Gov, after New York said something completely out of pocket: I sometimes wonder what goes on in your head. It keeps me up at night.
New York: I don’t like that you think about that.
(pause)
New York, again: I don’t like that you think about me.
(1950’s)
Massachusetts: No, York, you can’t do that, fucking dumbass
New York, really quickly: onlyredbloodedcommunistssaywhat
Massachusetts, puzzled: what?
New York: HE’S A COMMUNIST!! HIM!
Random Person: I can show you a magic trick!
Massachusetts: Really? Show me.
Random Person: Is this your card?
Massachusetts, horrified and frantically pointing at the person: WITCH!! WITCH!
Young New Jersey: Well, York’s got a bad case of “stupid disease” that unfortunately gets worse as the days go on.
Pennsylvania, almost losing it: What?
Young New York: Stop telling everyone I’m stupid! I am not stupid-
Young New York: OHMYGODAKITTY!!
Young New Jersey, overdramatic : What did I say? It’s so hard to see such a young child suffer.
Gov: Tell me truthfully, how old do I look?
California, a people pleaser: You look not a day older than 24!
Texas, an honest soul: Around 32-ish?
Florida, the one who’s whole purpose is to flex his age: You look like you’re 10 to me.
Louisiana, who is too drunk to say anything relatively normal: Uh.. 53! Yeah!
New York, too tired to care: You look fine. Can we get back to the meeting now?
New York, boasting about his height: You wouldn’t believe what it’s like to live with these short fuckers.
New York: I mean just look at them!
New York: It’s like im Snow White with the.. *counting* 9, sometimes 10, little dwarves. And they’re all the grumpy one!
New York, arguing: You about the same size of one of “Santa’s Little Helper” yet you don’t even help the fatass!
New York, still: You fucking elves. Go make toys or something.
credits: me!!
I’ve been thinking abt these for a while
sorry they’re very NY-centric 😿
oh yeah I’m alive btw

Miles Edgeworth is both extremely perceptive about other people’s intentions and motivations, but also terrible at understanding how his own actions affect others. It’s quite an interesting nuance that I think is often overlooked.
When Edgeworth returns in 2-4, he is already aware of what Phoenix is lacking as an attorney before he even knows the full extent of Phoenix's crisis (Maya being kidnapped). In their first conversation, Edgeworth says: "In order to understand this case, you have to understand a certain "truth"". He knows that Phoenix's current motivation for being a defense attorney is flawed (cue his "we are not heroes" line). However, at the same time Edgeworth doesn’t fully understand how his actions of disappearing have affected both Phoenix and Franziska.
Another very obvious example of this is in AAI (I think?). In response to Kay asking: “Have you guys not decided if you are going out, or is it just one sided?” Edgeworth says: “‘Decided’…? Shouldn’t the parties involved naturally just know…?” Edgeworth thinks people in a relationship should instinctively perceive the feelings of the other person without communicating. He doesn’t consider the possibilities of misinterpretation or misunderstanding.
So in the context of Wrightworth, essentially what I'm saying is that unless something like fear is holding him back, Miles definitely knows about Phoenix's feelings. It's Phoenix who's off somewhere deluding himself.

