 It was a sunny day. The sky was clear, the birds were chirping through the wind. It was a perfect day for a perfect recess. YN sat on the ground, playing with a doll by herself while all the other kids played with their friends, taking turns on the swingset, going down the slides. There was a group of boys in her grade, huddled over a bit away, giggling about something. The boys soon pushed someone forward, egging him to do something.
YN looked up as a boy with dark hair looked down at her, a grin plastered on her face. She would’ve had time to process how cute he was, if he hadn’t reached down and snatched her doll. Immediately she stood up, yelling at him to give it back. He just laughed in her face, avoiding her quick attempts to grab back her toy.
He danced around her, teasing and taunting until she stepped closer to him and yelled in his face. In response, he pushed her back on the ground, she landed on her butt, with a little hiss from getting scraped. She looked up at him, tears in her eyes as he laughed before walking away, the lunch bell ending before she could yell for a teacher.
She learned from her friends that his name was Sungchan, and seemed to enjoy picking on girls. They told her stories of his antics, how he got stuck eating with the teacher for a week because he pulled a girl’s hair. All her friends told her he was no good, that he was just a dumb boy.
The worst part was, she never got her doll back.
From that day forward, she hated sungchan. She hated his stupid face, and his stupid laugh. She hated his stupid jokes, and the way he’d pick on her. She hated the way he didn’t remember what he did, no matter how silly it was to hold a grudge.
Yet as they grew up, they walked parallel paths. In later schools of primary school, they were in the same classes, leading into high school they took the same courses, matched in academic skill. When they saw each other in their first shared class, all the way back in third grade, it seemed like sungchan’s goal was to make things difficult for YN. Anything she could do, he could do better.
And YN made it her goal to prove him wrong. Thus was born, the rivalry.
Competing for better test scores, racing to have the correct answer, never missing a beat to show off how smart they were. They hardly spoke, unless to argue, and would often just shoot each other dirty looks across the room.
Sungchan Liked ruffling YN’s feathers, always taking the chance to poke fun at her, call her a nerd, though he did similar things to her. He was the typical bully, YN thought he’d peak in high school for sure.
To be fair, YN was never very nice to him either. If there was one thing she was good at, it was holding a grudge. Anytime she’d think of any redeeming quality for the boy, she’d always come back to that day in first grade. And with her copious vocabulary, she always knew the right words to hit him with. Though, she didn’t think Sungchan would be able to understand many of them.
At some point, a classmate asked YN if she had a crush on sungchan, to which she almost threw up at the thought of. “Ew! Anyone but him!”  She explained her hatred for sungchan and his dreamy eyes, but only left the girl unconvinced.
A boy who would become friends with sungchan asked him the same thing, and he just laughed at the thought. “Why would I have a crush on her, she’s annoying as shit!” He ignored how much he truly liked hearing her pretty voice argue back at him, just seeing her as a stuck up little princess.
By their junior year, there was something new to campaign for. Something new for them to compete in, to prove how much better they were. Student council. After a year of campaigning, debating and promoting themselves, the results were announced at the Student council meeting. One of them would be The student body president.
“Choi YN!” her name was called.
Her eyes lit up, a smile emerging as she went to the podium. Her speech was about what you’d expect from a junior, but She hoped Sungchan would feel like the loser he was. A bit later he approached her, a lazy smirk across his lips as he talked to her.
“Congrats on the win, I'd say you had a good run against me,” He spoke condescendingly, but YN couldn’t help but relish in his defeat.
“Oh, it wasn’t that difficult,” she smiled, trying to mask the sarcasm in her laugh.
“You know, you should really fix your attitude if we’re going to be partners,” he pointed out. The smile faded from YN’s face.
“What do you mean?” she asked, confused.
“Did you forget? I’m your vice president!” he said, faking his own joy.
One of them would be student body president. The runner up would be the Vice.
So much for an easy win.
“YN, no offense, but this budget sucks,” Sungchan said, looking over her shoulder at the paper on her desk.
“Thank you for your valued opinion, sungchan, but Mr. Lee said it was the best draft yet, so that’s what we’re sending in,” YN said, trying her best to ignore his figure hovering over her. “You know, maybe you could go do your job instead of trying to do mine,”
“Just trying to help,” He smiled.
Sungchan always found a problem with YN. Whether it was a policy idea she came up with, or an event she came up with for fundraising, it was never good enough. YN had taken up a habit of ignoring Sungchan, confident her ideas could stand on their own. And fairly certain that Sungchan was stupid.
But their disagreements were far too severe for two people who were supposed to be partners. Many meetings had turned into the two of them bickering back and forth, where their advisor would need to step in to make them pipe down. It was becoming unproductive for the two of them to work together, fighting more than they were working.
It didn’t help that YN was beginning to feel the weight of all her courses piling up on her. It was that part of the year where school life balance practically didn’t exist, where most nights were spent doing homework or catching up on work. The stress of being in the top classes, and having to manage multiple jobs for her position was eating her alive. It was only a matter of time before something set her off.
Sungchan always had exquisite timing.
“You know, YN, maybe if you weren’t so behind on your assignments, you wouldn’t be so stressed,” Sungchan’s voice mocked her from across her desk. “I don’t think it’s a very good look if our president is always behind on what she needs to do. Stress isn’t good for the job.”
Something inside her snapped. All the anger she struggled to keep at bay was boiling up all over again.
“Can you just shut the fuck up?” She snapped her head up at him, face turning red. “Like genuinely, let me do what I need to do, and leave me alone!”
“YN!” their advisor shouted from across the room. “That talk isn’t tolerated, apologize!”
“No! He’s done nothing but insult me and my work. Why should I apologize to him?” YN defended herself, Sungchan scoffing.
“Because you two are a team. You can’t work well together if-”
“I can’t work well if he’s always breathing down my back insulting me!”
“I was giving you advice, YN, learn the difference,” Sungchan laughed as he spoke, making YN’s anger rise more.
“I told you to shut up!” YN shouted at him, her anger burning in her throat.
“No! Both of you, out, now. Come back when you’ve figured out your problems.” Mr. Lee told them.
YN groaned, stomping out of the room, as sungchan followed behind her lazily. They stood in an empty hallway, sungchan looked around the hall, seeming bored, as YN stared a hole in the ground. Neither one of them wanted to break the silence, neither wanted to acknowledge their part in their stupid rivalry. But YN had one burning question on her mind.
“Why did you do it?” She asked, her voice quiet, not looking up at him.
“Do what?” Sungchan scoffed, leaning against the wall. His arms folded across his chest as he looked down at her.
“First Grade,” She spoke up a little. “It was recess, you stole my doll,”
“Oh my god,” Sungchan audibly laughed, a wide grin of disbelief across his stupid face. “Is that why you’re such a bitch? You’re mad about a stupid toy?”
“No, I'm mad because you’ve treated me like shit ever since then. And I want to know why. What did I ever do to you to make you hate me? You took my doll, and then you never stopped hating me. You never stopped being a dick.” YN looked up at him finally. She still looked upset, but there was something Sungchan couldn’t decipher in her gaze. He hated it.
He pushed off the wall, stepping closer towards her, causing her to take a step back. “Has anyone ever told you you’re a bit… insane?” he asked, leaning down to her eye level. “Honestly, has anyone?”
“Has anyone ever told you you’re a dickhead? Do you get off on being an asshole, or are you really just that stupid?” YN asked him, trying to fight back.
“Ever since we were little, you were such a prick. You were such a prissy princess, and you still are now. You know why I don’t like you? Because you think you’re better than everyone, and someone needs to bring you off your high horse,” Sungchan had a condescending grin on his face.
“No, I don’t,” YN mumbled, stumbling backwards. The words hit her harder than she would’ve expected.
“Bullshit,” Sungchan smiled, cornering her against a locker, his hand resting near her head. “You think you’re so special, that you’re the smartest girl in the world, but you’re not,”
“Sungchan, stop,” Her voice broke, though she tried to keep herself steady, trying to blink back the tears that welled in her eyes.
“Aw, you gonna cry?” He asked. “You know what I think? I think you’re pathetic. I think you’re a pathetic girl who’s never had a reality check. I think you’re pathetic for holding a grudge because I stole your toy. Boo Hoo. Welcome to the real world, there’s more than just your stupid dolls.”
YN shoved at his chest, trying to push him away from her, but he stood firm. She fought back the tears that threatened to fall.
“You know, YN, you really never changed,” He laughed. “You’re still the crybaby brat you were back when we were kids. Just a pathetic. useless. crybaby,”
There was silence between the two of them. The sound that broke it was a painful sounding sob from YN, as she covered her mouth, tears racing down her cheeks as she began gasping for air. Sungchan took a step back as She slid down the locker and to the floor, wrapping her arms around her legs as if she was trying to protect herself.
Sungchan was in shock. He’d never seen YN in such a position. He’d never seen her beyond the perfect image she always wore. The only time He saw her truly cry was when they were little. But this? Seeing her curled in on herself, sobbing into her legs, it made him rethink his actions. He thought she was immune to his words, that she’d spit something back that was just as mean, but here she was, broken down, sobs escaping her as her breathing picked up quickly.
He knelt down a bit, feeling remorse build up in his chest, reaching a hand to her shoulder. “YN?” his voice was soft, a drastic shift from his venomous voice. When he touched her, she smacked him away. She smacked his hand away from her shoulder, looking up at him with hatred in her eyes.
“Fuck you!” she yelled at him as she stood up, fleeing before he could process.
She ran to their homeroom, shoving her things into her bag as she wiped the tears from her eyes. She threw her bag over her shoulders, rushing out of the room as Mr. Lee questioned her. She didn’t respond, just storming away before anything worse could happen. Sungchan was still in the hallway, and when he saw her, he quickly approached, following behind her, calling her name. She heard him, but didn’t listen.
When she got to the front doors, she saw it was storming outside. She heard as Sungchan called after her, telling her not to walk home, that the rain was too heavy, offering to drive her, but She ignored him. She didn’t care about the Rain, she just wanted to get away from him.
YN was gone for the rest of the week, supposedly having caught the flu. Sunfchan knew better. He knew it was likely because he went too far, that what he said was unforgivable. It made him feel even worse.
