(this is an exploration of the golcha supernatural convenience store au I thought up like a year ago....... but never wrote. oops)

Title: Convenience Store Shenanigans

Pairing: Donghyun x gender neutral!reader

Word count: 680

“Y/N, for the last time, please get off the counter.”

“No one else is here,” you retort, earning a snort from Jibeom in the back. “And Jaehyun sits up here in his little cat form every other day, why can’t I do the same?”

“You’re not a cat shifter,” Donghyun argues, though he’s smiling. “You don’t look cute doing what you’re doing.”

You let out a dramatic gasp. “I, Y/N, your favorite significant other in the world, don’t look cute?”

“DUMP HIM, DUMP HIM, DUMP HIM -”

“Shut up!” Donghyun yells at the back. Jibeom and Joochan continue for several more seconds before devolving into stupid snickers that Donghyun refuses to pay attention to for fear of losing more brain cells than he can afford. You’re smiling at him anyway, which is a much more welcome sight than his two friends’ combined Cheshire Cat grins.

You shift your position on the counter to face Donghyun more completely. “Hey, if you really want me to get down, I will.”

“No, it’s fine.” He smiles. It’s nice to look up at you like this, to see a more than welcome face during his late night shifts at the convenience store. And you’re right, no one really comes at this hour, especially not on weekdays. “Don’t worry about it.”

“Well, I probably should anyway.” You hop off the counter and right into his lap before Donghyun can even prepare himself. His noise of complaint is cut off by your lips smacking against his cheek. Damn it, now his face is starting to feel hot. “You need to eat, don’t you? I don’t want to fall over and hit my head after you’ve finished.”

“Why do you always do the opposite of what I say?” he complains, even as he takes your wrist in his hand. “I tell you to get down, you decide to stay up. I tell you it’s fine to stay there, you immediately come down.”

“Because I know doing either is perfectly fine.” You stick out your tongue. “Now answer my question. Do you need to eat? Otherwise I came here for no reason.”

He pouts. “Is seeing my face not enough reason?”

“NO!”

“SHUT UP, JOOCHAN,” you yell before turning back to Donghyun. “Yes, it is,” you say sweetly, patting his head. “But it’s very late, and I’m not a vampire like you so I unfortunately actually need to sleep.”

Guilt pricks his chest. “Sorry.”

“Don’t apologize.” You hit his chest. “I don’t care that we run on different schedules. I just care that you eat as much as you need, and that I get to sleep on your shoulder after.”

“Yes, yes.” Donghyun takes the wrist you’ve outstretched, rolling up the sleeves of your shirt slightly. “I’ll eat. Close your eyes.”

You let your eyes fall shut, then let your head fall on his shoulder. Donghyun wastes no time in piercing through the skin of your wrist. He winces at your initial flinch, but then you settle into him more fully as he carefully takes his fill of blood from your veins.

When he’s finished, he kisses the puncture wounds in your wrist and licks the blood from his lips. “Done,” he whispers, patting your head.

“Mmh.” You blink your eyes open blearily. “Good?”

“Yeah.” Donghyun smiles, handing you a bottle of orange juice. “Drink up, then sleep, okay?”

You down most of the bottle without complaint, then rest your head back on Donghyun’s shoulder. “Don’t wake me up,” you mutter, closing your eyes.

He pats your head again. “What if I need to go and get something?”

“... Make Joochan or Jibeom do it.”

“I don’t remember agreeing to that!”

“Shut up,” the two of you snap in unison, your voice considerably more subdued than his.

Donghyun shifts your head to his lap, patting your head as you settle into his body. “Go to sleep,” he murmurs, not bothering to hide the little smile on his face. “I’ll fend off Jibeom and Joochan for you.”

“My hero.” You yawn, patting his leg. “Good night.”

“Good night, Y/N.”

❥ Donghyun as your gamer boyfriend

Hi! It's Luna again!

I was thinking about the scenario I did a few days ago, the Donghyun one (⬅️ click his name if you haven't seen it yet! ps. it's in spanish) and, somehow, something clicked in my head. I started having this "weird" thought about him, then my mind began to think about lots of things and, well, I had the need to write them.

