Post-Owarimonogatari spoilers I guess

Koyomi and Tsubasa would make a terrible couple because Tsubasa lacks self-awareness (at least around the time of Kizu, obviously her character develops later on) and is really bad at communicating her own feelings in any meaningful manner while Koyomi is extremely self-concsious but is also really poor at reading other people

Tsubasa's poor understanding of her own feelings and emotions makes her think she's in love with Koyomi, but the reality is that she's no more in love with him than she's in love with Hitagi. They're both people she is sexually attracted to and they're both friends who mean a lot to her. The difference is that at the very least Hitagi is a good sexual partner for her who doesn't have the same combination of late-adolesence hormone-driven high libido, low-key sex repulsion, and inability to read other's feelings clearly that Koyomi has

In contrast, Hitagi is a very good partner for Koyomi. She's less perceptive of others than Tsubasa is, sure, but she's still a fairly astute woman who more importantly is very aware of how she feels and does not hesitate to communicate that directly and clearly, which is what Koyomi needs more than anything. The bloke doesn't even perceive other people in the urban environment whose existence isn't directly relevant to him right now. He really needs someone blunt in his life

Koyomi sees Tsubasa obviously lusting after him and thinks that his inevitable physiological response to this must mean he's sexually harrassing her, Hitagi sees Tsubasa being obviously sexually repressed after years of living without privacy and thinks "damn, Tsubasa really needs to get laid" and then goes ahead, comes on hard to Tsubasa and then sleeps with her

Koyomi's trouble perceiving what others are thinking or feeling without having it stated to him extremely bluntly a big part of the significance of Sodachi's character. Sodachi is the anti-Hitagi in a lot of ways. She expects Koyomi to pick up on what she is feeling and what she wants from him because it is glaringly obvious to her and she can't conceive of him being as poor on picking it up as he is, which frustrates her because she knows that Koyomi is the sort to view a situation entirely through a lens of trying to actively help or at the very least give advice

Koyomi completely lacks a super-ego where Tsubasa's entire personality has been consumed by the super-ego, and much of her character development revolves around the process of her finally gaining a proper sense of self after eighteen long years of only existing in relation to others, and even then those relationships with others have often been hollow shells of what a familial relationship is supposed to look like, so estranged from her supposed parents that she doesn't even have her own bedroom. In this sense Tsubasa is the anti-Koyomi much as Sodachi is the anti-Hitagi, and that is why I ship Sodachi x Tsubasa

Shizuka Hanekura: My apologies. Maybe if your people actually focused on a skill outside of boiling carrots, you'll be able to compete with our superior cloths.

Squire peeling carrots: Now ok listen here! thats going to far, Ill smack you if you badmouth my carrots again

Shizuka Hanekura: You are welcome to do so. I applaud you for your confidence in going through the next few months with a broken arm.

Squire peeling carrots: You dont look so strong, I think id take my chanses.

Shizuka Hanekura: I'm used to hearing that. You may roll the dice, as they say.

Squire peeling carrots: Hm you see this here ladle i use to stir my trusty stew, Are you sure you want me to smack you?

Shizuka Hanekura: Oh, a weapon. I was under the impression you were man enough to use your hand. The counter-threat still stands.

Squire peeling carrots: Fine you little miscreant ill use my hand just for you, *the squire pulls up his sleeves and reares his arm back* Dont cry ok?

Shizuka Hanekura: You have my word.

Squire peeling carrots: Here goes wimp *he swings his arm and hits her across the cheek*

Shizuka Hanekura: *hits him strike her with no reaction...only to grab his arm as soon as he's finished and casually dislocate his arm from his socket*

Squire peeling carrots: *he looks att his arm and jiggles it a bit before he falls on his knees and screams in pain* AGh you stupid oriental, What the hell did you do!?!

Shizuka Hanekura: Oh, hold on. *takes his arm and relocates it, leaving him in great pain* It should be fully operational in a few months...give or take some minor movements.

