I like thinking about Otae deciding to tell the news about the revival of their dojo and Obi Hajime’s return not only to Shinpachi but to Gintoki and Kagura as well. Like we have seen Otae and Shinpachi sharing news between them alone together, but that time they decided to include Gintoki and Kagura.
I like thinking about how in the choice of potential future instructors, Gintoki was Number One on Otae and Hajime’s list. Like the Shimuras trusted and valued him enough for their dojo. He was the only one selected out of all the people they knew.
Kondou and Kyuubei invited themselves over later (out of jealousy at first but then sincerely later).
But still at the ending of Beam Saber, the Shimuras still went on their vacation with the confidence of Gintoki and Kagura and the promise that both of them will look after and prepare the dojo for the revival of classes.
And later in the Shimura Secret Technique arc, Gintoki (and Kagura) were still the ones who were able to hold classes that stayed true to Otae’s vision when Shinpachi and Kyuubei’s methods had been ineffective. Gintoki was also the one who was able to completely interpret Shimura Ken’s instructions for Shinpachi.
Gintoki and Kagura (Yorozuya) are already intricately woven in the fabric of the Kodoukan dojo and the Shimura family and I love that.
I love that for them.

Sacchan is always insinuating that Tae has something for Gintoki or that she is always planning to do something for please him, but she never does it with Tskki which the audience clearly knows she likes him, it's funny 😆

So remember this infamous scene?
We all know that Hijikata had assumed Gintoki and Tae were close, but then that was proven wrong by Tae’s reaction.
He also knows that Kondo is in love with Tae.
…So why did he try to get with Tae in Gintoki’s body?
Here’s my opinion: Hjikata thinks that Gintoki and Tae’s relationship is heading in that direction. Getting Gintoki together with Tae was just his way of ‘speeding up’ the process (and while attaining the goal of dozaemon in the process) …. or he ships them too.
Hijikata also says it’s the ‘easiest’ way to split dozaemon and Tae up. (How would it be easy? He assumed Gintoki would win.*wink wink*)

Shimura Otae and her smile
I believe some viewers felt Otae enjoyed hurting people because her smiling followed suit of her aggressive tendencies; her brutality added at the beginning of the shows adaptation seemed especially heinous to most. Everyone throws punches left and right but her upside down frown is what leaves people with the wrong impression.
Tumblr media
I believe international viewers are left out of the culture context about her outward appearance. I mean she looks like an everyday woman of Edo, just with a bit of a temper. I felt it was just her gimmick at first; the innocent look that does a complete one-eighty, yet that isn’t the full case.
Tumblr media
I got done watching a reaction video (I know I’m one of those people lol). This person, who after watching the Yagyuu Arc, gave thoughts on the episode. Discussing Otae’s true genuine smile of jubilation and joy, and not the smile she always wore. The put up front reminded them of studying in Japan.
Tumblr media
The person mentioned they actually studied abroad numerous times throughout videos. The wrap up of the arc immediately brought thought of a book their Japanese professor had given the class. They still have the book in both English and Japanese as a keepsake.
Tumblr media
The Japanese professor was very particular, to all studying in the class, to understand the concept of the Japanese smile. How and what they were presenting in Japan could be the complete opposite of what was going on internally. That it was quite normal for someone to have a smile on their face but inside they’re in incredible pain and sorrow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Book covers for Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto
The professor brought that up when the class were reading the book Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto. It was about someone that was always smiling externally but inside there was so much trauma.
Tumblr media
They watched the film version and the film portrayed the book quite well. In the story though, you can read the internal monologue of the main character but in the movie you don’t have access to that. So you just see the main character from the outside. And if you just watch it, without any context of Japanese culture, without the context of the book with the internal monologue, you would think; and it would leave you with a completely different impression of the main character. You wouldn’t even realize just how much pain she was in.
Tumblr media
☝️ This here is how I think viewers see Otae. They can’t discern what they see and perceive her character as just being high-handed. This is how one would surmise her personality without truly knowing the person inside. And I suppose people believe this is her true nature. Which, I won’t lie, at times could be true . . . .
Tumblr media
However there is also other obvious facets that people tend to overlook time after time. She was raised for a short time and by few people who taught her to smile through the tough times in life. And that concept has been embedded in her, throughout the series. It’s given her wisdom and strength at such a young age. It’s this reason that I fell for this character. She has more strength than mere brawn. This way of masking pain goes outside the boundaries of Japanese culture, nonetheless it’s something upheld as a society. It’s taught and becomes an automatic way of operating through daily life. She’s the product of that time and it’s day-to-day people. I hope this can cut her some slack from viewers who think nothing but physical power of her.
Tumblr media
BTW for anyone interested the book is amazing. It’s a tiny read but a ton you can acquire from reading it! I highly recommend. Plus, you may find other similar characteristic’s that may have been inspiration for a persona in the Gintama series. It adds to how Sorachi takes and intertwines historical figures with important fictional works to create key roles for his own series. 😮