(On a side note, I'll try to write this in english to practice it a little, I hope you don't mind and I really, really hope that everyting makes sense. If not, I'm sorry for whatever mistakes you see along the way!)

Let's begin!

So, my first thought implied Donghyun being really good at giving advice.

Like, as in the previous scenario, he would give you his honest opinion without hesitating.

I see him giving you advice even if you didn't ask for it.

This leads to another thing but, imagine him playing videogames, completely oblivious that you are watching him play, waiting for a chance to talk with him.

I see this going two different ways. There's this chance that he realizes and pauses the game.

He would listen to you carefully, waiting until you end for him to talk.

Like, hear me out, I really imagine him nodding at everything you say and looking at every single gesture you do if this helps him to understand better the way you are feeling.

He would ask for permission to give you his very honest opinion, trying to be respectful and thinking about lots of things at the same time, looking for the right words.

Then he would give you advice on the things he thought you would need it, surprising you as you see that he got even the tiniest details about the thing you told him about.

I think it's needless to say that they would actually work, helping you in whatever subject you applied them.

On the other hand, there's this thing at the bottom of my head that tells me he'd most likely be annoyed about having to pause the game if he was winning the round.

I mean this in the most respectful way, but he would get impacient and would cut you in the middle of a sentence, telling you something vague or sarcastic and getting back to the screen.

You would begin to talk again, getting him distracted, and that would make him lose. I see him playfully hitting your arm, not intending any harm but just to let you know that he didn't like losing the game.

I know for a fact that he would be silent the next few hours, trying to ignore you, waiting for you to ask him about playing together in order to beat you at the game.

If not, all you'd had to do is play with his hair or feed him while you're eating something.

I feel like he would stop being like a baby when you ask him about playing together.

Like, he would get overconfident about his gaming skills, telling you things like "I'm gonna kick your ass!" or "Get ready to lose."

He would be so confident about winning against you that he would totally make a bet in which you'd have to buy him fried chicken if you lose or whatever food he's craving for at the moment.

If he saw you poutting during the game he'd start to let you take advantage, but in the last moment he would put all his soul and energy in winning.

Why can I see Jangjun and Joochan laughing and teasing you at the back of the room??

He would try to hug you, saying something like "don't be sad, it's just a game." and after this you would try to get out of his arms.

He wouldn't even mind when he saw you running after the ENFP twins, I feel like he would even try to help you catching them to flick their foreheads.

And obviously you two would forget the bet until Joochan says that he's hungry.

Aaaand I think that's it for now??? I know this isn't as good as it sounded in my head before I started to write it, but I'm okay with it! I had fun writing this and I hope I can make more headcanon posts in the future!

donghyun's laughter is light in the air. he taps away at his keyboard, watching as you nearly die once more in your game. "you're really bad at this."

you are. you always have been, to be fair. the only reason you play is because donghyun loves it, and he likes teaching you the ropes... even if he does tease you constantly. your little pixel character trails after donghyun, clutching their staff all the while. normally you let him kick your ass in that racer game, but he chose this online game instead. it's easier for you to follow him and his friends and play healer (and sling spells from a safe distance).

"don't leave me!" you whine.

"i'm not," he giggles again, keys clicking as he messes with something. you don't even know what. "i'm just scouting--"

the lights shut off. his desktop shuts off and you get booted from your game, laptop screen illuminating your face as you stare at donghyun.

"shit, no--"

donghyun's unbothered for the most part, making his way over to the windows. "it's not just us," he says. "the lights are off in the building next door, too. must be an outage."

you pout. "but... what about your birthday?" you melt over the back of the couch, pouting at him. "you said this was all you wanted."

his phone chimes. "jibeom's asking where we went." he types back quickly. "we could go get food instead."

"we?" you push. did he mean it as a date, or...?

he smiles a little. "us. i'm going out with the others tomorrow night." he rounds the couch, extending a hand to you. "it's my birthday," he teases you lightly, "and you said we could go anywhere..."

"alright, alright," you wave him off, closing your laptop and setting it on the desk next to his own desktop setup. "i'll grab my wallet. it's my treat, okay?" you peck his lips. "happy birthday, you dork."