He tried emailing her, texting her for the first time ever just trying to apologize for what he said, but she never responded. He didn’t really expect her to, he knew he was wrong. When he told his friends what happened, they all told him the same thing.
“Chan, you’re a dick,”
He knew they were right, that he in fact was a dick.
When she came back the next week, Sungchan made it his mission to talk to her. To get her to talk to him. When he saw her in homeroom, he approached her with a small smile, ready to genuinely apologize for what he said. But when she ignored him, looking up only to roll her eyes, he frowned.
He assumed she was just playing hard-ball. That she’d eventually talk if he tried hard enough.
In all their meetings, he’d try to be extra nice, complimenting her or bringing her coffee, but she always ignored him, a straight face plastered onto her like a mask. After a week of trying with no results, sungchan wanted to punch a wall.
“I give up,” He said to his friends at lunch. “What can I do if she doesn’t even listen to me? She won’t even hear me out! What am I supposed to do to fix it if she won’t let me!”
“You’re really dumb, you know,” Shotaro laughed at the younger boy.
“What?” sungchan furrowed his brows.
“You think that she owes you forgiveness after what you did?” He asks.
“No, but-”
“Then stop expecting it. Honestly, I don't blame her for ignoring you. You’ve been a bitch to her since you were in elementary school,” Shotaro sighed. “You’re not going to get anywhere like this. If you want things to be better, then you gotta stop being a dick. You can’t apologize and then go back to chastising her for stupid shit.”
Sungchan looked down. “I know,”
“Then stop being a dick!” eunseok said from across the table.
“Well she’s just a bitch!” Sungchan tried to shift the blame.
“No, she’s really not. She’s a bitch to you because you’ve never been nice to her. She’s actually a really sweet girl,” Eunseok defended her.
“How would you know?”
“She’s in my math class. She helps me with like… everything,” Eunseok shrugged.
“Why is this the first I'm hearing of that?” sungchan asked.
“Because you’d make such a fuss about how bitchy she was and how much you hated her.” the older boy shrugged. “And if you took a moment to stop being such an asshole, you’d see she was way nicer than you thought. And you’d also find out there was more to her than just being a spoiled nerd, or whatever you call her,”
When he went to the library that day, he heard something. While he was reading his assigned reading book, he heard a soft, muffled sound. He heard someone gasping a bit, little sniffles. He realized he heard someone crying.
As he walked slowly toward the sound, he stepped on a creaky part of the floor, and suddenly the sound stopped. He approached the book shelf, trying to see who was on the other side, when he was met with a pair of eyes doing the same, now eye to eye with the other person. He quickly realized it was YN, and a moment later she was running out with her books in her arms.
Another week went by, YN ignored and avoided sungchan like the plague. Sungchan felt hopeless in his attempts to talk to her. He missed when she’d bicker with him, even when she’d insult him or scold him. He wanted anything but silence.
When he went to the library that Thursday, it was a little late. He had finished up his duties, and looked around for YN to try and talk again, but couldn’t find her. As he looked for a spot in the library, his music playing in his ears a little too loudly, he soon realized why he couldn’t find her. Because there she was, cheek resting against an open book, papers spread out on her table, hair sprawled across her forehead, sleeping peacefully in the quiet of the library.
Sungchan couldn’t help but smile, looking at her so peacefully sleeping. He checked the time, and figured she would probably need to leave soon. He picked up her papers and slid them into her folder, and picked up the piles of books she stacked around her, and gently took the last one out from under her. He was lucky she was a heavy sleeper, or he’d probably get slapped. When everything was put away neatly, he turned back to her.
He crouched down, looking at her sleep peacefully. He brushed some hair away from her forehead, smiling to himself at how cute she looked.
How what she looked?
He shook himself out of his thoughts, and brought his hand to her shoulder, shaking her lightly. She didn;t budge, turning to rest her forehead on her arms, and he shook her again. And then again. When she woke up she sat up quickly, not processing her surroundings, or that sungchan was right next to her.
When she looked at him, her eyes widened, looking around at the now clean table.
“Fuck, fuck fuck!” She whispered to herself as Tears welled in her eyes, bringing her hands to her eyes.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Sungchan whispered, his hand resting on her shoulder as she cried. “You’re okay, just breathe,” he told her and she shoved his hand away. Deserved. “What’s wrong?”
YN looked at him, tears streaming down her cheeks. “The fuck do you mean what’s wrong? I fell asleep and lost most of my work time, and now you’re here to rub it in!”
“No, i’m not,” sungchan shook his head. “I’m just here to wake you up,” he shrugged.
YN rolled her eyes and rested her forehead in her arms, facing down at the table. How could she have been so stupid? Letting herself fall asleep? And now Sungchan was here, the library, the place she went to avoid him. She sighed deeply, sniffling a bit, embarrassed by her tears, when she heard sungchan speak.
“I’ll drive you home,” He told her quietly.
“What?”
“It’s late, soon it’ll be dark, and you have a lot to carry. So i can give you a ride,” he shrugged, hoping she wouldn’t reject the offer.
“Why would I want a ride home from you?” she asked, looking up from the table, a frown etched onto her face.
“Just an offer,” Sungchan sighed, shifting his weight to his other foot. “Take it or leave it,”
YN had a choice. She could make a statement, stand up for herself and not give into sungchan’s offer. It’s what she should do. She didn’t want to spend anymore time with him after what he said to her.
But YN was tired. And her bag was heavy. And she heard sungchan drove a pretty nice car. Maybe she could tell him off while they were in there. She knew he would be too guilty to defend himself.
“Fine,” she said begrudgingly.
“Good,” he smiled lightly, bending down and picking up her bag, carrying it like it was nothing.
“What are you doing?” YN asked, trying to snatch her bag back.
“Carrying your bag, let’s go,” he started walking away before she could protest. She ended up trailing behind him with a frown, arms folded across her chest.
When they got tp his car, sungchan put her bag in the backseat while she got in the front. He got in after her and started the car without a word. He handed her his phone so she could type in her address, and pick the music. They got on the road, neither of them wanting to talk.
He glanced at her from time to time. She rested her head against the window, watching the road pass by as the day faded into night. He noticed the tired look in her eyes that he realized had been there for a few weeks now, but never had stood out to him. He noticed how her lips stayed in a little pout, wondering what was going through her mind as she looked out into the darkening road.
And then he spoke.
“I’m really sorry,” She turned at the words. “For everything,” She didn’t speak. “You didn’t deserve how I treated you, ever. I shouldn’t have said what I said, and I’m so sorry.” Sungchan let out a sigh. “It’s been eating me up, i needed to say it to your face,”
She looked down at her lap, picking at the skin on her fingers. “So why’d you do it?”
“What part?” sungchan asked, a bit of humor in his voice.
“All of it,” no humor in hers. Not the time for lightheartedness.
“I wish I knew, I was just acting on my impulse. WHen you asked me about why I did what I did in first grade, I didn’t know what to say, I just got angry. I didn’t think about all the times I was the one to start things with you, or pick on you, I only thought about that one thing. I just got mad, even though I didn’t have the right to be mad. You had all the right to ask, I reacted badly.” he tried piecing together his thoughts. “And I didn’t realize how badly, what I did, hurt you,”
“You didn’t realize? Sungchan you made me miserable,” YN scoffed.
“I know that now, and I’m sorry. I never knew how to fix things with you, I never was able to swallow my pride and admit I was wrong for how I treated you.” he apologized once more, knowing he could never undo all the hurt he had done to her.
“Are you forgetting everything you said to me? You can’t just unsay all that to me. You can’t say you regret it so much and expect to move on,”
“I know,” Sungchan nodded. “What I will say is that I never should have said those things to you. No matter how angry I was, you didn’t deserve that. I was disrespectful, and I crossed a line by saying that to you. And I don’t expect you to just move on, I don’t deserve that at all,” his voice felt genuine.
“Then why are you driving me home right now?” she asked, still frowning.
“Because I want you to get home safe, and I want to be better. I don’t want you to hate me, but I know that’s your own choice. I just want you to know that I’ll try,” Sungchan pulled up to her house, parking on the street.
“Whatever,” she rolled her eyes as she opened the car door. Sungchan got out to grab her bag from the backseat, crossing around the car.
“For what it’s worth, I really am sorry,” he handed her the bag.
“Let’s talk next week,” she mumbled.
“What?” Sungchan furrowed his brow.
“When I'm not so sleep deprived, when I have time to process, let’s talk about us going forward. Don’t bother me until then,” she told him before walking up to her house, not giving him time to respond.
“Yes ma’am,” Sungchan muttered to himself, watching her get inside before he drove himself home.
Sungchan was nervous. He sat in the agreed upon cafe, waiting for YN to get there like he was waiting on a date. But he was never nervous for dates, Usually because dates actually liked him. But YN didn’t like him, and this certainly wasn’t a date.
Thankfully, YN had seemed to be doing better that week. When she walked through the doors to the cafe, sungchan couldn’t help but think about how pretty she was, though at the moment he should be more concerned with whether or not she was going to murder him. She sat down in front of him, he had already ordered her drink. He was about to greet her when she spoke.
“Against my better judgment, i’ve decided to forgive you,” YN told him.
“Really?” that was not the statement he expected. “So, you’re not going to kill me?”
“I have some measures,” sungchan straightened up, ready to listen. “Going forward, we aren’t going to hate each others guts. Let’s just move on, no more childish insults, no more fights over nothing. From now on, we get along.”
“Alright,” sungchan nods.
“And you have to actually tell me why you took my doll, why you did any of it,” YN adds. “I need closure,”
Sungchan nodded. “I had some really bad friends, which sounds kind of stupid, but they kept telling me that if I did what they did, I would be cool. They were older than me, so I thought they were right. So I spent my first grade year picking on kids like a loser, trying to be cool. They told me to go take your doll, so I did. I thought I’d be the coolest boy in the first grade, but I just felt bad. They told me to keep picking on you and I did, i made the decision to keep going, to keep being a little shit until I realized there was more to life than picking on girls. By the time I realized it, it was too late.” he told her. “And i’m not trying to say I was blameless, I still continued longer than I should have, i’m just trying to give you an explanation,”
“So you’ve always been kinda dumb?” She asked.