You were relaxing in your home, your feet tucked under your legs as you drank a warm cup of tea, you were deep in thought as you stared on into the distance from within your cozy hut. A fire was going on in the pit with a small cauldron hovering above it, it had about an inch of water within it, the water inside coming to a nice boil. You sighed as you swallowed some of your tea.
The sunset was ever so beautiful as you lost yourself in a trance. You blinked, breaking your trance and you looked over at the cauldron, seeing the water boiling nicely. You hummed, pleased to see the water rolling and bubbling.
You placed your tea down on the circular wooden saucer gently, you then turned to your left and you picked up the saibashi chopsticks, you adjusted them properly in your hand before you picked up an undone dumpling, you gently placed it in the hot water, you had about 4 of them, ready to boil. Once they were all in you placed the lid over the cauldron, allowing them to steam and boil.
Your ears twitched and you looked out into the distance once more, you stared intensely as you could hear a group of footsteps and voices. They all sounded rather young, and they sounded relaxed yet tired. You stood up, dusting off your clothes as you made yourself presentable, but in the middle of your fixing, your eyes wide and your ears perked up, a very familiar yet not forgotten voice sounded out from the crowd that was approaching your home.
You looked out into the distance, your eyes gleaming in hope as you waited for the figures to curve up from the hill. You waited with clenched hands over your fast heart, as the group walked up the hill, you could make out a large animal, and two figures walking next to it along with a small child-like figure.
Your eyes widen and they shined with unshed tears as you made out the familiar red clothing and silver hair. You ran out from the hut, your eyes trained on the young man as you ran towards the group. The small child noticed you approaching and he alerted the others.
They all looked at you with curious stares, and your arms opened wide once you got closer. “INUYASHA!!” You cried out in joy as you wrapped your arms around his chest, your arms went under his and your fingers latched onto his red suikan. Your face pressed into his chest and shoulder, and your tears stained his top, but he didn’t seem to care as he wrapped his arms around you tightly in return.
You could feel how much he had grown, it felt almost like a dream how strong he felt, he was nothing but a young teen the last time you hugged him like this, he wanted to go out and venture off on his own, and you gave him a hug as a final goodbye, telling him that he can always come home for a hot meal and a warm and ready bed.
“Oh, Inuyasha, I missed you so much, there wasn’t a day that went by that I never thought about you. I’ve been so worried, but I know that you’re strong.” You said, your voice wavering as you tried not to sob. He held you tighter. “I know, but you ain’t got to worry…. I’m sorry…. I should’ve checked in on you.” He said, his voice was still the same, just with a bit more base and a natural growl to it. It almost made you want to cry, realizing how much of his life has gone by.
You shook your head, as you pulled back from him, your eyes shined full of motherly love as you stared up at him. “You’ve no need for an apology, you were trying to find your place in the world, so I understand why you left.” You said, your voice full of understanding. His yellow eyes bounced back and forth between yours, he may be grown, but he still held that same love and respect for you. It took you back to his younger days when he was just a child, his eyes haven’t changed. He was still your baby boy.
You blinked and you stared up at them with a baffling look, he blinked in confusion at your stare. “W-what?” He asked as he stared down at you. You stepped up on your tip-toes, your hands gently caressing his cheeks. He stared down at you with a dazed look, but he didn’t stop you. You suddenly pinched his cheeks and you pulled on them. “OW! OWW! STOP THAT! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?” He shouted in pain as he gently yet firmly grabbed your wrists as he tried to pry your hands off. You pulled his cheeks apart in different directions before you let them go and you gave both of his cheeks a good smack.
He stepped back some as he rubbed his cheek with one of his hands as he gave you a half-hearted glare. “What the heck was that for?” He asked, his voice held irritation. You gave a pleased smile before you placed your hands on your hips before you nodded in satisfaction. “Mmhmm, there we go!! I missed those rosy cheeks of yours!!” You said, he blinked in confusion. “Rosy?” He asked.
You nodded. The small child you had seen before questioned aloud. “Inuyasha had rosy cheeks?” He asked, his little voice made your heart clench from how cute he sounded, you looked over at him, he was sitting in the young girl's arms, and he was nested in her arms as she cradled him. His bright green eyes made you nearly squeal at how cute he was. His big blue bow in his ginger hair was just too cute. His sharp ears and little fangs indicated that he was a demon child, but you already knew that from his scent. You smiled at him, nodding at his question.
“That’s right when he was younger, he had the cutest rosy cheeks!! They were always either pink or shy of red, I just couldn’t bare to see him without them any longer!!” You explained as you gushed at the memory. He growled from behind you as you retold the memories of his cheeks that he himself must’ve forgotten. The small boy stared up at you before he gave a smug smirk over at Inuyasha. “I never knew that Inuyasha had girly cheeks.” He said in a teasing voice.
Inuyasha glared over at him. “WHAT YOU SAY!?” He shouted as he stomped but made no advance towards him. The girl holding him stared at Inuyasha with an observatory stare. “You know, it is kind of cute.” She said, he stepped back at her comment. “W-WHAT!?” He called out, the woman on the large feline also gave him the same stare. “I agree with, Kagome, it surprisingly fits you.” She said, Inuyasha stared at her with a look of disbelief. The Monk behind her nodded his head in agreement. “It suits your human qualities.” He said.
Inuyasha grumbled as he turned away from the group, he pulled his sleeve down over his hand as he scrubbed at his cheeks, trying to get rid of the redness, unknowingly making it redder. You chuckled at his actions, as you rubbed his back soothingly. You continued rubbing his back as you looked back over at the group, finally taking them in. They all stared at your action with a questioning stare.
You eyed their clothing, they all seemed normal, aside from the girl holding the boy. She wore a small green cloth, and long white socks with large leather covering over her feet. She wore a long white sleeve piece of fitted clothing with a green pattern on it, and a red cloth tied around her neck.
Your nose twitched as you blinked. “You’re not from around here, are you?” You asked aloud, they all looked over at you, and the girl blinked before she gave you a slightly nervous smile. “Umm, yeah, you’re not wrong.” She said. You smiled at her, you could tell that she was young, your motherly instinct blooming to life. “No need to be nervous dear, I don’t bite.”
You gently said as you tried to calm her, it seemed to work, the warmth in your eyes matched your smile and she seemed to relax. You chuckled, your eyes closing as you looked back at Inuyasha who still had his back toward everyone. “Inuyasha, won’t you invite your friends inside? I was just about to make some steamed dumplings.” You suggested. His ears slightly twitched and he stood up straighter.
You gave a sly smile his way. “I was also about to make some sashimi, with some steamed dumplings and rice.” You said as you turned towards the hut. He turned towards you, his eyes slightly widen. “Sashimi?” He asked, you held in your giggle at his cuteness that he never seemed to lose. “Sashimi.” You confirmed. He stood there a little longer before he looked at his small group. “Well, you guys heard her, get inside.” He said. You shook your head at his rudeness, but he’s always been this way.
You walked on towards the hut, as you listened to the lot of them bicker amongst themselves…
The sun has fully vanished, and with her, she took her bright light, and in her stead, the moon and all her followers appeared. The straw curtain to your hut was drawn, closing the doorway to the hut, shielding your privacy from the world. The rice was being cooked over the flames in the cauldron, you made more steamed dumplings and sashimi.
You were steering the rice in the cauldron gently, so as to not make the rice mushy. Inuyasha, Miroku, and Shippo were all sitting by the door of the hut, while You, Kagome, and Sango were all helping to prepare the meal. When they all first entered, they all introduced themselves to you. You were surprised that they have yet to ask whom you were to Inuyasha, but they could tell that you were very important.
Once the majority of the food was done, both Kagome and Sango sat down with you around the fire, as they quietly conversed with you, while you steered the rice. “So, if it isn’t rude of me to ask, who are you to Inuyasha?” Sango asked. Everyone looked over at you, curious eyes stared at you as they all waited patiently for you to answer. You’ve been waiting for this question, and you gently placed the wooden spoon down on the setting stone to keep the water from molding your tatami floors.
“I don’t mind at all, in fact, I’m shocked that Inuyasha hasn’t yet spoken of me.” You said, your voice even while a motherly warmth spread from you. Kagme stared at you for a moment, before she gasped as if she placed together a long-awaited thought together. You smiled at her as a knowing gleam came into your eyes. “My name is (Y/N), and I am Inuyasha’s adoptive mother.” You explained as you bowed in a proper greeting.
They all stared at you in shock before they all looked over at Inuyasha who had his eyes closed, his sword cradled in his arms, but his ears twitched to show that he was listening. They all looked back over at you. “YOU’RE HIS WHAT!?” They all shouted. You sat back up before you gave them all a small giggle.

