Girl With The Tattoos|3

Broken.
♦️
Na'imah was only seven when she went to live with her mothers estrange sister, Hazel, after her parent's untimely death.
In the beginning, everything was fine. Hazel had taken Na'imah in, including her as a part of her family which consisted of her two daughters, Aubrey and Eva, and her police chief husband Nico.
During her grieving period, they all were there for her, comforting her, showing her the love that she had once felt when her parents were alive. Her cousins who she felt like were more like her older sisters always found a way to cheer her up, doing everything together. Something that Na'imah was looking forward to being herself until the day of the accident.
Not only did she lose her parents but also her little sister who was only three months away from being born.
And although Her Aunt Hazel and Uncle Nico weren't her mother and father, they temporarily filled the void inside her heart for a while.
It wasn't until she turned ten that things begin to change though.
The love that she once had felt around her new family started to fade. Na'imah being as intelligent as she is picked up on it immediately. Her cousins had become distant and rude, her aunt was less caring, leaving Na'imah to literally take care of herself. It was almost as if she had become invisible in a place she called home.
But it was her uncle who was by far the worst.
When Na'imah first moved in, she never questioned the loving hugs and kisses she would receive from her uncle because of how he presented himself. However, she did notice the older she got, he started to look at her differently. Especially after she hit puberty and her appearance and body begin to change. His touches would linger as well as his lips that seemed to move a little closer to her mouth than her cheek each time.
Na'imah's eleventh birthday was the day her life turned into the nightmare she had dealt with for over seven years.
She still remembered the day so vividly. How happy she was to be turning eleven. Her aunt who hadn't been the best had seemed to make a turnaround, promising her a day filled with shopping for new clothes and shoes, as well taking her out for manis and pedis and to end her day with going to her favorite restaurant to eat.
But it was all a lie.
Since she had gone to sleep late the night before, she had woken up pretty late, missing out on the birthday breakfast her aunt had promised her. Disappointed, she had gotten out of bed, only to realize that her aunt and cousins had left without her, leaving her alone with her uncle and men she remembered seeing a few times.
At first, Na'imah didn't think too much about it, still seeing no reason to fear them.
Of course, that quickly changed.
On a day that was supposed to be filled with laughter and happy memories were replaced with screams of fear and heartbreak.
She still recalled what her uncle had said when they corned her in his man cave that was located in the basement. How they were only allowed to touch her wherever they pleased but "Her virginity belonged to him."
He allowed them to do things to her that no one should ever do to someone so young. Forcing her to touch them in a manner that made her want to throw up.
And once they were finished, she was warned to keep her pretty little mouth closed because "who would believe her" he said.
Na'imah felt utterly disgusting, even after she cleaned herself. She wanted so badly to tell her aunt once she came home but quickly realized that she was set up with a simple look she received from the woman she thought loved her.
When she was thirteen, her uncle words had come true as he stole something so precious that she could never get back.
All while her aunt knew, as well as her daughters.
Every day she woke up in that house, she wished that she was dead. The pain she experienced always threatened to break her down but she never allowed it to, she couldn't.
When Na'imah left, she made sure to leave no trace behind, making sure they wouldn't know where she was going which was hard to do since her uncle had eyes everywhere.
Still, she managed to escape, breaking free from the consistent torment that her "family" gave her.
Sadly, her past still haunts her on a daily but it was always worse whenever she closed her eyes to sleep. No matter how hard she tried, she could never escape it.
Because of what happened, she never had a regular relationship with people. Trust being something she felt no one really deserved, always keeping the wall made of steel up around everyone she met....until JB.
She rarely let anyone get close to her and here she was allowing someone she could never have, slowly tear down something she had strongly built up for her protection. A man she felt like was too pure to deal with her fucked up thing called life.
She had convinced herself that she was too broken to be fixed but she quickly realized that JB was someone who never gives up.
"Na'imah!"
Jumping at the sudden sharp voice, Na'imah snapped back into reality, eyeing the man who stood smiling in front of her. "Yes?" Jinsung was always the quiet and reserved type, so this was the first time she had ever heard him raise his voice since she first met him. He was a sweet but stern older gentleman who happens to own the 7/11 she works at.
"I would ask what's on your mind but I doubt you would tell me," He said with a raised eyebrow, tucking the magazine he had under his arm. "There's someone waiting outside for you." He added, shifting his gaze towards the entrance which she followed.
Na'imah did a double take before leaning a bit over the counter to see if her eyes were playing tricks on her. "H-how do you know it's for me?"