“Basically,” sungchan laughed a little, and saw her smile a little bit. “We should study together,”
“Why?” She asked, skeptical of his suggestion.
“Well, we’re supposed to be partners. So we should start learning to work together,” he shrugged, a little less confident than when he initially asked. “Just an idea, you don’t have to agree,”
“Are you good at Calc?” YN asked.
“Uh, yeah, i’m good at it,” Sungchan looked a little confused.
“Well, i’m good at History,” she told him. “So we can help each other out,”
Sungchan smiled. “Cool,” he nodded a little. “I can give you rides, if you need them,”
“Okay,” YN agreed. “Oh and you have to get me coffees before our meetings,”
“Deal,” sungchan smiled. “So, you really don’t hate me?”
“I’m in the process of not hating you,” YN corrected him. “We have a little ways to go,”
Surprisingly, it was easy to not hate sungchan. It seemed like he was making an effort to be a nice person, which YN appreciated. He always showed up to their student council meetings five minutes early with her coffee in hand. He stopped chastising her for her work, and she stopped calling him an idiot. Mr. Lee was surprised, but pleased to see the progress the two had made.
Their study time was productive, spending time going through each subject with one another to make sure they both had a good idea of what they were learning. It was a lot more helpful than she expected.
While the car rides were mostly quiet for a week or two, with only a little small talk filling the air, the two of them began talking to one another more. They’d rant about teachers, or classmates who got on their nerves, or talk about the show that they coincidentally both liked. Who would have thought that the two people who were already somewhat similar would have so much in common between each other.
YN found herself enjoying her time with Sungchan. If you had told her that a month ago, she would’ve called you stupid.
And Sungchan couldn’t deny that he thought YN was great. He struggled to hide his smile when he was around her. He couldn’t contain his thoughts of how cute she was, or how much he liked her laugh.
When he asked her to hang out, outside of stucco meetings, or study sessions, or their drives back to YN’s house, it seemed normal, that this was a progression of their friendship. When she accepted, Sungchan felt his stomach churn with excitement, joy that he could spend more time with her.
The first time, they just went to Sungchan’s house and watched a show on his couch, sharing a bag of popcorn and a bag of candy that was too big for one person. They spent most of the time talking, half of their attention on the show, half of it on each other. By midnight, they had ordered takeout and shared their food, switched spots on the couch, and YN accidentally kicked Sungchan in the jaw.
When people Noticed how much Sungchan and YN started hanging out, they thought it was some sort of joke. Almost everyone knew they hated each others guts, and now, here they were, walking down the halls together? And sungchan was carrying her backpack???? The hell happened?
When she walked through the halls, Sungchan was right behind her. There were times his arm would be slung around her shoulder, or she’d punch him in the arm. He’d ruffle her hair, she’d shove him lightly. Either this was a new form of torturing each other, or they actually got along.
Their partnership as student leaders was strengthened by their newfound closeness, and through their growth they never lost the bickering. But instead of insulting each other’s character, they now just poked fun, made light hearted jokes. And they always seemed to enjoy it.
It was weird.
It was also obvious that Sungchan had a crush.
All his friends could tell by the way he brought her up so much. When she’d approach them, Sungchan’s demeanor would change, a big smile on his face that would linger as she walked away. He wasn’t very slick. Comments that flew over YN’s head that were too flirty for someone you just had platonic feelings for, lingering gazes on her, compliments galore, it was a miracle YN didn’t figure it out.
He remembered what made her laugh, so he’d try to come up with jokes that she’d like because he loved hearing her laugh, watching her cover her grin and try to compose herself. He took note of her favorite snacks, and her usual coffee orders, not needing to ask after getting them for her so many times. He memorized the details of her face, the way her eyes sparkled when she wore certain makeup, how the apples of her cheeks got so big when she smiled, the way her lashed fanned over her cheeks, how she’d scrunch her nose a bit when she was thinking. He knew it all. He liked it all.
He liked her.
And damn, did he know it. He thought about her a lot, trying to come up with what would be their “perfect date”. He tried being obvious, but it was very difficult because somehow, this prodigy couldn’t tell when he was flirting with her. He texted her all the time, staying up late to have stupid conversations with her, wishing she was right there next to him and he could scoop her into his arms and talk to her in person.
Now they sat in sungchan room, laying on his bed watching TikToks and eating ramen. Very romantic. YN sat up on the bed, stretching her back a little as sungchan just watched her. He looked up at her like she was the prettiest girl he’d ever seen.
“Is this weird?” She asked.
“Is what weird?” Sungchan sat up.
“Us, hanging out, being normal and not hating each others guts?” She smiled, looking over at him as he smiled back at her.
“Nah, I think it’s pretty cool,” he tells her. She didn’t notice the way his eyes trailed along her body before landing back on her lips.
“Okay, ‘cause sometimes I just randomly get the feeling that this is like… too out of character for us and we just-“
He pressed his lips against hers.
She froze for a moment before sighing a bit and leaning in, feeling his hand rest on her waist, his other coming up to brush back her hair. Her hand pressed against his chest, grabbing at his shirt as she shifted slightly towards him.
She was kissing him.
He kissed her.
Hello?
She pulled away with a gasp, eyes wide at what just happened. Sungchan looked apologetic, pushing his hair back.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-“ he started, catching his breath.
“No, no, it's… it’s okay, don't worry,” she told him, but was standing up from where she sat on his bed. “I uh, I need to go home,”
Sungchan didn’t say anything to her as she walked out.
Sungchan kissed her. How many other girls had he kissed? What did that kiss mean? Why did he kiss her? Why was he such a good kisser? Why did she enjoy kissing him so much? Did she like sungchan? Did-
Channie: hey I wanna say I’m sorry again
Channie: I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable
YN: it’s ok dw
YN: I just need to think
And think she did. She barely got a wink of sleep that night, all that was in her mind was a replay of their kiss. Thinking about kissing him made her think more. She thought about if she liked him, or if she was just flustered. And then she thought about him, how close the two of them had gotten over the past weeks. She realized she noticed things about sungchan that she would’ve scoffed at before.
The next day at school was awkward, neither wanting to bring up the night before. They attended their classes like normal, but the chatter and playfulness between them was gone, both too scared to initiate anything. The student council meeting after was awkward, everyone in the room could tell, but they remained quiet. Sungchan still drove her home, what kind of guy would he be to let her go alone? But their drive was almost silent, the music only made the air more tense, as if they were both trying to drown out their own thoughts.
It remained like that for a week.
YN would sometimes catch sungchan staring over at her like he wanted to talk. When she’d lock eyes with him, he’d sit up taller and then turn his attention away from her.
At night, the two wouldn’t text as much, sungchan’s goodnight texts stopped as YN had stopped responding to a lot of his texts. How was she supposed to continue as normal? How was she supposed to pretend that everything was the same? How was she supposed to pretend she didn’t like him?
Through their weeks together, YN always felt a little something in her chest. She thought it was just joy that finally the two could put the past behind them. But in her week (that now bled into the second week) of rethinking their last close interaction, she realized that it was a little more than just joy. She realized how much she liked being around sungchan, how she liked when his arm was wrapped around her, and she liked staying up late at night just to talk to him more.
She especially liked kissing him.
Oh she was so screwed.
The next student council meeting was about two weeks from when he kissed her. So two weeks of being extremely awkward around each other. By now, the tension was palpable, and Mr. Lee was getting nervous.
“Are you two fighting again?” he asked as YN and sungchan sat an awkward distance apart, still next to each other. They both looked up, looked at each other and shook their heads.
“No,” they both said at the same time.
“Well you two aren’t as chatty as you were before. Don’t get me wrong, i like the quiet, but i’d prefer if you wouldn’t go back to trying to kill each other,” he told them.
“Don’t worry, mr. lee, we’re just hard at work,” Sungchan told him with a reassuring smile. “Nothing’s wrong,” Lie.
When mr. Lee walked away, he looked at YN.
“We should probably talk,” He told her with an awkward smile. “You know,”
YN sighed. “Not right now, okay,”
“Okay… when?” he asked, wanting the tension gone from their relationship.
“I don’t know, right now just isn’t the time to talk,” She told him, the cold tone Sungchan knew so well creeping back into her voice.
“YN, it’s been two weeks, we have to talk about it if-”
“Sungchan, drop it!” she dropped her pencil, looking over at him with a look he knew all too well. Sungchan didn’t say anything before getting up, telling Mr. Lee he was going to the restroom.
YN sighed, regretting snapping at Sungchan. The thought of talking about what happened scared her, she was afraid they wouldn’t be the same if they acknowledged the elephant in the room. But she knew she had to talk about it. She knew Sungchan deserved to have a talk about what happened.
When he came back, YN looked up at him hopefully, hoping he’d take his seat next to her and they could resume, but he picked up his things and moved to his desk. YN frowned, going back to doing her work, looking up occasionally to watch what he was doing.
She got up from her spot and walked over to his desk to apologize. She leaned against the table and tapped his shoulder, giving him an apologetic smile. Sungchan didn’t return it, YN couldn’t read what he was thinking.
“I shouldn’t have snapped at you-” she started but got cut off.
“Let’s talk later,” he told her, his voice even as he spoke.
YN frowned, but nodded as she turned away. It was what she deserved, she was the one to shut him out first, she shouldn’t be surprised he did the same. But it still hurt. She realized how Sungchan must have felt when she shut him down.
The rest of the meeting passed with awkward silences and reminders of important dates that were coming up. YN could barely focus, but Sungchan seemed to be doing just fine. He seemed to work harder when he was a little frustrated. But at the end of their session he lingered behind, waiting for her to pack up.
She approached him with a little smile, which he reciprocated before looking to the ground, and starting to walk towards the door. Once in the hallway, YN decided to speak.
“I’m sorry I snapped at you,” she said, looking up at him. She watched as he turned to look at her, his face softening to a soft smile.
“It’s okay,” he assured, looking down at her.
