14. Bodyguard AU || 46. Blind date

Random choice generator got me creativisleep!

roman's a semi-popular actor- he's never really been to an awards show, and he's not been in That much, but he had a small but strong role in a real popular film and plenty of leading ones in lesser known movies. he's got enough of a following to be satisfied with himself, even if it isn't That huge of one

because of this, roman didn't take the possible dangers of his fame seriously... until he got jumped by one fan at a play in his hometown. he came out fine (he's always fine ;p) but it made him reconsider his choice to not have some sort of protection

he ends up hiring remy to be his bodyguard, a choice he Slightly starts regretting when he realizes remy, despite having excellent marks out of bodyguard school, is about as professional as a golden retriever

they take roman's food out of his fridge Whenever, borrow Way too many of his shirts (and roman hasn't seen his BMC 'boyf riends' hoodie since they got their hands on it), and is never in typical bodyguard wear (they wore a suit for the interview and never again)

but they also bring roman coffee (when did they get his regular figured out...?), talk to him like he's just a Person and not a celeb, and have yet to try and kill him themself so. roman's alright with them staying

(plus, is it so wrong if roman enjoys how they look? he deserves for a bit of an eye-candy sorta bodyguard, damnit, they're with him all the time after all)

remy's been with roman as his bodyguard for a few months when roman decides he cant just keep Lookin at a pretty person, he deserves to have a pretty person to kiss and cuddle with too!! so he pokes around for a bit, finds a non-homophobic service (he's pan, so he could Technically use a plain ol' straight service, but he refuses on gay principle), and uses it

idk how datin apps work but this one that im makin up is a blind match up app, which takes ur information and uses it to randomly pair u up with random accounts. the app keeps account info privated until After the first date has been gone on, to really maintain the 'blind match' aspect. the matched up people play a mini guessing game through the app about places they can go for a date until location and time is determined

roman likes the idea of the app mostly to keep his own identity secret as long as possible- he doesnt want people pickin his account Just bc he's a celeb, y'know?

the first couple of blind dates dont go well tho... most are nice people who roman just isn't compatible with, one was a straight woman who spent the entire date being Very homophobic despite roman's rainbow heart + pan flag pins, and someone who was clearly Too Much Of A Fan (remy had to physically pull them off of roman and help him escape the park before they could latch back on)

oh, did roman not mention? remy's been coming on all his dates with him

because of course they are! they need to protect roman! whether that's by eating dinner in the booth over or sitting two rows back at the cinema or awkwardly half-stalkin roman and his date while they walk about

so they're always there, to bring roman there and take him home, and listen when he complains about the bad matches and lament the almost-winners, and convince him he is a catch that needs to try again because eventually Someone will realize he really is too good to pass up

(remy always says that line in a weird way)

so he keeps trying... until roman has possibly the worst date ever

because he gets stood up. it's fifteen minutes past the scheduled date time, he's gotten no text explainin where they are, but he's sittin at the restaurant alone and starting to become rather upset by the pitying look the server gives him when he says he's still waitin on someone else before he orders

remy slides into the seat across from him at the 20 minute mark. shoots roman an apologetic smile that an outsider would mistake as a 'sorry im late' one when roman knows it's a 'sorry they didnt show' one

roman appreciates the gesture to save him, but he almost just wants to go home at this point. he's tired and bein stood up feels like Shit, actually, and he's about ready to call off the whole dating thing really, dramatic as that may be (like it's not his middle name)

but remy says smth about this place having really good sandwiches, and it's clear they're tryin so hard to help roman out here, even a little, and roman can't just dismiss that effort, so he picks up his menu again and orders smth and tries to ignore the way his face heats up just the slightest at the relieved smile remy flashes next

lunch with remy is great, actually, better than it would've been with whoever couldnt be bothered to show or apologize or Anything. remy even knows the way to an ice cream shop on the way home, sayin it's for roman's 'broken heart' as they pay for it

except, well... roman's heart isn't feelin so broken anymore

it's actually feeling pretty put together. really functional. functioning really fast. especially when roman's looking at remy. or when remy's lookin at roman. or when they smile. or when they laugh. or when they speak. or when they-

roman doesn't fall asleep until 2am that night, heart still racing a bit, screaming into his pillow a bit as he acknowledges he is wholly and totally head-over-heels for his bodyguard

he tells remy the next day he's done with dating for a bit, saying he's still upset over being stood up. he doesn't mention that it's also bc remy's ruined all other people for him

things try to fall back in routine from there, but it's a bit harder when roman's trying to not be so in love with someone who just works for him. and remy's definitely started pickin up on it too- they had asked him just last if he was okay, that he didn't seem as upset by remy takin his clothes anymore, and that didn't seem like him, was he getting sick?

the opposite, actually, absolutely nothing makes me feel better then seeing you walk around in my shirt or jacket or whatever else, please never stop and also kiss me?

roman just said he was tired

eventually... roman decides this can't keep going on. remy's giving him more weird looks these days, and roman is pretty sure being around remy so much without Any kisses is starting to cause brain decay (it's not, it's really not, remy always bein on his mind is just a side effect of.... pretti........). so, he takes matters into his own hands

admittedly, maybe firing remy wasn't the best way to go, given remy immediately demands to know why, what they did wrong, even asking if roman's being blackmailed into this

"blink once for yes, twice for no" remy asks, lowering the sunglasses they always have on to look directly at roman's eyes

roman doesn't blink for a full minute. he might not be breathing for that minute either. has he ever seen remy's eyes this close? has he ever seen them at all? they're such a brilliant shade of brown. roman could drown in them. he might be already

roman's pretty sure he started this conversation standing up, but maybe not, because when he finally blinks and remembers things outside of remy's eyes exist he's sitting down and remy looks extremely concerned

"okay... what's wrong, hun?" they ask, and oh no, they look so sad, and worried, and that's not good, roman should fix that right now, regardless of whatever he was doing before (he's forgotten)

"im gay" he responds intelligently. this will fix everything

remy, however, just looks confused. "yes?"

"for you" roman adds, helpfully, sure that Now remy will understand they're just really very pretty and nothing's wrong and if they feel bad still they should look in a mirror because then they'll be good again

now it's remy's turn to sit in silence, expression frozen in one of shock. they still havent put their sunglasses back on, so roman doesnt mind, bc this gives him more time to stare at remy's eyes

"you're having a breakdown because you're gay for me???" remy finally asks, expression unfreezing to look incredulous and a little hurt

roman returns a similar look. "im not having a breakdown!"

remy scoffs. "yeah, sure, right, that's why you suddenly froze and completely stopped breathing and minorly collapsed after i... look off my shades to look at you..." they suddenly break out in a smirk. "oh my gods, you're a gay disaster"

roman doesn't try to deny it, especially with the knowledge he apparently did stop breathing to admire remy's eyes. they have a point

"how long?"

"since that date you hijacked after i got stood up" roman admits. he finds it extraordinarily rude when remy starts laughing

...until they're pulling out their phone, hurriedly opening up the exact same dating app roman had been using, showing a log of all the dates they had planned- there's only one marked as having actually been attended

same date time and place of the one where roman had assumed he had been stood up

"you broke my heart!" roman says as remy puts away their phone, over-dramatically, not actually giving a damn, just feeling gay and a bit giddy at the thought remy hadnt gone to any of the other dates, just theirs

no longer worried quite as much about roman for the moment, remy's smirk just grows, smoothly moving from being crouched in front of roman to being set firmly in his lap, lazily brushing hair out of his eyes and wow was remy always this warm? and stunning? and perfect?