"He asked," Jinsung stated simply, making his way around to the back of the counter to stand next to her. "I can handle things from here. Go and enjoy the rest of your day with your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend." She quickly rushed out.
Jinsung made a face, chuckling lowly. "I'm not sure other girls would deny an idol being called their boyfriend."
At hearing this, Na'imah stared at him with wide eyes. It wasn't as if one could tell who JB was, especially with his face being covered by had a hat and a mask. Maybe he looked a bit suspicious standing by a van, looking into the store but nothing screamed idol.
"H-he's no-"
"Sure he isn't," Jinsung said dismissively, cutting her denial short. "I'm thirty-six Na'imah, I know an idol when I see one."
With the slight roll of his eyes, he undid her apron an slightly pushed her to the side. "He's been standing there for a while, don't want to keep him waiting too long. Go."
Side-eyeing Jinsung, Na'imah grabbed her things and made her way towards the exit, her heart beating rapidly inside her chest with every step. She had hung out with JB a few times since that night in the studio, so she didn't understand why she still was so nervous around him.
Maybe it was because those times they have been together, it was usually late and no one was around. Now it was early in the morning when everyone was out and about, starting their day.
"And don't worry about coming in tonight, take the night off," Jinsung added just as Na'imah reached for the door handle.
Shooting him a look, she pushed the door open, taking a few steps to stand in front of JB in his all-black attire, his familiar scent hitting her senses. "What are you doing here?" She asked softly, still surprised that he was here in front of her.
She hadn't been able to see him for two weeks because of his scheduling, so for him to pop up so unexpectedly made her both happy and nervous.
Since his hat was so low, she couldn't see that he had been drinking in her appearance the moment she walked out. The way those white jeans hugged her thighs and hips, took his mind to a place it's traveled to often because of her. Sometimes he wondered if she knew how beautiful she was, both inside and out.
"JB?"
Lifting his gaze higher until his eyes landed on her smirking face, he reached for hands, pulling her in for a hug, ignoring the curious looks of people passing by. Her warmth engulfed him as he squeezed her, placing his lips against her neck much to her dismay. He was aware of how it affected her when he did it, earning that soft moan she always let out when he teased her.
"I missed you." He softly told her, allowing his lips to brush across her ear. What he really wanted to do was kiss her but he couldn't risk his face being exposed which he understood but still nonetheless hated.
"I missed you too." She said sincerely, still not believing that he was actually here.
"Come with me." He invited, pulling the door to the van back so she could get in. Seeing no point in asking questions, she slid in with him following behind her, closing the door behind him. "You don't have anything planned today do you?"
She gave him a knowing look. "You know I don't have much of a life outside of work."
If she wasn't working, then she was home, snuggled up on her couch, watching tv or movies. Occasionally she'd wander around the city to get more familiar with it but other than that, Na'imah was pretty much the definition of a homebody.
"You weren't joking when you said you didn't have many friends were you?"
Shaking her head, she shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "Not really. I still keep in contact with a few good people I've met during my military service but I'm not all that close to anyone like that. Never have been." She knew that it wasn't good to be as isolated as she was but she couldn't help it. Her past made her that way.
JB hummed lowly. "I think that's starting to change." He acknowledged, shedding light on how close they both have gotten since they exchanged numbers. Though she was still holding back things, JB still knew quite a bit about her. He found that she was easier to read than he thought, having the habit of wearing her emotions on her face for the world to see.
More than anything he wanted to know who or what hurt her for her to be so hesitant and distant. She had revealed that she has never been in a real relationship before but has dated around a few times. That made him curious as to why nothing serious ever came from them but didn't surprise him after he's gotten a feel of who she was.
"Maybe." She smiled at him softly, playing with the rings on his fingers. "Where are we going?"
"My place." He said, sitting back against his seat as the driver moved into traffic. "If you don't mind of course." He added once he took in her facial experience.
Clearing her throat, she shook her head. "No, it's fine. I wasn't doing anything today anyway." She had been alone with him before, so this shouldn't be any different.
"You sure?" He questioned, placing his hand on her thigh, feeling her shiver from his touch. It was interesting to him how she reacted whenever he touched her. He remembered a few weeks back the fear in her eyes when things got intensely heated between them, that made him quickly pull back. She reassured him that it wasn't him and that she simply wasn't ready which he understood but her reaction scared him and also arose many questions.
She enjoyed his touch, that much he knew but she had boundaries which he respected but he knew something terrible happened to her.
