queen of tears pisses me off because haein and hyunwoo know each other so well but don't know each other at all like
"she doesn't like it when people touch her hair" "he doesn't drink coffee on an empty stomach" "she doesn't like the bathroom floor wet" "she's not a lightweight so how did you get her drunk"
And the phone password...
they make me sick!!!!

The world has not done me any better, been rrading 2ha and all i can think about is Ashborn/Antares as Jinhae brainrot:
In their past life Antares had a deep obsession with Ruler Ashborn and the same could be said for the ladder but Ashborn didnt know how to express much of his love and ended up hurting him even more as a result.
Antares wouldnt care for a single moment whenever or not he was constly hurt by how much Ashborn seemed to care for others more than himself or him, whereas Ashborn didnt seem to notice that Antares was deeply in love and tried to see just how far that love truly ran since he wasnt sure that a dragon, much less a fragment of darkness could actually love.
Unfortunatly when he ended up noticing that he had fallen to the dragon's undying devotion, he decided to distance himself and push him aside because Ashborn was more so devoted to the Absolute Being and though that all his faith might shatter if the two actually were to become lovers, since– thats not how they were designed, they are to be rivals not lovers, thats what his god wanted— and so when the time came he fiercely fought with Antares and left him to almost bleed to death.
This is when Antares realized that he should have never tried to chase any kind of love and started to realize thag Ashborn had never loved him in the first place, so from that day on he swore to kill everyone and become the most powerful being in existence so that Ashborn can die at his hands.
And die he did, but only to pass his powers to his sucessor.
Even when he standed a top the world as the strongest being, his new incarnation had killed him, and he swore he would one day destroy him.
But alas he somehow ended up in the body of a child of 12, maybe 13 something like that. It was a girl with no parents, no lineage, no story of her own except for having a strong physique, capable of holding the small remnants of his soul left and somehow still being mentally strong so as to fight off much of his horrible personality.
Thus with all the knowledge in the world about magic, in a world with none of it, and being the emperor of a now ransacked, brutally massacred and destroyed empire, he had no choice but to stay low and find a way to become just as powerful as before and this time destroy Jinwoo!
Since no one liked this girl as much to begin with, Anatres managed to blend his own ambitions with Haeins pretty well and become adapted into society for a good while until, shocker.
Just as he was about to train he was about to heal himself after exterting too much power in the young girl's body to win the race, his old enemy, lover and killer appeared right in front of him.
And yeah, that was definetly Ashborn, kind both in monarch and ruler form, but also with detached eyes watching everyone in the world like a lonesome god, alien to evrrything and at the same time not.
He looked as though he had been at the start of the universe, and at the same time he smiled like a little boy.
Jinwoo went on to heal her calf and Haein asked of him just how he did that, but deep inside other questions arose too, why are you here? Do you know me? What do you want for me? Do you want to kill me again? Hah! I wont let you. This time I shall be the one to send you to your own damn pits of slumber!
And Jinwoo of course replied innocently, not knowing the true soul behind this little girl as he said "Ill tell you everything if you have a race with me."
#solo leveling#sung jin woo#cha hae in#jinhae but haein is bloody obssesed with fucking him and killing him and doesnt know which one she should do#ultimately haein is just completly a mess for jinwoo bc haha her past self was a complete mess for ashborn#there is also a part of dragon culture that is ingrainned in them about how if one dragon is willing to fall in love and love is#reciprocated then the dragons cannot fall back on their world and will forever be bound to that person in life and death.#so instead of marriage and a 'till death do us part' the dragons quite literally trade a piece of their soul with one another#usually half#so as to be bonded spirtually even beyond the end of time#and in every lifetime.#haein and jinwoo are literally just outright the other half of their souls to each other haha#and thats why ahsborn was also able to become a monarch and live with ease.#this WAS part of ABs plan but Asjborn thought he had been secretly been infused with a new power by AB when in fact it was the opposite#he had been infused with half of the fragment of darkness from Antares and Ashborn had in turn given him half the fragment of light#and Thats was also why Antares had been able to be revived#since his soul literally still lingered in Ashborn all his other remnants had to do was find haein and then little by little haein too#would get back the fragments of brightness that antares once had#aka they literally cannot killed each other bc they fuked#and will likely keep fuking in their new lives too haha#okay done

I thought I would have so much to say about the car accident scene. And while I could go on for a while on why it's everything I've ever wanted from a scene of this nature and why it's a beautifully acted cinematic piece, I do think the beauty of the scene lies so much in silence. Their expressions are do a fantastic job to express their emotional state so I'm just gonna call attention to a few things I won't get over anytime soon.