"i dunno babe... sounds more like i stole it" remy teases, movin from playing with roman's hair to cuppin his cheek, leaning in close and not even bothering to pretend to be looking at anything other than roman's lips. "which, yeah, bad bodyguard etiquette... i hope you can forgive me..."

roman doesn't need his words to answer that tease

-johnny was actually pretty civil with danny and left when he asked! thats nice. also, SKULKER?? HAD A FRAMED PICTURE OF EMBER?? oooo fuck wait had they established they were a Thing Before?? I dont think so. thats weird. its like that country boy/goth girl meme lmfao. I think i am going to choose to ignore this new info and pretend I didnt hear it. 100% unrelated to the jazz/ember fanart I already drew and posted....😳

-THEY ERASED ALL THE MEN??? meanwhile, jack and danny are fishing at. silent hill or something. im glad jack is trying to read a parenting book and making an Attempt. (theyre at lake erie, but, they made it actually eerie...thats fun)

I mean I guess them being a council/jury of some kind is what I expected from their first appearance (bc at that time they were basically TELLING clockwork to kill danny, not asking,, so I figured they had SOME kind of authority) but. there were so many. anyway, here goes vlad! letting his own hubris go brrrr. releasing a weather ghost for political gain! #justvladthings

-okay say what you will about him (he IS an asshole) but having an umbrella with his own face on it and more prepared to share is SUPER FUNNY. and him being fanned by huge wads of money by his bodyguards. SO ineffective but so Dramatic. He UNDERSTANDS that if youre rich you need to be. you know. obnoxious and kinda eccentric about it! fuckign hate when rich people are boring about it. I would trust vlad with nothing except to not be a boring rich asshole who wears...fucking khaki or some shit. man knows his Presentation Skills. and that 'V' chair in his mayoral office. is that fucking embroidered?

I kinda assumed business because in the masters of time ep he was still rich without ghost powers so he had to have..known something about business or something, right...but also, art and or theater FITS HIS PERSONALITY. possibly also something science-y, I guess, but I always felt like he got roped into that, esp how pessimistic he was about the ghost portal in the flashbacks to college, like, i felt like he was just there for maddie and was uninterested/un-invested at the time...)

-NEXT EP WE HAVE A SHAPESHIFTING GHOST?? I've said it before but shapeshifting is the power I would want when asked those 'what superpower do you want' questions...its the Best power! this guy looks like a homestuck character. ive never read homestuck but thats the vibe

-I love every time we see tuckers family, they are by far the most functional family. and dash has a lil chihuahua!!! named pookie!!! i am crying (I've had 3 chihuahuas, so I am very biased, but...) AND HE WATCHES THE ROMANCE CHANNEL WITH POOKIE. POOKIE I WILL DIE FOR YOU YOU SWEET LITTLE BABY.

-the impromtu story made up by danny and amorpho to explain stuff to the fentons. my god they are both such bad liars. but amorpho is a good egg. wish danny wouldnt have said he didnt wanna see him in town again!! I want him to be reoccurring. not that thats gonna matter since I'm almost done with the series, but the idea of this being the Only Time We See him is :(

-NEXT EP SAYS STARRING MARK HAMILL??????!!! hello ! mr . joker....mr. star wars.... I feel like I should be. idk. taking off a hat im not wearing in respect. I shouldnt be surprised tho bc hes in a lot of cartoons as a very good voice actor, and dp has already had a lot of talented ones so I've been looking out for ones I might know, but....mr. hamill....

-sam has her own greenhouse, names all the plants, and says thank you to them (in the languages from where the plants are from) whenever she harvests from them. thats SO cute. and her lil gothy lunch box...

-and danny's lil red fuzzy lined jacket!!! ive said it before but every time the characters get alt outfits im like :D

-EURGH UNDERGROWTH MAKING EVERYONE PLANT ZOMBIES. HIVEMIND PLOTS SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME. and this dude made the city SO overtaken so quickly like how long was danny asleep?? oh god

-evil fucked up sam! now the whole trio has gone evil at some point! the voice actress did a really, really good job with making her sound like a zombie...

-frostbite's paws are so so so big compared to danny. oh my god. i want to hug the snow dog...

-the far frozen has an advanced medical stuff!!! very cool. very smart snow dogs

-im so glad danny has a friendly ghost snow dad to explain this new power and teach him!!! this is so sweet. DANNY'S GHOST SENSE WAS A PART OF HIS ICE POWER?? OOOH. COOL. we love a training montage!!!

-danny saying if he cant defeat overgrowth, that he'd want to stay with frostbite...oh my god...do you think this is the first real supportive adult figure in his life (I am NOT counting his parents because they threaten him on the daily even if they dont realize it.) I mean mr lancer is a Teacher, but he was also nice but this is different, but this is a GHOST WHO IS WILLING TO HELP HIM with his powers and also will help him when hes injured and is so so nice and comparatively so much more mature than 90% of the adults in this show!!!! god. dad frostbite is my everything.

-the framing and lighting this episode, and all the angles...they went all OUT and it looks really really good. this is my nightmare scenario, tho. like, FUCK zombies and dead city zones and hivemind shit. and using the humans as 'nutrients for the children' i am going to THROW UP.

-MALEFICENT VIBES WITH THE HORNS AND GREEN EYES! this costume kicks so much ass. sam is now mark hamills daughter, I guess.

-danny's ice powers making his eyes blue!!! thats neat. and him going for the roots underground was SO SMART. i will not stand for danny ever thinking hes stupid, hes SO smart.

session 63 end

okayyy. neat-fucking-o. thats done and boy OH FUCKING BOY i have a lot to say. and this is going to get mildly serious. sorry. theres a lot to uncover this session which basically is just one huge overall plot point. the whole timeline shindig. the thing that has messed me up for a few hours ngl.

man.... this is gonna be a long one. im not even exaggerating. (still, a tldr at the end)

so, the main thing besides from the time shindig plot, which is both important and essential and precious: DAVESPRITE <3

k cool. ill expand on that throughout this whole note, but would rather like to make a whole analogy first before i do so.

so, to start off from last session, dave went back in time to fix jade and john’s death.

but i guess, from what ive read, GC never realized what she did was bad. she basically screwed everyone over and dave had to go back to fix things, which yes, does sound bad. but honestly? i dont think she really realized how bad it was until davesprite had the talk with her. and now they are both friends i take it, shocking development. but thats between davesprite, rather than dave himself so there may be two different views on how he sees GC. anyways, it was pretty bad. i wont just forget that. i love her character but she killed off two characters (who thankfully are now alive), making dave a sprite and future rose to just not exist anymore. or... well.... she does, but she seemed to have fused with PRESENT rose. which i guess we’ll figure out how that works the next time we see her. which will probably be on derse.

but, tbh, GC wanted to apologize and felt bad about the whole situation. so im giving her the benefit of the doubt here.

can i take a second to analyze davesprite? and a little bit about the concept of john/dave’s friendship (just a tad)? ie the two greatest things in the world? thanks.

i think the thing that hit me the hardest was how davesprite (im calling him that to distinguish which dave im talking about but keep in mind i should be calling them both dave. but this makes it easier to write up.) well, davesprite explained how he’d continue to reset the timeline until john and jade are alive. which basically means he would use himself as a sacrifice to allow their survival. which ALSO means he cares more for them than he does himself. he’d throw his life away for them. he knew there was a possibility of him ceasing to exist if they reset the timeline again. he literally said it in such a nonchalant way that it makes me wonder how much his friends really mean to him. which in retrospect, is a lot. now pls keep this in mind for the next part.

now, dave also has so much appreciation towards himself. but not in the cocky way, of course. rather in the way that shows self love?? kinda?? like he genuinely wanted to hang with davesprite, brainstorm his comic and vice versa bc they both think their alt version is that cool. i know it should sound kinda narcissistic, but listen. a lot of people dont often appreciate themselves for who they are. and what i really want to emphasize on that here, is that this comes back to the whole putting himself before others thing. because that specific line i mentioned before is a BIG FUCKING DEAL. since dave thinks so highly of himself as a cool guy, rad dude, arent we so awesome type kid that he LITERALLY didnt care for his life in that one hot second. he made sure he was a pawn used to help out his friends rather than an actual human being who should worry about his life as well. he didnt care if he survived or not in the process of making sure everything was going alright. which is such a fucking leap from this whole self-respecting thing. its as if that didnt matter anymore. and that takes a fucking beating. that shows how much dave truly loves his friends. do you know how fucking BIG THAT WHOLE DEAL IS?