Very normal and calm about how others perceive my favourite character
Tumblr media
Hmmkay so:
Devineaux is Not dumb. Well, he's not *dumb* dumb.
Hes loud, dense, arrogant, stubborn, impulsive, egotistical and obnoxious, yes. But he's not dumb.
He believes things based in hard fact, physical and literal evidence and stone cold logic (atleast in his perspective). A huge factor why it took him so long to understand how carmen wasn't the evil doer she was assumed to be, is because of his very thick brick wall sort of thought process:
'This elusive smug woman is stealing. Stealing is bad. I must stop her from stealing. At the end of the day, any sort of motive or excuse you could make up for her Does Not matter because. She's Stealing. And as previously stated- Stealing=Bad.'
Whereas Julia is alot more curious and spares more thought in the 'why' aspect of things, and following reasonable yet sorta hard to straight up prove theories- Why is Carmen Sandiego stealing precious artifacts, only to then soon after, slip them back to the authorities? Might she be stealing from other thieves? The only logical motive for that would be to protect the said precious artifacts from the other thieves. And on and on.
Devineaux, truth be told, doesn't care. He's very much stuck on the "stealing things only to return them makes Absolutely no sense" (given the default assumption she's taking them for monetary value, why would she willingly give them back?? Boom, theory busted, cry about it.)
Other than the observation that two people can veiw one thing very differently (with both looking and focusing on different parts, individual interactions with carmen, with devineaux it's her strictly making smug small talk, and evading him- but with Julia she's *Alot* more friendly, passive and semi-includes her in the caper)
There are more factors to keep in mind.
General knowledge:
A note that we tend to forget quite frequently is that- Carmen sandiego I an internationally known figure. Dare i say a myth- cryptid even! All the common knowledge about her is her signature colour, hat and coat. So like, imagine your tasked yourself as the one to catch the woman the myth the legend, while your partner keeps trying to suggest there's more to the very simple picture. "Maybe she's doing it for a good cause"! Uh. Not sure about that bucko.
Incredibly unlikely, from all her rare moments of talkativeness, she seems to fit rather nicely in the 'stereotypical criminal who thinks their better than the law' type behaviour.
It's alot like trying to psychoanalyise DB Cooper. Who cares??? I'm just trying to find and capture her first! We can deal with the explanation and 'why' part after.
And another point:
Its a clearly made point, that Devineaux is a flawed individual. Very heavily implied and shown, with the little of the pov we see of him.
But! Thats just it! The entire show, as is its namesake, is 90% Carmen Sandiegos own personal view. We, the audience, see things from her perspective, as we have been spoon fed the basic information about the basic premise of the plot that surrounds and personally entails her. And with this pov, we see others the way she does. Julia is the unlikely ally, vile the biggest threat, acme the main antagonists and- well, devineaux isnt really all that relevent, compared to everything and everyone else carmen and team red have to face off against.
Because of this, he's painted as an inconvenient, and brutish obstacle. Purely in the way for reasons we and carmen know to be false- so it's very easy to just think thats How he is in his entirety! But he's not. Let's not forget:
Not Only is this guy a full blown Inspector, But, it's explicitly shown that he has the deductive reasoning, and skill with the process of elimination to (ONLY USING INTERPOL RESOURCES. NO ACME NEEDED!) Find viles home based!! Sure, by then it's Formerly home base as they blew up a whole 60% of it quite recently, but!!! Dude!!! Chief, the literal head and founder of acme, who's been looking for any trace of vile for twenty years couldn't even dream of managing such a feat!
Tldr: devineaux isn't stupid, he's just plauged by ego brain fog, extremely unlucky timing and lack of impulse control.

If Morro didn't actually die and made amends with the Ninja, I think that he would definitely become that overprotective cousin character to Lloyd.
Think about it. He had full, uncensored access to Lloyd's thoughts and experiences. He does NOT want anyone to hurt his poor, sad, perpetually lonely-feeling cousin ever again. Not physically, nor verbally, and not emotionally.
Overprotective Morro.