The awkward silence turned comfortable, and the distance between the two seemed smaller. The elephant in the room was very much present, but at least they weren’t upset with each other. They walked to Sungchan’s car quietly, the drive to YN’s house was nearly silent if not for the occasional small talk sungchan would interject, trying to ease the tension.
He pulled up to her driveway, looking over at her with a small smile. “Have a good night, YN,” he told her.
YN smiled, pulling her bag into her lap, about to open the door when she hesitated. Something rushed her system, and she asked, “do you want to come inside for a bit?”
Sungchan paused for a moment, considering her offer before nodding stiffly. He parked his car and got out, leaving his bags in his car. YN smiled and got out, waiting for him to cross around before leading him inside. “My parents are out of town for a couple nights, so we should be fine,” She didn’t want her parents there to question her motives for bringing a boy into the house.
Sungchan nodded, and she opened the door for him. Her house was neat, everything in place, nice and neat. He looked around and saw all the achievements of the household, her father was a successful lawyer, and her mother a proud business woman. In the shadow, YN was their perfect little student. Sungchan began to understand why she was so serious about their rivalry.
He absentmindedly followed her to her room, looking around the house like it was a museum. He’d never seen a cleaner house, even with his neat-freak mother.
“We should talk,” YN’s voice broke him from his daze. She motioned her arms for sungchan to make himself comfortable. He took a spot on the foot of her bed, glancing around a bit before landing his eyes on her.
“Yeah,” he nodded, feeling his nerves build up.
Was she going to reject him? Tell him he misread their relationship? Call him ugly? No one could ever call him ugly… right?
“I’ve been thinking a lot about… a few weeks ago, when we-” she made random gestures that in no way implied kissing.
“Kissed?”
“Yeah, that,” she sighed, an awkward laugh following. “Listen, I don't know what it meant to you, but I'm gonna be honest… I really liked it, and I really like you, and i don’t know how you feel, so if we’re not on the same page-”
Sungchan got to his feet the moment she said she liked him, and cut her off by kissing her once more, relief flooding his system, smiling when he felt her wrap her arm around his neck. His hand held her cheek lightly as they kissed, breaking away, smiling brightly.
“So you-” YN started, gasping lightly, trying to catch her breath.
“Yes, you idiot,” Sungchan grinned, brushing his thumb against her cheek. “And you call me dumb, i’ve been flirting with you for weeks!”
YN just smiled, bringing him back in for another kiss.
Around school, most people had heard about YN and sungchan, most were in disbelief, some could see it coming from a mile away. Mr. Lee grew annoyed with their newfound affection, because now instead of constant bickering, he had to listen to sungchan constantly calling YN pretty, or flirting with her.
But the bickering never stopped. If there was anything about them, they always found something to argue about. The two of them always had something to fight over, always in a friendly competition.
This time, they just didn’t hate each other.

friends to lovers, angst, eventual fluff, mutual pining, Anton is kinda stupid whoops
synopsis: after years of loving her best friend, YN just can’t take another heartbreak from him. Anton soon realizes that he feels more for his friend than he initially thought. ౨ৎ⋆ ˚。⋆౨ৎ⋆ ˚。⋆౨ৎ⋆ ˚。⋆
There was something so heart pounding about falling for your best friend. The moment you feel the butterflies, you know you’re in for trouble. Reading into the smallest actions, wondering what everything means.
But there’s something so heartbreaking when they don’t feel the same.
YN met Anton when she was eight. They were playing at the same playground, and YN had gotten her stuffed cat stolen by some older kids. Naturally, the girl Cried. Maybe ten minutes later, someone tapped on her shoulder. She looked up, big eyes glossy and red with tears, and saw a boy standing above her, holding her plushie. She looked up at him, lip quivering, taking her plushie. He had gotten it back for her. She got to her feet and threw her arms around the boy, sobbing out her thanks as she hugged him tightly.
From that day forward, the two were inseparable, two best friends, their bond went beyond the playground and a plushie. The two balanced each other out, Anton’s quiet nature paired with YN’s energy made the two the perfect pair. They were each other’s missing half.
They grew up together, having playdates and sleepovers, getting to know the other through their years together. They went through their firsts together, played at recess together everyday and walked home together after each day of school. The two were as close as they could be, joined at the hip since that fateful day at the playground.
At some point, YN’s feelings grew as both of them grew up. She realized how happy she was when anton was around, how her cheeks would warm when he’d look her way, how handsome he looked when he wasn’t even trying.
YN realized she liked anton in 7th Grade. Middle school hormones running wild, she still liked him. So when she was in eighth grade, she told him.
“Anton,” she took in a breath. “I like you, a lot,” She stuttered but Continued. “I don’t want to lose what we have, but I cant pretend I don’t feel anything for you,”
And that same day, YN experienced her first Heartbreak.
“I don;t feel the same, I’m sorry.” He apologized and watched his friend look down. “But I do care about you. We can still be friends, right?”
YN gulped back tears that threatened to spill and agreed, letting Anton walk her home before letting her tears fall. She said a brief goodbye, and practically rushed up the stairs into her room, sobbing until her parents called her down for dinner. Regardless of what Anton wanted, she knew things would never be the same. But for his sake, she’d pretend to be okay.
It had been for years.
Their friendship continued, and though YN tried letting her feelings go, she found she was still head over heels for her best friend. Yet he never felt the same, never looked her way. There were times she thought he may feel the same as she did, but just when her hopes got up, he shut them down.
When he had another girlfriend, or had his heart broken, he went to her. He’d hold her close when he needed comfort, let all his emotions go in her arms. But when he got over the heartbreak, and found a new girlfriend, he’d shut her out. Dry responses, rare hangouts, and walks home filled with silence.
When he would finally hang out with her, he’d tell her how much he loved the girl he was seeing. Or he’d cry about hw heartbroken he was that his relationship ended. She was the one he went to, the one he trusted enough to be vulnerable with.
But YN didn’t know how many more girls she could hear about without crying. How many more times could she listen to Anton profess his love for another girl he’d break up with in a couple months? How many more of his heartbreaks could she listen to him lament.
One day, the two of them were sitting in Anton’s room, YN laying back on his pillows while Anton sat on the foot of his bed, texting someone. They’d been sitting in silence for a good ten minutes. YN was beginning to feel fed up, being invited over to sit in silence.
“Did you invite me over just to text your girlfriend the whole time?” YN asked. She hadn’t been around Anton much since he made it official with his new girlfriend, wanting to respect their relationship. But Anton insisted he come over this weekend, saying he wanted to spend time with her.
Anton blinked and then scooted to lay next to her. He wrapped his arms around her, hands resting on the skin of her waist while his head laid on her chest. YN hated how much comfort she got from this. She knew he shouldn’t be that close.
“Toni, you can’t do this. You have a girlfriend,” she reminded him, ruffling his hair lightly.
Anton hummed for a moment. “We broke up,” he mumbled, arms tight around her waist, breathing in deeply.
There it was. YN went still. SHe moved her hand from his hair, sighing as she laid flat on his bed, going silent in response to what Anton just said.
“What’s wrong?” anton asked, letting go of her and propping himself up to look at her. He saw her expression, unreadable, foreign to anything he’d seen from her before. He usually could read YN like a book, she was his best friend, he could tell what she was thinking. But at that moment, he was lost.
“Nothing,” YN sighed and sat up, pushing her hair out of her face. She didn’t look at him, fiddling with the hem of her shirt instead.
“Doesn’t seem like nothing,” Anton pressed. “Come on, just tell me,”
Yn turned to him, debating her words. Though part other wanted to salvage the relationship she knew would probably end eventually, the stronger part wanted to finally say her mind.
“How many times are you going to come to me about your heartbreaks?” she asked, voice quiet.
Anton looked at her, confused. “What do you mean?” he tilted his head, not knowing where this was suddenly coming from.
“I mean that’s all I’ve been good for,” she sighed. “You get a new girlfriend you ignore me for a few months until you break up and need someone to cry to. You just come around when you need comfort,”
“No, I don’t,” Anton sat up. “It’s not like that, YN,”
“Then what is it like?” she asked. “You only come around when you need me to comfort you, or when you find another girl, and you just have to tell me about how much you like her and how you just get butterflies thinking about her!”
“As my best friend, you should be happy for me! You should listen to my feelings, you should be there when I need you!” Anton scoffed, feeling defensive of his actions. There was no way she could be serious.
“Yeah and as someone who’s been in love with you since seventh grade, I don’t want to hear you talk about how much you love another girl, how you found your new soulmate, blah blah blah. I don’t want to hear you talk about how much your heart hurts when you broke mine!”
There was silence. YN didn’t register her words until anton spoke.
“You’re in love with me?” he asked and YN stood up, needing to leave.
“I’m gonna go home,” SHe muttered stumbling a bit as she grabbed her hoodie, quickly putting it on.
“YN, no, wait, let’s talk, please,” Anton got up, walking towards the door to stop her from leaving.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” YN muttered, voice heavy, tears falling before she could stop them. “Please get out of my way, anton,” she didn’t dare look up at him.
“No, yn please, talk to me-” he felt her push past him, hurrying downstairs to get her shows on. He followed hopelessly. “Please, come on, just talk to me!”
He heard the slam shut, and ran to the window, watching as his best friend stormed away.
He texted her for the whole week after, blowing up her phone with texts asking to please talk, missed calls and voicemails of him saying he missed her and wanted to talk things out. He even emailed her a few times for good measure, but got no response.
A week later she finally answered his texts. They agreed to meet at a park- the park they first met at. Anton was nervous. What would he say to her? What would she say to him? How were they going to recover from this?
She sat on the swingset, hair loose around her shoulders, feet dragging against the mulch. He called her name as he approached, and watched as she looked up at him. She stood up, and he could tell the breath she took in was shaky.
“I’m sorry for getting upset,” she said first. “I was frustrated.” her voice was soft, almost inaudible.
“I’m sorry for making you feel like you weren’t important to me. It was shitty for me to use you.” Anton admitted. “I want you to know, I really value our friendship, you mean the world to me,” he gave her a gentle smile.
YN felt her heart shatter, his words crumbling the little hope she had left. There was silence between them, anton looked down at her. YN knew what was about to happen.
“Just get it over with,” she looked past him, breathing deeply.
