meeting Foul Legacy during an expedition to the Chasm.

you're an experienced adventurer in your own right, having gone through many trials and tribulations to become as strong as you are today, so your journey was mostly done alone. of course, you needed a little help getting permission to access the vast mine and acquiring a Lumenstone- no matter how good of an adventurer you are, you cannot see in the dark. but from that point forward you were on your own, exploring every nook and cranny of the cavernous underground with sharp eyes and ears. it was fascinating to see the wonders of Teyvat, from lush underground gardens to caves full of clear, fresh water to a simply enormous mushroom, glowing as bright as a star.

you're investigating a set of crumbling ruins when you first see it- a gleaming eye, watching you from the darkness. unlike some of your more weak-hearted colleagues, you aren't scared at all, merely holding your Lumenstone higher to get a better look at whatever- or whoever- was staring at you. the eye approaches at the same time, your light falling on a creature almost twice your height, mask a bloody crimson red with twin horns curving upwards. you take an instinctive step back- many species in the Chasm are attracted to light-carrying humans as prey- but the monster shocks you by crouching to your level, gaze flitting from your Lumenstone to you and back again. a soft, gentle sound comes from the beast, which you can only describe as a croon, its claws open like it's trying to catch the light from the crystal in your hand

a small smile forms on your face as you step forward and carefully place the Lumenstone in the creature's hand for it to examine. it chirps in delight, turning the stone over and admiring the light that emanates from it. then the monster's gaze softens, its eye a faceted sapphire blue; talons extend and gently wrap around your hand, treating you as if you're made of fine porcelain.

you squeeze your new friend's hand and are met with a joyful trill.

you as Childe's subordinate, an ordinary agent of the Fatui. some wonder why he's so attached to you- you're neither an excellent fighter, nor a cunning strategist, nor particularly devoted to the Tsaritsa. luckily your position as a simple agent, one of the hundreds at the Fatui's disposal, doesn't require you to be any of those things, yet for some odd reason the Eleventh Harbinger has brought you closer and closer to him, until you could almost be considered his right hand. the answer is simple: Childe, or Tartaglia, likes you. yes, perhaps you don't excel in battle or planning, perhaps you're easy to startle and just want to live a normal life, but you're kind and caring, as well as extremely reliable when something needs doing. even after Rex Lapis passes his gnosis to La Signora, you remain in Liyue by Tartaglia's side, going about your tasks and ignoring the venomous looks many of the citizens throw your way at the sight of your uniform, and he just can't help but want to spend time with you somewhere calm and away from work. something changes a few months later, though, when the Chasm reopens for business. the Harbinger develops a habit of staring at the window, fingers clenched into a fist and brow furrowed. something draws him towards the Chasm- something old and familiar he'd hoped to have forgotten- and one day he simply stands and wanders out of the Bank, holding his bow in a vice grip. you, quiet and worried and trying to prevent injury, follow him, surprised when instead of turning you away, he blinks and smiles at your presence. Tartaglia's wanderings lead the both of you deeper and deeper into the Chasm, and at some point he quietly laces his fingers with your in order to keep you close. he's looking for something- you're not sure what- but whatever it is, he's determined to find it. it's only when you reach the deepest point of the Chasm does he seem at ease, closing his dull blue eyes and exhaling in relief. then a flash of electro makes you jump back as it envelops his body, and when you look up again you're faced with the sight of what must be the Foul Legacy form he sometimes mumbles about. you're terrified- scared to the bone- but your concern for Tartaglia pushes away your fear as you slowly approach. "Er- Are you alright, Lord Tartaglia...?" Foul Legacy tilts his head towards you and stares for a moment, before leaning down and picking you up in his claws- razor sharp claws- eye glittering at your yelp of shock. he hoists you in his arms and studies you silently, feeling the minute trembles wracking your body, before smiling like he's seen something he likes, letting out a happy coo. talons gently push your head so it's resting against Foul Legacy's shoulder, those same talons trailing up your back as his chest hums with purrs, Tartaglia's love for you finally revealed in the Chasm's darkness. close to the Abyss, with the person he loves, Foul Legacy's turbulent heart is finally soothed.

i’m trying to figure out the theoretical journey to take from sumeru to get to mondstadt based on random estimates/reasonable assumptions and i’ve come to the conclusion that if you were travelling by land then there’s no way you would be getting there in anything less than a week’s time
