Luz’s dad gave her her first copy of Azura right before he died!!! That was the last thing she had from him. Not only is this a special interest of Luz’s, but it is solidified in grief and a way to connect to her dad. Her love for Azura goes wayyyyy deeper than just a book series she found. No wonder Azura is her primary mode of escapism. TvT

(You know that really cool drama/comedy fic idea I had of Luz and Philip that I talked about here, where they legitimately make that deal to be his guide and they sign it with an ever lasting oath? And they’re more or less stuck together in the human realm?)

Well I’m writing it.

It’s going to be called “Mortal Coil”, and it is indeed going to be a drama/comedy, with unexpected twists that will wind up interchanging things with Luz and Philip as they’re forced to interact in a world both realize neither are sure if they belong in anymore. And I don’t have much yet, but here’s a snippet.)

“You know, I never really understood how these oaths worked, even when I made one with Amity,” Luz admitted. “I just assumed in our witch’s duel if I lost or something…I’d lose the ability to use magic.”

“You might have.” Philip strode nonchalantly to where he still had his old satchel perched upon his work table. All these years and somehow he’d maintained it in such good condition. Just like the tacky suit he donned. “The spell works as a fail safe. In duels it gives the opposing side their terms of conditions if they win. And for an oath itself, if the other person attempts to betray them…they will be forced to give in to the terms that were set. The closest that’s in the realm of possibility anyhow.”

He leaned in close to her face. “In other words, you attempt to abandon me somewhere or kill me in that realm, then there’s no telling what will happen…but it will not be good for those you want to protect, Luz.”

Luz stiffened. Well getting him struck with a car was out then. “If you die it breaks our deal? Bit unfair man. Like, I don’t think you realize how many things could kill you there, especially since you don’t know anything about Earth now.”

“No. It’s only if you have a hand in it somehow. But it shouldn’t be an issue for you. You wouldn’t want to risk breaking our deal for some…petty revenge now, right?” He wore the same amused ‘cat toying with its prey’ expression as he always did with her. Always so sadistic, so smug.

“Smart to see you implemented some fail safe into this plan,” Luz said sarcastically. “Needed the extra security, did’ya?”

“Well we are stepping into a world that admittedly you might have a slight advantage in.” Philip rose a brow. “As you said, ‘I know nothing of our world now.’ It’s only wise to make sure I’m prepared for if you try something. And then you have that security as well. It works both ways,” he said smoothly. With the suave façade of a charismatic gentleman, he mockingly offered a hand. “Now….shall we go?”

Certainly Luz was accustomed to the weirdness of her life, but if anyone had told her she’d be in here attempting to make Philip Wittebane fucking happy she’d have thought them to be more delusional than she once thought the wannabe witch hunter was.

However, she and Philip had come quite a ways since their first chat, where she had actually allowed the former tyrant to talk and heard him out on why he’d become the way he was. Attempting to see him as more of an equal than an obstacle to be destroyed had given her new perspective. And…she didn’t necessarily like that he was completely alone like this when he wasn’t doing community service.

Absolutely in love with the design of titan form Luz so I drew her. I can’t believe it, watching and dreaming was so amazing, I cried through almost every part and I just want everyone to know that this series has helped me in so many ways.

I was the weird kid at school, I never fit in with any of the “regular” people and I had a hard time with that. But I found friends in high school just as weird and amazing as me and I wish this show had come out when I was still the weird kid in middle school so I could know I wasn’t alone. I’d like to add that queer representation is such a big part of the show and it is super ultra mega important for kids to see all kinds of representation, just like in this beautiful show. I love Lilith especially because I relate to to Lilith to her being aroace and not feeling romantic attraction to anyone. She’s just like me and doesn’t make me feel alone.

Anyways, thank you Dana, for creating such a masterpiece that deserves so much more love and appreciation. I hope future kids will find themselves watching this show just like I found myself.