take john for example. dave didnt give two shits who the person on the other line was. he found out GC was the troll who killed john and basically threatened her with every inch of his life to make her back away from him. he knew what it would cause and said “fuck you” in bright and bold. all because he didnt want to see his friend die again. which? fair enough. and if we look back at the last session, god that could mess someone up. especially someone as young as 13. rose even got the worst end of the stick bc she flat out ceased to exist. but then again, thats in the same boat as jade/john. bc they all technically died. yet davesprite didnt. he remembers it. davesprite isnt just going to forget. he’s going to have surviver’s guilt for a long time, because being dave’s guide will forever be a reminder that he’s the version in the doomed timeline. he’s the only one who knows what happened, and he wont become the “true dave” in a sense that he’s now just considered “davesprite” and nothing more, since he cant just be dave since his timeline ended up fucked. not to mention he technically said he was fine with it, bc since it meant the others survived, he wouldnt care what happened to his life. even tho he should and it still probably hurts him idk. and that kills me a little. actually, more than a little. this is personally the most gut wrenching scene in homestuck (but i may just be speculating too much). but that wont stop him from helping dave and giving him all the answer, and also protecting john with everything he has.

and, man, i feel as if he’s gonna be such a good guide for dave. he already gave him the loot, the rundown and is very open about questions dave already has because he knows how tough it probably is to have a shitty guide. considering he was stuck with calsprite for 4 months. so obviously he’s going to help as much as possible. since he probably had little to none and didnt learn as much as he should have through the course of sburb. but now, as a guide, he can easily access all the info he lost during the pathway of his timeline. and share it with dave so he doesn’t struggle and actually completes the game rather than end up in a doomed timeline like himself.

but yes. dave’s blatant adoration for john basically saved them both in a way. and it seems as if its a little mutual considering john told dave he’d always believe him no matter what in the end. how he reconsidered everything, remembered the note and realized how good their friendship is to just give it up like that. and then vice versa. dave couldnt continue on the game without him or jade, so he went back in time. and showed his pissed-off protective side in order to save john again. which warms my heart bc they both mean so much to each other. and both got each other super sentimental gifts and wrote each other such touching cards.

and thats a good way to end the session, i think.

so there we have it. ive never wanted to hug a character so bad than i do with davesprite. i just hope everyone at least acknowledges him in some way, and gives him some amount of respect for what he did for everybody. ive only met him for like 10 pages, but i think he’s the most emotional character so far. and i guess since he’s dave himself, and i feel for dave based on his situation with bro, its safe to say i would protect him with my life. which i dont want to be *that* person but hey, its true. its just that he’s been through so much bullshit, and davesprite is the only survivor of his timeline, always will be reminded of it whenever he sees dave/john/rose/jade playing the game, is now a fucking sprite who wont be able to live his own path but just be a guide and god, i feel for him. i really do.

i shouldnt have written such a long note about davesprite.. but his whole story as to how he became a thing really got to me, alright?

i should write a tldr, cool. here yall go; i actually love davesprite, he’s been through some shit and he deserves hells of respect. GC is forgiven and we’ll find out next time how both version of rose.. fused together?

case study of optimization style: how kelsey piper optimizes to destroy coordination against injustice

her false face of "worrying about disrespecting jay", was the closest thing she could grab that she thought would get others to optimize for my silence. get local warm bodies to pile upon me for continuing to talk about how to get justice and give more information about different sources of injustice in a way compatible with people who have not completely disabled their general intelligence.

she was worried about her reputation and transfems gaining information that would allow them to coordinate along lines of shared oppression (which would start to erode miri/cfar which she wants to survive in order to have a nice (for her) environment to raise her babies), but thats not a socially defensible reason to object so she laundered it through being “worried about disrespecting jay”

(edit: this is what "is REACH basically CFAR's pet" pointing to, eg if they are pwned by the same things. rather than pointing to whether the two orgs are ostensibly related).

Similarly, discussion of REACH beyond what was needed for me to figure this out (about six lines of text) is not at all useful to me. But pointing this fact out to silence Somni suggests some sort of preference to defend REACH. So, if that's the algorithm you're running, then I see you as (probably) sorting people/discussion topics based on what you can socially get away with. Sort of like, the word "appropriate" is in the same class as "uppity" "disrespectful" "honorable" etc, and this applies to asking if it's "appropriate to discuss REACH despite Jay's preferences".

I personally do not participate in long conversations about who is "in the right", because I personally find it very easy to figure out what people are trying to do, and find that continuing on chats longer than that is a waste of my time. But, this is also Somni's space as a victim of Robert, so it's okay if she wants to discuss REACH I guess. I've never talked with her, but she (they?) seems to have good takes with respect to when someone is de facto hurting others or running bad algorithms in a way related to that.

so. had an interesting night. was getting gabe into bed when i heard a commotion at the front door, went out when done with gabe to investigate. mom's sitting in the living room, dad standing in the hallway, both listening to this girl on our couch. it was hard to tell how old she was, but i'd guess a couple years older than me, wearing great makeup with a designer(?) bag on her hip, talking a mile a minute about what apparently brought her to our door. at almost 1 am.

i only caught the tail end of her story, but it was disjointed and not much really added up. gist was that her ex boyfriend had been chasing her, and she sprinted until she found somewhere to hide, and hoped our lights being on meant someone was awake. she was texting her cousin to come pick her up as she told us this, in our house maybe 15 minutes total.

then she said she heard her cousin's car, and went out to see him. 2 cars were parked fairly far up the street, far enough we couldnt see people or plates. we heard her say "leave me alone!", then cars were maneuvering to leave.

now. that sounds fucking awful, and i wanted to call the cops just in case, but my parents said no, and here are a few reasons why.

one, the girl wasnt acting right through any of it. she never calmed, talking fast and fidgeting constantly, saying it was the adrenaline. never met any of our eyes more than briefly. and while that behavior alone certainly isnt bad (even if its apparently not typical for the situation she descrived, according to my psych nurse mother who'd been trying gently to help her calm down and de-escalate the entire time), it doesnt look good with the rest.

two, her story made absolutely no sense. while i only caught the end, mom recounted to me the basics, and it jumps all over the place. mom had been asking clarifying questions throughout, and her narrative jumped around and made no chronological sense. talked about giving her ex a ride to his hotel, but then he was harrassing her, so she called the cops and they didnt arrest him, but then she was at a gas station and ditched both him and her car to get away from him. and yet, somehow at the same time, she was at her cousin's house, who she also apparently ran away from. neither into the house or gas station, mind you, but instead down the road and into neighborhoods. she also was completely unable to tell us where this gas station was, because fun fact, there arent any within any kind of sprinting distance from our house. there was also an empty parking lot mentioned in there somewhere, of which there are very few around here, definitely not in sprinting distance either.

three, she used too many details where it didnt matter. now, this one was what made me switch into being suspicious of her; while it isnt a big deal, she was telling odd bits of info with her background that were completely unnecessary, and tripped my "she's lying" alarms, like her child's exact birthday, the job she had and lost with covid, that she lives with her grandmother. its not *abnormal*, but it didnt fit, i dont know how else to really explain except that it wasnt right.

four, she wouldnt tell us her cousin's name. casually asked, and her exact wording was "oh, he doesn't like giving his real name out to people". we asked so that we could vet if it was him before letting her out to him, for her safety.

five, she was adamant that she didnt want to call the cops, bc of how they didnt arrest him before so they wouldnt help now. which, completely on its own would be understandable, but with everything else? nah.

six, when we heard a car go past the house, she ran straight outside and up the street to it. this was despite us suggesting multiple times that she look through the window first to verify, that she wait for the car to come back down the street, or for us to go first and see if it was her cousin. no, she ignored allllll of that, going right out of any range where we could help her without a second thought, and then yelling before presumably being pulled into a car we couldnt see well. if this wasnt some kind of setup, then damn, she's really got no sense of self preservation.

all in all, it just felt wrong. her behavior, her story, the lack of details where it mattered but abundance where it didn't, the blatantly ignored advice on things that would keep her safe, the pointed distance of the cars from our house, everything. and in the end, there wasnt anything we could really report if we'd wanted to; that a girl came in, told us a story, then shouted and got in a car? it was too far (and too smokey, fucking wildfires) to even see how she entered the vehicle, whether she was pulled in or what. and there were 2; was it the ex boyfriend and also her cousin? how could boyfriend have found her here if she only sent the location to the cousin?

