i had the idea for this one-shot for a week now and we're merely hours away from Ahsoka's finale, so might as well drop it right now
Voices of the Force
The world around him was swirling in bloodstained madness, pulling him both sides and making him scream in unison with the voice of his enemy, who was biting on his name, as a loth-wolf on a prey.
"EZRA BRIDGER!"
Ezra was turning inside out, his worn out skin taking place of his broken bones and his very soul desperately trying to escape this cage of blue chaos he unleashed. His vision was veiled by sheer curtain of pain and tears, his ears could not hear anything but his pumping heart and voice of Thrawn, burning inside his mind an everlasting mark.
Force was the only thing he could rely on right now.
Oh, how much he wanted to become one with it right now.
But something was telling him he couldn't.
Not yet.
"EZRA BRIDGER!" Thrawn roared, his wrath seen by Ezra for the first time. He stumbled, feeling the pressure of hyperspace eating them both alive, and let go. Door opened, stormtroopers instantly poured in just to be taken out hy purgils' tentacles and the storm of glass shards. Ezra grabbed a blaster and drew one of the helmets with the Force. He needed to breathe. His lungs were giving up and needed help. His blood was streaming down his ribcage and thigh, staining his clothes and the floors. Ezra wanted to give in, because it was so easy.
He just needed to close his eyes and let go and it all would be over. But something was not letting him do that.
Ezra could feel his legs betraying him, and he backed off, falling onto one of the tentacles. It felt cold yet familiar - he knew he could trust purgils, even if they were dragging him across space alongside his enemy.
"Help me," Ezra whispered, his voice barely audible. He wanted to give up so badly, he wanted to lay down and let soft mist of nothingness devour him completely, he wanted his pain to stop. Tentacle gently hugged him, lifted his body and lowered him behind the doors. Ezra couldn't feel his left arm yet he rose it to channel the Force. The doors were shut, last scream out of Trawn's mouth died behind them.
Ezra leaned on the wall, his breath still supported by the helmet, and heavily stumbled on his shaking legs. He needed to go right now. Where? He had no idea.
Back? To the others?
Well, this path was closed for good.
There was no one but him, his everlasting pain and the Force.
Ezra slipped on his own blood, and flopped on the floor, so tired and scared he didn't even scream.
"Kanan..." he called, trying to grasp on anything but finding nothingness welcoming him with open embrace. "Kanan..."
Ahsoka said, Kanan became part of the cosmic Force. Ezra would be part of it as well, but... It felt so unfair. Not for him, no. Ezra learned his lesson and found the moment he was needed the most, just like his master. But for the Specters...
Ezra swallowed hardly, his throat splitting at the seams, and tried to grip the wall, leaving a bloody handmark.
"Kanan..." he whimpered, like a little boy. Why must've it been so unfair?! "I can't..."
Ezra felt tears falling down his face and could not differentiate it from blood.
"YOU MUST SURVIVE."
Ezra squeezed his palm on his injured side and tried to push himself up. He needed to go, but it was so hard...
"I can't," Ezra cried in strangled voice, feeling how last sparks of life were on their way to leave him. "I want to, but I can't."
"YOU MUST, BOY," Ezra could not recognize the voice. It was low and stern, but Ezra could feel worry behind it. "USE THE FORCE. SURVIVE."
"Force..." Ezra leaned on the wall once more, his breathing getting shallower every second. The Force was around him, dancing in some crazy waltz, ready to take him in its peaceful embrace.
"Pull the glass out of your wound," it was another voice Ezra didn't hear before. It was of a woman, calm and comforting. Ezra closed his eyes, his eyelids heavy as a thousand mountains, and tried to focus on his body.
He was in one piece still, but he could feel blood leaving his body swiftly. Glass cuts, on his arms and his legs, one right on his side, where blood was leaking heavily, and burn on his left shoulder. It was so much. It was too much to handle alone.
"You're not alone, my child," Ezra wanted to cry and collapse in the arms of whoever's voice it was. It was soothing, yet it needed him to fight still.
"USE THE FORCE," the low voice repeated, a bit softer this time, as a mentor, who was finally warming up to their student.
