the small Foxian were detailed and unique, and in no time he found her close to the garden's entrance. He was told to avoid going inside, so he was grateful to find her here. "Hello. Huohuo, right?" He asks, lifting his hood up slightly. "I'm a friend of Stelle's. She's told me a lot about you. I wanted to give you something as thanks for helping her, and for the season." He hands her the bag he was holding in one hand. Inside was a large fox plushie, the fur in a similar colors to the unique greens of her tail. He hoped it wasn't too childish..

Fyxestroll Garden could be a rather lonely place most of the time - aside from the numerous Wraith Wardens and Spiritfarers stationed there, that is. The only occasions that Xianzhou citizens would venture into the somber gardens were Foxians coming to Foxsomn Tomb to pay respects to loved ones who have passed on, or daring young people hoping to catch a glimpse of supposed 'supernatural activity', so Huohuo was surprised to see someone approaching the entrance looking for her specifically.

The Foxian girl felt some apprehension at first due to not recognizing the figure, but relaxed once he introduced himself as Miss Stelle's friend. She collected herself a little before responding in kind,

"Oh y-yes, that's me." Huohuo said, allowing herself to smile a little, "It's nice to meet you, mister." However, one of her folded ears twitched in surprise at what the man said next. He had... gotten her a gift as thanks for helping Miss Stelle? The young judge tentatively took the bag from his hands, opening it up to see what was inside. Huohuo eyes widened as she pulled out the green-hued fox plush, it's faux fur soft to the touch. The color's resemblance to her own ethereal tail was not lost on Huohuo, and she felt touched that Miss Stelle's friend thought to gift her something this personal for her.

Slowly, she hugged the fox close to her chest, and looked up at the man with glistening light green eyes.

"Thank you, mister..." She said softly with a tiny smile, "I... I love it."

"E-excuse me, miss? Do you perhaps know which delve the Sleepless Earl is? I've seem to have gotten lost." Misha scratched the back of his head awkwardly. He had boarded the Luofu with both Lynx and Bailu with the intention of going site seeing; however, everyone ended up separating and doing their own thing leaving him behind. Not that he minded, Lynx probably wanted to explore on her own and Bailu probably had to take care of somethings. At least they had an agreed meeting at the Sleepless Earl around three, which to his credit, he tried to find three separate times.

"Hmm? O-Oh!"

Huohuo was standing near the jetty at Central Starskiff Haven and was caught off guard by the unfamiliar voice asking her for directions. She turned around to face the voice's owner with a sheepish and apologetic expression.

"Sorry, I didn't know you were talking to me at first..."

The young Foxian judge got a better look at the white-haired boy in front of her. He appeared as though he could be a similar age to Huohuo if she were a short-life species, and the clothes he wore looked clean and well taken care of. Reorienting herself from her lapse in attention, she smiled at him politely.

"The Sleepless Earl? It's actually not too far from here." Huohuo briefly looked over her shoulder and pointed. "If you walk down the avenue and turn left, you'll see a building with purple flowers growing around it and a smaller Foxian girl standing in front of it. Her name is Mengming, and she's the current owner." She rubbed her arm in slight self-consciousness.

"I, um... hope that helps you."

The heliobi co-existing with the Foxian will be able to sense the power of Remembrance radiating from it, but the radiance is gentle and careful while Black Swan explains the meaning behind this gift. "You are young and diligent, so take this reminder of how your kindness and your courage create a wonderful ripple effect, touching the hearts of many. Hear the warmth your name is shared with between those you see as friends." Guinaifen excitedly speaking about showing Huohuo new videos, Sushang happily talking about what she wants Huohuo to try, the Trailblazer preparing for a visit, and so many more. Why not be a gentle Memokeeper to remind others of warm memories?

Pale green eyes widened in surprise as the soothsayer's voice reached Huohuo's folded ears, and she turned around to see the elegantly dressed woman appear where she hadn't been just a moment before.

"Miss Black Swan, it's you!" The young judge exclaimed, making her way closer. It was clear from her tone that she hadn't expected to see the mysterious Memokeeper again so soon, but it wasn't exactly unwelcome. She had been nothing but kind to the little Foxian, after all. Upon seeing the crystal flower in Black Swan's hands being offered to her, Huohuo blinked. She had brought her a gift?

"This... has the memories of my friends inside it?" Small hands gingerly took the flower by the stem, and she turned it over and over in her grasp, noticing how the light reflected off of it's crystalline surface. At Black Swan's words, she briefly closed her eyes as she let the encouraging voices of her friends wash over her, bringing a smile to her face. The girl had been through much hardship for one so young, but the new people she had met, those she can truly call her friends, had been there for her when she needed them most. Her eyes opened again to linger on the flower before looking up at Black Swan again.

Yes... this would serve as an excellent reminder of the good in Huohuo's life.

"Oh... thank you, Miss Black Swan." Huohuo said softly, gratitude evident in her tone. "I'll make sure to keep this safe."

Lynx knew it was rude to stare, especially on the Luofu, but she couldn't help it! That girls tail was on FRIE! But, it didn't seem like it was bothering her... Maybe there were foxian's who's tails were tails were naturally on fire within the Xianzhoz too?

Huohuo could practically feel the eyes staring directly at her tail, and caught sight of the outworlder girl through the corner of her eye. She was no stranger to people gawking at her unusually glowing tail, and this girl was no exception. She didn't look disgusted or afraid of it, at least. That was a welcome reprieve.

The little Foxian girl fully turned to face her, wearing an expression that was a mixture of politeness and slight embarrassment.

"Oh, um... hello." She uttered, holding one of her arms close to the side of her body. "Do you... need help with something?"

Huohuo blinked in surprise at the Berrypheasant Skewer in the Dragon Lady's hand.

She wanted to give this to her?

With a small, grateful smile, the Foxian girl takes the treat from the little Vidyadhara.

"Thank you, Lady Bailu. You... you didn't have to get this for me -- I was just doing my job."

Despite herself, Huohuo's eyes start to well up with unshed tears, but she is still smiling.

"Still... thank you."

Huohuo's small voice could be heard clearly as she approached her new friend and fellow Ghost-Hunting Squad member, her ethereal tail glowing ever so brightly. Madame Hanya had graciously given her some time off from her duties in order to visit Stelle in Aurum Alley, and the prospect of not having to worry about searching for heliobi to subdue, even for a brief time, brought relief and joy to the Foxian girl. Spotting Stelle near one of the Alley's many food stalls, Huohuo made her way over, and the Trailblazer would be able to see an expression of genuine happiness on the young judge's normally nervous-looking face.

"I'm so glad you were able to come! How have you been?"