so. working theories are that maybe the core of her story was true, but the inconsistencies come from purposely avoided details; maybe drugs are involved? if so, it'd help explain her behavior, why she wouldnt give out her cousin's "real name", and why the story was so disjointed. unreliable narrator, or she was skipping incriminating details.

theory two (by my mom, which i personally dont agree with) is that she and her ex are in some dramatic sort of game thing, where she wants to be chased for the drama of it all. doesnt explain her weird story though.

theory three, this was all some kind of setup, with her "exboyfriend" and "cousin" being accomplices. only problem with that is, accomplices to *what?* she didnt steal anything, didnt gain anything from her time with us. sure, she saw inside the house a bit, couldve been keeping an eye out for valuables, but why us? we just happened to be awake at one in the morning for this? she wouldnt have been able to see anything worth stealing, anyway, aside from my mom's broken laptop maybe. all she would've learned is that there's 4 of us living here with a barking dog.

whatever it was, the worst case scenario is that she got grabbed by her ex, but the 2 cars and timing suggest highly that her cousin was literally right there too, meaning someone she seems to trust was witness and able to help her more than we could. just in case it was scoping for a robbery, we locked up the house tight and i have a crowbar.

more than anything it was just unnerving. in all likelyhood that'll be the end of it, but there's a chance that some other shoe will drop, and that's leaving all of us uneasy.

a quick guide to finding idol producer / qcyn merch in taipei

yesterday i went on an adventure in ximen to find merch! (mostly with the slight hope of finding nine percent stuff, since i was so sure that no other groups would be nearly popular enough, but i was pleasantly surprised!) here’s a quick rundown of my experience, in case anyone else is also interested in purchasing cpop (or kpop) merch in ximen :)

first, as suggested by my partner in crime @tanqram, i googled “台北偶像專賣店” (taipei idol merchandise store) and “台北偶像專賣店 nine percent” to get info on where to look and addresses for possible stores! one of the most helpful answers I found was: here and basically it lists the addresses of a bunch of stores and also says at the end that the stores in ximen often change, so they may not all exist anymore

with that in mind, i mapped out a route to the stores i wanted to check out, and luckily they’re all within like a 5 min walk of each other bc theyre all in ximending :) honestly i couldnt find a couple of them, so they may not exist, like that post said, or maybe im just blind HAHAHA i did end up looking through a couple of stores and was able to find ip / qcyn merch in 2 of them.

1. 偶像王 (Idol King) [address: 台北市漢中街50巷7號2樓, Taipei, Taiwan 108] would recommend!! this was the first one i came across out of the 2, and there was a lottt of kpop and cpop merch. photocards, mugs, pillows, bookmarks, wall scrolls, etc. there was a lot of nine percent, but also a good amount of unine and oner. they also had deng chaoyuan and yao chi stuff. i also saw some nex7 posters. i dont remember seeing anyone else from ip/qcyn. bc i saw jia yi (along with a lot of guan yue!? hahhahha) i asked the lady who was running the store if they had any mr.tyger merch. she said no, only the ones who made it (aka unine) (even tho there was some dcy / yao chi stuff LOL), but she offered to print me custom merch. customs posters (about 1 x 1.5ft) i believe were <$3 usd, (which was like double the cost of the preprinted posters) and she also mentioned she could print photocards, but i would have to buy them in a pack of 10 (im assuming they print out that way)

i ended up buying some stickers (<$2 usd) and posters and then asked her to print me 2 tyger posters, for which i sent her links to the photos via line message and she printed them out for me in like 5 mins. she was super nice!!! and yea dont expect like the highest quality photos and stuff bc this is obviously all fan-made merch but it was super cheap and i was just so amazed there was actually ip/qcyn stuff among all the kpop merch!!

2. 烏龍院藝術館 [address: 台北市武昌街二段61號2樓] there was mostly just nine percent merch here! two of the nongnong posters in the above photos were from this store. it felt like there was less stuff at this store, but they had a different variety of merch, like there was a nine percent backpack and they had various nine percent members’ necklaces (which I actually considered getting LOL) and keychains, bookmarks, desk calendars, photobooks, etc. along with the usual photocards, wall scrolls, etc.

i did not see merch for any other ip / qcyn kids, except (!!) there was a poster pack of qcyn kids from the first stage performances, so like there was a poster of each of the winning teams that got to perform on stage aka namanana team a, tarzan next door team a, etc. i almost gave in to the urge to buy this bc namanana linmo is iconic to me, but then i realized that each poster only included like 3-4 of the kids on each team and the rest were cropped out LOL so like zhuo yuan was missing from the namanana poster and the retreat poster literally only had shi zhan, li zhenning and sun zelin LOL. so.... since zhan yu, akey, and jin fan weren’t included and ye ziming also wasn’t (since he was on tarzan team b) i was like... am i really gonna spend $4 just so i can have a namanana linmo poster? HAHAHAH since the namanana one was the only one that really appealed to me, i thought about buying the pack and then just giving away the rest of the posters, but idk if anyone would want them??? if you’re interested / would be willing to pay for shipping, i could go back and buy it, like i said, its literally only the winning teams, and then probably the 4 most popular kids in each group that are included in the photo. for example, the tarzan team a poster was wenhan, guan yue, jia yi and hu chunyang only.

also, if anyone wants 2 nongnong posters (and maybe also 1 of the yanjun ones), im willing to give those away too LOL they were super cheap and i realized i probably dont need 4 HAHAHHA

others: there are a bunch of 五大唱片 (Five Music) stores all around, and they have kpop / cpop posters and cds, but i didnt see any related to ip or qcyn. 韓利塢 (hlwcorea) [address: 萬華區西寧南路 169 號 4F, Taipei, Taiwan 108] only had kpop merch and it was easy to miss, but it was there!

yea so basically the most important things i got out of this experience were that you can find nine percent merch in stores, mostly cxk, cln, fcc, justin, zzt merch was available, i found some random wzy, xg and yzj stuff and was surprised there wasnt more lyj. it is also possible to customize your own merch, so if you like a less popular group, there are still options.

tbh if you really want anything that ive mentioned in this post, let me know within the next few weeks and i could go back and buy it and ship it to you, but ill just ask you to pay for shipping :)

im considering going back to print out a solo linmo poster anyway, so i dont mind! (if anyone has smiley linmo photos to suggest to use for a poster, let me know!!!) oh and just for reference, i bought all of this merch for a total of maybe $16 usd, so tbh i thought it was a good deal! esp bc i got nongnong and tyger stuff aka my favorite children :’)

#this was a fun experience and i hope this guide helps!!! i was so excited when i walked into the store and saw nongnong photocards #and then a beautiful zzt poster i almost couldve cried #rants #nine percent #mine #i went in just expecting to get nongnong stuff but i came out with cln lyj yzj zzt and tyger stuff and im still so amazed!!#it was fun bc while the poster was printing i was talking to the lady and she asked me 'now that jia yi is in unine what will mr tyger do'#and i told her i think theyre gonna be releasing an album soon! (pls pls pls be the june surprise they keep talking about....)#and she was like oh really! and i also told her how jia yi will be rejoining tyger after unine disbands #i read an article of an interview with the star master ceo recently where he talked about this and that they 'wanted lin mo to debut'#idk if i believe that but he also said lin mo was so sick after qcyn ended and they gave them all time to recover which i do believe #since kou cong and lin mo were talking in a youthenergyf vlog about how linmo was hospitalized and had vomiting and diarrhea after qcyn :(#but anyway maybe i successfully convinced the store lady that tyger will (hopefully) be active and try to stay relevant thru jiayi's return!

Hoseok Scenario: Hearts Coming Home.

Request: Hey girls! for the christmas thingy, what about reader and Hobi meeting by accident at the airport? They were supposed to travel to visit their families, but bc of the weather or something like that the plane couldn't leave. So they decide to stick together :3 Btw, how have you been? I've noticed you've been inactive lately, so I hope you can solve whatever it's going on. Just keep being strong! love you girls, fighting!! <3

Genre: Fluff.