Ezra gathered the strength he had left and opened his palm, letting the Force course through his very being, channeling to the point in his side where pain was the sharpest. Something was off there, something alien was piercing his muscle, tearing deeper inside his body. And when he got a Force grip, he pulled.
His scream must've shaken the whole Chimera and if it wasn't for purgils, this agonizing scream itself would tear the ship apart.
"STAY AWAKE," low voice bit, and Ezra coughed on hot air in his helmet, feeling sharp tears of pain streaming down his face.
"Stop it," it sounded awfully like Hera. Ezra gritted his teeth, trying to grip the thought, have something good to think about aside from this pain that was tearing his insides out. "You're doing great, Ezra. Just a little more."
Ezra didn't even think about how in the Force the voice knew his name. All his senses were drowning in burning pain, only his grip became stronger and stronger until the glass finally left his body, opening new way for blood to escape as well.
"Listen," voice begged, and Ezra tried his best not to fall into cold pitch black slumber calling him with a promise of rest. "Ezra, you need to close the wound. Pull the sides together and let them close."
"How..." Ezra managed to breathe out, his mind becoming more and more clouded. Echo of his thoughts was deafening, it was harder and harder to keep his focus. It was all he had left.
"The Force, my boy," Ezra could swear he felt a gentle touch on his cheek, reminding him of his mother so much he wanted to lean into it and cry his lungs out. "The Force is strong in you. Let us help. Let it flow through you."
He gulped, blood in his mouth as well, and let the feeling of the Force sweep him. It was so acutely sharp, Ezra could swear he saw someone's dark skin, someone's gentle smile, he could feel someone direct his hands.
Pain was blinding. Well, a jedi didn't need his eye sight. They had the Force.
Ezra felt like he was sewing a torn cloth back together, except the cloth being himself. It was maddening and he was absolutely sure he could not do it alone. But he wasn't.
"Good job, Ezra," he could hear smile in the voice. His breathing was getting deeper, calmer. "You are very brave, my boy, and very strong."
Ezra shook his head slightly.
"It's not... Over yet..." he whispered, helmet still muting his voice.
"I know," the voice whispered again. Ezra opened his eyes, his visor covered with his own blood. "But you will be alright. Caleb taught you well."
"Kanan," Ezra breathed out once more, letting his head hit the wall behind his back.
"MOVE, YOUNG BRIDGER," low voice was there again, and Ezra had a strange willing to smirk on hearing it. "IT IS NOT YOUR TIME YET. YOU MUST MOVE ONWARD."
"Give me a break," Ezra whispered, trying to recollect control over his beaten up body. "Just a couple more moments."
"YOU MUST SURVIVE."
"I will," he nodded lightly. "Just you stop yelling in my ear."
Ezra could swear he heard a light chuckle.
"Remember, Ezra," he opened his eyes, and pushed himself up. "You are not alone. Even if you can't see or hear it."
"I know," he leaned on the wall, breathing heavily. "Force unites us. Tell Kanan I'll be fine."
"THE FORCE WILL BE WITH YOU, YOUNG BRIDGER."
Ezra swallowed, closing his eyes. Force around him was calming down. It felt like it was moving away, slowly and lazily, like a gentle tide, leaving him on the shore.
"Thank you," he breathed out, before taking the first step and slowly moving down the corridor.

@ anon with the lovely hospital AU, apologies for the delay i was chewing on this for a couple days haha there's a whole season of grey's anatomy primetime soap worthy material. i love how fully you've filled out the AU with characters and unspooled all the drama. i can see why it would be difficult to write, it does have a big scope of imagination there. thank you for sharing it with meeeeeee
for everyone 700 words of lovely obikin hospital AU worldbuilding, continued beneath the cut!!
Shmi is a renowned heart surgeon. Best there is in the country (not just the state thank you very much) and she did it all while her son was young. Her grandmother (Grandma Mira) and her two cousins (Peli Moto and Beru Whitesun ) both helped her out a ton. She is admired and Skywalker is a name very well known in medical circles.