I saw that your request are open 🙈 I love many characters you write for but I really need a Koga x Reader Headcanon bc I don't see many x.x
Maybe the reader is from a different wolf yokai tribe. But she ran away from them bc she didn't want to be the mate from their boss. Koga could find her in the woods in his territory. I mean he smells that she's from a different tribe so naturally he thinks of her as an enemy..but after a small fight he'll hear her out and take her with him. And after time he'll grow fond of her. But he knows what happened to her and he is kind of afraid to mention the mate thing to her. Until she confess first or something like this. Maybe a bit of jealousy too? (Kagome etc) Thank you ♡♡
a/n: YES FINALLY AN ASK FOR MY BOY KOGA <333 Honestly I'd take Koga over Inuyasha any day, quite frankly. He's just too precious ;w;
Koga with a S/O From A Different Wolf Tribe
Tumblr media
You'd been running for as long as you could recall, and you were exhausted, but you had to keep going
You'd refused to be used in the marriage that had been arranged between you and your tribe's pack leader, and had escaped in the night when everyone was asleep
It was now dawn and you were still going, not noticing that you were passing into another tribe's area
Koga had noticed a different scent in his territory, though it was still one of a wolf, which was interesting but also concerning
The other wolf tribes in the area knew that this was his territory, and wouldn't enter without his permission beforehand
So, he enlisted Ginta and Hakkaku to come and help him find the source of the scent
You two pretty much slammed right into each other, lol
Immediately you both attacked each other while Ginta and Hakkaku watched slack-jawed
Koga himself was surprised (and impressed) at how you were able to keep up with him, though he did want to know what the eff you were doing there
So he pinned you down and demanded to know who you were and why you were there
To his surprise, you burst into tears and explained through shaky sobs everything that happened
Normally Koga wouldn't hesitate to kill someone who had wandered into his land, even someone who was from a neighbouring wolf clan
But he sighed instead, releasing you. "Come on."
Ginta and Hakkaku were stunned, they'd never seen Koga be merciful when it came to such matters before
Koga insisted that you were taken in by his wolves, reasoning that you'd be a valuable asset to them
Also because he thought you were pretty and wanted to keep seeing you
Though he'd never admit that last part, he didn't want you to be uncomfortable around him considering what you had just gotten out of
Koga decided to just put such feelings in the back of his mind and continue on, but you made it difficult just being around him
The others in his pack warmed up to you quite quickly, you tended to their wounds gently and provided an ample amount of food every time you went out on a hunt
You, of course, also developed feelings for him, but you never said anything out of fear of ruining what you had
Though...when Kagome and her group came around and Koga was...you know, it definitely stung a bit
It was beyond frustrating for any of the others to watch because they knew the extent of you and Koga's feelings for each other
You were frustrated as well and it grew to such a point that one day you just...blurted out to him how you felt
"It just kills me to see you around Kagome because I love you, I've always loved you, you gave me a chance and I can never forget that."
Koga just stared at you in complete and utter shock, his blue eyes wide (you know the face he makes when Kagome slaps him? That's the one)
It took him a moment to process what you'd said, he honestly thought he'd misheard you somehow
But when he saw the look on your face and how sincere you truly were, he grinned and pulled you close, crushing you in his arms
Safe to say he returned your feelings
Inuyasha's like "thank god" (lmfao)
The other wolves in the pack were overjoyed, they had been rooting for you and Koga to get together for the longest time and you FINALLY had
If you ever get hurt or wounded in any way, Koga doesn't hesitate to rip apart whoever did it with his claws. He ain't about to lose you
He always has a hand on you in some way, an arm around your shoulders, a hand on the small of your back or on your thigh, when you two sit together he leans onto you
As Rumiko Takahashi stated, his expression of love is very pure
Whenever he goes out on a hunt with the others, he makes a point to find a meadow and pick you some flowers
Koga can come off as very ruthless and serious but he's actually just a gigantic softie, especially when it comes to you
He'd never raise his voice at you, even when you have a disagreement, he does his best to mediate the situation so it ends amiably
He lives to see you smile, to feel you in his arms. You're the most important thing to both him and his pack
A part of him still can't believe he has you <3

Inuyasha Bingo Bonanza 2022
Home Is Where the Pack Is
read on ao3
Boisterous laughter filled the clearing, smiling faces lit up by the fire, as drinks and food were passed around. Even though the sun had set hours ago, summer was in full swing, the sound of cicadas humming in the distance. Hogs and deer were roasting above the flames, the tender meat ready to fall off the bone, while giant jugs of sake left them feeling warm and fuzzy. It’s the perfect night for a celebration.
Blue eyes glanced around at his tribe, the wolves chomping on bones and many of the demons joked with each other as two packs joined together. At the head of their den sat Koga and Ayame, Prince and Princess of the Eastern Ookami. As he sat next to his brother Hakkaku, Ginta finally felt whole.
“Hey Hak, can you believe we are finally celebrating those lovebirds' mating ceremony? I mean, three years ago, we were following Koga around as he hunted down Naraku, avenging our brothers’ deaths.”
“I know!” Hakkuku shoveled another bite of hog in his mouth, wiping the juice dripping down his chin before letting out a belch, “Who knew we would be back here, sitting with our pack after all the shit that went down?”
“Remember that time we ran into Inuyasha’s scary brother?” He shivered, the flash of Sesshoamru’s icy glare appearing across his mind.
“Dude, I know! I thought he was gonna kill us!”
“But did you hear that Kagome married Inuyasha? She came back after being gone for so long.”
“Our sister got mated?! That’s so great for them, we should go visit sometime.” Hakkaku waved the leg in the air as a couple of their brothers fought over some dead carcass nearby. Taking a swig of whatever the next jug they were passing around, Ginta nodded, agreeing. I wonder what it would have been like if Kagome had mated Koga? Then she would truly be our sister, but anyone could see how much she loved the hanyou. Except for the two of them, of course.
“I still can’t believe that she and Inuyasha took out Naraku the way they did. I mean, I know they were powerful, but that demon was walking hell.” Standing up, Ginta held up the pigskin as everyone quieted.
“As we are celebrating our Prince Koga’s mating to the beautiful Ayame, I want to also remember our fallen brothers. Naraku and his incarnations were responsible for the slaughter of our family, but they have been avenged. Tonight, when we laugh with each other, we should always remember the ones before us, the ones who gave their lives so we could have ours. ” He finished his speech, his words echoing around him.
“That was the sweetest thing ever.” Ayame wiped a lone tear, while Koga stood, holding his own hand up for silence as thunderous applause surrounded them.
“Ginta is correct. Over the last few years, we have lost the people we cared most about, we have helped defeat the darkest evil that has ever walked this earth, and for finding the one we will spend the next lifetime with.” He smiled, sliding his hand in Ayame’s outstretched one. “I couldn’t have done it without the two I’ve known since we were cubs, the two I’m proud to call my brothers.”
He knew the tears were coming, but wasn’t prepared for the waterfall of emotions that this night would bring, especially as his twin leapt up and hugged him with his own outburst. Everyone cheered and clapped louder, passing around more food and drinks as the night went on. Just as Koga and Ayame were about to head inside to start trying for cubs of their own, he pulled them aside, a light blush on his cheeks.
“I know I’m not one to get emotional and shit, but seriously, I wouldn’t have made it through the last decade without the two of you.” He smiled, his fangs glinting in the fading moonlight.
“We would follow you to the ends of the earth if we had to.” Hakkaku slung his arm over Ginta’s shoulders, his body heavy.
“We’re brothers.” Ginta shrugged, refusing to become a bundle of tangled emotions for the second time that night, “Wherever you are is home.”
“Ya know, the next celebration will be one of your mating ceremonies.” Koga bursted into laughter, running toward the cave’s entrance, a spark in his eyes. “Though I don’t know who would mind sharing with the other, but I’ll be front and center, cheering ya on.”