"Yes, as long as food is involved." She half-joked, hungry after her eight-hour shift. She'd eat a few snacks throughout her shift but what she wanted more than anything was real food.
JB laughed, linking their fingers together. "Already two steps ahead of you." He made a mental note to thank Jinyoung once again for suggesting a restaurant he's never heard of for food they both felt like she would enjoy.
It was the small things he did that made her feelings for him grow every day. Always leaving her gifts of her favorite things from food to flowers. She appreciated how he paid attention to everything she's revealed about herself, even the little detail about her favorite Digimon character, Patamon, in which he gave her a plush toy of, along with other characters.
"What?" He spoke up. Tilting his head to the side as he eyed Na'imah staring him at him with this soft look on her face.
"I...thank you." She muttered, not knowing what else to say after being caught.
"For what?"
Laying her head against his shoulder, she sighed deeply, enjoying his presence. "For being you."
A comfortable silence fell between them after that, with JB smiling and Na'imah drifting in and out of sleep until the car came to a stop. Refusing to let her walk in her sleepy state, he carried her to the front door of his dorm. Knowing that Jinyoung and Yugyeom were home, he chose to knock, hoping at least one of the members were awake to answer.
A few seconds later, a tired looking Yugyeom opened the door, rubbing his eyes. "Hyung, you have a key, wh-"
Realizing that JB wasn't alone, Yugyeom's sentence cut short after noticing the sleeping woman in his arms. "Yeojachingu?" He mouthed, not wanting to wake her as he stood to the side to let them in.
JB rolled his eyes, not bothering to answer the youngest members question. If he was being honest, he didn't know what they were and he wasn't going to put a title on it until he knows if her feelings are mutual.
He debated if he should wake her but thought against it since he didn't want to disturb her. Walking towards his room with Yugyeom close behind him, he placed her on his bed, removing her jacket as Yugyeom removed her boots. Once she was laid comfortably underneath his covers, JB had to practically drag Yugyeom out of his room, cracking the door behind him.
"She's pretty." Yugyeom grinned, ignoring the dark look JB was sending his way. "I always wondered where that sweet scent on your clothes comes from when you come home from the studio. Now I see where who it belongs to." The maknae stated, loving how irritated his hyung was looking at the moment.
"I would suggest you leave him alone unless you want to revisit the same headlock from a few nights ago," Jinyoung spoke up, stepping from the kitchen with a glass of water in hand.
Yugyeom pouted, sneaking a glance at JB who busied himself with the food on their kitchen table. "I'll have to order something else once she wakes up." He told them. "Let's eat."
He chewed on a piece of sausage while his members joined him, eating the Americanized breakfast that he gotten specifically for Na'imah, figured she would love to eat food from the US. He knew first hand what it was like to miss certain food when away from home.
"So, will we get to meet her once she gets up?" Jinyoung asked, slapping Yugyeom's hand from taking all of the bacon.
"If she doesn't mind." He was more than ready to introduce her to the people he loved. He knew that around them, he wouldn't have to hide the woman he wanted to call his own. And in time, hopefully, he could show off to the world one day.
Maybe he was thinking too far ahead but he didn't care. He was finding it hard to keep his feelings in check, even constantly telling himself that they were simply just friends, though he wanted to be more. This was more than just a simple crush.
"Have you at least spoken to JYP before you take things further?"
JB shook his head. He knew that he was allowed to date, however, he was afraid of the feedback he'd receive when he told management about her ethnicity. He didn't want to lose someone he considers to be so special to him.
Yugyeom and Jinyoung shared a look before staring at JB. "Your secret is safe with us."
"And we'll have your back no matter what." Yugyeom nodded.
A small smile pulled at JB's lips at their comforting words but he knew that soon, especially if something more blooms between him and Na'imah, that he will have to let his company know the truth.
And if things don't go as he hopes, he will refuse to let her go no matter of their wishes.