Anton bit his lip. “I’m sorry, I just… don’t feel that for you,” he told her. “But I want us to be friends- i’ll be better I swear, nothing will change between us-”
“No.”
“What?”
“I don’t want to do this anymore,” YN had tears in her eyes. “I tried, anton, I really tried, but I just can’t,”
Anton shook his head softly. “No, YN, please,” He took her hands in his, kneeling down to try and get her to look at him. “Don’t do this, you’re my best friend,”
YN pulled her hands away, shaking her head. “It’s not fair to either of us,” she wiped her tears with her sleeve. “I’m sorry-“
Anton grabbed her arm to stop her from leaving again. He wrapped his arms around her, not wanting to let her go.
“Please YN we can figure it out, don’t-“
“Let go of me Anton,” she said through her tears.
He pulled away slightly, holding her face in his palms, eyes pleading her to stay. She brought up her shaky hands and pulled his away.
“Let me go, Anton,” her tears ran down her cheeks, stepping back away from Anton before turning around, and went away, not looking back as Anton stood there, tears in his eyes, waiting for her to come back.
A month passed and Anton held onto the hope his best friend would come back. In the halls he’d wait near her locker, trail behind her in hopes she’d turn around and see him. But she never did.
She was absent for a week after their last meeting. When she came back, Anton felt like she never saw him. She looked past him when he was nearby while his eyes would linger on her. She’d ignore his many texts and calls. When he’d try and talk to her after class, she’d just brush past him before he could get a word in. It was like she forgot him.
One day, he saw her with seunghan, walking down the halls happily. He watched her laugh at his jokes, and saw the bright smile on her face that he hadn’t seen in what felt like forever. The smile he would do anything to see again. The smile she used to give him everyday, that was now being made at seunghan and not him. He felt something pang inside him.
He felt… jealous? There was no way he was jealous. Maybe a little. Maybe he just missed her. That could justify why he felt this way, why he wanted so desperately to whisk her away and hold her close once more, bring her back to him, be the girl he always knew.
Anton sat with his friends, poking at his food while staring across the room at YN, who was eating with seunghan, laughing like they used to when they were together. His friends noticed his demeanor, how his gaze was fixed across the room at YN, how his brows furrowed more and more as she and seunghan got closer.
“Anton,” Sohee called his name and snapped Anton out of his daze. He looked over at the older boy. “You good?”
“Yeah,” Anton looked down. “Just thinking” his gaze went back up to YN, looking happier than she looked in a while. Anton hated it.
Probably the worst thing about this was how close the two lived. They grew up in the same neighborhood, lived a few blocks away. Anton would always walk YN home, sometimes coming inside for a snack or staying for dinner. Now they always walked an awkward distance apart, silence thick between them.
His friends went home with him, they agreed to play some video games before, and just wanted to hang out with Anton, who had seemed out of it for a long while. Anton had one earbud in, listening to his friends ramble. He noticed YN wasn’t in front of him as usual, and began wondering where she was.
Anton realized how his friends went quiet, and then heard her laugh. The sweet laugh he loved so much. He turned, and saw her walking with seunghan, who carried her bag for her. He’d normally look away, resign to their broken friendship, but this time he couldn’t, not bothering to hide his gaze as she passed.
He felt it again. That feeling in his chest boiling up as she and seunghan walked ahead of him and his group. He felt his jaw tighten, clenching his teeth together and watched as Seunghan walked YN to her door, ruffling her hair lightly before bidding her goodbye.
When they got to his house, Anton slumped onto the couch, resting against the cushions, not knowing what to do with this odd feeling. Even as his friends began playing their games, relaxing and having fun, anton felt his heart pang against his chest, a pain erupting from the part of him that couldn’t let YN go.
“Anton?”
“Yeah?”
“You look pretty out of it. You okay?” Wonbin asked, head hanging off the couch.
There was a beat of silence before anton answered.
“I don’t like that seunghan guy,” anton sighed. He didn’t know why, he had no reasonable reason.
“Why? He’s actually really nice,” sohee told him, confused why anton didn’t like the boy.
“I just get a bad vibe from him,” anton explained, not noticing the looks his friends gave each other. They knew his reasoning was bullshit, so it was time they point it out to him.
“Or Do you just not like that he’s been hanging out with YN a lot?” Sohee asked, and watched as anton’s ears grew red, jaw dropping slightly, trying to laugh off the accusation.
“What? No! Maybe a little but-” he paused, putting his head in his palms as he sighed. “Why did she have to leave me?”
“It wasn’t good for her to stay,” Sohee shrugged. “She was valid in her feelings, you know,”
“Yeah, but i wanted to fix things. We shouldn’t have ended things like that, we should still be friends,” Anton thought of the last time they spoke, how she left before he could beg her to stay.
“I think you’ll just need to let go,” Wonbin suggested gently.
“I don’t want to let go,” Anton shook his head like a petulant child. “SHe’s my best friend, i can’t lose her, I can’t let her go,”
“Anton-”
“And now there’s another guy with her, who’s in the place I used to be. He’s with my best friend, laughing and getting close with MY YN, while i’m here wishing she’d come back!” anton was flustered as he spoke, his friends coming to a realization he hadn’t come to himself.
“Anton, do you like-like YN?” sungchan asked and Anton furrowed his brows.
“No! I’m just… upset because she’s my best friend and now I've been replaced with some guy!” he tried to explain, cheeks getting slightly pink at the thought. “Oh you’re in love with her!” Sohee laughed, and Anton shook his head frantically.
“No I’m not! If I was, we wouldn’t be having this problem. I’m just upset, okay?” He got defensive, trying to brush off Sohee’s words.
“No, Anton, you really like her. And you’re jealous that she moved on and you’re still hung up on her,” Sohee raised his eyebrows, trying to convince Anton of his own feelings.
“Oh my god, no, I'm not in love with her! Of course I’m upset about this, I’ve known her for ten years. It’s nothing more than that, so drop it!” Anton raised his voice more than intended. Sohee only smirked at the younger.
“Okay anton, just let me know when you figure it out,” he sighed.
The rest of their visit, Anton sat in silence, mulling over everything in his mind. When his friends left, he went to his room to stare up at the ceiling. He replayed every word Sohee said. He remembered YN’s words when she ended their friendship. His head began spinning.
He remembered the day they met, her big eyes looking up at him, how he ignored the butterflies when she threw her arms around him, how he savored the scent of her shampoo. That was the first time he felt it, the first time something in his heart panged.
He remembered the day she first confessed, how her cheeks got pink and voice shook a bit. He always tried to ignore how his mind raced with the idea of them being more than friends. Anton never would admit to himself how he wanted to say yes, to be her lame middle school boyfriend.
He remembered her most recent confession, how his heart panged once more. She took him by surprise, made his head swirl with his past childish thoughts how after she left he weighed all possible answers, everything he could say to make her stay.
He thought about his words the last time they spoke, how he was so sure he felt nothing romantic for his best friend, though now his resolve was breaking.
He remembered all the times she’d hold him, how warm her embrace was, and how she’d play with his hair while he breathed her in. he remembered the times they’d stay up too late laughing about stupid things, how she’d do his skincare and make him wear a fluffy hello kitty headband to match hers. He remembered how pretty she looked all the time, how there would eb times he genuinely couldn’t think straight when she was with him.
Then it hit him. Sohee was right, Anton was jealous, because the girl he denied his love for was now gone, and with another man. He now let himself admit what he’d been suppressing, what he was so scared would ruin their friendship. He had been in love with YN since they were little kids, since the moment she hugged him.
He would do anything to get her back.
The next week, anton tried everything to get her back. He would wait by her locker, sat next to her in classes, bought her chocolate milk and left it on her lunch table with a note on it.
Each time, she’d ignore his advances. Seunghan would come to her locker with her, reaching for what she needed before handing it over to her, YN never had to look at him. In class she’d scoot further away from anton and crumple up the notes he’d slide over to her, and ignore when he’d poke her arm. When he left chocolate milk for her, she’d rip off the note, crumple it up and throw it away, and give the drink to another friend.
Anton still refused to give up. He knew he’d have to step it up.
The rain pounded against the window, YN sat on her bed, listening to the storm outside. She was coming to peace with what was going on, though she couldn’t deny her heart still pounded when she thought about her time with Anton. She did her best to ignore the boy who stole her heart, but it got increasingly difficult when he was annoyingly persistent.
She heard a light knock at her door and furrowed her brows, standing up and opening the door to see who it was. There he stood, tall figure looking down at her, hair soaked from rain, and a bouquet of flowers in his hands. She stood in silence, trying to process the sight in front of her.
“What are you doing here?” She asked, looking up at him while trying to keep her
emotions in order.
“I uh, wanted to talk,” He cleared his throat, pushing the bouquet forward a little more.
YN just sighed. “What part of not wanting to talk do you not get?” she asked, propping the door open a bit more, walking back in and grabbing a towel. Anton took this as a silent affirmation to walk in.
He took the towel and dried off his hair, sitting down on the bed while YN sat on her desk, studying him. Her heart pounded as she looked at him, she tried to ignore it, push down how much she wanted to just throw her arms around him. She couldn’t, not after what they went through. She had to be strong.
“Are you here to talk, or just sit on my bed in silence?” She asked, frowning a little. “If you’re not gonna say anything to me then just go home-” “I’m in love with you,” Anton blurted out.
YN went still. She felt her heart pounding even harder, felt the heat rush to her cheeks as she attempted to process his words.
“What?”
“I’m in love with you, YN, and it’s driving me insane,” he sighed, looking up at her hopefully.
She shook her head. “No,”
“No?”
“You don’t get to do that, you don’t get to pull the ‘i love you’ card. Not now, not after everything.” She looked down at the ground.
Anton stood up from her bed. “I know,” he whispered, taking a step toward her. “I’m sorry, I should’ve told you sooner, i shouldn’t have pushed you away,”
YN didn’t respond and Anton took another step towards her. He pushed a strand of her hair away from her face, gently bringing his hand to tilt her head up to face him. He looked at her for a moment, fingers playing with her hair idly before speaking again.