Imagine being Haein and seeing your husband wrecking a car window in hysteria. Imagine seeing disbelief on his face when he sees you and walks towards you. Imagine watching him unable to breathe properly (sound on and high for this scene). Imagine seeing life flood into him as soon as you touch him.
Tumblr media
Jiwon plays such an important part here. Because Haein has NEVER seen Hyunwoo like this. He's a pretty calm nice, non-violent guy. She knows him to like mostly everyone and he rarely gets angry - he's pretty composed. But then what is this look of complete shattered pain on his face? With a mix of disbelief, bearing the heaviest heart on the planet? He's unrecognisable to her. She can't make sense of any of his actions. She's in utter shock hearing how hardly any air is making it's way into his lungs.
Tumblr media
In his eyes is a look of crazed wilderness just tamed. He's out of his sense. Completely lost in the events that have just passed. Not believing that he can breathe. That it's okay. All is well in the world for now. She's unscathed.
'What's going on? Calm down.'
The way she asks him to calm down - touching his face - cause she just doesn't know what in the world could send him in such a frenzy to forget himself. Her asking him to calm down here is everything to me. She's really just saying I'm here okay. Calm down. Calm down, you can breathe. Tell me what happened and I can fix it.
'Even still, Are you crazy? How could you break the window with your bare hands? Look at this!'
I know it probably didn't register to him at that point. But he's hearing her being worried for him again when he thought her lost forever. Wouldn't that sound like music to his ears.
Tumblr media
And her...god she's so worried for him. She's never seen him like this. She doesn't know what happened to make him like this. One she sees his absolutely broken bloody hand. Two she's seeing her husband absolutely crushed. She's so confused.
Tumblr media
That is until his words hit her like a truck. I think she had an idea that he did it to save her but she didn't know he did it because he thought her dead. And that makes all the difference for her.
Tumblr media
Also I thought it was very interesting to keep showing his injured hand clenching. I think it was a way to show how the physical pain still didn't hold a candle to his emotional turmoil. He CLENCHES that broken hand multiple times. I can't even begin to think when he actively registered the pain.
The need for constant touch to reaffirm that she indeed is there. The sitting down. The head on her hand. The heavy breathing. *Chef's kiss*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love women comforting the man they love when he's broken. Gah! That hand on his face and hug. Her embracing him. Letting him cry all he wants. Giving him the reaffirmation he needs by placing her self as close to him as possible. Trying to tame and override his sense. The hand on the nape of his neck. The hand caressing his hair lovingly. And good god, the RINGS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also notice his breathing on her shoulder. He's trying to calm himself. Telling himself she's here. Hearing her say it's alright. Everything will be alright.
Tumblr media
I'm sure they stay like this until the ambulance comes and asks them if they're hurt. Only then Haein must've gently tore him apart from her (hand on his face again ofcourse) and convinced/guided him to finally get treatment. I can just Imagine Hyunwoo completely dishevelled going, 'Huh *sniffs*......oh.......Right, my hand' and that's when the pain hits him.
Special mention to the hospital conversation when Haein asks him 'Will you sob like this if I die?' and he says truthfully, bashfully, embarrassed but without missing a beat 'Ofcourse.' He's hiding behind nothing. He truly meant to give up on himself after her.
