If some time ago, someone would tell me that I will make glass bead jewelry even once - I probably couldn't stop laughing for the next several minutes. But things like to change and I also just needed some of them for the next photoshoot. Because kinda a lot of them were left in the box, I also made those "things" You can see in photos. Retire

There's just something about using an item until it's absolutely beat and thrashed that just makes me feel so good. It's not even that I want to save the planet, or that I like recycling. It's more so getting the satisfaction that I've actually stuck with something for the long haul and fully committed. The thing is I flip flop (Segway into me buying the loveliest sandals today)

I've owned this pair of black Nike slides for about 6-7 years. I never really bothered to ever replace them or get new ones. I'm the type of person that if something isn't broken then why fix it ya know. The thing is however, originally they were very lovely black sandals. However over the years, they suffered what I like to call "authentic battle damage". They weathered many a storm (literal storms as well as metaphorical ones), survived being chewed up by my dog, had random crap spilled on them as well as being used by everyone in my household for trash runs.

They saw many a thing in their lifetime and definitely traveled many places and had many miles on them. However today as I was shopping (This was unplanned mind you) I saw some carnage and venom slides. It just woke something inside me, at that moment I looked down at my worn out stinky slides which had turned from black to Gray at this point. Something inside me at that moment just said "It's time, put these to rest and get these new ones." It's funny my brother was with me and it's almost as if the universe sent a sign through him. "Throw away your sandals it's about time" he said, to which I honestly agreed.

I excitedly grabbed the sandals and took them to the checkout line. As soon as I got out the store the first thing I did was take off the tags from the new slides and put them on, one on at a time. Once I had both on I just chunked the old beat worn out sandals into the nearest trash can and just walked away. I felt so light after that, both in a metaphorical sense (Throwing away and releasing the past and not looking back) as well as literally (these new ones are so light weight and comfy it's honestly night and day). It's kinda bewildering to me that purchasing new sandals in a way can mark such a monumental moment.

In a way I'm now able to start letting go of the past and not really think much of it. For the longest time I always held on to the past, sometimes to my own detriment. No one forces me to hold on the past, or memories that no longer serve me. If anything it's more so a subconscious need to preserve the memories. However, in the grand scheme of things I'm not a library, I'm not a national archive, I'm just a human that needs to learn to evolve and grow. So if buying a pair of $6.99 Havaianas can help me start this healing process of letting go of past trauma/memories that no longer serve me. Then all I can say is that is probably the best $6.99 I've ever spent.

Sometimes retirement isn't such a bad thing. If you never let yourself rest or move away from environments/situations/places that no longer serve you, don't be surprised if your personal development is delayed or just stays stagnant.
