Headcanon thoughts of the Shermy and Beth universe so far in both Fionna and Cake + Adventure Time :
Tumblr media
The Casper and Nova game is a story told by Marceline and Princess Bubblegum fleeing into space exploration and escaping a magic-erasing Ooo in the far future.
Example :
The jewellery placement, colour contrast of the characters and different approach to problem solving being the biggest indicators in the video game. There's likely been a fight in making the story between problem solving(PB) or a video game(Marcy) reaching a compromise.
The stripping of magic is being initiated by Gibbon and his pup empire.
Tumblr media
Both Marcy and PB leave with little to no proper answer to avoid being tracked into the same fate as the civillians of Ooo that lose both their knowledge and their magic living under Gibbon's territory.
Evidence of this is shown at the library that Shermy and Beth visit where most knowledge in both magic and science is removed and heavily guarded. The library itself also looks like a previous spot for magic that developed throughout the centuries. Gibbon rules the earth with an army powerful enough to hunt outsiders of earth as shown by his species getting married outside earth in Graybles 1000+
Tumblr media
Well that's about it. I really enjoyed how much depth both Adventure Time and Fionna & Cake was poured between both their universes. I wish I can see more of Shermy and Beth's universe. I usually draw here but I'll might make more fanart about this! 😄
EDIT Someone mentioned the episode and the characters in Casper and Nova being about Betty and Simon. This is true but it mainly focuses at the dangers and obsession when in contact with the crown. PB and Marcy also lived long enough to see the harmful effects the crown did to Simon, Betty and in the future Gibbon who wears one of the jewels in his eye. Most likely it was a warning in the game.