Another "A fic that I wish you'd write" ask
Kagome makes Ginta and Hakkaku help her plan a surprise party for Koga. They also help her with the biggest surprise; her telling him he's gonna be a dad!
Tumblr media
Bet you thought I forgot about this didn’t you 😬
I assure you it’s been haunting me unanswered in my inbox for months.
Life is just a real bitch sometimes 🥰 BUT this was the perfect little prompt to help me along with the first week of Sparks Fly in July event by the @fuckyeahkogkag blog!!
Week one’s prompt is Papa Koga!
Also read on: AO3
Just a Little Surprise
Candles- check.
Flowers- check.
Soft music- check.
Hair, makeup, cute dress, painted toenails- check.
Sizzling steaks and chilled beer- check.
Little box wrapped in silver paper holding a tiny little stuffed wolf in a baby onesie-check.
Kagome wiped her hands down the front of her apron and breathed out a shaky breath, looking at the clock and gasping to notice it was just ten minutes to 6, and then her phone chimed, a text from Ginta.
‘We tried to keep him longer but we couldn’t! He’s on his way!’
She whipped off her apron and rushed it to the washing machine and then stopped off in the bathroom to fix any last hairs that had gone astray in her last minute preparations.
She just wanted to look as perfect as everything else looked, from the subtle decor to the decorated cake to the steaks cooked just like he liked and ready to eat on a plate the same color as his eyes.
Everything had to be perfect.
He deserved it.
She heard the door open and gave herself one more once over before pasting on a bright smile she hoped hid her nerves and then finally went to meet him at the door.
Koga.
“Hey babe!” He greeted her, taking off his jacket and hanging it beside the door as he kicked off his shoes, and she marveled at how strong and shapely he still looked even in his stuffy office clothes.
“Hey!” She said a little breathlessly, and his brow furrowed a little as he leaned in to kiss her.
“Anything wrong? You look flushed.” He said, laying a hand on her forehead. She shook it off and grabbed his wrist, tugging him toward the kitchen.
“No, nothing like that. I have a surprise for you!”
“Oh yeah?” He replied, voice going a little low and deep as a sultry smile quirked his lips.
“Nothing like that either, naughty wolf!”
“I’ll show you naughty,” he quipped, yanking her back toward him, grabbing her by the hips and nuzzling into her neck.
“No!” She giggled, scrunching up her shoulders to stave off the tickling, a shiver racing down her spine as his fangs found a bit of skin. “I mean it Koga, I won’t let you ruin my plans! Come look!”
“Okay, okay,” he relented with a grin, the contentment making his blue eyes glow stopping her heart for a moment.
Even when he wasn’t trying to, he almost never stopped revealing just how thankful he was to be there with her, to have found her again after 500 years, to have been finally given the chance to make her his.
She was thankful too.
He’d surpassed all of her wildest dreams and expectations, and she’d never once felt like she was any less than cherished in his hands.
She was bursting to give him back a gift equal to the one he’d given her with his devotion.
“Tada!” She said, sweeping her arms toward the table, and he smiled softly at the romantic setup, sliding up next to her and looping his arm around her waist.
“What’s the catch? I know I didn’t forget our anniversary. And your birthday isn’t until next month.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. I’m just being nice.”
“If you were being nice,” he murmured, bumping his nose against hers, “we would be a lot less clothed than we are right now.”
“Your steak is getting cold and your beer is getting warm.” She said, smirking in victory when his eyes widened and he finally took his seat.
This was the hardest part, she thought to herself, stopping him in his quest to divest them of their clothes and whisk her off to bed. His touch was addicting and she knew if she let him succeed in seducing her she’d forget about her most important news for the next several hours, and that was definitely not an option.
“Damn babe, this is great!” He said around a mouthful of perfectly rare meat, and she beamed as she watched him scarf down the meal she’d fretted over all afternoon. “Why aren’t you eating? Do you feel okay?”
“Oh, uh…. I guess I got full tasting everything as I cooked?”
He looked at her skeptically for a moment, and she twisted the hem of her dress under the table.
“If you’re sure…”
“Totally!”
“You smell nervous Kags, are you sure nothing’s wrong? You look pale now,” he got up and walked around the table, Cradling her face so gently, looking so worried and concerned that her deception, no matter how well intentioned, made guilt curl through her cut with sharp edges. “Maybe we should get you in bed to rest, hm? Thanks for all this, but I’d rather you be feeling well.”
“I’m pregnant!” She shouted to keep him from ushering her to bed like a child, and then her eyes widened in realization. “Oh no, I ruined it! I ruined everything! This was supposed to be a big surprise and I ruined it!”
“You’re…. You’re…. You’re what?” He whispered, but the tears were flowing and the nerves were making her babble and the disappointment of ruining everything she’d been so carefully planning was crashing through her mind and flooding everything else.
“I’m so sorry, I had all these cute plans to tell you and surprise you and I ruined it!”
“Kagome… you’re pregnant?!”
“I was going to give you all these things you love and then a gift that announced it and it was going to be so special…”
Distantly, she felt his nose press into her belly and heard the snuffling sounds of his deep breaths, and then he lifted her into the air with a loud whoop.
“Holy shit you are! I’m gonna be a dad!”
“Woah!” She gripped his shoulders to steady herself as he spun her in one swift circle, and then her feet touched the floor again just as his lips descended on her face, a hail of kisses that landed in her cheeks, nose, forehead, chin.
“But… the surprise-“
“Fuck the surprise Kagome, what could possibly make this moment better than it is?!”
Finally she let herself release the expectations she’d built for the evening, and simply relished the pure, unadulterated joy in Koga’s eyes.
“You’re really happy?” She asked quietly, and he pressed his forehead to hers with a breathy chuckle.
“I didn’t think anything could make me happier than the day you agreed to be mine. But this? Oh Kagome, nothin’ will ever top this.”
She sank into his embrace, happy tears replacing the bitter disappointment as he surrounded her with all of his love and happiness and protection.
The food went cold.
And the beer warmed.
And the cake went uneaten.
And the present went unopened.
But the moment had been as perfect as she’d hoped after all.