“I think I was scared,” He sighed. “I got caught up in the What-ifs of what would happen if something went wrong. I didn’t want to lose what we had, and I ended up losing you anyway. I realized I loved you too late. I never meant to hurt you, I swear,”
YN folded her arms, moving her head out of his grip. “You can’t justify using me for your comfort, anton,” She reminded him, and Anton nodded.
“I know, I was selfish, and wrong, and I’m so sorry,” He apologized once more, moving her cheek lightly to get her to look at him again. She slipped away from him, pushing his chest lightly as she went to sit on her bed. Anton followed, crouching down, eyes begging for her to look at him. “Let me make this right,” he gently held her hand. “I’ll do anything to get you back, please, don’t shut me out,”
YN Scoffed a bit, trying to look away, but he brought her back to look at him once more, eyes pleading as they looked into hers. She sighed, shaking her head a bit.
“How could I trust you?” Her voice shook. “How do I know I won’t regret letting you back in? How will I know you won’t break my heart again?” anton saw tears well in her eyes, and he moved to sit on the bed. He took her hands gently, moving so they’d face each other as they sat.
“Because now I know I was wrong, and I won’t let that happen to us again,” He brushed his thumb against her knuckles gently. “I swear,”
He didn’t get a response, and when YN looked down at her lap, he decided he’d let her. And he would just speak his mind.
“I’m so in love with you,” he laughed a bit, and YN glanced up. “And it’s driving me crazy. I fucked up, and I can’t stop regretting what happened, I can’t stop wanting to make things right. I can’t stop wanting you,”
YN looked at him, resolve slowly breaking as his eyes stared into hers. Every emotion she tried to keep down was rising through her system. She felt warm, unable to ignore the effect anton had on her, his words being all she ever wanted to hear him say. There was silence between them, something unspoken.
She felt him brush her hair behind her ear and brought in a quiet breath, watching as he gazed softly at her. He began to lean towards her, slowly, giving her the time to push him away. But she stayed still. So he continued. Their noses brushed against each other, lightly grazing each others skin as YN let out the breath she was holding in. Then she felt his lips press against hers, soft, gentle, as if anything more could break them.
Their kiss was quick, both of them pulling away to take in breaths through their shock. When Anton saw YN’s expression, he wasted no time, pulling her back in closer. YN’s hands rested on his chest as Anton deepen the kiss, shifting more towards her, pulling her in more and resting one hand on her waist, the other in her hair. YN pulled him in more, one arm resting around his neck as she kissed him, letting go of whatever was holding her back.
“Let me take you on a date,” He muttered between kisses, hands massaging her skin. “Let me try again,”
“Okay,” YN agreed with a smile, feeling his lips trail across her skin, kissing her jaw too. “But we should still talk more about-” her thoughts trailed off as they continued kissing.
Anton grinned. “Tomorrow,” he just wanted to enjoy the moment. And to kiss her more. “I tried to be all romantic, you know,” he pressed a kiss to her neck. “My mom even helped me pick out flowers,” he moved up to her lips. “I was prepared to get on my knees and beg,”
YN pulled away, laughing at the thought of the tall boy on his knees begging for forgiveness. She looked at him, his shoulders heaving, trying to catch his breath, hair messy. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him to lay on her bed with her, anton quickly moved his arms around her, resting his cheek on her head.
“You should stay,” YN requested. “I missed you more than I let on,”
“Oh thank god,” Anton grinned. “I was worried you actually hated my guts,”
“I tried my hardest,” she smiled up at him.
The two Spent their time together snuggled up close, anton not willing to let her go further than an arms length away. They fell into a peaceful sleep, together at last, no regrets to keep them awake any longer.  ౨ৎ
the next week, they walked around school together, holding hands and smiling, back to a new normal. Anton didn’t have to tell his friends anything, they figured it out. sohee and seunghan watched them from their table, laughing about everything. Unbeknownst to Anton and YN, they had a little bet that they’d be back together. Sohee actually never thought it would happen, but seunghan knew better.
“Ten dollars,” seunghan held out his hand.
“yeah yeah, whatever,” sohee grumbled defeated. Why did he have to be so good at using common sense?
౨ৎ LETS GOOOO ANTON ONESHOT!!! Lmk if u wanna be added to my new taglist!!! You’ll get to know all I do going forward!!

Sungchan x reader
WC: abt 500
Fluff, love confession, cuteness, yn and sungchan are kinda stupid lol
Tumblr media
This had to be some sort of dream.
Or a really cruel joke.
Because here he stood, the doorway to her apartment, looking so handsome and he brought flowers???????
Yn thought she had to be dreaming. Sungchan was right in front of her, a stupid grin on his face, holding out flowers, offering for her to take them. She was confused, blush spread across her face at the sight. The boy she’d liked for months now was right in front of her, and she stupidly had no idea why.
“What’s all this?” she asked, clearing her throat, hoping he couldn’t hear how her heart was pounding against her chest.
Sungchan deadpanned for a moment. “Are you serious?” he asked with a sigh.
“What?” YN frowned, confused at his sudden shift in attitude.
“I’m here to ask you out, you idiot!” He sighed, pushing the bouquet of flowers into her hands. “I’ve been trying for like a month now!”
“Oh,” Her eyes widened, cheeks turning pink at the sudden confession. “I thought you were just being nice,” she muttered, embarrassed.
Truth be told, she did really just think he was being friendly. Everyone knew how sungchan was, he was just a natural flirt sometimes. Her friends advised her to not read into it too much, so she never was able to believe that Sungchan actually liked her.
The two of them had been friends for a while, and when YN’s feelings began to develop, she never entertained the idea of sungchan liking her back. But here he was, standing in her doorway, handing her flowers.
“Do you want to come in?” she asked softly, and sungchan nodded, taking a step further in. She went to put the flowers in a vase, while sungchan just stood awkwardly. “How long did you… you know,”
“Like since a month after we met?” Sungchan shrugged.
“You’re really slow,” YN laughed, walking over to him with a teasing grin.
“Okay, you wanna talk about being slow? How about not realizing I was flirting until I asked you out?” sungchan placed a hand on her waist.
“Woah there,” YN shook her head and sungchan raised his eyebrows. “I don’t remember being asked out. You just barged in here saying you were going to,”
He let out a laugh at her words. His lips pressed against her forehead, something that he did quite often, before asking, “Will you go out with me?”
YN grinned, wrapping her arms around him. “Yes,”

Chapter 30) Busted!!!
Written chapter. wc~2279
warnings: drinking, references to weed (no one smoked it it’s just in the background), suggestive, heavy make out session, NO SMUT I REPEAT NO SMUT mostly sfw. TLDR at the end.
Tumblr media
Yn showed up to the party with her friends, wearing the dress she was hesitant to put on and some heels that by all means should be hurting her feet. Her hair was curled around her shoulders, draping softly against her skin.
She walked in, linking arms with hanni, chatting with Anton before taking in the scene of the party. There were people all around passing bottles of beer, the smell of weed drifting through the crowd. They walked in further, finding rei and sohee and bringing them into their group.
They expanded group found a spot to talk, catching up on whatever the most recent gossip was. Jaeyun had his first drink, celebrating as he drank. yn felt an arm drape over her shoulders. She looked up to see gunwook grinning at her.
“Gunwook!” She smiled brightly. “What are you doing over here?”
“We saw you so I thought I should come grab you,” he smiled. “Do you guys mind if we steal miss yn for a little?”
“Go ahead,” Anton winks at yn who rolls her eyes, a playful smile across her lips.
Gunwook walks yn over to the crowd of his friends, who are gathered around each other. Some of them smelled like beer, but it was expected of them all. When her eyes met gyuvin’s, she smiled a bit, walking over to him.
He was wearing some loose fitted pants that rested low on his hips, a white tank top and black zip up. His hair was messy, holding a can of beer. He smiled at her, taking in the dress she wore and how pretty her makeup was done.
“Hey,” he said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder with a smile.
“Hey,” she looked up at him. “I thought we agreed to not be so touchy in public?” She poked his chest, trying to shake off his arm, though she didn’t really want to.
“Hanbin’s not here yet, let me enjoy you,” he sighed, kissing the top of her head.
“How many of those have you had?” Yn asked cautiously.
“This is my first one,” Gyuvin assured her. “I don’t get drunk that much, especially not at parties,”
“Good,” she took the can of beer and had a sip of his drink, scowling at the taste. “That tastes like shit,”
“Good thing it’s my drink,” Gyuvin grinned at her, taking it back from her hands, moving his arm to rest across her back, hand on her waist.
Ricky and gunwook joined them, yn assumed they knew about her and Gyuvin, like her friends did. They started some small talk, Ricky was on his second drink while gunwook just had water. Gunwook was busy on lookout, like yn’s other friends were, in case hanbin was to walk in and see Gyuvin and yn.
They talked about classes, and Ricky asked yn for homework answers, which she declined to give. Gunwook told them about the girl in his class who he’d been talking to. They had a date earlier that week, and gunwook really liked her.
In the midst of their conversation, yn’s friends came to join them, hanni dragging yn away from gyuvin slightly, which both of them frowned at. Hanni linked arms with yn, leaning in and whispering hanbin’s name. Yn nodded and mouthed it to gyuvin.
Hanbin soon approached with zhanghao and Matthew, joining in the group. The mood was more tense, a few of yn’s friends separating Yn and gyuvin so they wouldn’t be so obvious. The group did their best to continue as normal.
Within a few minutes they started breaking off, some going to get more drinks, some meeting with other friends. Gyuvin and yn went to get yn a drink. Gyuvin stood next to yn as she fished out a bottle of the cherry cider she always liked. Gyuvin was standing too close for anyone to reasonably think they were just friends. She turned around and he opened the bottle for her, flicking off the cap before handing it back to her.
The two of them shared their drinks as they mixed and mingled. Hanbin was always a good distance away, though his gaze found them more than once. The music in the house was trashy, and it smelled like sweat, beer and weed, but it didn’t bother them. They just took it all in, enjoying the moment.
Ricky and gunwook were playing games upstairs with some other friends, and they could hear the commotion over the speakers. Hanni was with some of her friends, Jaeyun played drinking games while Anton sat on the couch with sohee and a couple other friends.