For me this is also the night Haein starts to write her diary. Hyunwoo must've been sound asleep, amped up on painkillers and she must've had so much time to sit and admire him and write.

Haein, about to die
"I can't die. I bought so many islands I haven't visited yet."
"I can't die. I bought so many limited edition pieces of clothing I haven't worn."
"I bought the art of artists in their 90's so that the art value will go up when they die. I can't die before them."
Looks at her husband.
"I can't die until I ride you again."

Gotta hand it to the drama and say I was genuinely shocked at the way things have turned out for everyone
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, I was expecting the whole takeover to drag for at least 4-5 eps more, while Hyunwoo's status at Queens got progressively worse & HaeIn's disease advanced and just the Hong family being fools all around. I even thought they were gonna drag the divorce (they signed the papers but haven't submitted them or did I read that wrong?) But wow in one ep, things moved fast and I'm still recovering. At one point I was screaming at the screen "slow down!!! I can barely keep up!" So many things happening and then boom! It's all over and now move to the countryside lol
In a way, it makes sense because the Evil Team had been working overtime for God knows how long. They infiltrated the family, the company and even the house staff!q By the time Eunseong came into the picture, it was literally the last piece of the puzzle, a few words, good expensive looks, showing off his money and he had the idiot Hongs in the bag. Wow, so incredibly stupid. They really had moles all around them. My God, even HaeIn's driver was in on it!! That's a nightmare but the Hong are not blameless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have an idea of why, but I feel like I gotta keep this PG-13 lmao
I kinda want to feel bad for the grandpa, but at the same time, he really showed just how despicable he was, especially with his children. He exiled one son and sent his own daughter to jail ffs! And the only reason he still had a son in all this, is because he needed to pass down his company, needed heirs and HaeIn's dad needed to survive and provide for his family. That was a lot less about loyalty and love and more about fear and need of survival/getting that inheritance.
And how deliciously ironic that after being left to the sidelines, mistreated and everything else, Hyunwoo ended up being the one to save them... And ok, ok... I forgive him. Damn, it did took a lot for me to do it, but he really proved himself in the last 2 eps. I stand by what I said, that he was a bad husband and in general a bad human, but a lot has happened since ep 1 and now I forgive him, just as HaeIn has done. There's no one she trusts more than him and that's pretty clear now. I hope they find their way back to each other in the countryside.
The Hong family didn't listen to Hyunwoo's warnings and when they did, it was too late. And still, the man brought them to his hometown, to his family house, because they had no place to go and I assume they also have no money at all, their bank accounts must be either empty or frozen (if EunSeong wants HaeIn to come begging at his side, I'm sure he's gonna do everything in his power take it all from them). They really have no one else to rely on but the Baeks. They've lost everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, call me biased all you want, I don't care! But HaeIn is still my fave. Yes, her marriage crumbling down was also her fault, I don't mean she's innocent, but she doesn't deserve what has been happening to her. Who even knows, maybe her miscarriage was also something planned by grandpa's mistress. I'm sure she also had something to do with HaeIn's brother dying. That bitch must go down.

It would have been interesting to have seen haein questioning hyunwoo's intentions regarding her will (since they really did brush over this) instead of giving us that same dance of you abandoned me when I needed you most and also the cheating lie?? Please all of this could have been refuted if someone opened their mouth and said he made it snow for you just before you left for Germany and you were thrilled. And we could have had a scene of haein ending up at hyunwoo's apartment, seeing the recording from hyunwoo (because oof this could have been an opportunity for haein to see proof of hyunwoo's love thereby seeing what she needs to, to believe but also trusting in hyunwoo's love) , pieces of their relationship coming together, the familiarity she could have felt in that space (instead of a book that just didn't burn lol), but most importantly the password, and giving us a glimpse more of what went on with the loss of their baby where we actually have an entry point to discuss why this mattered so much to them but noooo things had to happen the way they did, cuz eunseung needed to be in range to run hyunwoo over.