November InuPrompt 2022: Sacrifice (11.08.22)
Summary: Sacrifice is an attribute that's often associated with being a good parent. Choosing something doesn't mean there will be no drawbacks or sacrifices even if the choice is made willingly. After a feral child is found, Koga makes his choice and is willing to risk it all.
Tumblr media
Letting out a shuddering sigh, Koga knelt and gently gestured for his betas to stand down. Turns out, their wolf companions weren’t mistaken. There was a human in the den tucked away in the deepest part of the forest. But it wasn’t what he’d initially thought. All the evidence suggested…
“Where is mother?” the tiny child - no older than four - whimpered in the common tongue, “I listened. I stayed.”
All the oxygen in Koga’s lungs whooshed out in one breath and, for once, he was lost for words. He’d heard stories…well, he’d heard one story of a human child taken in by wolves of old. A bedtime story that he’d assumed was no more true than the story of the goblin who’d eaten bad little wolves for not finishing their supper. The little boy had been raised. It sounded so fantastical. Impossible even. Especially considering that the wolf tribes had regularly ate humans at the time. The moral behind that story wasn’t entirely clear. Other than that wolves and humans could never mix. The story ended with the child being recaptured by humans. Away from its family. Humans had no loyalty because the boy didn’t recognize his family when he got older and when seen again was a hunter set on the destruction of those who had raised him.
Koga huffed and shook his head. Human or not, it shouldn’t be possible for a human to make the sounds necessary to speak this way. Somewhere, somehow she must have some wolf blood in her. Still, distant heritage or not, it wasn’t unheard of for human children to be raised by wolves. And, as such, Koga really did not want to have to explain to this child that her mother, her siblings and her grandparents were dead. Their skinned corpses discovered just short of the tree line a fair distance away.
“Why did your mother leave you behind?” Koga asked instead - slowly and gently as he hesitantly slunk forward on all fours, “Are you-“
The ebony hair girl bristled and let out a rather impressive tiny growl. Gravely and forced but very much a fearsome sound. Koga had to bite his lip so he didn’t grin at the very endearing posturing.
“BACK. AWAY. FROM. DEN!” the girl snapped as she crouched and bared her teeth, “BACK!”
“Okay. Okay,” Koga acquiesced as he pushed himself back and held up his hands, “Why are you alone?”
“Mother will be back,” the girl hissed as she remained crouched and low to the ground, “I am a good girl and I stay here!”
“I know,” Koga soothed before sighing heavily and shaking his head, “I know you are. And your mother would be very proud. But…”
Cursing silently, Koga glanced behind him to his two dearest friends who seemed just as lost and just as sad to come across such a thing.
“Your mother is dead. As a fellow wolf, your place is with the pack. We have come to fetch you,” Koga offered lamely and the girl simply blinked. Clearing his throat, the poor older male groaned at the implication that perhaps she wasn’t quite as fluent as he’d thought.
“Ah hell. Um, you-“
“Mother said to stay here. She is not dead,” the girl finally interrupted as a few tears started streaming down her little cheeks, “She is not.”
“Boss, do you think it’d help if we got the corpse?” Ginta whispered anxiously before yelping when Hakkaku whacked him upside the head.
“No. It would not be helpful to get the corpse,” Koga huffed over his shoulder - sending a nod of approval to the other less idiotic idiot who’d acted appropriately to such an inappropriate comment.
Blowing out his cheeks, Koga once again made to move closer and this time the little girl simply sank back onto her heels. Tiny lip quivering and a sob working it’s way up her throat.
“Come now little one. No harm will come to you,” Koga tried - his voice soft and hopefully reassuring, “I swear no harm will come.”
The little frightened toddler didn’t put up a fuss when she was gently yet firmly pulled out of the hole that had been her home. Silent tears streamed down her cheeks. Her tiny chest shuddering from both fear and grief.
“How do you think she got in there?” Ginta asked nervously as Koga began walking - not running - towards the Eastern mountain, “Do you really think they adopted her?”
“You heard her speak,” Koga countered with a glare, “That’s the only evidence I need.”
“What are we going to do though?” Hakkaku asked before sighing and shaking his head, “We could always drop her off with-“
“I am not dropping a wolf off to be raised by a mutt,” Koga snapped a little harsher than he intended and the toddler flinched in his arms. Huffing, Koga shook his head and continued in a calm, even tone, “We will-“
“Sister would take good care of her boss,” Ginta pointed out, “I mean, what’re you going to do? Pawn her off on-“
“Last we heard, Kagome left. No one has seen her. Even if she were here, I’d still claim this little one,” Koga cut off that line of thinking before adjusting his hold, “She was willing to fight for her pack. Was loyal to her pack. She’s got good instincts for a human. She belongs with her kind.”
“Boss we love you and we’d follow you anywhere, you know that, but you really need to rethink the whole loyalty thing. Lots of people and demons are loyal but you can’t claim them all,” Ginta chided before cringing and falling back before he could get injured again, “I’m just saying.”
Hakkaku seemed to agree to an extent but stayed silent. Save one comment.
“Ayame won’t take you if you’ve got her,” the less annoying of the two - today anyway - commented, “This human would be the eldest. A human could hurt your standing. You’d face challenges to your authority. It would be better to drop her off with the humans.”
For a long moment, the caravan continued in silence.
“She is a child of wolves. She will be raised by wolves,” Koga finally managed definitively, “Anyone who challenges that will be dealt with. I’ll kick their ass myself.”
“Boss, she’s human though,” Hakkaku argued gently, “And I know you loved Sister but this tiny one will not replace her.”
“I’m not tryin’ to-“
“And she could get hurt. Pups play rough. You know that,” Hakkaku continued a little more confidently, “She will never fit-“
“So I need to kick your ass is what you’re saying?” Koga clipped before looking down at the toddler who had cried herself to sleep, “She’s mine now. Deal with it.”
“Okay. So how are you gunna deal with it?” Hakkaku tried a different angle, “Do you even know anything about raising pups much less human babies?”
“Can you just shut up already?” Koga huffed, “It’s done.”
For the briefest of moments, there was silence and then Hakkaku continued his efforts to change this outcome.
“Ayame is supposed to be here by the next full moon. You really want to draw this line in the sand?” Hakkaku continued, “What if she won’t take you?”
“Fine by me. I don’t even remember making that stupid promise in the first place,” Koga bluffed even as his heart sank, “It is my duty as alpha to care for the orphans. This pup is no different.”
“Except she’s human,” Hakkaku pushed knowing full well that’d he be getting an ass beating the second Koga’s arms were empty.
“Then you’ll have to actually be useful for once and make sure she’s protected when I’m not around,” Koga hissed, “And if you fail, I’ll kill you. Sound like a deal?”
When his betas fell back, knowing that their arguments would fall on deaf and increasingly more violence prone ears, Koga sighed and looked down at the tiny child. It was clear she’d been loved. Well fed. Was well kempt although her hair could definitely use some work. Her education wasn’t lacking. She could speak well and clearly. Was obedient. Clearly had been taught to listen well to her elders. Told to hide when danger was nearby. Yes, despite the difference in their species, this child was loved. It would be downright disrespectful to abandon her after all the effort that had been put in. Cruel even considering humans weren’t exactly the understanding or generous type. Like that Rin girl who had found herself a demon guardian. Although rumor had it that relationship ended in quite a disturbing way.
“Ayame would make a good mother,” Koga finally commented confidently, “She’s gentle. Kind.”
“Yes boss,” his betas mumbled in unison even though they exchanged worried looks. Nodding at their answer, Koga tried to stop his heart beating out of his chest and to ignore the gnawing anxiety in his gut. They were right in so many ways. When it came to child rearing, he didn’t know shit about shit. And Ayame did not ask to become a mother - much less to become a mother to a human child. This would be a massive undertaking. A huge strain on them both were she to accept it. They’d need to teach her how to speak properly. Give her lessons of all kinds including how to speak in a way non-wolves would understand. As an alpha’s child, adopted or not, there’d be other areas she’d need to be schooled in. Matters of politics and leadership and battle know how. Things that she wasn’t naturally equipped to handle. Not to mention the trauma the poor child undoubtedly had which would need to be addressed. Did he have the patience for this? Was he ready for this type of commitment? And what would happen if he had his own pups one day? Could he balance both or would it be easier with a little experience under his belt?
But it was the right thing to do. Turning a child raised by wolves over to humans would lead to nothing but misery and death. She’d be labeled an imbecile. Left out to starve. No one would take her in and god forbid someone saw them. She’d be stoned to death. Presumed to be some demon spawn or a curse of some kind.
It was the right thing to do.
The toddler cooed in her sleep and snuggled closer. In that moment, Koga felt his heart absolutely melt and any doubt he had melted with it.
This was what he would do. For all the things his hands had held, the best by far was this precious child. From this moment forward, she was his.
And he was hers.
May the elders help anyone who even thought to harm a hair on her head. He’d kill anyone who tried to take her away. The unexpected ferocity of his love nearly made him stumble. It seemed impossibly sudden and strange but apparently that’s just how he fell in love of all kinds it would seem. Immediately and irreversibly in love. One day, yes, he’d probably need to let her go if that was in her best interest or what she wanted but until then…
“Ayame will love you too,” Koga whispered affectionately, “Or else I just won’t have her. How about that little one?”
The question as to Ayame’s reaction came much sooner than expected. She arrived early and ahead of her clan.
Not because she was eager to wed the man who’d promised she would be his so long ago but more to set down some boundaries. Have a private heart to heart about a few things. About what she’d tolerate and what she wouldn’t . It had actually taken quite a bit of convincing to get the elders to agree after he’d been a bit of a dick about Kagome. A lot was riding on this whole thing. Uniting the lands. Being solidified definitively as the leader of all the wolf tribes. Those who survived would be moving here and he was potentially risking everything by taking this child in. Without Ayame accepting him as her husband, the whole thing fell apart. She was the key and she knew it.
But the risks were what they were. The decision had been made and nothing could change his mind. He’d take whatever happened in stride. He always did.
So when Ayame did arrive, she found herself facing a man who, for once, seemed afraid upon seeing her. Who’s breath shuddered as he finished his explanation with one hand resting protectively against his child’s head. He used language the child clearly didn’t understand but the child seemed to have understood the situation to a degree. Tiny arms wormed around her adoptive father’s leg. Her eyes wavered as she took in the woman who was clearly making her father nervous. A mixed look of dread and hope. Yes, the little girl clearly understood that her father wanted this woman to like her but was frightened of the reaction he’d get.
Koga was afraid of this woman.
A woman who, after years of being low key insulted had entirely given up on loving the man or being loved herself, was actually seeing someone truly worthwhile. Someone with actual potential. What had become something they were going into out of duty, now seemed like it could be built on more. That there was more to him. After that whole little speech, it was laughable to think she’d might turn him away. Koga was not the only one who valued loyalty after all - which was the thing about him that really turned her off. He gave a lot of lip service to that word for a man who chased around a human girl and brushed off his promises. That being said, Koga was much more serious about this particular decision. Much less flippant.
She could work with this man. Live with this man. In her heart, she knew if she accepted this girl - which why wouldn’t she - Koga would never stray. He would be loyal to her despite all the concerns on that front.
This strange development could work out for the better. Funny how life goes.
After an uncomfortable pause, Ayame opened her mouth and Koga’s nostrils flared in panic.
“I wanna be clear. She comes with me,” he interrupted shakily before shifting to block the child from her view, “You want me, you’ll get her. No negotiation on that point. A-accept that or…or leave.”
Ayame smiled as he finished with a faint ‘it’s your call’ and nodded her acceptance to his condition. Her heart melted behind the kind eyes which lowered to gaze upon the child she was clearly ready to call her own. This reaction was everything Koga hoped it would be and in that moment, Koga found himself actually falling for the young girl whose advances he’d once spurned. What was once born out of duty and resignation, now seemed an excellent choice.
Ayame was a good woman. More so than he could ever ask for and far more than he deserved.
“You are so pretty,” Ayame cooed in the common tongue so the child clinging to Koga’s leg would understand - immediately kneeling down to eye level as soon as Koga finished his explanation. Plucking the signature flower for her crimson locks, the wolf demoness held it out with a small affectionate smile, “For you. I hope one day you will call me mother.”
“Mother is gone,” the child mumbled defensively even though she reached out and snatched up the flower.
“Of course. Forgive me. I’m sorry for your loss. It’s obvious your Mother loved you very much,” Ayame acknowledged without skipping a beat, “Why wouldn’t she? You are a very good girl.”
It was kind of funny, given all his mutt insults in the past, but in the decades that followed, all the half-demon wolf children that were born were doted on by two very protective yet very affectionate grandparents. For that matter, all the grandchildren and children that came afterwards were treated as equal to their human counterpart. There was love and joy in the family which ruled over the wolf demon tribe. Loyalty to blood was as close to a family motto as they had and no one ever questioned whether that little girl was blood. Blood, sweat and tears had gone into her raising. She was the alpha’s daughter. Their eldest daughter. There was no clearer truth than that.