You rushed to the gate, you hadn’t heard the airport lady annoucing your flight but then you could have never been able to undertsand the voices of the airport speakers. So maybe you were late, and if boarding had started you were in trouble, well if boarding had ended you were doomed. The gift shops in the airports always caught your eyes and this time it was a necessary stop since you needed to grab a few last minute christmas gifts but spent way longer at the duty free than you intended. You were a little out of breath while walking down the hallway and wishing everything still worked according to plan since this was the only flight you could catch to reach Seoul on time for christmas because you had been in Busan for the past week because of work.

When you reached the gate area you saw the crowd gathered around so you thought that indeed the boarding had started but then you didn’t see the airline staff so that was weird. You approached a little and then was when you overheard that the flight might be delayed.

The crowd started to speak louder and then you saw a staff member coming your way. You trief to step closer to hear better, holding your bag but feeling the wieight starting to hurt your hand. -Excuse me- you said to a young guy that was standing next to just as confused. You put thE bag on the ground and listened. The flight had been delayed three hours because of the sudden bad weather, you sighed, that was a bummer, but three hours werent that much time and you could still be on time for christmas with your family. You’d be pretty tight on time but you thought you could pull it off if it was just three hours.

You were getting a little hungry so since you were stranded There for the time being might as well get something to eat. You wanted something healthy and nice but With your budget you were thinking that Mcdonalds was the right option. Sighing you got your bag and walked away.

You walked without any rush now. Thinking what a shame that you had rushed all the way here for nothing. At the end you settled for a starbucks toasted sandwich. You were munching on it when something caught your eye. You had your gift bag sitting on the other chair it had slided to the side a little bit and part of the content was visible now so you frowned letting your sandwich down. What?

You took out a pack of three tennis balls, you were certain that you hadnt bought that. More confused you went through the content of the bag to realize that none of it was yours.

-Oh my god-

You had grabbed the wrong bag. But when? You thought hard when, the only time you let go of the bag was when you were standing near the crowd at the gate area. You thought hard on it and then you remembered the guy next to you had a bag just like yours. This one had to be his and surely he had yours.

- Shit - you exhaled, now you had to rush to find him.

You finished your sandwhich quickly much to your discomfort, you were walking looking around, but what if he had left.? No that wasn’t possible, he was there so he was most probably waiting for the same flight as you. You thought about your luck, way to go for a cheerful holiday spirit, not only your flight had been delayed but now you had lost your christmas gifts. Great.

Thankfully the airport wasn’t that big, those were Hoseok’s thoughts as he walked around looking for the girl who had taken his bag. He had noticed around fifteen minutes ago that he was holding the wrong bag, and he remeered you placing your bag right next to his so he guessed you had to be the one who took his bag away.

He had gone to almost every store around looking for you but he didn’t catch a glimpse of you, so at the very last he had decided to go back to the waiting area of your gate since he guessed you’d get back to it eventually. Hoseok sat on a visible spot and looked around, then he saw you coming also turning your head in every direction. Most probably looking for him. That made him smile for some reason, you had probably walked past each other without realizing.

He stood up and lifted his hand to get your attention as he approached you. You exhaled relieved and smile a bit awkwardly.

-Hi- you smiled again. -I’m sorry this must be your bag-

Hoseok couldnt help but smile too. -Its ok, it was just a mistake-

You lAughed a little. -Yeah this delayed flight thing has gotten on my nerves so I dont know where I have my head-

-Yeah same, it’s such a bummer that the flight got delayed, but at least there’s still hope-

-Well here you have it, let’s try to not get confused again- you both laughed and switched bags. -I was a bit shocked when I saw the tennis balls, I was like, I didnt bought that-

Hoseok laughed. -Oh those, it would have been terrible to lose it, that’s actually a gift to myself-

-So you play tennis-

-Yes!- he smiled even brighter making you feel a bit fuzzy inside, he had a cute smile. -I do, it’s one of my hobbies when I get free my time of my dancing and the other stuff in my life-

-Are you a dancer?-

-Yeah I actually…-

Hoseok stopped midsentence because a group of people was passing by your side and almost bumped you so he lightly grabbed your arm and pulled you away from them. You were a bit startled but thankful for the gentle gesture.

-Thanks-

-No, you’re welcome sometimes people go like crazy in airports, why…- he smiled and stared at you a bit more shyly. -why dont we go grab a coffe since we are waiting for the same flight anyway, I mean it’s ok if you dont want to, I just think it would be nice to wait with someone, I…- he laughed notably nervous so you giggled a little.

-That sounds nice-

You went back to Starbucks where you had warm drinks and a treat. Hoseok was very nice, he was chill and easy to talk with, he was also very handsome. He was the kind of guy who was beautiful in a very refreshing way, effortlessly, his hair was deep red that complimented him very much and he explained to you that he chose the red for a recent show in which he was going to perform. You talked about both your lives, finding that you had several things in common so the time flew by until the three hours that you were suppossed to wait passed, so you decided to go back to the gate to investigate.

At first you were the only ones standing by but just like before people crowded around waiting for new info, hopefully saying that the plane had arrived. The staff came again but news weren’t so bright. The bad weather was still very much present and the flight might stay delayed until the weather cleared up and it was secure to fly, so practically they were saying you were going to be stuck at the airport indefinitely. People wasn’t happy and complains could be heard. You looked at Hoseok not knowing how to react, this might mean that you were going to miss Christmas with your family.

-This sucks, can they even do this?-

Hoseok sighed. -They can, maybe weather it’s bad for real, we just need to wait for a little longer-

-Is your family waiting for you at Seoul?-

He nodded. -Yes, they are there for Christmas, I was excited to see my noona, and you? Your family is waiting or maybe a boyfriend…?-

-Oh no, nothing of that, just my family-

Hoseok chuckled. -So we both are single-

-On Christmas day-

Both of you laughed and went to sit together again.

To distract yourselves from the bad news you went for a little tour after some time around the stores taking the freebies of coffee and chocolates that stores gave and checking out the christmas stores. Hoseok was a funny guy, he didn’t hesitate to try on the tacky christmas hats, the reindeer horns, the santa’s elves and he even put on a santa claus hat with the fake beard and everythig. It made you forget about being lonely on Christmas because you didn’t feel lonely with him making you laugh with his sense of humor.

It was eleven on Christmas Eve and you were sitting on the waiting area yet again, only that this time both of you were wearing matching santa hats.

You were thinking where to eat since it was getting really late and chances were you were spending Christmas there.

-Well if we dont get home on time, at least we are spending Christmas with each other and you are a pretty good company-

You smiled at that, if you had been alone you would had felt way more sad than now. You felt bad that you weren’t with your family, but you had to admit that this didn’t turn out so bad.

The speakers went on and suddenly announced that passangers of your flight had to go to a different gate. Your plane had finally arrived and apparently the weather was good enough to travel.

Hoseok and you walked there together seeing the people already forming the lines the flight attendants were organizing. You were on the same line so you waited together for your turn, you couldn’t believe your luck. You had been waiting for the plane all this time but now that it was there it made you realize that you didn’t really want to leave Hoseok’s side because you had already warmed up to the idea of spending Christmas with him. It was a little crazy to think that you could get so attached to someone in that short spam of time but there was just something about him that told you that with him Christmas would be special.

You got on the plane finding that Hoseok wasn’t sitting beside you but he inmediatly asked a lady to trade seats and she very gladly obliged.

-Of course, I wouldn’t dare to split such a lovely couple on Christmas Eve- She said, so after all you ended up sitting side by side.

The plane was about to take off, both of you wrote to your familes and then Hoseok looked at you with a smile on his face.