Queen of Tears is so interesting cause i've never dealt with two really complex leads like this in romcom (i mean it is funny)
i've said it before but Haein and Hyunwoo know each other very well but don't know each other at all (i don't know if i've ever seen communication issues this bad).
Losing the baby clearly drove them apart. She blamed herself and put up high walls. He wears his heart on his sleeve and cried over it. We can argue that he should've comforted her in that moment but at the same time she clearly knew he was upset so why didn't she go to him? Haein thought she had no right to grieve and consequently Hyunwoo thought she didn't grieve at all. The moment where they needed each other more than ever- the moment they should've been together they both fucked up.
The core of the issue is that they can't read each other's mind, this is literally said at the beginning of 6- they love each other dearly but also tripping over each in the process.
Outside of Hyunwoo jumping up and down at her diagnosis and faking his way into her will (which was painfully cruel and soooo funny) It's very clear that this is a two person game. Although I always interpreted Hyunwoo's joy as the same as the mistress of a wealthy man who is just waiting for him to die so she can get the money, (it's mean but most times the master either sucks or he's naive as hell and she has no reason to mourn) and at that point Hyunwoo's in the same situation.
Why didn't Haein defend him in front of her relatives? Why scold him publicly in front of the employees? She does a lot of things behind the scenes but good intentions can only go so far if object of those affections is ignorant of the full story. The same thing happens in episode 6, she is trying to protect Hyunwoo from her family but without telling him so he is ignorant of the big picture. Why wasn't Hyunwoo honest with his feelings? Why is he always assuming the worst when she never explicitly says something? We see he tries to talk to her (it fails) but his fear of upsetting her leads him to do otherwise cruel things to keep her happy.
Which is also why the divorce paper is so interesting. That paper was one of the best things he’s done. He was completely justified in writing that. It breaks Haein's heart but severing ties like that was way healthier than him forcing himself to stay in this marriage and pamper her with fake love.
One thing I will admire this piece for is the role reversal, like i'm seeing so many typical fl tropes on Hyunwoo and ml tropes on Haein. You ever read one those isekai or time reverse manwha's were the fl goes back in time to get a divorce but falls in love with her partner again? yeah this is the same exact thing.

i started watching queen of tears the other night. episode 2 is out now tho i haven't watched it yet. i am scared tho.
baek hyunwoo is such a piece of shit. i get that he's having a hard time fitting into this family but he's unnecessarily villainized haein so much. like she's your wife.
haein just grew up in a family that's not super outwardly affectionate, and she has a lot of responsibility - it's this big chaebol family with all these traditions and this massive company.
she still so clearly loves him tho. like she did an interview just for the sake of his reputation so people wouldn't think he's a gold digger. and she went and fought her brother for disrespecting him. overall she's so incredible and he's so awful.
i love hong haein thx for coming to my ted talk.

so S-ranks aren’t officially measurable, but nonetheless significant variation exists right?
so is it correct to say the head of the reaper’s/fiend guild (translations vary) is probably the weakest S-rank in South Korea?
I know Baek Yoon-Ho is stronger than the S-rank in Busan whose name escapes me, and is presumably on-par with Choi Jong-In, but Cha Hae-In is notably stronger. Go Gun-Hae probably would be nationally ranked but his body is falling apart so he appears to be a bit over CHI’s level despite telekinesis. Goto Ryuji is on par (probably) with GGH and probably Lennart but notably weaker than Liu Zhigang or Thomas Andre or Christopher Reed, etc.
I guess what I am trying to ask is do we have a reliable hierarchy/ranking of the S-ranks under national-level? Canonically? I’m piecing together what I see from the light novel
Easiest answer? Jinwoo is the closest case to knowing who is strong because he is the one that has fought almost everyone. But apart from that, no there isn't a real rank because there was never a need for it. The show is centered in jinwoo and not much about its side characters.
