Its actually sickening how in the Call of the Sea cover of Dear old Pal of mine the verses Norah and Harry sing reflect their situations at the end of the story. Like fuck you!! my heart strings!!!

𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐄,     𝐘𝐄𝐓   𝐎𝐇  -  𝐒𝐎   𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐄     /      there’s a titter of laughter tumbling from lips,   before contemplation takes residence;   not for long though,   knowing his usual outlook.   harry watches her carefully,   glee dissolving into pores,   tilts head while considering her question.   he’d never consider denying any suggestion she may conjure,   but he had to at least look the part.          ❛❛     hm,   i reckon you might know me a little too well.     ❜❜          brow raised,   intrigue flooding boyish features,   ease strong in the air.   they’re a promise beneath hallowed autumns to blooming buds of spring—   promises which fade but don’t disappear.     

moments like these he treasures,   where one needn't hold concern with what lurks around the corner.   where impending days of unfamiliarity are just that:   remain blissfully unknown,   to be dealt with later.   presence soft in amber glow of night’s conclusion,   common room nesting a grand quietude save crackling of fire and occasional pitter - pattering's of students upstairs rummaging about.   and of course,   the whispered conversations housing harry and ginny in front of the fire so late at night;   a common occurrence.   harry climbs off the couch they’d been on,   stretching out,   slight pop of the collarbone signalling his readiness.   midnight rummage through cobblestone walls alongside her sounded ideal,   if he were honest.

❛❛     i assume you had my dads cloak in mind?   unless you’ve managed to find some hidden passage to the kitchens?     ❜❜          feigns innocent cadence,   grins an eager tongue between teeth smile.   truthfully,   he wouldn’t be all surprised if she actually had,   but figured he’d at least know by now.

Harry just made a tired sound when Ginny’s voice woke him up. “Issit?” he asked confused and blinked, then slowly realised he was wrapped up in the blanket like a burrito and Ginny had already jumped up. He groaned and rolled around, trying to soak up the warmth she left behind. Eventually Harry sat up and began to untangle himself as he watched her getting dressed. He rubbed his face and then snorted when he spotted something on Ginny’s neck.

He sure did a number on her last night, Harry realised, as he spotted more and more marks. He felt quite proud and wondered whether Ginny would want them healed away. Harry would understand it if did, she’d dodge a ton of uncomfortable questions. “Look at your neck, love,” he pointed out with a grin.

1. Book that’s been on your shelves the longest?

“The Chronicles of Narnia”, probably? and “The Lord of the Rings”, but LOTR isn’t technically mine, it’s my brothers so there’s that. i wish i still had my Harry Potter, but it’s all gone :(

2. Current read, last read and book you’ll read next:

currently reading: i am very proud of myself because i have finally picked up “the memoirs of a geisha” again - i started reading it like half a year ago and then life got in the way, welp. but i’m reading it now!

last read: “we are okay” by nina lacour, it was so beautiful i almost cried, seriously, i wholeheartedly recommend it. before “we are okay” all i read were uni related books and i don’t think anyone would be interested in hearing about those~

book you’ll read next: “six of crows” has been waiting for me way too long now, so i’ll probably get into that. i also realy want to red donna tart’s “the secret history”, wish me luck!

3. Book that you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but probably won’t?

i have started sylvia plath’s “the bell jar” such a long time ago and i just can’t.... get through this book......even though a part of me really wants to.......... i ws so excited to read it and then it turned out to be completely different than what i thought it would be and i’m so disappointed in myself but...............................................

4. Which book character would you swap places with?

i saw this question and suddenly forgot all the books i have every read, welp... idk, knowing my shallow self i would probably choose anyone who was described as pretty/good at sports because i would love to finally know what it’s like not to be awkward and ugly :)

5. Any required reading you hated in school, that wasn’t so bad 10 years later?

listen to me... i read “the little prince” in primary school and thought it an absolutely pointless and overall very weird book and then i went on with my life until i met a friend in uni (if anyone remembers my pathetic crush from like 6 months ago, that’s her) and she physically MADE ME read it again and now i love “the little prince” and call out my 11 year old self on it at leats once a day every day

7. Stephen King - literary genius or opiate of the masses?

i have to admit that i used to quite like his writing? he’s not like, the best author ever, per se, but i like how creative he can sometimes get with his comparisons, lmao. also, when i read his “apt pupil” in “different seasons” i was so shocked?? it was so fucked up but also good, in a way, so this is a story of his that has stayed with me ever since. if a writer can make me feel, it’s a start, and it surely is something.

8. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?

i’m gonna copy sarah’s answer here, “atonement” was so much better of a movie than it was a book, with made me so dissapointed, btw? the book was kind of bland, to me, and i just couldn’t get into it. also, stephen king strikes again - “the shawshank redepmtion” was a cool book, but i liked the movie much better.

9. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid?

DO NOT ever decide to see “eragon”, it was a TORTURE. and percy jackson??? i mean... what the actual fuck happened there. that’s all i’m gonna say.