You know how Inuyasha is so bad with words? And sentences and all that. So I've got this head canon that there is actually an inu youkai language, which makes the poor dog boy a confused bilingual trying to translate his thoughts all the time and falling miserable at it.
Just one of those silly things that changes how you see everything 🤣
I've never thought about that before but omg it's such a fun idea!
I guess it would make sense for a "species" that doesn't necessarily interact with humans to have a different language?
Also full-yokai like Sesshomaru kind of have their own "language" since he... howls? right? 😅 And we're NOT going to talk about that one filler episode where Ginta and Hakakku barked at the other wolves like they were having an actual conversation because that was.... oof, lol

Tae being the first to notice something was off about Kintoki replacing Gin, still is one of the cutest decisions ever.

“The b*itch has really done it now!”
… I wonder what the straw was that broke the camels back. That bad photoshop job? Hehehe
Tumblr media
Edit: NOpe. According to Gintoki’s reaction here (to something worse), it wasn’t the bad photoshop job the got him in the marriage announcement. ;)
So the straw that broke the camels back was either the marriage announcement itself(unlikely since the second picture is worse lol) or that Otae was mentioned. .. (and we know that he doesn’t get mad when people assume gin and Tae are together…)
So I can only assume that since he knows Otae received one too (due to the taunt), that’s what crossed the line.

You were sitting in your room by your lonesome as you quietly sipped your tea. You wore an elegant kimono draped over your white one, as you rested on your bedding. The candle was the only light source in the darkened room. You sighed to yourself, as you soaked in the gentle aroma of your tea.
Your strength has come back, and you’ve been able to manage around the castle on your own, but you preferred Kohaku’s ever-sweet presents with you. You smiled as you thought of him, he was such a sweet boy. The sound of a light knocking against the shogi doors brought you from your thoughts, and you looked over at them. “Come in.” You said.
The gentle voice of Kohaku sounded through and your smile spread. He slid open the doors and you smiled sweetly at him. He smiled in return as he placed a tray with food on the floor of your room, before he moved to close the door behind him. “Good evening, Kohaku. How are you?” You kindly asked him. He smiled as he walked to you with the tray. “I’ve been well, Miss (Y/N). I’ve just been busy around the castle is all.” He answered kindly as he moved to sit before you. You smiled at his answer, as you watched him place your tray before you. “I’m pleased to hear that. Thank you, Kohaku.” You kindly said.
“It’s no problem at all, Miss (Y/N).” He replied as he sat with his knees tucked under him. You smiled at him before you looked down at your food, it wasn’t anything special, just a bowl of rice, a grilled fish, and two boiled eggs. You looked up at him in question. “Are you hungry, Kohaku?” You asked him. His eyes widen some at your question. “Umm, I am a little hungry, but I’ll eat later.” He said with a sheepish smile. You gave him a concerned look before you picked up a boiled egg and you offered it to him.
“Here, eat this, and once you’re done you can have some rice too.” You said. He shook his head as he held his hand up. “Oh no, I can’t. That’s for you Miss (Y/N).” He said. Your face went stern as you pushed the boiled egg toward his hand. “I understand that, but you work so hard around here, you deserve a well-earned break, so please eat.” You pleaded with a stern voice. He stared at you with a worried look before he looked down at the egg and he sighed in defeat before he took the egg.
You smiled in triumph as you picked up the bowl of rice. “Once you’ve finished your egg, you may eat some rice too.” You said. He nodded as he took a bite from the egg. You smiled tenderly at him, happy to see him eating. He devoured his egg quickly before he greedily picked up the bowl of rice and he began shoving it down his throat. You smiled fondly at him as you picked up your tea cup and you moved to hand it to him. “Here, drink something before you choke.” You said with a slight chuckle.
He stopped eating the rice, as his face flushed red with embarrassment. He placed the bowl down and he took the cup of tea. You smiled sweetly at him as you watched him eat your whole meal. But you didn’t mind. ‘He’s such a hard worker, he takes his job so seriously till he doesn’t even eat much.’ You thought. You smiled to yourself in thought as you looked down at your lap. ‘He’s such a sweet boy, he reminds me of Inuyasha when he was a young boy.’ You thought.
Your eyes suddenly flashed worriedly as you looked off to your side. ‘I hope he's fairing well. I know he's strong but I can't but worry.' You thought. Your cheeks suddenly warmed as you thought of the young lord of the castle. 'It’ll come as an unwelcoming surprise if he finds out that I’ve fallen in love with the young lord of this house.’ You thought worriedly. ‘But maybe he won’t mind so much, after all, he’s a half-demon just like himself.’ You thought hopefully.
The sound of wooden dishes being placed down made you snap from your thoughts and you smiled at Kohaku as he let out a contented sigh. “Ah! That hit the spot.” He said as he rubbed his stomach. You chuckled at him sweetly. “I’m glad that you enjoyed it, I hope you eat more often like this, Kohaku. I worry for you.” You said. He smiled at you. “I’ll try, Miss (Y/N).” He promised. You smiled as you nodded at him.