i am both young and old proud of the wisdom and stupidity that carry themselves within me i learn from both equally  and although i am made up of fantasy and day dreams living exceedingly rooted in security  or reality as you know it all of my perspectives are almost cotton candy dissolving on the tongue of ambition soaked in the murky water of the future  i dropped it in, confusing it for a lush bath bomb come and go, it don’t mean a thing that is my pain talking you’re free with me, if anything is certain i don’t control  i’m playing with everyone, everyone’s playing with me take the game seriously, i hurt no one unless i have to hurt me if you need to, i can turn negative into positive  by understanding they’re both the same thing giving you a sense of the universe in a physical form sing me the chorus of i wanna see you again its hard to not feel powerful with all this power let it go as if it were an attachment  i am working towards bettering the person i would be if were kidnapped, tortured and isolated for a year nothing matters anyway, i’m more or less in another dimension  worked to stopped judging myself so i could stop judging you you reflect me but still i change my mind couple times a second i make sure my whole world stays consistent and constant nothing changes outside of me regardless of the turbulance i understand duality, i understand separation  i could not want you but i want you to understand i am not the feelings dwelling within me i will not tell you to leave always thinking i have enough time to do everything one day i’ll change, be a little more realistic  for now the few times i make it keep me hoping i manage to manifest all of my desires however contradictory can’t doesn’t exist thank you universe

Vibes.
♦️
The nightlife of Seoul was always so vibrant and beautiful.
Na'imah was fortunate enough to have an apartment that allowed her such views as she laid in bed just like tonight.
It was only 10:30 P.M. but she knew that sleep wasn't coming any time soon. It was one of the reasons why she chose to work nights instead of the morning shifts.
Sometimes she'd purposely avoid sleeping because of the dreams they brought. They were almost rarely pleasant.
Plus if she was being honest, she was tired of going to bed alone anyway. For so long she has been purposely dismissing the idea of a relationship. A few times she has come close to being in one but of course, she would always distance herself when she thought someone was getting too close. It was unfortunate because she has come across a few good men that she knew had the potential of making her happy.
Sometimes she hated the way her mind worked.
And the one time she finds herself genuinely interested in someone, he comes in the form of an idol who she knew that realistically she couldn't have. Fuck her luck.
She had been talking to JB for about a month now and so far she enjoyed their conversations so much.
He was easy to talk to and a good listener. Although she hasn't revealed much of her past for a reason, she has started to let down her walls brick by brick. For the first time, she was beginning to let someone in.
She loved how he sensed certain things. Like a few nights ago the topic of family was brought up again and when he asked about certain family members, she would become distant which he caught immediately and changed the topic to something else. He never pressured her about anything.
And she never let the fact that he was famous get to her head. However, sometimes she would have to remind herself of who he was because the more they interacted, the more she was beginning to feel something towards him.
She had a vibe with him that she never had with anyone else.
"Fuck." She mumbled, turning her face into her pillow. Why was she thinking about him so much?
Maybe this was just a simple crush? Something that would past with time? But would it be so wrong to allow herself a bit of happiness for once? Even if it was only temporary? She didn't know herself honestly. This whole situation was a tricky one and had multiple outcomes both good and bad.
The sound of her phone vibrating beside her pulled her from her thoughts and back to reality. Glancing down at the lit up screen, JB's name showed across the screen as the incoming caller.
"Hey." She whispered into the receiver once she answered, turning to her side to face the windows.
"I didn't wake you did I?" His voice was so melodic and sweet like honey. She could listen to him speak about something as bland as precipitation and still be intrigued as he talked.
"No. You know I don't really sleep much at night."
"Mm, we'll have to change that." He replied, thinking of numerous ways he could put her to sleep, both sexual and non-sexual. He wanted to feel bad for thinking about her in such a manner but he was a man and he would be lying to himself if he said he hadn't thought about it more than once. He was attracted to her both physically and mentally, so it was only natural.
Na'imah smirked at his words, feeling a double meaning to them but decided not to speak on it. "What are you up to this late?"
"That's why I was calling. I wanted to know if you would mind coming to see me? I know it's last minute but I could really use your company." The rest of the members had headed home but JB still had a few more tracks to lay before he would decide to call it a night. His music wheels have been turning all day and now that he was alone, the only person he could think about was her.
"Where are you?" She asked, hearing soft music playing in the background of where he was.
"The studio."
Of course, she thought to herself. She was almost convinced he lived there when he wasn't busy.
Sitting up, she removed the covers and prepared to get dressed. "And where would this studio be located?" She hadn't seen him in four days because of his scheduling, so there was no way she was passing up seeing him, especially if it was longer than a few minutes like it usually was.
"The new JYP building in Cheongdam. I'll text you the address." He tried to hide the excitement in his voice but failed miserably. This was his chance to talk to her like he wanted and touch her in ways he's never been able to.
"Are you sure that's ok? I mean, I know that they just don't let anyone inside of those buildings." The last thing she wanted to be is thrown out for "trespassing". Plus she knew that her black ass would for sure stick out like a sore thumb.
