With raikou I’ve finally gotten all the tigers I can for year of the tiger! Took me long enough and I’m missing zeraora since it’s event only, but I finally have a full party’s worth of tigers. :D
Edit: got a zeraora as a gift, thank you so much. 🥺

Zantzu(@ask-suicune): I seen your studies from a far and I've seen Pokemon that are COMPLETELY different than their counter parts. I wondered why?
My goodness... an actual Suicune... It is... quite the honor to have you here...!
"Az azuu."
Right, right... Well, there's many different reasons.
Sometimes, Pokemon become different due to their diet, like Alolan and Kantonian Pikachu turning into different typings due to their diets. I've even noticed that my third Pikachu here, Scrap, is different from the other two, as well-due to him growing up and living in the abandoned power plant.
Sometimes, their environment changes them. From my studies, it seems that Hisuian Growlithe had a rougher time living in the harsh environment in Hisui back in the day, which hardened them-in a sense.
And sometimes, sheer emotions can change Pokemon to be entirely different. The note I received with this Hisuian Zorua, which I have named Nogitsune, says that their origin seems to have been from Unovan Zorua being left by crude trainers, and them growing so much anger and hatred that they change their typing. This one is an entirely new experience for me, and Nogitsune seems to get along great with Zozo. Maybe they both know how cruel trainers can be and can bond over that.
Of course, there's also Shiny Pokemon, like Mint, my Azumarill... And some Pokemon have been selectively bred to look different, either for certain tasks, or even just because they 'look cute'. It's theorized that Eevee's easily manipulated DNA is caused by selective breeding, but there's no proof backing that up yet.

Episode 54 - Police Dog Growlithe
Oh, this episode felt horribly misplaced.
Still trying to make his way south, Ash stumbles onto a police Growlithe training grounds, where a Growlithe squad pursues an officer pretending to be a thief. Misunderstanding the situation, Ash tries to intervene and get Pikachu to take the thief down, but Pikachu's reluctant to attack a man holding a gun.
Officer Jenny clears up the misunderstanding, but it leaves Ash ashamed of Pikachu for not wanting to get shot. He wants Pikachu to be a cool Pokemon like the Growlithes! So, despite Brock's protests that different Pokemon are suited to different things, he enrolls Pikachu (and, unknowingly, himself) in police training.
This goes disastrously as neither of them are cut out for hard athletic training meant for adults and canines. Ash and Pikachu fail immediately. But when Team Rocket gases everyone with helium and uses voice modulators to to sound like Officer Jenny and Ash, Pikachu demonstrates their own merit by refusing to be deceived. Their bond is greater than rote obedience to voice commands.
Thus, Ash learns to truly appreciate Pikachu like he... apparently hasn't this whole time? This feels like a one-badge episode, not a six-badge episode.