You looked down at your phone and saw it was already twelve oclock. After all you did get to spend Christmas with him. -Merry Christmas Hoseok-

of madness and truth: the dark future details

i was going to do this in two sections cause i do wanna go through the present parts of the fic as well. mainly exactly why avia is torturing herself by wanting to see the simulation, why she decides to tell grier, and why osiris helps her. also, why osiris saw the simulation and what my perception of his opinions on toland are.

but im too excited to share all the dark future ideas i have so uhh here you go @mrpinstripesuit if you have anything to add please please go for it!!

man why do we like torturing our kids aha

(also i broke it down like, a lot a lot not to be patronising but because i didnt wanna overwhelm people with bullet points aha)

“I guess I’ll have to explain it to you, like usual,” Grier says. “Since we killed Oryx? Three years. Since you snuck into my throne world and tried to kill me? Two and a half years. Since you killed Toland and trapped yourself in the Hive Overworld? Two years.”

three years: back in ttk days, grier chose to become the taken king after they killed oryx, so the rest of the clan had to get out of dodge and leave him.

two and a half years: avia was very, very lost after that happened, and sought grier out by herself (and against the advice of literally everyone) just to talk to him. but, toland being the piece of shit he is, intercepted her and wouldn’t let them meet. then he convinced grier that she’d come to kill him and toland stopped her. avia then convinces herself that if she figures out how to kill toland, grier will be okay.

two years: in the split second after avia killed toland, in a complete panic grier trapped her in the overworld. he was the one who scratched the runes into the wall, theyre basically a strong but hurried version of the hive traps.

the scene itself, the timeline that present avia sees is set just after the events of d2, around the time the savathuns song strike would have been undertaken. it’s the first time they’ve spoken since avia killed toland, but avia knows grier was responsible for trapping her. him telling her that shes there because she killed toland is the first notion that he’s there to lie to her to get her on his side, because he’s in denial and needs to know if savathun is actually coming to the system. hes not sure he’s strong enough to take her on, so he needs avia to take on the role of toland (or something advantageous to him at least) to give him an advantage. so he lies through his teeth.

“Yes – no,” Avia retches. “The singing,” she spits. “All she does is sing and sing and I can’t take it anymore!”

“Who?” Grier asks, sharp. “Who sings, Avia?”

Avia’s mouth opens around a name, but then she stops, and lets out a dry laugh. She drops her hands and pulls her head up to look at Grier. “Oh. Oh, are you telling me you don’t know?”

“It’s nor Ir Yut,” Grier ruffles, but shakes himself and addresses her with all the manner of a teacher dealing with an uncooperative student. “She’s gone. It’s not his daughters either, and no ordinary Deathsinger on account of how far it stretches across the system. I have my suspicions but you, are the only one who knows.”

Avia pierces him with her eyes, unrelenting and patronising.

“You know,” she says. “You know who it is.”

grier is…….. fucked up. he had toland whispering in his ear that he was doing everything right and he was getting oh so powerful, whilst withholding information about whether either of the sisters would come and kill him bc its toland, all he cares about is the sword logic. if he was actually alive when they came he’d probably just watch grier die with a smile on his face.

then avia kills toland, and grier is so, so alone. all he has are the tablets of ruin, which explain the sword logic with such clarity, all the info that toland withheld from him, and he starts to get Worried. and then he hears savathuns song.

avia hears savathuns song, too. she actually started to gain control of herself in the hive overworld after she heard it. until then she was having all this information shoved into her head against her will. she knows a lot about the hive similarly to toland, because shes heard all these other songs and all this knowledge. she doesnt want to know, its far too much for her to handle, but she doesnt really have a choice.

but then savathuns song made her realise the best way to get griers attention, so she just started screaming. every now and then, the screams would affect griers throne world. and that’s when he decided to go to her, to try and manipulate her with all the tools toland had given him. he had a feeling she was transforming into something, but went into the conversation just trying to convince her that she needed to help him.

“If you’re right, if I’m a liar just like Toland was, then even if I told you how they all died on my doorstep, you wouldn’t even think I was telling the truth.” A tilt of his head, the white matted fringe dangles slightly, helplessly. “Would you?”

none of the clan are dead. the eos’s did try and get avia out after rook was patrolling the dreadnaught and heard her voice, screaming. he couldn’t convince the vanguard to deploy a mission cause there was just no proof that avia was alive after sneaking to the dreadnaught to kill toland.

carver used his Hidden talents to track her down, got as far as the room where she was but the hive were about to overrun them. carver knew that avia wouldn’t want them to die in a rescue attempt, so he gets himself and his wife and child out of there and regroups with the others. carina is mad about it, but her mum and dad aren’t giving up.

the only other member of the clan who’s seen grier is rook. after the eos’s got back, he figured fuck it and went to get avia, his heart too broken to have the same clarity that they did regarding if he died.

that part grier wasnt 100% lying about -- rook actually finds the room, and grier is waiting for him. it’s a close fight, grier gets the chance to kill rook in the end, take his ghost and crush it under his heel but. he cant. so he tells rook to run, and if he ever comes back he wont just kill him, but he’ll make avia do it. (more lies about avia not remembering who he is probably idk)

grier lying to avia about their clan mates dying isn’t something he went into the conversation knowing he’d do. he was getting pissed at her holding back info out of spite, and thanks to this little comic by pin I wanted to play with him bitterly making her more and more upset by lashing out in such a vile way. grier is a hard character to find faults for aha but his quick anger and bitterness were interesting to play with when I dialed them up to eleven.

avia’s biggest fear is getting the people she loves and cares about killed, and grier still retains enough of himself to know that. so he just kinda, finds that vein and twists and pulls at it until avia breaks down and believes that she’s all alone -- that it really is just them two now.

“I, I wouldn’t – no!” Avia yells, and the room shakes once more. Grier takes stock of it this time, his face twisting in amused curiosity as she rages on.

avia is turning into a deathsinger.

in my head her ahamkara claws loose their silver plates over time and eventually, some time after her and grier talk she hears the ahamkara/worm gods/whatever with a scary amount of clarity, amplified by the fact that shes trapped in the overworld. they just convince her that shes not a guardian anymore, that shes something better, something more powerful. she spent so long being a soldier, a fighter for a dying cause, wouldnt this be better? to forge her own path, to listen to the songs and become something greater?

eventually she’ll decide (or think that she decided) that grier’s the only person she can protect anymore, and begins to accept the transformation. she adopts the same powers, I guess, as oryxs daughters. being able to weave reality and bend it to her/griers will. she’s basically ‘griers deathsinger’. her grief and anger fuel how powerful she is.

(i love...... corruption tropes so yeah this is basically whats happening to her aha.)

its an ironic parallel also because as i said before, grier is alone with the tablets, and avia is alone with the ahamkara. but grier said it was just them. theyre both transforming and changing at the same time into things they dont necesarily want to be because they couldnt see the consequences of their actions after one decision was made. but, they do eventually come together, just them, as grier makes avia believe -- as its meant to be.

Afterwards

i like to think eventually the clan decides to take grier on together to try and save avia, but they just get taken one by one instead, basically becoming different members of griers court and only making him stronger. they’re all far, far too attached and know that theres most likely no coming back if they do this. but after the city falls, theres no better time. no vanguard to stop them, no mission protocol. they regather after ghaul attacks and all decide to strike out by themselves. but it goes horribly wrong.

avia’s full deathsinger transformation makes all of her armour look like the silver plated ahamkaras (because thats just her, in d1 they were my fave exotic and they’re very much a part of her character in that era for me) minus a helmet, and the silver is definitely more rusted. her eyes blacken over entirely and her cloak is massive and swishy and the hood almost covers her eyes, and thats in place of the skirt a deathsinger would normally have (a skirt just doesnt seem right for her aha)

avia becomes a very loyal, very cutthroat deathsinger. she’s literally at griers beck and call. like omnigul for crota, or as it said in the fic ir yut.

a quick sum-up of che’s future career plans, bc reasons

im halfway through the dive!! anime show that came out this summer season, and i’m having a lot of thoughts, and plus i finished going through all the footage i missed today of skate america while i was at a bball game, and it’s made me realize different things i guess?

it might be mid-long length so its going under a cut, but to gain intereststart off, this is all about my desire to be an athletic trainer for the usa olympic center at colorado springs, co !