JB laughed a bit, finding her concern to be cute. "Yes. I'm personally inviting you." He said, leaning back against his chair. "Just call me when you arrive, so I can let you in." The building was almost deserted around this time with a few employees and a security guard keeping watch.
Though she was still nervous, she decided to still go anyway. It was better than laying in her bed until she felt sleepy. "Alright. Let me get dressed and I'll head that way."
Saying their goodbyes, Na'imah quickly pulled on some clothes, not thinking much of her outfit. As long as she was decent, that's all that mattered. However, she did at least pull her hair into a sleek ponytail. She debated whether to apply makeup but thought against it at the last minute, sticking to simple lip gloss instead. Once she was pleased with her final look, she grabbed her crossbody bag and headed out, locking up behind her.
The JYP building was only about 30 minutes away, so she chose to take the subway since the station was closer to her apartment complex. The whole ride made her nervous the closer she got to her destination. Here she was making a late night trip to see an idol, something she didn't even think could ever occur. Only weeks ago her life had been pretty routine, with not much excitement and in little time, she found herself in this very predicament.
As soon as the building came into view, she almost convinced herself to turn back around and go home. What the hell was she thinking?
"Relax, you can do this." She pep talked to herself after taking a deep breath.
Retrieving her phone, she dialed JB's number and waited patiently until he answered as she eyed the building in front of her. She recalled walking past it a few times, just never paying attention to the name of it. Although the kpop scene was obviously huge there, she rarely ever dove that deeply into it. Knowing a few groups, here and there. She had almost hyped herself up to go to at least one of the shows to experience the hype but never got around to doing so.
"I see you. Come here." He told her as soon as he answered. Na'imah looked confused for a second until her eyes landed on him. A smile broke out into her face when she approached him while he held one of the glass doors open for her to come in.
She barely got a good look at the place when he decided to pull her towards him, hugging her tightly. After her shock had worn off, she wrapped her arms around him, doing the same in return.
The way she molded into him was almost insane. Her sweet scent filled his nose when he nuzzled his head into her neck, pulling her closer. He had been wanting to this since the moment he had laid eyes on her. It was something so simple but meant so much more to him.
"Jae..." She groaned softly when his lips unintentionally brushed against her skin. Immediately she pulled back allowing her eyes to fully take him in up so close and personal.
"I'm sorry." He apologized, licking his lips before he allowed some space between them.
She shook her head, waving him off. "It's fine." And it was but she couldn't say the same for her body though.
"Follow me." He said, nodding his head towards the hall behind him. She silently walked behind as he walked up a flight of stairs, soon stopping in front of some double doors. Her eyes danced around the impressively sized studio, admiring all of the professional equipment in front of her. She could only imagine the type of music great music that was being recorded here.
"I work in this one until my studio gets finished." He revealed, pulling her to one of the chairs in front of the mixing console. She wondered how they even knew which ones to touch with there being so many to choose from. She was hesitant to touch anything, afraid that she might mess up something.
"Your second home huh?" She half-joked after spotting the pillow and blanket on one of the couches behind them, where she imagined he's probably slept on a few times.
JB smiled a little, not denying her words because he knew they were true. They had released their album weeks ago, yet here he was already working on new music. When he gets inspired, sometimes he can't help but express himself through songwriting. He wasn't even going to reveal that one of the songs that he's been working on was about her. Some things are better kept to himself...for now.
"I've listened to the songs you have on your SoundCloud a few days ago, it definitely seems very Im Jaebum like." She smiled, pulling out a blowpop from her candy stash inside of her bag and quickly placed it into her mouth, paying no attention to JB who was watching her every move.
"Really? Is there a song you favorite the most?" He asked, clearing his suddenly dry throat. Why out of all the candy she could have pulled out, she chose that one? His gaze was set on the way her lips wrapped around the blowpop, lightly sucking it with no care in the world. Shaking his head a bit, he realized how silly his mindset was being, letting his hormones get in the way. It was only candy.
"Holic." She answered once she pulled the candy from her mouth. "We have very similar taste in music." She added, remembering back when he told her about his love for soul music which ironically enough was her favorite genre.
JB found it very interesting that she said that song in particular because as crazy as it may seem, it held so much truth to how he was feeling right now. However, he also found it strange how songs he had written over a year ago explained so much now that he has met Na'imah.
But even he knew that no matter how much he liked her, he would have to be careful for both of their sakes.
"May I?" She asked after a while, pointing at the Mac computer in front of them.
"Go ahead."
