just so everyone knows, I’m not dead!!! on top of my chronic fatigue, I was placed on a new medication for my heart that makes me somehow even MORE tired, so I’ve basically been sleeping 12 hours and taking various naps throughout the day EVERY day for a few weeks now. Hey, I'm a former conjoined twin (we were separated, not at birth but later because of Issues that arose, we would've stayed together otherwise) and I just wanted to slide in and thank you for not pulling some Evelyn Evelyn shit with your conjoined submas AU. I love the song, don't get me wrong, but it's exhausting for all of the conjoined twin stuff you can find to either be dehumanizing or treating separation as an inevitable end goal rather than even entertaining the idea of functional connection. I know they did eventually get separated, but it's different. They were happy and while the plot obviously zeroes in on it because it's a big, traumatic event in their lives and Emmet Got Fucked Up, it's not all their characters are about. Even though we only saw a short snippet, they were still allowed to just be. Anyway, sorry to word-vomit, I just wanted to tell you that. My sister likes the fic so far too :)

For real, you have NO IDEA how much your perspective means to me. I'm sure you noticed in my author's notes, but at first I was pretty scared of posting this fic due to the sensitive nature of such an AU. So to hear from someone who is a former conjoined twin who remembers what it was like, and that you are enjoying my story, is incredibly relieving!!

And yeah, I definitely... have seen the same in my research. While obviously I didn't find everything there was to find, I did see VERY little that wasn't, yeah, dehumanizing or feeling like it implied that actually being happy living conjoined was abnormal? It was pretty strange, and I've been treating such stories and examples as a big, fat "What NOT to do."

Ingo and Emmet in this story had wonderful birth parents who cared deeply for them and their wellbeing, and then Drayden who cares just as much. They indeed lived a very happy life and would have continued to do so! A monkey wrench was thrown into the mix for sure, but things will work out :)

And there will be plenty of memories and flashbacks both sweet and bittersweet about the twins before the separation! After all, half the fun of an AU is exploring all the corners and ideas associated with it, and there's so many fragments of their life I still wanna write about! I'll be working in a lot lol.