Inuyasha and the group were moving quickly through the woods. Inuyasha had recently caught the scent of Oak Trees and Miasma, and he immediately jumped into action and everyone followed. Kagome was forced to ride on Kirara since Inuyasha just suddenly took off, but she couldn’t blame him, his mom was in danger. If her mom was in the same predicament, she'd do the same thing. It was a pretty silent chase, not much could be said about the situation at hand.
Inuyasha’s solid focus was on keeping the scent as he ran and glided through the forest. ‘Don’t worry Mom, I’m coming to save you.’ He determinedly thought. He blinked in shock and confusion when a familiar scent rolled through. He looked towards his right, and he looked towards his left, but he didn’t see anything. ‘Why do I smell Sesshomaru nearby?’ He thought in confusion as he continued his chase.
Sango, Miroku, Kagome, and Shippo all sat in silence as they followed Inuyasha from above on Kirara. Kirara suddenly growled in warning as she looked back causing everyone else to react. “What’s the matter, Kirara?” Sango asked in concern as she looked at her companion. “What’s wrong, Sango?” Miroku asked as he looked around at Sango.
She looked back at him in confusion and worry. “I don’t know, but Kirara is reacting to something.” She explained worriedly, her eyes trailed passed everyone and her eyes widen. “Huh? What’s he doing here?” She asked in confusion. Everyone looked at her in question before they all followed her gaze behind them. Their eyes widen when they noticed that they were being trailed.
“What in the world?” Miroku asked in shock. “It’s Sesshomaru!?” Kagome called out loudly in confusion. Her voice caused Inuyasha to look back and he narrowed his sight on Sesshomaru. 'There he is. I knew I smelled him.' Inuyasha thought. Sesshomaru was flying behind the group, his impassive face dead set as he shot through the sky like a comet. “What’s he doing here?” Shippo asked in a frightened voice. “I’m not sure, but it probably has something to do with (Y/N).” Mirkou said.
“He must be following the same scent as Inuyasha.” Kagome said. Sesshomaru paid them no mind as he sped past them, the speed at which he traveled caused a whipping wind to pass by the group. They all closed their eyes as they hung on tightly to one another so as to not be blown away. Kirara growled in struggle as she fought against the powerful winds that pushed her back causing her to fall back some. “KIRARA!! ARE YOU OKAY!?” Sango yelled in worried as she felt Kirara give slightly under the wind.
Inuyasha growled in worry as he watched his friends struggle against the winds before he glared over at Sesshomaru. “What the hell are you doing, Sesshomaru? If it’s anyone who's going to take out Naraku, it’s going to be me.” He declared as he ran, keeping up with Sesshomaru's speed. Sesshomaru said nothing, as he kept focus on the sight in front of him. His eyes were glossed over with rage as he practically ignored Inuyasha. Inuyasha’s annoyed stare turned into a confused one before his glare softened some before he looked ahead of himself once more.
“Listen, I get it, you’re upset about Mom getting taken by that creep, but we’ll get her back.” Inuyasha said, trying to comfort Sesshomaru while also reassuring himself. He was feeling rather antsy, he was honestly nervous about it all. Sesshomaru glanced over at Inuyasha for a second before he looked back ahead. “Hmph, that woman is of no concern to me. I am simply here to defeat Naraku.” He scoffed. Inuyasha scoffed in return. “Huun, don’t give me that load of crap, you’re just as worried as I am, face it Sesshomaru, you’re here to save mom just like I am.” Inuyasha said. Sesshomaru scowled but he didn’t say anything in return.
The group flew behind the brothers, listening to the two as they conversed. “So, Sesshomaru knows of (Y/N)’s abduction.” Miroku noted. Sango nodded before she looked back at him. “Yes, but I’m not sure how, unless Kagura spoke to him just as she did to us.” She said. Miroku nodded. “Yes, that would make the most sense. Kagura needs as many people as she can get to help her obtain her freedom.” He said.
Sango nodded in agreement. Kagome looked down at the brothers with a thoughtful look. “Yeah, but how did Kagura know that she had any kind of connections to Sesshomaru?” She asked. They both looked back at her in shock. “That’s a good question.” Sango said. Miroku nodded. “It is, it does hold some concern. I now wonder how much of what Kagura told us was true.” He said as he thought over what Kagura told them a few nights ago.
“Yes, like if this Kusho Pearl even exists.” Sango agreed. Kagome spoke up. “I think it does.” She said. They both looked back at her in question. “Oh? How do you figure?” Sango asked. “Well, if she was lying, she wouldn’t of have sounded so hopeful. Don’t forget, she wants Naraku dead just as much as we do.” She said. Miroku nodded. “That’s true, she would have no reason to lie about the Pearl then.” He confirmed. “The question that now remains, is how did she know that (Y/N) even had any sort of connections to Sesshomaru.” Sango said. Everyone grew silent as they thought it over to themselves.

In the rocky mountains, a group of wolves could be seen running along with Ginta and Hakkaku, they were all breathing heavily as they ran through the mountains that lead towards the woods. “KOGA!!” Ginta yelled in exhaustion. “WAIT...FOR US!!!” Hakkaku yelled as they both tiredly jogged. They could see a twister that was a few yards away from them before it vanished into the woods.
They came to a stop, as they leaned over, their hands on their knees as they caught their breaths. “What’s got him… so wired up?” Hakkaku panted. “I don’t know… something about Naraku maybe.” Ginta panted. Koga ran ahead, a determined glare on his face as he charged through the forest. ‘Naraku, you bastard. I’ve finally caught a whiff of your disgusting scent. You’re mine this time.’ He thought as he raced through the forest. In the sky,
Kagura floated on her feather, as she stared down in wonder. ‘So Koga is in on the hunt too is he? I wasn’t expecting this, but the more the merrier as they say. With Naraku’s sudden change in plan, this is perfect.’ She thought, pleased with the outcome. ‘I was about to change tactics, but this should work out just fine.’ She thought before she flew off in the same direction that Koga was heading in. ‘With this amount of people, we might just have a chance to actually defeat Naraku.’ She thought as her eyes gleamed in unpromised triumph.