She decided to became a heart surgeon when her own mother (insert name here) died from a heart issue that no one wanted to touch surgically. Anakin was 9 years old. Anakin has his mom up on a pedestal - she is perfect and smart, the best surgeon, the best mom, she’s done it all. Anakin feels the pressure to be just as good as his mom. People expect him to be just as brilliant and successful as his mother. He expects it from himself. Shmi just wants him to be happy. Anakin is ready to start his residency at 25. His mother is in line to be chief of surgery at the hospital she works at (Twin Suns Medical Center). Its considered the hospital to intern at if you want your specialty to be heart surgery. Anakin isn’t really sure what he wants to specialize in, and he doesn’t want people to say that he got it easy during his internship. So he goes to the next best thing (it’s actually the number one hospital overall in the country but to Anakin is second to the hospital where shmi works because Shmi works there). He goes to Jedi Coruscant General Hospital. Chief Executive officer (in charge of whole hospital) : Breha Organa Chief of Surgery : Bail Organa (general surgeon) Brain Surgeon (top brain guy in the country) : Obi-Wan Kenobi 4th year resident: Padme Amidala (Anakin’s assigned resident) Heart Surgeon: Mace Windu Trauma Surgeon: Shaak Ti Pediatric Surgeon: Plo Koon Neonatal Surgeon: Siri Tachi Plastic Surgeon: Quinlan Vos Orthopedic Surgeon: Qui-Gon Jinn Head of the hospital board: Mon Mothma Cancer surgeon: Jocosta Nu Eye Surgeon: Dooku Vascular Surgeon: Wolffe Yoda - retired chief of surgery and general surgeon Anakin’s cohort: Aayla, Ferus Olin, Rex, Jesse, Echo, Fives 4th Year Residents: Sabe, Clovis, Bly 5th year residents: Depa Billaba, Bultar Swan, Cody Anakin’s running late on his first day, in the parking lot he’s too distracted trying to make sure he has everything in his bag that he bumps into a red head and spills the red head’s hot tea all of his shirt. “shit. Fuck. Sorry. Sorry.” Keeps walking but turns around to walk backwards to meet the really pretty blue eyes of the definitely pissed off red head “I owe you. I’ll bring you a … a coffee? Was it coffee during lunch. Sorry!” Ferus Olin, a childhood nemesis makes his appearance. He’s assigned to be Padme’s intern (the woman who gave him back his engagement ring when he was 22 and 27. He hadn’t realized she was back in town and that maybe it was purposeful that he didn’t know). Its turning out to be a truly shit day and then the pretty red head from the parking lot makes his appearance and anakin wants to sink into the ground. But. The red head picks him to help him with a surgery. … Its pretty much a grey’s anatomy AU. Obi-Wan and anakin start hooking up pretty much immediately. Ferus Olin and Anakin make nice and turn out to be pretty decent friends. Then. Anakin realizes that Padme had kids, with him. The twins. And never told him. 🤯. That’s smoothed over. He’s a dad now. He loves it. Obi-Wan’a supportive. Their secret relationship is starting to not be so secret anymore. Then. obi-wan’s ex wife (Satine Kryze) pop in with a kid. obi-wan’s kid. Obi-Wan never told him that he’d been married or that he had a kid. They break up. Anakin thinks about quitting. Then about transferring. Then gets side tracked because Aunt Beru (his mom’s cousin) got married and her husband’s dad was in a bad car crash. Its all hands on deck to save his life. Shmi makes an appearance at the hospital and Obi-Wan realizes that Anakin is Shmi’s son 🤯 Owen’s dad makes it. Anakin and Obi-Wan make up. Their relationship is outted but everything works out. There’s other small and big dramas but thats pretty much it lol

Hello fellow Jocasta Nu fans! Here is the fanfic rec list as promised:
And thrive until we grieve (then get the strength to leave) – Riv_ika
A fantastic take on the classic Obi-Wan-gets-a-different-master-after-that-council-scene-in-The-Phantom-Menace. I would best describe Jocasta as “feral archivist grandma” in this one. She holocalls Dooku (who – from what I understand – is not a Sith lord yet, in this AU). There is also the bonus of Feemor (Qui-Gon’s first padawan found in canon in Jedi – The Dark Side issue 1) and the fantastic stuff with Mace and Depa Billaba. It’s ongoing so that’s an added plus!