Gyuvin and yn stayed close together, too crowded for either of them to want to be alone. At one point, when the drinks had kicked in, and hanbin was out of sight for quite a while, gyuvin’s hand fell back on her waist. Yn would have scolded him, but couldn’t bring herself to care about it. Neither of them were drunk, only on their second drinks. Neither of them could really care at the moment.
When the bad pop and nauseating scent became too much for them, gyuvin leaned down a bit to speak into her ear.
“Wanna go upstairs?” He asked softly, and yn looked at him with her eyebrows raised. He awaited her answer, which was a simple nod.
As the two walked upstairs, hanbin spotted them, talking quietly amongst themselves. He decided to not jump to conclusions. He’d stay out of their business for the moment.
“Are we allowed up here?” Yn asked, the sounds of the party muffled as they got to the second floor.
“I mean I am,” Gyuvin grinned. “You’re just my plus one today,”
“What an honor,” she smiled, holding his hand as Gyuvin opened the door to Ricky’s room, leading her inside. Gyuvin walked in and took his hoodie off, laying it on Ricky’s desk, turning to see yn standing in the middle of the room, arms wrapped around her body.
“You cold?” He asked, tilting his head a bit.
She shook her head. “No, just looking around,” she said, realizing her stance made her look uncomfortable. She brushed her hair out of her face.
There was silence for a bit, neither of them knowing what to say to the other. Gyuvin took the chance to move closer to her, moving to stand in front of her, placing a hand on her waist, while the other brought her chin to look at him.
“Have I told you how pretty you look tonight?” He asked, genuinely wondering.
“No, I’m surprised it’s taken you so long,” yn smiled up at him. “But I do remember a conversation involving having sex on Ricky’s bed,” she raised an eyebrow.
Gyuvin laughed a bit. “All jokes,” he told her, and she felt comfortable with his soft laugh. “Unless you wanted to,”
She whacked his chest. “Perv,” she jokingly moved away, and he only brought her closer, laughing.
“No! I’m just saying that if we as two consenting-“
“You’re such a nerd,” yn giggled and gyuvin fake gasped.
“How dare you!” He brought her in closer, kissing her cheek. “I’m not a nerd, you take that back,” he said as he kissed her other cheek.
Yn grinned, “it’s okay, I like nerds,” she told him and gyuvin pulled back a bit with the same smile.
He brushed her hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ear as he smiled. His fingers rested lightly against her cheek.
“You have no idea how hard it is to not call you my girlfriend every ten seconds,” he tells her.
“Well maybe that’s because I’m not your girlfriend,” she pokes his nose. “You still haven’t asked.”
“I’ll ask soon,” he smiles, twirling a strand of hair between his fingers.
“You know that means we have to tell hanbin, right?” She reminds him.
“He can go cry about it,” he said, pressing a kiss to her lips.
Yn pulled back with a laugh. “Gyuvin!”
“I’m just saying, it’s not like his approval matters that much,” he shrugged.
Yn just sighed, sitting down on Ricky’s bed with a little smile. “You’re so-“
“Handsome?”
“Annoying,” she says as Gyuvin sits down next to her.
“Lets think like this,” he says. “If hanbin didn’t approve, would you let that stop us?”
Yn just looked at him. She knew the answer, she knew that he was right, and she didn’t want to be held back by the fear of her brothers reaction.
“No,” she answers with a smile.
“Then I think that settles it,” he said, before leaning in and kissing her again.
Their kiss was more than a peck that time, both of them fighting to deepen the kiss more and more. Yn’s hands rested on gyuvin’s chest while one of his hands held her waist, and the other cupped her cheek. The more they deepened the kiss, the more they realized what they wanted in the moment.
There was little space between them, pressed against each other before gyuvin ended up over yn, her hair splayed across the pillow as Gyuvin kissed her neck. They both knew where it would end up. They’d owe Ricky an apology.
But what they didn’t know was that about ten minutes after no sign of them, hanbin went upstairs to see if they were with everyone else. He walked into where the others were playing games, even asked a few other friends if they knew where they were.
Hanbin had walked around the house one more time, asking hanni, sohee, Matthew, anyone who may have seen them before going back upstairs. This time he heard something from Ricky’s room, and opened the door.
He saw gyuvin hovering over his sister, clothes still in tact as they kissed, neither of them noticed him. There probably was a right way to go about this- but hanbin wasn’t in the mood.
“Kim Gyuvin, get off of her,” he said loudly and saw both of them jolt a bit in surprise. It took a moment, but slowly Gyuvin got off the bed, looking down at the floor, not brave enough to look at hanbin.
“Get up yn,” hanbin said and yn quickly got up, pulling her dress down from where it had bunched up a bit.
There was a long, awkward silence. One so thick it could be cut by a knife.
“Do you want to explain?” Hanbin asked, arms folded.
Gyuvin muttered something. Hanbin asked him to repeat it. “We don’t owe you one,” he said, trying to hold his voice steady.
Hanbin scoffed. “How long has this been going on?”
“A few weeks,” yn said quietly, looking at her brother.
“A few weeks? You’ve been sneaking around for a few weeks? What the hell?” Hanbin was clearly upset.
“What did you expect us to do hanbin? You’ve made it glaringly obvious that you don’t like us being together. You’re just mad we didn’t give you the opportunity to stop us,” Gyuvin said and hanbin felt his anger surge.
“You were about to fuck my sister you dick!” He approached gyuvin faster then normal, fists clenched at his side.
Both gyuvin and yn could tell hanbin was about to throw the first punch. Both were ready, gyuvin ready to dodge as yn sprinted over and grabbed hanbin’s arms and yanked him back. She was shocked at how easily she drew him back.
Her brother turned to look at her, anger fading into a mix of emotions as he looked at her.
“You’re out of line hanbin,” she told him sternly. “Until you can handle the fact that I’ve grown up, you can fuck off,” her brows furrowed at her brother. “Go home, hanbin.”
She was surprised how easy it was for him to leave. A huff of annoyance, and he stomped his way down the hall.
The two of them turned back to each other. The mood was ruined by her brothers appearance. Ricky’s bed was spared.
“Do you wanna leave?” Gyuvin asked, brushing his hair back. “The alcohol wore off so I can drive,”
Yn nodded, taking his hand and leading the way out. They said goodbye to their friends, and ended up in gyuvin’s car. Once the engine started, Gyuvin looked over at yn. She looked upset.
“Are you okay?” He asked.
She sighed. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I don’t know why he’s like that, I really don’t,” she apologized.
“Hey it’s okay, it’s not your fault,” he told her, his hand resting on her knee. “I think you handled it well. And you stopped me from getting my ass beat,”
Yn smiled. “It would’ve been a funny fight,” she told him.
“It would’ve,” he smiled, leaning back in his seat as he drove them out the parking lot. “This might be forward, but do you want to stay the night?” He asked. “We don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to, I just want to… enjoy your presence without your brothers complaints,”
Yn laughed a bit. “Sure, I will,”
“Cool,”
~~~~~
The drive to gyuvin’s apartment was quiet, walking up to his flat was quiet, but everything was peaceful. The two of them dropped their things in the kitchen, and gyuvin brought yn to his room.
Gyuvin gave her a pair of sweatpants and a t shirt to wear, and they both changed into pajamas. With a movie playing in the background, they fell asleep in each others arms.
Neither of them had the energy to care about how things would continue with hanbin. They just took each other in, letting the peace of their time together distract them.
Regardless, they were busted.
Chapter 25) under the bleachers
written~ 1173 wc
Tumblr media
When yn got to practice, the boys were running warm ups. Gunwook yelled over for her to join them, and she walked up after placing her things down. The team huddled around her, asking how she’d been, Ricky nudging for Gyuvin to step forward a bit.
Gyuvin joined in their talk, standing a little closer to YN, smiling down at her as she spoke. The team asked YN about her student council stuff. The team picked up on her and gyuvin’s shared glances, their little smirks at each other, and how they subconsciously stayed closer to one another.
Through their small talk, yn and Gyuvin could tell hanbin wasn’t in a good mood. He looked from one to the other, noticing how the two of them exchanged glances from time to time. Jiwoong called for them to get back to work, and YN went back to the bleachers to get started on her homework. She’d look up fron time to time to watch their drills, waiting for one of their breaks so she could talk to gyuvin.
About an hour in, with a few breaks between to get some water, she heard Jiwoong call their official break. The team had fifteen minutes to go off and do whatever they needed to do. YN expected Gyuvin to come and talk with her, but after a few minutes there was no sign of him. She got up and went to talk to gunwook, asking about whatever came to mind.
Soon, she felt a tug on her arm, and turned to see Gyuvin, who looked a little frantic, pulling for her to follow him. She obliged and let him tug her away, doing her best to keep up with his fast pace. When they got out of the gym, she saw Gyuvin scan the area before his eyes landed on something. Someone. He tugged on her again and sped up, telling her to follow. Hanbin was on their trail.
YN didn’t know why he was following them, all she knew was that she was being dragged along by gyuvin. She picked up her pace to keep up, his hand warm around her wrist as he led her away.
They’d look behind them a few times, seeing hanbin still following them, a little faster since he realized YN was with gyuvin. Gyuvin looked slightly frantic, yn looked puzzled.
Gyuvin snagged her around a few corners, eventually ending up behind the bleachers, both of them panting from the run.
“Wanna explain that?” YN asked, pushing her hair away from her face.
“Yeah, sorry,” he sighed. “Uh, Hanbin was trying to interrogate me about hanging out with you. Trying to get me to talk, i guess,” He smiled, amused by their little chase. “What did you want to talk about?”
YN smiled. “Hanbin,” She sighed a bit and Gyuvin stood up a little straighter. “He texted me last night saying he didn’t like that we were hanging out. He said you wouldn’t be good for me,” she pursed her lips and Gyuvin frowned.
“Why?”
“I have no clue,” YN smiled. “He’s an enigma,” she slumped against the wall behind her, looking up at him.
“That’s just so weird, why would he think that?” Gyuvin furrowed his eyebrows. “I haven’t done anything wrong, have I?”