SPOILERS!!! REFERENCES AND EASTER EGGS IN F&C ep. 9: CASPER & NOVA (1 of 2)
I hit the image limit so this post will be in two parts.
Tumblr media
These last two episodes feature traditional Adventure Time title cards with intro credits, which is something the others haven't had.
Tumblr media
There is a butterfly floating above Fionna when she enters the "Land of Ooo". The same thing happened to Cake when she entered Ooo, and to Simon later on, but this butterfly doesn't have a face on it like those. This is our first hint that something is wrong.
Tumblr media
The Betty statue in the background of this shot is on top of a four-faceted object that sort of resembles Glob's helmet; an item that she used to gain her magic powers in You Forgot Your Floaties. Also in this shot are several gnome fairies from The Enchiridion and Billy's Bucket List, and of course Mrs Cupcake and genderswapped Chocoberry. Mrs Cupcake has appeared before but I think Chocoberry is a new design for this episode.
Tumblr media
This is our first and only look at what Hunter Wizard would look like. Mostly the same as his main universe counterpart.
Tumblr media
This species of dragon first appeared in Memories of Boom Boom Mountain and has been in several subsequent episodes. I'm not sure who the giant cyclops is. It could be a genderswap of the cyclops from Another Way, or perhaps the rock giant from Five More Short Graybles.
Tumblr media
Lots of the text in this scene is hostile. There is this sign behind the counter, of course, but lots of the books on the shelf also have violent names.
Tumblr media
This series loves giving us extremely fucked up Simons.
Tumblr media
This background character looks like Phlannel Boxingday. It would be hilarious if that was the case, considering he is widely assumed to have been a disguise of Princess Bubblegum rather than his own character.
Tumblr media
This might be genderswapped Tiffany. She's wearing Tiffany's pink shirt under her jacket. Maybe she has a masculine name in this universe.
Tumblr media
We get a better look at the newspaper from the first episode, featuring Betty. It also features the fake butterfly from the dream which feels like a bad omen.
Tumblr media
Marshall Lee's t-shirt features the cake pop from Princess Bubblegum's rock shirt, first seen in What Was Missing.
Tumblr media
The Lich first mentioned being a Scholar of GOLB in the episode Whispers. In this episode it is confirmed that he has been working towards his goals in GOLB's name. But it doesn't seem like he's actually had any line of communication with GOLB this whole time. GOLB doesn't seem to appreciate The Lich's efforts to wipe out all life; and now that GOLB is fused with Betty, they certainly don't.
Tumblr media
The Lich rips off Billy's skin to reveal his skeletal form, which is the same as it was in Escape from the Citadel, complete with the metal plate on his ribcage.
Tumblr media
GOLBetty turns the Lich into a tetronimo, implying that all of the tetronimoes surrounding them were once powerful beings who defied GOLB; perhaps they are even all alternate versions of The Lich.
Tumblr media
Shermy and Beth! This episode incorporates a lot of the extra lore that writer Steve Wolfhard published shortly after the release of Come Along With Me. It canonises the fact that Shermy and Beth are rebels who oppose the tyrannical rule of Gibbon, who is Charlie's future son from Daddy-Daughter Card Wars. This place is the Pup Kingdom, which is featured in the Come Along With Me title sequence and is a central part of Wolfhard's 1000+ lore.
Tumblr media
These are the same kinds of soldiers as seen in Graybles 1000+ when Cuber interrupted the space wedding. In that episode, you only got a very brief glimpse of their jowls. This episode makes it more obvious that they are pups.
Tumblr media
All of these pups in the windows are designs from Steve Wolfhard's "Every Pup Has a Power" series of drawings. They once had superpowers, but their powers were extinguished by Gibbon.
Tumblr media
This is Jake's favourite mug from the episode Puhoy, and the house in the snowglobe is Tree Trunks' house.
Tumblr media
There is a Shermy plush in this pile of junk. There might be some other recognisable stuff in that pile too. I think the popcorn machine is from something but I can't remember what, and the pool toy might be a reference to the Lub Glubs from Beautopia.
Tumblr media
This is our best shot of the Pup Kingdom, with its space elevator.
Tumblr media
Beth is a revolutionary communist confirmed.
Tumblr media
Shermy Simon shouts breadballs, an expletive that he previously used in the episode Simon & Marcy.
Tumblr media
The clouds in Fionnaworld are shaped like GOLB blocks while Simon is in the presence of GOLB. We also get a better look at all the glitched out buildings, like that door that leads nowhere.
Tumblr media
I think the creature next to Gunter in this advert is a yeti from the show Summer Camp Island, which a bunch of Adventure Time alumni went to work on after the original show ended.
Tumblr media
There is a poster for Super Porp, a fizzy grape juice introduced in the episode Dark Purple, along with their mascot Cheryl.
Tumblr media
Jake is on these packages in one of the shops.
Tumblr media
The Library looks incredible now. In the original show, only the top part with the dome could be seen sticking out of the ground. Either the ground has eroded away to reveal the rest of the structure, or the library has been greatly expanded over time.
Tumblr media
Turtle Princess is dead and apparently a robot took over her empty shell and continues to work as a librarian. These are the first gun-books we've seen that also function as actual guns.
Tumblr media
These are the pagelings from the episode Paper Pete. They're much larger than they used to be. They don't have many books left to protect these days.
Tumblr media
Casper & Nova mention lodging in the seaside town of Scandia on their quest to find the crown. This is a reference to the fact that Simon and Betty found the crown in Scandinavia, as mentioned way back in Holly Jolly Secrets.
I hit the image limit! Link to the second part.