Placing the sucker back into her mouth, she rolled her chair closer to his and pulled up SoundCloud, logging into her account. "I think it's only fair that I bless you with some good music." She smirked, glancing at him before focusing back on the screen. Plus she needed a distraction. The way he's been looking at her since they sat down was making her feel a certain way.
This has been the longest that she's ever been in his presence and she wasn't sure how to act around him just yet. What she really wanted though, was to hug him just to feel him close again. To take in his manly scent and his warmness on this cool night. She knew that he had no clue how good he truly felt. It's been so long since she had someone, especially a man who embraced her the way that he did.
Finding her playlist, she hit shuffle and let the music play, allowing it to ease her nerves.
"I don't make you nervous do I?" JB suddenly asked, seeing her truly relax for the first time. He found himself observing like he always does. It was his way of trying to figure her out whenever she didn't speak. He wanted to know what she was thinking and how she felt by simply looking at her or hearing a change in her voice.
She was still keeping him at a comfortable distance which he understood completely and he was more than willing to be patient until she was ready to let him in. Still, he was curious about her story. He wanted to know why she didn't want to go into detail about her childhood and upbring. It was clear someone had hurt her enough to where she was protecting herself like she was.
And he wanted to change that.
"Honestly? A little bit. It's just...it's been awhile since I've been alone with someone like this." The last time she was alone with a man she ended up in his bed in what was the most mediocre sex she had ever experienced in her life.
Now here she was with a man she not only found so physically attractive but one who had made her lower region throb from his lips brushing against her neck. It was ridiculous.
She almost jumped out of her skin when she felt his hand touch hers as he intertwined their fingers. "Don't be. What happens between us will always be up to you." Being a man of his word, he meant exactly what he said.
Na'imah could feel her cheeks begin to warm up as her gaze shifted from their hands to his eyes. Why must he look at her like that so much? As if she was the most precious gem he had ever seen. Whenever he does it, he makes it so hard for her to keep up her barriers.
"Can I at least have a taste?"
Blinking her eyes a few times, she gave him a surprised look. "W-what?"
Chuckling, JB started to pull at the blowpop, indicating what he meant. "You've been sucking on it like it's the best candy in the world and I want to see for myself if it is."
Pulling it out of her mouth, she scrunched up her face in fake disgust. "I don't know where your mouth has been."
Hitting her with the "Oh Really" look, JB snatched the candy from her hand and quickly put it in his mouth. His taste buds were hit immediately with the flavor of strawberry. All Na'imah could do was pout, that was her last blowpop too.
"You're lucky I like you or otherwise we would've been fighting." She joked right as he bit into the hard coating. "JB!" She squealed not thinking that he was going to eat the whole thing. She only thought he wanted a simple taste, not for his greedy ass to devour it for himself.
JB watched her unfazed and continued to chew the overly sweet bubblegum that was hidden in the middle, tossing the white stick into the trashcan behind him.
She couldn't stop the mean mug from appearing on her face which he found to be pretty cute. "Here." He offered, wrapping the gum around his finger and pointed it at her lips.
"Just eat the damn gum." She snapped, softly pushing his hand away from her.
Shrugging, he did what she said until the flavor started to disappear. "I'll make it up to you." He told her as he stood up, throwing the gum into the garbage before taking his seat again.
"Oh, you most def-" Barely able to finish her sentence, JB grabbed the arms of her chair, sliding it to face him. With her legs between his, she watched him lean closer, invading her personal space as her heart thumped rapidly inside of her chest.
A small smile pulled at his lips, seeing her go stiff while his gaze slowly moved from her eyes to her lips that she subconsciously bit into. "I always keep my word." He assured her, placing his hands on her thighs.
Na'imah didn't know what to do. She didn't want to give him this vibe like she didn't like what he was doing but she also couldn't force her body to respond like she was screaming for it too. Even when he had the nerve to purposely slide a hand to softly grip at the back of her neck pulling her closer, she still didn't dare move.
"Let me-"
"Yes." She said a little too quickly but she didn't care, she was more than ready for this.
Needing nothing else, JB connected his lips to hers, taking the lead of a kiss that was filled with so much unexpected passion and need the more their mouths moved in complete sync. He teased at her bottom lip, biting and sucking the plump flesh until she opened wide enough for him to slip his tongue inside without missing a beat.
Na'imah could still taste strawberries as he flicked his tongue against hers, tasting her in ways she never allowed anyone else.
It wasn't supposed to feel like this so soon. He wasn't supposed to be able to ignite this fire inside of her just yet. And he wasn't supposed to taste this damn good either.