In Naraku’s castle, the Kusho Pearl gleamed a dark purple aura, the Jewel shard reacting in kind as it shined its own pure aura. Elsewhere in the castle, Kohaku walked with you down the many halls of the castle. “This castle is ever so gloomy.” You suddenly stated. Kohaku nodded in agreement. “It truly is.” He said. You sighed as you stared at the darkened hall before you. “I wonder, if perhaps the young lord will allow me to decorate the walls with some life?” You pondered aloud.
Kohaku looked over at you with a kind smile. “It’s hard to say, but it doesn’t hurt to ask him.” He said, as he encouraged you. You smiled over at him. “Ask me what?” Came Naraku's smooth voice. You both looked forward, seeing Naraku walking down the hall towards you both, Kanna walked behind him silently, her mirror shining a white light before it went back to being a reflective surface.
Kohaku straightened up in slight nervousness while your cheeks warmed and you bowed your head bashfully. “Oh, um..well my Lord. I was wondering...” You said shyly before you tailed off. Naraku stared at you for a moment before he walked forward toward you. He stopped before you, his socks coming into your field of vision but you didn’t look up. “I’m sorry, but I can’t quite hear you. You’ll have to speak up some, Milady.” He said politely.
You slowly looked up at him bashfully. “Well… I was just speaking to Kohaku, and I wanted to know if that, I perhaps could decorate the castle some.” You said shyly. He stared down at you, his eyes studied you with question before he smiled kindly. “You may, but what did you have in mind?” He asked. He honestly could care less, but he had to make your heart swoon for him completely.
You beamed up at him happily before you began to give him a list of ideas. He watched you intensely, not really focusing on what you were saying. He focused on the familiar aura of Onigumo’s aura that was leaking from you. It grew some since he last saw you. ‘Ah, so my plan is working after all, is it? I thought that perhaps it wouldn’t take hold, but alas, her half-human heart soaked in that ridiculous emotion like a sponge.”
He gave a small smirk in triumph as he ‘listened’ to your ideas for the castle. ‘Inuyasha will be most ‘pleasantly’ surprised when he discovers that his mother is loyal to me. Her heart beats for me, just as strongly as it does for him.’ He thought, as he placed his hand gently against the small of your back, leading you along with him as he nodded to your silly ideas. Kohaku stared after the two of your figures in concern for your well-being.
Kanna walked slowly pass him, as she kept up with Naraku. Kohaku looked over at her, watching as she slowly passed by him. He sighed before he decided to follow as well. The darkness of the castle swallowed you all, as your happy voice carried out through the darkness of the castle.

Kouga is a secondary character in the shounen animanga series Inuyasha, first published in Weekly Shounen Sunday in 1996. Initially an antagonist, Kouga's role in the story developed rather quickly into a rival for Kagome's affections, spurring the bond between she and Inuyasha ever-closer, in addition to his hatred for overarching series villain Naraku. Kouga challenges the narrative in his appearances, begging the questions of "what makes a good leader" and "is it possible for humans and demons to coexist" and "good lord look at his legs".
Obviously, we must address that last part. By and large, Kouga's physique is not much more impressive than many other shounen characters by virtue of the medium and the mangaka's somewhat minimalist style. He does, however, boast additional muscle definition over the majority of characters, including series main Inuyasha himself. Far and away his most notable characteristic is his costume design highlighting this, featuring traditional chest- and shoulder-pieces, fur leg-guards, and a fur kilt. The fur kilt is very short, appropriate for Kouga's preferred method of both conveyance and battle, and also appropriately we the audience get constant reminders of the tone on Kouga's thighs. Just look at 'em.
We learn from his earliest appearances that Kouga is the "young lord" of a wolf demon clan, and his naivete is apparent in his leadership choices. Rash, hot-headed and arrogant, Kouga bull-rushes into situations, relying on pure instinct and the power of the Shikon Jewel shards he carries to bail him out if he needs it – often leaving his packmates behind. Indeed, it is the naivete and lack of strong leadership that leads to the slaughter of the rest of his clan, and Kouga's single-minded ploy for vengeance which drives his appearances in the narrative moving forward from that point. We do not ever see him working over strategies for battle or diplomacy, and time after time he cheerfully rushes off into the sunset with nary a thought in his head except for how nice Kagome's lotion smelled that day.
His love for Kagome cements itself fairly early on in his narrative arcs as a defining character trait, sometimes to his detriment, but more often than not he benefits from her presence in his life, and strives to be better through knowing her. His estimation of women, and other people at large, balloon immediately after fighting alongside her for the first time, and his transition from bloodthirsty maneater to dopey lovesick side character is marked, especially in the anime where he is woobyfied even further by the introduction of selfstyled "fiancee" Ayame.
What must be addressed, however, is despite these influences on his personality and overall outlook, is that Kouga could never be truly referred to as a kind man. He learns the value of relying on other people, and even lends a hand toward the betterment of the world, but the greater good is never at the forefront of his mind or his heart. His focus is purely on himself at all times, and it is this selfishness that drives his character arc and prevents him from joining The Group fulltime to save the world. Even on smaller scale, closer to home Kouga has multiple episodes of the anime focusing on him realizing that his two remaining packmates, Ginta and Hakkaku, have feelings, and that they often cannot keep up with him.
Your powerful legs can't get you out of trouble this time, sir.

WIP WEDNESDAY
Wrote out the first few chapters of my zombie au: After The End and wanted to share a little snippet with you all. 💕
“If it were any of us out there, you know they would send a whole search party.” Sango tried to reason, but everyone understood the situation. Nighttime was difficult for any group and you could have every person weaponed up, but with no electricity, you couldn’t see shit. Flashlights were hard to come by and Charlie explained earlier that the batteries they used now were for the walkie talkies and whatever Doc needed.
“At first light, we’ll go.” Miroku soothed her, brushing her bangs from her face and she leaned over, wrapping her arms around her.
“Hey! Hey! Some let me in!” A loud scream had him jumping to his feet, looking around for whoever made that sound. Kouga, Charlie and Sango leapt to their feet and took off running towards the front. Almost tripping over his own feet, he joined them, Miroku and Ayame following behind.
As they rushed through the halls, heading straight for the front doors, he thought he saw a small shadow at the gate releasing an arrow into a zombie’s dead. Ginta and another man fired from the roof, bringing down another group of zombies and he watched as Charlie and Kouga lifted the levers for the barriers. Sango, with her gun aimed straight ahead, burst through the gate, firing at another one who got too close. The shadow turned and dashed inside, missing a zombie as it grabbed for them, and barreled right into him before he realized it was a small woman. A woman? Is she 10K?
The woman looked up, staring at him in shock, and he could see her blue eyes were blurry in the starlight, while the rest of her face was covered by a bandana. Gripping her arms tight, she hissed and he felt liquid drip down his hand. Shit, she’s injured.
“Sango, get behind the gate!” Charlie yelled, Miroku grabbing her as she killed another zombie. Inuyasha turned his attention back to the woman in his arms, her hands gripping his shirt tight as she mumbled something.
After finally securing their gates, the group crowded around Inuyasha still holding the woman, calling out her name. He leaned down, trying to catch what she said, her body trembling violently. He kept her uptight, praying she wouldn’t die on him.
“Help.” She managed to repeat and then passed out in his arms, her body limp.
“Fuck!” He growled and scooped her up in his arms, running inside as Kouga yelled for Doc to hurry.
