#HarrietsApothecary 1 year ago. Missing my fam fam and thinking about reincarnation and how when we heal ourselves we heal our family lines. Our ancestors our children. May we all remember our healing powers. May we reclaim our hearts our time our destinies. Peace. Reposted from @harrietsapothecary it is our sacred task to NOT deny, erase, and oversimplify the very real impacts of systemic oppression and violence. It is our sacred task to disrupt how violence is normalized and made tolerable. It is our sacred task to resist, reclaim, and recreate standards of care and safety of our people that do not rely on supremacist logics of spiritual bypassing. #Repost @mentalhealthfemme ・・・ Using spiritual axiom’s as a way of addressing (i.e., minimizing/ignoring/denying) the very real issues of racism and anti-Blackness is a form of silencing (and gaslighting) through spiritual bypassing. James Baldwin had this to say in his 1962 essay, ‘Letter From a Region in My Mind’: - “There appears to be a vast amount of confusion on this point, but I do not know many Negroes who are eager to be “accepted” by white people, still less to be loved by them; they, the blacks, simply don’t wish to be beaten over the head by the whites every instant of our brief passage on this planet. White people in this country will have quite enough to do in learning how to accept and love themselves and each other, and when they have achieved this—which will not be tomorrow and may very well be never—the Negro problem will no longer exist, for it will no longer be needed. - - - - In any case, white people — Christians — who had robbed black people of their liberty and who profited by this theft every hour that they lived, had no moral ground on which to stand. They had the judges, the juries, the shotguns, the law—in a word, power. But it was a criminal power, to be feared but not respected, and to be outwitted in any way whatever. And those virtues preached but not practiced by the white world were merely another means of holding Negroes in subjection.” - An enlightened world can be achieved only through dismantling racism & the oppression(s) connected. If you as a BIPOC have heard these statements as I have in my lifetime, please observe these affirmations as put together by @ogorchukwuu - - #affirmations #spiritualbypassing #racism #therapyforblackgirls #therapyforblackmen #decolonizeyourmind #decolonizetherapy #blacktherapy #minoritymentalhealth #blackm (at Urban Shaman) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDUCa2CH-GL/?igshid=1vn2su5ulz32z

#tuesday Went from emergency fundraising 4 artists 2 holding space 4 others in processing the injustices of this moment in addition to all of my other work. Been nonstop since late Feb. Not complaining but complaining. Sending 💚 2 all of my colleagues who, in the service of others, justice, and change, find themselves exhausted and carrying the emotional labor required in these spaces. I 👀 u, I am u...Also grateful 2 friends and fam who don’t hold my choices and absences against me but uplift me in my life’s purpose. 🙏🏾✨ Gonna rest and restore as soon as possible bc we need us. ☺️ #transformationtuesday #tuesdaymotivation #tuesdaythoughts #restisresistance #consultant #consultantwhocares #repost @harrietsapothecary Rest is not the enemy of change. Your body and mind need rest in order to maintain its energy. But rest isn’t just “doing nothing” — there are many ways that you can recharge your batteries and stay energized for the long haul. Here are small things you can do to recover your energy as you continue to fight racism and make sure that everyone knows that #BlackLivesMatter. Take care of yourselves, friends. Take care of your community. EDITED TO ADD: yes, it’s fine for you to share this as long as my watermark is still visible and you tag me in the caption. Thanks! H/T to @maydadelvalle for re-posting this Reposted from @harrietsapothecary it feels appropriate that the word humus, the dying organic matter that nourishes the roots of many plants, especially in this transition from winter to spring, comes from the same word-root that creates the word humility. ive witnessed this humility as spring unfurls at first tentatively and then tenaciously. the tiniest and often most tender shoots insist on life. in so many complex ways, they organize the conditions around them to grow hope. generating soil, weaving towards light, creating atoms that build longer days, warmer winds, and greener fields. i’ve witnessed the principle of humus practiced in New Yorkers on these hella fuckin hard days. Folks who are turning the suffering coming to so many of us into compassion and generosity. Blessed be the tools of adaptation, innovation, and connection. From organized drive thru meal services for young people out of school, especially since 2 out of 3 students depend on free or reduced price school lunch as their primary meal source. To door to door check ins with elders to see if they have their medication, food, and a kind ear. To being hella fucking creative with emergency preparedness plans with folks like my Dad who live in Nigeria and in so many places outside of the US. To abortion care volunteers who are lovingly supporting pregnant people in getting access to healthcare across statelines. To the healers and the health professionals who are working overtime right now within and outside of the medical industrial complex to summon up the alchemy that we need inside of failed systems. To parents who are turning apartment buildings into virtual home schools. Im grateful y’all and proud to be connected to a web of interdependence that is making so much happening with diminishing resources. as certainty dissolves moment to moment, what feels abundantly clear is that things change when folks choose to bend the arc of integrity towards the good and just. May we learn from nature and honeybees and keep choosing each other in the midst of chaos. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_AHjBzJoU8/?igshid=1t3stqhk684fp

This⬆️. All of it.⬇️ When violence soaks our bones heavy, its easy to forget what is true. * * *
Remind us we are the ocean. The same 14 billion year old atoms that make up the seas are a part of us. We are the ocean in human form. * * *
When the echoes of violence are mixed with the salt water of our tears, show us that the universe chose to weave us with the same intelligence of stars. * * * Remind us how to soften at the pace of the Earth. Slow enough to re-ignite our connection and feed our imagination. * * *
Forgive us for how we’ve inherited how to cause pain. The Earth is not a burial ground for our shortcomings. * * *
Remind our pain and resilience they can co-exist. They have much to learn from one another. * * *
Ignite our no. Our hard boundaries against loving capitalism more than we love the People* * *
we are proof healing is possible. May we move with this possibility as we nurture the rubble of our broken tender hearts, and tend to the violence at the hands of the state #summersolstice #Repost @onraelateal ・・・ “No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us!” - Marsha P. Inspired by Carrie @maroonhorizon who was inspired by Firelei @fireleibaez who was inspired and created painting that “depicts Améthyste and Athénaire Christophe, daughters of the first king and queen of Haiti, who were forced into exile in Pisa, Italy, following the death of their father in 1820 and the unification of the Kingdom of Haiti and Republic of Haiti. No known paintings or photographs of the sisters exist. Báez’s portraits serve as the only visual representation of the sisters and a belated monument to their important role in the story of the Haitian Revolution.” Quote from MoMA. We are so thrilled that Carrie is giving one of the children in Gonaives, Haiti a representation of their royalty. We are accepting donations of dolls to uplift our children in the DR, Haiti, PR. Please consider donating a doll Target Registry: trt.gifts/BlackDollProject Thank you to @harrietsapothecary for hosting our drop doll and love letter station! #blackdollproject #loveletter #dismantlewhitesupremacy #ancestralhealing #medicinewoman #dominicanslovehaitians #handmadewithlove #blacklikeme #blackisbeautiful #onelove #decolonize (at MINKA brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/dominicanslovehaitiansmovement/p/Brie_tllUOS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1k8vq4mrssu78