I don't tend to do a lot of seperation based on the S ranks since there's always a lot of debate in the story and in the Fandom as to who is stronger weaker than the other. It would have been cool to have seen the differences or someone still being strong despite those gaps but the heriarchy seems so fixed and at the same time so loose? For example, as the reader you know everyone is going to loose against Jinwoo, and that's about as much as the story cares to show, the more overseas they from korea more powerful they are, I.e Cha Haein<Goto Ryuji<Liu Zhigang<Thomas.
And the only two exceptions to that are Gunhee and Ilhwan which surprise are actually Ruler vessels. But as for whenever we want to pity other Hunters against each other, say for example Shimizu Akari and Min Byung Gyu, (both S rank healers) or Goto Ryuji and Lennart Niermann, we only have like 2 or three fights, (panels even sometimes it's not even fights) that show their potential, whenever it's their peak performance or not that is up for debate.
That aside, I do agree with some of your analysis but I have some things to add on as well.
For me, I'll say the weakest S rank out there has to be Min Byung Gyu, since he is obviously an S rank healers and only has supposedly A tier strength. As for the weakest S rank in terms of fighting power it has to be Ma Dong-Wok(the Busan guy). Why I don't put Lkm Tae Gyu as the weakest is because, at best he is the second weakest if you round up all the S ranks, or the weakest magic type hunter since he is an archer after all.
All in all the rest seem to be the same as you said for me too.
Min Byung-Gyu < Lim Tae Gyu < Ma Dong Wok < Baek Yoon Ho, Choi Jong In < Cha Hae-In < Go Gun Hee (Il Hwan < Jin-Woo)
I'm not sure about the gap between Yoonho and Jongin, especially when most of the Hunters guild #1 spot comes from the fact that there are two S ranks instead of just one. But Choi Jongin is called the ultimate soldier so I'll put him as stronger than Yoonho. Haein is also quite easy to know she is the strongest because, practically everyone has said it, the game proclaims her to be the strongest active hunter, Goto acknowledged her as the only hunter, Jinwoo said the same while talking to Esil, and she even fought off against the Architect. So that one is an easy guess.
Against Hwang Dong Soo though, it's hard to know if she is stronger than him, but if Dong-Soo was taken to the US and reawakened his power, it's likely he is stronger than Haein. Maybe to the same level.
Apart from the S

♡ ˙ ˖ ✧ — @bexstevie
"i feel like it's gotten harder and harder to see your face!"
admittedly, she was probably to blame for that more than stevie. she's been keeping herself busy after getting back into a regular schedule. while she hasn't returned to working two jobs, she decided to spend the extra time she had to improve herself. not just in singing or dancing but in reaching out to other hobbies. she's gone on a hike or two, have branched out into trying indoor climbing and a few other physical activities that will keep her busy,
"i look a little odd, don't i? this is my teaching attire," she says with a slight scoff because she doubts it's much of an attire. however, she's usually met stevie in more comfortable clothing that this probably looked quite different. "they know they're getting lessons from a high school dropout, but it's still nice to look a little clean cut." it's just a regular slacks and blouse, but it's better than the sweats and joggers she usually wears around.
shaking her head, she looks down at the drink and piece of cake in front of her before clapping her hands together. "enough about me. how have you been? did you get a hair cut?" haein furrowed her brows together before taking a closer look. she's unsure if it's gotten shorter of if it's just been too long that she can't recall what he looked like the last time they met.

Favorite Programs of 2023/2024 - Women's SP
I'm debating calling it a good year. There's actually a lot of programs on that list but would i call them masterpieces ? Not really, at least not all of them. While all this programs are good they're not most especially groundbreaking. I feel like most of the field spent the season honing in their particular brand, or aesthetic, not doing that much of exploring with some exceptions.
Honorable mentions
Clare Seo (Simple Gifts) - NOT a Quaker song, thank you very much but a Shaker song (it's another Christian sect tho). I like it very much. I like the music, and Clare has gorgeous posture and musicality. It's very much Americana but I found it fresh.