There’s two lines Claude has - in his C support with Dimitri - that perfectly encapsulate why the “He’s like this because he didn’t have Byleth/his time in the academy to guide him to being good” reasoning makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, that he says regarding the Central Church/Rhea: “Who steals your freedom and gives you an endless list of duties and obligations simply because you have a Crest? Who forces your friends into a bunch of unwanted marriages and positions of power?”
Now, keep in mind, this is what Claude says are two of his core motivations into taking down the Church and/or killing Rhea (mostly the second). The problem with that tho is that it goes directly against what Claude has personally experienced; just about everything we know about him should not just not have him have this belief, but actively believe the opposite of it.
And no, not just because of 3H. I’m talking about it doesn’t make sense for him to have it according to 3Hopes, as a standalone game, as well.
So, like, hey, um, how do we know Claude? Like how it is that we, like, physically see Claude at all? Why is he in Fodlan? Oh, yeah, it’s because he chose to come over here, of his own volition:
Tumblr media
And he chose to come over here to become the leader of the Alliance so that he can make his dreams come true:
Tumblr media
As in, before he met Byleth or entered the Academy, Claude came here because he wanted to come here. No Crest forced him to take up this position, or to take up any list of duties and obligations, he literally chose to do all of that himself. And in fact, even with his Crest, he still needed the help of Crestless Judith to even be legitimized as heir, even though he logically would’ve been tested for having a Crest once he came over. And the way we know this is... because Claude says so, explicitly:
Tumblr media
(and because I’m just nice like that we’re also gonna ignore how Lorenz literally says that having a Crest isn’t enough proof for Claude’s legitimacy for being heir and that it’s his noble disposition that is more important - keeping strictly to stuff that happens before Byleth/the academy)
So, like, cool fundamental aspects of Claude’s background go directly against what he is saying is true about this shit, that’s fine. Sure, yeah, he complains about being forced to take up an unwanted position of power that he literally came to Fodlan to get because he wanted it, that’s cool cool that’s fine that’s WHATEVER I guess. But that’s 3H - what about 3Hopes as a standalone game, like I said?
Well, regardless of either game, Claude is. Like. Almyran royalty. You know, Almyra, that place that isn’t Fodlan and so does not have Crests and yet still has a nobility system of some sort. Like, there’s a reason Claude never talks about Crests causing noble troubles in 3H like many other characters do, he’d have experience as foreign royalty with the idea of Crests, like... not causing royalty or nobility. So, uh, there’s that lil detail. But let’s go even further!
There’s a few little details about the world of Fodlan that 3Hopes throws at us, right? Some might, uh, directly go against canon of 3H, but whatever - talking about strictly 3Hopes here! And what is revealed in strictly 3Hopes? Which important figure is revealed to not have a Crest? And which important character does have a Crest?
Holst and Hilda.
Crestless Holst and Crested Hilda.
Heir of House Goneril, guardian of the border, renowned general known about all of Fodlan, Crestless Holst, and “seems like she had a pretty cushy life growing up. Which means she’s gotten into the habit of slacking off and making others do things for her” Crested Hilda.
Holst, the Crestless one with all of the duties and obligations, the one with the position of power, and Hilda, the Crested lazy slack-off who does nothing AS DESCRIBED
BY CLAUDE HIMSELF.
SO, COOL, HE HAS DIRECT EVIDENCE AGAINST THIS BELIEF OF HIS AND ACKNOWLEDGES THE EXISTANCE OF HOLST’S LACK OF A CREST IN THEIR SUPPORTS AND YET SAID BELIEF IS A CORE MOTIVATION AS TO HIM KILLING RHEA AND TAKING DOWN THE CHURCH. He himself does not embody this belief. He himself is also, technically, proof against this belief.
And IN 3HOPES, he takes on more responsibilities than his position warrants from him! In his supports with Leonie he asks her to keep him in touch with what the commoners of Leicester have problems with, because his position stops their voices from reaching his ears. HE SAYS THAT. THAT COMES FROM HIS MOUTH. His position prevents him from taking on this responsibility, and he WILLINGLY CHOOSES TO TAKE IT ON ANYWAY. It’s something that he says is his priority above winning the war DESPITE it not being something his position allows! THAT DOESN’T SOUND VERY FORCED TO ME.
And none of this is addressing the completely out-of-pocket accusation of forcing marriages, which not only does literally no one accuse the Church of doing, IT’S SOMETHING THAT, ON AG, PEOPLE ACCUSE DIMITRI OF DOING. THE GUY CLAUDE IS TALKING TO IN THIS INSTANCE. That Dimitri arranges political marriages for the sole purpose of benefitting from the strengthened family ties - the second part is wrong, but Dimitri does in fact arrange marriages between families, at least once. But then Dimitri says that he agrees with Claude on his accusations against the Church?? But, whatever, not about that, dumb as that is.
So what, exactly, is the fuckin’ problem here? Where the fuck does this idea even come from? It goes against his 3H character, and it can’t even stand up straight in the game it is introduced in. It is shot down at about every single conceivable level possible, and most of the bullets are shot from the gun that Claude himself is holding. And all of this shit predates any meeting with Byleth or his time in the academy - that has nothing to do with all of the shit this attitude (and his behavior overall) contradicts in both 3H and 3Hopes. And again - core motivation here! These are the first two things he says are his reason to do what he does against the Church when asked about it - which include all of the terrible shit he pulls against Faerghus in GW. SO happy to know that he does such blatantly evil shit for reasons that HE HIMSELF proves are wrong!! Love that for him 💞💞💞 end me

forever sick and tired of the way tiktok teens and society in general treat homeless people. yes, I'm sorry the man thats been violently rejected from society and denied his human dignity was rude to you that one time, but jesus christ please just have an ounce of empathy. homeless folks are, surprise, actual people, with personalities and preferences and dietary restrictions. homless people are allowed to not like certain foods. their control over their lives has literally been stripped away from them, atleast give them the choice of what they eat. all of the comments on this post are people fantasizing about harassing a disenfranchised person because he was mean. just because a homeless person wont play into your weird savior fantasy doesnt mean theyre undeserving of food or money or even just basic decency. always remember that we are all just a couple bad days away from being just like them, on the streets with literally nowhere safe to stay, being judged by well-off white women masquerading as progressive activists and expecting you to act like theyre mother theresa.

i used to think that "world events influence not only the art we create but also how popular said art is because certain themes and ideas resonate with us when we live through particular events, and this happens both consciously and subconsciously" was a pretty obvious take that didn't even really need to be said but then i spent literally five minutes on the lord of the rings subreddit and apparently not!

My favourite thing about history classes, is the characters that you create around these historical figure. For example, because me and my friends have been talking about Stephen douglas so much when learning about the run-up to the American civil war, we see him as this little man jumping up and down for attention from anyone, and then people shout at him when they notice him, cuz he's being annoying.
