so im on a tma re listen which made me want to give tma fandom & fics a second try, since i wasn't very captivated by either the first time around. fortunately, jonelias fandom clicked for me and ive been able to enjoy plenty of fics and posts and blogs (notably, yours!). ive also rediscovered my love for gerry keay, and am even cautiously interested in the jongerry ship

you know what im markedly NOT enjoying??! the sheer amount of j*nmartin :)) like, its fucking everywhere. i find fics i want to read on either the jonelias or jongerry tags and then i check the tags and SURPRISE its either an ot3 situation w martin OR, in the case of jonelias, elias is only there for the j*nmartin endgame.

im so... ugh. martin was never my favourite character, but i used to find him tolerable. 'used to' being the key word here

First off, I'm glad you've been enjoying my posts and those of my fellow Jonelias fans <3 We do have a lot of fun dissecting the bleaker themes of the show. (Also, I had a phase where I was really into Jongerry; the way they just instantly click enthralled me.)

JM is, for real, so ubiquitous that people sometimes don't even bother tagging it. And the prevalence of fics where Elias is just there to sexually abuse Jon so Martin can comfort him is frankly depressing; I went into it a while back, but aside from my distaste for rape as drama, the fact remains that Elias always wants Jon to choose to walk into doom of his own free will.

Maybe I'm just bitter about a story I liked being whittled down to a romance story that isn't even convincing, but JM leaves such a bad taste in my mouth; I'm glad we can bitch about it here, tbh.

I do! And I’m so sorry I haven’t gotten to him sooner. Life’s gotten progressively more busy, and with my drawing tablet in the repair shop for an undefined amount of time, I’m not sure when(or if) I’ll be able to produce any drawings of the same quality that I’ve posted for the polls.

Cant promise much at the moment, but here’s a few drabbles ive had in the meantime!

what makes you the saddest about empires?

Oh, man. What doesn't make me sad about Empires? The ending was heart wrenching.

I guess, since Jimmy is my boy, I should talk a little bit about why his story made me sad.

By the second half of the empires storylines, Jimmy has gone through crisis after crisis after crisis. First, he finds out he can talk... to fish? And then it turns out... it turns out he's ancient, that he has a sister, that there's a substantial chunk of his life that he does not remember. I think there's something very poignant about the fact that, when Lizzie and he first figured it out, he doesn't latch unto the fact that he was an ancient ruler of the sea, or that he has amnesia, or that salmon truly were his doom... he latches on to the fact that he was a small, damaged egg and tries to deny it.

He gets the Emperor's Crown, and it's taken from him in an act of betrayal by an ally. He loses the Codfather head over not doing his duty, and when he tries to mend things by what to him seems the logical route (Codfather head taken because more cod have been killed than salmon? Kill more salmon!), there are no answers. No wonder he takes fWhip's offer for an alternative solution, the Council of Cod gave him nothing to go off from except the vaguest indication that he could prove himself worthy again.

Except, he still gets nothing.

Three days. He hadn't slept in three days by the time the world ended, but honestly who knows how long it'd been since he actually last had a restful night? He was so eager to take fWhip's help, this beacon of hope where he had slowly been losing his, and, really, is anyone surprised?

Then, the world ends. It explodes, and he blames himself and only himself for it. He doesn't think he has anything to live for anymore, or that there's a place for him anymore, so he runs.

I wonder, sometimes, if knowing the Council of Cod deemed him worthy again would have relieved his burden or sunk him further.

hello fluff anon! I've got good news and bad news for you.

The bad news--yeah no there's more angst. It's going to get worse before it gets better. My cowriter is working on the next part and it's. okay well it's partly my fault because I kept writing angst and this is their revenge for that. my bad! I'm also dropping a side bit of the au later today when I get a chance to format it correctly.

but the good news! this au WILL have a happy ending, and i don't mean Can You See Me type happy ending where there's a sad ending attached and everyone lives in denial, I mean an actual, fluffy ending. And while I cannot promise there won't be much more angst I can promise I will write the most fluffy shit possible as compensation for the amount of angst in this.

it's very hard to say how much more angst there's gonna be mainly cause we're writing this on the fly. We weren't planning on making this au when it first got brainrotted so we're writing it as we go and are working to the planned end. but there will be fluff!

I sleep, a lot. That's the most consistent habit I have. Maybe because of my fatigue.

Loud noise in places with air conditioners simply because the sound will get louder. There is a trend in our shopping malls where they set a timeslot for them to hard sell products (i.e the way people usually do in a morning market) in the middle of the mall to customers; loud sounds, using megaphone, yelling. I understand why they do that, but I hate it.

The superpower of being able to persuade people to do anything for me and them being happy to do so. Imagine, if I wanted to buy a slice of cake with an extra strawberry topping I could simply ask the person to add another strawberry on top of it and they would be like "Ohhh of course!! Here you go!! Enjoy it!". Amazing. What if other customers got angry? I would just persuade them that it's good to be happy for other people sometimes.

Hmm. i reallyyy love The Girl From the Other Side. its a very quiet and gentle story with a kind of dark tone. also has great art direction. kinda reminds me of irish folklore (i think the author was going for that, the alt. title is Siúil, a Rún) i bought physicals of it and it was so worth it imo. (12 volumes)

Ive been reading Call of the Night a little, its fun. insomniac meets vampire and they hang out at night, if you want something light and kinda popcorn-like, might enjoy it. (ongoing)

Mightve already read it but im mostly throught Chainsaw Man and its been really good, i like it a lot. rare series that, hits the chaotic angle really well, lots of great characters, art, world building, etc. 11 volumes long

Junji ito is always fun to read!!! uzumaki is pretty fun, im gonna read tomie soon. his one-shot works are fun too. if you havent read his stuff, 10/10 recommend.

I liked ancient magus bride, never finished but i was enjoying it (ongoing series?)

Houseki no Kuni is top tier. i need to buy that series. super great, i feel unsettled with it cuz, its all so alien. and i cant really like, use anything is the world as a reference to ground myself (in a good way). its all so surreal how they handle things that i think are dangerous. its a longer story (i forget how many volumes but a lot!)

Girls Last Tour is a melancholic story abt two girls traveling the world after a global apocolypse. it can be assumed theyre the last ppl alive. its a show abt how deep and wonderful humanity is. its got a lot of wonderful moments with the two protags and their adventures. (12 volumes)

I havent read it (yet) but ive heard many great things abt dungeon meishi. seems like a mix of konosuba and the priconne anime. fantasy world with cooking and fun characters with comedy and stuff

for what i've seen of pocket operators i think they're great!! they sound like real tiny synths/drum machines/etc while still looking fun and thus accesible to a wider audience (which is great imo)!!

Do you find drawing to be more enjoyable when you’re drawing for others or for yourself?

I enjoy both but i guess i prefer drawing for myself more, it gives me more creative freedom and i dont feel as pressured to finish a drawing if i just decide to give up. But drawing for other's can be fun too! Especially if it's fanart