Feel.
♦️
Her past was a dark one.
Filled with loneliness, fear, abuse that was both physical and mental and rarely any happiness.
Love wasn't a word that she grew up knowing the true meaning of, much less knowing what it was like to be wanted.
Everything that she has ever had was always earned and never given. She wasn't blessed with a memorable childhood, in fact, it was something that she tried so hard to forget. And her teenage years....was the very reason for her sleepless nights.
It was unfair but as she grew older, she quickly realized that life never played fair or chose favorites.
Still, Na'imah never let her past define her nor change her pure ways. They may have tainted her body and shook up her mind but she never allowed them to break her spirit.
As soon as she turned eighteen, she joined the military considering that college was out of the question. Once she graduated, she packed up what she needed, disappearing, not looking back since. It wasn't ideal but she was desperate to get as far away from them as possible and at the time, it was her only way out.
Six years have passed since she began her journey in living her own life on her own terms. No one knew her story and she never really allowed anyone to get to close because if she did, she felt as though she'd be opening up old wounds that she's been trying so hard to forget. Although she had people she'd consider friends, she never had anything close to a best friend.
Maybe it was better that way.
With her last year in the Navy ending in South Korea, she decided to call the city of Seoul home for a while. She had zero reasons to return back to the states, there was literally nothing waiting for her there anyway.
At first, Na'imah was nervous about living in a place that was so different from what she normally used to. She picked up on the language with ease and was quick to get used to the culture, however, she couldn't front like she didn't miss certain things from back home in North Carolina.
Her eyes were glued to her the last chapter of her book when she heard someone walk in.
Shifting her gaze to the clock beside her, she knew exactly who it was judging by the time.
For the past two weeks she's been working at 7/11, he has shown up most nights she worked, around the same time to buy the exact same items.
It wasn't something she found to be out of the ordinary, considering she used to do the same which is how she managed to even land this job, to begin with.
However, Na'imah could feel it when he watched her as he picked out his items. The way he would look at her when he approached the counter to pay. Even when he would purposely brush his hand against hers.
She noticed it all.
He was flirting without ever speaking a word to her which she thought was kind of odd but everyone was different and she wasn't one to judge.
His face was familiar to her though. It was as if she has seen him somewhere else but couldn't put her finger on where and that bothered her.
However, she did find his features to be beyond attractive to her, with the beauty marks above his eyelid being her favorite.
Closing her book, she pushed it to the side as he approached the counter. Occasionally she'd dabble in small talk with a few customers to be friendly and tonight she decided to attempt to do something she almost never does, be the first to spark up a conversation.
"You always watch me but never speak, why?" She questioned curiously, watching his eyes widen by her suddenly speaking to him. A small smile pulled at her lips while he placed his items in front of her. His dark hair fell slightly over his eyes as he stared down at her, making her heart beat a little faster.
She watched the way his tongue glided over his bottom lip before he tucked it into his mouth for a second. 'It's because of the way you make me feel.' He wanted to say but he knew how weird it would sound if he were to say it out loud. "Sometimes it's hard to say the right things in front of someone so beautiful." He said instead.
Na'imah looked away, feeling her cheeks become warm as she replayed his words over in her mind. She's been called beautiful a quite a few times before but for some reason, it was the way he said it that made her feel something different. And the way he was looking at her....she couldn't really explain it.
"Ask me how my night is." She suggested softly, ringing up his items.
"How has your night been so far?" He asked smoothly.
Na'imah smiled to herself, liking how he didn't hesitate to do what she said. "It's better now." She told him truthfully. Her nights were usually slow and sometimes boring which is why she was always reading. It made her eight-hour shifts pass by quicker.
"And how is it better?" She looked at him, knowing that he already knew the answer to his own question without the need for her to explain.
"You."
He had no idea how much she enjoyed their brief encounters. He was the one thing she looked forward to nightly, being slightly disappointed when he didn't show up twice.
JB found himself grinning, wishing he would've talked to her sooner. But it wasn't every day he felt such a pull towards someone before. He was intrigued by her. That much has been proven with her constantly popping up in his mind throughout his day. Often wondering what she was doing, wishing there was a way to ask her himself.
It wasn't as if he's never been smitten with a woman before but he knew that with her, it was so much more different than the rest.
Plus with his status and who he was, he didn't exactly have the luxury of getting to know just anyone he wanted.
His eyes looked at the nametag that was attached to her red and black apron. "Na'imah?" He said slowly, not wanting to butcher her name too much.
