Art by Gustave Doré (1890) - one of the many illustrations out of Dante's Inferno.
Doré's career stands out as relatively unique within french 19th century art because of his mastery of multiple mediums such as oil paint & watercolour. Alongside this he had impressive knowledge when it came to sculpturing, various techniques of printmaking and, of course, engraving on wood.