“Not that I can think of,” She shrugged back at him. “Maybe he’s just weird about it because he knows both of us,”
“Yeah but he’s not rizzing either of us up, why should he care?” He asked.
“I asked him the same thing yesterday,” yn sighed. “It’s frustrating, you know? Just being judged for who I like,”
“Yeah,” he nodded. “But I can prove him wrong. I’ll show him that he’s wrong, that I am good for you,” he smiled at YN, through his slight nervousness at the thought. “If he’d just give me the chance, i could show him-”
“You don’t need to prove anything,” YN interjected, putting her hand on his arm. “What Hanbin thinks doesn’t really matter to me. And it shouldn’t matter to you. I like you regardless of Hanbin’s opinions on it,”
Gyuvin felt himself smile. “Cool,” he sighed a little and relaxed upon his words. “Then, that’s all that matters to me,”
The two just smiled at each other for a minute, taking each other in as the muffled noise from the gym around them got louder. Unspoken words filled the air between them, as both of them realized how close they were to one another.
Their silence was broken when Gyuvin spoke her name, his hand moving up to tuck her hair back a bit. “YN, I… I really like you,” he told her, his voice soft as his fingers played with the hair he’d tucked away. “You make me feel… good,” his words fell short as he looked at her. “You make me feel happy- i look forward to being able to see you, I love being around you, I-” he stopped his ramble and sighed. “I just need you to know that,” he smiled a little, his other hand finding hers and squeezing it lightly.
YN smiled, looking down at the ground. “I like being with you too,” she looked up at him, a little sparkle in her eyes as she looked at him. “The feeling’s mutual,” her smile made his heart warm, his hand absentmindedly staying close to her, still fiddling with her hair.
The two looked at each other, reaffirming their feelings that had only grown through the weeks. Neither of them wanted to go back to whatever they were before, awkward conversations, friendly jokes, and stares across rooms were not what YN and Gyuvin wanted.
And Gyuvin knew what he wanted.
He stood up a little straighter, the hand resting in her hair laying gently on the back of her head. He looked at her, and sighed out whatever hesitancy he could push out of his system.
“Can I kiss you?” He asked, voice quiet, eyes flickering down to her lips, then back up to her pretty eyes.
There was silence, the question surrounding them as they stood. And even in the silence, YN nodded her head.
He leaned down slowly, squeezing her hand as she stood on her tiptoes a bit to meet him halfway. YN’s eyes closed as she felt them getting closer, soon feeling his soft lips against her own. She took in a soft gasp, letting herself relax and bringing her hand up to rest on his cheek as they continued. Gyuvin moved his hand from hers, and wrapped his arm around her waist, holding her close, not breaking the kiss- as if he’d wake up from a dream the moment he let her go.
Outside on the court, The other teammates were hollering for Gyuvin, their break had ended a few minutes prior, and they needed their point guard to continue with their drills. Luckily for Gyuvin, when he got back, there was no suspicion he had just spent a good five minutes kissing Hanbin’s little sister.
Eunseok x Reader
WC: abt 500
Angst, hurt comfort, fluff, argument/make up. IT GETS CUTE I PROMISE!
Tumblr media
Fights with Eunseok were never fun. Stupid fights could escalate so quickly, and words were thrown as if they weren’t just words. This one was no different, neither could remember the origin, whatever it was wasn’t important enough for either to remember. All that was on their mind was the next comeback.
“You’re so needy! I can’t catch a break with you!” Eunseok’s words hit her harder than she would’ve expected. No insult came to mind, only words that she had been trying to say for weeks.
“Maybe because you’re my boyfriend, and there are times that I need you?” There were already tears in her eyes from the previous words, but now she let them fall.
Eunseok didn’t register the sincerity behind her words until he got a good look at her, tears streaming down her cheeks, hands shaking at her side. It shocked him to see YN like this, in all their arguments, she never seemed this vulnerable with him.
“YN,” he spoke her name with a sigh, reaching out to wipe her tears away, guilt hitting him like a bus when she smacked his hand away. He realized this had probably been something on her mind for a while, that maybe he was lacking somewhere and it was hurting her more than he picked up on before. “I’m sorry,” he gently took her hand, relieved that she let him.
YN didn’t look at him, her gaze was fixed on the floor. He brought his thumb to her chin, and nudged her to look up at him. He met her eyes with a sad smile.
“I’m sorry for everything, the fight, what I said, for making you feel bad,” she finally let him wipe the tears from her eyes. “I don’t want to fight you,” he whispered.
“I don’t wanna fight either,” she sniffled lightly. “Can we just… talk about things? Not fight about them, just talk things through,” she asked and Eunseok nodded.
“Of course, baby,” his voice was soft, bringing her hand up and pressing his lips against her knuckles. “I’m sorry i didn’t realize i was making you feel alone,”
“I thought you didn’t care anymore,” She admitted, looking back down to the floor. Eunseok felt his heart break a little.
“YN,” he spoke her name gently, bringing her chin up once more to look at him. “I care about you more than anyone, you’re my whole world,” he held her cheeks between his palms, gentle against her skin. “And I’m so sorry I made you feel like I didn't. I promise you, I'll be better. I will always be here for you. Say the word, and I’ll be there,” he assured her, not wanting her to feel like that anymore.
There was a moment before YN wrapped her arms around his waist, crying into Eunseok’s shirt. Eunseok brought a hand to rest against the back of her head, the other wrapped tightly around her. He kissed her hair, wishing he could undo all her hurt in that moment. All he could do was hold her, and promise to be better.
YN looked up at him, teary eyed, with a light sniffle, and smiled up at him. He brushed her hair back and kissed her sweetly, wanting her to know how much he cared.
“No more fights?” YN asked once more, breaking the kiss.
“No more fights,” Eunseok agreed, kissing her once more.
Osaki Shotaro x Reader
Fluff, tooth rotting fluff. Don't show this to ur dentist. no real warnings, just a lot of cuteness.
WC: 500 smth
synopsis: In which Shotaro loves his girlfriend a whole lot.
Tumblr media
Shotaro Loved his girlfriend. He told just about everyone, he never missed a chance to bring her up, to talk about his beloved YN.
His friends teased him for it, but he didn’t mind. He liked talking about her, he liked telling everyone that he was her boyfriend, or all the little details about her that he loved so much. Even she teased him for it.
“I’m starting to think you have a crush on me,” She told him one day, looking up at him with the smile he liked so much.
They had been dating for two months at that point. Shotaro could only smile.
“I have such a big crush on you,” he told her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “How could you tell?”
How could he help himself? Not only was she adorable, but she was sweet, the sweetest girl he’d ever met. She always cared for him, even when they were just friends, she made him feel valued, loved. When they got together, he thought it was the best day of his life. Soon enough, he realized his life would only get better.
When he first confessed his love, and she said it back, he decided he’d do everything in his power to keep her. To keep his light.
They sat on his couch together, his arm wrapped lazily around her shoulder, pressing his cheek against her arm. She Kissed his forehead, smiling as their TV show played. Neither of them were really paying attention to the plot, really just enjoying their cuddle time.
YN’s eyes threatened to close every moment, sleep creeping up on her as Shotaro wrapped his arms around her. His gaze was fixed on her, looking over at her sleepy figure with a smile. He felt his own need for sleep creeping up on him, trying to keep his heavy lids open, trying to look at his pretty girlfriend even more.
She snuggled into him more, letting her eyes fall shut, as shotaro adjusted around her, rubbing her shoulder gently.
“You’re so pretty,” he whispered into her hair. All he got back was a little hum, YN was too tired to really say anything back. He knows she would’ve called him pretty too. “Have I told you how perfect you are?”
“You told me this morning,” She sleepily replied, a little smile on her lips as shotaro wrapped his arms around her, resting her head against his chest.
“I just want you to know,” He mumbled, lips brushing against her ear before he kissed her cheek. He heard her soft hum. “I love you,” he told her, it was probably the tenth time he’d said it in the past hour.
“I love you too,” she mumbled, sleep close to overtaking her.
“I love you more,” he whispered against her skin. “So, so much,” his voice was muffled, she barely picked up on what he said, close to falling asleep completely. He knew this, and picked her up gently, wrapping his arms around her carefully and carried her to their bed.
He laid her down carefully, seeing her sleep-heavy eyes looking up at him, a little smile spread across her cheeks. He draped a blanket over her, before climbing in next to her, and snuggling up next to her. They fell asleep in each others arms, dreaming each other into the morning.
Bonus) suck it up!
At some point in their movie night, gyuvin’s arm found itself lying over yn’s shoulder, rubbing his fingers against her skin lightly. Yn made no effort to change that, leaning into him as they watched the movie.
They were three movies in, up later than they should be, not noticing the time.
But when Gyuvin felt his phone buzz, he noticed the time, smiling to himself. But his smile dropped when he saw hanbin’s text.
Yn tried to ignore how he seemed to stiffen as he texted someone back, feeling him remove his arm and sit up from his relaxed position. She glanced over to study him and saw his expression go blank.
Would you be upset if I dated her?
Honestly?
Probably.
The truth gyuvin dreaded being confirmed was presented while he was sitting with his dream girl. He glanced at Yn, whose focus was back on the movie again. He sighed and put his phone down, folding his arms as he leaned back.
As ten things I hate about you played, Yn finally decided to ask what happened.
“Who were you texting?” She asked.
“Hanbin,” he replied with a sigh. “He asked if we were dating,”
Yn smiled a little. “Mhm,” she nodded for him to continue.
“And I asked if he’d be upset if i did,” gyuvin looked at her. “And he said probably,”
There was silence between them. Realization hit them that this wouldn’t be as easy as they assumed. They forgot hanbin was her brother and now neither of them were willing to let the other go.
Gyuvin heard Yn sigh and felt her wrap her arms around him, resting her cheek against his side, her attention back on the tv.
“I think hanbin should suck it up,” she said, not looking at him. Gyuvin felt himself smile, draping his arm over her. They looked at each other and smiled, before just turning back to the movie.
———————
When Hanni got home the next morning, she saw gyuvin and yn snuggled up together, tv open to the Netflix screen from when they fell asleep. She laughed to herself and closed the door to yn’s room, letting them sleep in just a little more.  ——————————————