Is Jake dead? Fionna and Cake ep.4
I think that the clear implication that the first four episodes of Fionna & Cake has given us is that yes, by this point in the story, Jake has died.
Our estimation based on Finn's current design is that it's been 15+ years since the finale.
Finn and TV talk about Jake's love for the Fionna and Cake books in the past tense. "He loved that series"
Bearded, depressed Prismo watches video of Finn and Jake, and Prismo tells Fionna and Cake that Ooo is special because it "had [his] favorite guy" (implied Jake)
F&C-era Finn has the Jake chest tattoo that was seen in Obsidian (which has been widely interpreted as an in memoriam gesture). But, importantly: Prismo's flashback at the beginning of F&C ep3 shows Jake and the chest tattoo coexisting simultaneously. So what gives? What do we know?
The circumstances of Jake's death are unknown--just, in Together Again it's confirmed that Jake's death preceded Finn's death, when Finn was an old, old man.
We're going to observe Finn's known designs in an attempt to narrow down at what point in the narrative Jake dies. Between Adventure Time and Obsidian? Between Obsidian and Fionna & Cake? After?
AT finale end credits montage: Finn and Jake welcome ships of humans to Ooo.
Tumblr media
Obsidian: bearded but skinny Finn shows up to help out PB. The Jake tattoo is here.
Tumblr media
Fionna & Cake flashback: medium beefiness, hair contained
Tumblr media
Fionna & Cake modern age: buff boy fullbeard, full-Mertens mane.
Tumblr media
And then there's Together Again, death-aged Finn.
Tumblr media
With that established, let's return to what very little we know about Jake's death. The first scene of Together Again, features a monster-induced hallucination where Finn loses Jake "again". Curiously, Finn's design in this sequence is his familiar teenaged design from the main series.
Tumblr media
So, with teenaged Finn losing Jake "again," should we conclude that Jake died while Finn was teenaged? No. It's a mistake to take Finn's appearance in this sequence at face value. For starters, Finn has both arms here. This is old Finn's nightmare, and in order for him to feel the pain of losing Jake again, it's required that he thinks he's experiencing a time in his life that he and Jake coexisted.
Tumblr media
The "Not again" line is preceded by a quick flash to old Finn's actual face and surroundings. Old Finn is the one saying "not again", scrambling to hold onto the dream of hanging out with Jake in his youth. It doesn't mean that Finn was that age when Jake died. His arm is proof this sequence can't be taken at face value. Jake outlived Finn's arm. We know this.
Our next piece of evidence that Jake died before the events of Fionna & Cake is the existence of the Jake tattoo. But, again, Prismo's flashback at the beginning of F&C ep3 shows Jake and the tattoo coexisting.
Tumblr media
Soooo........? Is the tattoo not actually a memorial tattoo? I'm pretty sure that events played on Prismo's screen are just straight up supposed to be taken at face value. The scenes are totally divorced from the linear timeline. In ep 4, when Prismo says Ooo is special because it "had" his favorite guy, we see this scene with Jake and teenaged Finn. This is clearly the past.
Tumblr media
The evidence would seem to suggest that Jake dies somewhere before Obsidian. Finn got the memorial tattoo. He never appeared again. Everyone talks about him in the past tense.
But there's that one pesky scene on Prismo's screen where he's alive during Finn's 20-somethings, concurrent with the tattoo.
So I will posit a few theories to you:
No body, no death. Jake is alive. He's living in a different universe now and that's why Prismo says Ooo "had" his favorite guy. Now Jake lives in the Crystal Dimension with Lady Rainicorn but can return to Ooo from time to time. Remember: rainicorns are native to the Crystal Dimension. We've even pointed out previously a pretty undisputed fan theory that Crystal Dimension rainicorn pup descendants were featured in Graybles 1000+. It makes sense that Jake would seek a future there. And I don't think it's out of character that Finn would get that tattoo as a sign of devotion to Jake when Jake makes that big decision to set off on his own. Jake will die later.
Jake has become displaced from time and had an unspecified number of adventures in future eras. (i.e. Jake is extracted from the timeline before Obsidian and presumed dead, but then appears sporadically at other times throughout Finn's life, like in the scene shown on Prismo's screen). @uncivilizedelk posted a video analyzing the F&C intro and concludes that time shenanigans are probably incoming.
youtube
Theory 3 would be that Jake died via normal means after the scene on Prismo's screen but before the events of Fionna & Cake. And I'm sorry, but I don't buy it.
The whole thing screams red herrings and misdirections. I'd wager Jake appears alive at some point during this series in a large fan-pleaser moment.
Jake's death has been foreshadowed in this series for so long I just cannot imagine they'd let us off easy and have him die offscreen. We'll see it someday. Some way.

so someone translated the bus destination and it says "comet" which implies that betty is now managing to separate herself from golb and be reincarnated into a catalyst comet. the catalyst comet hits earth every 1000 years or so. the last one was the one that orgalorg tried to eat a couple years before the finale. that means.... THE BETTY COMET HITS EARTH SOMETIME BETWEEN GRAYBLES 1000+ AND THE FIRST TIME WE MEET BETH AND SHERMY
im not sure how confirmed the comet is but with the butterfly + it makes so much sense.. here's how the adventure time 1000+ spinoff can still happen

I'm so worried about what will happen to Simon because. We know that in the future (in Ooo, in the time of Graybles 1000+) we see The Ice Thing and not The Ice King. So what the fuck happens to him???

May I request some PB in Ooo 1000+? Can't help but imagine she'd go back to roaming around and scavenging like when she was a kid, with the candy peeps safe in the Prizeball Guardian.
Tumblr media
02/06/22: Oh she's definitely still around! If you look at the Prize Ball Guardian's early designs, I think it's implied that his body had housing in it, where I've always assumed PB lives!
Outfit is inspired by her outfit in Bonnibel Bubblegum, as well as Steve Wolfhard's future concepts.