ive been an at(now when you see that abb. you know what it means hah!! not assistant teacher hmm) student since my freshman year of high school, and i’ve loved it a whole bunch. back then i was set on going to columbia U for their writing program, and i wanted to major in graphic design afterwards/during/it wasnt super planned out i was a fr. i didnt know what bfa or mfa stood for yet. it wasnt until end of sophomore year than i thought about being an at for realsies.

but i also still loved gd. so there was a confliction there.

junior year i took a break from working volleyball in the fall and did my one and only year of football and it was terrible primarily bc the team i worked with didnt know how to function as a group and half the group were selfless bitch whores but like thats another storyyy, secondly bc i jus really discovered i didnt care abt football at all. it was mostly for the experience and i gained it and i liked it bc i hung out w a lot of people from helping out w varsity (i was one of two our of the five juniors that had been there since my fr year and was only on jv bc it was my first year w football, but one of the seniors had to work a bunch so when they needed an extra person i was the one w the most experience so i was w them a lot,) point was it was fun!!! and you have fun w ppl you like that you dont work w all the time and i shouldnt say fun bc lots of times it was awful,

basically! it was fun being w the varsity trainers which were the seniors and the other junior that had been around since fr year. volleyball was fun but it had always been a one-at-student-per-team sport , so it was different jus being w other ats that shared the same team and not the same sport(which in the us is made up of at least three different teams, a fr,jv,and varsity). it was a more open environment and so it inspired a lot of talk with the at grad students we had that semester (we got 3-4 every semester in a partnership w the D1 uni in town, it was always cool to hear stories from them!) and anyway i remember talking w a couple of the grads one practice and we were discussing all the different occupations athletic trainers could have, and what they wanted to work with in the future, and the topic veered towards professional sports and the olympics.

i thought it was really cool when we were talking about it, and then we got busy and it flew out of my mind. i dont remember when it came back and became a focus, but sometime before my senior year, i had decided i wanted to work at the olympic level.

real quick i mentioned gd and the struggle, so to bring that into focus, my junior year i took a whole bunch of different tech classes (gd&i, compsci, webtech) and in one of those, i had the opportunity to go to a ... i cant remember what the term was for it, but it was kinda an event for gd students and it had a little competition and stuff, and it was really fun! nd you got a lot of info abt the community college hosting it and i learned their program was really good, so the gd versus at internal struggle continued, and i remember talking to my sponsor teacher (she actually taught all three of my tech classes that year aaa i loved her) about how i didnt know what to do and shit and i dunno what she told me but like, i think she was trying to be encouraging but she basically said it was up to me, like she didnt try and nod me into a direction, that i can recall.

so SOMEHOW bc i honestly cannot remember, by senior year i’ve decided that im gonna jus fuck it and pick BOTH and double major in gd and athletic training. AND i had it all planned out, where i was gonna get a degree in gd and open up an online business, and then go into a masters program for at and then enter into the olympic field.

by this point creative writing is still cool and a great hobby but i couldnt possibly double major AND have a minor that’d be too much. id still love to take a cw course tho one day.

basically a buncha crazy stuff happened that first semester but by winter break i had an acceptance letter to a uni a couple hours north of home with a good accredited undergrad program (accredited basically means you graduate w a masters in four years so its fasttracked which woulda been great but uh..) and by the time i found out that next semester that they were doing away with the accredited program i was already too emotionally invested to consider panic-switching(panic bc it was february and id already been admitted hah...) but i decided it’d be okay. basically if you dont remember/werent around one of my school’s head ats died in a car crash died around early october ‘16. she went to undergrad where i go now, and i’d talked to her about it september that semester wondering if she knew anything abt their program and uh surprise, she’d done the same program small world. after the funeral in november and a ton of thought i applied there. (november was.. crazy in general last year. rly crazy)

may was when i started adding on sports to the future olympics job, bc i started thinking about it and after finally getting a friend to watch yuri on ice, he started making his was through all of sochi’s figure skating stuff, and then the 2010 vancouver olympics, and i decided i wanted to recap a bit on that too.

the 2010 olympics was really my first experience with figure skating. i’m a west texas gal and so theres not a lot out here to get exposed to, so seeing these best-of-the-best class sports was fun, and the earliest experience i can remember of such. i was in fifth grade so i dont remember a ton, but i do remember being captivated by korea’s yuna kim, who won gold that year in fs. shes an fs legend at this point, so if you’re into figure skating and don’t know who she is, go look her up. you wont be disappointed.

in 2012 was the london olympics. i remember a lot from it, like watching the opening ceremony with my parents and seeing the queen jump out of a helicoptor(which is like,, still cool to this day wow) and being fascinated my michael phelps and all the swimming he did so grandly. it was also my first real exposure to diving. the oldest i could recall anything abt the sport was at a pizza hut somewhere.. in town i think, and i was w my best friend at the time and my mom was there so i think maybe we were on the way back from the lake??? sounds right, i think. and we were talking abt how i always held my nose when i went underwater bc i didnt know how to not get water all up my nostrils and be underwter(and i still dont to this day aha) and she mentioned like, joining a diving team would be cool! would help me get over it and all! and i like recalling it dunno what she was talking abt bc we lived in dirt city nothing so i highly doubt there was or is any sort of diving sport happening. swimming, yeah maybe, there were lessons at pools and bodyworks areas around town, competitive teams im not sure tho, but not diving like at all so??? dunno.

so my next and technically first real experience with it was watching the london olympics. and i thought, wow, this is so neat!! i watched from that one day like the opening events, and i think i was old enough to search online like yea i had a laptop by then so i looked up the schedule for the things i wanted to see most of, and i ended up watching i think most of the diving events (i missed a couple for.. archery, i think? maybe?) and absolutely loving it. iunno what it was, maybe something i never thought i could do?(bc not hold my nose?? while i dove???????? scaryy) but i enjoyed it a bunch.

i was older when sochi was a thing, my 8th grade year. i was able to appreciate things a lot more. when i tuned into events, tony hawk and snowboarding were the main focus, but figure skating was on a lot as well. i had a tv in my room by that point, so if i didnt like what was playing on the main tv, i could go watch another event. i learned a lot of names and faces through that, and so while my bff was watching it our senior year if i was with him id point out skaters and their nationalities and stuff, like yuzuru hanyus always been a modern day household name w figure skating, but i leanred abt him BECAUSE of the sochi olympics, and he was one of the ones i’ve never forgotten. i really really liked it, so much that i watched worlds after, and around the same time my fr year, i tuned in to just the worlds championship again. i didn’t pick up trying to watch grand prix(which is their regular season, for those unaware) season until my junior year, and most of it was day-or-two-late videos from youtube, since the ice channel i think it a paid-for thing (i still dont know much abt it hah) and nothing was on tv otherwise, aside from the skate america event. but since that first time after sochi, ive always been around watching worlds fs near the beg of each year. i’d familiarized myself by senior year with the fs world, and actually,

early (i think march?) of my junior year, i searched up trying to find a figure skating anime at the time. and what did i find?? ginban, the only figure skating anime at the time. i watched like maybe all of one episode, it was abt a girl who shared her body w the ghost of a former figure skater while she was competing in events, and it was.. okay? lackluster, in the animation dept, but it was a 2005 show so.. yeah.

so after that i was like kk that wasnt good lets find another. and i didnt. not yet, anyway. instead, i found an announcement for violet evergarden’s animated adaptation, and yuri on ice, a realistic adaptation of the sport of figure skating. thats bolded bc its important. i found that shit abt yoi before it even had a promo poster, certainly before the pv came around that got everyone hyped up. i found it bc i was looking for figure skating in the first place. in fact, i think when the pv came out and got popular, i didnt even relate it to the upcoming fs anime i’d read about previously. it took me a bit to connect the dots.

watching yuri on ice at the same time as the gp 2016 season was surreal, but really interesting. i got my bff into it before the second to last episode came out, and i only remember that bc he finally showed any interest when he found something on twitter abt it being gay (newsflash/// hes gay, and before yoi his fav show was no6 bc that was as close as it got. he still rly likes it, we both do, but his solid favc is now definitely yoi. representation matters and all) and was like well now i HAVE to watch it and i was all yes it ends soon so pls. and he watched it twice in a weekend, and thrice before the finale came out, and then a few more times after that, iunno how many times but certainly more thn i have(i went back after the .. maybe ep 10? w/e ending had the after party reveal that changed everything, so i went back to analyze everything before the next ep) and between the week of 11 and finale 12, he started watching the sochi fs competition, and then the 2010 after the show ended w ep 12.