Half Light – Aethir
Part of the “Crashing Down” series, where Obi Wan is a Sithspawn. In this particular installment Jocasta, Dooku, and Sifo-Dyas meet for their book club/ sith gossiping discussion over tea. Personally, I love this trio as nothing is quite as fun as chaos librarian, posh aristocrat, and man driven insane by visions. I love the whole series but for Jocasta Nu only fans just check this one out!
Biscuits in the Library – Fialleril
Tiny Anakin meets Jocasta Nu. I don’t want to spoil it, so just go read it! This is a very adorable and fluffy fic.Very well liked for a reason!
General Jocasta – BairnSidhe
Exactly what it says on the tin. Jocasta Nu stumbles on Obi Wan trying to cram whatever the Star Wars equivalent of a Westpoint education is into his brain before he is deployed as GAR general and is like “PAH! You want this one guy to lead the war effort? Librarians assemble and let’s go kick Dooku’s wrinkly ass.” I’m quoting directly from the text now, but she literally says “We have a war to win, gentlebeings”, which I found funny. As I said before, I am a big fan of violent librarians (I am projecting). But anyway, it’s a very fun read!
a bittersweet farewell – S_C_G
Handsdown, one of my favorite Star Wars fanfic authors. This is part of the series called “senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps”, where the Jedi leave their temple on Coruscant. The fic primarily deals with Jocasta Nu saying good buy to the librarian and temple she's called home for all her life. An absolutely beautiful series, but this is my favorite installment of the whole thing! I cried.
I will update this as needed as I am sure I missed some great ones!
As always, make sure to leave a kudos and a nice comment on your way out :)

Overview of the Guard OCs
sorted by age:
Masin Vel Afad - Masin is the product of me going 'what if there was a Guard that's older than Cin, actually?' Like, yes, that's his boss, but also Masin had that mask since before Cin was a Battlemaster, so really. Who is winning here. Raised two Padawans successfully to Knighthood prior to joining the Guard and is the most dad-coded jedi to ever exist. Some voices claim he was born a dad.
Hack - saw entirely too many shitty cop holodramas as a Youngling, latched onto the 'grumpy hacker' stereotype and made it his entire personality. He is one of the Guard's internal IT team, since his stature (he is toydarian) doesn't really allow for him to, well, blend in with the visible Guards. There were some attempts at stacking several smaller Guards ontop of each other but that resulted in 4 traumatized crèchelings and one very angry Cin Drallig. Voices claim that that was Hack's villain origin story and the reason for his incessant blackmailing-fetish.
Ranatward 'Nat' Missalek - rumored to be the source of all chaos in the Guard. Would not claim otherwise. Although xe is a Jedi through and through and takes a lot of pride in being a member of the Order, xe has a very social streak that some mighr claim is antithetical to the work as a Guard. But those who work with xem know that's not true because Nat is the kit that holds them together. Sometimes literally, xe is very much a hugger.
Zessh Jarid - take your Grandma's old and kinda grumpy cat. Subtract the age and give her opposable thumbs and space magic. Now you have Zessh. Her favorite assignments are those where they have to take up post near the Crèches, she could watch the Initiates play all day long. There are many pots going on on how long it will take her to get over her pride and give up the mask in favor of taking a Padawan or becoming a Crèchemaster (or both). She herself has actually placed a bid as well, which some voices may claim is unfair, but no one knows on what.
Yon Tar - is voices. Feemor's older Crèchemate. As children they looked a lot alike (minus the glowing) so they were mixed up several times. He was the one who first approached Cin to take Feemor into the Guard after he was repudiated. In the same proposal he offered to discreetly disappear Qui-Gon Jinn, which was vetoed by the Battlemaster. But Yon still has the plan, as a contingency. He was Mace Windu's Padawan before Depa Billaba and originally joined the Guard to avoid having to interact with people and politicians outside the Order. They always get weird about his diathim heritage.
Yorra-Serra - was the Squad Baby before Feemor joined and is very much enjoying life as a middle child now. Is in the strange position to be a second-generation Temple Guard, although she only found out about that after she joined. Her Master had been a Guard before they retired, became an Archivist and raised Yorra to Knighthood. The one Knight in that particular Guard Squad that seems impervious to blackmail - mostly because both Yon and Hack have yet to find some on her.
