One should always have at least 2 craft projects going. That way, when one of them is messed up and misbehaving, you can switch to another, and let the first one sit there and think about what it's done.

The quilt is done and shipped!
I like it all laid out flat, but I think it is even better crumpled into organic shapes or draped around the human body. The contrast between the rigidity of the squares and the soft shapes of the textile is very pleasing.

A closer look at the hand stitching on my green quilt. I’m doing what’s called an orange peel design, using a template I made myself. I’m so happy with it and really glad I took the time to start over
Also this quilt has been bought! Thank you so much to that kind person for supporting my art!

I've been ... gone ... for a while. I've been working on a few projects I wasn't really able to share and it made posting difficult, but I'm hoping to start sharing some of my work again!

so, I've been doing that little tapestry quilting project, and I just cut them down to size (as best as I could)
I wanted to make em reversible, which ended up better than I hoped for
All they need now is a border 😅

Packstone Excavation
2023, 51x44 inches, hand dyed cotton with textile discharge painting and cotton thread (hand quilted)
i was thinking about my fossil soup stones I collected in michigan last summer and naturally had to make a quilt. all the fossil shapes were hand painted with decolorant instead of appliqué as I was thinking about the process of excavation and removal.

It just occurred to me that I never posted photos of the completed secret applique project on here.
The quilt is now safely with it’s intended recipients, or rather, the recipient’s soon to be parents, so I don’t have to worry about spoiling the surprise of what the quilt looks like.
I think the quilt is much more interesting in person, buy here is my best attempt to capture it in photos.
This was a really fun project and I look forward to experimenting with appliqué again in the future.