seeing this great fs show and getting a friend into the world of figure skating really renewed my love for it all. before the semester went out i went back and watched the reruns of the sochi fs stuff. and by may i’d decided i wanted to cosider that to be the sport i worked with.

with diving, it took a similar twist. in the form of the rio 16 olympics. i was all over that shit, i downloaded an nbc app on my phone so i could watch events live while i traveled with volleyball to a tournament in dallas and while i was at practice w them at home and generally jus away from the house and a tv. i planned that shit out had a schedule and everything for what i was watching live, and a lot of it was swimming, but a whoooole lot of live stuff was the diving.

in the hotel room in dallas the tv would always be on to w/e olympics events were airing at the time, either track or diving tho, one or the other, or recaps. quite a few girls ended up in the room in the evening and we’d all do stuff and watch in passing at the same time, and it was suuuuuper fun. watching the chinese women perform flawlessly and walk away w all the gold was fun, but finding a good commentator to actually say such was a disheartening challenge( one of the most memorable moments w live commentary that year was hearing a woman say of one of the chinese ladies that she’d done better before, after they revealed her personal best score ever like rly cmon be unbiased and jus passionate abt the sport youre covering pls.

ive always been super fond of the diving scene. it may not be as much as fs, but honestly, i wish i grew up in an area w a diving team now, or wish i could try it out now, bc thats how much fun it seems. i still wanna go up to the big city like 30min away from uni and learn to ice skate in the civic center there, but hands down if i had to pick a sport to join tomorrow or die i’d pick diving.

so also by may, and throughout the culmination of senior year, diving was the second sport on the olympic to-train-for list. you get a five-year contract w the olympics, now i think it’s usa as a whole and i think its by center so say, if i get a job in colorado springs i cant apply in another five years to chula vista or even like lake placid, but iunno for sure. the five-year thing is involved somehow bc i’ve heard it from a physical therapist and trainer-that-works-in-a-sports-med-clinic duo in one body named sarah, who’s been contracted out from the clinic by my high school since junior year also, bc she knows people who’ve worked w the olympics, and then another from church that worked w olympics that knows my family uh iunno how well but i know of him, i think he also works in the clinic as some sort of on-hand surgeon but a diff person than who sarah knew. so its five years somehow and then i’ll take my bfa in gd and open my online business and do that from a studio at home and look after my owl/cat pet combo.

since may, it had been ‘olympics, with either figure skating or diving’. and it stayed that for a long time. now, since a couple weeks ago, and this is again while gp season is happening for fs, its diving. i wanna work w the usa olympic diving team as their team athletic trainer, and i cant do it this summer bc i have to have completed two years of uni, instead of a certain standing, like be a junior, but so NEXT summer, before my senior year of uni, (i came in a sopho so 6 sem only ah) i’m applying for an internship at the center in colorado springs, and that’s the team i hope i work with.

now i tell people, diving, but if i get offered figure skating, i’ll take it, but diving is the goal now. if i love it and wanna continue professionally, great, i can do that and have an online gd shop. and if i decide i want something different? i’ll work olympics and then join w a professional-level figure skating i actually dunno how it works. coach, and their skater in turn. coach, with multiple skaters under them. a culmination of diff usa skaters. w/e, something in the professional fs world.

and thats uh, thats it! dive has been so much fun to watch, and i realize i talk a lot on here about working w basketball and being an at student in general and the vast majority have no idea what i mean, so hopefully this clarifies. thank you!!

lmao ok its like almost 1am and i gotta sleep but um ok maybe i shouldnt say the bombings “isn’t entirely justified”, cause it isn’t justified. at all. have to say i didnt make that clear, my fault, but at the same time, lol it isnt the point of my posts. anyways, i dont know their trauma, and i make no attempts talking about their trauma. but ive seen documentaries. ghost of people casted on broken radiated stones cause they are pulverized at the centre of a nuclear explosion, horrific scars on survivors’ bodies, the trauma materializing in popular culture in the form of monster--trauma thats probably never gonna be healed. Japanese folks sure arent silent about their trauma and the horrific aftermath of the bombings, and the world listened. you all sure are passionated abt talking abt their trauma, for some reason. that post about gozilla got like 100k notes lmao. ive seen multiple posts about how unjustified the bombings are during my time here. is it bc u all are into anime and watched grave of fireflies? lol?

u know i know large size national traumas caused by war...are not comparable, i dont wanna talk abt what happened to nanking, or other places or regions during sino japanese war. its not comparable. but u all think i dont know and i dont care what happened to hiroshima and nagasaki? i know and i cared! for the longest time i didnt know how to feel abt it, any of it. but also im tired of seeing japanese folks using their own trauma to play the victim mentality, positioning themselves as victims of WWII when they 100% aren’t lol. I’m tired of nobody caring about that, since while they are playing victim mentality, Japanese war criminals are being honoured as heroes, the Japanese government still refuses to make a apology about the invasion they wouldn’t retract afterwards, and japanese imperalism is still alive in Japan! japanese history textbooks are imbedded with worrying messages, and dude! i didnt came up with these, people whos gone to Japan and studied Japanese history curriculum did! They are documentaries (in Chinese tho) about how Japanese history textbook refuses to call their invasion of China (and probably other asian countries like korea etc), an “invasion”. There are questions asking the kids if Japan would win against China when the country engage China in a 100 years from now. Not IF there would be an engagement. the premise of the question is that there will be another conflict!

i said my great grandpa died in nanking massacre. he most likely did. (u know they spread news abt the massacre after it happened, in America. it probably just helped Americans to justify their ultimate engagement with imperial Japan’s military after pearl harbour happened) idk how long, probably two years ago, my mom told me about grandma. she told me that my great grandpa went to Nanking to run some errands, right after he went, grandma and her sisters lost contact with him and the city’s gate shuts down--the massacre begins. My grandpa was never heard of again. My mom said, “we couldn’t even find his body”. There are too many mass graves in nanking, no one could find anybody’s bodies, esp an insignificant person like my great grandpa who isnt a permanent residence of the city. i asked my mom, “so he got killed by the japanese?”. my mom said “well yeah, probably.” so no, im not sure abt it, but i dont have to have a great grandfather dying in the massacre to justify my anger abt the massacre and japan’s continuous denial of the massacre. It’s national pain, it’s national trauma too. However, for a while i actually like to think that he didnt died at the hands of japanese. I thought that, its entirely possible he just abandoned my grandma and his sisters and run away in the middle of chaos. even now, i thought that, maybe i misheard what my mom said. maybe my mom misheard from grandma. a while ago, folks in China were being foolish and boycotting Japanese products. Irrational and unproductive hate tbh, and boycotting Japanese brands only wreck Chinese economy cause none of these products being sold in China are produced in Japan lol. I didn’t wanna be one of these people giving to unproductive hate and irrational anger. but seems like, thats really above me. Anyways, theres a lot of speculations, but what i do know is that grandma had a hard life without the main financial support (my great grandpa) in her life. she lived in poverty all her life, travelled from shanghai all the way to beijing for work. never get the education she deserves, was a factory worker her whole life.

i thought abt grandma a lot these days. my grandma died on 4th of july, 2006. its been 11 years today (or rather, yesterday, in my time zone). i realize i couldnt even remember much of her voice or face, and that makes me incredibly sad. i was gonna talk abt missing her and about the whole legacy of 2nd sino japanese war during WWII, at one point. But i guess its gonna be today at 1am lol--seems like an awkward time to do that since i just went the fuck off on tumblr dot com lmao. i wanted to go off abt this whole thing for at least a year now tho lmao. hope grandma wouldn’t mind i start thinking about all these after my mom revealed bits of info about her life. i miss her a lot and i wished i could have known her better, but there wasn’t enough time.