Squire peeling carrots: *choking back tears he stands up and raises the ladle with the other arm* Your kind really are a pain, I should have used this from the start

Shizuka Hanekura: Perhaps this event will teach you to watch your words around "our kind"? You do seem like the type that requires multiple lessons however.

Squire peeling carrots: *with a loud gasp he points behind her and yells* Oh gods what is that behind you?!

Shizuka Hanekura: *cottoning on to what he's doing, she sighs and looks behind herself, giving the illusion of an opening*

Squire peeling carrots: *he grabs her throat with his wounded arm and then swings the ladle to strike her side*

Shizuka Hanekura: *grunts a bit but only to take a breath to wrap her legs around his wounded arm and break it*

Squire peeling carrots: *stumbling to the ground while groaning, he starts tapping her leg* AH fuck ok i give i give, Let me go!

Shizuka Hanekura: Drop the ladle. *keeps tugging on his broken arm*

Squire peeling carrots: no you crazy oriental, Let me go first*He grabs her leg and tries to pry them open*

Shizuka Hanekura: *they are frighteningly strong and won't budge* Drop the ladle or you'll never use this arm again...and then I'll go after the next one.

Squire peeling carrots: *he bites his lip until it bleeds so as to not make a sound* You dont tell me what to do *he says while putting the ladle up to her head*

Shizuka Hanekura: Suit yourself. *twists so as to break his arm in several more places before rolling off, only to snatch the ladle away from him*

Squire peeling carrots: *he slumps over groaning in pain and holding his twisted arm* Agh fuck you, You are cheating

Shizuka Hanekura: Spoken like a true man who tried to assault someone over their cooking being insult. *bends him over and pulls down his pants*

Squire peeling carrots: * he grabs her by the hair and tries to pull her away* Hey stop Ok i give up, You already broke my arm ill never peel again dont do this!

Shizuka Hanekura: *stoically slams her foot in his face and goes behind him* I am not an Oriental, I am an Asian. *spanks him hard with the ladle* I am specifically Japanese. If you do not know this, you are free to ask or just ask for my name.

Squire peeling carrots: *he flinches in pain* i dont care what you are, You are all oriental to me! *he starts pulling his pants up with his hand*

Shizuka Hanekura: *holds them down and spanks him hard enough with it to leave a welt* You need to grow thicker skin over your cooking. A person telling you that they do not prefer your dish is not grounds to attack them.

Squire peeling carrots: *he lets out a groan, and tries to grab the ladle* You insulted my cooking, Its been in my family for generations, You dont see me insulting your heritage!!

Shizuka Hanekura: You have literally been calling me a slur the whole time we've known each other. You think your family would care about a wayward comment about their dish from a stranger? Also... *whacks hard several more times on the ass with the ladle, to point of bleeding, before tossing it a yard away*...when you lose a fight, you should prepare yourself for the consequences.

Squire peeling carrots: *he stumbles onto his feet and grabs his ass in pain* I dont care, You orientals can only do fabrics and bring war im justified in my distrust *he tries to bend down to grab his pants but he gets stopped by the pain and whimpers* I dont lose fights he mumbels.

Shizuka Hanekura: You lost this one. I'm not here to change your mind but I do hope that reflect on this event and adjust your actions in the future. *walks off* Farewell.

Squire peeling carrots: *he pulls his pants up, and flings a small pebble after her* Your kind will be eraced from the gene pool you hear?!

Shizuka Hanekura: *ignores it* Not by your kind, this I know.

New chapter for my ongoing Sodachi centred fic, with her post-owari college life struggles and ongoing hanekura romance that I hope isn't too slow burn, plus some messing around with an oddity plot that I decided to try at after hopefully growing as a writer, is up. Please check it out. I'd really love to get feedback on this and the past couple of chapters, at least to help me move forward with confidence with future updates, after a long gap with no updates or work that got feedback.