Mao Shimada (Americano) - costume is the cutest thing. It's chock full of delightful moments and transitions. Looses points because the step sequence has imho too much of two-foot skating and stop-and-pause moments, but that's a recurring problem with Kaitlyn Weaver's choreo.
Seoyeong Wi (Pride and Prejudice) - perfect packaging for a young debuting skater and I'm surprised it's not picked more often.
Rino Matsuike (One Day I'll Fly Away) - One day Rino will choose music that is not a warhorse. Meanwhile I'll enjoy arguably the best skating skills of the field.
9th - Yu-Feng Tsai - Copycat, by Billie Eilish, choreo by Jun-Fei Ren
Arguably the best choreo in the junior field. Fun. Sassy. Unlike anything else seen this season. Okay, yes it was Billie Eilish but it was a song that's not usually picked, it was fresh and it was good.
8th - Niina Petrokina - Run, by Marvin Brooks, choreo by Mark Pillay
I liked her previous SP better, and I'm not that fond of the music but Niina wins this by sheer commitment to the performance. One of the skater where the whole body is innvolved, especially during the step sequence. That's what the GOE bullets are there to award.
7th - Young You - Otono Porteno, by Astor Piazzolla, choreo by Tom Dickson.
The attitude, the sass, the steps, THAT SPLIT JUMP. She did the right thing bringing it back.
6th - Haein Lee - Seirenes, by Christopher Tin, choreo by Lori Nichols and Carolina Kostner
First rule we should live by after this season : whenever Carolina and Lori are involved, they strike gold. Happened to Yuma, happened to Haein. Seirenes is eerie, moody and a very good vehicle for Haein. She had us worried for a moment but did the right thing bringing it back.
5th - Jia Shin - Fascination, by Fermo Marchetti, choreo by David Wilson
I never really got Jia until this season. This is I think her first program that made me go : "okay. I see now why other fans are obsessed with her skating. I get it". If you asked me, I would stop giving Jia twee instrumental pieces and moody ballads and give her waltzes, more classical pieces. Jia has the musicality to keep up those kinds of tempi. She has the lines to express that kind of music. She has the flow to match the rythm. The transitions in and out of her 2A ? Stuff dreams are made of.
With Fascination, I love the music, I love Jia in it, I love watching her hitting those notes, I love her inside edge Ina Bauer during her step sequence... I'm a new fan.
4th - Hana Yoshida - Koo Koo Fun, by Lazer Disk, choreo by Kaitlyn Weaver
I'm fascinated with the way Hana picks her programs because her choices are immaculate. For two seasons straight, down to her gala programs, Hana has picked bangers after bangers. Koo Koo Fun is outside the box, funny, stands out musically, the choreo is quirky...
Doesn't make it straight to the top because every time she skated to it, I found Hana a little bit too stiff for the vibe the program requires. She needs to skate with more abandon and fun and that will only come with experience. Her mind is already there, her body needs to follow.
3rd - Yelim Kim - Ladies in Lavender, by Nigel Hess, choreo by Jeffrey Buttle
I don't remember who on this website said that Yelim's skating makes them believe in a better world, but I do agree. There's something healing in her skating. Right now there's no skater in the field that can match the elegance and quiet dignity of Yelim's skating.
2nd - Loena Hendrickx - I'm Ninalu, by Mors Avraham, choreo by Adam Solya
Loena at her very best and when she's on she pisses everywhere on the stage. I honestly don't get the complaints about doing too much party programs. As long as she serves it as hard as she does, she can take us to the club anytime she wants. I don't care about versatility if a skater has found a niche they do extremely well.
1st - Kaori Sakamoto - Baby God Bless You, by Shinya Kyozuka, choreo by Jeffrey Buttle
Forget what i just said. Kaori wins it but virtue of trying and succeeding in bringing in a new style. The concept is cute. Skating to the string version is the superior choice, as the music is more climatic than with the piano version. And the step sequence shows how above the field Kaori is right now.