"Yes."
"Call me JB." He told her, holding out his hand to formally introduce himself. Her small, warm hand slid into his as his long but soft fingers wrapped her hand, giving her a firm handshake. It was simple contact, yet she wasn't ready to let go and neither was he.
But sadly, he couldn't stay long.
Reluctantly pulling away, he swiped his card, paying for his things. "Tomorrow?"
Her eyebrows furrowed. "Tomorrow?"
He chuckled lowly at her confused expression. "Will you be working again tomorrow?"
Oh. "No. I only work on the weekdays." She told him, realizing that he was about to leave.
JB frowned a bit, quickly thinking of a way he could see her sooner, knowing his options were limited. He wanted to talk to her more but he felt as though asking her for her number was too soon. She was making him do things outside of his usual character. He didn't know her but he was willing to give her personal information just to stay in contact with her.
But to him, she was worth it.
"Use it." Her sweet voice pierced his thoughts as he realized he was standing there silently having a debate with himself. He looked down at the pink piece of sticky note she held out with her number scribbled across it. "Have a goodnight JB." She smiled as he eyed the paper after taking it from her. His eyes found her once more as he took a step backward towards the double doors.
"Goodnight Na'imah." He nodded, forcing his legs to move to make his exit. His heart hadn't stop racing even when he made it back to the dorms. In a matter of minutes, his night was made by an exchange of few sentences that led to him having a way to get in touch with her whenever he could. He wanted so badly to just call her as he saved her number in his phone but quickly thought against considering she was still at work.
Even as he laid in bed, his mind never strayed far from her, wishing he could hear her voice one last time.
Only a few minutes later after closing his eyes, he grabbed his phone and dialed her number, no longer caring that she was busy at work. He needed to hear her again before he fell asleep. Three rings later her low chuckles filled with his ears followed by her gentle tone. She knew exactly who it was without looking at the caller ID.
"JB...." She sighed softly. "Get some rest."

Prologue.
❤︎
____
The first time he had laid eyes on her, something within him had sparked.
She sat quietly behind the counter reading a hardcover of "American Street", her head slightly lifting up once hearing the ding of the door indicating a new customer.
He found himself in a bit of a trance of the curly mane that framed her gorgeous face. A soft and warm smile graced her face for a few seconds when their eyes connected before she returned her attention back on the book in front of her.
Absentmindedly walking down an aisle, he had temporarily forgotten why he was even there to began with.
His gaze kept going back to her while picking up random things that he really didn't need. Of the many times he's come to this same exact store he was sure that he has never seen her here before tonight.
Her smooth copper-colored skin made her stand out amongst the usual pale bodies of South Korea alone. The slight glint coming from the crystal nose ring she sported fitted her foreign features so perfectly.
But it was the tattoos she had that really piqued his interest.
The realistic roses that started from her collarbone and covered her upper shoulder were so unique to him. It wasn't until he grabbed what he actually came for and walked towards the counter he spotted the beautiful design mandala tattoo on her forearm. Her choices on ink to decorate her skin made him so curious of exactly she was.
"Will that be all for you tonight?" With a tone sweet like honey and so gentle, she spoke his native language so smoothly. His darkened eyes found hers staring back at him kindly and for a moment, he was speechless.
She was almost too perfect to him.
He blinked a few times not trusting his voice and simply nodded, giving her the ok to ring up his items that consisted of mostly junk food. A strange feeling he wasn't quite use to, started to erupt from inside of him that he had to close his eyes for a few seconds and take a deep breath. It wasn't pain or sickness that he felt, no, this was something else.
Fuck.
Opening his eyes once more, he found her looking at him curiously with a slight tilt of her head and a playful smirk on her face. Glancing at his total, he handed her more than necessary. "Keep the change." He said lowly, watching her place the money into the cash register.
A simple "thanks" passed through those slightly glossed lips that caused him to bite his own subconsciously.
Shaking his head, he ran a hand through his freshly washed hair trying to understand what was happening to him. But deep down, he knew exactly what this feeling was.
He purposely brushed his hand against hers when she handed him his bagged items, an action that seemed as if she didn't either catch or think much of. The different contrast of their skin tones was so evident but he liked it. And her lovely intoxicating scent wasn't making his situation any better.
Giving her one last look over his shoulder as he walked towards the door, she gave him a small wave and casually went right back to her reading.
Smiling to himself, he made his exit with every intent on this not being the last time to see her if he had the chance.
He needed to know everything about her.
The girl with the tattoos.
